Laying down on the sofa with a popsicle in between your teeth you were trying to cool down from the ravishing heat of summer here in Skyloft.
Looking outside you then peeked over the wall clock; 21:15.
He was late, again.
Sighing, you got up, closed the window and became hopeless of the thought that the temperatures were going to cool down. Turning on the floor fan you had begged Link to help you buy, you were about to sit down again until you heard a loud noise by your right.
Stumbling over your feet your eyes met those dirty blonde locks of him, sticking a bit to his forehead from what you assumed was the heat outside.
"Link!"
You squealed as you ran to him, thankfull of the shortness from the living room to the entry hall. Opening your arms to hug him you widened your eyes and stopped dead on your tracks.
"Woah- you look like you fought a Bilocyte on your way home"
He grunted, closing his eyes wearily as you took in his not-so-radiant mien; Messy hair, sweaty skin, reddened cheeks, his back slumping down as he stabilized himself with the handle of the door and those dark circles below his gorgerous sky eyes.
"What happened?"
He stayed silent for a bit and you let him inside the house, watching as he sighed, finally able to take off his gear.
"I'm fine, just tired"
Your eyes didn't soften a bit, painted with a worried look while your hands helped him off his despair. His sword on your hand and his bow on the other you spoke outloud.
"You're having a bath"
"Later, I have to finish up cleaning my bow for tomorrow"
Your iris instinctively searched for the piece of polished wood, taking note of his awful aspect. It's paint was just forgotten under the layer of dirt that was covering most of the drawings and the grip and arrow rest were both messed up too.
"Don't be silly, I'l help you out with that later"
His brows furrowed as if he wanted to open up his mouth to refuse until-
"Now you're coming with me"
And with that, you grabbed his forearm tightly, almost dashing off to the bathroom as you put your hair down.
. . .
"Gotta get my boy cleaned up"
You said huffing as you helped him out of his absolute nasty clothes, all sweaty and messy. Trying to to oogle too much to your very handsome boyfriend you started to squeeze some fresh camomille soap an old lady gifted you the other day at the store, telling you how "calming and soothing you would almost feel your bones soften up from it" it was.
"It smells good what is it?"
You looked at his perked up ears, a sign that he indeed liked the smell. You giggled, talking about that cute old lady who seemed to be pretty happy whenever he saw you with Link, telling you to marry him before anyone else did.
At that last comment he went a bit quiet, almost blushy before you took in your own looks. Messy hair, sweaty skin... Hylia how you hated hot weather sometimes.
Seeing that he was already laying peacefully on the bathtub, the bubbles almost covering his chin you decided to get inside too. Sneaking your way in he wasn't alerted by your presence until he felt your body crash against his own, some water spilling out the tub as he instinctively grabbed you.
"Hello"
Your words were muffled by the bubbles around you, some of them hitting his cheek as you smiled before he answered with his own
"Hi"
Your arms hugged his whole back, his did too, pulling you up with him so you both could get a better posture.
"What have you done today-"
You said, cutting your own words as you removed your arms from him, sitting up straighter as you inspected his face like a mother would with his child.
"-to be so messy, Link?"
His name almost sounded accusatory as you furrowed your brows, now starting to part his blonde locks. Chest pressed into his face before drawing away, you grabbed a small bucket, moving so much even more water was spilled out.
"I was outside, helping out a little girl with her lambs..."
He spoke and was interrumpted by a splash of water directly on his head, shutting his eyes tightly as he let you manage his hair around.
"-that's why I'm so messy"
You sighed out, always helping others, you thought.
The room was filled with silence and often interrumped by soft groans as you massaged his hair, having squeezed a bit of his usual shampoo into your hands beforehand.
You liked- no, loved having such precious moments like this with him; being able to caress the head of your lover into your arms, massage his skin, his hair, his hands, whatever he felt sore for. And of course he loved it too, however, he always felt like he was making you work too hard for him.
More often than he prefered he had to come home like this; late at night and you were already sleeping, eating the cold dinner you had prepared for him too, having to tend his wounds...
He didn't want to think about it right now, having you sprawled out on top of him, taking such great care for him and the feeling of warm water around you was enough for him to forget.
"I wanna be the one you put the ring on, yknow"
He opened his eyes from their slumber, brow quirking in confusion before he saw your softened smile, looking down at him with such adoration he felt as if he was going to melt from all your love.
"Earlier, when I told you about that lady..."
Oh
So that's what you were talking about.
"I don't want anyone else to marry you"
He didn't know why you were acting so lovely with him now and you didn't know either, he just looked too cute.
Splashing more water on his hair you finally finished washing it off, chuckling at his wet puppy appereance with his hair almost blocking his view. He fixed it, looking at you with changed pupils, grabbing your shoulder and pulling you down with him.
Your head was now laying on his chest, listening to his steady and strong heartbeat, his hands drawing circles on your spine, sometimes tracing it with his index up and down slowly.
"I'm not marrying anyone that's not you, y/n"
You smiled and he could feel it on his skin, making him copy you.
"You're the only one that has been through all, with me"

Mini-Fic: Tulin Tickles
I completely 100% blame @otomiyaa for this. 😂 Here I was working on normal things, and she went and reblogged an old Tulin post that got my brain working. So this is not great and was spit out very quickly. Lol
The warm Hebra summer wind blew through Tulin’s crest as he nocked an arrow into his Swallow Bow. This was his last shot…he had to make it count. His tongue poked out of his black beak, and he squeezed one eye tight…the wooden bullseye, scarred by dozens of arrowheads, bobbed up and down on a Korok balloon, 200 yards ahead.
“Come on, Tulin, you’ve got it!” Zelda cheered him. Link tossed her a glance that playfully asked “Whose side are you on?”
“Heck yeah! I’m the best archer in Rito history!” declared the young avian, cocky as always. One last cheeky wink at the competition, and then he took off.
Wings flapped. Claws pulled at taught string. The arrow fired off like a rocket through a spiraling wind, and time seemed to stand still. The target was dancing quickly in the air. With a loud and vibrating THUNK, the arrow struck home…
…on the target’s outside edge. It pulled to the side just in the nick of time to avoid a bullseye.
“Ohhh, that was so close!” Zelda announced. “Sorry, Tulin, that’s 30 to 29…Link wins again!” She dove toward Link excitedly and pecked him on the cheek. Tulin’s face fell.
“Awww, maaaannnnn….” he grumbled and kicked the dirt, pouting. All he wanted was to be a great warrior, just like his dad…and Link. But no matter how hard he pushed himself, it never felt like enough. Teba always told him to “take it easy” or “you’re still a child” or “don’t try too hard” and other boring parent stuff…still, nothing excited him more than tearing holes in the sky with his bow. Why, just imagining all the upcoming practice he’d have to do…it quickly turned his frown into a determined grin.
“Well…I’ll get you next time, Link; you just wait!”
Link smiled and nodded at him, and even flashed a thumbs-up for good measure. Tulin returned the favor…he couldn’t possibly stay grumpy with his friends. But as he turned to retrieve his arrows, he didn’t look where he was going, and clumsily bumped right into the princess, who appeared in front of him as if from nowhere. She didn’t seem to mind, though…she was smiling down at him, her head framed by hanging streaks of golden hair, and she was giggling like a schoolgirl who knew a dirty secret. Tulin looked up into her eyes.
What’s she up to?
"Heehee! Remember the rules, Tulin…”
Oh no.
“…the loser has to pay a penalty.”
When Rito became nervous, their whole bodies prickled like fuzzy pinecones as their feathers stood on end. And at that precise moment, Tulin looked like a very fuzzy pinecone indeed. His eyes were the size of dinner plates.
"W-wait...hold on! We don't have to..." The young Rito stumbled backward away from the princess, stammering, seemingly having forgotten that he could fly. She was slowly walking toward him, hands tucked behind her back, her sunny smile hiding evil intent.
"I'll train EXTRA hard for next time, and...a-and...yike!"
Before he could flutter his wings away, Zelda grabbed Tulin by the shoulders and pushed him down into the high grass. He tried to squirm out of her grip, but his leader plunged her fingertips through his feathery coat and wiggled them up and down, pinching like crab claws under his arms and all over his belly.
Oh no.
"Uhuh-HAA!! *hic* Ah HA-HA Ha-Ha Ha-Ha!! *gasp* Aw...vnnn...ffffHA-Ha Ha!! Huh-Heh HA!!" Tulin's chipper voice kept cracking, his hysterical boyish laughter peppered with shrieks and hiccups as he struggled wildly. He was flapping around like a...well...a Cucco with its head cut off.
"Heh! Your giggle is contagious, Hn-Hn Hn!" Zelda cooed sweetly, lost in her own joyful snickers. She was loving every second of this. “Heehee! Awww, Link; he's sooo ticklish...”
"Luh…Link, HA-HA HA! M-make her stahahop!!” Tulin’s cheeks were hot with embarrassment, and they hurt from smiling. He hated this…why wouldn’t Zelda stop treating him like a baby? Surely his closest friend, his big brother, the Hero of Hyrule, would rescue him. Surely…right?
No such luck. Link was laughing too. Instead of helping, he knelt down and rummaged through his travel pack, ever the sovereign’s obedient knight…the gears in his head were visibly turning. Out of his supplies he pulled a strange, squirmy object and tossed it near the tussling knot formed by his two friends.
It was a green Lizalfos tail.
The severed appendage, unaware its owner had died, suddenly snapped like a whip and coiled itself around Tulin’s right ankle. It felt cold and craggy and squeezed too tight. Was it trying to snare prey for a non-existent mouth? Tulin couldn’t say…
…he was too busy cracking up. The tip of the tail was flicking back and forth and tickling his foot. He was laughing so hard he’d almost gone silent. Tears stung his eyelashes.
"Hhhhuh, Ha-Ha Ha-Ha Ha! *gasp* Heheh...NGHa-Ha Ha-Ha HAA Haha-Ha!! H…Hehehelp! Uncle!!!"
But then, out of nowhere and quite instinctively, Tulin was startled to remember something: his Vow.
A huge, cold gust of wind blasted from his flapping wings. The Lizalfos tail ripped from his leg and careened far into a field beyond, and the princess of Hyrule was thrown into the air with the force of a Hinox arm.
She cried out in surprise. Link immediately hopped up to catch her, and although his arms were at the correct height, he misjudged the distance. Zelda’s butt crashed right into his chest cavity, and the wind was knocked completely out of him. He choked, eyes bulging, unable to breathe, and the two crumpled into a heap on the knoll.
Spurred by a mix of shock, guilt, humiliation, and a sore stomach, Tulin sat up in the grass and stared, jaw hung open.
He wanted to be mad. He wanted to huff and pout and not talk to either of them for a day or two.
But looking at Link and Zelda sprawled on top of each other like that, all Tulin could do was laugh.

EEEEEE CONGRATS ON THE 130 FOLLOWERS LOVE!!! THAT'S SO EXCITING!!! <3<3<3
For a request how about Aonung and black fem reader, I could just imagine his awe when seeing the reader and then wanting to learn everything about reader and then eventually courting and mating with them!
Thank you so much for the request you are my first Ao'nung girlie and let me tell you I had and am having a blast writing this. So this kinda got away from me, a one shot turned multi chapter that's how much I love this request I suppose!. Any way here at least chapter one of Sun-Kissed Siren
Sun-kissed Siren
Chapter 1 His Tsawksyul
Paring: adult ao'nung x fem!dreamwalker adult reader
Word count: 8.8k
Warning: suggestive language and a fastish burning bright love trope, but there will be smut,
Y/n sat with the other scientists the only one without an avatar, it wasn’t by choice you had to wait another month or 2 before it was ready as one of the last scientist to arrive your avatar had to be made on planet nearly 6 long years ago. You watch the other avatar drivers interact with the Na’vi while you in human form swung in a hammock anchored by 2 floating mountain pieces above the main hut of the avatars wishing you could have gone with Neytiri and Jake not that you didn't like it here, It was just painfully obvious how different you were but similar that and you really couldn’t help much outside helping Moat with post raid injuries.
“Y/N!!” A voice calls out causing you to look over the edge down below to see Norm. You make a loud chirp from the back of your throat to get his attention and jumps down “ there you are come on get changed and grab whatever you need we are going to the reef clans to meet up with Jake and to check in on things” If you had a tail it would have been thrashing in excitement Norm giving a smile at your obvious elation he had to admit out of all the scientists you were the most fascinated by this world but you adapted well to pandora as if you were born on the wrong planet. “Give me 30 minutes i swear i will be quick” you grab your bag stuffing the myriad of things you had made for not only your best friends Jake and Neytiri but for their kids who had taken to calling you their aunt. You knew from what Norm and Max had said about the reef of pandora and the clans; by the sea , sunny, something different from the humid forest.
You quickly change clothes from your normal wrapped halter crop top and double slit skirt to a simple black cropped tube top with a matching bikini bottom and a hand woven sarong kiri helped her make one hot summer day as they sat cooling off by the river and your bare feet even before getting to pandora you hated shoes and now in a clan that saw no use for them you ditched them day one. You kept your hair out the hip length mass of waves and curls would take too long to wrangle you can maybe get Kiri or Tuk to help.
Norm looks at you trying to hold in a laugh “ going to the beach y/n?” You punch his Navi form in the leg “shut up Norm until my avatar body is ready im a freaking recluse let me have this, breathing implant or not it sucks being stuck here 90 percent of the time “ you protest as the helicarrier took off to the reef clans.
