#i hope to cement myself as a gege hater

gege is not a good writer.

put the gun down.

while i thoroughly enjoyed the pacing and tone of season 1, season 2 and the manga onward is extremely all over the place. the culling game arc was almost…manic? but also somehow a drag. i frankly remember little of it because of how bored i was. i’ve stopped reading the manga and relied solely on spoilers, wiki and youtube updates.

in general, characters were introduced as quickly as they were removed. he’s killed so many characters that i’ve become indifferent about the fate of the remaining ones. yuji died and came back to life more times than i care to remember that when he eventually dies for the final time (it’s gonna happen bc let’s be real. this is gege), im just gonna shrug and move on with my life.

high stakes in content media shouldn’t be dangling a beloved character’s death in front of the reader and then fulfilling it because it’ll become repetitive and predictable. that’s simply not good writing.

sure, maybe there’s something i’m missing and a deeper meaning that others have picked up on. but whatever point he was trying to make in the beginning of the manga fizzled out so fast after shibuya arc.

at this point anything that comes out of his mouth is a suggestion. his response to any gojo question is “probably.” the creator has not the slightest clue about his creation so i take everything he says with a grain of salt. im ripping the characters out of his cold hands and making them my own.
