An: Nepobabyy! I’m always happy to see a fic request from you because you and I have very similar tastes in men 🤤
For the record, this was NOT suppose to be happening.
You were supposed to be in bed: asleep. You weren’t even suppose to be awake. These were the only few hours that Levi gets to spend in total peace and quiet.
Levi was sitting in the small dining area of the cottage that he, you, and Hange share as leaders of the Survey Corps. The early hours of the morning was the only time that it was peaceful in this house. That's because you and Hange are usually still asleep at this hour unless there's a bit outing planned. The dining area was dimly lit by a small gas lantern that was sat upon the kitchen table, and Levi was reading a book until you came inside.
His narrow eyes flickered up to your frame as you haphazardly stumbled towards the counter. Levi couldn't tell if you were even fully awake or not. He didn't care though — not one bit. His eyes returned to his book as he took note of your messy hair and pretty skin being softly illuminated by the glow of the lantern. He didn't care though. He just happened to notice these things about you. He's observant.
You were absolutely the last person he wanted to see at four in the morning.
You and Levi were like oil and water. You two just didn't mix very well even though you're both captains over the survey corps. Some would compare you two to the sun and the moon, but it was more like you and Levi were two sides of the same coin.
Levi was a man of principle, rules, and boundaries. He lived his life to a strict, tidy schedule, and he strived to make others also adhere to his standard of living.
You were more like chaos. While you weren't necessarily messy or disorganized, you were more spontaneous - living by the seat of your pants constantly.
Levi loathed your methods, and he made it abruptly clear each time he could. As it happens, today he may have went a bit too far with his criticisms.
You were giving a training pep talk to the scouts, talking about living in the moment and letting the adrenaline take it's natural course in your veins. It was a really good talk, until Levi spoke up from behind you.
"I wonder just how many cadets felt that same rush of adrenaline right before they died by a titan exploiting their weakness-" He went on about the necessity of control and utter focus, but you mentally checked out from the conversation.
It wasn't the worst thing he had ever said to you. You two had your fair share of back and forth arguments that usually ended in Hange yelling at you two to just fuck and get over it. But this stung worse than other snide comments. He had insinuated that your methods - your leadership had led people to their deaths.
When you silently walked away from the cadets, walking past Hange like they weren't even there, they stared at Levi with a 'say something' expression, but Levi wouldn't suppress his pride like that... not even if something deep within him reverberated throughout his body.
He hadn't seen you all day, but here you were: encroaching on his peace and quiet, and fuck, he detested the pouty look of sorrow on your face as you were searching for something on the counter.
Your hand finally found what it was searching for: the neck of a whine bottle. Alcohol was a commodity around this area, but Erwin had gifted it to you, Levi, and Hange one Christmas. He wrote a thoughtful note of his gratitude towards the three of you.
The bottle of wine had been practically untouched. Levi didn't drink at all — period. Hange didn't like wine, so that left you in charge of taking care of the bottle.
The cork parted from the bottle with a loud 'pop', and Levi cut his eyes back towards you. "A bit early to start drinking." He muttered lowly, taking the chance to speak to you when you were clearly upset about earlier.
"I wonder how many of your scouts died before they were old enough to drink." You turned towards him, eyeing him down with a look that he's never seen from you. This wasn't just petty anger — this was betrayal, hurt, and frustration.
Levi's finger hooked into the collar of his white button-up shirt, and he pulled it away from his neck as the tension in the room was already suffocating enough. "Say what you mean, or don't speak to me at all."
He knew he fucked up, but he wasn't going to allow you to fire back at him the same way. Unlike you, he didn't let feelings get in the way of his duties. He had it perfectly under control... if you ignored the way his heart was slamming against his ribcage. His stomach was screaming at him to just be a man and apologize, but his prideful brain hated that idea.
"You undermined me in front of the scouts, and frankly, what you said was in poor taste. I don't know what I ever did to you to make you hate my presence so much, but if you pull that shit again, I will not walk away silently again." You turned the wine bottle upwards, and the stout red liquid poured down your throat.
"Are you threatening me?" Levi asks, and he closes his book so he can face you squarely. His sharp facial features were only accentuated from the light cast from the lantern.
"Men. All you hear is the last part of what I said. You never focus on the real problem of it all." The bottle clanks against the counter harder than you intended, and Levi rises from his chair carefully. You scoff with a small sarcastic chuckle. You know that Levi's humanity's strongest soldier, but he's still smaller than you. You have a few inches of height and wingspan on him as the top of your head just barely clears his. Without his ODM gear and swords, he's just a short guy with an attitude problem.
"The problem is you act on pure impulse. You don't ever think your actions through. You're going to end up dead one day." His steps are cold and calculated as he approaches you, and he takes the cork from your hand, swiftly shoving it back into the bottle.
"You should be celebrating that considering how much you hate me." You whisper under your breath — not needing to speak any louder with his body so close to yours. Your faces are mere inches apart, and his hands are placed on the counter behind you, trapping you in.
"Dumbass." He chided lowly, and his eyes flickered to your lips briefly — just long enough for you to notice.
Suddenly, you feel your own heart pounding in your chest. Your stomach twists and constricts from nerves and the wine that was rapidly digesting. The cottage was so. damn. quiet. You could hear both yours and Levi's breaths — neither of you daring to move an inch.
"I don't want you dead." Levi finally adds bluntly. "I..." His words get caught in his throat, and he takes a deep breath to soothe his nerves. "You're right. I undermined you, and that wasn't okay."
Your expression softens as you gaze at him. He's trying. It isn't an apology, but he admitted he was wrong. "It wasn't..." You respond softly before leaning in a fraction of an inch.
Levi's eyes are glued to your lips as you speak, and he bites at the side of his cheek - wondering what you tasted like this early in the morning.
"It wasn't okay for you to threaten me either... Rather, it's not okay to assume so easily that you'd win." His head tilts ever so slightly to the side, and he leans in closer to your warmth.
You tongue instinctively delves out, wetting your lips as he's so damn close to you. The tension between you two was absolutely palpable. "You don't think I'd win?" You ask softly — only to provoke him a bit more.
"Don't be so stupid." His voice drops an octave lower, and his hands find the back of your thighs before effortlessly lifting you up and onto the counter.
You may be taller than Levi, but what he lacks in height, he makes up for in raw strength and speed.
He stands between your legs before leaning in even closer, causing for you to lean back — pressing your head against one of the cupboards. "I can throw you around without a second thought." He lowly boasts.
His hand reaches for the top of your head, and he guides your face downwards to his with a firm tug. "So, I'd advice you not to threaten me again, or else I'll show you why I am a captain."
Your nose is just barely brushing against his, and you feel like you're struggling to breath with his intense gaze on you. "Maybe I'd respect you more if you did."
"Insolent brat." He grits before tugging you into him closer. Your lips smash against his as his hand tightens around your hair, keeping you still as he pours every ounce of lust and longing into the kiss.
Your breath picks up in speed as you wrap your arms around his neck, and your legs wrap around his waist. Levi lets out a small muffled grunt, and he promptly lifts you off of the counter, carrying you as if you were nothing but a stuffed animal to him towards his room.
“Levi..” You whispered between messy panicked kisses.
“Hm?” He hums against your lips, not bothering to part from them a for a second. He bumps his door shut with his hip before he walks to you to his bed, tossing you down onto the crisply folded sheets. His bed is made so meticulously. You wonder how long he spends on it each morning.
“This doesn’t seem like a fair fight.” You muse as you sit up, using your hands to prop up your body against his mattress.
A small barely noticeable smirk quirks up on Levi’s lips, and he stalks towards his bed. His hands are unbuttoning each of his shirt buttons one by one, slowly trailing down his muscular body.
“Well, you’re not even trying to fight back.” He replies in an almost humorous tone as he shrugs his shirt off of his shoulders. The piece of fabric falls to the ground.
“Oh? You want me to fight back?” You ask, cocking an eyebrow, and Levi inches closed to the bed that you unceremoniously splayed on.
“You can try.” He comments before you reach up to grab him and pull him down to you.
The two of you toss and turn, putting each other in different holds and presses. It’s honestly difficult to tell if you two are trying to fight or fuck. It’s probably a malgamation of both.
Except a clear answer is given when Levi is behind you, pinning you face down to his mattress with his hand pressed against your back. Your ass is turned upwards, rubbing against the seat of his pants perfectly.
“Such a brat. Making me work this damn hard for this.” He grunts lowly as he uses his free hand to undo his belt. He makes sure to keep you pinned while he slips the leather around your wrists, effectively binding your hands behind your back with his belt.
Your hips flutter upwards with a small sigh — presenting yourself to him as if you were in heat. Levi chuckles lowly at the sight, appreciating how needy you are for him after a bit of rough housing. He always suspected that you had a thing for liking it rough after many days of seeing your blushing face and trembling thighs while training.
“Filthy girl.” He mutters while giving your ass a firm spank. His hands then find the waistband of your pajama pants, and he tugs them down with ease before admiring your pretty pussy — still clothed by the thin material of your panties. He can see a small wet spot from your arousal already building.
“Levi..” You whimper into his pillow, pushing your hips back further towards him. You were tired of being tough and strong. You wanted needed to just give in to your most basic, primal desires.
“Shhh. I know.” He murmurs tenderly as his fingers graze against your dampening panties. “Let me fix it. I always do.” He carefully strokes your clothed pussy once more before he focuses his fingers against the small button of nerves, rubbing tight circles into your core.
“Ahh~” You let out a breathy whine, completely enthralled by the fact that you can’t move at all. You’re stuck complying with his whims because Levi can just maneuver you into whatever position he wants you in. He doesn’t give a fuck how much taller or bigger you think you are than him.
Your panties are swiftly pulled down as Levi doesn’t think he can live with the throbbing pain of his cock twitching in the confines of his pants and boxers. His eyes marvel at your glistening cunt — so pretty and wet, just for him.
His mouth salivated at the thought of getting a taste, but he’s in a frenzy when he looked at the clock on the wall. It’s nearly six in the morning, which is when Hange normally rolls out of bed. He really didn’t need them ruining this for him.
His hand shoves his pants down, exposing his all too heavy cock, and he takes this moment to jerk himself a few times to the beautiful sight he has in front of him.
You’re bent over, looking as complacent as ever with his belt tying your hands behind your back. You’re rendered completely useless, and even if you weren’t, you’re so needy for his cock that you can barely even function.
“Gods, fuck.. please.. please.” You whine and beg beneath him, tugging against your makeshift restraints as if to entice him more.
His co-captain is such a needy mess. He needed to fuck some sense into you.
Yeah.. you want it?” He asks as he presses his sweltering tip against your drooling entrance. A hefty groan falls from his lips as he feels how fucking warm you are. It’s been far too fucking long for him. There’s no way he’s lasting long, especially not inside your divine pussy.
“W-want it.. yes, Levi.. Please I want it.” You shamelessly beg, even while you know it’ll be a tight squeeze, and fuck, it’s a damn near impossible squeeze.
Your toasty walls grip him like a vice as he bullied his way so deeply inside of you, forcing his eyes to roll back into his head as he let out quiet grunts and growls. He bit onto his inner cheek hard to keep himself from finishing so prematurely.
He’s a gentleman at heart, wanting to pull as many orgasms from you as he can before he busts himself, but chivalry be damned; he wants to pump you so full that you’re unable to walk for the of the day.
“You’re so.. mmmph.. fucking tight… shit... Squeezing me like you don’t hate my guts.” He muses as he slowly rocks his hips back and forth. He grips the belt that’s binding your wrists, and he pulls you down onto his cock harder, literally skewering you onto him.
“Oh fuck! Levi!” You cry out, unable to even filter your noises in the slightest. “D-don’t hate you.. ngh.. need you, want you.” You whine, and Levi subtly smiles from your sudden sweet comments, but he’s not going to let off that easily.
He growls lowly before he lets go of your wrists. His smaller frame mounts you from behind before he takes his hand, wrapping it into your hair, and shoves your face down farther into his pillow. “Shut the fuck up before you wake someone.” He warns in a husky whisper pressed right against your ear.
“‘m sorry… ‘m sorry! nnngh~ so good.. I can’t help it.” You apologized in a muffled whine, making Levi scoff at your pathetic attempts of being good for him.
When your noises are subdued a little bit, his hands flee your hair, and he grips your hips hard enough to bruise as he pounded into you relentlessly.
The obscene sounds of skin slapping against skin echoes in his room, mixing with your muffled moans and Levi's grunts of pleasure. It’s filthy and wrong and so fucking hot that Levi thinks he might actually combust from the intensity of it all.
Your legs are completely trembling, and you’re just so fucking wet. Your poor messy cunt is dripping all over his sheets and blanket, and Levi’s vulgar mind is focused on how he’ll be able to smell you later. He’s already planning on getting himself off to the scent of your arousal.
“Fuck Levi… I c-can’t.. mm.. I’m going to cum-!” You warn in a breathless whine, unable to keep up with the way his hips are brutally snapping behind you.
“That’s all you can take, brat?” He mocks with a taunting laugh before he wraps your hair around his knuckles, tugging your face up from the pillow. “Cum for me.” He demands lowly, slamming himself into you even deeper — trying to push himself directly into your womb with the way his tip is kissing your cervix with each deep thrust.
Not even a second later, you drenched walls convulse around him, squeezing him somehow even tighter than before. It’s the only piece of heaven that a devil like Levi will ever see. Now’s as good of time as any.
His thrusts become sloppy, his rhythm faltering as he dances on the edge of an orgasm. You could feel him throbbing deep inside you, his cock pulsing with the need for release.
Levi grits his teeth together, and he forces your body against his rapidly, making you see stars as you’re trying to cope with your own orgasm. His bed is rattling and knocking against the wall, but he can’t bring himself to care.
A loud breathy groan rips through the air as he finally pumps you so fucking full of his cum. His cock just keeps twitching with ribbon after ribbon. It’s been so long since his last release. He’s sure that the sheer potency of his seed will likely get you pregnant, but he only finds that idea to be even more enticing.
Your legs are twitching as your body slumps against the bed. His cock eases out of you slowly, and he watches with lust filled eyes as his cum starts to seep out of your ruined hole. A small frown occupies his lips, and he scoops some of his own semen onto his fingers before he pushes them deep inside you — fucking his cum back into you.
“Mmmnph!” You whine into the pillows at your back arches back up.
“It’s your own damn fault for being wasteful. Keep whining like that, and I’ll pump more into you.” He threatens as his fingers piston in and out of you at a leisurely pace.
Your head turns to face him while still forcibly being bent over, and you give him a small mischievous grin before letting out another pornographic whine.
“You’re fucking asking for it now, brat.” He grunts as he swiftly flips you onto your back. Levi is a man of his word after all.

