As of... actually several episodes ago but more so on this episode, I'm starting to think there's something (a reason/correlation?) to the anime not going all out on the animation (youd think ep23 part 1 would have gotten more attention) or when its not doing a 100% panel-for-panel adaptation of the manga (ie cutting out gags and some other parts)

Its almost like the anime is slightly just a little maybe advertising the manga? but idk, you dont really get this feeling if youve never read the manga. It only torments those who have who know what's in the manga that the anime-only's are missing out on. and there's also the dungeon tidbits that dont/havent been adapted that expand more on the story.

lets be real tho, some things in the manga just would not translate as effectively into anime. (ie the manga covers that look raw as all hell)

tl;dr i have a feeling the anime is not doing the manga 100% perfect justice because animation restraints AND it wants you to read the manga as well.

I've actually been thinking about that too. But objectively I think the dungeon meshi anime is effective/overall good adaptation of the manga.

The feeling of "NOO IT'S MISSING X THING" as far as I can tell is only for people who have read the manga, everyone else doesn't seem to feel there's a lack of quality. I call it the cursed knowledge of the manga lol.

The fact is that the manga is just PACKED full of so many details an adaptation that has ALL of it is just impossible, and trigger's anime isn't necessarily bad just because it doesn't have it <- I say begrudgingly cause I wish it had all

From what I can tell they have been pacing themselves within their budget/time constraints and focusing on what the medium of animation can serve the best to compliment the manga, which is action scenes, they seem to be focusing most of their efforts into giving us BREATHTAKING animations during the action and honest I LOVE IT.

I recommend @swampjawn's animation breakdowns if you wanna really appreciate it in a more technical aspect, its so good.

But another thing I've been noticing is how much content Ryoko Kui does related to the anime? Like the merch, the blu-ray boxes the collabs. Is that something common at all? The manga author doing so much content related to the anime of their work?

Maybe it's an exception cause she finished publishing Dungeon Meshi before the anime came out but I hope that her gorgeous art inspires people to read it.

Anyway I'm not sure if trigger is on purpose doing "manga advertisement" but just where I believe they'll stop this season is probably gonna make a lot of people want to read so it's a win in my book.

oh, some extra info on IWYW. cant remember if ive already shared this, if i have im sorry, if i havent then here. taylor wrote that after a couple of months after her and harry broke up, and they decided to become friends again, and she said this was the first time she had become friends with an ex to the point where they were comfortable enough to talk about why the relationship didnt work out. and he said how, after they broke up, he bought a house literally one road adjacent to hers. and every day he would drive home, and accidentally turn into her street, and told her how he just wanted to stop at her house and see her, but he never did. and she said this song is about while he was in the car making the decision to get out the car and see her, she was sitting in her bedroom, wishing he would make the move and go back to her and just pitch up at her house. she compared it to a classic movie where both parties want the same thing but neither has the guts to say anything. and thats why the song has the lyrics of "driving straight ahead", opposed to taking the left turn to see her.

as far as i can tell the tumblr post i linked is the earliest surviving source for her saying this— someone saying a likely 1989 sessioner said it to them. i can’t find the the actual sessioner’s account (admittedly, i haven’t tried in a couple years, and ive gotten way better at searching old websites). so it might be a fabrication, but taylor can also can be a bit silly with her recounting of events so it might just be her telling a wee fib. but no matter what this is likely some level of a simplification

iwyw was likely written in late may 2013 (that’s coming from an aggravate of multiple sources that’s too hard to cite here, but it’s all that’s in the 1989 timeline in my pinned). at the time, taylor had two houses in LA (one appears to be a guest house, we only learned about it when she sold it in 2018), one in rhode island, and one in nashville. it is almost definitely referring to her LA house though, because harry never lived in the other two places.

