한참을 쳐다봐, 가까이 다가가 you see (ey-yeah)
I was known for being attractive and nice but how could she not know me or notice me? I mean, maybe I was used to the attention from everyone in the school (even from my own teachers) but how could she not see me?
Last month a bunch of new students arrived to our school, between them there was a girl that seemed nice but she didn't talk much more apart from her own name. I felt slightly interested on her because she didn't look like those girls who'll go around trying to be part of a group already, she wasn't seen with anyone but remained nice to everyone. Some people who approached her told me that she was nice and that she didn't push anyone away so, how was it possible that I couldn't see her with anyone around?
I was determined on talking to her and getting to know her, and who says maybe I'll try to hit on her? Oh no, I'll leave that for later.
"Hey, Haeun right?" I asked as I sat down next to her before our chemistry class started "Yes, I'm Haeun. You are?" She asked me, I kept a gasp inside me thanks to her questions. I simply smiled and looked at her "I'm Heeseung, nice to meet you Haeun" I said and she smiled, I had extended my hand for her to shake and she did. "Do you mind if I sit next to you for our chemistry class?" I asked her "No, it's okay" she said smiling kindly. "Why did you do it tho?" Haeun asked me as she took out her things for our lesson "Sit down next to you?" She nodded "Well, I wanted to know you and maybe become friends?" I said, not everything was a lie, I did want to become her friend... And, okay! Maybe try to know her better to go further? Ah I should really focus... "Oh, thank you for trying" she said smiling again, I really hope this works "No problem" I shot another smile in her direction before paying attention to our class.
널 우연히 마주친 척할래 못 본 척 지나갈래 You're so fine (ey). Gotta, gotta get to know ya
I tried to be with Haeun as much as I could, at lunch, in class even tried to invite her to my friends group! Was I going too fast? I really want her to take a look at me and try to approach me first too! Even if she didn't, I wasn't going to give up.
"Do you have any plans for today after school?" "Mhm... I'll just study" Haeun said and shrugged slightly as we walked through the school hallways. "Oh well, let's study together" I said and she looked at me questioningly "Why are you doing all of this?" "What do you mean?" "Everything, trying to be with me, spending time together at school, having lunch together and sitting next to me in class" she said and I sighed softly "Does it annoy you?" "No, why?" "Then just let me be, I'm trying to be friends with you Haeun" I said, I didn't where those came from but I said them "Okay" the girl said, chuckling softly. I wanted more, I wanted more of the sound of her chuckle. Was it weird to like the sound of her chuckle? Damn.
"Where do you wanna go to study?" I asked her as we walked out from the school building "I know a café nearby, I go there frequently and it's really cozy so it's a good place to study" Haeun said and I nodded "okay there it is, you lead the way?" I asked smiling playfully and Haeun chuckled while nodding softly "Yeah"
"And what's your favorite color?" I asked her, leaning my face on my hand "We came here to study and you're asking my favorite color?" Haeun scoffed before smiling softly "it's light green" she said before moving her gaze to the books beside her, picking a highlighter pen to underline something on one of the books. "Aren't you going to ask me what my favorite color is? Mhm~ how bad..." I said smiling softly as I looked in her direction, Haeun rolled her eyes playfully before looking at me "okay, what's your favorite color?" I chuckled "Blue" I said and she nodded before going back to her books again "Won't you study? That's why we came here" Haeun said without looking up from her notes "Maybe... I'm a bit lazy, honestly" I said and laughed at my own words, Haeun shook her head while smiling softly as she continued to read something on her study guide. After a while I decided to take out my own books and try to study for at least 15 minutes, which I knew I would only focus 5 minutes. I wasn't someone who was good with studying so it was hard to focus, and even more with the girl I was starting to like sitting down in front of me. We wrapped up our study session after 30 minutes, when we went out from the café I looked over to Haeun "Do you want me to walk you home? It's pretty late.." I said and she denied kindly "No, thank you. I'll go back by myself, you can walk me home the next time" she said and my eyes went wide "So there's going to be a next time?" I asked smiling playfully and she chuckled while looking around "Maybe?" Haeun said in a playful tone too "We'll see if there's going to be a next time. See you tomorrow Heeseung" she said and I nodded, my smile not going away from my lips "See you tomorrow Haeun" I said before walking away, waving at her as I walked away. Today was a good day for sure.
Hey 다 들켰었나 널 보면 하트가 튀어나와
In these last weeks I realized that I did like Haeun. I mean, if since the first day she arrived I've been trying to make her notice me, didn't that mean that I have developed some feelings for her already? Well, now I'm sure of it and yes, I like her. I've also noticed the way my heart goes wild whenever I'm close to her, or when she passes near me when we're going out from our class and to the hallways for our breaks.
"Hi" I said and sat next to her as we were in the cafeteria for lunch "Hi Heeseung" Haeun replied simply "How have you been?" I asked and she smiled slightly as she took out her lunch "Good, and you?" She replied and looked at me "I'm all good, did you bring something tasty for lunch?" I asked and heard her chuckle "You've come here with a lot of questions... And yes, I brought some tasty food" Haeun replied and I swore I could feel my heart jumping crazily inside my chest, in an attempt of acting normal I swallowed and tried to play it cool "that's cool" I said and noticed that Haeun had turned to look at me questioningly "Is everything alright?" She asked, looking at me quite weirdly too "Yeah.. yeah everything's alright" I said and looked away, looking down at my food to avoid her piercing gaze. I saw Haeun shrugging slightly from the back of my eye and sighed softly, starting to eat my lunch.
The end of the day had come after some severe hours of studying. I made my way out of the classroom and to my locker, I didn't feel Haeun's presence until she called out my name and tapped my shoulder. Turning around I looked at her, confused. "What?" "I was asking you if you had any plans after school" she said and I swore (again) that my heart could explode any moment soon. Was Haeun, Park Haeun, asking me if I had any plans after school?! Was she?! Oh my- I would have started to jump and scream if it wasn't for her being there in front of me. Trying to play it cool, again, I shook my head gently "Not really, uh I was planning on going to play some basketball" I said and Haeun nodded "Well, I have the afternoon free so I can go with you and maybe we can spend some time there. Also so that you don't miss your time playing basketball..." She said and I nodded quickly "Yes, that sounds perfect for me" I said and Haeun chuckled as she turned around and looked at me "Let's go?" She asked smiling and I nodded again "Let's go".
"Won't you get bored while seeing me run around and throwing a ball inside a hoop?" I asked Haeun as we made our way to the basketball court in one of the parks near the school, thankfully the court was empty and it could be just us. "Nah, I'll be good. If I do get bored then I'll just get up and walk away" she said and I laughed, she shook her head and sat down on the floor next to the court "Are you okay there?" I asked as I saw her sitting down on the floor "Yeah, no worries" the girl said and I nodded. I started to play for a while and never saw Haeun moving her gaze away from me, maybe it was greedy for me to say it but it was true.
"Ah goddamn, Minji was right. Heeseung is so damn fine"
가끔은 정말 헷갈리지 분명한 건 Got me looking for attention
Haeun had started to act differently around me after she had seen me play in the basketball court last week. She seemed more flustered? Shy? I don't know what it was but she was acting different. I wanted to ask her about it but I couldn't bring myself to do it yet, maybe something happened? I need to try to ask her what's going on, maybe that can help her open more with me! We can get closer if I show more interest on her? Yes! I'll try to ask her what is happening.
