Oh I do actually! Many of which that I was planning on making a comic on, but never really had the motivation to draw them ^^;

I will talk about them here as a post of all my HCs for them, however (that’s all for now, anyway)

Bobby Bearhug

-Has a collection of plush toys that she likes to cuddle with

-Has a hobby on photography. Loves taking photos of her friends smiling and having fun together

-Has a photo book created by Crafty as a gift. Keeps her collection of photos in there and would flip through it whenever she feels nostalgic or misses her friends

-Has a honey farm

-Because of this she’s also a pretty good gardener. Has a beautiful garden in her backyard

-Can’t cook for sh!t, but she’s good at brewing tea with her signature honey mixed into it

-Haven’t really decided on whether I want this, but despite being a bear she is vegan

-Touch is her love language, so whenever she wants to reassure her friends when they’re in distress she’d squeeze their hand slightly and be as close to them as possible

-Sometimes gets involved in things that she really shouldn’t be involved in

Dogday

-Dangerously selfless. Would die protecting his friends

-Has an ego on being “the leader” of the group, and is hesitant on giving that role to someone else due to his insecurity on him not having a specific specialty that makes him unique from the others (his friends loves him regardless, but he doesn’t know that until it was explicitly told to him)

-Later grew to have an interest on rock music

-Despite wearing a smile on his face, he hides his emotions deep deep down in order to not worry anyone

The Ghost Face/Danny Johnson

This man has many scars all over his body from his victims trying to defend themselves, but failed. Where he has scars the most is definitely his legs and chest where victims have landed sharp objects deep past his suit, into his skin. I guess his leather suit can’t protect him all the time. He has a giant scar running right through his left eyebrow. Him being the cocky bastard he is, he loves to show it off to his coworkers and make up an insane story for it. The crazy thing is that they actually believe him. 

His gaze can intimidate anyone. He has these stern yellow eyes that will make you shrink into your skin if he glares at you. However, when he gives someone puppy dog eyes, you can’t resist. There’s no way you can say no to those gorgeous yellow eyes. Additionally, I just wanted to say, his eyes make him look cat-like. 😂 

Danny has a very lean body. He has to be strong so he can overpower his victims. However, he isn’t bulky because he also has to be fast and carrying a ton of muscle will slow him down. He definitely works out a lot. I’d say he runs 7-8 miles and hits the gym at least two hours everyday because, let me tell you, he is definitely shredded. (I’m sorry. This headcanon is definitely the runner coming out of me.) 

Danny has short, but fluffy black hair. He makes sure to keep it silky soft so he can easily run his hands through it. Also, to wow the ladies; he knows women love a man with gorgeous, silky hair. Dingus. 

Dude, this man is literally so silent. He can judge which floorboards creak, which doors squeal when opened, what shadows keep him hidden from sight. It’s insane. Literally a god. 

I think we all have gotten a glimpse of how much of an asshole and narcissist he is. He’s extremely mischievous, confident, and thinks he’s the biggest lady-killer. Spoiler alert! He really isn’t no lady-killer: he can’t even get a lady for the life of him. His cheesy pick-up lines and flirting skills are full of crap. He better be glad he has his looks or he’d get himself slapped across the face. 

Danny is a fantastic photographer. He makes sure that any photo he takes is on point. He’s a perfectionist. If he takes a photo, no matter if it’s for work or snapping photos of victims, it has to be perfect or he scratches it out of his camera roll. 

He is a great writer as well. I don’t know why the Roseville Gazette would hire him if he wasn’t. 🤷‍♀️ Anyways, a fucking unit at punctuation. He uses semicolons way too much than he probably should, just like me, and he knows it too. Hey! If it looks good and sounds good then that is all that matters. He’s also a pretty fast typer and always proofreads his writing at least 4 times before turning it in for publishing. He tends to get all his work done before all his coworkers. 

He keeps a journal where he writes important information about his victims: where they live, their daily routines, and stuff like that. He also sketches out what each and every one of his victims looks like next to his notes. 