Ao'nung was walking along the beach clan duties had been cut short though he had no idea why until he saw his sister chatting with the 4 sully kiss who looked excited "Y/N is coming today" Tuk said excited her voice reaching his ears. "It's been so long I wonder if she brought us gifts she said she would" she says. His sister Tsireya looks confused but happy for their excitement as she touched Lo'ak's arm. "Who is Y/N?" Loak smirks looking genuinely happy when he spoke "our Aunt she is very close with our dad and mom even helped fight against the sky people which is a lot seeing how she is a sky person" he says. Ao'nung scoffs a sky demon betraying its own kind. "Well she shouldn't be here she can't even adapt or connect." He mutters, before anyone could answer the loud sound of the helicraft flew over them to a open spot on the beach. Tuk runs happy "come on come on let's go she's here" she calls the others trailing behind.
Y/n stepped off the craft jumping down humming feeling the soft sand and salty air on your skin you could sunbathe and bask in this for hours "I'm in love already" you murmurs your honey brown eyes sparkling with happiness. "Y/N!!!" You smile hearing Tuks voice and look around seeing a much larger Tuk as well as Kiri, Neteyam, and Loak. "TUK TUK!!!" You call back running as fast as you could kicking sand as you went hugging her she was now almost a foot taller than your 5ft 9inch form. She hugs back "I've missed you….there are so many things….. you're hair it's longer its not up" she says. You laugh and greet them all "well it's been cooler up in the mountains I can afford to let it out I would have braided it but it would take too long." She gives them each a hug before looking over seeing Jake and Neytiri talking with Norm "well I'll say hi later how about you show….." you trail off seeing the two Metkayina standing off the first thing you noticed was their hair it was just like yours you also noticed the difference between them and the omatikaya. Your heart does pick up when you meet eyes with the male his hair was in braids that were contained in a tight bun a part of you wondered what it looked like loose your eyes travel down taking in the rest of his form; the x rib cage broad shoulders and chest strong arms one bare the other covered in intricate beautiful tattoos as ypur eyes traveldown to the same leg covered in eaqually as unique tattoo although a portion remained a mystery as it dipped passed his v line down behind his tweng unconsciouslyyou licked your lips. You tried to control your staring eyes slowly taking him blinking to regain some type of decorum before you quite literally began to drool. "Tuk why are they staring" You whisper your brown eyes meeting with his aqua one your heart picking up nervously looking away still feeling his heated stare.
Ao'nung was speechless he didn't know what he expected but it wasn't this…. You were kissed by the sun your hair hung like a mass of untamed dark waves an curls like the crashing tides at night the same ones he loved to dive into when the tides would change. He heart raced as his ears pressed back to his skull as he watched in literal awe of this sky demon. His eyes trailed down to your outfit her top was simple covering just your chest his tail sways noticing you curves as he takes in your what he assumed was your tweng hanging from your voluptuous hips. He was stunned how could someone so different be yet so suited for the sea?!
"My name is Tsireya and this is my brother Ao'nung welcome to our village" his sister's voice causes his ears to twitch and he looks away slightly "Oel ngati kameie" his ear flick to you a soft smirk came to his lips, your voice was so refreshing and you spoke the language like a true Na'vi. He gave the motion responding silently fearing if he spoke he'd embarrass himself.
Y/n smiles softly looking to the two "it's nice to meet you, I'm y/n". Tuk then pulls your arm "let's swim come on let's jump in" her excitement taking over "Wait wait Tuk let me put my bag down in your pod" she laughs being dragged by the child. Everyone followed you turns around your step bouncing slightly on the walkway catching up with the sully kids before putting her things down. You turn eager to enjoy the change of scenery and allows tuk to lead the way to the edge. You pick up speed and dive under perfectly nearly choking in amazement seeing the life under the surface. You look around seeing the 6 had followed and continue to swim taking in everything following them around.
He watched you swim and explore the water around you and even then he found more to admire the waps your hair cradled and swirled around your face when you moved, how your eyes shined seeing something new, how well you took to the water. He had to know you. He couldn't explain why but the pull to you was almost aggravating. He watched you slowly come up to the surface taking a deep breath before floating on the surface of the water on your back he waded to you the water only reaching his waist as he watched the waves rock and shift your body to its rhythm.
You open your eyes the sun now blocked by a shadow, it was Ao'nung. You quickly stand and male your way to some rocks in the shallow wringing your hair the water splashing onto the wet rocks before you let go your "you are Ao'nung" you sit your feet still in the water "I'm glad to see they made friends here" you say smoothing your slowly drying yet shrinking hair "how are you so good?" You stop his voice deep voice filling your ears. "Good at what exactly? If you mean the language I refused to speak anything else for a while…" you says pulling one leg from the water shifting positions as he moved closer. "No not that you dive like metkayina" he says leaning in closer now in front of you.
You look him over for a moment speechless at his comment cheeks becoming hot. "Why are you in the forest when you belong here." You look up at him heart rushing in your ears like crashing waves. "I…. Swim a lot in the rivers and where I'm from the diving you do is a past time a hobby really…. But me I just like the water it calms me" you say.
He looks you over listening to your words…. It was clear you were better suited for his home than the forest. He had to find a way for you to stay he wanted more time with you. "Let me teach you the customs of my people y/n" he said unable to stop himself as he reached up playing with the curls of your drying hair. He gives a smirk his mind conjuring your hair in metkayina styles before dropping his arm. "Are you sure the olo’eyktan and tsahik will be okay with that" he smiled wondering how you'd react knowing he was the clan leader's son. "I mean I'm not exactly suited for reef life…. And my avatar isn't ready also I'm only visiting." You ramble as much as you'd love to spend months by the water, Some things are just not possible "easy ma tsawksyul I will make it happen" he says smirking watching your face flush under his words. You watched him leave unable to ask anything else as he dove under the water and out of sight. You slip into the water swimming over to the shore, sinking under one last time to wet your hair and wring out the excess water flipping it over your shoulder as you made your way to the sully’s home tilting your head to the warm sun smiling softly knowing that despite what Ao’nung stated you would be leaving soon so why not ingrave the picture in your mind before returning back to the lush forest.
Ao'nung spoke to his father his eyes following you as he spoke following your form as you vanish and reappear in his line of sight before his attention is pulled back to his father to explain is case when all he wanted was to take you back out to enjoy the water.
Speechless you sat in Jake and Neytiri's mauri looking over the water and the bustling life of the Metkayina she already missed it. Their kids went off to ride their ilu and since you were not equipped for deep water you stayed behind "I know that look y/n come on talk to me" a familiar voice breaks your thoughts and you smile looking up to see her surrogate brother who fit well into the life ever the adaptable idiot marine. "jake you look good old man" you tease watching him roll his eyes feeling his tail smack your head. "Shut up short stack" he chuckles and sits with you returning to his previous question "what has you looking like that, haven't seen that look in a while." He nudges you. Sighing you lean back "I should've come with you this last year and a half doing nothing is killing me… but without my avatar I am a beacon for danger" your voice a bit sad as you explain your dilemma. Jake sighs putting a hand on your shoulder "I understand. I think your desire to join the people is stronger than mine was…. Want me to talk Norm into letting you stay a few more days?" You laugh and shake your head knowing Jake could do it too. “I wish but my avatar should be do in the next couple of weeks they refuse to let me see or even look at the data…but i want to be there as soon as its done” you sigh hopeful the next time they meet you will be on an ikran.
"Jake sully and y/n" you look up your heart leaping into your throat from the deep voice above you. You look up staring at the huge metkayina warrior, one that knew your name. You took a closer look seeing his attire extravagant colorful, your eyes widen and immediately you knew the olo’eyktan of the clan. "Oel ngati kameie olo’eyktan" you say a bit frantic bowing your head giving the hand gesture for respect looking almost pathetically embarrassed for looking at him so rudely. "He was right," he says with a soft almost kind tone as he gave the gesture back. "Tonowari, what can we help you with?" Jake speaks tapping your arm. "Come we can talk in my mauri," he says.
You look at Jake confused but get up walking with him, seeing who could only be his wife and the Tsahik. You bow your head "oel ngati kameie" you murmur and sit hoping you weren't being told to leave.
"My son asked me to let you stay he claims you belong here and should learn our ways." Tonowari says looking at you. Y/n looks shocked hair falling in your face as your head jerked to look at Tonowari "I….me but…I'm sorry I'm not understanding. Who was right and about what." You start confused "and I don’t think I've met your son" you say keeping your head down. There was a chuckle causing you to look up in confusion at the amusement in the olo’eyktan's eyes "his name is Ao'nung" he states "and he knows you". Y/n blushes harder than she thought possible "I…. Just…." Your voice died along with your words "speak girl you are to be metkayina you must be able to come to your olo’eyktan and tsahik." A stern voice pierces your ears. You look up see the tsahik staring at you "I am human, I can not connect to anything I am a pretty good diver but that is the extent of my skills besides the bow" you say taking a deep breath "I don't want to seem like I'm disrespecting your culture." You look to Jake who looks shocked by your words "eywa is open and accepting of you being here she is in fact eager for you to stay" Ronal hums.
You walks from the leaders home with Jake and looks up at him "don't say anything jake" you grumble. He chuckles "oh you mean the fact you are here one day and the chiefs son likes you should I be expecting him courting you soon." You roll your eyes and punch Jake in the leg before seeing ao'nung with the sully kids and she walks to them "TUK TUK!" You smile seeing her turn and run to you "y/n y/n I thought you left we saw the others leave" she asks the rest looking curious while ao'nung looked smug. "I was given a pass to stay and learn the best I can the ways of the Metkayina" you say and look to ao'nung seeing him smirk.
"Come y/n let me do your hair" tsireya chirps happily taking you to sit down and style your hair. You smile softly and nod letting her guide you and sit happily the first time someone has done your hair in years it felt nice you felt at home.
“Oh y/n you are going to love it here i have seen you swim you are well suited for the way of our people don’t let anyone here tell you differently.” You smile looking back to tsireya and laugh “i really hope so I've always loved the water I would let the river currants guide me when I floated on my back I lost how many times I fell into the pull of a waterfall" you giggle hearing her laugh "I think you and I are going to be good friends and my brother well don't think I didn't notice." You blush at her words and looks down "I….. you" you stop seeing Ao'nung with some of his friends but his eyes were clearly on you. You blush and look away stealing a glance seeing a dangerously amused smirk accompanied by a tilted head.
You quickly look away wondering how you would be able to focus on anything with him around but you wouldn't know until tomorrow resolved to make an effort not to become enthralled with the chiefs son, a small part of you not wanting to hear Jake joke about it running in the family as it didnt take you long to realize tsireya and Lo’ak were a mated pair. (Apples and trees am i right). You look over again to sneak a glance at Ao’nung unable to help yourself only to see him still staring and just gives a nod chuckling. You look away trying keep the burning smile on your lips at bay.
Ao'nung waited anxiously in the water for you he had volunteered himself to train you now he was drawing a blank on what to teach first… better diving techniques, fishing, making a net, hunting there were so many choices, but what he wanted to know what you liked what you'd be impressed with he succeeded in having you stay now he had to keep his tsawksyul happy. "Ao'nung I'm so sorry I'm late tuk and kiri had me up late weaving with them and I slept pass my time" he chuckles seeing you dive into the water and pop to the surface. He couldn't help his smile seeing you in a metakayina hairstyle it suited you so well despite your bun falling undone. "It is alright tsawksyul hold still." He hums in your ear now behind you.
Y/n stops feeling his body pressed to hers wildly aware of how tall he was compared to you in human form it made you blush "ao'nung what are you…" you stop feeling his hand trace the back of your neck before fixing your hair "the waves would have taken your bun apart” he murmurs fixing your bun.
In reality Ao’nung didn't need to do what he did he loved your hair up or loose as long as it was you but something compelled him to do this. A hairpin made of a greenish blue iridescent shell he made to keep his own hair in place but now he wanted you to have it, in a subtle way marking his claim on you by tradition he was now courting you. His eyes darting to the others of his clan watching with surprised expressions as they passed he tucked it making sure it was secure yet visible “next time make sure its secure even if you have to rebraid it” he stand back admiring his work on you
You look into the water seeing a tightened bun and a shell in your hair it was pretty and shifted in the light "thank you ao'nung" you say you touching his arm. Seeing his tail sway in delight. "I'm going to teach you how to breath and dive better y/n you said you wanted to go into deeper water I can help you learn" he says and you smile brighter "I'd love that ao'nung." He begins to walk deeper into water with you "why did you want to come here from your planet" you stop hearing his words
"I had nothing left back home and that world didn't fit me…. There is no green, no natural life and I well that's all I wanted…. To bring back the fresh air and green tree to swim in water that wasn't heavily polluted or chlorinated" you push off onto your back letting the current carry you father out into the water. "When I arrived I did 3 things…. I threw away every pair of shoes I owned, spoke nothing but the native language and I think I spent 5 days doing nothing but swimming in the rivers close to where we were staying. I nearly lost my job" you laugh "but humans, sky people wanted to do more of the same hurt, destroy, pollute and I turned my back on my own kind for this… swimming, nature, life." He smiles letting you float enjoying your answer he watched your hair carry in the current, your content bright smile, the shell pin in your bun, his tsawksyul. "Come we need to start you're training."
You watched ao'nung dive into the water and follow him seeing him use his fingers to communicate something. You tilt your head having no idea what it meant but follows him anyway making an assumption. You noticed the soft frustrated look in his eyes before they soften and continue to swim. You watched how well he moved with the water. It was effortless, you smiled swimming above him slowly floating to the surface. You blush softly see him turn on his back swimming to look at you giving that infamous smirk of his making you blush and look away coming up for air as your heart raced your head became light as if your air was gone .
