SC: Sorcerers' voicemails before their death
Characters: Gojo, Nanami, Nobara
Hi there! Writing this made me sad lmao, also the 200 followers event special is coming up so keep your eye open for that! I'm rather proud of the theming and how it works. Extra also, I was going to write for Mei Mei but then I realized she'd probably be talking about how much she'd love you AND THEN about money. (I love her sm)
Gojo Satoru
Gojo coughs out as he backs to a cold wall, blood trickling from his mouth going down his chin. He reaches into his pockets for his phone, clicking frantically, and then, he pauses. He smiles down at your name. A part of him curses himself for doing this to you, realizing how much pain and suffering this will bring to you.
But he was a selfish man, a selfish man who wanted closure right before his death.
The phone rang once, then twice, then a few times, he snickers.
"Hi, there! I'm not on the phone right now so please leave a message and I'll get back to you as soon as possible!"
Even in his death, he couldn't get the closure he wanted, so he did the next best thing.
"Hey love, guess what's happening right now? I bet you can't guess it huh? I bet right now you're listening to this with a weird confused face, ahaha, I wish I could see it right now." Gojo paused, thinking how to approach the subject.
"Something happened today, I found out something!!! Something REALLY exciting!!! Turns out! Turns out! I'm not the strongest!!! Isn't that funny? When I get back I know you're going to tease me, don't be too mean though!" he smiled.
"So, all jokes aside, promise me something okay? Promise me, someday, you'll be the strongest. Then I won't have to worry about you so much. Maybe you'll kill this annoying curse who made me this beat up. I'm sorry." his voice cracked at the end.
"I love you, remember that, I love you so much, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I LOVE YOU!!!!" he yelled out at the end, voice cracking all the way through.
As sobs racked through his body, he tried to keep a smile on his face. He thought to himself that just maybe if he dies smiling, he'll die with no regrets.
"I'm sorry,"
Nanami Kento
Nanami groans as he struggles to stop the bleeding on his abdomen. He stubbornly tries to wrap the wound the best he can using his shirt, now stained with blood. He knows better than to keep trying, he knows what's about to happen.
So, he stops.
He let himself fall to the ground and stopped putting pressure on the gaping hole in his abdomen. He tried to think about other things than his obvious death and in that string of thought, he reached you.
Nanami couldn't risk you being near your phone and actually answering your phone, instead, he decided to send you a voice message. Hopefully, you'll hear it before the news of his death comes.
"I knew one day things would go like this," he sighed, "Being a Jujutsu Sorcerer is truly shit."
"I won't try and beat around the bush, I'm dying, when you're getting this message I'll probably be lying on the cold concrete floor dead. I'm sorry for putting you in so much pain just because I wasn't strong enough." Nanami closed his eyes and tried his best to focus, despite the growing headache from his blood loss.
"I hope you can find peace as soon as possible after my death, most of my money would probably go to you, not that you'd care I bet. Sometimes I wonder if it was best for me to leave the Jujutsu world, maybe stayed as a businessman. But if I did that, I wouldn't have ever found you. To be honest, you made the days much easier. When I had to do overtime, seeing you smile was enough for all the tiredness to leave me."
Nanami soon realized he was slowly losing strength on his arm, no doubt a sign of his upcoming death.
"I apologize for leaving you so abruptly, and I apologize for not wanting to call you. I didn't want to hear you cry and," he couldn't finish his sentence as blood rose up his throat causing him to choke.
After wiping down his blood and trying his best to keep his consciousness Nanami spoke again. His voice much more hushed this time.
"I'm sorry for that, love, listen, I love you. I would go through hell and back for you and I hate that I'm going first. I love you with all my heart and I hope after everything's done, you'll forgive me for not coming home."
Kugisaki Nobara (this was completely a self-indulgent fic cause I love this woman with all my heart)
Nobara scoffed loudly, stubbornly trying to stay standing, though her legs were aching and covered with blood and scratches everywhere. She stumbled slowly to the side, away from all the curses she just exorcised. The same curses who gave her all the injuries that littered her body.
It seems as if, there were one too many injuries. Or maybe the injuries were too deep?
She didn't know at this point. Nobara struggled to keep herself balanced and yet she still had the energy to yell out a few curse words towards the world. Annoyed she was placed into this situation.
Despite her stubbornness, she wasn't dumb. Nobara knew the cave she landed herself in, now had a collapsed entrance, which only means it'll take more time for help to arrive. Time, she didn't have. She quickly reached into her pocket and called the first person she could think about.
"Babe?! Are you okay?! Listen to me, help is on its way! Gojo sensei is coming there, please, please hold on. It's going to be-"
"No, you listen to me," she interjected your words, "I might not have a lot of time left, that curse really put a toll on me. It's gone now, but I don't think I'll make it out alive."
"Don't say that," you whispered, only to be shushed once again by Nobara.
"Listen, I don't want our last conversation to be an argument on whether or not I'm going to die or not. You think I want to die?! Just in case I do die, let me say my final words ok?"
Nobara could hear you sigh loudly, "Ok." She smiled.
"You're annoying, you know that?" She laughed loudly only to wince in pain, "Sorry, ignore that, I can't believe I'm dying here. I can't believe I'm dying BEFORE everyone else! It weirdly makes me feel weak."