He’s pretty cold-hearted and has an obsession for fame and recognition. He wants everyone to know who he is and to fear him. He’s addicted to the fear frozen on his victims faces when he calls them and has dozens of pictures of his victims hidden in his nightstand drawer to use for his articles.

Even though he’s a phenomenal journalist, he doesn’t get paid that much so this man literally lives off of ramen. However, he loves himself a nice home cooked meal: anything that takes a long time to cook to be honest. He would cook if he wasn’t so bad at it. 

He loves himself a good bargain; he loves the power they hold over someone. The moment someone breaks their side of the deal, he can break his and they’re over and done with if you know what I mean. 👀

He loves drama. He’ll listen to all the tea and no one will know he’s listening in either. He’ll start spreading it around to all the other coworkers. Now everyone knows the business. That’s why you never whisper shit while Danny is around because he’ll get a hold of that gossip one way or another.

What is Husk's form in Hazbin Hotel?

We all know Husk is a chimera, as he's clearly he's part cat and part bird. But I would like to posit the question of what kind of cat and bird is he?

(LONG HEADCANON EXPLANATION AHEAD)

Husk is drawn like your average tuxedo cat, so I can understand seeing him as just a regular house cat in form, but...

We know that Vivziepop was toying with the idea of making him Russian at one point, right?

Well... What cat is from Russia?

The Palla's Cat, also known as the Manul.

HEAR ME OUT!!!

Manuls are small wild cats with long and dense light gray fur. It's appearance always looks "grumpy", they're solitary animals, and are aggressive. They're poor runners because of their compact bodies(their shorter bodies help to give them a low profile when stalking prey) and instead of fleeing from threats they seek refuge.

We know husk is quite fluffy(and dark gray), though lots of regular house cats are too, but most have more slick and thin fur. Husk was originally very grumpy in the show, but he's grown to enjoy the company of some people in the hotel. Still a grump to others though. He's solitary and aggressive. He's short compared to Alastor and Angel Dust, but I'm pretty sure he's taller than Charlie. He runs in a silly, yet slow-ish way(episode 3: Husk when Niffty talks about bad boys in that club, and when Vaggie is throwing people off the roof), often retreating from conflict he doesn't want to be involved in yet not running very fast.

My evidence is not solid in any way at all, but I will headcanon what I damn well please.

Next, what kind of bird is he?

Well, comparing his wings to other winged characters:

We can see Lute and Vaggie have different colored wings now, but originally they had the same markings, which I ADORE as a slight nod to how she's changed from who she was, and is still angelic, maybe even more so than before.

But we can also see the difference between Husk's and their wings, theirs seem more powerful. More strong. Their wings remind me of hawks. I can imagine them using them to fly swiftly and without mercy down onto unsuspecting victims. Their wings end in sharper points, too. Husk's, on the other hand, seem more curved at the ends(NO I WILL NOT BE ADDING THE PICTURES OF HUSK'S WINGS BEING SHARP TOO, DONT COME AT ME I'M TRYING TO EXPLAIN MY HEADCANONS POORLY AND WITH LITTLE SUPPORTING EVIDENCE IN PEACE.)

And Husk's eyebrows as well? You know what kind of bird has semi-curved tips to their wings and sharp eyebrows?

i am not part nor affiliated with the official BOGGIO team, personally being just a fan of the game / characters, and therefore nothing of which I say or do here should be taken as canon, this is simply a roleplay / parody account of one of their / PHIGHTING!'s characters. I can't possibly know every single detail about, well, anything and will very likely mess things up especially since I don't have a twitter and therefore can't exactly access any twitter posts made about phighting lore and such unless it's directly shared with me. Most of what's here is either taken by Soda's tumblr QnA, the Official Phighting Wiki ( the fandom.com one is outdated ) or my own personal Headcanons.

This is primarily just another silly little RP / Ask / Parody Blog for Medkit from the game PHIGHTING! on Roblox. I'm not exactly the best roleplayer however and might possibly get a tad out of character from time to time if I'm not careful, which I do apologize if that ends up happening.

It might also take me a while to answer and respond to stuff due to the fact that I tend to like to think for a good while before deciding to do so ( or i might just straight up forget / get distracted in which case you are welcome to direct my attention back to it ).