You see him come up only a few seconds later pressing his large hand to your torso on your diaphragm "breath ma tsawksyul breath" his deeply accent voice vibrates against you. You all but melt into him your heart racing in your chest. You bite your bottom lip to hold in whatever squeak or noise clawing it's way past your throat. You try to breath normally but he was so close engulfing you in his warmth and his hand never moved from your diaphragm. "Your heart beats fast, concentrate and calm yourself" he murmurs. You let out a soft whimper in protest "you are distracting" you gasp slowly looking up at him. It wasn't a lie this voice, his looks, that mischievous yet inticing smirk make every bit of your heart race and now with him this close your body felt like it would shut down from the nerves.
His smirk widened his tail splashing in the water from those words he pressed his face to your shoulder to suppress the chuckle bubbling in his throat. he made your heart race he could barely contain his elation from that information and manages to contain himself "I, apologize" he purrs but the tone of his voiced stated he was not even a bit remorseful. "But I can not leave you here alone so tell me things you like get your mind calm and your body will follow" he hums.
You look up at him and told him the things you like fruits and foods, the colors you've grown to love here, the things you did when you unwind even the shells you've come to love here just from spending a few hours weaving with your family. The things you used to do the things you wanted to do that scared the living hell out of you. Slowly but surely your body relaxed you leaned into his touch as he held you. To anyone on the outside it looked like the most unlikely of a pair in a romantic embrace enjoying the water. "Now ma tsawksyul breath deep" he purrs against your temple and with a deep breath in your lungs you slipped under the water with him smiling happily.
Slowly as your nerves subside you find it easier to stay under water diving down your goal to reach the floor of the reef which was 5 maybe 10 feet below you, a force of habit from the river to lay at the bottom and watch the world float up around you loving the way the light swirled in the water. You look down at Ao’nung swimming below you on his back, you cover your mouth trying not to laugh at how relaxed he looked. You push yourself through an opening in some rocks and appear right above him giving a smile before going up for air once again. You take deep breaths wiping the water from your eyes as you felt the heat of the sun on your face. “ you are doing well better than your family did when they got here” he smirks poking fun at them.
You squint and splash him “ well id like to see you try navigating through the forest bet you would look just as lost “ she shoots back her eyes shimmering with a feisty heat that reminded him a little of his mother.
He couldn’t stop the smirk spreading on his face he couldn’t deny he liked your sweetness but that spark of fire had his heart hammering not many girls here did that seeing he was the olo’eyktans son. “Oh is that so little tsawksyul, and will you be the one taking me to the forest to prove this statement” he states feelin his large hand on the small of your back pulling you closer. He watched as that feisty glint melted into an adorable flustered look he could get used to pulling from you. His smile grew wider as you seem to fumble and trip over your own words. He chuckles feeling the heat of your frustrated and embarrassed look causing him to back off just a little.
You huff at his laughter and shake your head trying not smile before looking back to shore. your eyes follow follow the sound of squeaks and chirps and smile seeing ilu you laugh "they are like dolphins" you say more so to your than to ao'nung swimming a little closer.
"What is that a dol- fin" his deep voice makes you turn to face him "a dolphin is a ocean creature from my planet they are very intelligent creature, like the ilu" you start " but they can be mischievous up to the point of being an asshole but when you are that smart I suppose it happens." You laugh remember the articles you used to read about it. You look over to him meeting his eyes surprised he was already looking your way “could you swim with them,” you nod
"Mhm as in you just interact not use them as a mount" you hum leaning back kicking your feet up to tread water on your back "would you like to ride one" he asks.
You look at him gently falling underwater before popping back to the surface. "You mean right now" you looked confused there was the issue of the creature not listening or even liking you. "Scared it might be too smart" you squint as his joke. "Are you calling me stupid you skxawng" you growl and reach out smacking him on his head like you would lo'ak. He looks at you in shock and then you realize what you've done "oh fuck I am so sorry" you say frantic dipping under the water swimming away face flushed with sheer horror.
He felt your hand make contact with his head and stared at you with shock and maybe anger but when he saw your face nearly laughed and he watched you flee following after you up until you reached the shore.
He did hand back just to admire you as you emerged from the water. He chokes the smirk dies in his throat watchin your curls bounce and drip from the water it held the way your body seemed to glitter as water clung and slid down your curves. He tilts his head unable to stop his shameless staring. He had forgotten his retaliation for your assault on his head, almost now he wanted something else.
You squeal as you make the first steps to the shore of the beach feeling a wet 3 fingered hand grip your ankle and pull you into shallow surf. "Where do you think you're going hmmm you think im going to let you get away with that” he growls and yanks you back watching you fall into the sand and surf. You squeal and try to crawl away only to fall again being turned on your back your hair flowing in the shallow water as you look up at him still struggling to escape the unknowingly playful wrath of Ao’nung. He chuckles watching you press and push on his chest and arms as you tried to move away. He grips your wrists and presses them to the sand "I have you….now” he growl his voice rumbling in your ear. You look up at him heart racing, eyes wide staring into his eyes wondering if he was searching for something. The tension that formed between you both became thick and heated. Your heart begins to race becoming a bit shy under his gaze searing into your body, watching as he is expressions shift and change darkening a haze coming over them “ i have you” he growls again as if the repetition would realign his thoughts, something had his focus.
You stare at him, heart still in your throat as his eyes burn over your body, a dangerous smirk playing at his lips as he flickered over the length of your form still wet from the ocean and a sand in your hair. You gasp feeling his hand leave your wrist as he leans closer to you his smoldering gaze making your stomach tighten uncontrollably “i… have” he breaths out his fingers tracing over the side of your ribs down your waist pulling a whimper from you desperate needy “mmmnngh” you whine a bit ticklish but his fingers shot hot waves of nerves and arousal through your body straight to your core. You couldn’t deny since your laid eyes on Ao’nung he had every bit of your attention sure you had a crush on other Navi but nothing like this, you had no control over it. "I…" his voice rasps you stare up at him eyes wide as his rake over your panting form your faces now inches apart his large arm around your waist pressed to his torso as he pressed closer you you. "Ao'nung…." You whisper. You watch the way his eyes cloud over dilating “y/n” he growls back pressing his nose right below your ear inhaling. “You are lucky” he pulls away chuckling leaving you to calm your pounding heart and flushed face.
You walk around the village keeping as out of the way as possible you were only a few inches taller than the size of a Na’vi child so it wasn’t hard to duck and slip through others with little effort the motions distractions you from the whirlwind of events that happened on the beach just moments ago. “Y/n” you stop hearing a voice and turning to find the source seeing Ronal staring expectantly at her. “ come here you need to learn how to heal i will not be able to care for you all the time you should learn” she says firmly it lacked any coldness but had the tone of a strict mother who didnt take any form of no as an answer. You quickly walk to her seeing Tsireya and smile with a wave helping as well, you crouch down only to have a mortar and pestal shoved into your hands “mix” she says. You nod and start to work putting all the effort you had into to moving the ingredients together into a smooth paste. You handed it to Ronal who gave a approving hum and gave you another task. You felt right back in the heating tent with Moat and you couldn’t help but smile despite complaining of doing this in the forest doing it here made you smile not that you didnt like the forest, here you were learning something new. “ y/n you are doing well and learning quickly” tsireya smiles. You smile and nod “ i was tasked with healing the injured warriors with the omatikaya this comes naturally but learning the way your people do it is a new journey and makes the wait a little easier.
Eclipse came quicker than you expected and you look up looking to the sullys "I'm going for a walk ill be back in 2 hours" you call wanting to see the ocean at night… you'd seen the forest and every time it made your heart race but your heart soared in anticipation to see the ocean in darkness what came to life under bioluminescence. You walk past many pods trying to navigate in the dark before you missed your opportunity as the sun started to disappear the sky becoming a deep mystical purple. A hand grabbed your wrist casusing you to stop and you look up your heart jumping into your throat seeing Ao'nung realizing you walked right in front of his home he lived a bit off from everyone probably for privacy, his hair was out of its bun yet still braided the rest hanging loose down his back you nearly swoon now becoming greedy your wish changing wanting to see it this way more often.sure he looked good with the bun but his hair loose and free paired with the full sleeve of arm tattoos and the matching leg…. You let out a choked whine unable to suppress the desperate need you felt to once again trace your tongue over the dark lines that curve up his hip and down his pelvis past his tweng your mouth watering as your mind conjured sinful images of the base of his cock being tattooed. Your eyes rake over his body taking in his form in the darkness and the tahni that dotted his skin sparkled in the darkness displaying its pattern like trail on his teal skin. He looked good enough to eat and still beg for more.
Ao’nung had to will every part of himself not to let his tail sway and wag watching you stare and eyefuck him preening under you heated gaze tilting his head letting you taking you in himself how good you looked in metkayina clothing the shell pin your hair his first gift to you tilting his head crossing his arms chuckling while his question went on deaf ears. Had you been a Na’vi the subtle body language would have been a loud declaration of your feelings for him. But he could smell how he effected you, taking a deep breath his ears pressing back he wills his self control back in check deciding to ask the question again.
You stare at him blushing unable to stop your staring. "and where do you think you are going yawne" he asks his voice smug all the indication you needed pulling you close to him. You look up at him wanting nothing more than to trace the sparkling tahni on his face but instead answer "out to swim I want to see the ocean at night" you say. He chuckles and shakes his head "not by yourself and not out there come on" he says as you sigh now wishing you had just said nothing your plans ruined but you don't think you could have said anything different if you had a chance to answer again.
You go to protest only to get a sharp look up and down as if to say ‘do you really think you can get away from me’? You sigh following until he stops at the edge of the walk and slips into the water. You look down at him confused taking his outstretched hand letting him pull you into the water. “I’m not going to let you get hurt out there yawne, if you want to see the water at night i can show you right here where its safe” he hums treading water with you. You sigh gently knowing deep down he was correct as you feel your toes gently brush the sand you wade in the water it was perfect for watching the world change slowly you look up in the sky watching as the sun slip behind the planet that orbits pandora. You look around smiling your eyes going wide watching as everything came to life in vibrant colors. You couldn’t contain your amazement looking around light giggles of amazement escaping your throat. You look to Ao’nung and beam moving your arms and fingers through the water mesmerized by the way the dark water would burst and churn bright blue. You dive under water looking at everything waiting the fish that swim around you following them as your movements created more light.
Ao’nung watched you with an amused smile as you marveled and fawned over the glowing ocean and the animals as if they weren’t the same during the day. But watching you fall in love with his home made his ego swell in ways he didnt know possible to know that you preferred here to the forest prefer him to anyone else. His ears flick to the sound of your voice your laugh and sound of amazement always loving how breathless you become. He watched the light of the ocean swirl and caress your body with each movement his mouth running dry no matter what you did you were graceful more so in water. He watched your hair burst to life turning blue and aqua against the dark water a smile on his face as you played in the bioluminescence of the water letting the fish that dance. Around you travel through your open fingers and around your floating form.
You turn and swim to Ao’nung taking his hand in yours your fingers lightly tracing over the tanhi that dotted his hand “thank you Ao’nung” you say sweetly looking up at him gasping when you feel his arm snake around your waist and pull you closer to him “next time you want to see something tell me and i will show you okay yawne” you nod looking him over admiring his features your eyes captivated with his hair you reach up and run your fingers through his loose curls saying nothing slowly tracing down following the black lines on his shoulder down his bicep with your finger.
Swimming no matter how hard you practiced exhausted you and with the excitement only served to speed the process. You try to climb back of the walkway and make the long trek home but your body was heavy and tired. Making the simple task harder. You barely register the amused chuckle and the hand that help you up by your hips. “ another reason why you shouldn’t go out alone you can barely keep yourself up after only a few minutes of this” he teases picking you up bridal style as you begin to protest but make no effort to truly move him body instinctively pressing into his. “I’m sure you tire too after swimming for a long time.” You murmur feeling tired eyelids drooping “we aren’t talking about my stamina because if we were id still be going” he looks down at you marking “ well into sunrise.” You blush turning your head away at the double entendre he had just put into the air around them hearing his deep amused chuckle now somehow wide awake.
You look around the trip back to your home shorter than you realize before coming to the realization this was Ao’nung marui making your heart race “ im not sending you back when you can barely walk “ you cut him off shaking your head. “ no i just need to sit down and catch my breath and i will be fine” you lie your body was becoming lead unable to move the safeness you feel wrapped in his arms mixed with the late night swimming a lethal sleeping draught. “ fine sit down for 5 minutes then try to go home” he insists sitting you down before laying in his hammock. You watch him lay down bitting your bottom lip racking over his form, on his back one arm behind his head his loose hair messily cradling his face. His broad chest moving up and down with his slow breathing his tattooed arm on full display your eyes tracing the dark lines down to his hands before skipping to the dark lines that followed the defined v line down below his tewng…oh what you wouldn't give to be held in his arms all night it was probably comfortable. You lean on the side of the hammock for support another wave of exhaustion washing over your consciousness your eyes drooping as you wanted nothing more than to lay on his chest sleep. The world shift causing your eyes to flutter open and look into Ao’nung’s eyes seeing he’d pulled you into his hammock and onto his chest. “Just relax and sleep” he mutters running his fingers through your long hair admiring the softness. You press your face into the curve of his neck now suffocated in him; salt, water, sun,the floral scent of pandora soap a combination you took to memory as you curled your arm around the back of his neck “i promise to be gone by…..morning” you sigh your body slowly relaxing as you sprawled yourself on his chest.
He chuckles wrapping his arm around your back pressing his face into your head his ears pressing to his skull as unconsciously hold you closer inhaling your sweet scent closing his eyes taking a deep sigh falling asleep your smaller form pressed against his.