Weird Grandpa Dale Story #1
The day started with me digging up cactus. Grandpa Dale had a weird beef with cactuses, bad enough to pay me 10 cents for every pound I turned in. Looking back at it, I think they offended him because they could exist without his consent: They didn't need his water, they didn't need his fertilizer, and they certainly didn't need his permission.
And that, he simply could not abide.
Grandpa Dale had been doing something weird that whole morning. I knew because I'd been able to watch him since sunrise. Every time I took a break from digging cactus to look back at the house, I saw him doing something with the gopher holes.
That made me nervous. Things never went well when he started messing with the gophers. Earlier that month he'd tried gassing them out, and all he got from that effort was nasty looking blisters up both arms. He almost never complained about anything, but he griped all day about how bad those blisters hurt. When his wife suggested that he go to the hospital he said No, what am I gonna tell them? That my trench got overrun? They wouldn't buy that. They'd think I was cooking meth.
Which was funny to hear, but also, true, and also, enough for me to know better than to get involved in future gopher battles.
Which is to admit that I did get involved. But I should've known better. A few hours in, he invited me over, gave me a cold soda, and showed me what he had set up: Two camping chairs, a wicked sharp shovel, a car battery, and a long length of copper wire leading to a pit he'd dug in the middle of the yard. Told me that if I stayed a bit and took a break, cooled down there with a soda in the shade, I'd see something amazing. I asked him if there was even a chance I could get hurt by this "something amazing", and he said "no," which I knew was a bald faced lie. But I believed him because I wanted to believe him. Because I wanted to know what he'd done, and I wanted to sit there in the shade with my grandpa. I also figured, hey, maybe getting gassed taught him a lesson.
(Never, ever assume that the kind of person willing to break out chemical weapons against gophers is capable of being taught a lesson.)
So I sat down in my chair and he beamed at that. He loved having an audience. Then I watched him lean forward and tap the ends of the wire against the battery terminals.
And that's where everything went wrong.
The first thing that hit me was the yard itself. Little bits of sand and grit flying fast enough to hit my skin and bite. It took a year and change for all the little bits to work their way out. But I didn't even feel it at the time, because of what happened after.
I genuinely think he'd imagined the gophers getting launched out of the holes, disoriented but alive. I think that shovel was there to finish them off afterwards. Which also would've been traumatizing, but probably less so than watching each of those cute little gopher holes projectile vomit bloody piles of tattered critter all over the lawn.
Which, spoiler alert, is exactly what happened. The sky fell down, and the ground flew up, and the gophers found themselves with nowhere to go. So they did the next best thing and went a little bit everywhere.
I don't think it was actually silent afterwards, but I couldn't hear shit. There was just this long, ringing period of us looking at each other, then the meat piles, then the lawn crater, then the big buckled section of yard that looked oddly like Rockies just behind us, then back to each other.
I think I did that two or three times before I felt my shoulders start to shake a little. I was crying. Felt weird to cry and not be able to hear it. Like a tic almost, or the way your body seizes up right before you puke.
And then I looked at his face, and I saw him mouth a single soundless word:
Shit.
#Babylon-Lore#babylon lore#this is not the grandpa from the worm story#that's my dad's dad#this is my mom's dad#who was a much more chaotic character#but also lived further away#and thus simply had less chances to be traumatizing#but when he found them#whoooo boy

heyy ray! first things first, i LOVE your writing. that's all i have to say like i literally go nuts every time
sooo this is not a kinktober request and i know you probably have TOO many things to write lol butttt if it's in your taste i'd really like to see your take on the lads man reacting to their lady not wanting to have sex because she hasn't shaved while being away on a mission or something and is feeling insecure about that ig???
and! if i can ask to be the little moon emoji🌙 then i'd like to, please! as always thanks for all the stories you're aMAZING
Hi there! Yes you can be moon anon. Thank you for the kind words! It makes me happy that people are enjoying my work.
Soooo it's actually such a coincidence that you mentioned the body hair thing because I have a story wip for Zayne involving that particular area and hair 😆😆😆 Keep an eye for it btw!
As for the general reaction of the men, I genuinely think all of them are mature enough to handle a little hair and they're not bothered by it. This is how I think this would go.
Sylus: He'll look at reader quite suspiciously. He knows she's not on her period and after trying to get an answer from her, he'll stop when she tells him to quit asking. For a little while anyway. They have a shared home delivery app and when reader makes a purchase later that night he sees all the hair removal products and instantly makes the connection. He'll seek her out, tell her he doesn't care and that his kitten can't be a kitten if there's no hair on her pussy 🤭. When reader protests, he'll pull her close and tell her he missed her and if it really bothers her, she can get a bikini wax tomorrow. He'll even pay for it, but he's needy for her NOW and nothing in his view can change how beautiful she is, hair or no hair.
Xavier: Will assume she's on her period and brings over stuff for her like tea, chocolate, and some selfcare stuff like scented candles and face masks. Reader will be amused at Xavier's assumption and after a few shy moments, she'll tell him in a very vague way that she feels unkempt and that's why she doesn't want to have sex. Xavier thinks unkempt = hasn't bathed and asks if maybe she wants to take a quick shower together. At this point reader shakes her head and admits that she hasn't had time to self-groom down there because of her mission. Things finally click in Xavier's head and he'll ask if he can look and if he doesn't think it looks unkempt then they have should have sex. Of course Xavier gets pussy drunk the minute he sees it and they end up having sex.
Rafayel: This man will straight up pout if you tell him you don't want to have sex. And he'll try to guilt you as well. He'll say you must not love him anymore or that you're hiding a secret from him. Then finally in exasperation, reader will ask him if he wants to fuck a shag carpet because that's what it looks like down there. And of course Rafayel, with his sarcasm and playfullness will say something like "A shag rug for a pussy? I've never heard of such a thing I have to see it now!" And you'll have to show him before he throws another fishy tantrum. When he looks at it he'll sigh dramatically and say "It's not even close to a shag carpet, you exaggerate everything. Now that it's out in the open, let's just have sex."
Zayne: Without giving too much away from my fic...Zayne doesn't care. He's a doctor. He's seen his fair share of hair on body parts and isn't fazed. Also, the vibe I get from them seems to be more of a long-term couple and they've seen each other through their ups and downs so reader will straight up tell him she feels self-conscious about having sex because she hasn't shaved. Zayne will say he respects her decision but removing the hair can cause ingrowns and itching and he doesn't want her to do it incorrectly in order to have sex as soon as possible. He convinces her that they should have sex at least once before she removes it because there's no telling how she might feel after the exhaustion of removing all the hair. You can remove it on your own time but right now he wants you and let's face it, you've popped pimples off his back and he's seen you trimming your toenails, are you really going to let a little hair stop you from riding this man? 🤭🤭🤭

Voicelines about you
Arlecchino x Reader
Includes : Tartaglia, Wanderer, Charlotte, Lynette, Lyney, Freminete, Navia, Chiory and ofc Arlecchino
Note : This has been rotting in my Samsung Notes since months lol
Tartaglia
- Have you heard about the Knaves poor spouse? Sneznayas Darling? No? Well, I have seen them only a few times since they decided to reside in Fontain. Or since she made them, it wouldn't suprise me, the woman is intimidating and knows her way with words, who knows what she did or does with them...
Wanderer
- Who? Hmmm, they usually are always by her side, she had never move them an inch from her, or atleast that was before she had them stay in Fontain. But the last time I saw them, I could swear that the ligth had dissapeared from their eyes. And who can blame them, with that wolf of a wife... hehe, she must have ripped them limp from limp by now.
Charlotte
- The Knaves spouse! Of course! They are a hard catch these days! Not that I could Photograph them though, they're the same as the Knave in that regard. If they are dead? I can assure you they are not! I always see them at the mornings when I run to work! Sometimes alone, sometimes with the Knave, but I only have ever gotten a wave out of them. Such a mysterious figure...I wish I could just get one interview, I even tried to write to them! But only the Knave responded, denying it...such a shame.
Lynette
- Huh, I will assume you got that information from Childe. 'Mother' is...different from 'Father' to say the least, they are gentler, have a softer voice. Though if you upset them, that soft voice will turn solid. I've seen it before when a few of my siblings tried to slack off to much. They are even more strict than 'Father' in some cases, but, none of us blame them and whoever talks bad about them...well...you don't wanna know.
Lyney
- So you have heard about them? Was it from the rumors that 'Father' has killed them? Or from Childe? Childe, really? Interesting. Well, when Lynette and I were younger, we have noticed that 'Father' would treat them differently. Just not in a positive ligth, while we liked them. They were... different from the other caretakers, and so we spun a little matchmaking with the help of Freminete. I remember it all quite fondly.
Freminete
- You've heard of 'Mother'? They are kind, I think. Sometimes...sometimes when I wanted to cry when I was younger, they would pull me aside and have me silently cry in their lap, even let me stain their clothes...they would never mention it to 'Father', and act as if it never happend.
Navia
- I thougth they were dead for the longest time! That was untill I overheard the Knave ask one of her soldiers to deliver the message that she'd need to stay a bit longer and for them to prepare the soldiers. I never meet them in person, but...I'd suggest you to be careful with them too. I don't think a Harbinger would choose their Partner ligthly.
Chiori
- I am not really one for rumors, let us just say that I thougth they were made up, but that was untill they came into my shop just five minutes after I opened it on a Monday. They were very adamant about the fabrics I should use and what they wanted, also having their measurements along with them already. I like customer's that know what they want. How I knew that they were the 'Mother'? The presence of the Knave in front of the shop was a big indicator for it, as for some other clues, like the ring, and the fact that they kissed, and maybe because they called her their Husband.
Arlecchino
- My spouse, of course, I've gathered that you have already heard about them.
What I can say about them? Well, as the 'Mother' it is their duty to stay by my side and support me in my work. They do so quite well. You say that, that sounds as if they function as the 'First Lady' or 'First spouse' in this case? Well, I suppose that's true.
- Oh? You wanna know even more about them? Maybe I should get you to meet them then, they have been asking me if they could meet that famous traveler everyone has been talking about, we could arrange something, just be careful, they have been quite timid lately. But I'm sure you'll get along well.