HOWEVER harry didn’t buy a house in LA until march 2014, after taylor finished 1989 (non-taylor’s version). now, i’ve heard he was staying with a friend in LA in 2013 who lived close to her house, but i haven’t been able to independently verify it, and it was from a haylor account so i am wary of bias. there’s also no evidence of them talking until august 2013, three months after she probably wrote iwyw, but that’s easy enough to hide from the public.

tldr the sourcing is questionable and the story doesn’t match up with publicly available facts. there are alternative explanations with even more dubious sourcing. taylor lies for the sake of a better story a fair amount but also she is capable of hiding big things from the public. draw conclusions as you will but be aware that they are built on sand

basically like. for a bit of knowledge if youve never seen miguels posts is that like anjo da morte (meaning angel of death) tormented our island for a few months, from when i returned from kalos after the houndoom attack to when i left for paldea. anjo da morte is presumed to take the form of an old man with pure blue glowing eyes except for a white pupil who appeared on the island randomly with no records of anyone matching his description. this old man just kinda hung out around the island, barely interacted with anyone, mostly appeared at night, and like murkrow and mandibuzz LOVED him.

anjo da morte caused people and pokemon to suddenly get sick, mass death and rotting, like UNUSUALLY SO. like things that were fine one day would suddenly be COMPLETELY ROTTED AND WILTED THE NEXT DAY. with no apparant cause or anything!! fairy pokemon, which are normally super plentiful because hortensia has A TONNNN of the flabebe line!! especially considering my family's florges gardens!! like. vanished. they were super skitish and hiding all the time i saw very few that weren't ours and even then ours acted strangely the whole time. on the other hand there was a huge surge in dark type activity, especially honchkrow line and mandibuzz line but that might just be because theyre carrion birds and shit and there was a lot of weak pokemon running around as well as a good amount of free corpses so. like this shit was abnormal as hell. at one point a bunch of fish pokemon and two florges (vulgradian florges are water types and mostly aquatic. theyre like mermaids) washed up on shore and we cut them open to see if theyd eaten anything off and there was like nothing wrong with them they seemed completely healthy they just. died.

we're all pretty it was a ghost type infestation that followed me from kalos or something?? but like worship of yveltal is also very common in the lachrian faith due to kalosian pirates brigning yvelti worship over to vulgrado along with the florges so some people did see anjo da morte as like. some sort of like test from yveltal or something. either way no one really blamed me for anything they were kina just like oh damn that shit you went for was THIS BAD huh?

anyways. the time i met anjo da morte.

basically i was coming home from school (i was trying school out again after The Incident) with my moms aggron, damascus. damascus considered like our parish its territory so it viewed protecting the kids and taking us all to school and stuff as like. part of taking care of its territory. anyways we had dropped everyone else off including miguel so it was just me who needed to go home.

we're like at the gardens, so almost home, and theres this old man there. i dont really pay too much attention at first cause the gardens are popular tourist destinations and assume hes probably just checking them out even we havent gotten much tourism at the time because of like. anjo da morte. and the fact our florges arent taking care of them as much as they used to because they are NERVOUS. but like i keep moving through the gardens with damascus.

theres a lot of like pools and waterways in the gardens cause. aquatic florges and stuff and we're passing by one of the pools when the old man like. actually adresses me. like says my full name. i dont know this old man but he knows my full fucking name.

i start freaking out cause like. old man i dont know knows my name stranger fucking danger and i finally get a good look at him and realize he has the fucking eyes and this is anjo da morte and freak out even more cause like??? ANJO DA MORTE

so basically im standing there, damascus is trying to intimidate anjo da morte (its not working) anjo da morte is SAYING THINGS TO MEEEEEE (im not paying much attention), and IM FREAKING OUT CAUSE OH MY GOD I FUCKED UP IM GONNA DIE AAAAAAAA

anyways i then hear a sound from the pool beside me which snaps me out of it and i look over. its one of our florges, kelpsy, and shes like getting out of the water and is also like making it clear to anjo da morte theyve fucked up and trying to freak them out. kelpsy is like. a very chill florges most vulgradian florges are super agressive unless trained like heavily even as flabebe but kelpsy is so fucking chill and has the patience of a saint but like. as of late she'd been super skittish and shy because of the whole anjo da morte thing so it was kinda a surprise to see her getting her ass out of the water. this distracts anjo da morte too and in that brief moment damascus fucking attacks.

like slams their arm into anjo da morte and sends him FLYING.

like he doesnt fall like a person though he goes flying the way a toy might. absolutely ragdolls. it looked like there wasnt any real weight to the body.

then, before anjo da morte hit the ground, they just fucking VANISHED. GONE. kelpsy freaks out and gets back into the pool and hides under the water and damascus starts making a set of growls that aggron use to like. tell things trespassing on their territory that they know they're there and they better FUCK OFF before they find and kill them so i leave damascus to it and run through the gardens all the way to the house.

