Monkey D. Luffy

🐚 Luffy is absolutely in love with physical touch no matter who it is! He's completely comfortable initiating it toward anyone, finding it the best way to show his affection.

🐚 Toward his partner, he just can't keep his hands to himself. He's hand holding with them always, planting kisses all across their face, etc.

🐚 He'll end up stretching his arms to pull his partner if they're far away and drag them toward himself to hold them close to his body in a hug.

🐚 Luffy is absolutely addicted to their touch and will whine, wrapping his arms around them to convince them to cuddle in bed if they try and refuse him.

Roronoa Zoro

🐚 Zoro is distant even with friends in terms of affection. It's just what he's been used to all his life and he can't break out of the habit easily.

🐚 With his partner, he tries to do it more often although they have to initiate it most of the time.

🐚 Zoro keeps his touches light and generally hidden. Leading his partner with his hand on their back as they walk, reassuring them by rubbing their arm, or locking his hand with theirs under the table.

🐚 When completely alone, he gets a bit softer even if he is still hesitant. His eyes will have a small shine as he caresses their cheek, memorizing their face with pure adoration.

Nami

🐚 Nami likes physical touch but only when she's known the person long enough. She welcomes hugs and other touches but if it's a stranger, she'll shrug them off and tell them not to do so again.

🐚 Her partner definitely knows how affectionate Nami can be. She can't help it since she's so in love with them!

🐚 Nami might try and complain if she's busy despite knowing how much she loves it. Trying to navigate with her map, using her finger to memorize the pathways and lands, she felt her partner's hand come around her waist and their head resting on her shoulder.

Vinsmoke Sanji

🐚 Sanji is sly and confident in taking his opportunities to initiate physical touch. It's not even necessarily in a perverted way, but just because he loves to show affection physically.

🐚 His partner will never know the end of his affection as he uses any excuse to touch them. His hand lingers on theirs as he passes their plate to them or he'll swear that he just needs to spoon them when he sleeps or else he'll be cranky in the morning.

🐚 Usopp will just be head over heels if his partner initiates physical touch on their own. Even if it’s in passing like a small kiss before a fight starts, he has to take a moment to process before snapping back to reality.

Mihawk

🐚 Mihawk isn't shy as much as he is reserved. He isn't a big fan of PDA although he'll indulge his partner in private.

🐚 He's very much someone who only tolerates so much from his partner over anyone else. If anyone else attempted, he's giving a warning look when they even try and reach out to him. For his partner? They could be smothering him while he's trying to focus and he's not making any effort to take them away.

🐚 Shanks is affectionate towards those he knows and doesn't hesitate to show it. He's just so loving and that doesn't go away for his partner.

🐚 Shanks is always so soft and gentle. His way of showing physical touch is always delicate.

🐚 He'll be laying down, barely awake, swearing he isn't asleep like always. When he senses his partner beside him, he'll crack a smile and pull their face closer, placing a small kiss at their cheek.

🐚 In group settings, he'll have a drink in one hand while his other hand will be firmly around the waist of his partner. He just loves having them close.

Buggy

🐚 Buggy is not capable of shame and is unapologetic, especially with his partner in terms of PDA.

🐚 Genuinely doesn't matter who is in attendance, he's holding onto them in any way he sees fit. Preferably he has his partner sit in his lap while he talks.

Not to fall into hyperbole, but I owe OnlyMurphy my life. If you’re here reading this list then surely you love this author already, so this a good excuse to re-read the entire Grow Old With Me series. Sanji’s characterization is top-notch, and if you enjoy explorations of his self worth issues and how they would affect an otherwise loving romantic relationship then look no further. Also the author is a very talented smut writer (very talented writer in general, make no mistake), and that's the greatest accolade I can give them. Imagine me putting a gold metal around their neck but I’m the one who's moved to tears about it.

I’m linking the masterlist for this author ‘cause I really like all their Sanji-centric fics, and I’d love, love, love to see more. Sanji is so princely and devoted, just an absolute dream of a man, and he’s putting a lot of effort into making the reader feel loved. He gets stellar results in my opinion.

Each time I open Tumblr and I see a new post by her, my day gets a little brighter. She writes one of my favorite versions of Sanji ever, insatiable and devoted and so, so hot. He couldn’t be more my type if he tried. 

I want to single out her vampire!Sanji one-shot because I haven’t seen this trope used by anyone else and I liked it a lot! It fits so well, what with the theme of hunger and Sanji’s inability to ask for what he needs:

Fanaticsnail, you’re the only one who has ever made me willingly click on a smut fic that involved Doflamingo just because Sanji was there, too, and I love your Sanji so damn much (p.s.: everyone go read it, 🌶 Seat Number Four).

This fic…holy shit. I’m genuinely writing this with tears in my eyes. The yearning & pining & longing mixed with the sexual tension so thick you can cut it with a knife makes for a truly incredible read. Only for real Sanji lovers, if you’re not nodding along at each desperate thought the reader insert has about this man then I’m sorry but you’re only a casual Sanji liker.

7. 🌶 My heart is thrilled by the still of your hand by ladyhabanera

[screaming crying throwing up] no yeah I’m very normal about this fic, I like it a totally normal amount. In the Ao3 comments I say that “Sanji is so so dreamy—a heady mix of submissive and deeply romantic”, and then if you scroll a little you find my other comment which is just me yelling in all caps at my second reread. I not only stand by both, but I’m doubling down. 

8. Puzzled by @mynewblackdress

What a lovely series, and what a lovely trope…misunderstandings due to bad communication are as irritating and useless in real life as they are incredibly fun to read about. The reader is convinced that Sanji’s earnest compliments are his fucked up way of making fun of her, and it takes a while before they figure out that he means every word. Give it a read if you want a break from the sea of smut that I’ve added to this list, and you're the mood for opla!Sanji in particular. 

9. Sweet Confession by @softonshanks

I have one specific weakness that I’m glad to often see in fics: Sanji getting a hug while he’s busy cooking, and he’s all cute and flustered about it because he didn’t expect the affection.  And this fic has that + Sanji’s a pining mess for the reader, who he’s FWBs with despite the fact that he’s totally in love with her + she’s taller than him and he loves it. I’ve hit the jackpot. I’d love to see more Sanji fics from this author, so much so that I’m gonna ask her pretty please in Italian: Sara, ti prego, facci sognare.

10. 🌶 Your Name by @strawhatsoraya

Now, the one pining in this fic is me. Sanji and the reader are actually complete strangers, but if what appeals to you in mutual pining fics is the gut-wrenching depth of the feelings described, then I think you should check out this little one-shot. My notes on Ao3 are “Tfw when a pwp hits your id so well it bypasses making you horny and goes straight to suicidal”—do with that what you will. I don’t usually read Sanji fics where Zoro is heavily involved, but I’m glad that that didn’t stop me from clicking on this one (also, to be fair, they take turns on the reader. Well, the reader takes turns on them.) My note on the Ao3 bookmark is “God-tier sad horny Sanji characterisation”...couldn't have said it better, me from the past. 

12. 🌶 Shaken Up Hearts by @lyriumcoloredskies

Okay so I lied, maybe I do like it when Zoro is heavily involved, as long as it’s a collab to team up on Sanji. Sanji gets lovingly demolished in this one, but before he gets there he’s sad like a kicked puppy about not being allowed to kiss both you and Zoro. Who am I to say no to a heavy dose of Zosan in my het Sanji smut?

13. 🌶 Nuvole e Lenzuola by redtendou

This one’s niche because it’s written in Italian. I was stunned by the author’s ability to make a graphic sex scene actually work despite Italian’s atrocious sex-related lexicon–trust me, it’s a struggle. If you’re into Zoro and the reader ganging up on Sanji and you understand Italian, definitely give it a read.

Spa day for the soul

Fics where you take care of Sanji, or Sanji takes care of you, or where there are actual spa activities thrown into the mix. God knows this man needs some TLC once in a while.

14. 🌶 My Pampered Prince by @sheerxfiction

It’s Sanji’s turn to spend some time flat on his back on the kitchen table–it’s what he deserves. If you’re craving a brilliant smutty fic where Sanji gets pampered then you've foudn it, the reader take really good care of him in this one–and I have to give bonus points for the heavy dose of Sanji’s self-worth issues and the readersinsert fighting back against his refusal to get taken care of. Get loved, idiot.

15. 🌶 Shower Time by @chibieggplant

Cute, hot, sexy–I’m talking both about the writing and Sanji in this fic. He takes a shower with the reader and spends the entire time in disbelief that he gets to tenderly wash her body, feeling quite embarrassed by how into it he is, despite the fact that this an established relationship fic. And that’s how I like my boys!

16. 🌶 Vinsmoke Sanji: Not all Men are Rats by livingonadaydream

I love, love, love fics where Sanji gets pampered…but it doesn’t hurt to read the complete opposite once in a while. A very sweet Sanji makes sure that the reader gets a very happy ending.

First Time

We'll never know the canonical sexual history for any One Piece characters because Oda is, unfortunately, a coward. However I'm not surprised that Sanji is considered by many the most virgin to have ever virgined in the history of virginity—so here's a list of fics where you pop his cherry. This one has to be the first I tell you about. If you go check the comments on Ao3 you’ll find me absolutely losing my mind after my first read, and there’s no quick comment I can add here to fully explain how much I love this author, her writing, and–Good Lord in Heaven–the way she writes Sanji. He’s a virginal pervert. He’s got that dog in him and it happens to be a cute little puppy. He’s so sweet and adoring he can’t bear to tell you how often he thinks about fucking you. 18. 🌶 Lust by @tetzoro

Ooh, this one’s hot. It starts so poetic and romantic, but as Sanji loses himself in the feeling the descriptions get more carnal. I love his POV here. Also it involves one of my favourite things ever: the readers starts on top but when it gets too good Sanji can't resist and he flips her over to do all the work himself. Who else cheered?

Sex Pollen

While writing this rec list I realized I have at least four sex pollen fics where Sanji eats something he shouldn’t and then…I wanna say “regrets it”, but the consequences are that he has hot sweaty sex with someone he’s really into. If he were to notice the trend I think he might start putting the wrong thing in his mouth on purpose.