Nobara could hear you want to speak out but immediately shut yourself up.
"But that doesn't matter now, I wish I could spend more time with you idiots. Maybe go to the beach in winter, buy matching outfits with you. We might even get scouted for a modeling gig because we both look that good."
Slowly, her legs gave out. Nobara slid down the cave's walls to the ground. Losing feeling from both her legs.
"I don't think I have that much time left, so, thank you, for everything. Thank you for taking me to that one restaurant with the cute pancakes, thank you for helping me spar, and thank you for dealing with me honestly. I love you so much. So much more than I've ever told you and I wished I said it much more often than I did, but I love you."
Nobara heard you muffle a sob, and just like that tears began to stream out of her own eyes.
"To make up for the times I didn't say I love you, I'll just say it right now. I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you so damn much that it hurts hearing you cry right now. Maybe if next lives exist, we'll meet each other again, and maybe then I'll be able to say I love you more." Her voice was barely above a whisper.
Nobara didn't have the energy to do anything at that point. She placed her hand down on the cold rocky floor and closed her eyes to the sound of you screaming I love you's from her phone.
She only had one regret, she wasn't able to hug you as you cried.

Horror Night
Warnings: language, gore.
Pairings: Daryl x reader x Negan.
My heart felt heavy on my chest. I choked in every breath I took. I watched, what used to be Abraham, crushed in the floor. Everything was ringing. The tears blinding my vision.
Negan talked but I didn't pay attention, I couldn't. He was in front of Rosita, trying to get her to see the bloody bat of the man she loved. In a second, Daryl took a swing at Negan.
"Daryl! No!" I screamed and ran towards him, my hands extended in an attempt to grab him. Before I could reach him, some of Negan's men were already holding me down as well as Daryl.
"No!" Negan yelled pointing his bat at Daryl. "That- oh," he chuckled. "That is a no no. The whole thing, not one bit of that shit flies here." He now kneeled in front of me. His rough hand was pulling on my chin to look up at him. "Brave little thing here, eh?"
I pulled my face away from his grasp. He stood back up. A blonde man held Daryl's crossbow at his face.
"You want me to kill him? Right here?"
"No!" I screamed. Trashing my body in the men's grip, I kicked around.
"Hey! Hey, what part of staying quiet do you not get?" Negan turned to me with his bat.
"Please, please, don't kill him. I'm begging you." I sobbed and I felt like I couldn't breath. My breath was stuck in my throat. I felt like I was having a panic attack. When I started shaking more violently I knew I was. My limbs felt as if they weren't there. I felt heavy but at the same time lite.
I heard Negan say something and then Daryl was thrown back in line. He approached me and kneeled back down. I tried to push the men away but they just gripped tighter. "I c-an't brea-th." I stuttered.
"What did you say again, darlin'"
"I-I can't br-eath." He signalled his men and I was dropped. My palms were on the ground as I tried to calm down. My chest heaved violently as I gasped for air. I felt like I was drowning.
"Holy fucking shit, she is having an attack." He joked.
New tears reamed down my face and fell to the dirt. This could be it. I looked at Daryl. He was looking at me, I saw a tear flow down his cheek. He tried to walked towards me but he was pushed down.
I closed my eyes and tried to calm my breathing. Deep breaths. I could feel the oxygen make its way to my lungs. I heard Daryl's voice telling me to calm down like he had done countless of time, but in difference, he wasn't holding me this time.
After what felt like hours I opened my eyes and felt like I could breathe again.
"Still with us, doll?" Negan asked jokingly. "Both of you are so impulsive, not surprised you two are fucking." He took my face in his hand forcefully.
I glared up at him and he chuckled. "Get her back in line." Like that I was thrown in my back and dragged to where I had been kneeling before.
"Anyway... that's not how it works. Now, I already told you people, first one's free. Then what did I say, I said I would shut that shit down." He had a maniac smile on his face. "No exceptions. Now I don't know what kind of lying assholes you've been dealing with, but I'm a man of my word. First impressions are important." Short silence. "I need you to know me. So, back to it."
In a second Negan's bat connected with Glenn's head. I blinked a few times. Not being able to believe this was really happening. We had just lost two of the strongest men of our group in a couple of minutes. I looked at Maggie and saw her sobbing.
I looked back at Glenn. You could see his skull and one of his eyes was bulging out of its socket.
My heart was beating out of my chest and I could hear every beat thumping.
"Buddy, you still there?" Negan asked mockingly. He muttered something and then exclaimed. "You are trying to speak! But you just took a hell of a hit. I just popped your skull so hard your eyeball just popped out. This is as gross as shit."
"Maggie I-I'll find yo-u." Glenn finally was able to mutter out.
"Oh, hell." Negan spoke. His voice was calm and serious. Like he actually felt sorry. "I can see this is hard, amiga. I am sorry. I truly am. But, I did say..." a smile now played in his lips. "No exceptions." He swinged at Glenn again. I jumped back in place.
No, no, no.
"You bunch of pussies... I'm just getting started. Lucille is thirsty." He kept hitting and hitting. There was nothing left to hit yet he kept swinging his bat. After he got tired he stepped away and joked. "She is a vampire bat."