AND THATS THE TIME I MET THE ANGEL OF DEATH <3

The common thread i can spot is them being vaguely friends of Ranboo? Esp with /Do you wanna save Fundy" but like Ran and Funds havent spoken in months i think?

I'm sorry I can't help you in that regard hjfkjjdsbhgeh. Ranboo isn't involved directly in Las Nevadas and my knowledge is quite cursory; I've read Las Nevadas' documentation, seen Tubbo's recent streams, and have skimmed some Slime Lore

I do not watch Fundy lore and haven't gotten around to looking into Quackity, Purpled, or Foolish directly

This is the first I've heard of "the 3 innocents of LN" also? If I had to guess I suppose it might be something different abt their manipulation but like. Quackity exploited everyone lmao. More pessimistically I'd guess they just get infantilized; genuinely tho I do not know

Ranboo and Fundy did speak recently during the outpost streams; they hung out and had something that started as a toll booth/faction "dispute" and quickly devolved into them hanging out n having laughs. I assume it was halfcanon and I don't think they had any particular development but like neither of them would Confront Issues in this situation so lmao but fr what it's worth they did hang out

okay, lets lay out the shit we have already. as i said before, the way he talks presently to john (meaning in the future) is so different than how he speaks to everyone now. of course the “i hate the world” personality is still there, and hes still just regular karkat, but karkat talking with john is patient to some extent and tells him what he needs to know for the game, lowkey kinda chills out once they started talking about movies or growing up as huh, didnt he say larvae or smth?

okay that whole grub thing makes sense now as i just wrote that but i am still confused as to what the FUCK that is implying because i dont think it crossed my mind this much, im repressing it for now until it comes up later. 

anyways, back to what i was saying. he was so DIFFERENT than the way he’s acting now which is bitch and moan and like? stfu karkat lmfao. i mean, its not THAT big of a difference in character, because i know he’s still his grumpy old self, and theres a lot of potential.. for growth? not sure if we’ll get it but i like to assume we will get character growth from these characters with fucking 8000 pages talking about them. but a story needs that growth and with karkat being just a straight up angry dude, in MY EYES, he should.. have growth, no? idk HOW he will grow, but im basically just taking what i have right now which isnt much but i analyze things for fun sometimes so let me be.

that being said, because its so early on, im not sure where homestuck is gonna go and i dont have much to go on but being in the psychology course shit happens when you have limited information and you gotta pin point what makes a person a person and how do they cope with things to grow further into life. many of my assignments involve limited info so honestly, not that hard.

but it is something that ive noticed, the way karkat is different as he grows which possibly means the whole veil thing happens later later on in his life and we havent yet seen that small growth become patience and not whining every time he doesnt get what he wants. but growth is common and it mostly likely happens to everyone, so its not like wow this is a surprise and a plot twist, more of something that i just wanna write for the sake of writing it. i hope that makes sense? i dont exactly know where im going with this. i just mean that im basically going to analyse karkat a tiny bit so idk how to otherwise explain it but you’ll get where im going with this as i type more lmao. 

anyways, so karkat literally said “pretend i dont think highly of my friend’s talents” as if he’s visibly trying to force himself from all emotions and bash on those who do (reference: “stop being sensitive, its repugnant” or whatever tf he said while TA replied with “hypocrite”) i take that as a key word. so honestly, while that was the smallest thing ive gotten from this session, its the thing im most curious about actually and i actually havent mentioned lol. because what ive learned in psych, which this is just common knowledge but i did an assignment on it so like?? could be useful?? is that people who hold off their emotions tend to hold off others as well, so there is no chance of mirroring each other. in other words, if someone is happy and starts to laugh and goof around with another, the emotions will mirror that other person subconsciously. like an addictive laugh. theres also another way to show mirroring, which is to mimic another person's actions, allowing another to establish a sense of empathy and thus begin to understand another person's emotions. in this case, im using TA and karkat as example. people who suppress emotions tend to see emotions as a bad sign and if somebody else portrayed any sign of it as well, they’ll basically say “gross what are you doing” because theyre so used to concealing it away, that they dont want others to think theyre into the whole mushy shit. so they pretend to hate it, pretend to not even be slightly affected by general sensitivity..