From the blog name alone I knew I’d found a kindred spirit. They have written for both the animanga and OPLA, and to be honest it’s hard for me to pick a favorite work. That’s a lie, this one’s my favorite. The author has a great sense of humor, and this fic in particular is both very funny and incredibly hot. I love how desperate and pathetic Sanji gets, and how hard the reader insert is trying to keep things PG before it becomes obvious they just have to fuck! Good problems to have if you ask me.

20. 🌶 a fever you can't sweat out by @cryocandy

I remember reading this one day right before work. My shift was about to start, and I was sitting by myself in the car reading the smoking hot sex scene for no good reason at all, ensuring that I wouldn't be able to focus on anything productive for the rest of the day. Sanji in this fic is so dreamy and cute and pathetic, all qualities enhanced greatly by the amazing writing. If you don’t think you like fuck-or-die fics, do yourself a favour and read this one anyway. 

21. 🌶 Needy Boy by @maddddstuff

My note on Ao3 for this one was “Single-handedly made me into spanking btw, if you even care”, and I stand by it. He’s the one that gets spanked by the way, in case someone was in doubt.

Sanji’s a mess in this one. A total and complete mess, and I loved every word of it–also, since in the first part Sanji is struggling against the effects of the sex pollen all on his lonesome, this fic might also appeal to my fellow Sanji whump fans.

Dom!Sanji & Co.

Just because I have a preference for Sanji being a sub it doesn’t mean I will scoff at fics where he’s more dominant in bed. Here are the ones I stumbled upon that I’ve really liked! (Also I’m using the term “dominant” very loosely here, in some of these fics he’s simply more assertive in bed.)

23. Too Much (Take Me Home) by @secretwritingspot

This is THEE dom!Sanji series for me. There’s no sex in it, it’s more of an exploration of the sub/Dom dynamic and why someone would crave submitting to another person. Sanji finds himself in the dominant role with little warning, but he’s damn great at it in his usual adoring and tender way. I’m linking the first fic of the series, but the author has written more for this scenario!

24. 🌶 Leg Day by 1LucaCola1

The title says it all; fantastic premise for a smoking hot pwp fic. If I had the opportunity to train and make good use of Sanji’s expertise, I’d also push myself too far until my legs were shaking, and then let him do other things to me to make the shaking even worse.

25. 🌶 very professional nights by @missfrustration

Ugh, I love this one! Sanji is your superior at the Baratie, and he’s so very stern with you until he isn’t at all. Love the bait and switch of a Sanji whose professionalism makes him act a little cold when clients’ satisfaction is on the line but simply melts when he’s alone with the reader. And everything he ends up doing to the reader in this fic, I’d hardly call a punishment.

Soft dom Sanji fucks you hard but he’s sweet talking to you in French the whole time. I don’t know what else to add to convince you to read this one, that should be plenty.

27. 🌶 Midnight Snack by BombasticBastard

This fic is a part of a Sanji/Reader/Zoro series, but I’m linking Part 2 where it’s just you and our lovely boy. As the title says, the reader is craving a midnight snack and goddamn, she gets the best one the Sunny’s pantry has to offer. This could also go in the Dom!Sanji category because he quite literally talks you through it, as the kids say nowadays, but he also showers the reader in compliments & he confesses his love, so overall he’s too much of a big ol’ softie to call him dominant in any way.

28. 🌶 All It Takes by mooseskulls

Reader catches Sanji being the pervert that he is, stolen underwear and badly-hidden moans included. This one has both a gender neutral version and a transmasc!reader one, I thought that was lovely–this way lots of different people can enjoy the “getting bent over the kitchen counter” scenario. 

29. 🌶 Compliments to the Chef by @tigreblue

The Author says this is their first fic–if that’s the case, they’ve got a bright future ahead of them. We all know Sanji doesn’t easily accept love and gratitude, but some good ol’ finger-sucking ought to convince him. Things degenerate beautifully from there.

Dark(er)

By darker I mean that I’m adding here fics where Sanji is something other than an absolute sweetheart. You’ll understand how actually dark any of these fics are from my comments and the authors’ tags, but they all have the general vibe of “Sanji is a sleazy pervert” in varying degrees of illegality.

Ooh…this one’s fucked up. Sanji is an unreliable narrator that makes non-con somnophilia sound kinda cute, actually (it really isn’t.) In his defense he’s written as some sort of incubus-slash-sex-demon. The author doesn’t go into detail but they don’t need to, it’s all about the sickly sweet mood (emphasis on sickly) of a tender lover who’s also a horrible, horrible person.

He’s a freak in this one, but he’s soooo nice about it and he’s soooo thankful that you’re letting him be a complete pervert who can get away with waking you up by stroking his cock over your face.

This one broke my heart and turned me on at the same time, I give it a full five stars. It’s a short and sweet one-shot where Sanji breaks down all your walls and then does the same to your trust in men…enjoy!

I realize only now that this fic and Smile for the Camera are by the same author. That’s not gonna stop me from reccing this little series, too–in the notes on Tumblr you can see that this was written for a “sleazeball collab”, which should tell you something about Sanji’s characterization. While reading this I felt like that lady in the comic about sexual harassment on the workplace…like yeah maybe I would be okay with it if the guy was hot enough. And by workplace I mean a shitty restaurant, and by guy I mean Sanji in the role of the line cook who smokes too much and is very transparent about wanting to bang you on the counter where lunch service is prepared.

34. 🌶 Use me by moosetracksandscenechanges

This fic! My God! I’m adding it here not because there are hard kinks or morally dubious dynamics between the characters, but I still think it fits. It has its sad moments due to a generally darker atmosphere and a more aloof version of Sanji (not that aloof, still recognisably himself)...but also he willingly gets tied to a bed. Sub Sanji lovers stay winning. My hopeless romantic heart hopes that Sanji and the reader will actually get together, but there’s a lot to love about the fwb dynamic they’ve got going on right now. A bittersweet read in the best way.

35. Conjugate the Ways by @secretwritingspot

Oh, Sanji has a foul mouth in this one, but he’s speaking French so he’s forgiven…also the reader has no idea what the hell he’s saying to her. It’s creepy in a cute way! The fic doesn’t include actual smut, it’s just Sanji fantasizing out loud about the things he wants to do with you, but if you’re in the mood for some good ol’ sexual tension, give it a read.

36. 🌶 Ma chérie by marriedtosanji

He lied to you! About being French, of all things! I would never forgive him. He’s really good in bed though, so he makes up for it. The smut here is so delightful it does a 180% and goes back to breaking my heart over the fact that I’ll never meet a cute stranger in a bar who wants to seduce and is also Mr. Sanji Onepiece himself. 

Voyeurism

I swear this isn’t even in my top 10 kinks, I guess that Sanji’s character simply inspires a lot of authors to put him in situations where he’s staring. Watching. Ogling. Observ–you’ve got the gist of it. 

37. “It’s entirely too obvious [...]” by @ofallthingsnasty

[giggling and kicking my feet] the reader makes Sanji sweat cold in this one…I love when he’s nervous, I love when he’s desperate for forgiveness! He doesn’t do anything bad, but the fic is all about him watching the reader eat and obviously liking it a bit too much. The mood is suggestive but overall it stays pretty innocent until the end.

I adore this fic, I remember reading the first chapter and hoping the author would update as soon as possible because I was hooked. Sanji catches you ogling him in secret and he plays into it cause he’s a horny bastard and the love of my life. The writing is incredible and Sanji’s characterization is so, so dreamy and sexy and adorable.

Loki Laufeyson had some big reputation, both on Asgard and here — on Earth. After causing trouble on both planets, he earned a spot on Tony Stark’s list of people he hated with a burning passion — and his name was in red underline. Why the red underline? It seemed that the heart of Iron Man’s younger sister had been stolen by the God of Mischief, which made Tony hate him even more.

And what could Tony do? Absolutely nothing. 

A few months passed since the news dropped and you had hoped that your brother would have accepted your relationship by now, but he still wished Loki would stay the Asgardian fuck away from you. 

To make the situation worse, Loki adored to kiss you right and whisper the dirtiest things to you right under Tony’s nose, just to rub it in his face. After all, he was the God of Mischief.

Tony's jaw clenched and his hand tightened around his glass of scotch as he saw you and Loki in the corner of the room kissing. It wasn't just a smooch. One on the low back of your dress, touching your bare skin while kissing you passionately. You’ll need a lipstick touch-up — and another drink — after that. The sight was making any pair of eyes jealous, wishing their man kissed them like that. 

Loki generally didn't like public displays of affection, but he loved to play with Tony’s nerves.

Gently, you broke from Loki’s kiss, keeping your hand on his jacket’s sleeve. ‘’As fun as provoking my brother is, let’s not make him too mad tonight.’’

‘’But you look absolutely delightful in this dress, darling. Pardon me for being unable to keep my hands off you,’’ Loki said, proving his point by lowering his hand down the curve of your back and stopping right at the top of your ass. 

You flashed a mischievous smile at the Asgardian God, wishing you could just leave this event without anyone noticing and finish the night in your bedroom, but it was almost impossible to escape your brother’s gaze. 

As if he had read your mind, Loki leaned in, his lips brushing against your ear as he whispered. ‘’Do you think anyone is going to notice if we elope for a few minutes?’’

‘’Unfortunately, there's a hawk watching us.’’ 

Across the room, Tony's dark eyes were glaring at Loki and you — especially Loki — as he watched the scene unfold before him, his expression a mix of anger, disgust and frustration. He took a sip of his scotch, trying to calm his rising irritation, but it didn't do much to soothe his nerves.

Loki rolled his eyes back in annoyance. ‘’Does he know you are a grown adult and don’t need a chaperon?’’ 

Tony’s behavior was overbearing, but he had his reasons — besides strongly disliking Loki. 

‘’He's overprotective — always has been. But he got worse after Mom and Dad died. All we had was each other now, so he stopped seeing me as his annoying little sister and gave himself the position of protective figure in my life. He scared so many of my past boyfriends away,’’ you explained with a chuckle. 

Losing a parent was a pain Loki knew. It gets easier with time, but never goes away. 

‘’I’m sorry about your parents,’’ he said, bringing your hand to his lips to kiss it gently. You gave him a soft smile. ‘’His tactics are not gonna work on me, though.’’

You exchanged a sly grin with Loki, then reached for his hand and led him away. 