Okay, wait. This called me out. Scorpio Juno and I'm not against having kids but it's also not a priority or a must for me, and I'm fine with not having any of my own. I love children, just don't have an overwhelming desire to be a mother 24/7. I'm fine being the cool aunty who travels in a circuit giving everyone else a break from their kids for a few days.
I've dated people who had an older kid who was in another country and it didn't bother me, but rejected people who had multiple kids or a very young child, especially if nearby. I immediately lose interest in men/masculine people who talk about me having their kids a lot and women/feminine people who talk a lot about adoption/surrogacy options for a relationship.
But I've never really found the right words to explain why. I've said all kinds of things, like "Oh the economy" "Oh I don't know if I'd be a good mother with my current diagnosis" and "Oh I haven't found the right person I trust enough to wreck my body for" etc etc but none of these felt like THE reason. Even to me. And well, there it is. The root issue. I'd feel eclipsed. It's true. Not in a malicious way either.
I just grew up being ignored unless I did something spectacular and of course, it became harder and harder to get attention from parents or anyone else at older ages as the set of things people consider noteworthy or "impressive" grows smaller with time.
When you spend your entire adult life feeling like you have to work 10x as hard to be noticed 10% more than you otherwise would be? Can't lie, the thought of having children would feel a bit like going from "Maybe I still have a chance of being important and interesting and worthy of someone's attention" to "I have just sealed my fate of being behind the curtains in my own play forever."
I just don't value having children enough to be okay with being ignored/pushed into the background forever. And yes I get that this sounds terrible, especially to people whose dream is a white picket fence and 4 kids in the suburbs. But yeah, life can do a number on your outlook, what can I say? I know several other Scorpio Juno people and we all have a similar attitude towards having children, though never in all these words. Intriguing.
Anyway, I got a little longwinded there, but I'm not even sorry about it. This resonated quite deeply! Gave me the words I've been searching a long time for, to put to my feelings.
Astrology observations 🦩🦩🦩
Credit goes to @astroismypassion
🦩Aries Moon or Scorpio Moon in a woman’s natal chart: can be tricky, because you can end up being frustrated like “I can never win (on my own), do I?”. Other people (the public, but even your own family members) will define you based on men in your life. Your dad and the partner you end up dating. You will feel like men in your life (even those you end up dating) define you too much. To the point you dating them overshadows your actual accomplishments.
🦩If you have Gemini Moon or Gemini IC: living with your romantic partner, spouse will actually drain you and your energy quite a bit. 😬 I think it’s wise to fully think through maybe even having your own space, another apartment where you can have your own alone time or even choosing an option to NOT move in together, but just hanging out in the other’s home or have “sleepovers”. Because sometimes for example, both partners have their own specifics, meaning one likes higher temperature in the bedroom than the other etc.
🦩Gemini Moon or Gemini IC is also the type to consider separate beds or bedrooms.
🦩Another synastry/compatibility hack/tip that I’ve learnt: you will likely see someone’s natal Moon sign as the house that their Moon falls in yours. For example: the person has Cancer Moon in their own natal chart. In your natal chart their Moon falls into your 8th house, so you might perceive their emotions more like that of Scorpio Moon in the natal chart. If it’s a man with natal Cancer Moon, you’d think they really want to settle down and start a family unit. But since they fall in your 8th house, you see them more as a natal Scorpio Moon. There will actually be a reluctant energy to settle down. You might end up seeing them as a forever bachelor, lone wolf type despite having a natal Cancer Moon in their own chart.
🦩Despite the contrary, Leo Moon might actually be the less known sibling. Usually their sibling is the famous one or the well-known one. BUT Leo Moon plays a crucial part in their well-known sibling’s life. They might have financially supported them at some point until they figured things out. But Leo Moon will always feel very proud of their sibling. And the sibling will be forever loyal to Leo Moon.
🦩Having Sagittarius and Pisces Moon also shows you might have a partner/spouse with an age difference, not only Capricorn Moon!
🦩Virgo North Node quite often makes a diet change (going vegan for example) not so much for personal beliefs, but because they battled with a chronic health issue in the past. So it’s not just a trendy lifestyle change for them, but because they suffered so much physical, chronic pain and a health condition.
🦩Scorpio Mercury can overuse or even become addicted to the internet and social media more than Pisces Mercury actually.
🦩Gemini Chiron feels self-conscious that what they do as a job is not really a job. And they hate 9 to 5 jobs.
🦩If you have MC in the 11th house in the whole signs system natal chart, you will most likely do social media or use it a lot for/in your career.
🦩If you have Mercury square/opposition Uranus how others think, do or thank about you absolutely doesn’t get to you or affect you.
🦩Ruler of the 4th house in the 2nd house: you might get jealous of other’s families.
🦩Uranus in the 2nd house in a woman’s chart: the roles can be switched when you are dating/in a relationship. You might randomly spend huge amount on your partner. And how you show your love is “volatile”.
🦩Capricorn over the 2nd house or Saturn in the 2nd house can be “broke” for around 10 years or until their first Saturn Return. But let me explain. Until the age of 30 they live with very little money, it’s not like they don’t have any, they are able to go by with little. Most of it goes towards essential expenses (pay for rent, food etc.) and usually those expenses are higher than what they are making salary wise, so there is little chance for savings. But after first Saturn Return, they really come into their financial stability and are able to grow, build more and lay further foundation, growing their savings too. So don’t get discouraged, things get more stable for you!
🦩Scorpio Juno might not like to have children with their partner, spouse. Because they feel like it takes away their partner’s attention from them and that they become too preoccupied with children.
🦩Sagittarius Moon has a fascination with blades and samurai.
🦩You might often get period after an end of a Moon cycle through your houses. Often when Moon is transiting your 1st house.
🦩You know how Gemini Moons can see their mother as weird? Well, prepare for Pisces Moons, because these natives see their mother as equally weird as Gemini Moon do.
🦩If you have Neptune in the 2nd house, Neptune in the 2nd house you like to watch and listen to those “how to make money based on your natal chart” videos on Youtube or Tiktok. 😂
🦩Virgo Moon and Mars don’t like to be touched (hugged, hand holding etc.), if it’s not known in advance, they like to be somehow “informed” on it or that is somehow planned. Because when it’s spontaneous, it can get too awkward too quickly for them. I think with them in particular is best to be verbal and just announce what you are about to do, like “Do you mind if we hold hands?” or “Can I give you a hug?”. It really eases the tension and nervous energy in them.
🦩I know that for jobs we are always looking at the sign and planets in the 6th house, but honestly check your 2nd house along with that. It shows where your main salary, income will come from, from which field (like Uranus in the 2nd house: crypto, tech job, social work etc.). Look at it also like the themes of your jobs. Neptune in the 2nd house: a creative job, humanitarian, helping or healing other people through food and so forth.
🦩Venus in the 6th house: you tip waiters, baristas etc. and always smile at them and thank them kindly.
🦩If you have Pisces Mercury or Mercury Neptune aspects you feel like you are not showing the real self to the world out of fear of being exploited. You might therefore get a new name once under spotlight that would separate the persona from your authentic self.

I help run a haunted house every year and a few of us bring our more 'spooky' Pokemon to help set the atmosphere. (Ghost types, some Purrloin wandering around ect.) Well typically what I did with my Zoroark back before he evolved was having him set an illusion to look like me or a coworker in costume so it looks like we're in two places at the same time. He got to play with illusions and we got some extra jump scares in. All in good fun right?
The problem is that since he evolved he's been experimenting more with his illusions. This morning, when doing a walkthrough of the house and dress rehearsal, he set some illusions making entire rooms look different and hiding path markers.
Now, this is a pretty big house with quite a few off limits rooms that contain equipment and things that could be dangerous to guests if they were to wander in without knowing. Of course, I know the whole layout of the place by now and was able to notice pretty quickly but I'm worried that, if Zoroark plays this prank with guests present, someone might accidentally wander into the wrong room and get hurt.
He's always been able to differentiate when he's 'working' and been well behaved during those times but he's also never pulled a prank this risky before and I'm worried. Is there a way to make sure he doesn't do that while we're open or should I just cut his act entirely for a bit until this gets figured out?
absolutely pull him from work until you've figured out why he's started getting...creative. to be honest, this reads like territorial behavior to me. these elaborate illusions are how zoroark protect their pack and disguise their dens. zorua are much shier than zoroark, and their first instinct when threatened is to use their illusions to blend in and hide. but zoroark are much more capable of large-scale illusions, and they're more aggressive about getting rid of people they don't like. do you specifically train him to be around large numbers of people year-round, or is this something you only do this one part of the year? does he have ways to get away and take a break? i can't say for certain without actually seeing him to assess his behavior, but just based on what you've said, this honestly sounds to me like he doesn't particularly enjoy the crowds and is using his illusions to protect himself.
in any case, creating random illusions- especially ones that alter how the layout of the house looks- definitely disqualifies him from doing this job until you get things sorted. you're right that somebody could get hurt, and this is dangerous to the staff, the guests, and any other pokemon. if somebody did get hurt, you'd also be liable, since he's your pokemon. i'd get in touch with a professional trainer to see what's going on.

baby, i'm yours
description: yushi x reader (when you dodge his kisses as a prank, fluff)
maybe you've been watching too many tiktoks. your fyp wasn't really curated for couples' accounts and prank videos, but maybe this particular trend was just so popular that it seemed to have permeated onto all sides of the platform. less interested in the prank itself and more curious about yushi's unpredictable reaction to something like this, you put your plan in motion.
usually, whenever yushi stepped through the door into your apartment, you would be ready to welcome him with a warm embrace and a kiss, or if you were preoccupied with something, you'd call out to him, letting him know where to find you.
today, you were in the kitchen, washing up a few dishes from your lunch and feeling nervously giddy at what you were planning to do. "i'm in here!" you yell out trying to keep a straight face. you hear him shuffle around, kicking his shoes off, hanging his jacket up on the coat rack and singing softly under his breath as he followed the trail of your voice.
once he walks into the kitchen, he makes a beeline towards the fridge and pulls out a plastic container of food, the leftovers from when you guys ordered takeout last night.
"hey, what'd you do today?" he greets you through a mouthful of noodles he hadn't even bothered to heat up.
"hi honey, nothing much. i met up with someone from work in the morning and then did some deep cleaning in the afternoon. you should heat that up, or i can make you something real quick?" drying your hands on the dish rag, you reach for the fridge as if to start pulling out ingredients for whatever recipe you had in mind.
"no, no, that's okay. this is enough, thank you though," making his exit from the kitchen, he steps forward to plant a soft kiss on your lips. you knew what he was about to do as soon as he placed his palm on the side of your face, and you looked away at the last second, offering him your cheek instead.
yushi falters, his feet slowing down in their pace. his face is blank except for the slightly confused look in his eyes. he doesn't say anything, though, just shoots you a concerned, but well masked smile as he heads silently to the dining table.
this was already getting too difficult for you, but you reminded yourself to follow through. joining him at the table, you settle into your chair, opening your laptop to finish some work. yushi tells you about the funny things the members did during practice today, and you laugh at his stories, picturing sakuya all too well in his usual mischief. in return, you tell yushi about the new management you were working with for the new project you were assigned to, and how frustrating they could get, but that you were still determined to do well in your role. yushi sits quietly as he takes in everything you say, eyebrows furrowing when he empathizes with your complaints and smiling when you speak passionately about your work.
"should i beat them up for you?" he jokes as he pulls your chair closer to him, thighs pressing against each other. "hah, i wish, but i'd probably get blacklisted from the entire industry," you quip, resting a hand against his chest.
"even so, that would be their loss, you're too good for them," he says in response, taking a moment to look into your eyes before his own dart down to your lips. you muster the strength to look away again when he leans down. this time the kiss lands on the corner of your lips.
his reaction is evident this time, confusion clearly all over his face, and maybe even a little hurt if you looked closely enough. "what is it, do i smell or something? i can go shower," he says, half joking, but half sincere.
"what are you talking about, no you're fine. you can shower if you want though." you hope you're playing it off casually, but inside, you're almost at your wits end, not usually one to turn down his affections. turning back towards your laptop, you pretend to be busy going through an email.
"then give me a kiss," yushi says almost nonchalantly, as if he wasn't going through a million possible scenarios in his head of what could be wrong.
"... mmmh?" you act as if you were too engrossed in the words on your screen to hear him.
"y/n. is something wrong?" you can see his features soften in your peripheral, the concern in his voice resonating between you two. you think you can hold out for a little longer, but when you see him staring down at the ground in thought, your resolve breaks.
shifting in your seat to face him, you duck to plant a soft peck on his jaw. "it was a prank," you whisper apologetically, looking up at him through your lashes. "i saw it on tiktok," leaning forward to kiss him again, this time on the lips. the act is cut short though, by yushi who takes hold of your shoulders.
"..eh? what prank?" his face is no longer one of confusion and hurt, but pure incomprehension.
"people on tiktok were pranking their partners by dodging their kisses. i thought it was funny," you explain, trying to sneak a quick peck in again, but yushi leans back before you can make contact. now, you're the one feeling slightly annoyed, even though you were the one who started the prank.
"i see. well then, i'm gonna go take a shower. no kisses from me today," he reprimands as he gets up to make his way to the bathroom, though the amusement on his face is unmistakable.
"what?! wait - no, i didn't mean it! i want a kiss!" you jump to your feet, blocking him in his path. "i won't do it again," you promise. getting onto your tiptoes, you pucker your lips exaggeratedly and close your eyes waiting for him to give you what you want. it doesn't come though, and when you peek one eye open again, you see yushi smirking down at you, his lips an inch away from yours.
"i don't know if you deserve-" you don't let him finish, reaching up to grab a fistful of his shirt and pulling him down to you. when your lips finally meet, you can feel him smile through the kiss and you can't help but grin in return, not realizing how much you missed this in its absence.

