u can always take a plushie with you in public if you want. people will think its cute and compliment you, and even if they're too shy to compliment you directly you will see people's eyes light up when they see your stuffed animal.

if somebody doesn't like it, it's unlikely that they'll come up to you and tell you directly since that's considered rude. if they do then that's their own problem, but i assure you most people who notice a plushie being held in your arms or peeking out of your bag will find joy in it, it might even be the highlight of their day.