Another thing I could notice on Haeun's behavior was that I saw her more around me, she'd stick around more frequently and would come to me first and ask me about my classes. At the moment I'm living a dream whenever she does that because it feels so nice. It feels so nice to have her attention finally, I've wanted that ever since I put my eye on her and when I noticed that she had started to see me more made me realize that maybe my plan worked. It wasn't a plan either, I just wanted to get closer to her. And to be honest, she's one of the nicest people I've met. It can be because I like her, but she's really nice! Should I confess my feelings? Or is it too soon?
"Haeun?" "Mhm?" She looked at me after I had called her "Can I tell you something?" I asked her and she nodded. We were at the Han river as I had invited her here to hang out for a while after school. I was walking with Haeun next to me and I stopped to tell her what I was hiding for some months already. "You know, ever since you came to school... You've caught my attention, and since then I've been wanting you to notice me..." I said, smiling like a fool as I avoided her gaze "And I've come to the conclusion that I like you. I like you Park Haeun" I said more confidently and finally looked into her eyes, I couldn't read them. I couldn't tell what her eyes were saying. They were empty to me until she got closer and embraced me "I like you too, Heeseung" she mumbled and I wrapped my arms around her. When we separated I still had one of my arms around her, slowly leaning closer I finally closed the gap between our lips and connected them into a soft but full of emotions kiss. I poured all of my feelings into that kiss, she brought her hand up to my cheek and I hugged her closer to me. Due to the lack of air, we parted away but she made sure of keep our foreheads together even after the kiss. I smiled like a fool and heard Haeun chuckle, my favorite sound. I felt as if I had won in life after knowing that she reciprocated my feelings, even as much as I did. "I love you, or is it too soon?" I said and chuckled, a tinge of nervousness in my voice soon shut up by Haeun's words "No, I think I already love you too" she said and chuckled before hugging me again. After that evening, I was sure that I had caught her attention like she did with me at first. This was the beginning of something that could last years, or at least that I wanted to last years.

CAN I JUST SAY THAT YOUR WRITING IS AMAZING????? Its so detailed with a great flow and filled with so much emotion I LOVE ITTTT!! You got me lying in bed tossing and turning with “in pursuit of knowledge” 🥰🥰 that’s my favourite one I really hope you continue it!
Can I request one of the upcoming chapter to explore more on how Zhongli and reader first meet and what are the other things they did that made him fall for them more and more each day? Zhongli doesn’t seem to be the kind that falls in love at first sight so I’m interested to see how the reader seems to have slowly crawled her way into his stone heart UGHHH ❤️❤️😩😩 It can be filled with fluff or with smut, up to you! Thank you so much ❤️
Thank you! You can keep on tossing and turning then with this! I also head canon that when it comes to love, Zhongli wouldn't fall in love at first sight but instead he'd be like a snail. The entire time I'm writing this I thought long and hard on how to proceed because I couldn't decide on a satisfactory way Zhongli would meet reader. I already knew that it would be a speed run of Enemies to Friends, and slow burn Friends to Lovers. So I wanted their first meeting to be seemingly unremarkable to Zhongli.
In Pursuit of Duty
Summary: The simplest of things can lead to the greatest moments of our life. Meeting you was Zhongli's greatest fortune.
There were a few mortals in Zhongli’s life, both as an Archon and on the few occasions he mingled with humans, that were able to capture his attention or even his praise. And in all of his life, mortal and divine, no one was able to capture his enmity in the way you did.
“Would it really matter what Rex Lapis thinks if we entered and fucked around the domain in Guyun stone forest?”
Zhongli blinked, aghast at your tone as Childe covered his mouth to stifle his laughter.
“What?” You asked the two of them as if you had not merely suggested tampering with the seals of Guyun Stone Forest.
“The entire place is home to the fallen gods” Zhongli reminded you “a graveyard for those who died in the Archon War”
“It’s been decades, they should be already on the reincarnation wheel at this point” You waved his worries off, sending Childe to another fit of laughter while Zhongli felt indignant “‘sides Rex Lapis is busy doing fuck knows what he probably wouldn’t even notice if one of the seals got messed with unless one of the dead Gods decide to fuck shit up”
Zhongli, who was very much Rex Lapis in disguise, very much noticed it and though he was the one who orchestrated this whole scenario, felt no less than pleased with the attitude you were having.
“The dead still deserve to be respected!” Zhongli insisted as he blocked your hand from reaching towards one of the seals.
“You stick in the mud! You make it sound like I’m defiling their graves or something!” You whined “Besides the Heavens must be willing if they had a stray seal plaster itself on my face!”
“It was a ruined seal. The divine powers had long since dwindled from it. Thus, the Heavens had no hand on it” Zhongli stubbornly insisted as he moved to block your path.
On the side, Childe was still laughing loudly.
“That’s it! Fight me you bastard!” You shouted as you took a few steps back and summoned the elements to form your weapon, a spear.
And really, it was almost funny in hindsight, how you would choose his weapon of all things. The one weapon he was best at among others but right now, in this moment, Zhongli had felt more than annoyed.
“Very well” His spear, dragon’s bane, at his side “I accept your challenge.”
There were a few opponents in his life that gave Zhongli a thrill of the battle. Ever fewer were able to make the gears in his head turn as quickly as it did when facing you, each strike of your spear was clearly aiming for his life, and yet the look in your eyes didn’t carry a single thought of murder.
It was frustrating. It was Confusing. It was, most of all, fascinating.
Fighting you brought him back to the days before the Archon Wars, where the Gods of Liyue were at a semblance of peace. It made him remember the joy of fighting someone your equal, it made his blood rush in a way that it had almost forgotten. And Zhongli was starting to see that beyond your heretical ways, behind your annoying mask of affability, was someone who can walk in the path of the divine.
‘No, you would walk in it for the sake of your knowledge’ Zhongli thought as he blocked your attack and moved his feet to kick you in your stomach.
“This ends here” Zhongli declared as he summoned a steele behind your back.
The sound of your back hitting it rang loudly in the air but the look on your face was something he would never forget in a long while.
You spat out blood, shakily standing up from your position, “You win this round! But I swear on Rex Lapis’ six pack abs I’ll find a way to replicate that fucking seal!”
And then you were gone in a spark of electro.
The peaceful sound of waves remained in the air that somehow hung heavy. Childe had stopped laughing and was looking confused as he mused, “That’s the first time in a long while I’ve seen them look like that.”
Zhongli paid no attention to his words and instead picked up the abandoned seal and returned it to its proper position.
“Interesting” Childe muttered, softly and slightly ominous to Zhongli’s ears.
What he found interesting was something Zhongli wisely decided to not entertain. He really hoped that today would be the last time he’d ever have to be in the presence of Childe’s...friend.
For his part, Childe had no regrets in introducing Zhongli to you, or rather having Zhongli experience the misfortune of knowing you. From the moment Childe had met you again, he knew that his life would be thrown out of whatever carefully calculated plan Pulcinella had made. And it was one he was happy with, if the rumors in Snezhnaya had him part of the chaos then you were chaos incarnate.
It was precisely the reason why Childe had brought Zhongli with him when meeting you in the Guyun Stone Forest.
“A friend of mine, an expert in the ways of the divine and assorted knowledge, would lend us their skills in challenging the...impossible, shall we say” Childe said on the way “Most of their thoughts are heretical, almost, but well no one has ever said it wasn’t effective in reaching the desired result.”