which basically means karkat is a softie, and even if he’s a prick right now, meeee thinks john, from earlier convos, is growing on him because john himself knows how emotions work and while i dont think troll culture does know much about it, considering the BLOOD AND CARNAGE thing, he is in fact growing and even if thats obvious, and you all know it, i am new to homestuck and am trying to see that for myself. its noticeable to some degree. he may always still be a jerk, but i am waiting to see how he slowly starts to accept things around him and to finally show what hes hiding inside. even if its just going up by a few percentages, i see its there and im hoping VERY HOPING he has the biggest character growth!

in other words, why else do i think this?? well nobody who watches romcoms can be that fucking aggressive. you need some sap in you to like it.

on that note, ill probably analyze alternia’s system and rules in another post later throughout these next few sessions because i feel it needs to be talked about and the way everything just.. is so different and doesnt seem right, you know?

this is new

hi hi hi ok just dropping by with another update about life in general. had midterms last week, they were ok, i got an 89 for quant which was 1 mark away from an A but it couldve gone a lot worse so im ok with it as a whole i think. Havent gotten the labour paper back yet but i think thatll be fine too, it wasnt too hard. Been taking this week kind of slow, i think im just getting a bit lazy with school work (things are slightly less crazy cos theres no case study for econ anymore :)) yay) but will probably need to ramp up soon eeep. 

anyway the real update is re: my love life LOL.........been seeing Z quite regularly, at least once a week. i think i like him ... im still trying to figure out if the main reason i like him is cos he seems to like me so much (which feels rly nice btw) but i do think there are several other qualities that i like about him (although its hard for me to disentangle these qualities from the fact that he demonstrably likes me so idk if im seeing him in a particularly good light cos of these qualities or cos of these qualities + he is so nice to me cos he likes me. that was an incoherent ramble! classic)

anyway i think ill add to the pros / cons list cos it just seems to be an efficient way of sorting qualities / flaws:

pros:

- he is very sweet and thoughtful, surprised me with a late night coffee delivery the weekend before midterms 

- he has expressed several times that he likes me and cares for me which tbh makes my heart flutter LOLOL EW.... (why am i so grossed out yet simultaneously touched)

- he remembers little things about me and my life and what im doing

- he is generally fun to be around and easygoing 

- he is knowledgable about things that im not knowledgable about e.g. the world of data science and economics and research and rock climbing

- he is ok with admitting when hes not 100% right :) which is so important!!!!!!!!!!!! to me!!!!!!

- we went rock climbing and it was nice to see him doing smth he enjoyed and be in his element. also he seemed weirdly more physically attractive than before, maybe cos he looked strong LOL yucks

- not rly a pro but he just got a job (which is apparently v well remunerated) which means hes not gonna be a bum (this was a back of mind concern for me)

cons:

- he has less than stellar grammar which even as im saying it im aware is an unfair criticism (esp given that this post is riddled with grammatical sins e.g. 0 apostrophes...but ive alr explained that this is a different problem from bad english cos its on purpose and done in full awareness and in the context of a casual internet medium). anyway he used the word ‘practise’ / ‘advise’ as a noun and he has had a few grammatical slip ups in texts which im not 100% convinced were typos. im considering correcting the ‘ise’ mistakes cos they rly do bug me....anyway this is me being a nitpicky betch haha so lets move on

- he takes so long to reply texts...i mean never more than a day goes by without a text from him but still. again this isnt a fair criticism cos i do the same lol so i guess this isnt rly a con.

