Whew! Where to start. I feel I probably need to play catch up for Ruby/Christina's dynamic on Lovecraft Country because that's probably the one fewer people who follow me are familiar with so... This is Ruby and Christina:

Ruby is a rock/blues singer in the 1950's Chicago, and like our man Louis, she has done most of the work holding up her family. Also, like Louis, a lot of the challenges she faces are deeply racist, and because of her gender full of misogynoir as well, more than today because of the past setting of the story... Her shade and body type also come into play when compared to what her sister, who is lighter-skinned and thin could get away with in life. Christina is the daughter of the leader of a centuries-old white male-dominated magical cult, in which she is clearly the most talented in wielding magic but she has no say-so and cannot inherit the same privileges because of sexism, something that is *always* intersected with racism which that cult has deeply ingrained traditions in. Despite it all, these two fall in love. The biggest similarities I see in Christina and Lestat are...

both... are not just white but white-white blonde hair blue-eyes.

have a measure of self-loathing because of some trauma devolved from whiteness (Lestat stalked and tortured and piled into a bunch corpsed reflections of himself) and (Christina always considered a "protected" possession beneath white men and not an equal because of her gender)

are powerful supernatural beings, a wizard (I just feel that's the more likely adjective over witch for her) and a vampire

are narcissists

woo and manipulate, seduce, their partners into being with them, by lending their own privilege to give them protection or higher status, via whiteness

both are desperate to connect with their Black partner in ways that are impossible because of innate privilege deferential w/in the times they live and their own psychological shortcomings - Lestat opening the relationship and Christina going through the pain of a "lynching" to try to understand Ruby's day-to-day fear

are ultimately toxic to their partner and all other healthier relationships they have - Ruby's family especially Leti and Louis' family, most importantly Claudia

genuinely love their partner but just don't have the capacity or ability due to past traumas, narcissism, and that huge gulf in empathy for their very different lives.

The biggest similarities between Louis and Ruby are.. that they are broken by racism and the responsibilities of existing and maintaining for others while they are invisible in their plight. Both are uniquely beautifully human, vulnerable beyond what any other people in their lives "see" and that makes them both entrancing and vulnerable to the Lestat and Christina.

These are both queer interracial dynamics that take a really empathic and honest eye to render well, especially in this day and age. Both of these cultural spaces are riddled with discomfort, judgment, and fear, which mostly lead to dishonest depictions; and self-censoring, but they have subverted that for the most part.

Both I would say have been exceptionally well done and if really looked at critically beyond the chemistry and romance, I do think some interesting wider sociological conclusions/implications could be gathered from them. I think that's in part because of the freedom of the genre space. When it's supernatural or fantastical in some way, often the heavier issues are rendered more honestly. I'd absolutely love to read a dissertation really breaking it down.

how do you get your lighting so consistent :o????

I hope my response isn't smartass-y, I apologize if it is,

But I don't think I do much with lighting in my drawings, it's usually pretty diffuse. I don't do strong directional lighting that's caused by having one clear light source, instead I kind of just shade in the wrinkles in clothing and try to give the people/objects/shapes some definition. I might just be modest when I say this, but the way I shade isn't all that realistic, probably due to the fact that the characters are always in a big white space that is my sketchbook (like squidward ALOOONE or something :'D)

However, I will say that automatically + subconsciously I imagine a light source in the upper left of all my drawings. So I wind up drawing a lot of shadows on the undersides of things, and on the right sides of things. That's not always consistent though; I mostly just draw shadows and place highlights wherever I feel like putting them.