The only sound was Negan's boot and our cries.
"What? Was the joke that bad?"
Rick looked up from his spot with a trembling yet determined look in his eyes. "I'm gonna kill you."
"What? I didn't quite catch that. You're gonna have to speak up." Negan mocked.
"Not today... not tomorrow... but I'm gonna kill you."
"Jesus," Negan scoffed. "Simon, what did he have? Knife?"
"He had a hatchet."
"Hatchet?" He smiled.
"An axe."
Negan laughed. "Simon, is my right hand man. Having one of those is important. I mean, what do you have left without 'em. A whole pile of work. You have one? Maybe one of these fine people still breathing. Oh, or did I-" he made a clock sound with his tongue.
Rick remained silent. Negan sighed. "Sure, yeah. Give me his axe."
Who I believed was Simon, stepped up with axe in hand and gave it to Negan. He stood up and grabbed Rick by the shoulder. "We'll be right back, maybe Rick will be with me. If not, well we can just turn these people's inside out. I mean, the ones that are left."
With that he shut the trailer's door closed and drove away.
I looked at Daryl. He was shaking. His gunshot wound could get infected with all the trauma his body was going through right now. I went to stand up but was held in place.
"I'm not gonna do anything. You have all of our weapons, what could I do?" I tried to reason with the men.
"You stay on your knees, bitch. Unless you want to end up like your friends over there." He signalled to the bodies that laid on the floor. With a thud I sat back in the ground, pulling my legs to my chest.
--
Hours had passed and the sun had come up when the trailer came back. No one came out for a couple of minutes. The air was full of tension as we hoped to see Rick still alive. When the door finally opened, Rick was pushed to the ground and Negan came out, he dragged Rick back to us.
"Here we are. Let me ask you something, Rick. You even know what that little trip was about?"
Rick remained silence.
"Speak when you're spoken to."
"Okay... okay."
"That trip was about the way you looked at me. I wanted to change that. I wanted you to understand. But you're still looking at me the same damn way... like I shit in your scrambled eggs, and that's not gonna work." He paced around and then kneeled next to Rick. "So... do I give you another chance?"
"Yeah. Yes. Yes."
Patting Rick's shoulder he stood up. "Okay." He chuckled. "All right. And here it is- the grand prize game. What you do now will decide whether your crap day becomes everyone's last crap day or just another crap day. Get some guns to the back of their heads.”
Guns cocked from behind us.
"Good. Now... level with their noses, so if you have to fire..." he imitates an explosion. "It'll be a real mess."
Silence.
"Kid." He said looking at Carl. "Right here." He pointed to the ground beside Rick. Carl was frozen in place. "Kid... now." Carl took slow steps. Negan took of his belt. "You a southpaw?"
"Am I a what?"
"You a lefty?"
"No."
"Good." He smiled as he took Carl's arm and tied the belt around it, cutting the circulation. "That hurt?"
"No."
"Should. It's supposed to." He finished tying the belt. "All right. Get down on the ground, kid, next to daddy. Spread them wings." He took Carl's hat off.
Carl did as told. "Simon, you got a pen?"
"Yeah." He threw it at Negan. He took of the cap with his teeth and kneeled next to Carl.
"Sorry, kid. This is gonna be as cold as a warlock's ballsack, just like he was hanging his ballsack above you and dragging it across the forearm." We all watched in horror as Negan drew a line in Carl's arm. "There you go. Gives you a little leverage."
"Please. Please. Please don't. Please don't." Rick begged.
"Me?" Negan chuckled. "I ain't doing shit." He stood up. "Ah. Rick, I want you to take your axe... cut of your son's left arm off, right on that line. Now I know- I know. You're gonna have to process that for a second. That makes sense. Still, though, I'm gonna need you to do it, or all these people are gonna die. Then Carl dies, then the people back home die... and then you, eventually. I'm gonna keep you breathing for a few years, just so you can stew on it."
"You- you don't have to do this. We understand. We understand." Michonne spoke.
"You understand. Yeah. I'm not sure Rick does." He advertido his attention back to Rick. "I'm gonna need a clean cut right there on that line. Now, I know this is a screwed up thing to ask, but it's gonna have to be like a salami slice- nothing messy, clean, forty five degrees- give us something to fold over. We got a great doctor. The kid'll be fine. Probably. Rick this needs to happen now- chop, chop- or I will crush the little fella's skull myself."
"Please, we all understand. Rick understands. We all work for you, stop this. You don't need to prove a point because you already did." I tried. This was my family. I wasn't gonna stay quiet and not try anything. My arms pointed at the fallen bodies.
I felt a gun press against the back of my head.
"It can- it can- it can be me." Rick stuttered out. "It can be me. Y-you can do it to me. I c- I can go with- with you."
"No. This is the only way. Rick... pick up the axe." Rick didn't move. "Not making a decision is a big decision." Negan's voice raised. "You really want to see all these people die? You will. You will see every ugly thing." He still didn't move. "Oh, my god." He groaned. "Are you gonna make me count? Okay, Rick. You win. I am counting."
"Three!"
"Please." Rick cried out. "Please. It can be me. Please!"