Morning came faster than either of you liked but it didn't break the little bubble in Ao’nung's mauri. You were still sleeping last night taken so much of the little energy you had, snuggling closer to his body you nuzzle deeper into his neck your lips presssed to the skin in the crook of his neck. Ao’nung slow emerged from sleep immediately aware of you on his body and fingers immediately urn through your thick mass of hair curling and looking his digits as he massages your scalp and caresses your hair. This moment he now greedily craved every morning to be the first thing you wake up to and vice versa. But as much as he wanted to hold you hostage his mother would come looking for you if you missed your lessons. He stares at you taking another selfish minute to admire you his tsawksyul and the way your skin came to life under the sun as you slept tracing his finger tips down your spine and over the curve of your hip down your thigh. His ears twitch hearing a soft moan leave your lips before nuzzling closer to him taking a deep breath and settling back into sleep. Now he really didn’t want to let you go but the longer he sat the more likely someone would ruin this moment and he rather do it on his own terms. “Wake up tilor” he mutters tapping your back gently as he shifted “ wake up you have lessons with my mother today” he says chuckling when you groan and snuggle deeper into his body “ no comfy 5 more minutes” your sleepy voice grumbled causing him to flat out laugh “bold aren’t you hogging my bed then asking for more time to sleep when my mother is going to come looking for you soon… wake up" he murmurs in your. Your eyes flutter open after adjusting to the sunlight you jolt up right now straddling his torso. "Oh fuck I'm late" you gasps your hair a wild mess half covering your face but a wild fro of waves and curls as if your hair had just awoken too.
You hear a deep chuckle and look down at the smirking metkayina warrior below you looking smug "yes you are by maybe 30 minutes you have about 10 more before my mother comes looking" he says in an unbothered tone. You groan great way to show respect y/n show up late to lessons. "I shouldn't have stayed out so long" you grumble smoothing your hair down back arching as you stretch a high-pitched whine escaping your lips. "You should be fine my mother is quite fond of you" he hums out his voice breathless. You feel his gaze burning into you suddenly making you feel shy and a bit self conscious unable to make full eye contact.
He smirks but reaches up his fingers brushing your cheek guiding your face to look back at his watching as you hastily pin your hair into a half up half down do using his shell pin to keep it together. "And how do you know that." She says softly looking at him. He chuckles his hand now softly resting on your hip "she has a way of saying it without saying it you are learning healing techniques of our people from her personally" he hums rubbing his thumb on your hip bone with his eyes grazing over your form. You shiver and blush "I suppose that is true" you say softly and look down at him smiling "thank you Ao’nung for letting me stay and for last night it seems every new experience I have is with you" you smile and move to get out of the hammock. You gasp feeling his grip tighten a silent command not to move. You stare at him confused watching as he sat up slowly shifting the angle of your hips pushing you forward hands now on his chest.
You blush feeling his face press into your hair inhaling only to exhale saturating the strands of your hair in his scent before pressing a kiss behind your ear "I hope to give you many more tsawksyul now go" he murmurs in your ear nuzzling his nose into that junction one more time before letting you go. Quickly you run as fast as you can back to the sullys Mauri for another sarong to tie around her hips. "Hi sorry I missed breakfast I overslept I need to get to Ronal" you rush tying it around your hips. They stare at you a bit shocked Jake had a stupid grin on his face so did Lo’ak. You roll your eyes and shake your head seeing a amused Neytiri "y/n after your lessons we need to speak" she says softly. She says as you move to leave. "Okay tiri I promise" you call rushing out unaware of the reason for their looks.
You arrived to lessons with tsireya and Ronal seeing a slightly irritated Ronal. "Sorry I'm so sorry I overslept after swimming too long last night I'm so sorry" you begin bowing your head trying to look as remorseful as possible only to be met with a look of surprise and was it amusement or mild happiness. You looked to Tsireya who was practically shining like the sun with happiness "next time be more cautious with your time" Ronal murmurs before giving them lessons and tasks to do.
You walk with Tsireya knowing she had to talk to Neytiri before she could join them for a swim. "So why were you and your mother looking at me like that when I was late your mother doesn't seem like the kind to allow that." You say to her laughter "normally no but its because of what you did or rather what you didn't say you did." She says. You stop confused "I'm not following," tsireya smiles "so how was your night sleeping with Ao'nung?" You blush brightly and covered your face "how the hell did you even know that holy fucking shit" you exclaim face flushed she laughs again "you can't smell it but everyone one can you reek of Ao'nung's scent from head to toe even your hair your hair having the strongest scent." You blush remembering how he exhaled into your hair and how you slept in the same hammock. "He….. he I'm going to pluck his eyeballs out from his skull" you hiss trying to calm your raging embarrassment.
She laughs and pats your shoulder "but I did hear from the other hunters he reeked of you as well….honestly I've never seen him this territorial so quickly." She murmurs as your part ways.
You enter seeing Neytiri and Jake and you instantly turn red “ before you say anything” you groan hearing Jake begin to chuckle and you feel like drowning in the deepest part of the lagoon reefs. Neytiri giggles “ since you know then i have to ask is he courting you” Jake seems to stiffen a little from that notion as not everyone liked the concept of Neytiri and him getting together not too long ago. You shake your head the shell pin in your hair glittering as you move. Neytiri glances in your hair and then sighs “ that is all after all the reason i wanted to talk to was about the fact his scent covers yours. You groan and walks away but you never really made an effort to wash it away as you swam and interacted with others unaware of the pleased set of eyes following you as you wore his scent all day making a point to scent mark you in some way.
3 weeks went by quicker than you expected. Maybe it was the constant diving lessons by the chief's son Ao’nung, or the other days with the sullys helping Neytiri with meals, watching tuk and helping her pick out shells on the beach. Your favorite was with kiri you never judged her and her strong connection to Eywa in fact you admired and supported her for it. You even found yourself in healing lessons with Ronal and Tsireya. That always made you nervous being around Ao’nung mother and father you know how much they do not trust sky people and yet they are never not kind. There is never any disdain but you do receive Ronal’s sharp tongue when you are distracted or underperforming in lessons it reminded you of the way a mother would scold her child. Tonowari even helped you in the basics of making a fishing net which was the easiest to master the material was a little bit more flexible than the material of the omatikaya nets. Despite not being able to connect with Eywa hunt or ride an ilu you are fitting in well not even minding the little clothing which you just saw as versatile swimwear. As well as said chief son taking up every moment of free time you had that wasn’t already claimed from taking long walks to night swims in the shallowest parts of the lagoon, somehow slowly making sleeping in his arms such a regular occurrence that no one even bats an eye anymore if anything everyone seems to be waiting for something.
You sit on the beach looking out at the water relaxing a part of you trying not to focus on the fact a month was over knowing that you’d have to wait a but longer before you could have your avatar but in reality you could wait a little longer its not like you didnt enjoy your time here. You stand deciding to take a walks and find a few shells not only for herself but for tuk and kiri to weave.
You came back from your walk to see the helicraft from high camp and something in your heart told you don't run over there it's bad news. You looked over seeing Norm talking to Jake and Tonowari watching as all 3 made eye contact with you. You quickly start walking again not wanting to face the potential bad news….. 50/ 50 chance but when did you become so scared you went head first into battle against her race saw battle wounds even hunted in the forest but the concept of avatar driving now sacred you. You sit by the sand looking out to the water missing Ao'nung tasked with helping a hunting party today you needed him right now was it for emotional support or as an excuse to escape. You sigh laying back closing your eyes willing your fears to subside.

You made your way through the stuffy bar, eager to finally try a Colombian specialty of a drink. You had done some researching from home, and it excited you. You knew you wanted to try the traditional aguardiente you had read about, and that was exactly what you were going to try.
You propped your elbows onto the counter of the bar, liquids smearing against your elbows as you leaned over the bar to place your order to the bartender. With a nod directed toward you, he places the shot in front of you.
It’s clear as water and with shaky hands you empty the shot into your mouth. It’s strong in your mouth, and you wince slightly at the taste of anise lingering on your tongue. You’re not used to the heaviness of anise and liqueur in this way, and with an intake of breath you’re coughing roughly, having inhaled the fumes stuck in your mouth.
You wince as you hear a voice beside you, flagging down the bartender to get you something to take the edge off your coughing. The music is loud in your ears and you feel slightly uncomfortable in the given situation. You smile warily when something bubbly and orange is placed in front of you, a straw being presented to your lips.
You open them reluctantly before taking a big sip of orange soda. You sigh in content before you take another sip, feeling the way the stranger beside you is eyeing you up and down. You feel the stranger’s eyes linger on your exposed ribcage, barely covered by the silver, glittering low-cut top you’re wearing over your bralette.
“First time tasting guaro?” His voice is smooth as velvet, the words rolling off his lips sensually as he brings his elbow to the bar, leaning his chin against the palm of his hand, watching you as you wipe your mouth with the back of your hand.
For the first time, you turn and look at him. And holy shit. The white button-down he’s wearing is neat, very neat, the mustache on his upper lip so perfectly groomed, his brown eyes watching you intensely as you stand there, possibly looking like a fish out of water - gaping and lacking breaths.
He’s hot, beautiful even, and you’re easily taken aback by the way he moves when he orders a double whiskey for himself. His hair is slightly unruly - tousled to what you would call something between perfect and what would be left after hands had run through it under… Stop it. He’s a stranger, for god’s sake. You bite your lip, trying to slowly compose yourself as he looks away, bringing a stray strand of hair behind your ear.
“First time in Colombia,” you tell him and take another sip of the soda he’s bought you. The right side of his lips draw up slightly as he nods and you feel a surge of heat go straight from your heart, into your cunt. God damn it he was a sight for sore eyes.
“You up for anything else than a shot of guaro and soda?” You can’t tell if he’s teasing or not, with the way one of his eyebrows raises as he turns back to you, but you shrug slightly before moving a tad closer to him, to hear him better over the noisiness of the bar.
“If you’re offering to show me what’s good, then I’m not one to decline.” You retort with a sly smile, grinning inwardly when he braces himself slightly against the bar. You watch as he flags down the bartender yet again, ordering something you don’t hear over the music.
You blink slightly when another six shots are placed in front of you, slightly scaring you. Was he trying to get you drunk and take advantage of you? You weren’t really sure, but… you decided now was the time to get drunk with a stranger in a stuffy bar in a city you just landed in.
“Three for you, three for me.” He says as he moves two at a time, three toward you and three toward himself. “Let me know what you think.” You grasp the first shot in between your fingers at the same time as him and bring it up to your lips simultaneously with him. Then you halt.
“Wait.” You stop, still holding the shot by your lips. You watch as he raises his eyebrow just once, yet again, as if it was the twitch of a muscle. “I don’t even know your name.”
He smirks before letting out a short puff of laughter, shaking his head slightly. You pout slightly at his reaction before you decide to defend yourself. “What? I wanna know the name of the handsome stranger whom I’m about to get drunk with.”
His teeth tug his bottom lip between them swiftly, before you both down your shots at the same time, maintaining eye contact through the whole ordeal. He leans in closer to your ear to shield his words from the noise. You can smell the alcohol radiating between the two of you - you’re not sure if it’s your own breath or his - but it’s good. New. Exciting.
“I’m Javi.”
─────•~❉᯽❉~•─────
You have no recollection of how much time you and Javi spend at the bar. The two of you hit it off so easily, like you’d known each other for a long time. Maybe it was the alcohol continuously spilling in between you, or the fact that he was charming and transparent with you.
You learned that he was pushing 40, had worked at the Colombian embassy for a couple of years as an agent in the Drug Enforcement Administration, and was currently on leave after a gunshot to the shoulder. He told you it barely hurt anymore, but you definitely noticed slower movements from his injured shoulder.
You also learned he hated being on leave, and that he was better off working his days away than relaxing and being bored, as he said so himself. It was a very last-minute idea he’d gotten, to go out on a Wednesday evening to get drunk, but he made it clear that it was more than worth it.
He told you about how toe-curling he found the telenovelas constantly playing on the only three channels his tv could take in his building, how he almost only listened to American artists like Lionel Richie and Prince (even though The Supremes were his favorites) and how he always had a cup of coffee before and after every meal.
With the number of cigarettes he smoked, you wondered how he was able to keep his shirts so white. Every time he put out one, barely five minutes passed before he’d lit another. You wondered where they kept coming from - if he had a whole carton on him, just for the sake of it. You remembered hearing somewhere that smoking excessively would leave awful stains on everything, but so far, you didn’t see where that statement was coming from.
You told him about yourself too, and how boring you found your parents to be. He laughed with you as you told him one of the most embarrassing moments you had experienced with your parents, which they hadn’t found embarrassing at all.
How you had trouble finding someone like-minded like you. You told him how you hated when your parents would set you up with whomever friends’ sons, they were meeting, as if they could find a perfect fit for you to date.
That was one of the main reasons you hadn’t had a boyfriend yet. Because there just weren’t any alluring men in your city that could be a potential man for you. They were just boys. You weren’t even sure they had proper knowledge about the female genitalia.
You told him that your favorite book was none other than the classic Pride and Prejudice, how you’d read Jane Eyre more than ten times because of the storyline Jane has, which you find so heartbreakingly beautiful, and how you sort of relate to it.
You also tell him about how hard it is getting through uni as an English Lit major, with the period you’ve just finished. “Right now, I hate the renaissance. I mean… Shakespeare is amazing and all but analyzing so many of his works in tow of each other is just tiring.” You sigh and take another sip of the rum and coke in front of you. Javi is listening to you intently, watching your every move as you explain.
“I mean, Cervantes is truly one of the best Spanish writers of all time, and Don Quixote is a masterpiece that deserves all the recognition it’s getting, but I also feel like we’re all oblivious to everything else it stands for.” Your breathing is heavy as you finally stop yourself from rambling and you look at Javi with wide eyes.