The second the bathroom door was closed — and locked —, your back found the wall and Loki's hands went to your hips, pulling you against him as his mouth found yours, kissing you with a passion and hunger that was reserved for private moments. You didn’t mind being kissed in a crowded room, but some kisses were just too intimate for an audience. 

Loki groaned against your mouth and shifted his hands lower, having been holding back from grabbing your ass through your dress all evening. As much as he loved it, he wanted to rip it off your body. Instead of answering, you grabbed a chute of champagne from the nearest tray and took a long sip. Tony could be pissed all he wanted. He’d be a liar to say he had never done this in his younger playboy days.

Sept 2023 Wk 4

Ongoing Series - Thai

I Feel You Linger in the Air (Fri grey) ep 7 of 12 - occasionally I forget that Yai is like 20 and this is his first love affaire. That poem bit gave me very Goethe vibes. Lots of doomed lesbians in this ep. Doomed love in general. Frankly? I was hoping for more oil less sad. Also, these two are making some v stupid mistakes. Also: MORE boys dancing.

Finally... who was it wanted a rain kiss? You got your rain kissing here, okay? No umbrellas to be had, apparently.

Dangerous Romance (Fri YT) ep 7 of 12 - I love them so much. They are so darn adorable. I like how forthright Kang is. Boy has no game and is such a dork but at least he's enthusiastic. I love the “my boyfriend smells good” trope that BL is into these days. I’m into it, too. The bff enemies drunken bathroom shenanigans was v funny. Also @heretherebedork your boys are couple dancing all over the damn place this week.

I guess we get the boyfriends ep next week?

Hidden Agenda (Sun YT) ep 12fin - The conflict really kind of wasn’t in this last ep. But I guess it was a fine, if not a particularly strong, ending. I wish we’d had the family conflict threaded throughout the series. It would have felt like a deeper more honest drama and the actors could have handled it. They’re ready. How pretty were Joong’s single picturesque crystal tears? Honestly, it's been lovely, boys. Not at all memorable, but lovely.

Quick pitch Hidden Agenda: 

A relatively simple and harmless old-fashioned style university Thai BL, that started out Cyrano de Bergerac style but then drifted away into forgetfulness. It felt like it could have fit into the En of Love universe, except that it was high quality GMMTV with very pretty makeup. I enjoyed it for what it was, it's just that wasn’t much. 8/10 RECOMMENDED

Naughty Babe (Sat YT) ep 5 of 8 - Am I mostly watching this for Est and annoyed he doesn’t have a pair? Yes. (Am I writing a whole revenge plot in my head: "seduced to the good side by my enemy's hot bodyguard" with him and the Tem character? Yes. Yes I am. But that’s way too KinnPorsche for this show.) That said, MaxNat really are a great pair. Nice that Dio is figuring out how evil his own family is. Weirdly, I kind of like this speculation that if gay marriage were legal rich families would use it for arranged-marriage power plays. Can you imagine what China would do with this concept if they had access to it? 

Love in Translation (Sat iQIYI) ep 7 of 8 - The morning after was sweet, I do like it when we get these scenes in BL. FYI no one misgendered Bojji except the caption writer. The screaming "discovery" scene was adorable. And I am very much falling in love with all of the side characters. I also love how aggressive Yang is, like he stepped out of a 2016 Chinese BL into Thailand. And I adore the main brother relationship.

I have to say, this is going to be a difficult BL for me to review. I didn’t like the first 4 episodes but it seems like I’m going to love the final 3. I’m actually really looking forward to the finale next week. Boy, do I feel strange about this. In other news, is it just me or is it weird to get a gay kiss from Ngern almost 10 years later? How late is too late for smooching a boy?

Absolute Zero (Thai Weds iQIYI) - from 2021, Studio Wabi Sabi and New Siwaj finally brings us this “time loop to prevent tragedy” romance based on the novel of the same name. I think we can expect this to be sad (so it will likely slide down my list as I become more confident about this). Mix is a great actor, so I’m not worried about that aspect, but I am warning you this won’t be your classic fluffy Thai BL. It’s a bit slow moving for me so far. Meanwhile, a revelation:

Thai high school BL is all about the hands. I blame Love Sick.

FYI the outdoor movie they watch is Love of Siam Thailand’s first real queer movie, also featured in My Only 12%.

I'm in trouble, Ongsa is such a sunshine cutie and Sansoon is so lost and sad. Pretty sure I won’t have the patience for 12 episodes of this, but I’ll stick with it for now because a pair like this is yaoi-induced catnip for me.

Only Friends (Sat YT) ep 8 of 10 - Ah, Ray, baby, you can’t get what you want if you want the wrong thing. Also, corruption charges much? Is Ray turning into Ton or is that just me? I still hold that Jenny’s is the only story I actually wanted. Although, I did enjoy the two bi boys bonding over Freddie. GMMTV sure is making good use of Title now that they got him away from Wabi Sabi and I’m NOT mad about it (4 shows & counting). Under ordinary circumstances, I probably would have dropped this show by now. But something keeps dragging me back.

My Universe (Sun iQIYI) Right Time Right You ep 6 - This couplet ended up feeling like an amateurish short. It was interesting in that way shorts can sometimes push into unusual territory, but very slow. My favorite so far, but that’s not saying much since we've only had 3. Kinda amorphous ending. 5/10 watch it if you have nothing better to do. Next week's looks pretty but silly: You Are My Soulmate.

Venus in the Sky (Tues iQIYI) 5 of 10 eps - I don’t understand the bit with the girl, car & eyebrows. Was that all just ad copy? This show is so bad I’m mostly fast forwarding now. I mean the leads are cute and earnest but that’s it. NO SINGING! And... nothing happened this ep. 

Ongoing Series - Not Thai

Kisseki: Dear to Me (Taiwan Tues Viki & iQIYI) ep 7-8 of 13(?) - Buckle up I got A LOT to say. Ep 7 was the boyfriends ep! Look there’s a a lot of problematic going on here by western standards: age gap (FYI age of consent in Taiwan is 16) + teacher+student, but if you’ve been reading this blog for a while you should know that Taiwan likes both high heat and taboo content (and so do I) plus (unlike Mame) they just lean lube into those kinks. And I, for one, am delighted. I talk about taboo in terms of age gap here and stepbrothers here. I’ve never done teacher/ student because we don’t get it often enough (insert sad face). These are not things that I’m going to complain about or rehash, so, moving on...

I found a lot to love about ep 7: tie grabs, smiley kisses, communication, being held down, younger aggressor, AND preliminary research= all good things. They even brought in morning aftercare, and shared trauma! I love a show that’s both unexpected yet entirely classic Taiwanese BL. I love that the family appeared as a plot device and then disappeared again. It’s all highly amusing.

Gaga dropped ep 8 a week early, I’m assuming this was a mistake since they skip next week. But hey! 

Ep 8: def uhaul lesbians. Also cute queer fam moment. Ring finger biting = v hawt. Then of course it all goes south. Tres romantic means of taking the rap, gotta say. No one does gay sappy quite like Taiwan. Also, now we know why he loses his memory and Ai Di has to go in after him. Honestly, I’m not pleased to see yet another amnesia trope raise its ugly… head (why so many this year?). But it seems to be this year's trend. 

And I know there is more trauma coming, but in classic Taiwan fashion it’s all gonna be fine in the end even if that HEA is chaotic and entirely unearned. Don't worry, all. We good.

You Are Mine (Taiwan Fri Gaga) eps 4 of 10 - Oh noes, sunshine has a cold. And not from the rain... just, like, a normal cold. Amazing. But then when baby gets kidnapped, daddy gets v mad. Honestly, I am charmed by the show. It is very old-fashioned "domineering CEO puts little lady up against the wall" and it’s Taiwan, and thus I am not mad about it. This is what we would be getting from Mainland China if China we’re still making pulp BL. I am disposed to simply enjoy the utter "80s bodice ripper but gay"-ness of it all.

Bon Appetit (Korea Weds iQIYI) 1-2 of 8 - from 2022. If you have premium icky VIP you can binge it all now. I don’t, so instead I’m watching it 2 new episodes every Weds. Struggling heartbroken loser-ish office worker who lives off junk food + sunshine neighbor who loves to cook (from his past with a long-held crush). Also there is a "love class" element. Why does Korea like this conceit so much? Do their universities really engage in socialization training? Gotta say I’m getting whiffs of stalker... but only whiffs. Basically, this show is going poster child “way to a man’s heart is through his stomach“. Bit too much flashback, but I like that our chef is open about liking a boy, and I like that they remember things differently and in alignment with their own egos. And I like that we got a confession already. Ah KBL, it is nice to watch something that MUST move plot quickly. 

My Personal Weatherman AKA Taikan Yoho (Japan Sat Gaga) ep 6 of 8 - Jealous weatherman is ridiculous. Japan = queen of “why don’t you guys just talk?” 

Mr Cinderella 2 (Vietnam Sat YT) ep 2 - Ba Vinh & Minh Thao reprising their roles as Dung & Khoa what do we think? 8 eps? 10? We got the stepbrothers (or whatever they are) backstory. Also My Prettiest Cat-boy does certifiable nutcake v well. Psychopath looks hot on him.  

It's Airing But...

Crazy Handsome Rich (Sun Gaga) ep 3 of 10 - The sound. No. DNF 

I Cannot Reach You AKA I Can't Reach You AKA Kimi ni wa Todokanai (Japan Tues Netflix-Japan & ????) - Adapted from the manga, childhood best friends: The cool, smart one who’s good at everything, and his average, dorky friend who struggles. Always by the other’s side, but not together in the way they truly want to be.

Unfortunately I Cannot Reach You, in classic JBL fashion, could not be reached. 

In case you missed it?

Viki dropped Our Dating Sim the movie. I didn’t notice any extra footage and they took out all the in game/high school flashback stingers. At first, I didn’t really miss them but by the end of the movie I really did. So this is going to be one of those rare KBL instances where I recommend sticking to the original series over the repackaged movie.

10/1 Can I Buy Your Love From A Vending Machine? AKA Sono Koi, Jihanki de Kaemasu ka? (Japan cinema release in-country only) - This one is a movie from Japan so in customary fashion who tf knows when (or if) it will get international distribution. Salaryman Ayumu Koiwai just can't tear his eyes away from the strong, muscular man as he checks on the stocks of the vending machine in his office.