Although my art's not exactly the best I will likely try to respond with a simple doodle or drawing from time to time because well it's fun to do and I feel that it could make some things seem more interesting and such. :)

Most of the drawings and SS's here are simply my own but I will make sure to provide credits and such if I use someone else's stuff for my own purposes of course!!

Aslong as you aren't NSFW ( gore / graphic stuff is fine by me but will be tagged just incase anyone else isn't fine with it or is made uncomfortable by it ), Racist, Transphobic, Homophobic, A proshipper / comshipper, abelist, aphobic, zionist or otherwise just not really that good then I'm completely open to interactions most of the time! Due to his current circumstances Medkit probably isn't really looking for love or a romantic relationship in the first place, nor would he probably be able to completely trust anyone viable for that position to get close enough or those feelings at the moment. That doesn't exactly mean he CAN'T but it's very unlikely.

Probably tired most of the time and all the caffeine from the coffee probably isn't helping. And back pain. Can't forget the back pain. This dude literally sleeps on a desk i cant imagine how that back feels.

Medkit usually doesn't let anyone other than the people he trusts on his blindspot / left side while idle and able just so that he can keep an eye on what's going on, frequently preferring to have that side closer to walls and other obstructions otherwise. Also likely so that he knows that someone would be watching on that side while he can't.

This is the fic ever. This is the longfic ever. This is the Renjing fic ever. This is the everything to me ever. Every day I think of my favorite Renjing headcanons and plot bunnies and wishes and I realize they sprung from this fic. Holy fucking shit. If I wasn't writing so much I would dedicate all of my time to translating this masterpiece into English. The summary does not do it justice but basically Renjing go on a road trip and slowly fall in love while learning how to live and to be together without hurting each other and to be happy. It's complete at 200,000 words and I normally enjoy shorter fics but I would have read 1,000,000 words of this. I still will. Sweetie_tianyang, please.

Ok, then I agree completely xD. Yeah, I can absolutely see that then. Just Vinnie, having those moments when he's like "Look at my muscles/how tall I am!" and like, no, no buddy, not even close. It's not there all the time, and when it's there most of the time it's just a joke or unbased bragging, but I think he has some delusional moments when he genuinely believes he's taller/more muscular than he actually is (which is like none).

Yeah, in some other timeline I can see that too, it makes sense and all, I just don't like my favourite characters physically strong and/or muscular. Although, one headcanon I have regarding this, in a normal timline and universe and everything, is that, though not muscly, his legs are really strong and durable, resilience-wise. For example, him and Penny Ling are really fast runners because they just work on their legs so much it makes those limbs strong, so anything that mostly requires them to use their leg muscles (like jogging) goes really well for them.

And as for his body. Basically, he's as small as can be. Just a noodle. In many places, mostly on his ribs, you can see his bones. That, combined with his really pale complexion, makes him look like he's sick if you don't know any better. So generally, just a noodle. And it's all genes for him. Just like some people have tendency to get fat easier when not even eating that much, he has a tendency not to gain any weight, even when eating a lot. For now at least. Plus, he dances a lot, so in this context it's basically exercise which helps as well, helps keep him super skinny I mean. So even when his metabolism slows down he'd remain closely as he is. There's absolutely a universe where he has anorexia, but in the normal one it's all genes. I was thinking wether I'd rather have him have anorexia nervosa or bulimia nervosa, but I settled for anorexia, bulimia seems more like it would be Minka's thing, you know? But that's a whole other thing. However, in the normal universe, if anything, he's pissed, because he'd like not to be that skinny, he'd like to look more "manly". Not his main concern but it is something that he thinks about sometimes. Bonus, if I were to give him some sort of eating disorder in the normal universe, it would be eating things you're not supposed to - it's profesionally called Pica - and I'd give him eating stuff like wood, maybe glue, oh oh and blood, of course.

Originally the duelist s/o was for MKR Sun Wukong but it didn't feel right in my opinion. This however does. This particular Sun Wukong is much closer to what he is originally described in the original Journey To The West and his temperament before the journey, a fierce Demon Warlord.

