The kids coming out traumatized aren't traumatized because of the content they were a part of, but rather the way they were treated when they weren't acting. If the kids in R rated movies are being treated well on set then they'll probably turn out fine. The child stars that are traumatized have been abused by the adults in their life. Judy Garland didn't end up with trauma because of the contents of Wizard of Oz, she was traumatized because the adults on set abused her (sexually if I remember correctly). And Hollywood was terrible to children and teens at the time, her entire life was dictated and she was forced to diet constantly.
As much as we see child stars coming out traumatized from starring in kids’ shows and movies, you gotta wonder how the kids from R-rated horror movies turn out.
#i have something i want to add that ismt strictly related tl the above and i dont wanna take away from it#but i have theories on why disney children stars end up 'going downhill' after they leave Disney#and it has to do with their contracts as often the ones its been seen with (notable mily cyrus) have had contracts that dictate their#personal life to some degree as disney didnt want to be involved with any controversy#but this resulted in them growing ul not getting any room to grow or change#so the second they got out from disney's thumb they go in the opposite direction#i want to be clear this is no shade on miley i love her#she was 12 wheb the first season premiered and 18 when it ended#and from experience those are some pretty key years as you start to figure yourself out as for most people its when they start getting more#conteol inntheir life and a better ability to explore who they are more#and judy garland makes me so sad#she died at 47#which is too young#and it was from an overdose