Flirtatious Fate
Rafael Barba x Fem! Detective! Reader Tags: Near smut. Lots of flirting. Barba and Reader almost get caught. Sonny being a great advice giver. Word Count: 6.5k "And what if we are? Would that be such a bad thing?"
It wasn't at all uncommon for the counselor to work overtime.
Rafael more than likely worked more overtime hours than any of the attorneys in the whole building. He lived for his work, so it was no shock that it was nearly 8:00 o'clock and he was still buried in his work with no intention of going anywhere anytime soon. Most of the building had thinned out. All the people who were much better at maintaining a work-life balance had left hours ago - leaving Rafael as practically the only one left. Not that he minded, he could always work better alone.
But he didn't mind having some company. There were a few faces that he always was always welcome to and would always make time for...especially one in particular.
His attention was stolen away from his work when there was a knock on his open door, obviously indicating that someone was there to see him. Clearly, he wasn't the only one who pulled a lot of overtime hours.
He knew exactly who was at his door just by the specific sound of the knock. He wasn't sure how he knew, but he did - and his heart fluttered at the knowledge of the person at his door.
Their relationship was complicated, although neither of them realized that the way they acted toward one another made things a gray area. They simply believe they were colleagues...friendly colleagues at best. Somehow, neither of them really realized that their dynamic came from a much more personal and emotional place.
Nonetheless, he was happy she was there...even though he didn't realize it.
"Come in, detective." He said, without even giving a glance up from what he was working on.
A genuine smile was on the detective's face at the sound of his invitation. She entered the room with a cup of coffee in each hand, her foot kicking the door closed behind her as she entered. She was alone in her entrance, and the fact that her partner wasn't with her let him know this wasn't a business visit.
“Counselor,” She greeted. “Do you have time for coffee and a chat?”
If there was any single person in the world who could outdrink Rafael Barba when it came to coffee - it was [Y/N]. She could drink coffee at any time of day and could put down at least four cups a day. That was one thing they shared - they worked a lot and ran on nothing much pure passion for their job and heavy amounts of caffeine.
Rafael looked at her then, curious and intrigued. He wondered where her partner was, considering she was still dressed in her work attire, which also let him know she wasn't done working for the day.
"Be my guest," He gestured to the chair opposite his desk, leaning back in his own seat knowing he was about to be distracted completely. "What brings you here?"
She approached him, handing him a hot latte that was fresh and just to his liking. As coffee connoisseurs, they had entertained plenty of coffee conversations in the past. He wasn't really at all shocked that she knew his preference in coffee. He watched her from over the rim of his cup as she sat down with her own drink, clearly very comfortable in his presence.
"Carisi is upstairs talking to someone, so I figured I'd stop by and say hello." She said casually, but the sparkle in her eye let him know she had come by for more than a quick greeting.
A small smirk appeared on his face when he caught that look in her eyes. He knew her too well. She was here for a bigger reason. They were always usually very to the point with each other. They saw no reason to waste time when she was here with a purpose.
"Is that so? You came all this way just to say 'hello' to me?" He asked, a hint of playfulness in his normally dry tone.
She shrugged, a knowing grin appearing on her face as she ran her finger absentmindedly around the lid of her cup.
"Well..." She began. "I might have something interesting to tell you."
Now this made more sense. The coffee, the late visit, the giddiness. She was here to gossip - a habit that she frequently and flat out denied that she ever took part in.
"Okay," He nodded, his smirk now turning more curious. "Don't keep me in suspense."
She set her coffee down on his desk, now sitting up completely straight as she used both her hands to talk. He knew she had something big if she was this focused.
"You know how I'm kind of friends with the secretary on the fifth floor of the precinct?" She asked, jogging his memory. "Remember how I was telling you she had been acting strange?"
Rafael's eyes darted around the room as he racked his brain. mentally sorting through hundreds, if not thousands, of conversations the two of them had shared until he placed it.
"Yeah, you said she was acting secretive or something like that." He remembered, albeit vaguely.
"Right! You know I'm not one to gossip," She said, and Rafael had to fight the urge to roll his eyes at that comment. "But she's pregnant!"
Let the records show, Rafael had never met this said secretary before. The only things he knew about her were things that [Y/N] had disclosed to him, but evidently she had shared just enough with him for him to be all in on this revelation.
"No way," He tilted his head. "How do you know?"
"She told me!" She remarked. "I really couldn't believe it. I knew something was different about her. I had to come tell you when I could because you were the only person who agreed with me that something was up."
His heart fluttered again at that. It was purely just convenience that had brought her to his office that night, but it still made him shudder to think she had reserved a conversation solely for him.
"It seems we were right then," He took another sip, his eyebrows knitting together when he realized something. "Didn't you tell me she was single?"
There was a brief silence as she only shared a certain look with him. Her silence answered his question completely.
"Ah, so that's the crux of it all," He said, figuring he might as well fully emerge himself in this gossip session. "So, I'm guessing you have information on who the father is?"
"No," She shook her head. "I'm still working on that one...but I have a few guesses."
"Let's hear them." He encouraged her.
Normally, it would've been so unusual for Rafael to engage in this kind of talk. He didn't rightly care what a stranger to him had going on in their personal life...but he didn't like them the way he liked the detective sitting pretty in front of him, genuinely enjoying conversing with him on any given day.
"The rumor on the fifth floor is that it's a cop over in narcotics..." She took a quick glance over her shoulder to make sure no one was listening. "But that said cop has been gone for nearly six months. I don’t think the math adds up.”
Rafael considered her statement, nodding in agreement and urging her to continue.
"My other guess is a bit far-fetched, but not unreasonable," She said. "A few weeks ago she went home to Chicago to visit her family, and I remember her mentioning to me that she was thinking about paying an old flame of hers a visit..."
"Oh, that's interesting...and certainly a possibility, I suppose." He replied. "Is that all?"
"Yeah, that's all I got," She shrugged. "I am being unfair. I shouldn't be making a conversation out of her business."
Rafael chuckled, shaking his head.
"Well, we all indulge in a little nosy talk here and there." He said, feeling a pang of disappointment knowing this conversation was coming to an end.
“I know, I know. That’s really all I know," She reached for her coffee cup again. "But enough about me. How are things going here?”
He chuckled when she changed the subject, noticing her eyes lingering on his. He should've known she had something else locked and loaded.
"Things here are…as expected," he said, gesturing to the stacks of files on his desk. "Too many cases, too little time." He picked up his coffee, taking a sip before continuing. "But I always manage, one way or another."
“That you do, counselor.” She grinned. “This case has been a tough one…how are you holding up?”
He leaned back in his chair, a weary smile on his face.
"You know how it is." He said, and that was all he needed to say for her to completely understand.
"That I do," She sighed. "After all these years, I've never quite mastered dealing with everything we see."
"It's not easy, that's for sure," He said. "But I must say, you've handled yourself quite well in difficult situations, detective."
“I try my best,” She shrugged. “Some days I wonder if I should've stuck with my college job."
"Which was...?" He probed.
"Bartending," She confessed. "Also a stressful job, but nothing like doing police work."
This was new information to him. He actually didn't know that about her. He chuckled, imagining her in a bar apron, wiping down tables and listening to drunken rants.
"I could see that." He teased, a playful smile on his face. "But then we would be missing out on your skills as a detective."
She gave a small laugh, but didn't respond just yet. They sat in a comfortable silence, the conversation fizzling out before a new one blossomed.
"Maybe I need a vacation." She said in a way that seemed random, but this was usually how their conversations went. They would start on one topic and then end up somewhere completely different within minutes.
He took the opportunity to tease her, something that was also very common for their interactions.
"From SVU or from me?" He joked, the playful banter coming easy between them.
"Oh, never from you, Rafael." She matched his tone, his first name sliding off her tongue like it was something she said often.
He felt a brief flash of surprise when she used his first name, but he quickly recovered and played along with the banter.
"Careful, detective. That sounds almost affectionate." He teased.
She scoffed at that, an entertained smile on her face.
"We work for the law. We hardly have time to be affectionate in any regard." She said, and it was completely true.
"Yet here we are, two busy people making time for each other." He took a sip of his coffee, then looked at her with a more serious expression. "But you're right, it's not easy to balance work and personal life. Especially in our line of work."
“I can relate. Somehow you and my co-workers are the only people I really talk to,” She spoke, her voice soft. “Not…that I mind talking to you. Who else is going to tell you the neighborhood gossip?”
He smiled, genuinely flattered that she considered him one of her few friends.
"I must admit," he said, a hint of jest in his voice. "I do enjoy hearing your neighborhood gossip. It breaks up the monotony of the legal jargon."
“I imagine it does,” She returned a smile. “Maybe eventually we’ll figure out how to balance work and personal lives. Figure out how to do something other than work.”
Clearly they often toed the line between being professional, being casual, and being flirtatious. This was their norm. Everybody who knew them wouldn't even bat an eye at this conversation between them. But what Rafael said next would've raised a few brows. He wasn't sure what made him say it. Maybe it was the late hour or the moment just felt right, but he made a remark that couldn't have been confused as anything other than personal.
"Maybe we will. It's about time we started making time for ourselves." He paused, then said with a teasing smile. "And each other."
Her gaze fixed on him, her eyes slightly squinted as she smirked at him. She wasn't sure if he was being serious or not. Neither of them had ever crossed this line before. They were both aware that this was a new level of comfort with one another.
“Counselor, are you flirting with me?”
A sly smile tugged at the corner of his lips as he held her gaze.
"And if I was, detective?" He retorted.
“Mark me as surprised,” She said. “But flattered.”
They were both confident people...stubborn at times too. There would be no backing down from this. He chuckled, enjoying the back and forth banter. He leaned a bit closer in his chair, his smile growing wider.
"Is that so? You're not going to accuse me of being unprofessional?"
“That would make me a hypocrite. Me waltzing in here and gossiping about my coworker is unprofessional,” She leaned forward. “I consider this a flirtatious and pleasant conversation.”
He raised an eyebrow, intrigued by her words. He leaned closer as well, his voice a little lower now.
"Just a pleasant conversation, hm? You're not going to tell your other coworkers about this little chat?"
This situation was turning and it was turning fast. It had gone from casual to playful, and now they were trodding in a territory they had never ventured to before. This was different, but neither were backing down.
“Not at all, Counselor, if the thought of someone knowing bothers you so much.” She stood from her chair, eyes locked on him.
His smirk grew wider as she stood up, his eyes never leaving hers.
"It doesn't bother me at all." He assured her, rising to his feet as well. He moved around the desk, closing the distance between them. "In fact, I quite enjoy these little chats of ours."
“If we aren’t careful, we might become the precinct gossip.” She looked up at him, eyes sparkling.
He chuckled, finding the idea of being the source of gossip in the precinct strangely amusing. He took a step closer, his voice a low murmur as he spoke.
"And what if we are? Would that be such a bad thing?"
“Well, I would be getting a taste of my own medicine I suppose,” She said, realizing their noses were nearly touching. “Amongst other things.”
He let out a soft exhale, feeling his heart rate quicken at her close proximity. The air between them felt electrified.
"And those other things would be?" He asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
“Whatever you suggest we do to ‘make time for each other’?” She said smoothly. “What did you have in mind?”
He chuckled, his gaze locked with hers. He reached out with a slow, tentative hand, gently tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. The feel of her skin under his fingers sent a shiver down his spine.
"I have plenty of ideas," he said, his voice low and filled with promise, "but we should probably discuss them somewhere more… private."
“Are you thinking private thoughts, Counselor?” She replied.
He leaned in a little closer, his voice dropping to a sultry whisper.
"What do you think, detective?" His hand moved to her cheek, his thumb tracing a gentle line along her jawline. The proximity was intoxicating, and he couldn’t resist the urge to toy with her a bit more.
“I’m thinking a couple of drinks over dinner,” She said, her voice supple and sultry. “Dessert at my place.”
He chuckled, his eyes darkening with desire at her words. He lifted his other hand, gently cupping her face, his thumbs brushing against her cheeks. He leaned even closer, his lips grazing against her ear as he whispered.
"Sounds like a perfect plan."
“Don’t you want to know what you’ll be having for dessert?” She asked, her control getting close to wobbling.
His lips curled into a sinful smile, the double meaning behind her words and the shiver in her voice were all the invitation he needed. He moved even closer, his breath hot against her ear, his voice huskier than before.
"Show me, detective. I’m absolutely starving."
She smiled an awfully sultry grin, her teeth toying with her bottom lip as she whispered.
“You’re looking at it.”
His eyes darkened with a mixture of restraint and desire, a low growl rumbling in his chest. He was losing control, his hands gripping her face a bit tighter now.
"Careful, detective. If you keep talking like that, I'll have you right now on this desk."
Fire was burning between them. Their minds were racing and hearts were pounding with the knowledge of where this was going. Neither cared to try and figure out how this was happening so fast. Neither of them needed to. They just knew something between them was mutual and it was coming out in full force.
He backed her into the desk, the backs of her thighs pressed against the edge of the desk. Her hands came to start working on getting his tie off, his hands planted high on her thighs underneath her skirt. Her lips brushed against his as her breathing became heavy, the two of them mere milliseconds from going at it when there was a knock on his office door and it creaked open.
Both Rafael and the detective froze, the moment shattered by the intrusion. Rafael took a moment to compose himself, his face flushing with a mix of annoyance and embarrassment as he attempted to conceal the fact that they had been just seconds away from being intimate on his desk.
He cleared his throat and took a few steps back, allowing some space between them. They both were quick to readjust themselves, totally coming back to reality of what just almost happened. Her heart was hammering away in her chest, her cheeks tinted pink as she adjusted her skirt. The intruder was none other than her detective partner, Sonny Carisi, who was blissfully unaware that he was just barely seconds away from walking in on his partner and his squad's counselor going at it.
Sonny stepped into the office, his expression serious. However, he hadn’t yet noticed the tense atmosphere in the room or the telltale signs of intimacy that were still evident on Rafael and the detective’s faces. He approached Rafael, his eyes fixed on the district attorney.
"Counselor...we have an issue with one of the witnesses in the case. Can I have a word?"
She was trying to hold her composure, acting like she wasn’t just about to get down and dirty with the counselor. Rafael took a deep breath, attempting to compose himself. The interruption had cooled the heat between them a bit, but the tension in the room was still palpable. He cleared his throat and addressed Sonny, his voice slightly strained as he tried to keep it together.
"Yeah...w-what's the issue with the witness?"
She could hardly stand to be in the room anymore. She was having a hard time processing how an innocent conversation turned so hot so quickly. Rafael had never expressed that kind of feeling with her. They had never gotten that close before. Sure, they faintly flirted, but never so outright before. She was overwhelmed, and now she felt like she needed some air.
“Sonny, you finish up here,” She said, her voice a bit shaky from the adrenaline. “I’m…I’ll meet you downstairs.”
Sonny's eyes flicked between Barba and the detective, sensing that there was more going on than he was aware of. He was puzzled by her shaky voice, and something about the tension in the room felt odd, but he didn’t have time to question it. As the detective made her way out of the room, Rafael's gaze followed her, a mixture of disappointment and concern etched on his face as she left.
Rafael had never shared that kind of moment with her. To be honest, he wasn’t sure where it had come from. Sure, he liked her and favored her, but he had never made a move on her before. But in all fairness, she had never reciprocated quite like that.
Rafael couldn’t deny that the moment with her had been explosive, a spark igniting between them that he hadn’t expected. He had always liked her, but this was a whole different level of attraction. Her response to him had triggered a deep, intense desire that he couldn’t ignore. As Sonny continued to talk, Rafael struggled to focus on the conversation, his mind going back to the moment they had shared just moments before.
He just wanted to help Sonny and get him out of his office so he could handle this. But of course, Sonny always needed to know everything.
“Is…everything alright between you and her, Counselor?”
Rafael flinched, snapped out of his thoughts by Sonny's question. He blinked a couple of times and cleared his throat, trying to hide his preoccupation.
"Yeah, everything's just fine, Carisi," he said, his tone a little guarded. "Why do you ask?"
“I’ve never seen her run out like that. Especially when you’re around,” Sonny remarked.
Rafael shifted uneasily in his chair as he sat down, the observation not being lost on him. He tried to play it off as nonchalantly as possible.
"I suppose she just had something to take care of. She seemed… in a hurry." He said, his words sounding unconvincing even to him.
Sonny didn’t believe him. He knew his partner, and he could tell when someone was lying. Something had happened in this office before he came in.
Rafael realized that Sonny wasn’t buying his response, and he silently cursed himself for not being more convincing. The air in the room felt heavy, and he knew he had to change the subject or risk further questioning.
"Is there anything else you needed to discuss regarding the case, Detective Carisi?" Rafael asked, trying to sound as impassive as possible.
Sonny caught the way Rafael changed the subject. He wasn’t getting anything from Rafael, so he decided to try his partner, who was downstairs waiting for him.
“No...alright…” Sonny said. “We’ll…we’ll be in touch.”
Rafael nodded, a slight look of relief on his face as Sonny seemed to accept the change in topic. As Sonny turned to leave, Rafael couldn’t help but feel a pang of worry about what might happen once he spoke to the detective.
He took a deep breath, trying to gather his thoughts, but his mind was still buzzing from the encounter that had just taken place, and the uncertainty of what would happen next gnawed at him. Sonny wasted no time getting to the elevator, taking it to the ground floor. Sure enough, she was standing just outside on the sidewalk, her hand resting over her chest as she took slow deep breaths of the cold New York air.
She let the cold air of New York City fill her lungs, the chill helping to clear her mind. She tried to steady her rapid heartbeat, still shaken by the intensity of the moment she and Rafael had shared. The thought of what might have happened if Sonny hadn’t walked in sent a shudder down her spine. What was she thinking?
She was so distracted by her thoughts that she didn’t notice Sonny approaching until he was standing beside her.
“Sonny.” She nearly gasped, her heart lurching in surprise.
Sonny chuckled at her reaction and raised an eyebrow, a sly smile on his face.
"Whoa, easy there. You almost jumped out of your skin." he teased, trying to lighten the mood.
“I’m sorry, you scared me.” She sighed. “Are you ready to go?” She gestured toward the SVU car they had taken.
Sonny nodded, and as they headed toward the car, he shot her a sideways glance, curious about what had just transpired upstairs.
He wasn’t a detective for nothing, and he could sense that there was more to the story. Something was off, especially given her demeanor and the flushed look on her face.
She slid into the passenger seat, feeling a bit less shaky now that she had a few minutes to calm down. Her mind was still reeling, but she didn’t feel like she was going to pass out anymore.
Sonny walked around the car and got behind the wheel, his gaze flickering to her every now and then. As they started driving, he decided to go for it and ask the question that had been on his mind since he walked in on his partner and the Counselor.
"So, what was that all about? You left his office looking like you’d seen a ghost." He said.
She took a subtle deep breath, trying to center herself for a round of questioning that was no doubt coming.
“It was nothing really,” She responded as coolly as possible. “I’m just tired, I think. I just needed a second to gather myself.”
Sonny gave her a skeptical look, her response only adding to his suspicion. She was obviously trying to brush it off, but he was not convinced.
"Come on. You know I wasn’t born yesterday," he said, his tone laced with mild irritation. "Something happened up there."
“I don’t know what you’re talking about…” She said, reaching for her phone that vibrated in her pocket.
As she checked her phone, Sonny gave her a knowing look. He could sense that she was dodging the question, and it only fueled his suspicion further.
"Oh, really? Then why won’t you look me in the eye?" he asked, his voice a bit challenging now. "Who’s sending you text messages, huh? The Counselor?”
Her heart dropped, because despite the fact that Sonny’s question was a joke — he was right. She stared at the text message that had just come in from Rafael.
A sly smile crept onto Sonny's face as he spotted the change in her expression, a clear indication that he hit a sore spot.
"Bingo," he said, his tone dripping with smugness. "That’s what I thought. What did he say?"
Sonny glanced at her, his curiosity piqued. He could tell she was reading a text message, but he couldn’t see what it said.
"So, are you planning to share that text with me, or are you just going to keep me in suspense?" he said, his voice filled with playful annoyance.
She didn't even really mean to, but she read the text out loud for herself and Sonny to hear.
Call me when you can. Please.
Sonny raised an eyebrow, a smirk spreading across his face. He couldn’t help but feel a little amused by the situation.
"‘Please?’" he repeated, a hint of mockery in his voice. "Sounds like the counselor is desperate to talk to you."
Sonny had her cornered, and she knew it. There was no getting anything past Sonny, especially since they worked so closely every single day.
“Sonny..." She whined, knowing he was more on to her than she realized.
Sonny chuckled at her response, thoroughly enjoying the teasing. He knew he had her now.
"Come on," he said, feigning innocence. "Don’t sound so surprised. I’ve seen the way you two look at each other when you think no one’s watching."
“Now I really don’t know what you’re talking about,” She huffed. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
Sonny took his eyes off the road for a moment to shoot her a sidelong glance, a knowing smile on his lips.
"Oh, please. You really think you’re discreet?" he said. "The tension between you two is so thick, a blind man could see it."
She rubbed her eyes stressfully, unsure of how to respond to Sonny, and even more unsure of how to proceed with Rafael. Seeing her stressed out, Sonny’s playful tone softened slightly. While he enjoyed teasing her, he could see that the situation was weighing on her.
"Hey, relax," he said, throwing her a gentle smile. "It’s just me, alright? You can talk to me, you know?"
“No, I can’t…” She sighed. “Not about this.”
Sonny’s smile faded slightly at her response. He could tell that whatever had happened in Rafael’s office was more serious than he initially thought. It wasn’t just some harmless flirtation between her and the district attorney. He cleared his throat and spoke with a more serious tone now.
"Why not? Come on. You and I have been friends for a long time, haven’t we? You can trust me."
“I trust you,” She said. “It’s not that, it’s just…complicated.”
Sonny furrowed his brow, his interest piqued even further. The way she said ‘complicated’ made it clear that there was more to this than he initially thought. He knew there was something she was holding back, but he wasn’t going to let it go that easily.
"Complicated, huh? In what way?" he asked, his voice calm but filled with genuine curiosity.
At this point, she knew Sonny wasn’t going to let this go. Sonny could keep a secret better than anyone, so she figured she might as well give it up. She told him the story, leaving out a few graphic details, but she told him enough for him to get the picture.
Sonny listened intently as she spoke, his expression stoic as he absorbed the details of what had transpired between her and Rafael. He didn’t say a word as she recounted the encounter, his gaze steady on the road ahead of them.
When she finished her story, he was silent for a moment, considering everything that had been said. Then, he spoke up, keeping his voice neutral.
"So, let me get this straight. You and the Counselor got hot and heavy in his office, but things got interrupted, and now you don’t know what to do next?"
“That about sums it up,” She sighed again. “If we had gone all the way…I don’t even know. I don’t know where to go from here and I don’t know if I can ever work with him again…”
Sonny exhaled softly, his jaw tensing slightly. He hadn’t been expecting it to be that serious. He could sense the internal struggle she was having and understood her confusion. He knew it wasn’t easy, juggling personal feelings and professional responsibilities.
"Whoa, whoa. Hold on," he said, trying to get a grip on the situation. "First of all, it didn’t go that far. Nothing…happened, right?"
“It was close,” She admitted. “But no. Sonny, Olivia will kill me if she finds out. She would flip if she found out I got cozy with the counselor…”
Sonny nodded slowly, processing her words. The fact that she was worried about Olivia’s reaction spoke volumes about how seriously she was taking this. He respected her devotion to the job, and he knew how highly her superiors thought of her.
"Okay, first of all, Olivia’s not going to ‘kill’ you. Besides, this isn’t exactly the first time a relationship has happened between coworkers."
“Yeah, but it’s different. It’s…me. You know how she is with me. I’m the youngest on the squad,” She took a deep breath. “If she knew Rafael made a move on me…”
Sonny could see the weight of the situation pressing heavily on her. He understood her concerns.
"I get that you don’t want to disappoint her," he said in a reassuring tone. "The thing is, this whole thing with Barba…you didn’t exactly pursue him, right? He’s the one who made a move. And as far as I can tell, it sounds like it was completely out of the blue for you."
“It…wasn’t really out of the blue,” She confessed. “I mean, I didn’t go in there expecting what happened but…like you said we’re pretty…flirtatious. And I didn’t push him away.”
Sonny chuckled slightly at her confirmation that she hadn’t exactly shut down whatever had been going on between her and the Counselor. He knew they’d had a spark.
“So, let me get this straight: you and Barba have been flirty with each other for a while, and eventually, things got heated in his office. Is that about right?”
Sonny nodded when she confirmed it, the situation starting to make more sense to him now.
"And now you don’t know what to do because you’re worried about your job, your relationship with Olivia, and whatever might happen next with Barba?”
“Right,” She replied. “It happened so fast…I don’t know how I got here.”
Sonny chuckled softly as he listened to her concerns.
"You got here, because you and Barba have chemistry," he said bluntly. "The question is, what are you going to do about it?"
“I don’t know what to do about it,” She read the text from Barba again. “How do you even move forward from something like this?”
Sonny shot her a sympathetic glance, understanding her anxiety.
"Hey, it sounds like you’re feeling a bit out of your comfort zone here, and that’s alright." He said reassuringly. "You’re usually more reserved, and this situation’s a bit more intense than you’re used to. But that’s not necessarily a bad thing. It could mean that something about Barba really does it for you."
“Yeah, I could’ve told you that. I guess I need to respond,” She stared at her phone. "He wants me to call him later. So he will probably reject me and tell me it was a mistake and it never should’ve happened and then things will be awkward and then I’ll have to leave SVU and then I’m back to making traffic stops-“
Sonny reached over and grabbed her arm firmly, stopping her mid-rant. He chuckled slightly at her panicked ramblings.
"Slow down there," he said, a hint of amusement in his voice. "Take a deep breath. You're getting way ahead of yourself."
“Maybe…” A smile appeared on her face without realizing it. “I’ll just…tell him I’ll call him when I can.”
Sonny chuckled along with her, enjoying the lighter tone of the conversation. He was glad to see that his teasing had lifted her spirits, at least a little bit.
"Hey, you never know," He said with a shrug and a smirk. "Stranger things have happened. Maybe Barba’s completely smitten with you and can’t wait to see you again."
“Alright, alright…” She replied. “One step at a time. Let’s finish this workday.”
Sonny chuckled at her response, sensing her determination to get through the last couple hours of their long workday and not let the situation with Barba consume her. He nodded in agreement.
"You got it," he said, his tone back to business. "I've got your back, no matter what happens next."
___
They returned to the precinct, tying up their loose ends for the day so they could get the day finished. She tried to put Rafael in the back of her mind. She just needed to get through her shift and then go from there. She hoped she would feel better once she and Rafael talked, no matter what the outcome was.
Sonny shot a few glances at her, sensing her attempt to keep her mind off the situation with the Counselor. He knew she was struggling to focus on work when her mind was preoccupied.
As the day came to an end, Sonny casually looked down at his watch and spoke up.
"You know, we're just about done for the day. You…uh…have plans for the rest of the night?"
She gave him a look.
“I’m going to call him as soon as I leave,” She said. “If he’s still at his office, I might swing by.”
Sonny gave her a reassuring pat on the shoulder, his eyes filled with genuine concern.
"You're gonna handle this, one way or another." he said, his voice firm and steady.
“Okay,” She nodded. “I’ll text you when it’s over.”
Sonny waved her goodbye, and she didn't waste any time getting out of the precinct. She dialed Rafael's number on the way out of the building.
The phone rang a few times before the familiar voice of Rafael Barba answered on the other end.
“Hey.” His tone was calm and composed.
“Counselor.” She greeted as calmly as she could.
There was a hint of surprise and relief in Rafael's voice as he recognized her on the other end of the line. He had been hoping she would call.
"I wasn’t sure if you’d call." He said plainly.
“Of course I did,” She let out a silent sigh. “Are you…still at your office?”
There was a slight pause before Rafael responded, the anticipation heavy in his voice.
"Yes," he replied. "Do you…want to come by?"
Her heart fluttered, there really was no turning back.
“Yeah, I figured I would come by so…we could talk. I can be there in 20 minutes…”
They sorted out the details before the call ended, and she knew this was going to either be a pleasant or brutal talk. She knew she might be losing one of her best friends by the end of the night. She had never felt more unsure, but she couldn't even deny that maybe she was curious to see how this developed...if it developed at all.
Her mind raced as she made her way to Rafael's office. She thought of every possible outcome in this scenario...the best case, the worst case, and everything in between. She felt the knot of anxiety in her stomach getting heavier by the minute. She laid eyes on her destination and knew it was now or ever. She needed to compose herself and pull it together. She wanted to walk out of this situation with him still an important part of her life.
The building was closed down for the night, all the offices dark and closed...except for his. It was now or never. If there was ever a moment where she felt like she was about to seal her fate...it was right now.
She took the elevator to the floor of his office, her brain actively controlling her breathing to be as calm and slow as possible. Her heart was pounding away, and she wasn't sure if it was the nerves or the knowledge of seeing him again after what had happened.
His office door was closed, but a glow of light was shining from behind the closed blinds on his windows and under the door. She gave a light knock on the door, a slow exhale escaping her as she waited for him to answer.
She heard some shuffling from behind the door, knowing he was undoubtedly trying to quickly straighten up his desk before he allowed her inside. A few seconds passed before he opened the door -- his tired eyes meeting hers with the same look of anxiety and curiosity of what was about to happen. There was no turning back now, and they both felt like they were prepared.
But little did they know, their night was about to get far more interesting than they planned for.