Well, Yaoguai is the correct term to refer to them in JTTW/JTTW related media. Yaoguai being monster like entities or demoted gods. Also the usage of demons in Chinese Mythology is more set on pure evil in terms. I'll be updating my headcanons and fics with the correct terminology.

Anywho, let's get this started. This is a slow burn and can be read gender neutral or preferred gender. You don't need to know about Yu-Gi-Oh as I'll be filling in the gaps. Also this is going to be slightly different from my usual ones.

You can never understand how you end up in the strangest of places much less what had to be Ancient China.

One second you were driving your Duel Runner on a forest dirt path and the next you end up getting chased by monstrous wolves with said motorcycle. Normal wolves don't have spikes on their body nor multiple eyes.

Any normal person would drive away as fast as they can. You weren't exactly that kind of person cause one, these things were bloody fast and catching up. And two, you were a psychic duelist with the power to bring your Duel Monster cards to life.

Something you did as you summoned one of your favorite monsters to deal with the ugly mutts, Junk Warrior.

Now in Duel Monster game terms, you couldn't summon a monster like this without the correct setup. Your bike was designed to circumvent this rule involving your power with enough speed instead of the usual price being a nasty migraine.

Which is why you lost some speed so your blue armored warrior could keep the beasts from munching on your body as you focused on navigating through the trees.

Apparently you weren't the only one here, much less being attacked. Why? Cause upon using a fallen log as a makeshift ramp, you practically leapt into a camp swamped with these beasties.

The defenders being a man wearing traditional face paint makeup, a monk, a blue fish man... and... Sun Wukong. Holy shit. You were in the Journey To The West cause there was no mistaking that golden headband on the brunette with a rat nest for hair.

Oh and apparently you were about to crash into him because of your gawking moment. You quickly went for a u-turn as a stone monkey would definitely wreck your ride.

Thankfully the monkey noticed the incoming duel runner and jumped. Unthankfully, he hitched a ride on your shoulders.

Sun Wukong's form shifted to become more monkey like as he now had golden fur plus a monkey tail. Still kept the human face though.

Meant that too upon hitting the gas to go even faster. The extra speed was needed cause you were about to break the rule once again by summoning the red and white humanoid machine, Accel Synchron.

It was time to send these unnatural mutts to the infernal pound as you had enough with the insanity today. This time with style as your monsters dissolved into 10 stars within a row of green rings. Then you chant.

"Accel Synchron! Give Junk Warrior a tune up! As hope fades in the jaws of darkness, an otherworldly machine grants power to the fighter of discarded treasure! Let the stars bless this noble warrior with power beyond measure! Take to the skies and break the hopeless barrier! I Synchro Summon Stardust Warrior!"

Everything around the Monkey King and you froze in absolute shock as a draconic warrior in white dragon like armor emerged from the rings, Stardust Warrior.

Your monster had the power to eliminate all opponents in a meteor storm of stardust by sacrificing itself. 'Shimmering Stardust Buster Sanctuary' you called upon triggering the effect.

Tripitaka, Sha Wujing and must be Zhu Bajie quickly scattered as the meteors fell, rightfully pulverizing the monster hounds. Your monster dissipating into stardust with the job done.

The Monkey King definitely had the balance of his species cause even when you harshly skidded to a stop, he hadn't moved an inch. In fact, he was laughing. Uh oh.

"Quite a spectacular show with some intriguing word play! You're the most interesting mortal I ever met!" Oh no no no.

Before ya knew it, you were in the arms of Sun Wukong. The glamour now gone as a four foot monkey with glowing amber eyes looked gleefully at his master. Oh hell no.

"Can we *I* take them with us *me*?" Shit. You got the complete curiosity of the Monkey King. And from the way he phrased his words, this had to be him at the beginning of his journey.

Only your luck would land you in the hands of a Yaoguai Warlord at the start of his quest towards redemption. Might as well reside yourself to your fate.

You had enough of being chased for a day. Getting chased by the Great Sage Equal To Heaven isn't something that needs to be added to the list.