“Ah, a researcher from Sumeru then?” Zhongli had asked, the light in eyes glinting in interest.
“Of sorts” Childe answered because as much as you stayed in Sumeru, most of your knowledge had come from your own experiments and cases from clients seeking answers the divine could not give.
This was why you were almost heretical.
“I must warn you that for them the sacred can be profaned and the profane can be sacred” Childe added as they reached the shores of Guyun Stone Forest, and found you basking under the gentle rays of sunlight in front of the Domain.
Zhongli stared at you, the sight of you head looking up with your eyes closed as it felt the warmth of the sunlight. Geo crystalflies surrounding you as a light breeze had the ends of your hair fluttering in the wind.
“Who is that?” Zhongli asked.
“My friend, the infamous Xiézhihuā Mìngfù of Liyue” Childe answered.
In that exact moment, you slowly opened your eyes, lashes fluttering softly as you blinked. The wind blew and a rain of leaves fell on you, gentle and calm as you stared at them.
--
Like an ill-fated omen, Zhongli began to notice you on the streets of Liyue Harbor. Rumors and words of your deeds would reach his ears, on occasion some of your cases would be told in the tea houses.
“Miracle” a few bystanders would say.
“Heretical” the few devout traditionalists would mutter in hushed tones.
But all agreed that you were a genius. An innovator that brought changes like a storm. You gathered envy and admiration in your wake, foreign nobles and dignitaries seeking you out for consultations or to ask for your help. And yet, for all of your infamy and prestige, Zhongli often found you amidst the crowd of orphans or Liyue’s slum dwellers.
Sometimes, Childe was with you, other times it was Director Hu and her friends, the second young master of the Feiyun Guild and the exorcist. In one memorable moment, Yanfei. But more often than not you were by yourself, answering questions from children with a pleasant smile and mischievous glint in your eyes.
It was such a huge contrast from the one he first met that it made Zhongli pause and observe you from afar. Enough times that those around him would say, “No need for alarm, Mr. Zhongli. Xiézhihuā Mìngfù is honorable.”
It was those words that made him ponder. For all of your borderline heretical actions, miracle works that trespass on the Divine, the entirety of Liyue agreed that you were honorable.
It wasn’t until Childe had asked for his help did he cross paths with you again. Weeks of avoiding you to maintain peace were all for naught when he found himself in your presence once more. A jar of osmanthus wine on your hand and an ingratiating smile on your face, you offered it to him and said, “Osmanthus wine, I’ll give this to you so don’t be a stick in the mud!”
In his youth, he would have immediately brawled with you. But now, Zhongli settled for drinking a cup of tea with contempt as much as the act could convey. Your laughter, melodious, rang in the private room of Liuli Pavillion.
“Aiyo! What a tough crowd!” You said as you sat opposite him and placed the bottle in the center of the table, “Then shall we begin anew? My birth name is a secret, my courtesy name is a secret, my title is Xiézhihuā Mìngfù! Xié for Heretic, zhi for knowledge, and huā for flower!”
“What kind of introduction is that?” Childe teased as he began his battle with chopsticks.
“An unforgettable one!” You replied, sending a wink to Zhongli who merely pursed his lips.
“I am Zhongli, a consultant for the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor.”
You smiled and decided to leave the matter at that, somethings could not be forced. So you retreated and decided to just straightforwardly tell him your intentions.
“I’ve heard that Mr. Zhongli is knowledgeable in Liyue’s history.”
Zhongli could sense your sincerity, it placated him a bit, made the dismal first meeting a little bit better. So he tries because he is magnanimous and there was no reason to burn a bridge, “I am merely remembering what others have forgotten.”
He looked at you in the eyes, drawn to the way your eyes burn bright with curiosity. It reminded him of Guizhong so he shakes the thought away because the dead and the living must not be compared. But as the conversation grows long, the topics eventually shift from the job to everything else, Zhongli can’t help but notice your innate desire to help those who are unfortunate.
Somehow it made him understand why you were seen as honorable. It wasn’t until all of you were facing unknown danger did he realize what it truly meant when used on you.
The case you were asking was slightly connected with Childe’s job for you. The case was about the sudden deaths of several brides that were kidnapped and found dead at an abandoned temple. No one had reported it to the Qixing until one of the victims involved was a distant relative of a Qixing who was to be wedded to one of the Szehnayan Merchants.
Childe had taken the chance to offer aide, calling for your help as one of the known detectives of Fontaine. It had surprised Zhongli, and made him respect you but all of it was quickly thrown away when you had given him a cheeky wink and said, “I can even tell how big a man’s dick is.”
“Shameless” He had admonished and yet he was unaware of the small smile he wore on his face.
The investigation led the three of you to a small village in the mountain, with a local shrine that was dedicated to an old god that even Zhongli had never heard of. The three of you had pored over legends passed down by mouth, discussing and comparing with the records found in Liyue’s public library and scholars. Childe, through his seemingly endless funds, had paid for information on every victim so far that wasn’t in the packet given by the millelith. Zhongli, with his seemingly endless connections, had talked to everyone and anyone that had studied Liyue’s countless lores and legends. And you had talked with the family of the victims, investigating the crime scene and connecting everything that could lead to an answer.
That was how Zhongli found you, messed up clothes and tired eyes poring over documents in the middle of discarded papers that laid on the dark wood floor of your secluded residence in Minlin.
“Have you not slept?” Zhongli asked, frowning as he made his way towards you.
“Not yet” You answered as you got up and discarded the paper you were reading to go to your wide cork board that held all the relevant information you had, “I’m close to figuring out what sort of deity or demon we’re going to fight.”
“What about the reason?”
“Solved it ages ago” You answered carelessly, pointing at the left corner of the board.
Zhongli went over and flitted through the papers on that side until he found what he was looking for.
“A vengeful bride?”
“Mn” You replied as you removed a pin and replaced the paper with an old newspaper clipping “There was a record of a previous incident however the Ghost of that time was listed as defeated. The stories all claim that the ghost was of savage rank, and disappeared after letting go of their obsession.”
“Then it returned?” Zhongli turned to you, alarmed and visibly frowning.
“No.”
You sighed and rubbed your aching forehead, “This was a man made disaster that went out of hand, I’m sure that whoever started this is probably dead. Chances are the first death awakened a sealed something” You looked at him, eyes serious “I’m figuring out just how old this thing is and what exactly are we going to face.”
“...The older it is…”
“The harder it would be to defeat it. Liyue’s lands are drenched in blood. Old grudges mixed with new ones from the Archon Wars. With cultivation clans dying out and having a single yaksha around, the karmic cycle of Liyue is already out of balance” You revealed and Zhongli was amazed with your discovery.
“Is there anything Rex Lapis could do?”
“...Fixing the karmic cycle? None. Solving this? His dragon qi would only end up being corrupted or he’d be punished by the Heavenly Dao. Time has changed a lot of things, but the rule that the Gods may not interfere with the mortal realm remains true.”
Both of you remained silent, You stared blankly at your board while Zhongli watched you. The heavy air from your words made your heart heavy, and Zhongli could see it. The fear that lingered in your eyes, the firm determination to save lives.
It left a ripple in the calm waters of his heart. A small unnoticeable ripple.
“Is it worth it?” Zhongli asked “Is it worth betting on your life to save the common people?”
You smiled at him, almost pitying, “To an adeptus like you, the amount of times mortals would bet on their lives to save others must be few, but Zhongli...I am the sort to always think that the common people are worthy.”