"Two!" He kneeled next to Rick.
"Please, don't do-" Rick sobbed and I looked away.
"This is it."
Rick screamed. I shut my eyes closed. Tears running down my cheeks.
"One!"
"Dad... just do it. Just do it." I heard Carl whisper.
I looked back at the scene.
Rick held the axe high, preparing to cut his son's arm.
"Rick." Negan stopped him. "You answer to me. You provide for me. You belong to me. Right?" Rick nodded hastily. "Speak when you're spoken to!" Negan's voice beamed making everyone jump. "You answer to me. You provide for me."
"Provide for you." Rick answered shakily.
"You belong to me, right?!"
"Right." Rick breathed heavy.
"Right. That... is the look I wanted to see." He stood up and took the axe. "We did it... all of us, together... even the dead ones on the ground. Hell, they get the spirit award, for sure." He sighed. "Today was a productive damn day! Now, I hope, for all your sake... that you get it now... that you understand how this work. Things have changed. Whatever you had going for you... that is over now." He chuckled.
There was a moment of silence before he spoke again. "Ah, Dwight... load him up." He signalled to Daryl who struggled in, who I suppose was Dwight's, arms.
"What are you gonna do to him?" I asked. Trying to sound as strong as I could. Negan turned to me.
"How could I forget about you?" He took long yet calming strides towards me. "You, darlin', are coming with me too."
"Why?" I sounded more panicked than I wanted to.
"Because..." he smiled. "You've got a mouth on you and I really, really like it. Keeps me on my feet. I have a proposal for you..." he waited for my name.
"Lucia."
He smiled and licked his lips. "You hear that, Lucille? They sound similar... okay, Lucia. I have this proposal for you. You come with me, be one of my wives, and I, won't kill another one of your group, for your blabbing mouth. How does that sound, hm?"
Shock was written all over my face. "It's your choice, Lucia. Either you come with me or... I kill another one of your friends. So, what will it be?" He passed his finger along my jawline. I looked at the truck where Daryl was in.
Maybe, if I went with him I could find a way to help Daryl escape. I looked around the group. I wasn't gonna let anyone else die, much less because of my fault.
"Okay." I said. Turning off all my emotions.
"Great." He smiled. "You and I are gonna have a lot of fun together." He licked his lips while scanning my body. "Fan-fucking-tastic. Simon, put her in my truck. I still have some words to say to our new pal Rick."
As Simon grabbed my arm and led me to a truck I looked back and saw Rick watching me. I gave him a slight nod with my head, telling him I had a plan.
I wrote this a some time ago but hadn’t posted it here. Requests are open ❤️

⟶ 3133 words!
edit: hi so it's been a couple years and I've realised how genuinely arophobic this kind of au is and I just want to say that while I'm not deleting it (it was a request) I'm not supporting it and will not write anything like a hanahaki au again. Please do some research if you're confused and I apologize to those who mightve felt hurt reading this oneshot.
"I don't understand why you haven't just told him?"
"Well it's not like me telling him will make anything stop. And there's the potential that I'll lose him completely if I tell him. It's not that simple."
"It can be! You tell Mingi you love him and then he can accept that love you back and you stop coughing up fucking flower petals."
"San!" She whined, lifting her head from its resting place on the toilet seat. "I can't force him to love me back! Besides he already has a girlfriend. I'll get over it sooner or later."
"Is later is when you die choking up a whole bunch of flowers?"
"I'm not going to die!"
"You threw up a whole flower just three minutes ago! You're getting worse! I know you." San paused, gently petting her head. "I know how much you let yourself fall into your feelings. You're sensitive, Jiyeon, you always have been. It's not going away."
"I'll make it go away." She whispered, biting her lip and avoiding his gaze. San simply huffed, pulling you into his chest and just held her for a while, rubbing circles into her back.
Choi Jiyeon was many different things to Choi San but the main fact was that she was his cousin. His only cousin. His father was her father's brother and the two only children became as close as siblings due to the fact they shared the same house.
Jiyeon and San were the same age, born a month apart because their mothers planned it. They grew up in a big house with a big garden. They had loving, caring parents and an extremely fortunate wealth and upbringing.
They went to a public school, making plenty of their own friends but somehow they always managed to converge groups to make one big friend group. And, in that friend group just happened to be Song Mingi.
Now, Jiyeon would have to admit, Mingi was, in fact, San's friend first. However, soon after meeting Jiyeon and Mingi were quick to become best friends. Jiyeon would be lying if she didn't say that, besides San, Mingi knew her best. Mingi was the first to tell her everything, the first to include her in events and jokes. He told her everything and in turn, she'd tell him everything too.
Well, except for one small thing.
Choi Jiyeon was completely in love with Song Mingi. And he didn't love her back.
Jiyeon never used to believe in the Hanahaki Disease until the petals started making their way down her throat. She thought it was a myth grandmother would tell to wain children off of loving recklessly. Her own grandmother would tell Jiyeon stories of the girls she used to know. Of how the would give their heart to anyone who'd take it and in return were given flowers. Only when she was a little older did her grandmother tell her that the gifted flowers were actually a curse in the body. Flowers that would come from nowhere and choke one out until one found themselves throwing the petals up. Jiyeon had never taken her grandmother seriously.
