no because i just want to make toji gentle even with his ragged edges and sharp corners; open even with his built walls; loving even when he himself grew up loveless.

he deserves to be loved, yes. but he deserves to love too. he deserves a healthy and loving relationship, and many kind things!!!

(also, im absolutely smitten with him so i always end up projecting my desire for overflowing affection on him 😭)

like:

ღ latching yourself to toji’s side like an octopus whenever you two lay on the bed. it always makes him laugh, his shoulders shaking and the laughter spilling from his throat like deep rumbles, and you press your face on his shoulder to hide your growing smile. it’s useless though because toji can feel your lips stretching over his skin and he can feel the faint tremors of your stifled laughter, and his heart swells because wow. wow. toji never thought that he’d get to enjoy a quiet and domestic afternoon like this. but here he is, with you, letting the hours crawl by. and toji would not like it any other way.

ღ picking flowers with toji :((( when you told him that you wanted to “get flowers,” he didn’t think that you meant physically plucking them from the soil at the local flower farm. so there he is, using a crumpled take-out bag as a substitute for a basket to hold the flowers that you’ve plucked while you weave past strangers, casting fleeting looks behind you to check if toji’s still on your tail. he is. it’s not like toji would ever let you stray away from his eyes.

“having fun, kid?” toji asks when you finally amble back beside him, sagging in exhaustion and using his side to prop yourself up. toji’s arm wraps around your waist to support you, gently coaxing you to rest your head on his shoulder.

“yeah,” you reply, peering up at him. “thanks again, toji.”

toji bends down and kisses your forehead. “of course.”

ღ going out for breakfast with toji in the corner diner, at 05 am, because you two were having a terrible night — you two have had your arguments here and there, and every one of them always left toji feeling unsure all of a sudden; always had him asking himself, “would they leave me now?” even though he himself knows that you are not cruel like that — and neither of you two were able to sleep well so a very early morning breakfast it is.

the silence officially breaks when toji slides his cup of coffee to you. “want a sip, baby?”

you nod, softly sniffling. “yeah,” you say, your voice wavering.

toji’s heart clenches, and so he decides: to hell with it, and he stands up from his seat to slide beside you. your shoulders tense ever so slightly, and toji murmurs an apology before slowly pulling you into his arms.

“i’m sorry,” toji repeats. “i’m really sorry.”

you shake your head, your arms coming up to wrap around toji as well. “i’m sorry too,” you whisper.

you two hug each other tighter for a few more moments before slowly straightening back up and returning to picking at your breakfast. toji watches as you sip on his coffee and softly smiles at you when you slide the cup to him again.

you two will spend the rest of the day making up to each other, and, like always, it shuts up the gnawing turmoil in toji’s heart.

makes you walk on the inside of the side walk whenever you two are together. his reason being “you’re too clumsy and might end up walking on the street” but in reality he just wants to keep you safe :(

clings on to you whenever you’re making food because he hates being away from you (i’m gonna cry why isn’t he real? 🥲)

brags about how much he loves you to EVERYONE he knows cause he likes seeing you get flustered

toji was never around much. especially after he found out just who was taking care of his kids. gojo always thought kids were a burden. that was until nanami requested you and him raise megumi fusiguro and his sister. gojo was completely appalled by the idea. him? as a father? no way. but of course he felt obligated from the moment he saw megumi and tsumiki. they looked so sad, he saw a bit of himself in them.

tsumiki had been in a coma for a while now, megumi was going into the second grade. but of course, gojo wanted him to feel safe. so did you. thus resulting in homeschooling. he had gotten more used to calling gojo dad, but he still finds himself apologizing sometimes.

"mom, i miss mimi." megumi sighed.

"i miss mimi too, my dear. we can talk about it now, or if you want we can wait until you finish your lesson. ill give you a short one today." you repiled, hiding the fact that your heart was broken, your only daughter was pretty much gone. sure she wasn't biologically yours, but that never mattered with gumi and miki. they made it clear you were their mother.

"i dont think i wanna talk about it right now."

"thats fine love."

gojo was out on a mission, which was fine because megumi finally had the chance to study in peace. he was doing great, megumi was a very smart boy, and so was his sister before the incident happened. it wasnt fair to him, or gojo, or tsumiki herself for the matter. you were so proud of megumi, though. he was onto math. he soared through reading with ease.

it had been 5 years since you and gojo started to foster the two siblings, and your relationship grew with the kids.

"hey y/n, i need to tell you something."

and oh boy did gojo have something to tell you. but that was three years ago. now your guy's anniversary was today and he was on a mission. you can't blame him though, he just wants the world to be safe when tsumiki returns to consciousness.

your phone started to ring, "hey gumi, ill be back." the child nodded as you went into the other room.

"y/n?"

"yes gojo?"

"happy anniversary, im case im not home tonight i just wanted to let you know i didnt forget!"

"well, thank you baby. now go finish this mission. i miss you."

"miss you more, bye bye."

with a sigh, you went in the dining room with megumi, he was already done with his lesson. "hey mom, can we watch a movie together?" he asked with hope in his eyes. "of course honey. c'mon." he nodded, running off to his room. he came out with tsumikis blanket you and gojo had made her. "miki can watch too! and protect us from the cold!" he said with a smile on his face. "well of course she can baby! now c'mon, its naptime anyways."

the two of you cuddled up on the couch and ended up falling asleep together.

it was late when gojo had gotten home, tired and worn down, he couldn't help but feel his heart swell at the sight of you and megumi asleep on the couch together. he picked up megumi, doing his best to try to not wake you up, and put him in his own bed. with a soft smile he rubbed your forehead with his thumb before planting a kiss on it. this, of course woke you up in the best way possible.

"well hey handsome." you smiled at him, standing up.

"well hey there beautiful." he replied, tenderly kissing your lips. "come on, its bedtime for you too." he said, placing his hand on the small of your back.

after the two of you got to your bedroom, gojo drew a bath for you. he walked back out to see you upset. "hey, whats wrong?"

"i miss my mimi, babe."

"oh honey.." he said, wrapping you in a hug, "its not your fault. please dont think that."

"its just-" you began, voice quivering.

"shh, its okay. i know."

of course gojo knew, he knew everything about you. you found it comforting, he was your safe place.

"now c'mon y/n. your bath is ready." gojo said, helping you stand up. he took you to the bathroom and started to leave,

"hey."

"hi." he said, turning back around.

"you need a bath too." you said with a smile.

"are you sure?" he asked, you nodding in reply.

sure, the two of you have had sex in the tub before, but this wasnt one of those times. this was just pure, wholesome, love between the two of you. gojo placed his hand on your cheek, "happy anniversary, y/n. i love you."

and there it was, the stone cold, icy haired man had said it. he loved you. of course this took you by surprise as you know how he used to be.

"i love you too gojo. thank you for everything."

I will definitely consider it! The neighbor!Toji was intended to be a little more sadistic to be honest, but one of my favorite tropes is a mean character being soft for the reader and ONLY the reader. So having him develop feelings would be a fun twist! Ooh now I'm going to be thinking about boyfriend!Toji and how protective he would get 🥺

I'm in the middle of writing a fic for a different fandom so it might be a bit, but I do love this idea a lot, and someone else expressed interest in a part 2 as well. So I'll see what ideas I can gather up!