At that moment, Guizhong’s words echoed in his mind.
“Let me help you.”
--
A red sedan trudges up the mountain path, intending to pass through the temple. Behind the bridal sedan was a short entourage carrying three chests of dowry. In front of the sedan, were two people beating drums to celebrate the auspicious day.
Zhongli, Baizhu, and the Fatui disguised as locals were on alert as it watched the ominous trees of the mountain road. You sat inside the sedan, meditating in lotus position. Chongyun and Xingqiu were waiting in the temple where the zombified bodies of the previous brides were found. You had advised Ajax to not participate in the inevitable battle. Ensuring the possibility that his abyssal powers would react badly with ancient powers. With all of the preparations, you hoped that the odds would be in your favor.
You sighed softly, eyes opening as you felt the air change. You readied your weapon as soon as you heard the sounds of fighting.
The door opens and you throw out a talisman. In a quick move you stepped out, geo shield forming around you as you began plucking the strings of the Guqin. You looked at your enemy and found your heart easing up.
What stood before you was neither an ancient deity or demon, but rather a ghost on the verge of breaking through the Malice Rank.
“Don’t fear! We can subdue this one!” You informed your party, as you played the Sound of Vanquish.
Vines subdued the ghost, wearing the red robes of a groom. The Fatui began surrounding the ghost. Nine stone pillars acted as the foundation of the seal, pulsing with geo energy.
You felt rather than saw Chongyun come close, allowing you to draw upon his yang energy to balance out the pure yin energy of the ghost. Xingqiu stood on standby ready to recite the incantation for parting in case the seal fails.
The final notes of the song lingered in the air as Zhongli walked towards you, eyes never leaving the ghost, “I thought it was a bride.”
“A minor mistake” You replied as you played Inquiry.
‘Who are you’
The ghost didn’t answer.
‘Who are you’ you repeated the question.
‘Kill me’ it answered.
Your hands stilled in the air. You sighed and looked up from the strings and found yourself staring straight at the eyes of the ghost. Stunned at the mixture of emotions in its eyes.
“...There is no need to surrender to despair, your soul can still be saved.”
The ghost gave a mocking smile, “So what? My Chang’er is gone. We can never meet again in this life or the next.”
Zhongli’s eyes widened at the implication, just as Chongyun let out a small gasp. You felt your heart turn heavy even so you soldiered on, there was a need to find out the cause of this tragedy.
“Then tell me, why did you kill those women?”
“They deserved it!” The ghost screamed in anger, “They killed her! They killed her like she was nothing! Chang’er was innocent! They knew she was innocent and still-”
“You could have reported to the Millelith!” Chongyun said.
Cold mocking laughter rang loudly in the air, in it you could hear the bitterness of defeat and anger.
“Would it have done anything when the person behind this is an official? You’re too naive, boy!”
You closed your eyes, took a deep breath and decided to shield Chongyun from one of the dark sides of Liyue.
“Are you really forsaking salvation?”
“Yes.”
Zhongli watched as you walked towards the ghost and asked its name. He watched as the ghost whispered its name and you nodded before raising your hands, your index and middle finger pointing towards the sky, while the rest were closed.
Light gathered on your finger tips, the air charged with spiritual energy that was not of Celestial origin. It was an ancient divine power that Zhongli used to feel before he ascended to the peak of cultivation as a dragon.
With one downward stroke, the light slashed through the ghost. The light was so blinding that Zhongli had to shield his eyes as he watched the ghost turn into dust, its soul scattering to the wind. Your back stood straight, your hair gently fluttering.
Even though you were expressionless, Zhongli felt the heaviness of your heart. Despite that your eyes remained strong, unyielding as righteousness burned in your eyes. He watched as you strode in Ningguang’s jade chamber, as you reported your findings.
He accompanied you in going back to the village where it all began as you read the Liyue Qixing’s edict. He watched as you went beyond what Childe asked and went to the unmarked grave of Chang’er, offering incense on the blood stained stones of the temple.
He went with you as you sat on the highest mountain peak in Bishui, looking at the horizon with a blank look in your eyes. He didn’t speak and instead poured you a cup of osmanthus wine and silently waited.
“...Sometimes, I wonder if I can remain in the path of righteousness” You spoke, “I can never understand the hearts of humans, how could they easily ruin someone’s reputation, ruin someone’s life because of greed? I can’t understand why there was a need to go as far as scattering the soul?”
You cried without any tears, and Zhongli remained silent, unable to answer something he had always witnessed in his long life.
“Have you changed your answer?” He asked as he stared at his cup of wine.
“No” You replied and Zhongli could hear the self-mockery in your tone, “Even if one day I find myself in unbearable pain, I’ll never stop believing that the common people are worthy of saving.”
You looked at Zhongli, solemn in your bearing as the sun disappeared in the sky “Zhongli, no one has the right to decide on the outcome of human lives. Be it human or adepti.”
Zhongli thought back to the case, the sad story of two lovers who parted eternally because of jealousy and greed. The greediness of an official’s son for a woman who had no affection for him, the jealousy of the ladies over the popular young scholar. The selfish righteousness of the village folk that stoned an innocent woman to death over ruined reputation.
Zhongli thought of his contract. He wondered for a moment what you would say to him if knew that he dared to bet on the safety of Liyue and its people.
He closed his eyes and drank the wine that still tasted as he remembered.
“I pray that your heart remains in paradise.”
You toasted him and smiled softly. Zhongli vowed to never forget how beautiful you looked in that moment, with the slight smile gracing your lips as you drank the osmanthus wine.
The moon was beautiful that night.
--
Zhongli watched from afar as Osial rose. His thoughts echoing to the oath you swore that day in Guyun. A part of his heart felt sad and yet in awe of what you had accomplished.
He watched as the Millelith, Adepti and Fatui worked together to evacuate the civilians. He watched as humans and adepti fought together to bring down Osial once more. He felt proud and relieved at the result, glad at the knowledge that Liyue had no need of him anymore and yet a part of him felt trepidation.
The knowledge that the Age of Archons was drawing to a close. He thought of you, a beloved child of the Heavens, who could boldly declare that the Gods can be wrong. He thought of the words you spoke that night.
He thought of the days he spent with you, the rare times he went along with your tricks and harmless schemes. The easy way the two of you became friends. You were the first person he had easily became friends with, he mused at how quickly his dislike of you melted into fondness.
The way his heart had pinched when you said he wasn’t fun. The elation from being one of the few people you found interesting. He thought all of this as he handed his gnosis, as he kept his reason a secret. He thought of this as he looked around Liyue that had no need of him anymore, he thought of you as his feet automatically walked to where you were.
He stood away from you, watching as you cared for the wounded and then silently left. He spent the aftermath ruminating on his decision, on his actions while silently watching your actions with Childe during the last week of his stay in Liyue.
He waited for you to come to him, and ask him the question he could not answer. He steeled his heart and yet when you came to him, you didn’t ask and instead began talking about your recent adventures, asking him of his days and Zhongli didn’t know what to feel.
He knew that you knew nothing then. That you remained unaware of the truth but he let himself believe that you didn’t mind. So he spent his days with you, silently caring for you, protecting you in his own way.
He let himself bask in your vibrant presence, allowed himself to savor the feeling of watching you walk the path of righteousness. He unknowingly and willingly let you walk inside his heart, step by step, with each moment you spent helping others.