- he isnt rly that funny lol he has a weird sense of humour. he recounted some lame joke he did that was GOT related and i was like huh....thats not funny...but anyway. not everyone can be funny haha

- he doesnt seem to read the same kind of things as i do - he seems to be more interested in CEO autobiographies / biographies... which is fine actually, i guess diversity is good. just that we have less common ground. same applies for music taste haha

ok anyway i realised i never updated about the talk we had after brine a couple of weeks back (i think a mere week after my last post). he said he liked me and was serious about this relationship....and i said idk how i feel lolol. i was like ‘it’s only been a month!’ and he was like ‘it’s been 2 months including when we first started texting!’ which is true but...how do you know if you like someone after a mere 2 months of texting them........

anyway its been what, 3 ish months now? i think i probably have a better idea now and would be open to having a talk about where this is going if he initiates it sooooooon also btw he hasnt tried to hold my hand or anything yet. which i guess is out of respeck but also i wouldnt mind if he did. lol. i guess i think it would give me a better feel of whether theres a ~~~~spark~~~~ and if i instinctively recoil then it means there isnt...?? gah idk. will update again soon :)

it really depends on what im feeling at the moment and what i know about the other person’s music taste. i usually don’t like, casually recommend someone to listen to one of my favorite bands of all time or something unless they ask specifically about it or im confident that they’d like it because like idk i guess i find sharing stuff like that to be very vulnerable.

it was the 1975 at mohegan sun arena on november 5, 2016, which was the day after my fourteenth birthday. i cant remember much from it now but it was a ton of fun, god the light set up was phenomenal and my mother seemed to enjoy matt healy’s dancing a lot. 

25. what is your singing voice like? what singers do you remind yourself of?

oof i kinda hate my singing voice so uhh idk. i usually like making my voice as loud and commanding and bright as possible so i tend to sing a lot more in a chest voice when im alone. idk i think i sound very much like what your average 15 year old girl who happens to not be tone deaf would sound like. i guess make of that what u will because to compare myself to other singers would be doing a huge disservice to them. 

32. how do you feel about musicals?

oh i definitely used to be a musical person. i very much used to be that 13 year old who was into heathers the musical and hamilton and stuff like that. i guess ive grown out of being so invested in them, and i havent really properly listened to one in quite a while but im definitely not like against them or anything.

i dont watch movies too often and my memory’s the worst so all i can think of is the trainspotting soundtrack. the best songs off of that imo are sing by blur, temptation by new order, and 2:1 by elastica.

i mean ideally i’d like both of course, but i guess lately ive been kind of finding myself more invested in the sonic side of things. if a song that has a great hook has some mediocre lyrics, i’ll more often than not let it slide i guess. which doesnt mean i dont care at all about lyrics or dont appreciate them, it’s just as ive been consuming more and more music my overall enjoyment of a song has started to depend less and less on whether a song has the most quality lyrics or not.

2020 Oscars Predictions: This is How I Win

Miss me? I’m back once again to predict the Oscars and remind you that, yes, the Note feature still exists on facebook. Let’s get to it. This is going to be a disaster.

Animated Feature Will win: Klaus - I fully believe Oscars voters are lazy, and if there’s one movie they’ve seen this year and is safe for them to vote for, it’s Toy Story 4. But after Klaus swept the Annies, I feel that maybe the voters are also loathe to give it to a sequel. This is a tight one. Could win: As I said, Toy Story 4, as everyone but me seems to predict Should win: Al Pacino

Cinematography Will win:1917 Could win: It’s 1917. Should win: I’m okay with this one, actually.

Costume Design Will win: Little Women - The Academy do love old dresses. Could win: Wouldn’t be surprised if Jojo Rabbit took it because the Oscars are shit, but I think if anything will leap in it’ll be Joker. Should win: Little Women, but shout out to next year’s winner Birds of Prey, which wasn’t great but had some wonderful costume work. Kudos!

Documentary (Feature) Will win: Have to run with the buzz here and say American Factory. I ain’t seen any of this Could win: Honeyland has a dual nomination, so prepare for me to smack my head when that wins. For Sama may jump in Should win: Al Pacino

Documentary (Short Subject) Will win: idk. Learning to Skateboard in a Warzone (If You’re a Girl) Could win: ??? you think I watch these ??? Should win:  Al. Pacino.

Editing Will win: Ford V. Ferrari - Car go fast! Vrum! Mama mia, that looksa like good editing to me! Could win: Parasite. I haven’t seen Ford V. Ferrari, but the idea that the academy will go with the movie with the best editing the editing oscar went out the window with the trash heap that is Bohemian Rhapsody - one of the most objectively terribly edited mainstream movies in YEARS but hey maybe theyll give it to Parasite, I don’t know. Should win:  Not Jojo.

