If you are talking about the scene in the opening sequence of s2ep4 kindaaaaa but not rly let me explain

spoilers for s2 ep4 “it’s been a while” ahead!

in the comic you get a lot of narration (bc that’s just the nature of a comic) where we get this exposition from nolan:

in the opening of the episode this seems to play out but instead there is no narration or any spoken dialogue for that matter. But then we get this beautiful scene that is original to the show

in the show you really see and feel the emotional turmoil that nolan is going through after ruining the live he loved and almost killing his son. He fully is attempting suicide here and the only reason he doesn’t end up going through with it is because he sees the thraxan ship getting pulled into the black hole. Let me repeat the only reason he doesn’t die is because he stops his suicide attempt to save lives.

He’s doing something that I personally think he did while thinking of mark, because mark would do that. He’s the kind of person to save strangers even if it blows up in his face bc of the kind heart his mother raised him with.

In the comic he just kinda meanders thru space and then arrives on thraxa and instantly just becomes like god king bc he’s the oldest and even ends up planning on giving thraxa over to viltrum as sort of “oopsie daisy I fucked up have this instead ok?” It’s something I personally rly did not like from the comic but they thankfully changed that in the show

The only reason he stayed on thraxa in the show and didn’t go back to try and end his life again is because he was asked to stay and to help them. I mean look at this guy he looked 100% ready to go and find that black hole again and finish what he started

In s2ep4 there’s no mention of him saying that he’s gonna give them to viltrum just that the reason he needs mark there is to help protect the people of thraxa and his little brother oliver. Which is a small but very important touch

Also over-all mark pushes back a lot more against his dad than in the comic where he rly just begged him to come home like a sad puppy and then nolan said “I’m not talking ab ur mother lolz”. Again the show fixes this and is doing imo a good job of starting his redemption arc better than the comic, nolan is by no means fully redeemed at all it’s gonna take a while but he’s trying and fucking ur and trying.

write down details & headcanons ★ you don't have to organize them or expand on them! i keep a note on my phone with little things like my f/o's quirks and what i think his favorite color is

write them a letter ★ tell them exactly how you feel, your favorite things about them and your favorite things about being with them. tell them you miss them

watch a movie or tv show you think they'd like ★ sometimes i make a night of it, i curl up with a snack and a drink and i pretend like we're on a little date. it makes watching that much more fun!

read out loud to them ★ i love to read out loud and pretend i'm reading to my f/o. i do voice changes and add inflections, just to make it interesting. and it helps me stay engaged in the story! try picking a book you think they might like!

make a playlist ★ pick songs you think they'd like or songs that remind you of them. or both! i have two playlists, one for songs that describe our relationship and one for songs that i know he'd listen to! if your f/o is from a previous time, you can even make a physical copy based on their era (cds, cassettes, etc)!

make a pinterest board ★ pictures of them, pictures that represent them & their aesthetic, pictures that remind you of your relationship!

put together an outfit that reminds you of them ★ use their canon style for inspiration to try something new or use your own style but incorporate something that looks like something of theirs (a shirt, an accessory, etc)!

go to the store and smell the perfumes / colognes / shampoos / candles, try to find one that you think they'd like ★ buy it if you have a little extra spending money and think of them every time you smell it!

get a build a bear and dress it up like them ★ for snuggling! if you order online, you can even customize sounds and put your f/o's voice in it!

go back to canon ★ sometimes it's really nice just to see them again

there are so many ways to feel close to them!!! anything you like and anything you do, you can bring 'em along. sometimes it's enough for me to curl up with a pillow at night and pretend that we're holding each other. i hope you find something that works for you!!! 🖤

But honestly, my heart goes out to him. In his half of the pov his pinning is so clear to see. I’m willing to bet money that Lyney would just happily accept the fact that he can interact with t!reader on some sort of positive level again, no matter if he is just a friend forever because she’s back! She’s real again, not just rose-tinted memories and this silent secret between the twins and Freminet. He is going through these extra and at times inconvenient steps just to keep her safe, even going against his own desires (letting Childe keep an eye on her while he goes to father) and even against his own loyalties to an extent ( i mean, the sensible loyal fauti thing to do would be to immediately report that the previously awol/MIA solider was found, wouldn’t it? )

It fits so well!! I looked up some rabbit information just to see and rabbits are so skittish! I checked it out and so many things can set them off- bad experiences, new lotion smell, smelling like a different animal like a cat!! Like they not recommended to be children pets cause you gotta be gentle. But they’re so active! Not to mention herbivores!! Lyney may not know the truth but I’m sure he knows where his gift was delivered too! Thawed reader is a rabbit confirmed.

Looking outside of lyney and t!reader’s interactions though, it’s always so interesting to see t!reader’s other interactions. The obvious joy she has when she realizes Lynette showed up, and Lynette’s instant care in asking if t!reader has anywhere safe to go to. The tense somewhat friendship forming between aether and her, where a slight misstep could mean destruction of her life but there’s enough going on for minor banter and to try and help recover from a hangover (the water, and my current guess is that is the reason why her drink is different at the end) and now the beginnings of co-conspirators between Childe and her; the former laughing and seems to be almost excited while the latter is even more tense and nervous because it’s about to get a whole lot more complicated

But now that childe is officially an active player in the story, it’s making me think about the current time line and how different it’s gonna go from the canon game. As of right now, the only confirmed event from the Fontaine archon/various other quests is Lyney and Lynette’s trial since Childe has yet to be accused of anything (so we can assume that the missing people case is still ongoing) and aether is specifically doing this to see if he can trust the twins (something you can argue about him realizing via/during Lyney’s story quest). Especially know with the knaves early arrival to push things along

I should stop myself at this point so imma just leave off with the fact Lyney is starting to feel something as wrong when faced with Childe at the party AND the fact that t!reader remembering a fair bit of what happened, but the key point being that’s it’s very blurry has me kicking and freaking out. Allow me, if you will, a moment to go absolutely rabid over your blog and everything that goes on here. I’ve always loved history but the USA hardly likes teaching anything that isn’t American History. I’ve forgotten how much I love WORLD history, specifically the rise and fall of empires.

if you really want to start on the ground floor for breaking into something, I'd recommend my personal favorite approach which is picking the figure that's most interesting to you, reading through plutarch's biography on them (free! online! in english!) and then putting their name through a jstor search and reading whatever sounds fun.

Omg hi anon!!! Yeah the main thing about Milgram is the music videos associated with the prisoners! There are also voice dramas tho that are heavily important and happen before the MV, so I would definitely watch those as well. Let me give you a bunch of links to get started with Milgram!

This one is the most important imo, but here is a link to a master playlist that contains all the MVs, voice dramas, and other important videos all in order that gets updated pretty frequently! So when you're starting out with Milgram, I would just follow along with this playlist so you don't miss anything important. Milgram is also an ongoing series, so there's still time to catch up and vote before the current trial ends and the series goes on hiatus for a few months!