The days spent by your side, knowing the parts of yourself that no one else knew was the closest he felt in being mortal. It was so easy to forget that you remained ignorant when he spent his time worrying about your ability to be where chaos was, when his heart was easily influenced by you.
But now, in the privacy of the Dwelling in the Clouds, Zhongli watched as you grew disappointed. Your soft laughter filled with heartbreak and weariness broke his heart for reasons he couldn’t understand.
He regretted not telling you the truth when he had the chance.
He hated how he had no right to wipe away your tears even though he had spent countless nights and days warming your bed.
“Zhongli, I hate how I can understand why you did it” Your voice was so soft “Really, as an Archon you are undeniably good, you are peerless in that regard.”
He closed his eyes and readied himself for your next words.
“But I can’t call you a good person. Human lives aren’t something you should bet on so easily, no matter how careful you are” Your disappointment, your grief, and your weariness were all visible in your tone and body language.
He remained where he stood, watching as you descended. Each step breaking his heart as he slowly understood what you meant to him. He cried silently as you disappeared below the clouds and slowly sank on the ground.
For the first time in his life, Zhongli didn’t know what to do. There was no one he could turn to. He dreaded going back to a cold empty house devoid of you. He feared going back to the days that were dull, to a time where you did not exist in his life.
Where the sound of your voice was not commonplace, or the comforting scent of your magic that lingered in the space you occupied.
Zhongli laughed, loud and unrestrained, mocking himself for his stupidity. He hated how he didn’t realize it sooner, if he did then perhaps things would not turn out this way. He cried with all of his broken heart as he remembered the loneliness in your eyes.
He drank his sorrows away and as daylight broke through the clouds, he stumbled his way home. To the place that was devoid of you who he loved.
He fell on his bed that still smelled like you and silently cried himself to sleep.
He was already missing you dearly.
--
You stared at Zhongli, eyes distant as he stood in front of your door. A distant part of you wondered if things could be fixed, if the two of you could move forward from this pain.
But the rest of you were waiting for further disappointment, you knew the bone-deep pride of Gods. You understood that there was a bigger chance that Zhongli would cease contact with you, no one can easily put down years of habit and thought as a god so easily.
And yet as Zhongli stood beneath you, looking up to you. You couldn’t help but hope.
“...I can’t apologize for what I did” Zhongli began, “I don’t regret doing it the way I planned but I regret that I didn’t think of another way to test my people.”
You remained silent.
“I asked you once if the common people are worthy, the truth is I don’t know whether I find them worthy or not...but with you…” Zhongli trailed off, he felt that his next words were heavy.
He was afraid of laying his heart bare to you. The deepest parts of him that he didn’t fully understand, “I know that your life alone is worthy. I am a being born from rock, gaining humanity through cultivation. My heart is made of stone, softened by the dust. I don’t know if I would ever understand what being human means and everything it entails…”
You stared at him, unmoving, silently and patiently hearing him out.
“But I know that the only way I can keep on being with you is by changing this stone heart. So please, let me walk by your side, protecting you and your belief.”
Zhongli bent his waist, solemnly asking for your forgiveness and acceptance. He heard your footsteps coming closer and swore to himself to accept whatever the outcome would be.
“Stand straight.”
He stood and then he found himself in your embrace, your familiar scent filled his nose and Zhongli gently and firmly hugged you back. He held you fearing that all of it was an illusion.
“Let me learn how to be good while staying by your side” He whispered.
“I was afraid” You replied “of how easily you can decide on the outcome of your people’s life and death.”
You hugged him tighter, “I know that you still have secrets that you can’t tell. That even as you live as a mortal, the consequences of your actions as an Archon is something you would live with for the rest of your life. So I won’t judge you for that but Zhongli, I can’t be with someone who can easily bet on other’s life.”
“I understand.”
He thought of your words in Qingyun Peak, your confession that night in Minlin. He thought of the day he met you. He thought of the words he said in that temple ruin.
Zhongli understood what it meant to walk by your side, to take the same path as you did. He knew that from this moment onwards he would never be able to untangle himself from you. There was no room for anything else in his heart that was filled with you. It would always remain with you even if one day his entire being ends up in the abyss.
‘As long as your heart remains in paradise, I don’t mind letting myself fall into the abyss.

Shinnie!! Everything you write amazes! Each chapter of Everything gets more poignant even when I think it can’t. How Everything is called back to in every chapter and is always there in the back of your mind i so well done. Hurts every time!! 🥲
The way Tessa is really giving the ick right now is so beautifully crafted, and that’s not even starting on how you capture Ben and Sophie’s feelings. What motivates this woman? Spite? Blind ignorance? I don’t know except I know I don’t like itttt. You’ve got my emotions in the palm of your hand😅. I really hope Alex finds out soon and kicks her to the curb bc idk if I can take knowing. Do you have plans to make her sympathetic/redeemable, or is she only a villain in the benophie blip?
Thank you so much for your writing! It never fails to make my day that extra bit better☺️
So, while Tessa is definitely a villain in Sophie's perspective, Benedict's ex never set out to hurt Sophie personally.
Tessa has lived the typical bohemian life of an artist since she last encountered Benedict. She lives her life the way she so chooses to and she's surrounded herself with like-minded free-loving people, and among these people she's never had to adhere to the conventions of society. When she met Benedict again, she was intrigued to find out about the famed artist who lives outside of the hedonistic confines of his offbeat peers. It fascinated her to hear how he's led a fairly ordinary life out in the country with the same woman and raised a family, and she truly wondered if the life he presented to the world was as perfect as he made it out to be. She surely thought that he must be in need of release, of a bit of fun, and seeing as he's still doing well for his age, she felt it was in his best interest if she provided him with some much needed relief. When he pushed her aside and ran after his wife, however, she realised that perhaps Benedict Bridgerton really was a different man from the rest of the artists she knew.
She doesn't think anything more of him; and then to her surprise she bumps into Benedict's younger mirror image at an artists party. Of course she's not surprised to discover he's a Bridgerton - but she is surprised when the younger man flirts with her. Tessa is not the type of person to have any qualms of crossing certain lines and if anything the idea of bedding the son of a previous lover is quite amusing to her. Essentially she goes ok, bet and decides to enjoy herself, as she always has done.
And when she's romping with Alexander in his lodgings and they are interrupted by the woman who interrupted Tessa's attempt to seduce Benedict, Tessa can't help but be tickled by the whole thing. Neither time had she expected Sophie to come across her in the act with either the woman's husband or son, but c'est la vie. From Tessa's perspective, the whole scenario is treated with an ayyy lmao kind of reaction. In her opinion she doesn't owe anything to any of these people; she's just here for a good time and had never anticipated getting caught up in their family drama. And after her dalliance with Alexander comes to end, Tessa doesn't even think about the Bridgertons again and truly has no idea of the effect she's had on them, oblivious to the family turmoil that's gone on.
I won't be writing anything from her perspective for Bridgerton Insights, but she will pop up again during Alexander's story in which their affair is covered.

Bakugo:
• Baking was usually a thing you did was Bakugo
• So when he got back to the dorms after training and the smell of sweets hit his nose, he stormed to the kitchen
• You smiled sweetly at him hands behind your back, this struck his curiosity
“What are you hiding?”
• You smiled and bounced excitedly
“Ta-Da!”
• He saw a small cartoon replica of him in your hands, in the shape of a cookie
“That’s not the only one!”