Maybe she should have.
She hadn't even noticed she had begun to love Mingi when the first petal arrived. She had been asleep when it did and woke up to a petal laying on her tongue. Having gone to a house party the night before, getting quite drunk by the amount of pain her head was in, she took no notice. She had, unfortunately, woken up with worse things in her mouth before.
The first time she actually threw up a petal, she and San were having their annual weekend movie marathon. In the middle of the fourth film — Star Wars: A New Hope — Jiyeon suddenly hunched over, grabbing both her throat and her tummy. After what felt like hours to her, which in reality was only five minutes of San freaking out behind her, she finally coughed up the petals that had bloomed in her tummy. Both Choi's sat in silence when she had finished, simply staring at the white petals that were stained red. Jiyeon only realised they were stained red with blood after San had handed her a napkin to wipe her mouth and it too came away red.
"What was that?" San asked, both of them now slumped on the floor on their knees, the television in the background now being nothing more than white noise.
"I don't really know."
"How can you not know?"
"Well, it's never happened before!"
After a beat of silence, San spoke up once again, his voice only hairs above a whisper. "It's like that old story grandma used to tell us, don't you think?"
"The story about the women who would die throwing up flowers when the person they loved never loved them back?"
"Yeah."
"That was an old wives tale San! A myth! A story to teach children to be mindful of who they give their heart to."
"Well, how else do you explain what just happened to you?"
His question had her stumped. How could she explain what just happened? The feeling of something unnatural climbing up her oesophagus, catching in her throat and choking her until she coughed it out covered in blood was not something that could be explained away or turned a blind eye too. There was blood. Bloody flower petals. That came from inside of her. And it hurt. It hurt so much.
"But that tale was about someone who loved another who couldn't love them back. I'm not in love with anyone, San." She avoided his gaze. "It's probably something I ate that didn't agree with me. That's all." She dismissed.
San sighed and she heard it. He sighed because Jiyeon had never been about to lie to him — or to anyone for that matter.
"Ji..." San trailed off. "You can tell me."
"I don't know what you want me to say."
"Is it one of our friends?"
"Is what one of our friends?" Jiyeon feigned ignorance, still not looking up to match her cousin's gaze.
"The person you love," San whispered, manoeuvring from kneeling to sitting, shifting slightly closer to the girl.
"Who says I love anyone?" Jiyeon whispered, finally turning her head to face San.
"Because I think we both already know who you love." San smiled sadly, gently bringing the girl into his arms. He rocked them back and forth gently, trying to create an atmosphere in which Jiyeon felt safe enough to speak her truths.
She rested her head against her cousin's collar. "Are you mad at me?"
San shook his head, even though she couldn't see him. "No. Why would I be?"
"Because..." She looked up, "Mingi's your best friend."
San chuckled. "You can't even lie to yourself. Mingi's your best friend. Sure, he's my good friend but you know things about him he'd never think to tell me." His smile widened a little, lifting a hand to ruffle her hair.
Jiyeon sighed, closing her eyes. "Okay. Maybe I'm in love with Mingi."
"Maybe?"
"I don't know!"
"Jiyeon."
"It's not like it matters anyway. He won't love me back that's why I'm throwing up petals or something." Jiyeon's eyes flew back open.
"Grandma always said didn't... not wouldn't or couldn't." San reminded her gently. "There's still a chance. You just have to tell him."
Jiyeon sighed, her head thumping back into his chest. "Fine." She breathed out, her throat finally numbing. "I'll tell him next time I see him."
The conversation the two had the next time Jiyeon saw Mingi however, was not the conversation she had in mind. He had grabbed her in the middle of the hallway, minutes before the bell for the first period, his handsome face graced with the bright grin only Mingi could create. It sent a flutter of butterflies through her tummy. Before she could get a word in he had already told her his news. The smile on her face had frozen, to the point where she began to panic he's see through the fake happiness she exuded.
"Haneul said yes! She said she'd be my girlfriend!"
Panic froze Jiyeon to her spot. How could she forget about Haneul? The pretty girl Mingi had the biggest crush on. He had spent hours telling Jiyeon all about her. How kind she was. How pretty she was. The way her voice sounded when she spoke to him — "like bells... or the sound of a thousand angels humming!" — and about the way she spoke to him. He told her about how Haneul was smart, how she helped him with all the things he struggled with academically — as if the study sessions he spent with Jiyeon did nothing for him.
Jiyeon had always felt funny when he would talk about Haneul. She hadn't realised the feeling was jealousy until she stopped telling herself she didn't love him.
Haneul was perfect for him; just the right height, just the right build, just the right personality. How could Jiyeon ever be seen as more than just his best friend when someone like Haneul was interested in him?
"That's great! I'm proud of you!" The words flew out of her mouth before she could stop them. The way his grin beamed brighter tore a rip through her heart and something built up in the pit of her stomach. The bell rang a second later and the two made their separate ways for their first lessons.
Jiyeon couldn't concentrate that entire day. Not many people seemed to notice her out-of-it daze apart from San, who looked at her with silent worry as their group sat together at lunch. Haneul has joined them, sitting close to Mingi's right side, answering the questions their friends had for her with a sweet smile.