10/5 If It’s With You AKA Even If I Fall In Love With You AKA Kimi to nara Koi wo Shite Mite mo’ (Japan Gaga) - from MBS a live action adaptation of Kubota Maru’s manga ‘君となら恋をしてみても. Amane has stopped loving people due to trauma until he meets Ryuji. At first Amane just wants to play with Ryuji but… feelings. I am assuming 8 eps and rumored to be taking Weatherman's spot so that date is likely wrong.

10/6 What Did You Eat Yesterday Season 2 AKA Kinou Nani Tabeta? Season 2 (Japan Gaga) - 4th installment in this series (1st series, 1 special, 1 movie prior) about a lawyer who lives with his boyfriend, a hairdresser, and cooks for him. Season 2 will follow the couple as they enter their 50’s. Slice-of-life drama adapted from a beloved manga series of the same name.

10/6 My Beautiful Man: Eternal AKA Utsukushii Kare Eternal (Japan movie Viki & Gaga) - This is the 3rd and final installment the series. The 2nd season didn’t blow me away the way the 1st did, but I still liked it. I'm looking forward to the finale. I hope we get character growth for a change.

10/31 SHADOW (Thai VIU ????) - this is a horror BL featuring ghosts and other paranormal elements in a high school setting. I'm not wild about Thai horror (or horror at all, but if it must be done in BL let Japan do it). It features Singto (who did paranormal BL He's Coming to Me) opposite Fluke N (who's done a couple horror's before). Also Fiat. Dan suffers from sleep paralysis, and in his dreams he sees a shadow that suffocates him. It gets worse when he transfers schools.

October? Bump Up Project AKA Bump Up Business (Korea ????) - BL staring OnlyOneOf that released(??) as a movie in July but is now being recut and reissued as a series. Stars NineMill and from Idol Romance bulled as a love story between a trainee who is about to debut and a celebrity from the same agency (based on a webtoon). OnlyOneOf have been auditioning for this since Libido IMHO. You can watch me chronicle their BL MV work in this post. Idol Romance will do sad but can do good kisses (Wish You, Nobleman Ryu, Once Again, Kissable Lips, Poongduck 304, Tasty Florida, Tinted With You) but I don't think we will get any in this. After that OmegaX Shoulder bullshizz buisness I am very wary of this show.

Which tokyo revenger characters do you believe would be the overly jealous type (like anyone taking your attention away is already a major crime) vs the silent jealous type?

I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I hope it was okay, it was a little hard to figure out how to write it but I think watching the newest episode helped kind of remind myself of his personality?

In terms of this question....it's hard to say. Because I think they'd all be both depending on their mood but I think I'll break it down in a mini list for each.

Overly jealous type: | ♣ Draken, Rindou, Mochi, Sanzu, Nahoya, Takeomi, Benkei, Shinichiro, Baji ♣ |

Silent jealous type: | ♠ Mikey, Ran, Koko, Inui, Wakasa, Hanma, Souya, Mitsuya, Shion, Chifuyu ♠ |

I think they're overly/silently jealous for different reasons.

Where I think Draken, Rindou, and Shinichiro for examples, are overly jealous because they make it very well known that you are taken--it makes their blood boil when they see someone trying to capture your attention in any way. Shinichiro and Rindou (seperately) in gangs should care people off on their own, whereas Draken (time skip) is just a big dude who owns a body shop should be enough. So it makes their eyes twitch when someone tries something. On the other end, there's people like Sanzu who don't really know how to regulate their emotions when it comes to jealousy so they're very aggressive about it. I think him, Nahoya, and Rindou are the type to rip you away from whoever is talking to you mid conversation, regardless of what it's about. It's not important to him, and he doesn't like their tone. I think Takeomi might get like that when he's in Bonten, the syndicate already takes so much that even the slightest thing like that would set him off pissed. I think Baji and Benkei are just loud, so they'd make it very well known in that moment that you're very much taken, thank you.

To the silently jealous type I think it shows up in different ways. Wakasa, Koko and Mitsuya I think have the largest threshold of patience when it comes to jealousy, so they're always the quiet ones about it. It doesn't mean that it doesn't bother the shit out of them but they do try to keep it together enough (although you'll see them scowling and pouty and can't help but tease them a little bit--they got nothing to be jealous about!) Koko especially finds it stupid to be jealous but he really can't help it when he sees how people look at you sometimes. Then there's Inui, Souya, and Chifuyu who will take the time to be jealous but then it slowly turns into an ugly form of self hatred. Because how can they blame anyone for looking at you? You're too good for them, you should go after someone else. I think Inui has a really hard time with it. The jealousy turns sour really fast for him, and in turn sometimes it pushes itself onto the way he treats you, and you have to claw your way back into his bubble to reassure him. Then there are the nightmares like Hanma Ran and Shion. I think they like to play a little bit. I think if they had personalities like Rindou or Sanzu they'd be just as intense with it but I think the jealousy forms itself real ugly with them. They'll see how you react, and if you're not spitting in their faces, even if you're just trying to politely turn away, it's not enough. Sometimes, they'll toy with whoever's flirting with you and pretend like you're not together, eyeing you up with them and letting them say the nastiest things to you. (The person might end up dead, who knows!) I think you'll take the brunt of it though, being either edged or overstimulated (or both!) for hours until he has you begging for forgiveness with tears running down your face. He'll give you a big smooch after though!

Mikey is, I think, the biggest wild card. I put him in the silent jealous because I think it depends on the time of his life? I think dark impulse/manila Mikey and even Kanto Manji Mikey would be the self-loathing type, to think you deserve better. And he might disappear for a few days/weeks depending on the severity of it. If you thought getting through Inui is rough just wait for this bad boy! But I think if it's Bonten Mikey, YIKES he's worse than the trio above. He's terribly jealous, but quiet about it. But he'll absolutely merc whoever was flirting with you or looking at you. He won't let anyone know how jealous he is, it'll just happen. And then would take it out on you the worst. It wouldn't be abuse, of course it'll be consensual (you have a safe word for this reason) but he'll be harder than he normally is, slapping you across the face or spanking you harder than he has, or leave a shit ton of bruises. You'll be apologizing in no time, but he'd gag you after and continue just for funsies. ( I think he'd feel bad after and make it up to you just a little bit, but you'll be more careful with the people who are around you if not for their own sake)

I'm glad that BNHA ended with no canon pairing (I remember in one of your post, that you also hope BNHA have no canon pairing, right?). Did you hear what anti BKDK and anti Bakugou said? That because of "loud" BKDK shippers (including me), Hori scared to made Izuku/Ochaco canon. Are they serious? It's a het ship, cutest couple (yes, even if I'm BKDK shipper, I can say that IzuOcha is a cute ship), and one of the best dynamic in the series. Well, let the haters hate, right?

Oh, right, for "Send Fandom", can I ask for BNHA? Thanks, Kiya....

I am doing fine, thank you! For the rest of my response, it's below the cut.

The first character I first fell in love with: Izuku easily became my favorite when I saw just how much of a wild card he was in season 2 (I watched that first). Favorite green boy! Then Miruko came into the picture and she hopped right there, tied as my number one favorite with Izuku.

The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: You know what, I'm giving it to Burnin here. I already liked her, but I didn't realize just how much I would favor her as the story went on. It's not even because I ship her with Miruko (for me I gotta like the character, shipping comes later). It's because you gotta applaud her for even having the job she has. I think about how much harder it is for her to even be a sidekick to a high ranked hero and think "damn, okay, where is her award"?

The character everyone else loves that I don’t: Hawks. I don't hate him, I do like Hawks. But if I had to nominate a character for "coolest character" I would not put him on the list. Dabi also goes here. Again, don't hate the character, but... unpopular opinion, Dabi's "dance" was just him having the energy of someone who thinks he can dance but can't, but you applaud his efforts.

The character I love that everyone else hates: Okay, I haven't really seen hate for her like that, but I actually like Curious! Out of all the members of her group, I found that she was the most entertaining of the bunch. I stand on saying if she had been kept alive, she would have been lethal on the two big fights.

The character I used to love but don’t any longer: Ooh, I don't think there's a character that applies here for me. Most characters I like are still characters I like.

The character I would totally smooch: You already know Miruko is that answer. But I also will say Inko deserves a kiss, best mom. Rock Lock and his wife, they get kisses. Tensei, my birthday twin, best bro, adore him. Yoichi, kiss him, too.

The character I’d want to be like: I actually had to think about this one. Hm... okay, I got it! Here's an unexpected answer. You know that electric lady from the second movie who looks like she could be related to Denki? Her, I would like to be her. I want electric powers. It would have been easy to say Denki, I know. But I remembered her.

The character I’d slap: *breathes in, breathes out* Okay, quite a bit characters could go here. But if there is one person that isn't like "a bad guy" that I would slap without hesitation... it would be X-Less. I'm sorry, his dumbass move of still sitting there instead just picking up Shigaraki's unconscious body, mind you, costs lives! Exactly what was the reason he sat there?! Okay, he destroyed the machine AFTER MIRUKO did so, good. BUT HE STILL SAT THERE!

A pairing that I love: BurnBunny (Burnin x Miruko) undoubtedly. Proud shipper here, can't convince me otherwise. They are dating and then married during and after the story.

A pairing that I despise: So, you know how Miruko and Izuku are my favorite two, right? Yeah, I LOATHE them as a ship. Despise, disgusted by, I seethe being reminded that is a ship people actually like. It wasn't even a ship I even thought of at all until someone commented on my fic asking if I will write an explicit chapter of those two. UH, NO! I actually hate typing in Miruko's name sometimes when I post a new fic because it's one of the first pairings I see.

SEND ME A FANDOM

Like, alright, if you don't think the ending is all that good, that's fine. But folks were making the ending seem like it was like the worst ending of all time. Oh, please! "The ending is rushed." You know what, based take, I guess, but I would want to rush the ending and get it over with because of this fandom. Not satisfied? Could care less!

And I did, in fact, say that I preferred an ending with no ship confirmed. I believed I post about it nearly two years actually!

"The BkDks were loud and forced Horikoshi---" If shippers had that kind of power many other shonen before MHA would have went totally different. If Horikoshi really was "scared and forced" to make BakuDeku canon, they would have kissed on page. If Horikoshi wanted to make IzuOcha canon, on Izuku's side, he would have developed it more. I knew from the very beginning, Horikoshi wasn't going to do the classic "male/female lead ship canon" thing.