Supporting Actor Will win: Brad Pitt - I’m happy with this. He was good. Could win: The Shadow Self of Brad Pitt - Brad Pitt has been having difficulty with his anti-self for a long time, which may emerge in a interdimensional rift in space and time to claim his place as best supporting actor and dark lord of the positronic universe we live in. Should win: AL. FUCKIN. PACINOOOOOO

Lead Actress Will win: Renee Zellweger, because transforming yourself into another famous person always wins. Could win: idk Should win: Lupita Nyong’o in Us

Lead Actor Will win: Joaquin Phoenix - I don’t know if it was the BEST acting... but it was a LOT of acting, I guess! Again, happy for Joaquin, although I don’t know if this should be it. He should’ve gotten it for The Master. Could win: Adam Driver i guess Should win: Either Adam Driver or ADAM SANDLER for Uncut Gems babyyyy

Directing Will win: 1917 - Hey, it feels right. It’s a technically impressive film and they love that shit. Could win: Bong baby for Parasite Should win: Scorsese for again showing us he’s the fuckin G

Picture Will win: Parasite - This is for all the marbles and I’m going against all common knowledge here. In 2018, I thought the Oscars would go for the safe choice and not give it to Moonlight. WRONG. In 2019, I thought: okay, the Oscars is daring now. It won’t be Green Book. WRONG. Now I’ve pendulumed the other way again and think the Oscars will go for the safe choice. Well my instincts have been wrong for two years, so lets George Costanza this and go with the INVERSE of what I think. Could win: 1917 and it totally will, and when it wins if you listen closely you will hear me scream in the distance Should win: It’s The Irishman baby. What else could it possibly be?

Shiro:

He’d like Cirus for the most part, both leaders and level headed and protective of their kids team, but they’d probably fight for who was leader lmao.

If you’re a leader, ASH (especially after she was recently created) is a fuckin nightmare. They would never listen to him. How Shiro was with Slav is basically how they’d interact in the beginning. 

that being said, once ASH develops as a person (robot?) shiro would probably start treating them less like something he gives orders to and they execute, but more as an actual person (they kinda are, they do develop their own thought and ideas) 

Mala’s kinda skittish and reserved around new people but they’d bond over similarities, both don’t remember a lot of their captivity, got a cool white tuff, missing limbs replaced with weapons. they'd get along.

I honestly don’t know how he’d feel about Val? like he’d appreciate her smarts but she’s already cirus as a father figure but when he dies (spoilers for a story ill never publish lol), shed probably get really attached to shiro bc hes very similar to cirus 

Again with Aice idk how he’d interact with them....like shiro would probably train with them and would make sure they didnt get seriously hurt but theyve just got nothing in common or anything to talk about.

Pidge:

With Cirus, i feel like he’d remind her of her dad and so she’d be kind of distant from him at first and wouldn’t really interact with him. they would eventually talk cause cirus acknowledges that shes a huge part of why missions work and he needs to be closer with her.

Pidge would LOVE ASH so much. pidge would constantly work with val to upgrade and fix them and pidge would constantly interview them to see how they can have individual though when theyre a robot! shes so fascinated by ASH and surprisingly, ASH is really nice and protective of Pidge. 

ASH is programmed to care for those who are hurt, and because ASH can read people like a book, ASH quickly learns about her missing father. ASH and Pidge are the new platonic power couple of the group.

She’d probably be just acquaintances with Mala. Kinda like Shiro and Aice, Pidge wouldn’t want Mala to get hurt and vise versa but they just dont really know each other (and are okay with leaving it at that.) 

She’d admire Val. After all Val literally built her new bff so...jk pidge really does look up to val and they talk about techy and science shit a lot that only hunk and coran can follow.

Her and Aice would connect over small stuff like being so far from your family, and their love for creating stuff. Aice would teach pidge how to sew for sure (Pidge would want to know how to make fabric based casings for different robots and aice knows how to sew soo)

Keith: 

Honestly with all of them I don’t thin keith would be super close with any of them.

Like he’d talk with them about interests that aline, Aice with training, Cirus with leading, Val and ASH with technology. But beyond that theres no real connections.