It's alright, I have answered similar questions before but I'll answer it again. Basically, it's because it is the only way I can make the timeline make sense. We know Hiruzen, Danzo, Homura and Utatane to be 18 years older than Tsunade, so it would be safe to assume Tsunade's parent (who I will call Child A) was either about same age as them or older when she was born. We also know that Onoki, the third Tsuchikage, was six years older than Hiruzen &Co. We also know that a young Onoki, who looks to be between 15-20 years old at the time, interacted with Madara when he was still affiliated with Konoha. So if we say that Onoki was 16 when he had his interaction with Madara, it would mean Hiruzen&Co were 10 at that time. And if Tsunade's parent, Child A, was the same age or older than Hiruzen&Co, then they could not have been born after Madara left. We also know that Izuna died at the age of 24, and if we assume that Tobirama was the same age as him, and Madara the same age as Hashirama, and they were let's say three years older than their respective younger brothers, then they were 27 years old when Izuna died. Now, this is speculation, but judging by their appearances when they are reanimated, I don't pin Hashirama or Tobirama to have been older than their mid 40s when they died. If Child A was born at any point after Izuna's death it would mean Hashirama or Tobirama died at some point in their early 50s. I also don't think it would be a stretch to assume Hashirama could have had kids early on. Not only is it canon that the overall life expectancy was only 30yrs so having kids early was most likely the norm, as oldest son, clan head and just being Senju fu**ing Hashirama, I doubt he would have been discouraged to wait with having kids.

Also, in motogp the most common used leathers are Dainese and Alpinestars, but Taka and Aleix are the only ones using Ixon. But does Ixon offer that the others might not?

Okay I don't actually know if the contract was ended. I heard it from a guy who heard it from another guy. But allegedly the contract was voided after aldeguer fitted for dainese, but he was already trying to get out of the contract before at least next season and I guessed the stars aligned for him. To me it seems a little weird it's that easy to void a contract but idk I don't have more information than that sorry

And I just named dainese and alpinestars because they are the two big names. Ixon are quietly also strong in MotoGP with four riders (Binder, Espargaro, Oliveira and Nakagami). Ixon have been in the game for a while and they also sponsor teams for merchandising (I think rn they sponsor Aprilia, pramac and tech3). But I don't know the specifics of what they offer, every contract is different but those four seem quite loyal so I think they offer them a lot for being with them so long

And the two "wildcard" riders are Augusto Fernandez with Revit, and Johan Zarco with Furygan. Two very reputable brands but they probably stick with sponsoring one rider each, keeps them up there with the big boys but is cheaper for them with one rider each.

There nothing wrong about being with a different brand, and I definitely am not saying the other brands aren't safe for MotoGP, but it just happens most people go with either alpinestars or dainese. And the end of the day tho it's a combination of what the rider feels comfortable in (i.e, if they have been with one brand for a long time they will trust their product and won't want to change) but also what contracts they are offered, not every rider will get an offer from the top two. And like RST make some of the best leathers in the world but I don't think they sponsor a single rider in all three gp championships.

sorry if this is a bad question but im curious- can two (or more) alters be in a relationship and date/have sex and would their relationship affect their dynamic with the rest of the system?

I'm not sure what you mean so I'm gonna answer a couple ways:

multiple alters can (and do) date within the system and it can sometimes fuck with the dynamics but is still fine. for example Seb is dating Ben, Dean is married to Cas, etc. doesn't really do much to our ability to function it just means they're always near each other. and also we can (and do) date outside the system and yes it of course does affect some dynamics and fronting patterns but that's kinda just what happens

do all systems work this way? not necessarily. but for us, yes. we have a partner system and some of our guys date theirs. it's cool and works for us :)

Honestly, I sat with myself for a little bit as I was trying to put myself into an evil, creepy mindset to achieve the atmosphere and try to gain some type of element of suspense. Honestly, the way I kind of do it (if I can even speak that way as if I were some type of expert) is to kind of think of sensations. What would be going on around me? What feelings would evoke them? Basically, I just kind of try to put myself in that space mentally and physically.

With that being said, it was super fun to write, and I thought it came out really well. It was kind of fun thinking of what exactly would happen and how Dahlia and Ulfric would react to that.

Happy WBW! What's the in story lore behind the main setting? Why did people build a city/town/village/etc there in the first place? Why do people continue to live there? Are tourists common and if yes, what brings them there?