A Convenience Store in Tokyo, Japan. 2:56am.

‘And there I was. In the middle of the soda and beverage aisle. My mouth wide open and my eyes glued to probably the most beautiful person on the planet.’

The previously scowling man stood there openly staring at the red headed beauty, who was having a tough time deciding on which milk to buy. He told himself that he was only at the store to pick up a few staple items: bread, milk, eggs, cigarettes, and beer. Placing the last item on his list in the basket, he started to make his way to the cashier. That's when he stopped dead in his tracks.

Ichigo Kurosaki, a twenty year old man was a man who had problems of showing his emotions. He usually bore a mean scowl on his face, scaring many people off, and he was known as a rough troublemaker. Of course, he had crushes in the past and thought of some women as attractive, but he never acted on his thoughts. And honestly, they never kept his attention long. He’ll usually get caught up in his job, hanging out with his friends, or unintentionally beat some jerk’s ass. His friends tried to tell him that he should get a hold on his temper and stop scowling, or else he'll scare all the girls away.

God, he should've listened to their advice. While he was gawking at the oblivious beauty, his heart hammered against his chest, which is a feeling he rarely got. He could feel the blood rushing into his face, and his palms were getting all sweaty.

If any gangster saw the former infamous high school bad boy, Ichigo Kurosaki, getting flustered by some pretty lady, they would be finding themselves picking up their jaws.

Finally, the woman decided on 2% milk, and was heading towards the cashier, which was at the front. Thankfully, it was away from him. But then again, she's inching close to walking out the store, and there’s a chance he’ll never see her again. He became more anxious at that thought and he didn’t know what to do. It’s not like he didn’t want to speak to her, he just didn’t know how. He’s not what you would call a people person and he was completely fine with that until just now. For the first time, he wanted to talk to someone, a woman at that. He just doesn’t know how to go about it.

She happily laid her food items on the counter: butter, eggs, cheese, red bean paste, milk...

Okay, okay. Ichigo, we don’t even know this woman. It’ll be creepy to just ask for her number. Plus, she could be nuts for all you know.

He squared his shoulders, straightened his back, and held his usual determined scowl. Clenching his handheld store basket, he made his way to the counter. And he was there, one foot away from the being that was making his heart race.

"Okay that'll be-" The cashier was about to announce the total price, until the lady interrupted him.

"Oh, I knew I forgot something! I'll be right back Mister Urahara!" She hurried to the back of the store, and in a minute or less, she came back with a pack of strawberries. Her eyes laid on Ichigo's, which made his heart rate to a little more faster.

He nervously swallowed, and tried his absolute best not to coward. But unexpectedly, the red beauty gave him bright smile. "You don't mind if I cut in front, do you?" She innocently said, which would make him say yes to anything she'd request.

"Nah. I don't mind at all." Ichigo moved out the way. She smiled even wider, "Thank you, kind gentleman." She slid back, and placed the strawberries on the counter, and the old man rung it up. "Okay, that'll be $15.48." She gave him her debit card and waited for her receipt. When he gave it to her, she grabbed her bags and turned around. "See ya later Mister Urahara!"

"You be careful out there!" The old man smiled and waved. Again, her sweet gray eyes landed on Kurosaki's deep brown ones. "And thank you, kind gentleman." He gently waved back, "Don't sweat it."

She carried her two bags of groceries to her car, which was a red beetle. Put the bags in the trunk and hopped in the front and drove off. Welp, probably the last time you’ll see her again. He silently sighed but shook it off as he laid his items on the counter for the man to ring up. “How are you, Ichigo?” Mister Urahara, the owner of the store. He ran the store for the past eight years and has been a local for twelve years, so he’s pretty familiar with everyone around the area.

"Ya staying out of trouble?" He started to ring me up. I rested my elbow on the counter and cradled my head. "I can't afford to get in trouble." Then Ichigo released a long sigh, "I lost my job today."

The cashier grunted, "What's this? The seventh job you've quit for this year?" Mister Urahara chuckled finishing up his order. Ichigo rolled his eyes, "Nope it's only the second. Geez, I knew you was losing your memory but I didn't know it was this bad." Urahara chuckled rubbing his head as Ichigo continued, “But I had a good reason this time. He was working me overtime not even giving me the pay I deserve. I even tried to explain why I couldn't work late hours but he ignored me."

"That'll be $18.50” Mister Urahara said.

Ichigo sighed, "Kinda like you're doing to me right now."

"I heard every word you said, boy." Ichigo gave him his card. He swiped it. "Well, I guess it wasn't meant to be for that job." He gave me the bags. Ichigo was about to grab them and head towards the door but the man put his hand on his shoulder to stop him from doing so.

"If you need a job, you could work here. I know I always say that, but it’s the truth.” Urahara offered to him. He’s been offering Ichigo the same opportunity for the past months, but Ichigo gives him the same reply. "Please, old man. Why would I wanna work here? They're ain't that much pay in this job."

“True, true," The manager nodded in agreement and retreated his hand from his shoulder. "But the hours here are very flexible, meaning you could come in at anytime and leave at anytime." Ichigo grabbed his bags and headed towards the door, “Appreciate the offer once again, but no thanks.”

“Also, you get the chance to talk to my regular customer Orihime-san.” He mischievously smirked at the younger man and continued. “Yeah, yeah. I saw how you were drooling over the woman.”

Ichigo popped a vein, “Oi, just because you’re a perv, doesn’t mean I’m one. I’m not just gonna accept a job because of a girl.”

Urahara raised a brow, “Oh? So you don’t deny your attraction to the woman?” Ichigo narrowed his eyes and sucked his teeth, “Shut up.” As he slammed the door.

On his way back to his apartment, it started to rain.

"Damn it, why does it have to rain now?" Ichigo cursed to himself while driving on the presoaked roads. It was past midnight and in the middle of December. He didn't really care for driving, especially at night. He brought a cigarette to his mouth reached for his lighter in his back pocket. A thunder boomed in the background, and a thought crossed his mind. Why was she out so late anyway? A girl like her should be at the house getting her beauty sleep. There's perverts and dangerous men-

He almost choked on his cig.

But it was like fate were pulling them together, as he saw the red head on the side of the road, parked near a lake. It looked as if her red Volkswagen Beetle had broken down, due to all the smoke that was coming from her hood.

In a flash, he pulled over.

She was soaking wet, gripping her phone for dear life. "Please pick up Tatsuki-Chan...." She silently pleaded while on the verge of tears. She didn't like being alone in the middle of the night. The thought alone scared her. But she didn't have any food at home and she had to make the choice to stop to the store after work.

"Tatsuki here! Sorry I'm not at home at the mom-" Inoue Orhime let her anger get the best of her as she pulled her phone away from her ear and threw it on the soft ground. She huffed in annoyance, her beautiful face twisted in a distressed snare. "I want to cry." And she did cry. Her eyes puffed up as she looked under the hood. Her motor was giving off pure black smoke. She should've sold this car years ago but her heart couldn't allow her to do that. She held precious memories with Gumball (the name she gave the beetle).

Now, she was left stranded on the side of a highway while it was pouring cats and dogs. She didn’t even have the energy to grab her umbrella, she was already soaking wet. But then she heard a howling nearby. I should get in the car. Coyotes could be out tonight. But she heard a car door slam. Terrified, she whipped her head in the direction of the sound and looked into his eyes.

Chocolate. She remembers those chocolate brown eyes.

"H-hey." Her voice squeaked as she stared at the dude she just seen at the convenience store. He stared back at her as he casually strolled to the car. He looked under her hood, "Damn, the engine's blowed." He stated bluntly then looked at her face which had fresh tears. His eyes roamed her soaking wet body. He quickly turned his head away from her gorgeous curves as he inspected the car further.

"Looks l-like it." She tried to clear her voice to sound more confident but failed miserably. Ichigo looked at the busted motor with some thought. Moments later, he spoke. "I know a car shop around the corner. They can have your car ready for you in a day." He informed her, as she looked up at him surprised.

He gazed into her honey doe eyes, then there was that familiar pound to his heart. "I-uh got there number. I'll call them for you so they can fill in an appointment to fix your car.” He scratched the back of his head uneasily whilst melting under her gaze.

"You'll do that for me?" She asked the man who was more than a foot taller than her petite frame. He could've been intimidating to her if he didn't offer to do such kind things for her. He gulped but slightly smiled, “With no problem.” She gave him another one of her blinding smiles, making him blush a little. Then ran up to the man and side-hugged him. "Thank you, kind gentleman!” He tensed at the sudden hug and cool sensation. “Hey, you’re wet!” She quickly pulled back and chuckled, “Oops, sorry.”

He offered to drive her home and she nodded, thanking him again. He just waved it off and helped her groceries in the back of his Jeep. He also reminded her that he phone was on the ground. Embarrassed, she thanked him as she picked it up. It wasn't a quite drive after she decided that he wasn't a bad guy. In fact, he was rather nice. Ichigo would think on the contrary.

When they first got in the car, she hit him with a bus load of questions. "So kind gentleman, what's your name?" She delightfully smiled. He put the key in ignition.

"Kurosaki. Kurosaki Ichigo." The Jeep started and he offered her a hint of a smile. Her held out her hand, "Great name, kind-oop. Kurosaki-kun!" She giggles at her clumsiness, and he simply smirked while shaking her hand. He drove onto the road.

"What's your name?" Though, he kinda already knew because of the old man. "My name is Inoue Orihime!" She chirped, gladly introducing herself, placing her hand on her hips. "A superwoman in disguise!" She tried to laugh boisterously. He raised any eyebrow at her antics. Okay, she’s kinda nuts. But what’s bad about that?

"So what do you do for a living?" She freely asked, he smirked while reaching in his box for a new cig. "I sell drugs." He said bluntly putting the cig in the corner of his mouth. He lit the cig amused as he looked her face of shock. "K-Kurosaki-kun...."

"Just kidding. I'm actually out of work." He chuckled and she caught on and laughed with him. "Jeez, don't scare me like that, Kurosaki-kun." He chuckled a bit, “Same question for you. What do you do for living?” Orihime hummed, “I’m a part-time baker downtown. But my dream job is to become a nurse. I’m currently going to school for that.”