“I’m sorry, I’m… rambling...” you feel the heat spreading through your cheeks with a giggle, wondering if you’ve scared him off completely by impersonating a waterfall. You can feel his eyes on you when you look away, like they’re trying to get through to something hidden inside you.
“It’s alright.” Your eyes return to his face and there’s that smile again - it makes your heartbeat faster in your chest. “You’re passionate about literature. It’s impressive.” He reaches out, and for a moment you’re sure he’s going to take a hold of your hand. Instead, he diverts his hand when he notices you watching him and brings it back to rub at the back of his neck. He breathes out, whispering out another word you can barely make out. “Impressive.”
“Oh… Okay,” your words are too barely a whisper, and you’re unsure if he’s heard it. You feel all the shyness that hadn’t been present all night slowly seep into your body while watching him through your lashes as he takes another swig of his whiskey before lightning another cigarette.
You silently admire the way the orange hue makes its way toward his lips, slowly dissolving the tobacco. It was almost like art - watching him suck the dangerous fumes into his lungs before exhaling the white smoke. You watch as his fingers tap the body of the cigarette, flicking the spent ashes into the tray on the bar.
He sighs, his hands find back to its original spot on the bar, and you discretely reach out to caress the underside of his arm, where the white sleeve of his shirt is stretched over his tan skin. It’s like the last few hours didn’t happen, and you’re back to strangers. It’s a bold move of you to even reach out for him.
Why did it have to get awkward now? You think as you swiftly play with the hem of his sleeve, watching your fingers as you twirl a thread around them. His hand finds yours and you look up at him, catching the way the lights reflect in his eyes. He has put out the last of the cigarette just seconds before, his exhale still white from smoke.
You close your eyes slightly, enjoying the way the smell of nicotine lingered on him. You had never been one to like the smell of cigarette smoke, but the way he wore it made your nerve ends tingle. What you wouldn’t do to taste the nicotine on his lips. You flick your eyes up, meeting his gaze again.
His face is closer now than when he whispered in your ear, and you find yourself blushing again. You really want to kiss him. His lips look so kissable as well, like… like soft, plump pink rose petals. You felt every sense of restraint disintegrate slowly, while you unhurriedly gather enough courage to lean into the heat radiating off his body.
You’re watching his face as you deliberately lean in, closer, closer, until your lips are resting just over his. You should be disgusted with the smell of his cigarette filling your nostrils, but the way it mixes with the scent of him, you find yourself loving it. Craving it. Wanting more.
“Don’t want to take advantage of you,” he whispers against your lips, the gentle brush of his lips against yours setting your every nerve ending on fire, causing electricity to burst through your limbs. “Want you comfortable,” he breathes again, tilting his head just the slightest before flicking his eyes over your face. “Want to taste you.”
He takes in the gradual reddening of your cheeks and the way your lashes rest against them. “I am comfortable,” you murmur, before tilting your head sparsely, your lips finally meeting his. The feeling that hits you is indescribable, like somebody has ignited a thousand firecrackers behind your eyes and in your body.
It sounds cliché - the first kiss with someone drawing out those reactions in you. It’s the cliché of every teenage romance movie you’ve ever seen, like the way fireworks go off behind them or the casual leg-bend that happens every time. That’s what it feels like, though.
His lips move against yours ever so softly, his tongue gently swiping across your lower lip as his hand finds the side of your neck. The rough pads of his fingers are considerate and tender as they softly caress your skin, his touch leaving a trail of fire in their wake.
You silence a whimper into his mouth as his tongue finally gains the access it’s begging for, the tip of it gently meeting yours. It’s unfamiliar, both the feeling of a foreign tongue in your mouth and the coarse feeling of his mustache against your upper lip.
It feels amazing, though. Your fingers, previously playing with the sleeve of his shirt, are now gripping the front of it tightly, holding him close. Your heart is beating so loud against your ribcage you’re afraid he’s going to hear it over the deep bass still flowing through the speakers of the club.
You find it hard to breathe, mixed with the breathlessness of kissing him, finally, and the lack of air from you not wanting to breathe into his mouth directly. Your lungs are struggling with the lack of air, and you squeeze your eyes tighter, to hold on for as long as possible.
Your parting comes sooner than you would’ve liked - way sooner - you silently wish that your lips would’ve stayed connected for eternity. His forehead is resting against yours, your breaths mingling in the sparse space between the two of you. You flick your eyes upwards slightly, taking in his closed eyes before they fall again, focusing on the way his shoulders are rising languidly.
Before you know it, he’s kissing you again - pulling you closer to him with one single pull. His arms are holding you tightly, one hand swiftly caressing your back as the other holds the back of your neck, softly caressing your hairline.
This time it’s your mouth that’s insistent on getting another taste of him. Your tongue explores the soft pillow that’s his bottom lip, tasting the lingering essence of tobacco and whiskey. A small moan escapes your lips as his tongue meets yours in the opening of his mouth, pressing against yours to let him back into your mouth.
Your hand comes up to grasp the back of his neck, fingers intertwining in the short, dark brown curls resting at the nape of his neck, urging him on. Your other hand is working its way under the arm that’s holding your body close, landing against his shoulder blade like it’s where it belongs.
His mustache is tickling your upper lip as his mouth ravishes yours in the most intense kiss you’ve ever experienced. Well, it was easy to make out the intensity scale with the two kisses you had ever experienced. This one definitely took the crown.
You didn’t even know how it had come to this point, kissing a stranger on your first night on vacation - well, not exactly a stranger anymore, but certainly not a previously known acquaintance. All you knew was that it felt so damn good, and that you wanted to stay right there in his arms forever.
Your hand slides down swiftly, feeling up the side of his body, and there’s no doubt he’s in shape with the number of tensing muscles you feel under his shirt as he holds you, but it’s also clear to you that he is indeed an older man.
There is a soft bagging over the top of where his belt is resting on his slim hips, and it ignites something inside you, that you hadn’t even thought possible. There’s no doubt this man has experience, but you’re not exactly keen to find out just how much. All you want to do, is to stay lost in the flurry of emotions you’re feeling at this point.
In a shortage of breath from both of you, you finally peel yourselves from each other, taking in the others disheveled state. There’s a slight pause between the two of you, before you both break out into grins, soon thereafter joined by giggles and laughter.
You finish the rest of your drink swiftly, watching him over the rim of your glass before you put it down. “One more?” He smirks and you offer him a smile, before you nod.
“If you’re offering.” You watch as he nods before signaling the bartender again, for the 10th time that evening. You watch as he makes your drink behind the bar before placing it in front of you. He looks between you and Javi swiftly, before speaking up.
“Cerramos en 20” he says, leaving you two again, but this time with a bill in front of Javi. You look it over with a smile, wondering how much you had to contribute with. Javi blocks your view before pulling out his wallet from his back pocket, throwing a good amount of pesos on the bar to cover the bill.
Your mouth falls open when he turns to you, his eyebrow raised at your expression. “He should be the one tipping us for the show we just gave him.” He laughs, and you can hear it comes all the way from his stomach. You can’t help but join in. Well, that’s one way to say it.
“They’re closing in 20. Finish your drink,” he pulls on the leather jacket he draped over the back of the bar stool he’d been sitting on, and damn if that one piece of garment doesn’t suit him startingly. “You mind if I walk you home? I’d like to make sure you’re getting home safe, so I have a chance of seeing you again.”
You can’t help but smile at his question, giggling as you quickly down the drink the bartender has placed in front of you, before you’re getting off the bar stool you were sitting on. “Sure.” You whisper in his ear as you walk out of the bar with Javi hot on your heels.
You can feel his eyes on your hips as you saunter out of the bar, twirling once to see if he’s still following you. He is. And his eyes are trained on you like a hawk on its prey. His lips tug between his teeth as he watches the curve of your body being engulfed in the dim rays of the rising sun.
It’s like you’re some kind of ethereal being right then, sent to him by the gods. He never truly believed in heaven and anything else superstitious before this exact moment in time. Seeing you right at that moment - it changed something within him. He usually did the whole relationship without the aspect of love. Scratch that - he never did proper relationships.
Yet he couldn’t help but think that you, at that moment, could be a part of his future. He felt his heart pick up the pace when you smiled at him, as you reached out your hand for him to take. It was like he imagined what your whole future could look like, right there.
He steps out into the morning light overshining Bogotá as he takes your hand, his eyes reacting poorly to the already brightly illuminated city. He brings a hand to rest against his brows as he halts in his steps, squinting his eyes to get his vision back. As the whiteness clears from his eyes, the first thing he sees is you.
It’s in stark contrast to the dim lighting of the bar - out in the sun he can see just how beautiful you are. He can’t pinpoint exactly what it is, but he feels his heart pick up the pace again. He feels like a teenager again. Your voice fills his ears and at first, he doesn’t really hear what you say. Your plump pink lips are just moving angelically, taking his breath away.
Then you’re pulling him by the hand, and he follows you. He’s amazed that you manage to hurry through so many small passageways, since it’s only your second day in Bogotá. He watches your back the whole time you’re leading him wherever the two of you are going.
He notices a constellation of freckles on your shoulder that slithers its way up the back of your neck, and he finds himself wanting to kiss the skin there. He almost runs into you when you come to a stop, turning to face him with rapid movements.
“How do you still have this much energy?” He breathes - he is out of breath. He watches you, your chest rising rapidly as your smile beams at him.
“You’ve paid for my drinks through the night. Let me repay the favor.” You grin as you gesture toward the small restaurant you’ve led him to. The small restaurant is already buzzing with life, and Javi still has no recollection of what time it is.
It doesn’t really matter when he’s in your company. “I walked past this place yesterday when I was exploring. I wanted to try their pancakes and a cup of real Colombian coffee.”
His hand is still intertwined with yours, and you’re swinging it slightly between you, as if it would help you convince him to let you buy breakfast. He nods then, making you smile even wider.
“Guess I could use a cup of coffee that isn’t homemade.”
─────•~❉᯽❉~•─────
The pancakes you’re eating are the perfect combination of sweet and spongy dough. You almost moan when the freshly made syrup-glazed bite fills your mouth. You notice Javi watching you from the other side of the table, and you offer him a close-mouthed smile.
Your cheeks are full of pancakes, and in that moment, he realizes just how young you are compared to him. It unsettles his stomach just slightly - he’s never been one to overthink hooking up with someone, but right at this moment he’s starting to second think his decision.
He’s afraid he’s gonna be the one who ruins you completely with who he is, and the story he has. It’s never been easy for him to have relationships. He even had the audacity to leave his former fiancée at the altar.
He never knew why he was unable to commit himself, yet he found so much hate within him, diverted at himself. He just didn’t understand the impulses he would have. He could fuck three different women in the same day, if he wanted to. He didn’t even know where his libido came from.
He watches you as you chew your way through your sugary breakfast, all while occasionally taking a few sips of your coffee. He sips his own coffee in silence, just observing you as you fill your empty stomach. He should be eating something.
When you finally lean back against the backrest of the chair, your plate cleared and your mouth swallowing the last bite of pancake, you offer him another smile. This time it’s with teeth, though.
He feels his heart beat like that again, and he doesn’t fucking understand why you’re doing this to him. He knows he shouldn’t be feeling this way about someone he just met. Yet he can’t help himself.
He watches you without a word, simply observing you as you look around the small restaurant, the street in front of it bustling with life by now and your eyes observing every person walking by.
He admires the way your tongue darts out to lick your bottom lip, your tongue most likely finding some residing syrup. It runs over your lips twice more and he feels a jolt run from his heart right into his groin.
It ignites everything inside his body, and he closes his eyes slightly, imagining things he definitely shouldn’t be imagining at this point. He barely knows you. He sort of feels bad. Yet he can’t stop himself.
When he opens his eyes, you’re looking directly at him. “Where did your head run off to?” You tilt your head with a slight smile playing on your lips, and he finds himself getting lost in your eyes again.
This is the first time he’s actually getting to look into them properly. Dazzling orbs are watching him through lashes, compelling him to do things he’s sure he’s going to regret later. He’s simply mesmerized by your eyes. He feels like you can see right through the barrier he’s been working on and putting up for so many years to shield himself from the problems of the world.
“You really don’t wanna know, hermosa.” The words leaving his lips make your heart beat faster in your chest, again, and oh man if this man isn’t going to be the end of you. Even with the little-to-no experience you had, you were sure you would let him do anything he wanted with you.
You scoot to the edge of the chair you’re sitting on, feeling a sudden surge of confidence overcome you as you let your chin rest on your palm. Your foot slowly extends out, finding the inside of his calf under the table before it makes its way north lazily. “Try me. Maybe I’m thinking the same thing.”
He feels a breath getting stuck in his throat. That he definitely did not expect from you. With the little knowledge he had about you, he hadn’t expected you to come onto him so strong. He definitely didn’t mind your interest in him - you were a beautiful woman.
He leans forward slightly, over the table to get closer to you. He doesn’t need the whole restaurant knowing their business. “Maybe I’m not the man for you, hermosa.” Your hand unexpectedly takes his, and he yet again finds himself taken aback.
“Maybe I’ll let me decide for myself.” You whisper to him, before retreating yourself from his personal space. You dig through your small handbag to find your purse, pulling out pesos to cover the bill along with a tip. You rise from your seat with a smile, scooting the chair back under the table.
He’s reluctant to follow your movements, so you speak up. “Were you going to follow me home, or have you changed your mind?” You challenge him as you watch him stand as well. His eyebrow raises slightly at your statement before he signals you to leave the restaurant with his hand.
“So, where do you live?” You ask him as you both leave the restaurant. He walks beside you with his hands deeply buried within the front pockets of his jeans as if he’s scared of touching you.
