#i have no idea how many hits kudos or comments any given fic has and trying to remember where that info is found is drawing a big ole blank

Literally summary + tags + what was the genre of the last thing I read (I love to continue a vibe). The only numerical metric I look at is chapter count, if I need a tie breaker. Usually can tell whether the fic is gonna be read right away, saved for later, or dropped in the first paragraph.
It helps that I've been reading fic for 24 years, starting on self hosted websites that didn't have any of those metrics available for view, lol
Another AO3 thing I’m curious about, how do yall decide if something is good enough to read? Usually I follow a rule of 1 kudos for every 10 hits. One because it’s easy math and two it’s yet to fail me. Thoughts? Do you just go for it and pray it’s good?