Ichigo let out a puff of smoke, “Really? Sounds like you got it all planned.” She smiled at him, “I’m trying. It’s not easy as you can see with what happened with my car.” He nodded his head, “Well, you can’t predict everything.” And she agreed and the car was silent for a moment until she spoke again.

“So, would do you wish to be?” She asked him a question on which he doesn’t dwell on anymore. But he hummed and pondered, “I don’t know yet. Right now, I just want a job that’ll pay the bills.” Orihime nodded her head this time and thought for a moment, “You know, you’ll make a great car inspector. Or someone who works in mechanics.” He laughed at that.

“You’re just saying that because I just helped you out.” She laughed with him. “Perhaps.”

After a smooth, short ride. Which was too short for Ichigo personally. The two redheads made it to her home safely. "Welp, we're here." She announced as he drove into the apartment complex's parking lot. He park in a random spot, "Yep." Ichigo said, somewhat deflated.

Honestly, he enjoyed the conversation they had up until now. Sure, the more she spoke, the weirder she was but it in a wholesome manner. Anyway, he became comfortable with her and kinda wanted to see more of her. But he didn't know how to bring that part up since they were now at her crib, dropping her off. He didn't just want to spring the question: 'Ay, so I think you and me hit it off pretty well. So what about it? Six o'clock at Seymour's Restaurant?'

A pregnant pause loomed inside the car. She cleared her throat, adding to the awkwardness. "Would you-"

"So um-"

They both spoke at the same time. Another pause entered until Orihime broke it with a soft giggle. "You go first." She said, he smiled lightly. "Okay, I wanted to know if we could...um, you know. Keep in touch?" He asked, unsure if it sounded too creepy. She blinked at him.

He shuffled in his seat at her reaction and continued to talk. "I-I know we just met like 15 minutes ago, but keep in touch so I’d know if everything went right with your car and you seem like decent company and I thought- n-never mind. If you don't want to, it's fine-"

Orihime laughed, loudly this time. "Kurosaki-kun, it's fine." She pulled out a notepad and written something on it. After a few seconds, she handed the paper to him. "Here's my phone number. My phone is wet right now since I dropped it. But make sure you text me so that I can have your number.” Orihime handed Ichigo the slip of paper. He smirked, “I will. Take care and make sure not to throw your phone in anymore water due to anger.” She giggled and pumped her fist into the air, "I'll do my best!" Ichigo slightly shook his head. Then her smaller hand was placed on his larger hands, "I did enjoy meeting you, Kurosaki-kun. I think you're nice company too." She smiled sweetly making the guy next to her blush. He fiddled with his collar, trying to loosen the fabric.

"Yeah. I do my best.” Was all he said, as she grabbed her belongings and said her final goodbyes as she walked towards her apartment. This was about to be very interesting, he thought. Little did he know, that was also what Orihime Inoue was thinking.

The old man had just finished counting the money in the register and was about to move to sweeping the nasty floor. He was humming an old tone, till he heard a car door slam from outside.

He didn't pay it no mind until a man came running frantically to the register. "What in the ham sandwich-" He stopped as he recognized the face. "Boy, whatcha doing around here again?"

"I'll take it." The orange head said, trying to catch his breath. The old man squinted at him like he grew a second head, "Take what?"

Kurosaki Ichigo gave him the same look, only with a hint of determination. "What do think I mean? The damn job!” He said as Urahara blinked in shock. Then the owner started to smirk but before he could say anything, Ichigo beat him to it.

“And no, it’s not because of the girl, you perv.” Ichigo rolled his eyes as Urahara chuckled but gave him some paperwork.

“Sure, it’s not.”

I have a request for a Mabill one shot; Bill and Mabel are watching a cheesy romance movie and a kissing scene comes on. Ofc Mabel is swooning but Bill is gagging. Lots of teasing and fluff ensues and maybe some smooches too ;)

'Why do I have to watch this again?'

Bill pressed his lips into a thin line. 'In my defence, no ordinary human should be possible of fitting that many gummy worms in their mouth without asphyxiating.' 

‘Thank you!’

‘That wasn’t a compliment, brat!’

Mabel ignored him, plucking out a DVD from the shelf and spinning on her heel to display it towards him with a bright grin. ‘Tah dah!’ 

The demon remained seated on the large sofa chair, expression one of clear disinterest. When his eyes fell on her movie pick, his expression soured even more. 

‘It’s 10 Things I Hate About You,’ Mabel gushed, shoving it into the DVD player before rushing over towards the sofa chair. She shoved him by the arm, forcing him to grumble and shift aside to make room for herself as they sat side by side in the living room of the Shack. 

‘I can list ten things I hate,’ Bill replied flatly, folding his arms like a sulking child. ‘This movie is one of them.’

The teenager rolled her eyes, used to his antics by now. ‘You’re not gonna get out of this from being snarky.’ Nope, no way. She’d won the bet fair and square.

‘Meh.’

‘This movie has a young Heath Ledger in it, he’s soooo hot!’

‘I don’t follow the same beauty standards as humans.’

Mabel raised her eyebrows, peeking curiously at him as the movie began. ‘What are your standards, then?’

The demon glanced at her, remaining silent for a moment. And as the silence stretched on under his intense scrutiny, her curiosity began to be eclipsed by self-consciousness. ‘What?’ Was he about to point out a zit on her face or something? She was sure she didn’t have any this morning…

‘Eh, let’s just get this over with.’

‘Okay!’ Mabel settled into her seat, grinning ear to ear as the movie began, enjoying it despite Bill’s sarcastic comments every five minutes.

Time passed by and one of the characters proceeded to pull out a pair of black panties from a drawer

“You don't buy black lingerie unless you want someone to see it!” Bianca the character proclaimed on screen.

‘Guess that’s why yours are flower print,’ Bill remarked dryly out of the blue.

‘Wha-’ Mabel snapped her head around so fast she almost got whiplash, face flushing red in impressive speed. ‘How the hell do you know that!?’

‘You threw them at me once with the rest of your laundry when I drew on your pig with a permanent marker,’ Bill replied. He kept his eyes on the screen but it was hard to miss the smirk on his lips as he wound her up.

Mabel felt embarrassment swelling up inside her as she glared at him. ‘You can’t-!’

‘Shhh, I’m trying to watch the movie,’ he whispered, placing a hand over her mouth.

Ooh, she wanted to hit him so bad. She shoved his arm away from her, folding her arms as she tried to refocus on the movie and reign in her anger. Calm down, Mabel. He was trying to rile you up on purpose so you’d end Movie Night and he could escape. It’s what he wanted.

She would persevere, dammit!

Gradually, her ire waned as the movie proceeded. It was one of her favourite movies after all and she enjoyed it. Bill still kept trying to ruin it though.

‘It’s so sweet how far Patrick goes to win over Kat,’ Mabel sighed blissfully, watching as Heath Ledger serenaded her on screen with a beautiful rendition of ‘I Love You Baby’. 

‘Yeah, but only because he’s getting paid to do it.’

‘In the beginning, sure, he comes off as this intimidating and scary guy who is fine getting paid to show fake interest, but then he begins to really fall for her and changes for real. It’s such a romantic story.’

Bill hummed in response but didn’t say anything further. When she cast him a peek, he was staring at the screen with his lips tugged down slightly. Jeez, was he still sulking that he was watching this?

The next scene showed the main pair going on a date and eventually making ou with one another on screen. Mabel swooned happily, clasping her hands together as she watched in delight. She heard Bill making a displeased grunt and she elbowed him in the side. ‘Shut up, this part’s good.’

‘I find no joy in watching strangers make out. Not unless he’s about to pull a spider out of her mouth.’

Mabel’s smile vanished, making a face as she pinned him with a sharp stare. ‘Ew gross, why would you say that? Kissing is nice, it’s a way for you and the person you like to be close and show you like each other! It makes you feel all giddy and happy inside.’

‘Uh huh, and how many people have you kissed?’

She closed her mouth quickly. 

‘That’s what I thought.’

‘H-Hey, I’ve kissed at least two guys!’

‘Kissing your brother on the cheek doesn’t count.’

‘I wasn’t counting him!’ she cried, face red. ‘I kissed Mermando when I was twelve, and then there was a Spin the Bottle game when we were fifteen…’

‘That’s not really an impressive record.’

‘Oh yeah? How many people have you kissed?’ she shot back, feeling defensive.

Bill blinked. ‘I dunno, a handful?’

‘Wait, what? How? You’re a demon! You just said so yourself that you don’t like kissing!’

‘Sometimes I had to play pretend when possessing someone, or there were a few times it worked to charm a human into doing what I wanted. Heh, that was fun. The manipulation, not the kissing.’

Mabel lowered her eyes, grasping at her head with both hands. ‘Oh God.’ Bill Cipher had a more luscious love life than her, this was appalling. Not even the movie playing on screen could distract her.

‘Seriously, this is what gets you down?’ Bill asked in disbelief.

‘All the girls in my class have kissed loads of boys, or have boyfriends,’ Mabel muttered dejectedly. ‘I tried to make a guy up when they asked me, but that kinda fell apart when I panicked and said his name was Elmo.’

Bill snorted.

Mabel raised her head back up, watching as the characters got ready for prom. ‘Urgh, my prom is in two months and I won’t even have a date. Where’s my Heath Ledger to sweep me off my feet?’

A few seconds later, Bill spoke.

‘I’ll take ya.’

She turned her head to find him watching her. She frowned suspiciously. ‘You will?’

‘Sure, unless you wanna go with your brother?’

Her face screwed up at that. ‘No way.’ A pause. ‘But why you? You’re not planning to like, spike the punch, are you?’

‘Oh, I definitely will. But I’ll keep it restrained to alcohol only, no illegal drugs. Scouts honour.’ He smiled, placing a hand over his chest.

Mabel’s eyes narrowed. ‘That’s it? You don’t want anything else?’ 

‘Ya want me to ask for more?’

‘No. But… it’s weird.’ She straightened up, focusing on his face as she looked for any sign of lying. ‘You don’t do nice things.’ Sure he’d been more laid back as of late compared to his original self, but this was still pretty far out of the ballpark for him. 

He blinked. ‘I can be nice.’

‘Why?’

His expression grew annoyed. ‘I already said why.’