This is a Sun Wukong that will chase anyone that can peak his interest as much as the MKR iteration. Since there isn't a White Dragon Horse in this rendition of JTTW, you'll be filling the role with the Stardust deck! Basically a deck heavily associated with a particular dragon that'll be popping up soon. I wanted to try a more action feel for this one.

Synchro Summon requires a unique monster called a Tuner to gain access to the monsters that appeared in this headcanon, Synchro Monsters. Accel Synchron is a unique Synchro Monster since it also counts as a Tuner.

The Stephen Chow movies done an interesting take to the novel and its characters, despite the awkward pacing and plot of Demons Strike Back. I recommend checking it out. Conquer the Demons can be watched free on YouTube if they haven't taken it off yet.

Here's a free excuse to ramble about one weirdly specific Venom headcanon 👀

WELL since I have an opening.

I do want to talk a lot about what I *believe* Venom's beliefs are, especially regarding superstition and the supernatural because, IMO it it is one of the most differing things between him and Big Boss, the man he's supposed to be and believes himself to be. So I'll leave that for later as I do have something else in mind with that.

(It also gives me very intense brain worms).

Anyway!

Under a cut because oh god this got long I'm so sorry.

We know from the passport stuff Venom's older than Big Boss (born in California, in 1932). He would've been too young for the second world war, but like Snake he feasibly could've fought in Korea. Assuming he came from that kind of background. He ended up a combat medic somehow. Which I think is also key-he's a combat medic. A soldier. He can *we assume* think very fast, and adapt as needed. It's notable that Big Boss says he was the best soldier MSF had (next to him ofc), and I think him being on the Ground Zeroes mission proves that well enough. That rescue was top secret, not just black ops for the world, but presumably to most of the MSF. It's very telling he was included in that.

I imagine that medic was more gentle-minded to begin with. Not just for how he operates as Big Boss *he seems to lack the more..mischievous elements Big Boss has, and isn't nearly as snarky, bearing a couple moments*. I can't help but wonder what his bedside manner in general would've been. Because there's a big difference between being a doctor, and being a combat medic. Doing sudden, intense 'in the moment' work on a battlefield is not going to have the same environment as when you can slow down, take your time and focus. Venom would've had to be focusing in the moment, amidst gunfire, screaming, all kinds of different smells. To narrow his mind and work quickly, and effectively before the patient could be transferred (any intense surgery like amputation they try not to do right smack dab in the middle of the field, they can patch someone up before they can be moved, as it's going to risk infection if you just slice someone's body parts off right there, but that isn't always possible either).

TL' DR. He's a smart, pragmatic guy that can think fast, act fast and keep his head on straight.

I also think he was a good runner. This is based on a couple things (I'm not including how his bionic arm gives him more mobility when upgraded) but how even when he has the standard arm, he runs MUCH faster than Big Boss does.

He was probably just as quiet pre-Big Bossification as he is after the fact. I imagine he talked MORE but something about him seems more the listener type. He's got a more passive nature than Big Boss seemed to have, and lacks the..magnetism Big Boss possessed so readily. When Venom was himself, I imagine he probably had conversational moments, but was maybe content to listen and engage in other ways.

He was probably a fast learner too. Yes, Ocelot explains he gets all of Big Bosses missions and operational ability etc, but there is only so much powerful suggestion can do. Even all of MGS' standard impossibilities aside. And again: best soldier in the MSF.

He probably only spoke one language. Languages might not have been his stronger skill. I'd be very curious to know if he knew any Latin, since it was more common for trained medical professionals. Probably not for combat medics though. Hard to say.

If he DID come from military pre-MSF, I'd imagine he was army. I base this on how Venom can't swim. Big Boss can. Now, granted. That's probably because they didn't have time to include swimming mechanics into MGSV, but if Venom can't swim he probably wasn't Navy or Marine.

Kouji and Izumi are the fastest

Takuya absolutely hates that Izumi can run faster than he can, he's a football player for Bokomon's sake, he's supposed to be fast!

Tomoki is the slowest only because he's got short legs. Once he starts growing Kouichi is the slowest instead.