(this might just be because im not a huge keith fan so i dont bother to give him connections lmao)

Lance: 

He’d look up to Aice and Cirus, they’re both super strong and amazing with guns. The three of them would bond over cool downs after training, getting food and chatting. He knows a surprising amount of information about them because of said food and chat sessions. 

He asks Cirus to teach him to sniper and how to spot angles etc. With Aice they just train a lot bc theyre both long range.

He tried jokingly flirting with Mala once but noticed she left and was super uncomfortable so he went to go apologize and they talked and he learned a lot about her too.

what im trying to say is lance has a skill for reading people and can relate to literally everyone 

he went to go look at the stars one night and found val overworking herself so he invited her to go look at the stars together and they bonded over that fact that they both miss their family and home. 

Val promised to take lance to Ashara sometime because its a lot like Earth, its 85% fresh water, 7% salt water, 5% rainforest, and 3% beach.

He thinks ASH is super cool but they fight a lot. someone who gives out every idea they have mixed with someone who only narrows down what the consider the ‘best logical plan’ would not get along most the time.

Hunk:

Same with pidge, he fucking loves ASH. he sometimes joins pidge during her interview sessions with ASH but just asks random questions rather than pidges statistical ones.

“whats the one stop tool to fix a broke cooling system?” “a contermator” “dont know what that is so im gonna say youre wrong, its a wrench!”

loves cooking with Aice and again, they train together a lot because, again, both long range and they teach each other their different skills. aice teach hunk how to clean a super computer cooling system (aka ASH’s room), and hunk teaches them how to fix a ship. 

He doesn’t talk much with Cirus or Val. Again, cares for their well being but they just don’t have much in common to talk about. 

Val does teach Hunk a lot about ASH’s system tho and sometimes joins him and pidge during their time working on ASH.

He tries to teach Cirus to cook but that man is hopless.

SPEAKING OF COOKING he hates malas godly bread skills.

how does she NOT know how she does it? she doesnt have a recipe???? nothing! JUST GODLY BREAD!

jk he and mala bond over cooking, hunk again tries to teach mala how to cook and she learns pretty quickly (isnt as good as hunk tho) but whenever she tries to teach him how to make bread it never turns out as good ;-;

Coran: 

Cirus is happy that hes not the oldest one anymore. Both Coran and Allura are sure Cirus is altean because of his markings so Coran’s first idea is “Im now this boys father”. Coran likes telling him about altea and in return Cirus tells him about the different planets he been to during his time as a soldier.

Close with Val and ASH. ASH is honestly intimidated by him because they know hes a really good mechanic and might even have been world knowledge than her. Val and Coran like talking science shit and build little things together.

Once Val told Coran that he reminded her of her uncle and then that dived into where is her uncle/family, so she tells him basically her entire backstory (she kinda snaps it was a long week) and after that Coran adopts another kid

He doesn’t talk much with Aice or Mala but does enjoy their company, claims his cooking is better than Aice and has gotten into a few self defense debates with Mala, but they dont know much about each other.

Allura: 

Like Coran thinks Cirus is altean (backstory to that i have a headcanon that the altean race survived but theyre kinda hanging on by a string because i dobt every single altean in all of the universe was on altea the day it was destroyed. allura and coran survived why couldnt have others?) and she enjoys telling him stories of altea like coran.

she hates ASH so much and nobody blames her. ASH tests her patients a LOT and disobeys her authority a lot. Allura tried convincing Val to just program them to be nicer but Val wants them to “become their own person and grow” 

allura thinks thats bullshit

she then convinced cirus to convince val, it didnt work

she and val are pretty close, they like talking about their families and lost planets together (Ashara is still around, it’s just hidden and few have access to it) but they do fight over ASH a lot for the aforementioned reason.

Doesn’t really talk to Mala, Mala’s not a huge people person and is also very cautions. Mala finds it hard to beleive the princess of a dead planet from 10000 years ago is still alive so shes kind of untrusting of allura but allura is willing to give mala some time

She likes cooking with Aice and Hunk. Because all of the paladins dont have any other clothing asides from what they left earth with, their sleep clothing and their suits, and she and coran are they same way, she and Aice decided to take clothing requests.

they made everybody new pajams, some more casual clothing and
