#i hate the cherryfest

I often think about the pointless waste of it all for American entertainment

Where I live there's a cherry festival, because cherries are a huge crop in this area

But someone had the idea of moving the cherry festival week so it overlaps with 4th of july

The thing is... The local cherry crop isn't usually ready to harvest in the first week of july

So what do they do to supply the cherry fest? Import a bunch of cherries from Washington

So a festival for the main local crop is using cherries from the other side of the continent just so it can be during the 4th of july

The worst part? The imported cherries aren't as good, how could they be after transport? Local fresh produce is always the best because it requires the least amount of time from harvest to consumption

So a celebration of local produce not using local produce, celebrating the "founding" of this country on stolen native lands, and the celebration isn't even that good because of all of it

What a crock of shit