• Behind you there was a Denki chomping on a mini Bakugo
“Tastes sweet, something Bakugo isn’t.”
“OI! Shut up dunce face!”
• You giggled as Bakugo angrily bit into his look alike cookie you had handed him, his angry features being taken over by a soft one
“This is so good..”
“Thank you!”
• You smiled and tightened your cute apron before continuing to roll more cookie dough to make cut outs
“Ba-ku-go!”
• You placed the letters in order on the tray, and Bakugo turned away blushing
“Go shower you stink I can smell you all the way from over here!”
“Shut up woman!”
• With that he sprinted up the stairs to get shower like you said
• Denki walked over to the tray to grab another cookie while you were taking the ones you just baked out from the oven
“No!” *slap*
• Denki rubbed his stinging hand frowning as you sighed and handed him two messed up cookies
• With that he ran off
“Look! Y/n gave me cookies!”
“Huh? Y/n?! What about me?!”
• Mina ran in as you smiled at her
“Go take one of Denki’s I gave him two.”
• Bakugo was confused on why the two were fighting each other on the couch and you were placing the letter cookies in the oven and going back to icing the cookies
• But the confusion turned into a surprised one when he saw you frosting little blasty cookies 🥺
“Why are you making so many cookies about me?”
• You turned to look at him, setting the frosting down
“Why? Do you not like them? Is it creepy? It is isn’t it. Oh my gosh.”
• You turned and smashed a Bakugo cookie with your fist causing him to jump back
“What the hell woman?! I was just asking what spiked your interest to want to make me into a cookie Damn it!”
• Denki came in to swoop up that cookie your crushed
“Oh... well, I was bored and I saw someone on Pinterest do it.”
• Pinterest... you and Pinterest man you always did things right away when you saw a cool idea
“Y/n will you make Denki cookies next?!”
“Sur-“
“In your dreams dumbass!”
Kirishima:
• He loved your baking
• If he was having a bad day, it’s like you somehow knew and he’d come back to the dorms to see you baking something for him
• Today was a specifically bad day, sparring didn’t do as planned, his quirk was out of control and Bakugo was in a pissy mood too worsening things for him
• All he wanted to do was go back to the dorms and sleep
• Upon entering the dorms he was tackled in a hug
“You’re back! I missed you!”
• Kirishima slowly took you off, automatically happy with your presence
• His pure happiness, you. You always knew how to change his mood any time he was upset
• You bounced on your feet before showing him a tiny baggie wrapped nicely
“What’d you bake this time y/n?”
“Open itttt!”
• He laughed at your excitement and opened the bag to pull out an cool looking R and a cartoon cookie version of him in his hero costume
“This is so badass!”
“Yeah!?”
“Hell yeah!”
• He placed a kiss on your forehead and looked at the cookies walking into the kitchen with you following behind him
“You baked more?!”
“I had too much dough.”
• He looked at you shoving something behind your back
“What was that?”
“Huh? Nothing..”
“Y/n.”
• He took the tray behind you and saw a bunch of messed up cookies
“Why is my head smaller than the rest of my body?!”
“That’s the reject pile babe.”
• He laughed picking one up
“My chest doesn’t look like this!”
“I went off a picture of you and I got distracted by your abs Shut Up!”
• Now he was full on cackling making you smile as he bit into it, his smile fell
“This is so good.”
• He shoveled cookies into his mouth
“Slow down! They’re not going anywhere!”
• He stopped and turned to look at you, as you frantically gave him some water
• He took it and placed it on the counter leaning down to wrap his arms around your waist
• The change of behavior threw you off but you weren’t complianing as you wrapped your arms around him too
• Nuzzling his face into your neck placing small innocent kisses he whispered
“Thank you.”
• You smiled stroking his hair
“Don’t worry about it, I had fun.”
• He lifted his head
“No, thank you. I was having the worst day and... everything you do and everything about you just knows how to make those problems seem like nothing.”
• Placing a kiss on his lips that he gladly returned you smiled warmly whispering to him
“You’re welcome my love.”
• The moment was ruined by Sero pushing past you two and taking the tray of cookies
“Sorry I’ll be taking these...”
“No they’re mine”
“They don’t have your name on them.”
“They LITERALLY are of me.”
Todoroki:
• He knows you love baking, especially for everyone in the dorms
• But with the sports festival coming up, he knows you are a tad bit more on edge than usual
• And he knows how you are when on edge
“Y/n? Why are you up? It’s 3 AM.”
• You stopped anxiously folding the dough before you looked at him
• You looked sleep deprived... like a raccoon
“Let me just finish baking this and then I’ll go to bed.”
• He sighed and nodded, he knew there was no arguing with you because you would only ignore him and continue
• You went back to cutting the shape carefully while he looked at you worriedly
“Don’t people usually train rather than bake of a sports festival is coming up...”
• He whispered to himself before seeing you smile to yourself, and that smile was all he needed to know you’ll be just fine
• The next morning you, completely sleep deprived charged into his room seeing him just waking up
“Good morning!”
• He sat up as you closed his door and jumped onto his bed, a small container in your hands
“I would say good morning to you but it doesn’t look like you slept.”
• You giggled scratching the back of your head sheepishly before handing him the small container
• He took it and opened it, seeing small cartoon replicas of him frosted perfectly, of him smiling, him using his quirk and him just looking serious
• He smiled and looked at the other ones of just fire and ice that he gladly but into and tried
“Do you like them?”
“I love them, and I’d love for you to get some sleep.”
• You nodded and took the container placing it on his nightstand
• Even with the light shining in from his room you still laid down closing your eyes, about ready to knock out cold for awhile
“What made you want to bake cookies of me?”
“I just love you, and with the sports festival coming up I know you’re really strong. I’m excited to see you fight and I wanted to do something for you.”
• He looked at your closed eyes, without knowing it you were smiling as you went on about how much you admired him
• He leaned down and kissed you, catching you off guard but regardless you kissed him back
“And you’ll do amazing as well.”
“Psh, yeah okay.”
• With that you nuzzled your head into his chest hugging him while he placed an arm around you
“Hey y/n can I have some of these Todoroki cookies?”
“Shhh Deku she’s asleep-“
“OI! WHERE DID ALL THE EGGS GO!? IT WAS YOU WASN’T IT DEKU?!”
“K-Kacchan!? No! I just woke up!”
“Wake her up! She has to go buy eggs!”
“Wake me up Bakugo. Do it. Wake me up.”
• He left you alone after that 😃

Disclaimer: My sucky writing again. Bad grammar and spelling😂 Character death. And bad plot in general.
Your POV
Excitement. Thats all I could say I was feeling at the moment. To finally be back in Kattegat with my family was something I never thought would have happened again. After my father’s grand announcement of my return, the room overflowed with happiness. People were coming up to me, asking me where I had been for the past 6 years and how I had survived. Obviously, I tried to answer everyone’s questions to the best of my ability without giving too much information. For I still didn't know, the true reason as to why I had to leave or who wanted me gone.
The happiness in the hall however did not last very long. Aslaug, the woman who was questioning Bjorn earlier that night. Was actually my father’s wife. “Im sorry? She's your what now?!?!” Aslaug screams of sorrow over my existence could probably be heard all the way in Frankia. My father however, seemed to have very little interest in her reactions at all. He had cast her to the side as if she meant nothing to him. During the course of the next few hours neither my father nor Bjorn left my side. It was as if they thought something would occur to me if I was out of their side for more than a second. “Father, if it is alright with you I would like to go outside for some fresh air.” I tell him, whilst grasping his hand to truly catch his attention. Cupping my face he says “My sweet little girl, you may do anything you please. However, I would prefer that you do not stray too far from here, as I have just gotten you back. And I would not be able to handle losing you again.” With that he gives me a kiss on my forehead and sends me on my way.
