i think season 3 is when mike started going through a self-discovery period, some will related ‘issues’ and mike thinks that spending excessive time with eleven would remedy that.

mike is distant from his friends, because he associaties playing DnD and his new feelings for will as being ‘childish’. this is because in the infamous byler rain fight he says ‘we arent kids any more. di you think we were never gonna get girlfriends? that we were just gonna sit in my basement all day and play DnD?’

this proves he thinks the things he desires deep down are just childish desires and having a girlfriend is what grownups do. he looks regretful when will says ‘yeah, i guess i did. i really did.’ because deep down HE wants thoese things too, and was expecting will to say no.

i think mike did love her, sure, but it wasnt in the kind of way eleven needed, nor what he needed, iykwim. and plus i think mikes character is written like that (loving el non-romantically) on purpose because he is queercoded.

i think after the byler rain fight, mike got to grips with himself, which is why he looked so distraught when eleven kissed him, and why he couldnt say ‘i love you’ in the supermarket asile scene.

I definitely think mike realized he was queer in season 3, specifically between the time after starcourt to the byers moving away. something definitely happened in that time period to make mike smile like that when will says ‘not possible’ to joining another DnD party while he was away in california.

I sorta think jake lived in a trailer with his mom when he was younger, his mom wasn't particularly a bad person, just a bit depressed in an unhealthy way. Its js a random thought i had while i wondered why he wasnt used to talking to others, people tend to gloss over the fact that sometimes bad upbringings can also impact ones social interactions and say that its js their personality, when experience can shape ones personality

Many things can impact social life like bullying, low self esteem or social isolation. I think jake is confident in his skills which would cross off the former two and well, jakes dad has another family to go to so that would leave his mom sad and stuff

Summary:

Josie Bea Routledge longed for adventure and exploration; she wanted to travel the world, to see corners of countries that nobody had seen before - she was a nomad at heart, a wandering soul who was tied down to Kildare island by the intricately woven ribbons of fate. She hated most of the people on figure eight. How they would treat the hardworking folks from the cut, like they were superior.

Rafe Cameron was a self centred egomaniac. To many people, it seemed like his only purpose in life was to flaunt his father's wealth and act like a complete asshole to anybody and everybody. He could jet off to any country, any continent and never look back. He was privileged in that respect. He hated the pogues from the cut. How they thought they could worm their way up to the top and drag the people of figure eight down with them.

They were polar opposites, they had different priorities and different outlooks on life. Their destinies ran parallel from each other.

That is until revelations bring them closer together than they ever thought they would be.