Why was there nothing wrong with her?
Jiyeon couldn't blame her though. It wasn't Haneul's fault Jiyeon had fallen in love with her best friend. It wasn't Haneul's fault Jiyeon's body had decided it would take out its heartbreak on her, breaking her down piece by piece until her insides crumbled into torn up petals.
That had been sixth months ago.
Sixth months strong were Haneul and Mingi.
Jiyeon thought that it would get better. That the ache in her chest would dissipate now that Mingi was in fact taken by one of the sweetest people Jiyeon had ever met.
“Why don’t you, you know, date someone? Get your feelings under your own control.” San has said one day during a particularly harsh day, your entire bathroom floor covered in blue petals and sickly red blood after a couple hours of coughing and spluttering. You had given him an exhausted glare.
“It wouldn’t be fair to the other person. How would I explain this? ‘Oh, sorry about the mess! My body is just displaying its heartache outwardly because I love someone, who’s not you, by the way, that doesn’t love me back.’ Yeah, that’d go down a treat.”
San rolled his eyes at her, letting go of the hair he had held out of her face. “I’m just saying. It might be a way to get over it. To get over him. To get your health back?” He pressed gently. It didn’t take much to know that San was worried. Jiyeon had lost a noticeable amount of weight, not being able to keep much of anything down — especially after being around Mingi. She had become quiet, one might say reserved, which was unlike the person she was a couple of years ago who was never without a smile or a laugh.
She felt defeated. I don’t want anyone else to feel like this. It hurts, so much,” She swallowed. “Every time I throw up those flowers it feels like my heart is being smashed with a steel hammer. Or as if it was made out of paper and each petal was just another rip in the fragility of a water soaked piece of paper. It’s dark. It’s a disgusting feeling and I never want anyone to feel it, ever.”
San’s head cocked to the side, his eyes dropping with worry. “You’re dying, Ji,” He whispered. He took one of her hands in his. “Just try it. Please.” He begged.
Jiyeon bit her lip. It would be too arrogant to assume someone would fall in love with her so easily, wouldn’t it? She could let herself be involved with someone else, couldn’t she? She could get over the dark could that surround her heart, right? She nodded, “Alright.”
So San sent her on a date. Ironically enough, another of their friends, Jeong Yunho, had been interested in Jiyeon for a little while. When San has brought up his little conundrum — “I need someone to set Jiyeon up with but every one I can come up with are all dicks” — Yunho has jumped (literally) at the opportunity.
The date was fun. It was exciting. They had met at a restaurant, exchanging shy smiles and small hellos before ditching the restaurant — it was only San who made the reservation anyway — and spent the night just together, deciding on what to do by playing small games of rock-paper-scissors. Jiyeon found herself smiling, laughing for the first time in a long time. She had temporarily forgotten all about Mingi and the pain that would wrack her body almost every other night. They went to an arcade, playing on different games for a few hours, playing around with one another and cumulating enough tickets to get two matching teddy bears. They took a walk through a park, stopping to play on the playground apparatus and unlocking their inner children with small games like who could get the highest on the swings or who could stay upright the longest on the merry-go-round. They found themselves sitting in a booth at McDonald’s, grinning and sharing embarrassing stories about themselves and their friends — mainly San — while sharing two big boxes of chicken nuggets.
Jiyeon felt guilty when she got home, saying goodnight to Yunho and finding herself texting Mingi all about it. She felt guilty when she realised why she was so adamant for Mingi to know. She wanted him to feel jealous. And she felt horrible when he simply congratulated her and offered to go on double dates in the future, her bedroom floor covered in a smattering of red petals after she broke down in tears.
Yunho was kind. His smile was sweet and his words were sweeter. They went on multiple dates and Jiyeon could feel herself getting lighter. The petal attacks slowed down but, they still happened.
Yunho was kind but Jiyeon was scared. On their last date, he walked her home, their hands laced together as they walked under the stars in the night sky. Jiyeon had told him early on in their relationship that she was sorry they had to go slow. She hadn’t given him a solid reason for her need to go slow and he hadn’t pushed her for an answer, but she knew deep down she’d always be scared to take the next step with him, or anyone for that matter. At her door — one that was unlocked because San just knew she’d forget her keys — Yunho had taken her face in his hands and kissed her. Truth be told, she had enjoyed it. His lips were soft and he bent down enough to brush her lips before straightening up slightly, causing Jiyeon to follow him to a height her tippy toes would allow. However, when she opened her eyes the face of her unrequited lover stared back at her and her smile dropped.
Blinking away the image of Mingi’s face she was greeted with the worried eyes of Yunho. “I’m sorry if that was too fast.” He whispered, eyes dropping to the floor. A familiar feeling twanged across her body as her heart sunk, once again, in guilt.
“You have to go.” Her voice was low. She could feel the familiar sensation arise in the back of her throat and she, under no circumstances, never wanted Yunho — happy, kind, sweet, loving Yunho — too see her like that.
He stuttered and she felt worse. “I- I'm sorry. Just give me another date. I don’t want to stop seeing you.” He cupped her face again, tilting her head up so their gazes could meet.
She needed him to leave.