Kouji has the fastest reaction times, Kouichi has the slowest. The others find the difference hilarious.

While Kouichi is the slowest, Junpei is the one you're least likely to see run

Kouji is fast but he's really bad at long jump. Tomoki is great at jumping long distances though

Kouichi is weirdly enough the best at High Jump. No, he also doesn't know how he got so good at it (hint: his digimonform was a cat)

Izumi keeps thinking she should be good at high jump, but without her wings she really isn't.

Izumi is great at short distance running, but does less good at marathon running

Takuya and Kouji are both great marathon runners

Kouichi knows that slow and steady wins the race and does surprisingly well in long distance running. He won't get 1st place, but he probably places at least top 5!

Edward has one gift, and it’s telepathy. Being fast isn’t a gift.

Strength, speed and even senses is varied among vampires. Some, like Emmett, are on the extreme end, but that doesn’t make Emmett gifted, nor does it mean that the rest are at an equal level. The Cullens have clear variations between them.

Physique appears to play a dominant role in how these variations play out: Alice, who was malnourished and never made it past 4′10″, is the physically weakest of the coven, while Emmett at 6′5″ and a mountain of muscles is the strongest. This is made very clear during the baseball game:

“Emmett was hovering close to third (base), knowing that Alice didn’t have the muscle to outstrip Rosalie’s fielding." (Midnight Sun, chapter The Game)

There’s also the fact that it’s taken for granted that Emmett would be intimidating to other vampires, and he is dismayed when James is more worried about Jasper, who is lean.

I suspect this disparity exists simply because a large frame means more tissue to have blood in. Newborns, animal, and human-eating vampires all having a difference in terms of strength is proof that blood has the final say in a vampire’s prowess, so Emmett being able to contain more of it than Alice and therefore being stronger makes sense to me.

This isn’t the meta for me to get into that, but I don’t think vampires have muscles in the sense we do. Or rather, we can’t know that they do. Renesmée is proof that Edward retains his human DNA, or she would be a clone of Bella. Nahuel is proof that Joham retains a Y-chromosome. Does this mean that vampires have different cell types? Does a vampire’s stone-like skin still contain human DNA? One would think yes - except, if you rip a vampire apart, you get rubble. The parts are all solid. There’s also Carlisle theorizing that vampires digest blood by absorbing it through porous tissue, which makes me wonder why he dismissed his digestive system (my guess: vivisection fun times with Aro in Volterra. Carlisle couldn’t have done it on his own, and Aro is the only one mad and curious enough to be down for that). I’m getting off-topic - what I’m saying is, we don’t know how vampires work, meaning I can’t build this meta off of the assumption that they have muscles. I simply can’t know for sure that they do.

The important thing is that a vampire’s physique is a deciding factor in how strong they are.

There’s also Laurent’s warning about James, that he has “unparalleled senses”, meaning some vampires are better at sight, hearing, and smell than others. I can believe that, because we have canon examples of vampires being bad at tracking.

There’s Edward in Port Angeles, who couldn’t track Bella’s, his singer, scent to her location, and (I admit this one is conjecture but it’s so probable that I say it goes) Carlisle’s creator, who after taking care of the mob must have realized he’d bitten one of the humans, meaning a newborn would soon be loose in London. This is punishable by death by the Volturi. The fact that he didn’t return to finish Carlisle off means that he was unable to find him. I remind the audience that Carlisle was bleeding and suffering the effects by a venom intended to paralyze the victim. To put it this way, Carlisle wouldn’t have survived James, or anybody with a trace of tracking competence. By comparison, Carlisle was able to locate a dying Rosalie by the smell of her blood, even though there wouldn’t have been a trail for him to follow, as her body had not been moved.

When it comes to these disparities in strength and speed among the Volturi, I imagine Jane and Alec are the physically weakest members of the guard, and among the slowest. They’re prepubescent, meaning no muscle for them, and their height (a humble 4′8″ and 4′10″) implies very short legs. They’re simply not going to get as far as an adult would, not in the same number of steps. Renata at 5′0″ is another tiny vampire lady who likely isn’t very strong or fast.