‘I want a better answer,’ she insisted, leaning closer. 

Bill scowled. ‘You’re being a brat.’

‘You’re being difficult.’

He clenched his jaw, gaze flaring with irritation before something inside him seemed to snap. A second later both his hands grabbed her arms as he leaned down, nose inches from her own as he pinned her beneath his gaze. She tensed up, her earlier gusto faltering in the wake of his abrupt actions.

‘I’m offering to do one nice thing for you because out of all the morons in this hick town, you’re the only one I can slightly tolerate in a way that doesn’t leave me nauseous and wanting to leap off a cliff.’

Mabel blinked. But before she could reply, he tightened his grip on her biceps and spoke on. ‘You’re aggravating, exasperating, and irritating. I find your hobbies ridiculous and your food tastes questionable. I think you’re annoying and loud and troublesome, and yet despite all that I still find myself craving your company and smiles and I hate it.’

He finished off his tirade with a deep breath, eyes drilling into her. ‘Is that a good enough reason?’ he snapped, face flushed red with anger. Or was that embarrassment?

Mabel wanted to reply but wasn’t really sure what to say. Huh. When she continued to stare at him speechless, he eventually growled and released her, turning his head to look away.

Wowzah.

It wasn’t exactly him listing ten things he hated about her, but it was close enough and oh wow her face felt hot. She placed both hands on her cheeks, feeling the heat practically radiating from her face.

‘Soooo,’ she began, also averting her gaze. ‘You like me?’ She wouldn’t have thought that was possible. Sure they’d been hanging out a lot but she’d always thought he hated their time together.

He grunted, not saying anything.

Mabel raised her head, finding him leaning far away in the chair as he looked at the movie with a sudden intensity she doubted came from his interest in the movie. She shuffled closer, noting how his eyebrow twitched as their legs brushed against one another. Peering at him keenly, she could see him growing more and more antsy beneath her burning stare. Eventually, his eyes snapped towards her, their gazes locked.

‘What?’ he asked, gruffly.

Mabel smiled. ‘I also like hanging out with you.’

He frowned, eyes wandering over her face. Neither of them had explicitly said they liked each other but it was good enough.

Eventually, his expression relaxed, and he raised a hand towards her. She tried not to flinch away in nervousness as he pushed a lock of hair behind her ear. Ooooh, there went the giddy feeling in her chest. 

His gaze darkened and he began to move his head towards her and oh god, oh god, was this happening?

Heart swelling inside her chest, her eyes begin to flutter close as he drew nearer, and she prepared for her third ever kiss. (Third time the charm, folks!)

But then, just as their lips were about to meet, they were interrupted.

By a scream.

A piercing loud feminine one that went through the Shack and cut through her ear drums. Both of them flinched, almost knocking heads as Mabel felt her heart leap into her throat. She looked towards the television, eyes widening in horror as she watched a woman getting chainsawed in half as blood and guts splattered across the screen.

Mabel was the one to scream this time.

So much for her third kiss.

‘My bad, I forgot I did that.’

Mabel glared at him, their Movie Night having been brought to an abrupt halt after that. Bill shrugged sheepishly.

‘I saw the movie on the shelf, and thought it would be funny to record over the end with a slasher film. Seemed pretty funny at the time. In my defence, I thought it belonged to your brother since he watches all the cheesy romance films and then lies about it.’

Ooh, she wanted to hit him again. 

‘Cm’on, it was a mistake,’ he said, nudging her on the shoulder. ‘No biggie. All done.’

‘You haven’t even apologised!’ she cried.

He stopped at that. ‘Apologise?’

‘Yes!’

‘Okay, fine.’ He smiled. ‘I’m sss…..’ He paused, clearing his throat. ‘I’m sssssss….. sooooooo…. soooooo….’ After several seconds of struggling, he groaned and threw his hands up in exasperation. ‘You know what I’m trying to say, right? That’s good enough.’

‘No, it’s not!’ she snapped, annoyed with him. ‘And I’m not gonna forgive you until you say it.’

When he continued to stand there awkwardly, not saying anything, she groaned and turned to walk away. ‘Forget it.’ She was going to go eat some ice-cream in a tub and hole up in her room by herself.

But then:

‘I’m sorry.’

She stopped. Turning back around, her eyes fell upon Bill as he stood there in the middle of the room looking queasy.

‘You said it,’ she mumbled, surprised.

‘Yeah, first time saying that and genuinely meaning it in a trillion years. So I’m forgiven now, right?’ he asked, folding his arms gruffly.

‘...Yeah, I forgive you,’ she said. ‘But, I’m still mad at you. You have to make it up to me!’

‘How?’

She considered it for a moment. ‘There’s a movie at the cinema that’s out. Another scheesy romance one. I want to go see it. You can take me.’ He wouldn’t be able to mess with the movie then.

Bill blinked. ‘So, like a date?’

Mabel’s heart skipped a beat. Oh. ‘Um… sure, like a date.’ 

They both stared at one another.

‘Alright, ready to go then?’ he asked.

‘Uh… No, wait, I need to get changed.’ She couldn’t wear old sweats to a date! And make-up, she needed make-up! ‘Gimme twenty minutes!’ she blurted out before quickly rushing away and up the stairs with a flushed face. She needed to ring Candy and Grenda, stat!

Meanwhile, Bill was left behind on his own.

But not for long.

As a tall shadow loomed over him from behind, the demon slowly turned around to come against a familiar face.

‘So, I heard you’re taking Mabel on a date,’ Stanley Pines said, voice slow and calculated.

Bill smiled brightly. ‘Yup! Don’t worry Fez, I’ll have her back by eleven.’ Wink.

The older man’s face darkened, and maybe making a joke wasn’t the right thing to do but he couldn’t resist! A large hand suddenly came down on his shoulder, the man’s grip like that of a grizzly bear.

‘I think you and I should have a chat, hm?’

‘Haha, Shooting Star’s expecting us to leave in twenty minutes. Don’t wanna leave her waiting, she'd get upset!' he replied, smiling back even as he internally began to panic. 

‘Oh really?’ Another hand grabbed his other shoulder, leaving no room for escape. ‘No worries then, that’s plenty of time for me to finish up.'

🤖- okay so there is more than one answer to this question since I have been in and out for a while before settling.

Very embarrassing, I was 3/4 years old and the second live action movie had been released not too long before. I was staying at my cousin's home and the first scene of the movie comes up on TV... the one where the Fallen was holding a struggling human in his hand and I was... hypnotized by that scene, like oh my good imagine a giant DANGEROUS robot holding you! And I went to my dad (who is a nerd) asking him "DAD! DAD! WHERE'S THAT GIANT ROBOT FROM?" And he hadn't seen the scene so he answered "I don't know... are you talking about Goldrake?" "NO NO IT WAS REAL!" and ge thinks about it for a while and goes "oooooh, Transformers I think". I thought about that scene for months and then never did anything about it because I was 4.

I was staying at my grandparents' house and I was looking for some cartoons and BOOM transformers prime, the episode in which starscream and knockout start a "zombie apocalypse" and I think to myself "ooooh cool characters!" And I keep watching. The moment Arcee and Prime came up I fell in love with them and so I stayed obsessed until rescue bots came out and then there were no more transformers shows on tv

I forgot about it until 2 or 3 years ago. It was summer some friends and I were talking about childhood cartoons and I remembered Arcee. A day later youtube recommended me one of those "transformers prime on crack/as vines" videos and then idk I was consumed by unicron.

I always enjoy writing for Bungou Stray Dogs and am pretty lucky to have it requested every now and again on this blog! I really enjoyed writing these headcanons as I haven’t written much for this character, despite being one of my favourites from the manga! Using this prompt here, I hope ya’ll will enjoy these headcanons for John Steinbeck!

A(rousal): what gets them aroused quickest

John’s actually a really simple man sexually and he’s really easy to turn on, especially where he’s kind of in the prime of his sexual life but hasn’t had many opportunities to actually get laid. I feel he’s really turned on by almost anything that hints that his partner wants him, from small but naughty touches but especially by kisses. Kiss this man, full on, and make it clear it’s not just a sweet little ‘I love you’ smooch. Or surprise him with kisses along his neck because he’s really weak to those and all the blood rushes from his head when you do that to other areas of his body.

B(roken): what it takes to break them

John’s really resilient. He’s been through a lot, living through poverty and with his family always being an edge away from being homeless. He’s been through hell with the Guild. He’s tortured and murdered just to not only to keep himself alive but to keep his family alive and happy and together. So, it will take a lot to break him, but I do think the most surefire way is by hitting him where it hurts and killing a member of his family. If you killed his entire family, that’s it. He’s done. He’s nothing more than a shell of a man and he’ll consider himself as someone who has nothing to live for anymore…which is dangerous, because it means he also has no reason to have morals or a conscience anymore and he will go to the most depraved lengths to see you suitably punished for what you did.

C(an’t): one thing they can’t do in life/refuse to do

Steinbeck does appear to have some questionable morals and he is a little hypocritical in his behaviours. That being said, even he has places where he draws the line. He doesn’t kill or maim for fun and he’s loyal to those he truly cares about. That blind, devout loyalty is actually what often skews his moral compass, to be honest.

D(enial): something they’re in denial about

It’s not so much that he’s in denial about it…because he knows that the things he’s done or the things he’s currently doing are wrong and that they go against all the teachings of his parents and the bible. But I think he rationalizes it as being necessary so much that it strongly hints at him at least trying to live in some kind of inner denial.

E(ager): something they are eager to do in life

I think that, after all is said in done, all Steinbeck wants in life is to be able to go back to the farm, make it profitable, and live out his days living a simple, happy life close to his family. Settle down, expand the family, work the earth…that would be true happiness to him and he is bound and determined to get a chance to do so.

F(itness): how often they work out and what they prefer doing for a workout

John doesn’t work out. He’s not a gym rat, he doesn’t have an exercise routine. His physique and health are the result of hard physical labour and outdoor living, combined with there never being enough to eat for him to gain too much weight. He’s really going to prefer physical labour to keep fit and healthy over any exercise routine.

G(uarded): something they always guard (item can be physical or mental like their feelings)

He always knows exactly what is going on with his family. Even while abroad, he has ways of making sure they’re safe and okay and doing well and he is really protective of them, as much as is humanly possible to be when he’s not right there with them.