“You have to go.” She repeated, gently stepping out of his hold. She went to speak again but her words were caught in her throat as she coughed harshly. When she pulled her hand away from her lips, looking between Yunho and the bloody white petal in her hand, tears had already sprung to her eyes. She didn’t give him any explanation before turning on her heel, barrelling through the door to find the nearest bathroom.
She could hear him chasing after her, the sinking feeling of guilt consuming her for how much he cared for someone who was caught up with a boy who couldn’t love her back. She retched into the bowl of the toilet, multicoloured petals falling from her lips in encased in the sickening sound of blood being spat from her mouth.
Yunho was kind. He bent down next to her and held her hair from her face. He rubbed circles into her back, his soft voice falling into a quiet song. When Jiyeon had finished her attack her body wracked itself in sobs instead. She felt horrible inside and out.
“I’m so sorry.” She wailed.
He didn’t respond, stopping his soft singing.
“It hurts so much!” She sobbed, not lifting her head to face him. “I am truly sorry.”
After a while, her sobs lessened and the two sat in silence.
“You don’t have to be sorry.” Yunho finally replied, tilting her head to face him again. “I’m sorry you have to go through this,” He whispered. He raised a thumb and wiped at the side of her mouth, watching as the blood there transferred from her lips to his thumb. “I’m sorry you think you’re going through it alone.”
She looked at him, concentrating. Then, her insides froze again. Her tear ducts overflowed again once she realised just what he was talking about. Her one wish had been destroyed. Someone else was feeling what it felt like to be broken. And it was her fault.
She feared she wouldn’t be able to love anyone other than Mingi. She feared that Yunho loving her would kill him inside as loving Mingi did to her.
But in the end, Choi Jiyeon loved Song Mingi, even though they were young, even though he was taken, even though he was just her best friend.
She’d die loving Song Mingi, and in the end, she did.

Heart Broken
Peter Parker X Reader
Summary: You and Peter have been drifting and you can't handle the secrets anymore.
------
"Seriously, MJ, what should I do?"
"Sorry, did you say something?" MJ asked reading her book, walking beside you.
"Did you seriously not hear a word I just said?" You asked exasperated.
"Yup,"
"Ugh, fine I'm gonna tell you again and please listen this time?"
"Yeah, yeah, drama queen, take it from the top."
"Okay, I'm at a loss, I care about Peter so much, we've been together for a year now but he's always so secretive about everything, he's always leaving unexpectedly, and he's always covered in bruises. I don't know what to do, he won't tell me anything and I'm afraid he might be doing something he shouldn't be doing."
"Confront him about it." MJ said with her head still buried in her book.
"I tried, but whenever I ask where he's been or why he cancels a date he always comes up with some half-assed excuse." You said with a pout as you saw your apartment building come into view.
MJ looked up, "I mean actually confront him, don't just ask where he's been. Ask him why he always shows up with bruises and why he's so secretive."
"But what if he doesn't tell me?"
"Break up with him then."
"W-what? I can't do that!"
MJ shrugged, "You wanted my advice, and you got it. Do with it what you will."
You sighed, "Well thanks, I-I'll think about it, I guess."
"Good, this is you, see you tomorrow."
"Yeah, bye." You waved to MJ while you entered the apartment building. Your feet felt like weights as you entered your apartment. You greeted your parents, walked into your bedroom, and collapsed on your bed. You were supposed to hang out with Peter later that Friday night for a movie marathon. It would be the first time you hung out in weeks. Of course you wanted to be with him more but for some reason he kept canceling and it was really starting to worry you. Your first thought was that he was cheating on you but you quickly waved that idea away when you kept on seeing him with new bruises constantly and besides Peter was too sweet to cheat.
"Break up with him then"
You'd be lying if you said you hadn't thought about doing it before. You reached over for your pillow and covered your head as you felt tears start to build up. You cared about Peter so much, but you were at your breaking point.
It hurt to see him with bruises and cuts all the time, but it hurt more knowing he was keeping it a secret from you.
Honestly, you weren't sure how much more of this you could take.
You'd have to talk to him tonight.
You felt a tear roll down your face, thinking that you may actually have to break up with him if he continued to keep secrets from you.
Your eyes felt heavy and you drifted off to sleep.
~
You were awoken from your nap by the alarm on your phone ringing. You groaned and shut it off. Glancing at the clock it read 6:00, meaning you had a half hour to get ready for Peter's.
You grabbed your backpack and stuffed some snacks and movies in it before changing into more comfortable clothes. You said good bye to your parents and left the apartment, making your way to Peter's.
'Okay, just calm down, you'll be okay. Peter will see how serious the situation is and he'll tell you everything. There's no way he'll let this stand in between our relationship, right?'
Right?
Before you knew it Peter's apartment came into view and you let out a shaky sigh, mentally preparing yourself for what was about to happen. You walked into the building and stood in front of his apartment door and lightly knocked on it. You were greeted with a smiling Aunt May, in a dress in the middle of putting an earing in.
"Oh, hey honey. Come in."
You smiled, "Hey May, you going out?"
"Yeah, me and a couple of friends are going out. Peter isn't here right now. You know that boy, always busy. And I'm afraid I'm gonna have to leave now, I'm already running late. Hope you don't mind being here by yourself for a little bit."
