#i hear that theory but why would a natural gas flare leave downed trees all facing the same parallel directions?...

It would be hard to argue that elaborate gardens with plants growing from elevated perches nestled among architectural creativity never ever existed... if you allow a loose interpretation of the hanging gardens I would see them as something that's probably occurred more than once in history, likely in the areas depicted, but the sandblaster of time leaves no trace of such details.
People like to rebuild nice old things that get lost, like the Suez Canal, which the ancient Egyptians built, though it traveled east-west through their capital city, it later fell into disrepair, leaving the French to have rebuilt it in the 1800s.
... and the only thing I can say about the Tunguska event is that consensus holds that it was an airbursted asteroid that finished vaporizing 3-6 miles above the surface, yet of course its energy was an insane explosion anyway. I am curious to hear the take on what exactly the mystery is there- while we ponder that, here is a GIF of a much smaller version of the same phenomenon that, dozens of years later, also hit Russia, except since this one hit a more populated area it injured over 1,200 people but I'm not seeing reports of any deaths. By contrast Tunguska claimed 2 or 3 lives but didn't injure many, please correct if wrong, but this is evidentiary of Tunguska being a far more powerful airburst in a less populated area

also some extra credit food for thought I didn't see in there:
another big question...
how much sunken treasure remains to be found in the world's oceans?
"'We put the question to marine archeologists, a historian, and a shipwreck hunter. Their answers ranged from "Who knows?" to "$60 billion"—and each was instructive.'"
First poll.
Second poll.
