“Oh, excuse me, I’m sorry.” I said, stumbling as I picked up the bag I had knocked out of the man’s hand.
“No, you’re fine.” He said, his voice muffled and his smile hidden behind a mask. I raised an eyebrow at him. Something was nagging at the back of my brain. “I should have watched where I was going,” he said as he took the bag from me. I smiled and waved as he turned around when I finally realized who I was talking to .
“Hobi?” I asked quietly, taking a small step forward when he stopped and turned around.
“Oh, you recognized me.” He said, but stopped when I took off my sunglasses.
“It’s me, remember?” I said, folding them and slipping them into my coat pocket. His eyes lit up with recognition.
“Ay! Kai!” He exclaimed, clapping his hand over his mouth and ripping his mask off. His smile was brighter than the sun. He tackled me in a hug and laughed. “How have you-guys!” He interrupted himself. “Guys!” He shouted again.
“Ay, Hobi-hyung, let’s go!” A familiar, agitated voice said.
“Look who I found!” He whirled me around and practically dragged me towards the other six. “Look!” He bounced on his feet in excitement.
Jungkook gasped and tackled me in a hug fiercer than Hobi’s. “Kai! Oh my goodness!” He grabbed my face and laughed.
“Hey!” I said back, giving each of them a tight hug. “How are you guys!”
“We’re good, how about you? You look good.” Hobi said, his eyebrows raised.
“You look better.” I said, checking them all out. “Jeez, you got tall,” I said to Jungkook. “And muscular.” I grabbed his shoulders and squeezed with a wink. He blushed.
“How have you been?” Jungkook asked, wrapping his arm around my shoulder.
“Well, I just graduated college, and now I’m looking for a job,” I explained.
“Waa! Really!” Jin pitched in.
“Yup.” I nodded.
“For what?” Jungkook asked.
“Well, I majored in dance and now I’m trying to find a job related to that.” I said sheepishly, predicting their next move.
“You? Dance?” Yoongi asked, stopping me.
“I know, I know.” I sighed.
“You hate to dance!” He exclaimed.
“Well, not anymore,” I said. “After you guys started getting more popular and we started to drift, I took it up. I really love it now.” I said with a grin.
“Well, come over to the studio and show us what you got.” Hoseok said, poking my stomach. He frowned and poked again.
I chuckled and lifted the hem of my shirt, flexing slightly. His jaw dropped. “No! What happened to my little tummy!” He cried, pressing on my abs.
“Ah, Hobi, don’t hate my muscles. Dancing requires muscles.” I explained, slapping his hand down.
He pouted. “I miss the tummy,” he whispered. I dropped my shirt and giggled. He grinned and winked.
“Well, I’d love to, but I don’t have clothes.” I said, gesturing at my skinny jeans.
“If we can dance in skinny jeans, you can.” Jimin teased. “But, we also have clothes if you need any.” He offered.
“Yeah, that’d be fine. And, I’ve never had to dance in skinny jeans, so I may rip them, and I do not want to do that.” I chuckled.
The others smiled as we began walking. “I’m glad we ran into you, Kai.” Jungkook said.
“Awe, Kookie, you’re sweet. I’m glad I saw you seven as well. I’ve missed you lately.” I sighed, wrapping my arm around Jungkook’s waist.
“Well, now we’re all together again. How long has it been?” Kookie asked, tilting his head back. “Three years?”
“Yeah, I think. You were a freshman when we met and a junior when we split, so about two or three, actually.” I said, squeezing his small waist possessively. My gaze flitted over to Hobi, who had his eyes on my hand.
“Hobi? You okay?” I asked, waving him over. He smiled and took my hand.
“Of course I am. I just met you. Again.” He laughed. He laced his fingers with mine and sighed. “Three years, wow.” He said.
“Yeah. You seven have changed quite a bit,” I noted. “Kookie especially. You’re taller than everyone now.”
He grinned. “And stronger,” he whispered.
I laughed and squeezed his waist. Hobi rubbed my knuckles with his thumb. “When’s the comeback?” I asked suddenly. “I’ve been a little out of the loop lately, graduating and all.”
“You kept up with us?” Namjoon asked, leaning around Hobi to glance at me.
“Of course I did. You guys were my best friends until I had to go to college. Since I graduated, I haven’t been able to really focus on your music anymore,” I explained.
“May eighteenth,” Namjoon whispered.
“Damn, that’s close.” I said. It’s currently January fifth.
“Yeah, we’re excited. Don’t tell anyone.” He asked.
“Of course. I’d never.” I promised, smiling at him. “Could I get a sneak peak at the tracks?” I teased, wiggling my eyebrows.
“Maybe,” Hoseok teased back, which brought a question to my mind.
“Hobi, when’s the hixtape gonna drop? You’ve been working on it for a while.” I said. He grinned.