I think I've talked about Rubi in Halara a little before, but I feel like talking about it again. Talil officially founded it after winning independence from Eng, partly because having a previously unknown capital would be a fresh start, and partly because they had so many soldiers at that point whose lives had been in the war camp that they needed to start over with building a new home the way they wanted it. In Halaran, Rubi is actually a word for something that is simultaneously beautiful and unpleasant. And Rubi the town (and later city) is beautiful: on the edge of a large lake and below white sandstone cliffs, their buildings are built largely of rich dark wood the yellow stone mined nearby (as the entire castle is made of). But the lake also makes everything smell largely of fish, basically all the time.

It is a good place to live, lots of fishing in the lake, hunting and gathering in the woods, and near more farm-friendly land. There's enough room to spread out. It's a day's journey from the Engian and Nitan borders, which means they're close enough to take trips but far enough away to have warning of any intruders. (The Aledik border is 3 days in the other direction).

I'm not sure how much of a thing tourists are in this world in general, but Rubi is definitely the most cosmopolitan place in Halara. People immigrated there during different times for the chance to start up their own business or live on their own land with minimal costs, so the city is fairly multicultural by a few hundred years in. During times of peace, merchants travel freely across borders. That's how they get silk and wine from Eng, jewels from Nita, and once their population is larger much of their grain from Aled. Halara is known for their excellent quality of wool, linen, paper, ink, and stones. Artists and scribes also travel around for their work, even internationally.

If you were a pokemon gym leader, what type would you use?

Honestly, a difficult ask. My all-time favorite pokemon is Axew, so I use Haxorus a lot. I really like Dragon type because all you have to worry about is Ice and faster dragons. (Oh, and now Fairy)

My number two pokemon is Heracross and I do often gravitate to Fighting types. Usually easier to come across and there's lots of fun ones in there like my boy Scraggy. And MaCHAMP.

My spiritual pokemon is the Snorlax. Big, sleepy, always in the way. I relate to Snorlax more than any other. And now we've got the most perfect gym leader Larry, running the Normal gym in SV. And I love him. He is me if pokemon were real.

What are your favorite hanfu that you would most like to see in kaname?

The colors are very Senju and I really like the silhouette. It also helps the the models hair and skintone is somewhat closer to Kaname’s.

I generally like to draw inspiration from this type of hanfu for Uzumaki fashion, so I have occasionally imagined this being something Kana could wear in a possible AU where she’s raised in Uzushio.

hey there! i've been seeing a lot of tmnt on your blog and i wanna ask something. i really wanna start the rise series and i was wondering, is it all shenanigans and fun or will there also be the depth and seriousness and thoughtfulness i see on tumblr? (i mean bc sometimes with kid's media, it's the fandom that constructs the deep parts from what canon only implies and never fully acknowledges) so like, is it actually deep or is it a case of the fans going "it's not that deep but i'm imagining that it is"? either way is fun, i just wanna know what to expect. i'm super excited to start btw!

Hm, good question. I'd say 50/50 depending on what subject you're talking about.

If it's about the family dynamics, then it's very much canon the closeness of the brothers and them with April, and how they care for each other. With Splinter it develops more over the seasons, but it's also there. Tumblr may notch it up a little, or give them more serious topics to talk about than what happens in the show, but it's based of a solid base.

If it's the 'Leo being the front man with jokes to hide pain' part, eh, more headcanon? He makes a remark once about hiding behind jokes during the series (the episode portal jacked, I believe), and since the movie people have taken that and ran with it given the topics that covered (they may have before as well but I wasn't active in the rise fandom then so I couldn't say)

In fact, most of the mental health stuff is more along the fandom route, as the show is typically more lighthearted. Though I think part of that is because Rise suddenly had it's second series cut and the writers had to rush the final four episodes, so there wasn't much time for the emotional scenes they probably would've wanted put in, therefore fandom 'fills the gaps'. (Rise had a 'Network Keeps Screwing Us Over' problem.)

That being said, there's still lots of more emotional moments and depth in the show! Especially in that series 2 finale and the movie (seriously, the movie is so good! If it doesn't get nominated for best animated picture I'm gonna cry!)

Also, as a side note if you're watching for the first time: The episodes got aired out of order (see; the Network keeps screwing us over problem), so it's good to look up the actual order to watch in!

Also also, the first number of episodes are generally considered the weaker of the show, so stick with it and give it a chance!