However, I can still feel the overbearing presence of my older brother. “Bjorn, you know Im not gonna run away, if thats what you're afraid of.” I tell him whilst stepping outside. “Im not afraid of you running away. Im afraid of something happening to you (y/n). Plus worrying about you is my job, always has been.” Leaning on one of the wooden beams, I cant help but to stare up at the sky and hold my cross between my fingers. Thinking to myself how different life would have been if I had not left. “ Im only a few steps away shout if anything happens. Okay?” “Okay! And Bjorn... I love you.” At that Bjorn kisses my forehead and walks back inside.
Unbeknownst to me, a certain dark haired man was lurking in the shadows. “Awwww, If I had a heart I would think that was probably the sweetest reunion Ive ever seen.” Turning to the sound of that familiar voice, I see Ivar leaning on his crutch making his way towards me. “I never thought that I would have a sister. And a Christian one at that.” The way that his eyes scan over my body makes me feel a certain way that I cannot quite describe. And the way that his features are outlined by the moonlight really gives a sense of how handsome he is. “Wait, are you implying that...”
“Well, if all Christians are as slow as you I don't think we’ll have a problem conquering them.” A smirk is displayed on his face, while his eyes show a hint of deviance in them. “Why do you think that Bjorn and Ubbe look so much alike (y/n)?” “Or the fact that we all share similar traits like our eyes?” As Ivar continues to talk down to me as if I were a child, I start to connect the dots. Why it was that Bjorn and Ubbe look alike. The way that they all seem to share the same traits as my father. The four young men that Bjorn introduced me too, are actually my brothers.
With wide eyes I come to the realization that...“You’re my brother.” “Took you long enough.” At that Ivar seems to crack what looks like a genuine smile. “You know, I always thought that I was the youngest, but now that I'm not...” The genuine smile I had probably imagined was now a devious one. “ Now, baby sister. Why don't you and I go and sit down by those steps down there. And you can tell big brother Ivar, what you've been up to all this time?” Without being able to answer, Ivar grabs my hands and takes me towards the steps. Why do I feel like this night is just getting started...
-----------------------------------------
Ivar POV
Needless to say all of us were in shock to learn that (y/n) was our sister. Especially Hvitserk, who had not only been enchanted by her beauty, but was already planning how he would take her from Bjorn. I however, knew something was up the minute I saw her in the great hall. She had no scars whatsoever on her body, meaning she wasn't a shield-maiden. And absolutely no callouses on her fingers from when she took the ale, meaning she definitely wasn't a thrall. And Bjorn wouldn't cheat on Torvi, unless he wants his balls cut off. Something intrigued me about her instantly. It was if she had been sent to me by the Gods, her sharp tongue reminded me of mine. The way that she stood up for my mother not even knowing that she had caused Lagertha and Ragnar to break up amazed me. The way she handled herself with grace and dignity was exactly what I wanted. No, what I need for in a wife.
“Ivar, are you okay? You've been staring at me for the past 5 mins without saying a word.” (y/n) places her hand on my knee to draw my attention whilst looking straight into my eyes. “As a matter of fact, Im trying to piece together, how we’re the same age, and we never met before you left.” As she goes to lift her hand from my knee, something instinctively goes over me and I grab her and hold it were it was. The initial shock she and I both had at my actions soon subsided. She let her hand rest under mine. As if we had done this countless times before, our fingers intertwined and they in my eyes fit perfectly. I could see the inner turmoil inside her, on whether these small affectionate moments between us were something that was so wrong, but that felt so right.
It was not just moments ago that I had found out she was indeed my sister. Blood of my blood. But somehow, something in me told me that we were meant to be. I felt safe and strangely loved by this person in front of me, whom I have never met before. “You know Ivar, we lived on a farm. I was 100% certain that I would be a farm girl for the rest of my life. I was content with knowing that I would spend my life tending to the animals and my family. But, this is just too much.” Looking down at where our once intertwined hands were. I see that she is now staring at the ground playing with the ends of her long braided hair. “Why? Because you feel as if you're not good enough? Look at me for Odin’s sake! Im a cripple!” At that moment our eyes connected and I saw a reflection of myself in her. A scared child who was deprived of a normal childhood. Seeking for acceptance and love from anyone.
“(Y/n), come inside father wishes to speak to you.” Bjorn says coming out from the great hall ale in hand. Clearly drunk as well. “Sure thing, I’ll be there in a second.” As she goes to stand up (y/n) turns to me and kisses me on the cheek. “Thank you for the pep talk, big brother.”
I knew that I could not be the only one feeling this way. She had to have been feeling the same about me. And I will go to the ends of the world and face the God’s themselves if they think that for a second I will not make her mine.
Your POV
What had I just done! I kissed him whether it be on the cheek or not. I kissed Ivar. My brother. Oh lord, forgive me for these sinful thoughts are consuming me. The intense feeling I got from us holding hands and from when he stared into my eyes. I had felt at home. Felt safe, felt something that I should only be feeling for the man I should marry. Not my brother! As I enter the great hall, all eyes turn on me. Remembering what I had just talked to Ivar about, I keep my head up. I shouldn't be ashamed, or feel as if I'm less than I am.
As I make my way to my father through the crowd once he spots me his eyes light up immediately. Sitting on his thrown he extends his hand and makes me sit on the throne beside his. “My beautiful daughter are you feeling alright now?” He says to me a little louder as if to make sure that people know not to mess with me. “Y..yes father Im feeling much better.” I murmur to him. At that moment my eyes trail off as if to find something that would take me out of this position right now. I have never been one to be the centre of attention. And as much as I wanna believe in myself that I can be a good princess to my people, at the moment that is not going to happen. As I scan the room my eyes land on Hvitserk. He’s eating a piece of chicken las if it were his last meal ever. I cannot help, but to laugh at him and that when he notices. He flashes a smile that could certainly melt any lady’s heart. Without realizing I tuck a strand of hair behind my ear and bit my lip. Biting my lip when Im nervous is something Ive always done.
However, what did not realize was Ivar eyeing me from behind him. At that I stop and stare at the ground. As the hours go by, finally the last person leaves the great hall. Leaving only my father and brothers with me. “Sooooo, where is (y/n) supposed to sleep, father?” Asks Ubbe. Coming from behind me Hvitserk puts his arm around my shoulders bringing me closer to his body. “She can sleep with me! I don't mind sharing my bed with her.” At this Ivar scoffs. “Of course you wouldn't, you wouldn’t mind sharing your bed with anything that has a pulse.” I tilt my head trying to figure out whatever he means by that. And all that can be heard is the snickering of my father.
“I was thinking that perhaps I could sleep with Bjorn. You know since we used to share a room when we were little...” I say wishing that what I feel most comfortable with could be taken into account. “I don't know about that one baby sis, you'd have to ask Torvi. She defiantly doesn't like sharing thats for sure.” as Ivar says this he smirks at me while taking bite out of his apple. “Who’s Torvi?” “Wait! Bjorn didn't tell you? He's married.”
At that moment a scream was heard throughout the town.