That’s not to say I think these physically weaker members of the Volturi guard are necessarily useless in hand-to-hand combat, Alec at least is a boy stuck in a playful age, and the males around him are trained warriors. He’s probably picked up a few things over the years.

As for the others, Aro is described as frail-looking, which hints at him being quite thin. I don’t think he’s weak, if he couldn’t win a fight he wouldn’t be around, but I do think he’s probably below average in terms of strength. Caius I picture as a Harrison Ford type, so of course I’m gonna think he’s a bit burly, but this is me headcanoning and not actually hinted at in canon. Marcus is 19, so I imagine he can only be so strong.

Back to Edward’s speed.

He’s a 6′2″ teen, that’s code for “very long legs”, though I’m actually going to go ahead and posit that he’s not actually that fast. Strap in for this next part:

The guy was a teenager who lay dying for an undisclosed amount of time. The fact that Carlisle had the time to get to know his mother points to a few weeks, at least. And Edward was very ill:

Elizabeth worried obsessively over her son. She hurt her own chances of survival trying to nurse him from her sickbed. I expected that he would go first, he was so much worse off than she was. (New Moon, page 21)

Muscles atrophy quickly, never more so than when you’re a teen ravaged by fever, on your deathbed. And as I’ve explained above, I think your physique in life ties directly into your vampiric prowess.

I think Edward is certainly the physically weakest of the male Cullens, quite likely weaker than Rosalie as well, maybe even Esme.

Now, speed is not the same as strength. However, for humans, the two are connected. It’s the muscle fibers in our legs that determine our speed. Basically, type I fibers make an enduring runner, type II fibers make a speed runner. So, assuming that vampires retain their human musculature, one could argue that Edward had a lot of type II in life. However, Carlisle when he was human was able to outrun the mob he was with:

He ran through the streets, and Carlisle — he was twenty-three and very fast — was in the lead of the pursuit. (Twilight, page 158)

Carlisle clearly had a lot of type II fibers, and unlike Edward he was in peak physical condition when he died. He was also an adult who’d had more time to develop musculature, while Edward was a seventeen-year-old. If musculature was a deciding factor, one would think they would at the very least be of equal speed, though realistically Edward should be slower.

So, if it’s not muscles, what is it that makes Edward faster than the others?

It could be a matter of technique. Except, the way Bella describes movement when she wakes up as a vampire, it’s all very automated. Her body knows exactly how to do everything, and executes it without much input from her:

After that first frozen second of shock, my body responded to the unfamiliar touch in a way that shocked me even more.

Air hissed up my throat, spitting through my clenched teeth with a low, menacing sound like a swarm of bees. Before the sound was out, my muscles bunched and arched, twisting away from the unknown. I flipped off my back in a spin so fast it should have turned the room into an incomprehensible blur—but it did not. I saw every dust mote, every splinter in the wood-paneled walls, every loose thread in microscopic detail as my eyes whirled past them.

So by the time I found myself crouched against the wall defensively—about a sixteenth of a second later—I already understood what had startled me, and that I had overreacted. (Breaking Dawn, page 251-252)

Growling, crouching - those are all distinctly vampiric, non-human ways to act. Bella didn’t learn this, her body knew it of its own accord. When she later runs, she explains it as happening the same way - she just does it.

The way Bella experiences it, vampiric movement is like a package she downloaded, and that executes her instinctual commands with no need for her to actually know how to do any of this. Her grace is another example of this - Bella Swan may be in charge of her own consciousness, but the venom is entirely in control of her body.

Given these facts, I don’t think it’s technique that makes Edward a better runner than others. His technique is likely similar to everyone else’s. If it isn’t, if technique is what makes the difference, then who is and isn’t fast is an arbitrary process.

With that, we get to my controversial theory about why Edward is the fastest Cullen: he’s not.

Running and being fast is the only thing about vampirism that Edward enjoys. This is for another meta, but Edward is extremely depressed about every single other bit of it. Every aspect of being a vampire torments him.