H(ell): what would make their life hell

Aside from the obvious answers listed above in the ‘how to break him’ section, I feel like he has kept his family really in the dark about what he’s actually doing and what his life is actually like. He would rather die than have his mother or his younger sister, in particular, ever learn about what he’s done.

I(ngenuity): how clever they can be in tough situations

Steinbeck might appear dumb or slow at times, like a country bumpkin. But that’s okay with him and might even, in some cases, be a deliberately exaggerated act because he really is very cunning. He thinks fast on his feet and he comes up with clever tricks quite easily.

J(ealous): how easily they get jealous

I think Steinbeck gets angry or disgusted before he ever gets jealous. While there might be an undercurrent of jealousy in his attitude towards the rich, there’s more outright anger and disgust for how they live these lavish lives without ever helping those who need it most, for example.

K(iller): how old they were when they first killed someone

I think he made it into his teens before ever having to kill someone. But he has killed and he will kill again, but he’s respectful towards his victims in that he will at least remember their names and will make sure that their families get to bury a body.

L(ust): what they lust after in life

Security. Having grown up in the poverty he did, Steinbeck lusts after financial security, both for himself and the people he loves.

M(aturity): how mature they are as an adult

Honestly, even before he became an adult, Steinbeck had to learn to be mature for his age. He didn’t get to have a long childhood and while he’s a mature individual, I feel like that missing childhood will lead him into some childlike behaviours later on into his adult years.

N(egligence): what they can be negligent about

He neglects his personal health and grooming quite a bit. He gets really focused on his missions and his goals and can forget to take care of himself, missing meals or sleep. It’s only when his body is hitting its limits that he really remembers and thinks to take care of himself if there’s no partner on his mission to remind him to do so.

O(pinionated): one thing they are very opinionated about

Eat the rich. Seriously, Steinbeck has some very anti-authoritarian and anti-government sentiments, as he feels the ruling parties are more geared towards lining their own pockets and supporting the wealthy one percent than they are in making anything truly better.

P(ersistent): how persistent can they be about something

It will really depend on what it is. If he feels something isn’t necessary, but it’s just something he would like or wants, Steinbeck can move on from it and let it go pretty easily. But if it’s something he considers necessary or a need, he will move heaven and earth to obtain it or accomplish his goal in getting it.

Q(uest): what they feel their quest in life is/their main goal in life

At the root of everything, Steinbeck is just out trying to do right for his family and to earn them all a happy, safe life. He wants to do good for the people who raised him.

R(egret): what they regret most in life

So, just because Steinbeck the character is based off Steinbeck the writer’s creations, the Joad family, I do think he also has an older brother Noah who is handicapped. While John knows it isn’t his fault and that he does the best he can by his family, Noah ran away from the family after confessing to John that he knew his parents didn’t like him as much as the other children and that John was the son his parents had wanted. It still really troubles John and he wished he could have figured out what to do or say to his brother to keep his brother from leaving.

S(trength): where they find their strength

I feel this might be really repetitive, but it is his family. They are the root of everything he does, what he thinks about to keep him going.

T(est): something that will test them to their limits

I think Steinbeck can deal with pain, both physical and mental. But isolation gets him really bad. He’s never been truly alone much and loneliness hits him harder than it should. He’s not someone who could hold up to extended periods by himself; he needs at least some contact with his family or some contact with people in general.

U(nbelievable): one thing that they experienced that they still have a hard time believing was real

Sometimes Steinbeck does wonder, now that Lovecraft isn’t around, if he dreamed the man up…Lovecraft truly was something, someone, truly unbelievable.

V(engeance): have they ever wanted vengeance on someone

My god, yes, and it’s on Fitzgerald. The man is not getting off easy if John has anything to say about it.

W(aiting): how good they are at waiting on something/someone

Steinbeck has a lot of patience, honestly. He’s learned patience from a young age and he can usually keep himself from getting too bored or antsy while waiting for something. With some things, he even enjoys the waiting and the excitement for a thing more than he’ll enjoy the thing itself.

X(enodocheionology): (the love of hotels according to some) since they do some traveling, what their favourite hotel was

While it wasn’t his first choice of lodgings, Steinbeck really did marvel at the Moby Dick and all the opulence Fitzgerald put into the modifications on it.

Y(ield): one thing that will make them stop what they’re doing no matter what

Very repetitive and I am truly sorry about that, loves, but it will be the threat of injury to those he loves. It’s about the only thing that will stop him once he sets his mind on something.

Z(oo): how old they were when they first went to a zoo and what their favourite animal was

Steinbeck has never been to a zoo. There weren’t zoos in the area he grew up in and his parents never had the extra money needed to take their children to the zoo in the big city so it’s not an experience he’s had. He did grow up on a farm though and they did keep animals there, with the baby goats being John’s favourite.

I’m a (fanfic) writer also! I love writing but I often struggle with coming up with ideas. I dont have a big following on tumblr (I dont publish my works here), which makes it difficult because I can’t really take reader requests.

I was wondering if you have any tips for coming up with writing topics when you’re stumped? Thank you, I really look up to your work.

Oh this is a fun message!! Ok sorry if i ramble, but i love talking about writing and craft! Im also gonna reblog a specific post of writing advice and encouragement that i adore.

I'd start with what's your favorite sort if fic to write - is it classic multi-chapter fics, oneshots, head canons? Which ones really stood out to you - what were their tropes, tags, the characters? Now, which of those you kind of liked, but something felt off? Was it the prompt, something in the plot, something in the characterization? And which ones peeved you so much you just had to click off - what about those annoyed you?

This will help you visualize what you look for in fanfic, and what sort of scenarios and characterization click with you. If you're writing a single character, that's much easier to work with than say, 10 (or 30~40 .... word to aspiring and new writing blogs ....... maybe give yourself a character limit orz........)

You'll find some characters come naturally to you, wether because they're your favorite or a character archtype you just "get". Some you'll love but still struggle with - I remember being so worried with writing Roose and Tywin from ASOIAF, because they're subtle and more complex. And honestly, I don't like my early work with them ... but I kept at it. You gotta keep at it. Now I'm pretty confident in writing them; it took a while to get there!

((Also I think all writers in general should consider what their strengths and flaws are - this can be hard to pin down objectively, especially after staring at your own work for hours! Think what your favorite parts of writing are. Which parts in your story are giving you that rush of excitement, and why? Which parts are you dreading to work on?))

I think some topics/scenes will jump at you and beg to be written, but it's annoying when you want to write your fav and you're drawing a blank. While requests can be great for this - I've gotten so many delightful ones - you also need to draw from your own creative well. So, how?

Reading other fic is a great inspiration. Don't be afraid to say someone directly inspired you - link to them and mention them! - and build off that. As I said earlier, what if you read a fic that had a great plot or scenario, buuuut you would've done something different? "What if" is a great starter. If you're writing reader insert stuff like this blog, draw from your own experiences in life. Or maybe there was something in the show/book/movie/etc that you really wanted to see, but it didn't happen. What if this character didn't die? What if this major event went differently? "What if" is the basis of all fanfic - besides smooching, that is.

(You can also take a prompt you read in one fandom fic and apply it to another! "Oh i love this reader insert story from Show A, how would my blorbos from Movie B respond in the same situation?")

And on that note, sometimes it's fun to write what personally comforts you and what's your personal fantasy. Requests revolving around family life and kids are easy because I love that shit, and it's something I'd think up on my own without prompting. Lists are great for this - what do you like to write best? What scenarios or characters are you curious about exploring? Brainstorm and make notes! Daydream! Discuss with other fandom friends! You don't have to sit down and chunk out a complete 2.5k+ word fic for every idea. Sometimes just the notes and brainstorming is enough, sometimes you'll wanna explore further.

I feel like most writers will understand that feeling when an idea just grabs them and they have to pursue it. Requests and suggestions are all well and good, but at the end of the day, write what grabs you. That's what you'll put your heart into and feel proud of. It may stay a 300 word drabble or sprawl into multiple chapters of madness, or fall somewhere in between - it's your fic!

Two birds, one stone! Let's start with Star Wars the entire franchise.

The first character I first fell in love with: Finn

The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Cassian Andor. I liked his character in Rogue One. Love his character even more in his show.

The character everyone else loves that I don’t: This is an endless list but I nominate Rian Johnson, who is not a character but sure ruined a fuckton of characters for me in a movie that so many people think is the Best Of All Time. okay.

The character I love that everyone else hates: Genuinely have no idea. Pretty sure this would also be an endless list.

The character I used to love but don’t any longer: I could be real funny and say JJ Abrams, whose handful of movies I watched used to fall under the "mindless summer fun" category, but I think this would be Rey. She stopped being interesting after the TLJ/TROS fiasco and I just don't care enough to pay attention about her future. How do I know Disney Lusasfilm isn't going to waste it like they wasted so many other characters' futures?

The character I would totally smooch: Din Djarin but only because I just need to tap his helmet. No kissing involved, success!

The character I’d want to be like: Cinta. maybe. Her clarity of purpose is inspiring.

The character I’d slap: Sure does come down to between the mass murderer and his mass murdering grandson. I got two hands.

A pairing that I love: Finn/Poe by a country mile and then some.

A pairing that I despise: Reylo.

The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Luke Skywalker actually. yes, he's Mister Star Wars, but The Mandalorian was the show that actually made me sit and think about his post-ROTJ life. we don't talk about the ST.

The character everyone else loves that I don’t: Post-S2 Bo-Katan and every single character that showed up in the Ahsoka show. I didn't see TCW/Rebels and while it would've been nice to watch them, I shouldn't have to in order to understand who these people are in the live-action sequel to Rebels. And what I saw did not make me interested in going back to watch.

The character I love that everyone else hates: Cara. I loved what she represented as a burned out veteran living in the lawless Outer Rim. Fucking shame her actor turned out to be a trash fire. What a shame Cara was just written out instead of recast. Disney Lucasfilm is full of COWARDS.

The character I used to love but don’t any longer: Peli. She got overused and I got tired.

The character I would totally smooch: *points to the Star Wars version* But I would also smooch Grogu on the forehead, my Force baby gremlin child.

The character I’d want to be like: Fennec 100%

The character I’d slap: Gideon, because his S3 endgame is ridiculous. Sir, what the fuck was that? I expected so much better from you.