You walk beside him with your hands clenched at your sides, desperately wanting to touch him again. There’s something infuriating and infatuating about him at the same time. It’s not easy to read him, and he knows it. He loves it.
“I live in one of the apartments ordinated to me by the organization. They have some apartments close to the office.” He tells you, and the rest of the way home to your rented apartment is with small talk between the two of you. You feel the distance between you now, like he regrets the fire he undeniably has started within your body.
You turn to him when you finally stand in front of the small apartment, you’re currently residing in. You offer him a small smile, unsure of what to do at this point. How were you ever going to say goodbye to him? You didn’t really want to.
His fingers move a strand of hair out of your face before he’s grasping your head in his hands again, placing his lips against yours again, finally. You realize by then that you have been craving the feel of his lips against yours, the smell of him once again making its way to your nostrils. Tobacco, whiskey and something you can’t place - maybe sandalwood or cedar.
Your lips move against one another slowly - sinfully - and you catch yourself grasping the front of his jacket within your fists so tightly it hurts. His hands are persistently holding your face close to his, further deepening the kiss.
The kiss leaves you breathless yet again, and you find yourself craving more and more of him. You want to know everything about him. You want all of him. You detach your lips from his with a sigh, your eyes closed as you await something, anything.
Yet nothing happens. When you open your eyes to look at him, he’s already watching you. You turn your body slightly, digging through your handbag to find your key. You unlock the door swiftly as he watches you, slightly out of breath himself. He watches you step into your apartment, feeling a slight sense of anguish at the way you’re not inviting him in. Or so he thought.
“Would you like to come in?” Your words are low and soft as you ask him, almost like you’re afraid he’s going to refuse. Your heart falls in sync with your face, as he hides it in his face. You watch as he rubs his fingers over his eyes with a sigh.
“I better get home. I need to sleep for a bit. I am an old man, after all.” He tells you and watches the way your face falls. You nod though, as if you’re letting him know that you’re alright with it, even though he can clearly tell you aren’t. “I’ll come pick you up later today? Maybe I can show you some of the city.”
Your face brightens instantly, and yet again he has to remind himself just how young you are. He knows already he’s going to hurt you, but how he’s going to do it is unclear to him.
“I would love that. I think I may need some sleep as well.” You say with a smile before you’re stepping back out through the door to place another kiss against his lips. You know by now that you will never get tired of the feeling of his mustache against your skin. And boy were you wanting to feel his mustache against other parts of your skin as well.
“I’ll see you then.” He says as he departs from your front step, and you watch him as he walks down the road, occasionally looking over his shoulder to see if you’re still watching him, before he turns around a corner, and out of your sight.

Last Night
Stepping out of your car, you’re instantly suffocated by the thick humidity of the West Virginia evening. The sun paints cotton candy across the sky as it sets behind the trees on the mountainous horizon, the almost full moon hot on its tail, slowly rising on the other side of the sky.
The blood moon comes tomorrow, and from the old folk tales your mom used to tell about the deep West Virginia countryside, some weird shit goes down under the crimson moon. You never really believed her. What all could happen in lil ol’ Boone County, anyway?
The moment you step into the refreshing, air-conditioned Duck Tape, you’re immediately greeted by a loud call of your name.
“Y/N!” You smile and wave at Jimmy.
Clyde looks up and smiles at you as you come and sit down at the bar next to Jimmy. He serves the customer before coming over to talk with you and the eldest Logan.
You lean over the bar to give him a kiss, earning a couple hoots and hollers from the bar crowd, which made you both laugh as you pull away.
“How was work, buttercup?” He asks, wiping off some glasses. “Weren’t ya doin’ that one presentation today? How’d that go?”
You’re always so flattered that Clyde actually pays attention when you talk about work stuff. Most guys just smile and nod, but Clyde actually listens and remembers. He even remembered your one year anniversary at the company you currently work for, sending you takeout from your favorite place along with some flowers.
“Yeah, it was alright. Boring as hell, but the partners seemed pleased, so that’s all I can really ask for at this point.”
Both he a Jimmy give a small chuckle, nodding before Clyde mixes your favorite drink, setting it down in front of you a few minutes later. You thank him, and the three-way conversation continues before the bar door swings open.
Something about the man’s entrance makes you look over, already smelling trouble as he steps over the threshold. His eyes are glued on you, a smug smirk etched on his expression.
A hush falls over the patrons for a few seconds, all eyes on the leather-clad man. Clyde’s hackles are immediately up, body tense as the mystery man saunters over, plopping himself down onto the vacant stool next to yours.
Things on the floor continue as normal, the chatter picking back up, and you subtly scoot a little closer to Jimmy.
“Bartender?” A thick New York accent calls.
Clyde walks over, plastering a fake smile on his face, seemingly the epitome of southern hospitality.
“What can I getcha, sir?”
The man gives Clyde a once-over and snickers. “No, seriously, where’s the bartender? I’d like a drink.”
Your grip clenches around your glass. You absolutely hated it when people were dicks about Clyde’s hand.
“Seriously, I am the bartender.” He states firmly. “So, what can I get ya?”
His tone sends a chill down your spine. Normally, Clyde just shuts down whenever someone starts poking fun at his missing hand, but tonight, there was a certain air of frustration, of dominance.
You just thought he’d finally cracked, after years of dealing with this bullshit. But as you would learn, there was an alternate explanation for his sudden outwardly alpha-like behavior.
The guy seems to back off a little bit, just asking for a cold Coors straight from the bottle. You startle a bit when Clyde slams the bottle down on the counter in front of him, and you could swear his eyes turn a light grey for a second before returning to the dark brown pools you’re familiar with.
Everything’s quiet for a little while, the man sipping his beer in silence, before he turns to you. He doesn’t say anything at first, simply allowing his eyes to drink in your seated figure.
“What’s your name, baby girl?” The beer smell of his breath is strong as he leans in. “You lookin’ for someone to keep you company tonight?”
You roll your eyes. Douchebag. “Nope. I’m perfectly content just sitting here, thanks.”
Clyde’s watching the interaction like a hawk as he makes someone’s drink. It’s a wonder he can concentrate on the drink when his thoughts and eyes are glued to you.
His slimy hand touches down on your bare thigh, just above your knee, and you jump in your seat. He grins, trailing it up as he leans in even closer.
“Are you sure? I could show you a real good time...”
Glass shatters from behind the bar and then, Clyde’s grabbing the man by his biker jacket, tossing him onto the floor with an almost superhuman strength. You stand up, appalled, as the man on the hardwood scrambles to get up.
An icy grey begins to frost over his sweet chocolate irises as Clyde clenches his fists by his side.
“Don’t ya dare touch ma girl, ye pervert.” He growls, voice lower than you’ve ever heard it. “Someone ought to show ya what respect looks like.”
The bar has fallen pin-drop silent, all sets of eyes focused in on the developing scene. He cocks his fist above his head, snarling as he readies to pounce on the helpless man.
It’s then that Jimmy hops up and puts himself between the two men, holding his hands up in front of Clyde. “Don’t do this t’ yerself. Ye know what’ll happen if ya do.”
This seems to bring him back, the warmness flooding back to his irises. His shoulders slump as he huffs softly, pushing past his older brother angrily, storming into his office and slamming the door behind him.
Shakily, the man stands and puts a twenty down on the table before running out of the bar, bell jingling against the wooden door as it eases shut after him.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The rare blood moon hangs in its place against the pitch black sky as you pull up to the Logan’s trailer home. There aren’t any stars in the clear night’s sky, despite it being the dead of summer, but you don’t think much of it as you approach the shadowed porch.
Moths flutter around the dimly flickering porch light while you peek through the windows, which were as black as the night. Not a single light was on.
Odd. The Pontiac’s parked in its normal spot outside.
You flip the threadbare ‘welcome’ mat up, revealing the rusting gold key beneath. Sticking it in the lock, you turn until the door pops open, an eerie creak accompanying it.
"Clyde?” You say, looking around the trailer’s living room as you flip the living room lights on.
You call for him again. Maybe he’s just taking a nap. “Clyde?”
Still no response.
Now, you’re getting worried. There’s no note, nothing noticeably out of place; in fact, it’s almost all too still. It gives you the creeps, how still and quiet it is in here.
The scent of suspicion thickens the air around you, and you just get the most awful feeling in your gut that something bad is happening or is about to happen.
Adrenaline begins to pump through your veins as you quickly walk around, peeking in the kitchen, and in the spare room. The air seems to thicken again the closer to draw to Clyde’s room, and you push the door open with bated breath.
You’re absolutely mortified at the sight before you.
Shreds of carpet, fabric, and mattress stuffing is scattered the floor, and giant claw marks have torn straight through the drywall. The blankets and comforter, at least the remains of them, are disheveled where they lay across the clawed-up mattress.
His vanity mirror is almost fully shattered, and the products that once sat atop are now tossed across the floor. The chilly summer’s night air flutters the curtains on the opened window above the bed.
The first thought that comes to mind is a bear attack of some kind. Now fully freaking out, you’re wondering how in the world a bear got into the trailer, and why it only seemed to attack Clyde’s room. You scramble to grab your phone from your purse with shaky hands, dialing Jimmy’s number in haste.
Was this one of the blood moon enigmas mom warned about? No, no, bear attacks are pretty common around here.
It takes a few rings before he picks up.
“Y/N?” He sounds out of breath, exhausted.
“Jimmy, hey. Do you know where Clyde is? I’m at the trailer, and--”
Something that sounds like a growl rips through the speaker, followed by a woman’s voice.
“Is everything oka--”
“Mellie, I can’t help ya right now! I’ll be there in a second!” He yells in the background. “Sorry Y/N, you were sayin’ somethin’?”
“No, it’s alright. I’m just at the trailer, and I peeked into Clyde’s room...”
“Ya didn’t touch anything, did ya?” His voice is rushed.
You shake your head, eyebrows furrowed. “Uh, no, but--”
The growl comes again, louder this time, and it almost sounds like it’s...a voice. A very deep and very animalistic one, but a voice nonetheless. And it was saying something, although you couldn’t really hear clearly enough.
“Jimmy, do you know where Clyde is?” You’re getting a little impatient.
“Don’t worry ‘bout Clyde, he’s okay, he’s, uhh, here with us.”
“Oh, uh, o-okay.”
But tonight was supposed to be your special night together.
“Y/N? Listen real close, now. I need ya to get outta the trailer and go home, right now. Don’t linger, and refrain from touchin’ anything in the trailer. Lock all yer doors n’ close all the windows when ya get back home, okay? ‘N don’t go outside for the rest’a the night.”
Okay, now you’re starting to get fearful. “What--”
“Jimmy!” Mellie’s panicked voice comes through the phone speaker again, this time a bit clearer. He curses under his breath.
Her cries clearly rattled the eldest Logan, and he quickly tells you to just do what he said and then hangs up in a frantic state.
You’re frozen for a moment, but then you quickly scurry outside to your car, frantically looking around as you scramble to fit the key in the drivers side door. By some miracle, you hold your hand steady enough to unlock it, quickly shutting the door and turning on the engine, peeling out of there like a madwoman.
Suddenly, as you go to pull out of the driveway, a strange apparition appears at the edge of the wood across the street. You squint, trying to figure out what the hell it is. Whatever it is, though, it’s panting heavily and looks...inhuman.
It’s standing on two legs, but its large, probably almost seven feet tall if you had to guess, and must’ve had some type of black fur or skin since it almost blends in with the darkened forest.
The reddish light of the moon is the only light that reflects upon this mystery creature, before it seems to notice your car idling in the driveway. The crisp light grey pupils seemingly glimpse into your soul as the creature looks upon you.
Clearly, now, you can decipher what exactly it is, although you’re in utter shock and skeptical to think it real: A werewolf.
You quickly put the car in reverse, slamming down on the gas, flying backwards for a few seconds before colliding with the trailer’s tin wall. Your head slams forward onto the steering wheel, trickles of blood dribble down your forehead and nose as your consciousness is lost.
When you come to, only a few minutes later, you groan as the welt forms on your forehead. You look around, groggily, seeing that your car is in drive but isn’t moving. Surely when you’d passed out, your foot would’ve come off the brake and you would’ve rolled away...
Stepping out carefully, you find that some bricks have been placed in front of all four tires, effectively keeping the car at a dead standstill.
Who in the world did this?
Then, you turn your head and walk slowly around to the front of your car, seeing the remnants of sharp teeth marks on your bumper. You’re frozen, a lump slowly crawling up your throat as the realization hits.
A low growl comes from behind you, and your worst fears have suddenly been realized. You slowly, carefully spin around on your heels, afraid that one wrong move may make you tonight’s surprise entree.
Your eyes meet the soul-piercing grey’s of the werewolf, the one you’d seen at the edge of the forest minutes earlier. The one that seemingly saved your life, but...how did a werewolf know what to do?
As you continue to gaze at the large being before you, you’re struck with a sense of familiarity, almost as if you’d met them before. Strange, because you can’t recall ever encountering a werewolf. Hell, you’ve never even seen a wolf before, other than in pictures. Surely you’d remember coming into contact with a seemingly impossible biological phenomenon such as this one.
His presence is scarily comforting, and you find yourself briefly wondering what it’d feel like to be enveloped in his woolen arms. Well, arm, technically speaking. This particular werewolf seems to be missing the lower half of his left paw.
Then, your mind connects the dots, and you’re shocked to your very core. It wasn’t a bear that attacked Clyde’s room, it was Clyde. This werewolf that’s standing before you is Clyde. That’s why Jimmy and Mellie sounded so frantic and breathless on the phone; they must’ve been trying to keep him contained.
But why? Werewolves usually recognize the important people in their human lives...right? That’s why he’d saved you from rolling off...