yeah, we compared but after break up saying things like "thankfully we aren't treated this way anymore" or "wow so it's normal that this happens? somebody can treat me so well?" (if she read she could get angry but she should rethink her behavior and learn a lesson or just understand this is how we felt) but not during a new relationship towards new gf because it's hurtful, still we sometimes missed things about ex and our new gf been aware but it's not like we talked about it, just... felt it and maybe she was noticing but at times just been telling stories as good memories or simply asked her if she could do something with us that we enjoyed (without adding with whom, just in general) but not always she was into that herself so we didn't do that obviously yet we always wondered if just mentioning that could make her feel like she's not enough or she was trying to be different to please us :(
that's why we learned to reassure a person they don't have to do something but honestly some things we require or we're leaving now as it seems we simply don't match
our host also is worrying constantly that she makes her family feel bad about their interests but pretending you like something and hearing about shit all day long you don't wanna isn't something she has to go through, she tries anyway and it's also HOW you tell a person that it's something you aren't into smth, also I hate the fact ppl tend to force their hobbies on you when they know it is crossing someone's boundaries as they remind you they hate it, we're sorry if we ever did that but having our past partner everything felt this way somehow ugh...
we also been accused for being passive agressive when we weren't actually, it was either tact or us being ashamed/unassertive to say that we have an issue and I have no idea why someone thought it's THIS, yeah, sure, we can be sarcastic but it rarely happens - when someone deserves it for being an asshole, we tried to recall any moment we could be passive agressive and I could call few things this way after someone abused us first (less than five times for BOTH relationships), being open about things resulted with the same response so why would we even try? nothing we did was ok as obviously we were there to pretend everything is fine :)
yep, as I mentioned we pressured S. to do things she didn't want to do because a) she was depressed and we thought we're helping her get out of bed b) we thought she is shy c) she was saying she will change/do it later etc so we were reminding her and it looked like pressuring, also been worried what is wrong with her but she was explaining it will pass as well so when we realised it won't then we gave up to not change her and apologised later bunch 'o times saying she doesn't have to be this way d) some situations happened we felt like she should do something we considered normal which maybe for her wasn't, it was hard to understand that and get to the point we're not a match then but honestly as I said it was a situation when we felt like she wouldn't do ANYTHING probably
so yeah, we aren't perfect and maybe I make excuses for us but we feel guilty anyway for trying to influence her anyhow even slightly even if we thought it's for greater good (her baby for example or herself) or we felt like we aren't getting enough from her (because srsly laying down all day without saying a word isn't something I'd call a good relationship so why wouldn't I ask her to go somewhere ONCE? is that so bad?...)
the rest on the list? it was happening to us coming from first ex - basically all of it
from the other? not really besides boundaries and having a worse time, raining on parade happend at least once but it wasn't an everyday matter, forcing is smth we are unsure of to this day (it's complicated)
most importantly no one ever took responsibility for their mistakes, maybe they tried to fix their own life but it doesn't fix mine that much especially when we are not in conctact anymore but happy if they are less toxic now
from the second list:
You are anxious to tell them if they cross a boundary or upset you - always
You withhold telling them the real truth about things. You might be worried they can't be trusted with the information, or that they might use it against you - it was more after break up but with time it was like this about everyone due to both girfriends actions and not only
You feel trapped or like you have to be their friend - yes to the breaking moment
You feel completely drained by them - so much we've ended up in hospital or had to separate/cut them off completely
we didn't imagine that and even tho we made mistakes too we try to be better
Pink
*could add to the list, plenty actually...
hello, do you have resources on recognizing whether or not you're in an abusive/toxic friendship?
I don't, but here's some red flag thoughts I had.
If you try and talk about something they've done that upset you/bothered you, and they turn around and make you feel bad. This might be done by them going "oh, I'm such a terrible person. You shouldn't be friends with me."
They only talk to you or initiate contact if they want something from you.
They "jokingly" say mean things about you.
They compare you to other people. It might be things like "oh, well, so-and-so would do this for me."
They make you feel guilty for having boundaries.
If you're having a bad time, they need to be having a worse time. Nothing can be about you, and the attention always has to be drawn back to them.
They make you feel bad about your interests. "Oh, damn, I guess not everyone has good taste in music.
Constant negativity. They are constantly "raining" on your parade if you're happy about something. Example: You are super happy because you had a great time with your dad. You rave to them about this, and their response is "wow, it must be nice. My dad and I have a terrible relationship." While their feelings are valid, it's really inappropriate if they feel a constant need to bring you down whenever you're happy.
You can't rely on them for support. While it's valid for people to have limits and not be able to provide support all the time because of their own mental health, it isn't okay if a relationship is one-sided and you offer support and they never do.
When you have arguments, they got for "low blows" rather than trying to resolve the conflict. This might mean they scream at you, or throw insults at you, or throw past mistakes in your face.
No one is perfect, and it's understandable that people slip up sometimes and make mistakes. Lash out even. But they should hold themselves accountable for these mistakes, and not make you feel bad for being upset. They also shouldn't laugh off or be dismissive of their own behaviour.
Being passive aggressive.
They pressure you into doing things you don't want to do.
A lot of this falls under manipulation, and I wrote an article about it here.
I want to bring up that nuance is really important. For example: my best friend and I regularly "roast" each other and genuinely find it amusing. But there are certain topics that are off limits, and we'd never do this if it genuinely upset the other.
Obviously, again nuance is important. Sometimes these bad feelings come up for our own reasons and aren't necessarily the other person's fault, but here are some thoughts I had on things you might be feeling if a friendship isn't right for you.
You feel relieved if plans are cancelled.
You feel a feeling of dread when you see a message from them.
You are anxious to tell them things like really good news because they might make you feel bad about it. Or even really bad news, because they might try and compete with you.
You are anxious to tell them if they cross a boundary or upset you.
You withhold telling them the real truth about things. You might be worried they can't be trusted with the information, or that they might use it against you.
You feel trapped or like you have to be their friend.
You feel completely drained by them. Maybe it's hearing their name, seeing their name, or just being around them.
Sorry, I rambled, but hopefully there's something helpful here!