“Oh My God, Mira!!!!” at that moment I shot out of Hvitserk’s arms and ran as fast as I could. How could I have been so stupid that I left my friend by herself in an unknown place. Seeing the people gathered around Bjorn's cabin only made my heart more nervous. Pushing my way past the crowd I make it up the steps in one piece. But what I saw would forever haunt me. There on the floor lied my once best friend and most trusted subject Mira. And on her back was carved the death rune. All I remember is hitting the floor and watching a pair of worried and frantic electric blue eyes.

Dandelion | (the shortest) Short Story Update + publication!
Hey People of Earth!
***UPDATE: I wrote this update wayyyy back in September, and waited to post it in case I went down the publication route. I am so glad to announce that this story has been featured in Germ Magazine (a lit mag super close to my heart)! The link to read it will be at the end of this post!***
Guess who’s back to spill the tea on another writing project (its ya boy).
It’s been a while since I’ve updated you all on a writing project, so I thought it’d be fun to make a come back with an all new piece!
The piece I’ll be discussing in this post is a flash fiction piece I wrote called Dandelion. This story came to fruition because it was my first major writing assignment in my writing class. The guidelines went as follows:
Draft a 300 word story based on a writing prompt in order to better understand showing and telling
Try to Make It Work
The prompt:
A harried waiter or waitress serves a party of six rather unruly diners.
The only thing I was having some reservations about is that this story is supposed to have six characters (seven including the first person narrator) and it’s 300 words long. < the death of me??
I honestly don’t have very much experience in writing short fiction. I’ve written a lil somethin somethin for school, and for contests here and there, but it’s never been very good. I especially have 0% experience in flash fiction. Nonetheless, this seemed like perfect practice.
I dashed out the semblance of a beginning yesterday before I went to work which went:
There’s pizza stuck between his teeth, but he’s seven, so I shouldn’t blame him. His mother’s name is Matilda. She goes in for a handshake when I reach for my notepad, and her palms leave mine smelling of dollar store cucumber melon.
“Would you like a napkin for that, hon?” I mean to ask the boy, but the mother answers a curt, we’re okay, always grab extras at the drive-thru!
like ew no lol
I was literally only on the third sentence when I decided I wasn’t digging the POV. So after getting some advice from @sarahkelsiwrites, I decided to scrap that, and start over today!
OH BOY was that not as easy as I thought!
I’m just sort of disgustingly horrible at writing openings. I have a hard time coming up with ideas and most importantly getting past the first sentence. When the opening is rolling, I’m good to go, but until then, it’s just a gruelling process, ha. I thus, turned to the library, re-borrowed all of my faves (@ the girls @ demi-gods @ history of wolves), and did a two second pass over a few paragraphs from each.
@sarahkelsiwrites had previously given me an idea to make the six unruly guests members of a cult so I had an aha moment, however, I realized this cult angle was not working as I’d intended, and the characters were definitely taking me in a very different direction than I’d planned.
However, I definitely thought playing around with setting could be really cool! I chose 1969 because a lot of very different, but very important things happened in that singular year (which I do mention). I think the late 60s is a super interesting time period and it was super fun to explore in this story particularly.
I thought I’d do a quick tag yourself for you to get to know the characters:
NARRATOR (DAWN):
slightly roasty
is Not Having It but is lowkey too much of a pushover to say anything
silently judging u
THE TWINS
so coordinated ooh
‘want to see my rock collection’
that one weird friend who no one invited to the party
JOHNNY:
the EDGE is so SHARP
#i smoke cuz the aesthetic
patriarchy? fuck itttt
CHERRY:
talk to my lipsmackerssss
can I talk to ur manager
BERNADETTE:
will drag u
insta baddie
UNNAMED PACHINKO BOY:
pAChiNkO
will trade life for pachinko
(i’m johnny but also unnamed pachinko boy is a forever mood?)
Excerpts:
This is the part where I link you to the story! If you want to read this piece, you can check it out HERE. Thanks so much to Germ for featuring me! Hope you enjoy. :)

Step Train Your Activism: Part II
What is it?
A few months ago, we rolled out Step Training Your Activism, a 7-day program designed to ramp up your activism in time for a march, movement, or other form resistance. We hope you liked that and encourage you to keep using it whenever you need a boost before a big show of political activism!
Now, we are proud to announce a new circuit plan for you to try! This plan is a baseline level of political engagement for people who aren’t sure how to stay involved over the long haul, or who are feeling burned out and want a less-intense way to stay connected. We’ve put together 7 days of relatively small and easy tasks to keep you on point without making you want to tear your hair out.
When is it?
Over the next few days, we’ll be posting a more detailed explanation of each day summarized below. The bullet points will turn to links day-by-day so that you can easily navigate to the detailed version of each day’s task. The circuit itself is start-able and stop-able as you desire! The goal is to start and keep going with it as best you can.
What’s it for?
It’s easy during all of this craziness to burn yourself out and become too tired or numb to continue paying attention and resisting, so this circuit is designed to help with that. Each of the 7 days helps you stay up-to-date on political goings-on while limiting the amount of time and energy spent wading through all the muck.
How do I use it?
Any way you want, really. The ordering of these 7 days isn’t set in stone; you can follow them in the order we’ve set out, but if a different setup suits you better, feel free to rearrange things. Use this circuit solo or gather friends or family to help keep each other on point.
So what’s the plan?
Day #1: Keep up with current events
Take 5-10 minutes checking out the headlines. Pick a current issue that you aren’t as familiar with, and read about it from multiple sources. Reflect.
Day #2: Personal activism
Take 5-10 minutes checking out the headlines. Talk to someone about the news you’ve been reading. Get their opinion, compare and contrast ideas. Really listen to what they’re saying.
Day #3: REST
This is a rest day. It’s really important for you to not get burnt out or paralyzingly depressed over the state of the world.
Day #4: Keep up with current events
Take 5-10 minutes checking out the headlines. Find a long form story on a single topic. Really delve in and learn about it. Reflect.
Day #5: General activism
Take 5-10 minutes checking out the headlines. Plan and/or complete an activism activity: write a script for a phone call to your rep, look up or attend a march or rally.
Day #6: REST
This is a rest day. It’s really important for you to not get burnt out or paralyzingly depressed over the state of the world. We advise not even checking headlines but understand that it’s sometimes unavoidable.
Day #7: Personal reflection
Take 5-10 minutes checking out the headlines. Take 15-30 minutes to sit down and sort out your own thoughts. Which stories that you’ve encountered this week interest/affect you most? Why?
But wait, I want to do more!
That’s awesome! DO IT! DOOO ITTTT!!! This plan is intended to be a baseline level of political engagement, but if you feel like adding more, go for it. Here are some other things you can do:
Call your legislators twice a week, or even every day
Join your local Indivisible chapter
Plan an event to put pressure on a local politician
Set up a reach-across-the-aisle event where lots of people can convince Trump supporters not to support Trump
Pick an issue and stay on top of new developments about it
Skip the rest days when you’re feeling especially juiced
But don’t try to do all of these, and definitely don’t try to do all of them at the same time! If you want to throw yourself into fighting the current insanity, that is terrific. But we also encourage you to ask yourself: if I take all this on, will I be too worn out to do the bare minimum of the circuit plan next week/month? If the answer is yes, then you are pushing yourself too hard. It’s okay if your engagement ebbs and flows, but don’t burn yourself out completely.
Now go out there and save this stupid country from itself.