“Soon.” Was all he said.
“So, before you die?” Namjoon asked, clapping his hyung on the shoulder. He didn’t seem to get it, but Jimin did.
He giggled. “Be nice,” I scolded, gently slapping his shoulder.
“Huh?” Hobi asked, turning to his hyung.
“Don’t worry about it, hon.” I said, patting his back. He smiled and rolled his eyes before taking my hand back into his. He grinned widely. “It’s nice, being with you guys again,” I said, wrapping my arm tighter around Jungkook and laying my head against his chest.
“Yeah,” Jungkook said. “It is. It’s like highschool never ended.” He patted the small of my back, his fingers finging my ticklish spot.
“Oh, don’t you dare even think about it, you rascal.” I warned, scooting away from him. Hobi wrapped his arm around me from behind. “Tickle me and I will fight you.” I said, raising my fists threateningly. He and the others all laughed.
Hobi’s body was warm and firm against my back as he shook with laughter. I grinned and snaked my arm around Hoseok’s waist. He rubbed my shoulder with his thumb as we continued to walk. “By the way, her ticklish spot is on her lower back, just above her waist.” Jungkook commented.
I wrenched away from Hoseok and launched at him. “You jerk!” I exclaimed, landing a punch on his bicep.
“Ow!” He cried out. “Hey,” he laughed.
A pair of arms grabbed my waist and pulled me away. Hobi rested his chin on my head. “If any one of you boys even try to tickle me, you will regret it.” I warned.
“Ah, Kai, it’s nice having you back.” Jungkook said, wrapping his arms around my head and hugging me tightly. Jungkook was my best friend in high school, ever since his freshman year and my sophomore year.
“Hey, are you okay?” I asked, approaching the timid boy.
He stumbled, his mouth opening and closing like a fish as he worked out what to say. “Let me, I’m Kaylie.” I stuck my hand out for him and he stared at it before gently shaking it. He barely shook it before jerking his hand away.
“I-I’m Jeon Jeongguk.” He said, barley above a whisper.
“Well, are you okay?” I asked, crossing my arms over my chest.
“Huh?” He jerked his head up, his eyes darting from mine to behind me, back to mine. “Oh, I’m sorry, yes, I’m fine. Thank you.” He whispered.
“You’re shy,” I said with a laugh. He blushed slightly. He shook his head at something behind me, which caused me to turn around. I spotted six incredibly amused boys staring at him. “Who’s that?” I asked, moving to stand next to him as I inspected each of the six boys.
The six of them were laughing with each other, all of them pointing and looking at Jeongguk. “Talk!” One of them shouted.
Jeongguk shook his head at the six of them. “Brothers?” I asked, but none of them looked alike.
He shook his head no. “You don’t know who I am? Who we are?” He asked, pointing at himself and the others.
I looked at him in confusion before looking at the others. “No? Should I?” I asked, turning back to him. Now that I looked, I could see that all of the girls surrounding Jeongguk were whispering and murmuring, pointing at the shy boy. “What, are you famous or something?”
“Yeah, actually. We are a little.” He whispered.
“I’m sorry?” I asked, laughing shortly. It was hard to believe that this timid boy was famous.
“We’re BTS.” He explained.
“BTS? Sorry, I haven’t heard of them.” I said, glancing at the others again.
“Bangtan Sonyeondan.” He said. Bulletproof Boy Scouts? I thought, Interesting.
“Well, I’ll be sure to look you up when I get home.” I said, smiling at the boy. “It was nice to meet you, Jeongguk-nim. I’ll see you later.” I said, giving him a pat on the arm as I walked away. He called out a goodbye as I walked past the six others, who all stared as I passed.
“Ah, I remember when you were so shy,” I reminisced.
“Were?” Hobi laughed, looking at his maknae. “He is still shy.” They all laughed.
“Jungkook-ah, come on. You’re, what. Twenty now? You shouldn’t be so shy any more! Plus, you’re a superstar.” I teased, poking his side.
He sighed, shaking his head at us as Hoseok continued. “He’s especially shy around women. Pretty women, which must say something, since he isn’t shy right now.” Hoseok said slyly.
I dropped my jaw and swivelled to stare at him. “Jung Hoseok!” I exclaimed. “How dare you!” I reached out and slapped his arm.
“Ah, Kai, I’m kidding, I’m kidding!” He yielded, holding his arms up as a shield. I stopped my attack, glaring at him as I stood closer to Taehyung, who was chuckling loudly. “And, for the record,” he said, leaning really close, “I think you’re super hot.” He said with a wink.
I blushed and pushed his face away, grinning as I tried to hide my burning face. He looked down at me, biting his lower lip with an eyebrow raised. Taehyung nudged me towards Hobi. Him and Jungkook are the only ones who know my secret. And I planned on keeping it that way.