Except the running. He enjoys all of it, especially being the fastest, so much. And as a newborn, he would have been faster than Carlisle.

But after that, when his newborn strength faded…

I honestly think that Carlisle decided to just slow down a bit when running with him, let Edward have this. It’s no skin of his back, and it makes Edward happy, so why not.

Esme joins the family, and of course she would be down for this. Nothing is more parental, more maternal, than losing at checkers to make your child happy, after all. Could also be she’s not very fast herself, but even if she were then she would downplay it to make Edward feel like Jesse Owens.

Enter Rosalie, who would think it’s completely ridiculous, yes, but she would also recognize this excellent opportunity to call in a big favor from Carlisle later on. There’s also the fact that I think Carlisle has a gift (yes, yes, meta is coming, people) that makes him very persuasive people. And also that for all that Rose gets a lot of bad rep, she is very generous and loves her family, if being fast makes Edward happy then alright.

Emmett is an easy-going guy, he goes along with things. Alice adores Edward and would go along with it. She also has tiny matchstick legs and couldn’t outrun him if she tried. Jasper could not care less.

Bella does get outrun by Edward after waking up, but she also did zero exercise in life (listing this in case musculature matter), had Renesmée devour her from within rendering her emaciated, and then died like a slasher movie murder victim. There’s not a lot of blood in her, and what little blood there is doesn’t have a lot to work with. She does defeat Emmett at arm wrestling, so I’ll concede that. However, there are enough extenuating circumstances surrounding Bella that I think my “Edward isn’t that fast” theory survives his ability to outrun her.

So, I believe Edward is the fast Cullen because Carlisle told a white lie in 1919, no one ever corrected that, and now it’s too late.

Favorite Fics

I’ve been tagged by sproutwings to list the five favorite fics I’ve written and why!

At first I was thinking: "I haven't been doing this that long, I don't even know if I have enough fics?" and then I realized oh my god my ao3 "birthday" is coming up this month! and two, I have 17 fics apparently? wow does time fly. Then came the actual object of picking, which was super difficult. Following sandrine, they are not all my best written, but these are my favorites. But honestly, like my favorite songs, these probably change by the day, so right now these are my favorites. They're also not in any order.

Shiva (The Flash, Barry/Leonard). Though it's probably hard to tell since updates are so slow, and if I'm being honest it's not the best thing I've written for the fandom, I love this fic so much. Don't know where the headcanon came from, but I love Jewish!Len and I'm enjoying using Shiva to explore Barry's grief and anguish in the wake of everything he's lost since the show glosses over it. I'll update it sometime soon, hopefully.

Conflicts of Interest (The Maze Runner, Gally/Thomas) This is a lawyers au that is so self indulgent it's writing itself. I had all of the major dialogue written in a single day. The only worry I have is sometimes I get too in the weeds with the technical stuff; despite that concern, it's just too much fun to stop writing.

distract me from my last disaster (The Flash, Barry/Leonard). Contrasting from Shiva, I do think this might be the best thing I've ever written for the Flash fandom. It was fun balancing the flirting with Barry's inner turmoil, and it was so fun to put Len in the "cracking Barry's shell" position rather than the other way around.

When I Say You Are Killing Me (The Maze Runner, Gally/Thomas). I knew this would be one of my favorite fics while I was writing it, which is a very rare feeling. What my brain wanted to write and what I actually wrote was, for once, pretty much the same. It's dark and the implications are terrifying, which is also partly why I love it (angst/whump brings me life, I admit that shamelessly). A hurting Gally and protective Thomas also delights me.

Scheherazade (The Flash, Barry/Leonard) This was my first purely *sexual* scene, which is an achievement in and of itself for me because I actually tend to be quite awkward about these things (curse my midwestern upbringing). It's a little weird in concept, but nonetheless I really like Barry and Leonard's dynamic here.

I'm also going to cheat and give an honorable mention because it was a VERY close second: these heavy hands aren't sure (Gally/Thomas (but could be read as Gen)). This story is simple, but I really enjoyed going into the friendships of the Gladers in Safe Haven. Drunken Minho and Frypan was also very fun to write.)