As soon as the calendars mark the start of October, the people of Sumeru begin preparations for their cherished tradition: the Sabzeruz Festival, a celebration honouring their beloved archon. Sumeru’s City streets and squares are adorned with vibrant decorations, fragrant flowers and colourful lanterns light up the bustling markets. Music can be heard everywhere as musicians practice for the grand performance on the day of the archon’s birthday.
And you? You’re in charge of dressing up Gandharva Ville instead of Tighnari, as he’s on the committee related to the Parade. Thanks to your position as his partner, all forest rangers are eager to help whatever vision you wish to bring to life. To them, it’s somewhat refreshing to be under the guidance of someone else other than their resident Valuka Shauna.
Currently, your beloved partner is out assisting with yet another brilliant idea of the equally brilliant Madame Faruzan and Kaveh. With no commissions relating to Sumeru’s ecosystem to be done by your friends, the time to decorate the tiny city comes. In all fairness, you all want to get done with it as soon as possible — flora-related issues can pop up out of nowhere… and you promised Tighnari not to over-extort your body.
With the help of Collei, who is surprisingly joining you in the decorating process, you split the tasks among the rangers, assigning each of them to different areas of the village: some will gather additional flowers, others will craft garlands, and a few will set up the lanterns. In your mind, you can envision the vibrant flora adorning the trees and houses, illuminating the Ville like a shimmering and colourful garden.
At first, everything goes smoothly, allowing you and the younger girl to assist each group in completing the tasks. The garland-making process is by far the most time-consuming, requiring much precision and some “aesthetic” knowledge. The longer it goes, the more and more people join in creating said wreaths, taking over for people tired and with hurt friends.
As time goes on and on, it gets relatively close to the time Tighnari is supposed to return from Port Ormos. By this point, you’re hanging up the flowery decorations on the trees, balancing on a ladder. Unlike the early morning, people now scatter chaotically. Everyone is hurrying up to finish their part, wanting Tighnari to witness Gandharva Ville in its most beautiful state. With everyone being everything but organised, concentrating on getting the job done is less than easy. Now you have to put up with people knocking into you on accident, messing up your balance.
Just as you’re about to secure another garland, a murmur spreads through the crowd. The word is that Tighnari has been sighted approaching the Ville. This news sends a ripple of excitement — and panic — through everyone. Collei, standing nearby, shoots you a wide-eyed glance before you break into a grin.
“Alright, everyone!” You call out, clapping your hands to draw people’s attention. “Let’s finish strong so Tighnari can see the full splendour of our hard work!”
In the rush that follows, people are hurrying to put the finishing touches on the decorations. Rangers are darting back and forth, carrying last-minute additions and adjusting already hung to ensure everything looks flawless. You return your focus to your task, carefully tying the last garland to a branch, breathing steadily to keep your balance despite the chaotic movement below.
But as you’re about to tie off the final knot, someone below bumps into the ladder, sending it into a wobble. It sways beneath you, throwing you off balance. Your hand instinctively reaches out to grab something, anything, to steady yourself, but there’s nothing within reach. Your heart is pounding as you brace for a fall, feeling the world tilt as the ladder tips further.
As there’s nothing to catch you… you have an unfortunate meeting with the ground. You can feel something breaking, as you’re knocked out. Darkness envelops you, swallowing the sounds of bustling rangers who now gather around you worried. Slowly, consciousness returns in fragments — voices now hushed, a gentle touch, and a dull, throbbing ache pulsing through your body.
Blinking your eyes open, you’re greeted by the leafy canopy roof, blurring and swimming in your vision. It takes a moment to orient yourself and take a deep breath, only to feel a sharp, burning pain in your chest.
“Hey, hey, don’t move too much,” A familiar voice says gently. You look up and see Tighnari’s concerned face hovering above you, his brows knit in worry.
“Nari…” You manage to murmur, wincing as his fingers graze your shirt. You can notice a stash of makeshift bandages on a stool nearby. Collei is nowhere to be found, leaving you as the only two in your partner’s abode.
“You took quite the fall,” Tighnari says softly, his voice both reassuring yet stern. “We’re still waiting for a doctor from Bimarstan to arrive and asses your situation further. We’re quite lucky nobody else was injured. What I cannot explain, however, is why you were climbing ladders without anybody spotting you.” He tries to keep his tone light not to worry you, but it’s easy to tell he’s genuinely concerned.
You open your mouth to explain, but all that comes out is a cough and you try to grab your chest in pain. Your partner is right in front of you, catching your hands — worried that your fall might’ve resulted in some injury there.
“Having trouble breathing?” He asks, crouching with your hands still in his. As soon as you reply with a slight nod, his expression changes to a one of worry. Perhaps the situation is worse than he initially predicted.
“Master! The doctor is here, can we come in?” Collei’s voice echoes, gathering the attention of you both. Gosh, you hope the young girl doesn’t blame herself for your injury. You don’t even want to think about potentially adding more stuff onto her plate of worries.
“Oh,” Tighnari leaves you be for a second, opening the door to the hut. “But of course. [Y/N] is also awake now.”
With a quick nod, the doctor enters carefully not wanting to startle you. He can overhear the whispers of your issues with breathing. Regardless of what happened, a thorough examination is in order. According to the words of the young forest ranger, your fall was quite brutal.
“Mr. Tighnari,” The doctor calls out to your partner as he steps outside. “I’ve concluded my check-up.”
Tighnari’s ears perk up, focused as he nods for the doctor to continue. He’s trying his best to keep his composure, but you can see the worry in his expression as he waits to hear about the findings.
The doctor’s done is steady and professional as he speaks. “Your partner has a broken rib. That can explain the chest pain and difficulty breathing. Fortunately, your partner hasn’t fallen all that bad, otherwise rather than a patient… you would’ve had a dead body on your hands.” Despite uttering such words, his posture is unnerved.
That cannot be said about Tighnari. His eyes are wide with shock, as he tries to comprehend if the doctor is trying to make a joke. Nobody, not even Cyno, would been so brave as to joke about a person dying — his soulmate dying, most specifically.
“It will take careful attention and time for the rib to heal properly. I’ve wrapped their chest to provide some support, but they’ll need to avoid any strain for the next few weeks.” He pauses, giving Tighnari a meaningful look. “They should take some time off work, heaven knows what you rangers do to patrol Avidya Forest.”
Tighnari releases a quiet sigh of relief, nodding as he absorbs the information, deciding to omit the thought of your death from his mind. “Thank you, doctor.” He says, voice steady but softened by gratitude. “I’ll make sure they rest and follow your instructions.”
The doctor gives a small, reassuring nod before leaving. Collei, however, hovers nearby, visibly anxious. Tighnari, picking up on her distress, gestures for her to come closer.
“Collei, it’s alright,” He says gently, giving her a comforting smile. “They’ll be fine, they just need time to recover. Don’t worry — it was an accident, nobody is at fault here.”
Her shoulders relax slightly, though she still looks at you apologetically. “[Y/N], I… I’m so sorry. I should’ve kept a better eye,” She says, her voice shaky.
Despite the dull ache in your chest, you manage a small, reassuring smile. “Don’t blame yourself. I’m,” You pause to take a breath. “I’m not upset… and neither should you.”
“Oh, um— o-okay…”
Tighnari places a hand on her shoulder, giving her a supportive squeeze. “You’ve done everything you could. I’m very proud of you for taking charge. Now that everything is in order, you can rest as well. We’ve all put in a lot of effort, you know.”
With a hesitant nod, Collei finally allows herself to relax. She murmurs a quick farewell and leaves, casting one last concerned glance your way.
Once you’re alone, Tighnari sits beside you, his expression soft as he takes your hand. “You had me worried,” He admits quietly, brushing a thumb over your knuckles. “You’re not getting out of my sight for a while, I guess?”
You cannot help but chuckle, which immediately turns into a wince as pain flares up in your chest. Tighnari’s grip tightens ever so slightly, brows furrowed in concern.
“See?” He says. “This is why you’re under strict bedrest. No adventures until you’re fully healed AND approved by the doctor.”
You sigh in response, resigned but comforted by his soulmate. “Fine, fine. I guess I have to behave now.” You reply, meeting his gaze with a hint of a smile.
No more than three weeks pass by as you realise being bedridden is quite boring. Sure Collei, Tighnari and even Cyno are here to keep you company while you get better, yet you're still aching to go out to witness the Sabzeruz Festival in person. You’re quite certain that at this point, every place of Sumeru is decorated to the nines and yet you’re stuck in your silly little bed.
“Drink slowly,” Tighnari says as he settles a glass of water on your nightstand. Over the past few weeks, your partner has truly evolved into his final form — a mother hen. Ever since the first day of your recovery, he has been granting your every wish. Fluffing over pillows? He’s done it. Feeding you? Complied with an eye roll. And yet, there was one thing he wouldn’t allow you to do… Leaving the hut. It has been so long since you’ve been outside, you were unsure if you knew how to walk still.
“Oh, thank you,” You pick up the glass and slowly bring it up to your mouth.“You shouldn’t have.” You say, taking a sip.
Tighnari’s watchful eye doesn’t leave you for a second, ensuring you’re drinking slowly enough not to cause yourself any harm. “Oh please, darling,” He rolls his eyes, scoffing at your preposterous comment. “It’s my pleasure to help out my soulmate in their time of need.”
“I know, I know…” You sigh, taking a look outside.
The garlands are still hanging in the branches, adoring Gandharva Ville’s trees with beautiful shades of pink and blue. Oh, how you long to witness this beauty in person, rather than from the confines of your bed. No matter how much you tried to hide said desire from Tighnari, there was simply no use. The male knew of every single one of your thoughts, whether you liked it or not.
“You know,” Tighnari sits next to the bed, resting his head on his hand. “Maybe we could take a walk today? I think it would do you good.”
Your eyes light up at his words, though you quickly try to compose yourself, not wanting to appear too eager. After all, Tighnari’s been strictly enforcing your rest, and far too much excitement might have him second-guess the idea. “A walk?” You ask, trying to sound calm but failing as a hint of hope slips into your voice.
He chuckles, eyes warm as he observes your expression. “Yes, a short walk,” Tighnari emphasises, “Only around the village, and only if you promise to let me know if anything feels off. We don’t want you taking any more tumbles.”
You nod, lifting your pinky finger. “I’ll take it easy.”
With his support, you ease out of bed, feeling the cool, earthy air of Gandharva Ville wash over you. The decorations are even more enchanting up close, just as they were on the day you put them up. Villagers and forest rangers greet the two of you as you pass by, each offering a smile and words of encouragement — relieved to see you up and about.
Tighnari keeps a steady pace beside you, his arm linked with yours as he leads you through the village. He looks at you every so often, making sure you’re okay. He cannot risk you any other injury so quickly, otherwise the doctor’s cruel joke might come to fruition.
For all this time, he had been keeping up a front of being worried… in moderate amounts. On the insides, for the past few weeks, Tighnari had been a nervous wreck. Juggling preparations for the festival while taking care of you was no easy feat. And yet, seeing you up and moving at least fills him with a deep, quiet relief.
“Are you okay there?” He asks softly. There’s a tenderness in his eyes, one that shows how much he’s missed seeing you this lively.
“Better than okay,” You reply with a smile, though you do your best not to overdo it, worried about the ache in your chest. “Everything looks so beautiful. It’s like… exactly how I’d imagined it.”
Tighnari chuckles. “Good to know the work has upheld the planner’s expectations.” He sighs a little. “Though I’d much rather have you safe and sound than climbing ladders. Please… leave the high work to someone else next time, you hear me?”
“Okay, okay—“ You nod, feeling gratitude mixed with guilt. “I never meant to make you worry.”
“I know. There was just…” His expression grows serious. “I don’t think I’ve ever felt as helpless as when I saw you there on the ground…”
The admission hangs in the air, as does the silence that comes soon after. Stopping for a second, you reach out to Tighnari, to wrap yourself around him in a gentle hug. “You took amazing care of me… I couldn’t have asked for more.”
He nuzzles his head with yours, not wanting to put any pressure on your body, grounding himself in said reassurance. “Well,” He says, his voice lingering. “You’re gonna have to let me fuss a little longer. I’ll watch you like a hawk until that rib is fully healed.”
“As if you weren’t doing so already…”