Your headlights’ reflection was speared by your figure, creating a shadow that covered most of Clyde’s form, except for the very tips of his paws, which had enormous claws emerging from beneath the thick layer of fur.
“Clyde?” You whisper, and he seems to soften for a moment, falling down on all threes.
Just as you swallow the lump in your throat and begin to cautiously approach the creature, hand outstretched to allow him to smell you, his eyes suddenly darken, the once snowy grey now more like the color of storm clouds.
He snarls, white teeth shining in the moon’s moody crimson-tinted reflection, and you immediately backtrack. Oh god, I’m fucked.
Your bottom collides with the front of your car, the engine thrumming lowly as it idles happily, grille warm from the machine inside. The headlights are now fully shining on the creature, fur shining under the bright lights as he approaches, lines of drool strung between his sharp fangs.
“C-Clyde, please,” You plead with the creature. “It’s m-me, Y/N, your g-girlfriend. You know m-me, you don’t w-wanna do t-this...”
It doesn’t seem to do much to dissuade him, the animal within now overshadowing the kind, gentle man you know and love. No, this creature is something else. This isn’t your Clyde.
The wolf stops short of the hood, where you’ve crawled up onto and are laying back, raising his nose up in the air, sniffing. You’re perplexed by this action, but it becomes evident when his ear prick and he says, in that same deep, animalistic voice that was in the background of your call with Jimmy,
“Mate.”
And then, he’s pouncing, trapping your hands above your head with his one arm while his legs scramble to find a good grip on the metallic surface of the car, hips rutting frantically.
His muzzle dips down, wet nose running along your jawline and neck, teeth scraping dangerously against your thin skin. He quickly settles on a spot behind your ear, growling as his pink tongue darts out to begin lapping at the spot.
You’re completely still, both physically restrained and unable to bring yourself to even try to move as the creature drags his fangs across the skin behind your ear. Your car is rocking back and forth with his hips’ violent movements, dragging his enormous cock against your lower stomach.
He pants into your ear, breath hot as he prepares to sink his sharp fangs into your tender skin, marking you as his forever...
“CLYDE!”
Jimmy’s voice pierces through the still of the night. Crickets stop chirping for a moment, and Clyde’s body stills. His head whips around, snarling at his brother.
Mellie’s right behind him, and she peers around him, trying to look at you. “Y/N, are ya alright?”
“YYYeah,” You manage, somehow. “I-I’m o-okay.”
Clyde hops down, all three feet planted on the ground, hackles up as Jimmy takes a step forward. “Mate.”
“She ain’t yer mate.” Jimmy says, calmly. He points to you. “Look at whatcha done to ‘er, Clyde. Would a mate look like that, huh? Look at ‘er, Clyde, she’s all beat up and scared outta her damn mind.”
The wolf visibly stands down, slowly turning his head to look back at you, seeing the scratches on your wrists and the marks on your neck. He sees the bit of wetness on your shirt and shorts, from his slick.
He hangs his head and begins to cry, whimpering and whining as he sprints off, surprisingly agile and quick for a wolf with three paws, across the road and back into the woods.
His blood’s boiling, he’s angry that he couldn’t defend you against Jimmy, mad that his alpha instincts had failed him. Even as a werewolf, one of the most powerful beings in the forest, he was still weaker than and overshadowed by his showboat older brother.
Loud barks of anger rip through him as he masterfully maneuvers through the forest, weaving through the trees, dodging thorns, leaping over the fallen tree trunks.
The sky suddenly begins to empty down onto Earth, the cool summer night’s rain a welcomed refreshment on Clyde’s fur. He looks up at the blood moon, huffing softly as he silently curses the orb for bringing this condition to him each full moon, as he did every single moon before this, and will continue to do with every one after.
He reaches his cave a few minutes later, stopping dead in his tracks when he smells smoke coming from inside. He’s on high alert, now, as he moves to peek into the cavern.
There, he finds a lone man sitting by a very small fire, rubbing his hands together over the heat. He’s clad in head-to-toe tree camo with a shotgun laying just out of arms reach.
This man’s scent feels awfully familiar, Clyde thinks, but it takes him a minute to figure out why. And, when he does remember, Clyde is suddenly not so sympathetic for the unwanted visitor in his cave.
The wolf’s mind falls to a certain memory from last night at Duck Tape. This is the jackass that thought he could get away with feelin’ you up. The one that poked plenty ‘a fun at his missing hand.
Clyde’s still-hard cock presses up against his furry stomach in excitement, tongue licking over his razor-sharp fangs. He couldn’t protect or avenge you last night, again due to Jimmy, but maybe he can now.
Jimmy ain’t gonna get in my way this time ‘round.
He can’t just come running into the entrance, no, that allows him too much time to grab the gun. He thinks, and thinks, until he remembers the connecting cave that he’d recently found on the last full moon. He bets he can get in there and creep up behind the man, do a sneak attack.
He’s salivating in anticipation as he bounds down to the opposite side of the cave, paws padding lightly against the soft gravelly dirt floor, trotting along carefully.
The man is none the wiser to the wolf’s presence, and the hum of the loud rain certainly wasn’t hurting. A loud crack of thunder suddenly rips through the forest, vibrating the ground. Clyde freezes briefly as the young man curls up further, chin resting in the gap between his knees.
Predatory instincts pumping through his veins at an all-time high, he crouches down as he stalks closer and closer to the unsuspecting body by the small fire. The anticipation is almost too much to bear, now right behind the man, moving in slow motion so as to not alert his victim.
When the time is right, just as the next clap of thunder rumbles the rocks, Clyde pounces. He grabs the man’s shirt, dragging him out of the cave with an unprecedented swiftness. The fire is extinguished with the tussle, leaving the cave shrouded in darkness, the shotgun laid abandoned on the ground where he’d put it.
He struggles against the wolf’s grip, fabric ripping violently the further his body’s dragged along. Clyde throws him out onto the forest floor, pawing at the ground like a wild stallion as the disheveled man scrambles to his feet.
His hands are shaky as he holds them up in front of him, as if trying to calm the creature like a domesticated dog. “E-Easy, easy.”
If he could, Clyde would’ve rolled his eyes at the man’s pathetic attempt to talk down at him. He snarls, watching in amusement at the way he startles and stumbles back.
Clyde’s got the man backed against the trunk of an old oak within seconds, and he stands up on two legs, glaring at the much smaller figure. He bares his teeth, a wolf’s version of a devilish grin.
“Run.”
It seems like the man is caught in between being shocked that this wolf just spoke English and being chilled to the core by his word. He sputters for a moment, brain smoking as it churns on overdrive, before his legs carry him as quickly as they can down the mountainside.
The wolf casually trots along after him, in very little rush to catch him. He’s throbbing hard now, the excitement translating into pure arousal. Clyde knows these woods like the back of his hand; there’s no where for this man to hide from his inevitable fate as the wolf-man’s next meal.
His head continuously whips around, meeting the grayish-white orbs tucked behind a thick coat of jet black fur. In a frenzy, he tucks himself behind a large tree, catching his breath.
Twigs snap in seemingly all directions, his breath heavy as his eyes flicker all around the dark, damp wood, the only light coming from the crimson-tinted orb above. He reaches back and wraps his arms around the tree’s trunk, panicked.
A low growl rattles his eardrums and he looks to the side, seeing the black creature right at his side. Clyde’s head snaps to the side, looking directly at his victim.
Crying out in fear, the man leaps forward to make a run for it, but is quickly taken to the dirt by the wolfish creature. The man squirms and screams out for mercy, for God, and Clyde knows what he has to do now.
He quickly sinks his teeth into the back of the mans neck repeatedly, effectively severing the spinal cord, leaving the man completely limp and defenseless. A quick and effective manner of disabling a victim, he’s learned through hunting animals, but keeps him just alive enough to see what’s being done to him.
Clyde flips the limp form over, now on his back, and his eyes are wide as he watches the wolf above him, black fur now stained red around the mouth, stare down at him with a hungry gaze.
His mouth opens, probably to beg for his life, but it’s too late. Fangs sink through his shirt and into the flesh of his chest, just above where his rapidly beating heart lay.
The thump-thump rhythm slows, then stops, the life leaving his body. Sweet copper tang coats the wolf’s tongue as the body is drained of its remaining energy.
There is little feeling better than watching the life slowly and steadily drain from the eyes of a victim, and suddenly, Clyde’s throbbing arousal has reached an almost unmanageable point.
But, he wouldn’t pass up the opportunity to devour his freshly-caught prey, especially while it’s still warm. So he digs in immediately, carving further into the hole over the heart he’d already created, ripping out the vital organ.
He holds it triumphantly between his teeth for a moment before setting it aside. His craving is more for the meat, he’s never been much of a fan of organs, so he gets to work separating the good meat from the corpse.
Once he’s done, he lifts his nose in the air, howling loudly. He’s never been this hard before, he swears it, and there’s only one person that can satisfy this urge:
You.
For a wolf on three legs, he reaches your house in record time. He can already feel the wolf-ness fading steadily, the human beginning to peek through the cracks. But, his rut doesn’t give at all, and he bounds up the steps and scratches at your door.
You’re startled by the noise, already a gut feeling you know who it is. When you open the door, Clyde’s wolf figure is sitting politely on your doormat. Should you let him in?
He pushes past, whimpering as he does so, before you can make a decision. You shut the door slowly before turning around to face the creature. He seems a bit different than when you saw him earlier, seeming a bit more human.
You stand against the door, back pressed up against it, looking down at the wolf in your living room.
“Y/N.” He breathes, huskily, attempting to ignore the hardness pressing up against his wooly stomach. “N-Need you. Please.”
He’s ashamed as he stands up on his hind legs, wrapping a clawed hand around his oozing cock, jutting his hips out as if to show off for you. The alpha in him needs to show you how suitable of a mate he is, what strong pups he can give you.
“It hhhhurts, b-buttercup.”
The battle going on inside him, animal versus human, is painfully evident on his expression. Your hearts been ripped in half as you watch him struggle with himself, the human trying to overpower the animal, and the animal trying to fight off the human. He doesn’t even know what he did to you earlier.
“What do you need from me, Clyde? I’m here to help you, honey, I’ll do whatever you need.”
His eyes widen in surprise, but its quickly replaced by a look of what can only be described as pure, primal hunger.
“Floor. A-All fours.” The wolf-man manages, desperately humping his hand to offer some relief. “G-Get the lube, ffffuuuck, I mmuhhmight hurt ya without it.”
You rush to get the lube, placing the tube next to you as you pull your leggings down, exposing your bare cunt. Clyde watches with an eager anticipation as you spread yourself for him.
As soon as you’re into position, he practically falls over on top of you, hips rutting uncontrollably as he smoothes lube over his drooling cock and lines up with your entrance.
“B-Buttercup, I...I’m sssorry ‘bout what’s ggon’ happen. This ain’t me, ppuhpplease remember that, mmkay?”
You nod, tearing up at the pure agony in his voice. “I w-will, Clyde.”
His hips shove forward, a choked howl escaping his lips, balls tightening. You cry out, the burn of your walls stretching to accommodate his girthy length more prominent than usual.
Veins bulge out of his neck, jaw clenched as he begins moving, mercilessly plowing into you from behind. He plants his clawed hand next to yours, loud and desperate scratching noises accompanying the wet squelch of your joined torsos.
The carpet is shredded, hardwood floor scratched permanently by his feet as he humps you with a desperation unlike anything you’ve ever experienced. This really wasn’t Clyde, but you soon realized that you exactly mind this side of Clyde, this primal instinct, this roughness. It was arousing, bittersweetly so.
When you look over your shoulder at the wooly mass moving behind you, your eyes widen. You didn’t notice the shiny substance from a distance, but now that he’s up close, you see that it coats his snout and has even dripped down onto his breast.
A gripping fear bubbles in your stomach. But then, you rationalize immediately, before you find yourself too deep down in this rabbit hole of worry. He probably just hunted a deer or a rabbit or something. He’s a fucking wolf, remember?
You almost sigh out loud in relief, but you keep it in, instead moaning along with each of his thrusts.
“D-Did ya like muhmmahhmm--ma w-wolf cock?” He asks.
You nod. “Y-Yeah, ohhh god, I liked it.”
“Gonna gguh-give ya real nice p-pups.” His muzzle rubs over the spot behind your ear, the same one that he’d been after earlier, smearing some of the crimson across your skin. He licks it with as much consistency as possible, considering the speed and intensity of his hips. “F-Fill ya u-up, knot ya gggood ‘n deep.”
You’re almost positive he’s talking pretty much nonsense at this point, his rut brain having completely taken over. You know you’re not gonna cum, but it doesn’t really matter; you’re doing this for him, after all.
“Oh g-god, I’m cummin’, I’m gonna--”
He pauses his hips, howling softly as he cums. But this time, something else begins to swell, and you cry out as it does so.
“M-Ma k-knot,” Clyde breathes in explanation. “Keeps it a-all inside y-ya.”
You nod, not really knowing what all he’s talking about but not really caring for an explanation right now.
“‘m gonna h-havta stay inside y-ya fer a lil while. S-Should be ‘b-bout 30 minutes or so.”
His tongue begins moving over your cheeks and neck, something that makes you smile, that helps you remember that your beloved boyfriend’s in there somewhere.
The half hour waiting period passes, and as much as you’ve loved snuggling with your boyfriend (who’s wolf counterpart is relatively cuddly, despite previous reservations), you’re happy to have him off you.
After wishing you a final goodbye, citing the need to ‘clean up his cave a bit’, he trotted back out the door and galloped like a madman (wolf?) back out into the shadowed wood, leaving you alone once more.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s all over the news when you flip on the TV a couple days later. Hunter Found Slain in Boone County Woods, Bear Attack Suspected.