"Don't worry about me, I'll be okay here on my own. Just have fun tonight."
May smiled, and put on her shoes "Of course, I'll see you later, okay?" May pulled you into a hug and quickly left.
You looked at the time.
6:45
Well that wasn't too bad, you turned on the TV and started to watch whatever was on, anxious for Peter to get back.
7:00
7:43
8:35
You kept glancing at the clock.
'Typical' you thought.
This wasn't exactly helping your mood. You sent him a text, but still after a half hour he didn't respond.
You groaned once it turned 9, and decided to just go home. Turning off the TV, you grabbed your bag and headed for the door when it was suddenly swung open to reveal an out of breath Peter. He closed the door and walked into the living room.
"I-I'm here! (F/N)!" He said in between breaths. He took a second to compose himself before taking a look at you. "U-uh a-are you leaving?"
"Two and a half hours Peter."
"I-I know, I'm really sorry, but I'm here now"
"Where were you."
"Y'know Stark internship" he said scratching the back of his neck.
You sighed, and looked down, "Peter, we need to talk."
"Is it because I'm late? I know you're upset, I'm really sorry I just forgot."
"Forgot?!" You yelled taking Peter by surprise. You let out a long steady breath, "Peter, this is the 12th time you bailed on me, we haven't done anything in weeks and every time I ask you about it, it's always the same answer. If it's really the Stark internship why are you always getting hurt?"
Peter was clearly at a loss for words, "I-I-I-"
"Peter, please tell me what's going on," you begged, desperation evident in your eyes.
It was silent for a while before Peter spoke up, "I-I- c-can't"
You sat on the couch and held a hurt look that pained Peter to see, "Why?"
"I... I just c-can't."
You looked at the floor and built up the strength to say, "Peter, if...if you don't tell me what's been going on with you...I-I...This..this relationship isn't gonna work" You bit your lip not finding it in you to look at Peter.
"W-what?" Peter whispered.
"You heard me."
"No, no, no, no, please don't." Peter begged, making his way over to you. He sat down in front of you and hugged your waist. "Please, don't leave me."
A choked sob escaped your lips and Peter hugged you tighter. You wrapped your arms around his neck and buried your face in his hair, breathing in his scent. Another sob wracked your body and tears started to roll down your face.
"Then...then what am I supposed to do Peter? Sit here and act like everything is okay when something is obviously going on."
"Just please trust me, nothing bad is happening. I'll make more time for you, just please don't leave me." He said as you felt tears start to dampen your shirt.
"That's not how relationships work Peter. Why can't you just tell me what's going on?"
"B-because I can't, I just can't."
"I'm serious, t-tell me what's g-going on or I'm b-breaking up with you."
"I want to, I-I wanna tell you so bad. But I already said I can't."
Tears rolled down your face harder, "S-so you'd rather break up with me than tell me what's going on?"
"No, no, no, please, Princess, I-I love you" He buried his face into your neck and began sobbing, "I love you so so much, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, please, please don't leave me"
You began sobbing along with him and held him tighter. Running your fingers through his hair. "I-I love you too, b-b-but I-I can't do this a-anymore."
You both sobbed while you held each other. Neither one of you ready to let go, knowing it'll be the last time you'd get to embrace. As time ticked on and both your cries began to die down, you prepared yourself for what was to come next.
"P-peter, you need to let go now."
"If I d-do your just gonna leave."
"I have to"
"No you don't"
"Peter, let go."
"No,"
You sighed for what felt like the millionth time that day, "It's getting late, I p-promised my parents I'd be home by ten" The clock read just after 10.
"I'm not ready to let you go."
"I-I know, but I want you to let me go. Please, just let me go home."
Peter heard the desperation in your voice and a new set of tears and sobs escaped him. He held tighter for a minute before finally finding the strength to let you go.
"Th-thank you." You stood up and Peter watched helplessly as you grabbed your stuff and made your way to the front door. You stopped and said from the doorway, "If you decide to tell me, I'll give this relationship a second chance. Bye, Peter." You left the apartment and shut the door as you heard Peter cry louder.
~~~
Aunt May said goodbye to her girlfriends and made her way to her apartment where she expected to see her nephew and his girlfriend curled up on the couch asleep together as a movie played in the background. But instead she was met with a very different sight. She entered the apartment which seemed very lifeless, the opposite of what it usually was. She also heard quiet sobs and sniffling which caused her alarm.
She walked towards her nephew's bedroom, which had the door cracked open a bit. She peaked her head in and felt her heart break at the sight of Peter curled up on his bed, in his pajamas, crying with his face buried in one of his girlfriend's sweaters. May gently knocked on the door, causing Peter to glance over at her before burying his head back in the sweater.
"Hey, Pete." She said gently, "Wanna talk about it?"
"She broke up with me." He sniffled.
May sat down on Peter's bed and rubbed his back in soothing circles, "Oh, honey. It'll be okay, do you want me to make you some tea?"
Peter nodded his head.
"Okay, I'll be right back and we can talk about it."
Peter nodded his head again as May stood up to go into the kitchen. He nuzzled his face into the sweater as he cried.