Back from the dead...
Hello, everyone! I know its been a loooong while. I'd like to extend an apology to all of you for going MIA for the last few months, as well as a welcome to all the new followers who have found this blog in those few months. As I alluded to way back at the beginning of the year, I got a new job in my real life, and it threw my work-life balance into disarray!
Thankfully, I think I am finally in a place where I can revive this blog (and good thing too, since I've got so many of your requests to fulfill). To those of you who are still following, thanks for sticking around. I'm working on my first regular post right after I post this one, which I should be able to get up tonight. The plan is to go back to AT LEAST one post a week, but aiming more for three or four. Who knows, maybe someday I'll get back up to every-other-day. Anyways, I'd better get to it. I'm happy to be back.
P.S. As a reminder, here's the google doc with links to all of the posts I've done in the past, in case you want to find any particular posts I've done in the past:
P.S.S. Has anyone been playing Pokémon TCG Pocket? I think its pretty neat. Feel free to share friend codes in the comments of this post, if you want. I'd love to see your cool cards!

lazy day (james wilson x reader)
𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆: in preparation for your lazy evening with james, you have a quick freshen up and a sweet moment
𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀: none, pure fluff
request: could you write a James Wilson fic about a few or all of these prompts (that is up to you)? “you have something in your hair… umm do you want me to get it out?”, “your hair is always so soft when you get out of the shower”, “wait, don’t pull away… not yet” and “you look really cute in that sweater”
note: there is no specific hair type or race detailed in this fic, every hair type is gorgeous :)
Water cascades over you, tracing the curve of your shoulders and spilling down your back . The steam condenses the room, blending with the strands of your damp hair. The air is thick, heavy with heat and the faint scent of rose, wrapping you in a comforting haze.
Tomorrow was one of the rare days that both you and James had off; no hospitals, no patients, no House for an entire 24 hours. Usual couples would plan a day out, see a movie, go to a restaurant but with the hectic lives the both of you live at work the perfect day together is one where you do nothing but enjoy each others company. After finishing your shift tonight all you wanted to do was have a shower and cuddle with your boyfriend and with your next day being filled with nothing but each other, you couldn't wait.
Stepping out, you feel the cold hit when your feet touch the floor. Wrapping a towel around your body after drying yourself you step into the shared bedroom to see it empty.
'James?' No answer, he must still be at work, his shift was a bit longer than yours. You put a pair of his pyjama bottoms on as well as one of his sweaters and clean up the bathroom before starting to dry your hair.
'Sweetheart?' You turn around to see him leaning against the door frame, 'I heard you call me just as I was coming in the door' He was still wearing his work clothes, his baby blue shirt and dark blue tie that you bought him for the previous christmas. He takes a couple steps towards you, focusing on your hair. Standing behind you he speaks, 'You have something in your hair,' he pauses, 'do you um want me to get it out?'
He looks at you through the mirror as you laugh, 'Jamie we've been together a while now, you don't have to ask before touching me.' He mumbles a small apology as he picks the bit of fluff out of your damp hair, not having fully dried it before he had interrupted.
'Your hair is always so soft when you get out of the shower' He leans his body against yours, nuzzling his head in your neck as he places a small kiss to it. Breathing in your scent, his hands begin travelling across your skin before he pulls back with a questioning look on his face. 'Is that mine?'
You try to stifle a laugh as you shake your head pointing to the jumper you had on. 'I would never steal your clothes! Does that really sound like something I'd do?' You push him out the bathroom, a sign for him to get changed so you can begin to enjoy your peaceful night.
'By the way,' He gave you a quick kiss before finishing his sentence. 'You look really cute in that sweater'

Details of my bind of A princess of Mars
Since I kept making small mistakes. Starting with the wrong printing format, then forgetting to adjust the sewing so I could trim (I did not plan for margins quite as large as they are... ). The backing turned a bit wonky too. So I decided I'd try some new things on this book.
I wanted to use the interference colours I have with a different base coat. They come out best with a black or dark ground colouring. Before I used oak gall ink, because that was what I had (and I love to watch the magic happen when it turns from translucent blue to black), but iron, in whatever form, is the last thing you want in a book because it will rust and damage the paper over time.
So I did some testing with a few different inks to check for effect and smudging and eventually switched to a china ink.
The one I got has a really nice black with a slight gloss to it. That should have tipped me off, but I kept going and just painted the edge with the interference colour acrylic ink just to watch how it gathered in the lowest part (I did the front edge with the curve first) and took forever to dry. Trying to help that with a hair dryer only needed me up with a pattern of tiny ripples. When I opened the book I could see the paint had been too thick in some parts and flaked off a bit. I diluted and kept painting, with way better results, eventually, but it's still not completely even on the front edge (the picture here is the 3. or 4. result... I was just tired to keep going at that point). The top and bottom edge look fine though.
Covering the case was a bit of an adventure too for a few reasons. I wanted to avoid and gaps... but first I failed to accurately estimate the stretch of my different papers then I forgot to consider the overlap and figuring out which part should overlap which was a challenge. I went of the green layer that wraps all around the case as top layer so it could cover all pointy edge I had not covered yet. The pointy bits are always the most likely to take damage or get loose. So I had that taken care off. I still have a small spot on the backside that's not the layer it's supposed to be, but it blends in well enough with the other colours.
Another thing that I did not think of was, when I cut the onlays was how overlapping would impact the shape. the yellow was supposed to be a nice slanting hill in the foreground... well, I would have had to keep that in mind for the overlapping toplayer.
I also thought about titling the cover and even got as far as test titling with copper, gold, creme, red and brown (the line between creme and brown, that's red, I know it's turned invisible, bu it is there). None of the results made me overly happy though so I skipped it.
Last thing, but I'm not sure whether it's a mark of the construction or the hinge is too small, the backing not sufficient, is the opening angle of the covers. It opens alright, but when I push the cover a bit down it drags the text block along and it looks like there's too much tension on it to me. I'll have to see for my next binds if I can optimise that.
I liked the spread out design enough to make it a picture for my wall ^^

I spent like all of today reading through book 6 cuz I needed a mental break today, which means I have completely finished this first arc!!
Thoughts on book 6 first:
As... Should be obvious from how quickly I finished it, I really liked this one. This book wasn't plagued with any of the pacing problems that the other ones had, and both the heartbreak and the victories felt well-placed and hard-earned.
The twist with Tigerstar in the third act was spoiled for me, unfortunately, but I think it still had the intended effect. It is kind of an anticlimax for his character? But I feel like it was a fitting end.
The ending itself was very satisfying. It feels like it ties together the story so far, which is... Incredibly tricky given how all over the place the series has felt. But it manages to pull it off, and it does so in a way that makes it feel purposeful. It's a very strong ending.
Now, onto the series as a whole...
I'm gonna start with what I liked, because there is a lot to like!!
I think the idea of the clans is relatively well thought out; how the different environments shape the kind of cats there, what kind of food they're likely to hunt and the difficulties they'll face, the various characters we meet... It does really feel like a setting one could sink their claws into and never really let go, and given how frequently the clans change loyalties and how quickly the cats grow up it seems really easy to fit your own characters into.
I also think the naming conventions are interesting!! How clan names are chosen, the way they change as a warrior develops, the unique terms for illnesses and the seasons and other common things. Fresh kill in particular has entered my vocabulary and stuck there cuz it's just such a good descriptor in my head.
I do love the focus on, like, legacy that the series has? With this focus on growth from kit to apprentice to warrior, and how important teaching the next generation is. It also ties in really well with the passing of the seasons; no matter what else is going on, the seasons march on, bringing their own challenges and forcing the cats to adapt to them.
I definitely fell in love with a lot of the characters, as well? The interpersonal relationships and how they grow and change, as well as how they don't, really breathe life into the world. From what I've seen, I'd say that Cinderpelt and Sandstorm are my favorites, but I also ended up falling in love with Greystripe and Silverstream's doomed romance, as well as Bluestar's quiet compassion.
I like the way Starclan is handled; they feel present the entire time without disrupting the tension or providing an answer. The messages from Starclan always feel like a mystery to be solved, which makes them engaging and kept me guessing.
The kitties are a lot of fun to draw, unsurprisingly; I still might make more art, if only for fun, and I'm really happy with how Bayflower turned out. I have a Warriors OC now and I wouldn't give her up for the world x3
That said, no series is perfect, and this one was... Kind of a bumpy ride. Lots of ups and downs. The clans beyond Thunderclan aren't very fleshed out beyond their like, broad characteristics and the few characters from them we meet directly, quite often the story feels aimless and things come together either too late or not at all. There's a fair bit of fatphobia and ableism in it. The villains in particular aren't very fleshed out; they only get to be a complex character until they've chosen their side.
The biggest thing that frustrated me though, is how inconsistent the series is. Some of these books were excellent, others were frustrating, and most fell somewhere in the middle, with moments that I absolutely loved compared with moments where I got so bored or frustrated I had to put down the book for a bit.
I'm not surprised by this? It's very common with long running book series, especially ones with multiple writers. But it still made me really unsure of what to think and made the experience less enjoyable overall.
Given how many books this series has, and how bumpy the ride has been so far, I think that this is where I get off. It's been an enjoyable time, and I'm very glad to have read the series, but there's A LOT of books and I don't feel comfortable committing to them after my experience with this first arc. I'm sure there are gems in there, but I don't feel like digging for them.
That said, if you have a particular book you think I should read, or an arc I should skip to so I don't miss out on a character you love, now's your chance to tell me!! I'm not averse to reading more in this setting, I just don't want to commit to the whole series.
Overall, this was a great time, and I'm glad that I read this first arc. There's a lot to love here, and I no longer feel lost or confused by the kitty references, which is great!! I can like. Get some of the jokes, and watch animatics without being completely lost, which is ESPECIALLY a boon. I adore fan animations they are the COOLEST thing.
Library found their copy
So it's time to do this!! If I enjoy my time I'll keep reading, but I make no promises.

hey, favorites.
so, i didn't think i'd be back. i'm sorry for leaving so abruptly. real life has been quite overwhelming, and my cave of teeth was too comfortable to come out of. i realize at the moment i'm talking to nobody because i deleted my account.
an explanation that perhaps you don't care for: i wrote a book over the summer. i wanted to fully focus on that, and i knew if tumblr was even an option, my manuscript wouldn't get the attention it so deserved.
i did it, though! i wrote a whole book based on my tyson jost high school sweetheart story. unfortunately, no one told me how soul-crushing the process of trying to get published is. all the rejection genuinely is ripping me up at the ribs. especially when i don't have you guys to remind me that someone likes my writing. but i'm still working on it. i haven't given up just yet.
regardless, i want to put some of my old stories back on here, but only the ones that i'm not interested in turning into full book-length works in the future. i want those stories to exist on here and have their place to be loved by you. so, i think, over the next few weeks or so, i'll try to get some of them back up again.
i know it's not that serious, but i did really miss you. and i'm sorry. i don't think i'll be writing any completely new stories, but maybe if anyone wants to read my book draft or other stuff i'm working on, i'd be open to it. everything i write is a little inspired by my hockey stuff, anyways.
i love you and your snakes so, so much, and i hope that you've been doing well and breathing easily.

just tagging a few lovely people who i want to especially apologize to - you were always so supportive of me and i am grateful to a hellish extent.

Ok so about yesterday's post, I'm rly rly grateful for all the attention n feedback, I'm glad ppl resonate with my analysis stuff and that they're happy to find someone who understands the characters, buuuuut Since it's my most critical post till now it's garnered a few counterpoints that I kinda wanna address.
The first one, and the one that I understand the most; the people that were telling me to not lose hope and that they could do something more with this.
I... Appreciate the optimism! I really do, and if you believe this then obviously I hold no ill will towards you and if you can keep looking on the bright side then more power to you, but... Really, I think the moment and the chance have already passed, unfortunately.
Yes, I am genuinely saying that, unless they pull a miracle, whatever they do next is just... Not going to land. Definitely not as well as it would have to have a better ending to the story we got.
Here's the main thing, really. For one... What is Burning Spice even gonna do to get one over Golden Cheese again? He's already just about entirely outmatched, and so anything they do next is just gonna feel like a repeat of what they already did in this update. Though more importantly, I'm concerned with the fact that they can't really do this again, we just saw Golden Cheese at her lowest point, actually on the brink of death, more heavily damaged than we've ever seen anyone in this entire franchise, we got extra development for both her and Smoked Cheese, and the Spice Army is kind of just... Not there anymore. No one other than Nutmeg Tiger really has any faith in Burning Spice anymore. The setting, the stakes, the characters, everything that made this story hold up (until its god awful ending) isn't repeatable, not without making it feel like we're just doing the same thing again. They can't match the sheer level of visceral brutality either, not only because again the setting is gone but also because it really won't hit anywhere near as hard the second time around, and even they have limits for how far they're willing to go with it.
That's just kind of the thing. The one thing that makes me so mad about how much this ending sucked. This entire story is one of a kind, you can't do this again, because if you try, then it's not gonna hit anywhere near as hard the second time around. Hell, it'd be the third time we've seen Golden Cheese in a low spot that she ends up pulling through and recovering from, and the second time (with Burning Spice) was so much more extreme than the first one which is part of what made it work, you can't do that again.
The framing isn't replicable. The active contrast between the two primary characters, the brutality and viscerality of it all, the active rejection of Burning Spice's ideals in a golden blaze of glory, the reinforcement of Golden Cheese's will through an adversary completely opposite to her, it can't happen again. This is why you don't fumble a story like this, because once you've shot the round, it's spent. There's no getting it back. If you miss the shot, no matter how potent the weapon, it won't do anything, and there's no getting that shot back. Specially because, like... Are we forgetting that we're not done with Golden Cheese here? Why waste more time on retreading ground that we already covered with her encounter against Burning Spice, when instead it would be much better spent later on focusing on her relationship with White Lily, and how she handles the whole Dark Enchantress situation? Sure, I have no doubt all the beasts are gonna come back, but I really, really don't see them getting entire stories dedicated to each and every single one again, specially involving their respective ancients, because... They've. Already lost. And if you try to set up the same matchups, it's just gonna feel like doing the same thing all over again. If/when they come back, it's most likely gonna be more short-form, akin more to a boss rush, I'd imagine, because the alternative is... What, exactly? Just doing their chapters again? A second time? For each one? It just feels really weird to think about, honestly.
Just... Everything here. Every bit of it. Every bit of narrative paralleling with Golden Cheese, Smoked Cheese, Nutmeg Tiger, Burning Spice and both of the respective kingdoms/armies, it was all contained in this arc, and you can't just do the same thing all over again, specially when the thing you've got set up next for Golden Cheese is a meeting with White Lily. Unless you plan to have Silent Salt and Burning Spice team up for a 2v2 against White Lily and Golden Cheese or... Something..? Completely taking away from the 1v1 fated duel kinda thing they've had going on this entire time..? I dunno, man. I don't see how they could salvage this. They had their chance, and they wasted it. Like sand, slipping through their fingertips.
Alright, that's the big one out of the way. I saw the comments and RBs bring up a few other points, so I'll address those now.
The first one, with someone posing the idea that she did take Burning Spice's Soul Jam, and that's why hers' changed color.
... What?
That's... That's not shown. Ever. Sure, you have an animation of her soul jam going over Spice's and eclipsing it, but... That's. Kind of it? It's never implied at all, and worse yet, it's directly contradicted by the fact Spice still has his Soul Jam. Like. It's right there. You can see it.
You could say maybe it's just a case of reusing assets, that they wouldn't make a whole new asset just for this one cutscene, but, uh... ... They did. It's this one.
It shows up in absolutely no other cutscene, only the one where he's about to get smacked by Golden Cheese. If his soul jam was taken not only would we have seen it (like we did both times it's happened to the Ancients), not only would he have probably noticed because that is very much a material object, but we would have seen it, like we do when both GC and Dark Cacao's soul jams are gone. So, no, he absolutely still has it. Undeniably so. You can't take someone's soul jam power without physically taking it, at least not that we've seen.
Secondly, a few comments/tags saying that it makes sense for Nutmeg Tiger to go back to Burning Spice after his defeat.
... I mean... Yeah, I guess? Technically?
It's... Not out of character. She is obsessive, absolutely to a fault, and she is incredibly stubborn. My main complain isn't that it makes no sense, and more that it's a bit of a wasted opportunity. More specifically, the fact that she went back to him with nothing about either of them having changed at all. It would have been super interesting to see how she'd react to seeing her god rendered powerless, to have him lash out at her despite her loyalty to him, to have Burning Spice's hostility and complete lack of care catch up to him and end up isolating him from absolutely everyone who served under him. To have her conversation with Smoked Cheese to be proven tangibly true, proving that yes, he would just discard her the moment she stops being useful. And, the best part? You get to keep her alive to have her process everything that just happened! Because, guess what, Burning Spice lacks basically all his power now, meaning he can't just kill her on the spot! Hell, if you really, really wanted to have a villain for a followup update, it could be Nutmeg Tiger, disillusioned with her former god's promises, deciding she'd find a way to become the next great destroyer, or something like that. Maybe she'd try to find someone else to serve instead to give her life some sort of purpose? Who knows! There's so many options you could go with, rather than just... Resetting everything back to where we started.
Really, this part of the whole thing is the least of my concerns. She's not the biggest player in this update, but I think she would have benefited heavily from the "Burning Spice gets his Soul Jam taken away" route in terms of potential development. Alas... There's a good chance we'll never get to know what that would have even looked like.
Thirdly and lastly;
The argument that it wouldn't be in character for Golden Cheese to give Burning Spice another chance.
Okay, this is somewhat minor. I need to emphasize; when I gave that hypothetical scenario at the end of the last post, I meant it as like... A long term thing. Not something to happen within the chapter itself. Besides, it's just one of many paths you could go with a jamless Spice.
... I'm still holding my ground on it, though.
See... We've got to remember here: Burning Spice's immortality is the exact thing that got him here. Take that away, and what do you get? A large man with anger issues and no special powers; and absolutely no one to cover for the newfound weaknesses of a mortal, since he's alienated and wronged absolutely everyone loyal to him. Not the Kulfis, or Nutmeg Tiger, or any of the spicelings would be left to help him. He'd be on his own, entirely. Why would Golden Cheese ever even consider helping him in any way, you may ask? After all he did, after all the bloodshed, physical pain induced, and complete lack of remorse for any of his actions?
Simple. For the same reasons she gave Smoked Cheese and White Lily another chance.
The latter specially! At the end of the latest Beast Yeast chapter, Golden Cheese decided she's ready to talk to White Lily. White Lily, who, as far as she and everyone else is aware, is pretty much responsible for her kingdom being reduced to nothing but ash and crumbs. Of course, on an objective level, White Lily is much more understandable, specially since she now exists as a separate person from Dark Enchantress, but... In the end, does it matter? Are the actions themselves any different? No, not really. The level of destruction and decay are still the exact same.
The main difference is, while White Lily would at most be hesitant to accept forgiveness and feel really really bad (like mortifyingly bad) about what Dark Enchantress did, Burning Spice wouldn't be interested in such a thing.
And, honestly? I feel like Golden Cheese would know this. And, at first, she'd have absolutely no interest in actually helping him. To me, she'd occasionally visit to see how he's faring, how this oh-so-powerful god of destruction is doing now that he's just a powerless little commoner, a mortal like all the rest, teasing him, finding entertainment in his position, while he can't do anything about it. She gave him the mercy of life, but that doesn't mean she's not gonna be a little shit about it and have her fun. And he can't do anything about it, either! Truly, eternal torture. Powerless, mocked by your enemy, made to feel small, denied the satisfaction of a proper fight or a warrior's death... Lol, get fucked idiot.
Eventually, it would probably turn into teasing him about how her kingdom is shaping up quite nicely, how happy everyone there is, how it's such a shame that his short-sighted and hostile nature prevented him from ever knowing such comfort and luxury, how instead he's here fighting for his life in the land that he once ruled.
And then idk he almost gets himself killed in the middle of a spice storm or something and she refuses to give him the satisfaction of a quick death so she drags his sorry ass off to safety much to his absolute livid rage and idk you know where this kinda thing goes. Both parties here hate each other. But I feel like sooner or later, it could grow into a very begrudging living agreement where he works for her, day in and day out, to make up for everything he did, and as payment for being given somewhere to stay. A destroyer, helping to rebuild and elevate a civilization he was so intent on destroying, how ironic is that?
And then yuri or something idk. That part is optional I just like the idea.
... Can you tell I'm a Dragon Ball fan? I'm all too used to absurdly evil villains getting another chance and becoming either significantly less dangerous or outright good.
Yes, I'm looking at you, Vegeta. You may not have killed a single earthling, but you did almost directly cause the death of 4. And then over time, through many, many humiliations, and finding yourself a woman who can somehow handle how much of an arrogant cocky bastard you are, with a temper matching or surpassing your own, you settled down and built something infinitely better than what you had when you exerted your power over those under you. Seriously, watch Dragon Ball Z, it's really good. It somehow makes a redemption arc for a guy who's blown up planets feel genuinely believable and engaging.
... Right, Cookie Run.
Yeah, I think it would be perfectly in character for GC to refuse Burning Spice the warrior's death he so desperately wanted (you know finding something that can destroy him), take his soul jam, and after a good while of having fun with watching him flounder about as a mortal, drag his ass over to her kingdom to work for her to compensate for all the shit he's done. And it would be infinitely more interesting than what they actually ended up doing.
And... I think that's it!
I think that covers everything I wanted to say regarding my last post on the update. This is probably the last I'll have to say about it of my own accord, though you can definitely continue the conversation through asks (Always open!). I'm still really mad at how bad they fumbled, but...
Hey, that's what fan-fixing is for, isn't it? This ending may have sucked, but don't let that prevent you from making a better one yourself, through whatever your medium of preference is. Go ham. Because there's a good chance whatever you have in mind is infinitely better than whatever the hell they're planning to do next with Burning Spice.
Go absolutely nuts. I'll be watching on, and potentially participating, if writing motivation ever strikes.
Cya'll.
#jester ramblings#cookie run#cookie run kingdom#burning spice cookie#golden cheese cookie#also someone just rb'd the post in question asking why she would want spice's soul jam#i don't think she'd actually use it at all. it'd be more taken as a cautionary measure stored away somewhere in her kingdom#as both a treasure and a way of preventing burning spice from doing any further harm in the future#yknow declawing and disarming him rather than killing him because that's basically the worst fate that could befall him specifically#i wanted to put this in the post but i couldn't find the room lol#so in the tags it goes