You have this awful, sick-to-your-stomach feeling that what happened the other night, when Clyde came to your house still in wolf form with a snout and chest covered in blood, had something to do with this.
When the picture of the victim came up on the screen, you audibly gasp, recognizing the face. It’s the guy that was feeling you up at a few nights ago at Duck Tape.
Oh god, no.
Suddenly, the door flies open, and Clyde’s panting as he rushes in and shuts it behind him. He looks pained, bottom lip trembling. “Have ya s-seen the ne--”
“...Police are still investigating the scene...foul play has not yet been ruled out...”
His entire demeanor falls, and the tears fill his eyes. He’s visibly shaking. You stand up and rush over to him just as he collapses on the floor.
You’re freaking out, trying to confirm what it is you’re pretty sure you already know.
“C-Clyde, did you...?”
He looks up at you from where his head now rests in your lap. “I c-can’t quite remember, b-but I think...I think I m-might’ve.”
Sobs wrack through his body as he cries hoarsely. You’re in shock, somehow hearing the words makes the reality suddenly hit like a damn semi-truck. You run your hands through Clyde’s slightly matted mane, soothing him as best you can.
“Clyde, it’s okay, baby. It’s alright, it’s not your fault.” You whisper.
“Y-Yeah it i-is, though. I k-killed ‘im.”
You try to stay strong, for Clyde’s sake, but the tears are swelling in your eyes at an uncontrollably fast rate. “But you d-didn’t do it o-on purpose, h-honey.”
His face seems to drop even more when he sees that you’re about to cry. He sits up shakily, pulling you into a big ol’ bear hug.
“Oh, buttercup, oh god, ‘m sorry. I didn’t m-mean to drag y-ya into all ‘a t-this.”
You sob into his shirt, wrapping your arms around him, holding him close. It’s hard to believe that this man, this kind, gentle man, could’ve done something like this on purpose. Clyde would never hurt a fly.
From what he’s told you, which granted is very little, the line between werewolf and human for him is quite a blurry one. He seems to only be able to remember parts of what happened, and his subconscious is only there for part of the time.
Which means that he’s technically innocent, since he can’t remember nor could he control his canine impulses or instinct. As far as you’re concerned, werewolf Clyde and human Clyde are two different beings.
“I-If anyone ever f-found out ‘bout ma c-condition...”
You pull away and look up at him, holding his face in your hands. “Clyde, I-I’m not gonna turn y-you in.”
“What?” He looks at you with a furrowed brow, like he’s surprised to hear your words. “Y-Yer not g-gon’...?”
Shaking your head, you swing your leg over his lap, hugging him once more while your face settles into the crook of his neck.
“No, of course not. I know you’re a good p-person, and like I said before, it’s n-not you. Your w-wolf side is not really you, Clyde, at least not entirely.”
Clyde looks down at you with an incredibly grateful expression, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips. He tilts your head up with one of his meaty fingers, immediately pressing his lips to yours.
The kiss is relatively short, just a showing of his gratitude, of his love for you. When he pulls away, you maintain eye contact.
“Okay, so most of the solid DNA evidence will have been washed away by the rain and tampered with by the elements over the past few days that the body’s been outside. Plus, they aren’t looking for wolf DNA, and even if they somehow knew, your wolf DNA wouldn’t lead to your human identity, at least I don’t think so...”
Hours and hours of watching countless true crime shows, movies, and documentaries are finally paying off.
“But, do you remember leaving anything, anything that could indicate foul play? Really search your memory.”
He puts his metaphorical thinking cap on, closing his eyes as he tries to recall anything of use from that night, but nothing comes to mind. His eyes swell with tears as they blink open and he shakes his head. “I can’t ‘member anythin’.”
“That’s okay, Clyde. They won’t find out, I promise, they won’t.” You kiss his neck. “For now, let’s just try to relax and we’ll keep an eye on the news. Will you come snuggle on the couch with me?”
Clyde smiles softly, nodding as you pull away and stand up, extending a hand to him. He takes it, standing up seconds later. As you walk into the living room, he says your name, causing you to turn around with a slightly perplexed expression.
“Thank ya.”
You smile brightly. “I love you, Clyde.”
“I love ya, too, darlin’.”

CAMP FIREFLY - chapter one
word count: 4,210
content warnings: brief joking mention of child death
read on ao3 / read on wattpad (coming soon too lazy to upload there rn lol) / previous part / next part
Emily wakes up on the first day of camp feeling like someone is sitting on her chest. It’s the same atmosphere as usual; her head rises from the same old flat pillow to the same old bunk above her. It’s the same atmosphere, sure, but today feels fundamentally different, for it’s the first time she’ll be interacting with real campers. Children. A gaggle of young folk coming to her every day for instruction or nurturing or a hand with the hot-glue stick. She’s been trained for this, of course, but what if she messes up a craft? What if she accidentally says “fuck”?
Wide awake, JJ and Penelope are up and bouncing around the cabin cheerily by the time Emily wiggles her toes and comes to from Dreamland. Emily had only awoken in the first place because the early-rising pair tuned the radio to something upbeat and relatively staticless, cranking up the volume. Emily would’ve considered that very rude had she not already slept in for an extra hour, and had she not been greeted with incredible excitement once her eyes popped open.
“She’s awake!” JJ cheered, Penelope replying with a soft good morning!. Emily took her time pulling her body from the mattress, and now sits still-groggy on the floor by her bunk, trying to do her makeup in a tiny, fogged compact mirror. Penelope is standing behind JJ, braiding bright purple ribbons into her hair.
It’s so early it’s still dark outside, so the three of them are illuminated by a sorta-eerie yellow light, an old light bulb wired smack in the center of the cabin. Penelope’s bags are packed by the door, and when Emily notices them, she feels a pang of sadness upon remembering that Penelope will be moving out to her own cabin with her own group of campers today. Emily will get to stay with JJ, which she thinks is quite nice, because the only other option was a single room all the way over by Rossi’s office all by herself. And she’s finding that she quite likes spending time with JJ and Penelope, so newfound solitude would be a drag.
The bunch have spent their past week in training--learning the lay of the land through semi-degraded VHS tapes of Rossi when he was young and sprightly still, walking through the camp and delivering very specific instructions on how to deal with very specific situations. Penelope was in charge of teaching the fun stuff---chants and traditions and how to make friendship bracelets.
On a particularly sweaty, boring training day, Emily pulled Aaron aside--away from the group who was watching an old-Rossi-video about the lake just behind the camp--and asked him if everything was always like this. Emily wasn’t entirely sure what the “this” was, whether she meant peppy or hot or musty or involved, but Aaron had nodded his head sympathetically and walked Emily back to her seat with a whispered, “You’ll get used to it.” Emily was only a tiny bit aware of Penelope’s eyes fixated on her as she slumped back down in the sticky plastic seat and focused back on Rossi-with-hair explaining the stupid history of the stupid lake.
And used to it she got. Spencer, too.
Turns out he shared the same sentiment as Emily--the, “I’m not entirely sure what’s going on, and I don’t know what the hell I’m doing here, but I don’t hate it,” sentiment, as they’d so concisely dubbed it, when they sat together in the back of the big room training was taking place in, gossiping and giggling as Rossi, real Rossi --- old Rossi --- stood in front of the small group and explained yet another probably-self-explanatory camp rule.
For as much training as it feels like they participate in --- or sit through, rather --- Spencer still wakes up on the first day of Real Camp so stressed out he checks for gray hairs in the mirror.
It turns out that you can sit through a series of convoluted VHS tapes and Penelope-lessons and still not know a thing about what you’re supposed to be doing. It also turns out that while Camp Firefly is clearly very loved, it’s not the most...efficient summer camp of the area. Or the most safe. Or staffed. Or large. In fact, Spencer marvels at the fact people even send their kids here to stay. It’s not that the camp is poorly run or anything (to imply that would be to question the abilities of him and his friends, Spencer acknowledges), but there’s got to be better options, is the point.
Besides the small handful of counselors Spencer had become close with, the staff only consists of a trio of kitchen staff, one (one!) lifeguard, and a male nurse that Spencer had spoken to once and left the conversation supremely uneasy at the poor guy giving any medical advice. Spencer made a mental note to try his hardest to not have any health issues during his time here.
The kitchen staff are older---like, appear-in-the-old-training-videos older, but they entertain the rest of the newer, younger staff with stories of their youth. The nature of Camp Firefly means that they have stories about Spencer’s friends, too, as the majority of them have been going to the camp every summer since they were children, aging up into their jobs as counselors.
Spencer hears about the time an elementary-aged Derek begged to help serve food to the other campers just because, and about the time Penelope and JJ (when the story is told, they call her Jennifer) passed a petition calling for Rossi’s retirement around the whole camp, just because he cancelled the Talent Show. (The petition turned up only 4 signatures, and the Talent Show is no longer a Camp Firefly tradition).
It’s awe-inducing to Spencer that these people around him have lived whole lives in these dingy cabins. They’ve known each other for ages, built relationships and traditions and memories and stories, all because their parents chose the cheapest sleepaway camp option.
Spencer wonders how different his life would have turned out if he’d been indoctrinated into Summer Camp Culture in his youth, whether he’d even be at Camp Firefly now. Probably not. Definitely not.
Everyone is hanging out around Rossi’s office when the first bus arrives, lounging against the walls and picking at their cuticles. The sun is meandering its way over the horizon finally, but it still feels impossibly early. The group wears bright orange Camp Firefly t-shirts that are meant to be matching, but budget things mean that some of the shirts are more worn---Aaron’s has the sleeves cut off, and the logo is largely rubbed off of JJ’s---and some are brand new.
The crackling of the bus’ tires signals it’s presence before the vehicle peeks over the hill, and when it’s finally in everyone’s line of vision, it’s like a switch flips. They’re hooting and hollering, jumping and dancing in the name of welcoming this bus. Spencer has a wild grin on his face, and when he meets Emily’s eyes, they share a look of fondness and excitement.
After the first bus arrives, the day goes by as quickly as a montage--a cluster of quickly moving vignettes.
Spencer watches as a young girl stares up at Derek, eyes wide and full of wonder. He’s lifting her--and three other girls’--duffle bags with ease, muscles flexing and shiny with sweat. Same, Spencer thinks, realizing his expression is most likely the same as the girl’s. Derek flashes him a quick, hot smile, and Spencer grins in return.
Emily executes her first craft--a cluster of glitter and string and construction paper--flawlessly. Each group introduces themselves to her with a chorus of “hi Emily,” and it warms her heart more than she expected. One girl missing her front tooth hangs back as her group is leaving--Penelope’s group is leaving--just to tell Emily that she likes her “funny makeup.” It’s just eyeliner, really, it’s not that funny, but the sentiment makes Emily smile nonetheless.
Aaron has some trouble with children in his group picking beds, a small verbal scuffle breaking out between two campers vying for the last top bunk. Aaron, ever a mediator, solves it with a stern glance at the pair and a reminder that the other option out of the two is a bed near a window, another highly-sought-after spot. They fight for the window bed next, and Aaron feels a gray hair sprout on the spot.
Once all of Penelope’s campers have unpacked, she takes them on a top-secret trip down to the lake. It’s definitely not top-secret, it’s a staple of every group’s first-day tour, but Penelope has a knack for making her campers feel special, so they creep around the sandy shore on their tiptoes, whispering, while Andrea the Lifeguard looks on.
Despite the speed and relative easiness of the day, everyone finds themselves exhausted, greeting each other with pantomimes of falling asleep and loud sighs. It’s not been a bad day at all, but a long one, and in an attempt to remedy the feeling Derek graciously offers to run to the supermarket and pick up some fun snacks---a counselors only affair.
Spencer volunteers to accompany him on account of him wanting to spend obscene amounts of time with Derek, and also on the account of Rossi offering his expensive car for Derek to drive. Oh, to feel buttery leather seats and hear music and smell anything but dry leaves and B.O.
As soon as their campers are pawned off to other people and sufficiently supervised, Rossi tosses his keys to Derek, who catches them with a jingle.
“Be back soon,” Derek promises, and Spencer punctuates with a wave and a smile.
The fluorescent lights buzz in Spencer’s ear, comforting him. Bzz, bzz. Hope you like the air conditioning, they call out to him. He sure does.
Normally the energy of these 24/7 high-budget chain grocery stores freak Spencer out. It’s always too bright, too loud, too full-of-people. But tonight, there’s not a soul around except him and Derek and the high-school-aged cashier, so Spencer’s actually feeling particularly soothed. The sounds of Derek’s feet dragging on the shiny floor and the squeaky wheel are good sounds, he decides. He could still do without the candy-coated pop music wafting through the speakers.
The shopping cart remains empty for about fifteen minutes before either of them address it. Derek and Spencer spend those 15 minutes wandering aisles, relatively silent save for short, casual remarks like, “Oh, maybe we should get barbecue chips,” or, “JJ loves these Fruit by The Foot.”
Derek pauses from where he’s pushing the cart and turns to Spencer. “We should probably start shopping for real now, huh?”
Honestly, half of Spencer thought they had been shopping for real already. But apparently, if you’re not putting things in the cart, it doesn’t count, he learns. (Derek might be a misguided teacher in that lesson, though.)
“I like to take my time here, because it’s about the only time during camp I get to be alone,” Derek explains, tossing a loaf of bread into the cart absentmindedly. Bread is not on the list.
Spencer tugs at his fraying string bracelet. “Oh. Sorry, then,” he says. Three boxes of graham crackers are set delicately next to the bread.
“For what?”
“Well, you’re not really alone right now,” Spencer observes.
Derek shrugs casually. “Sure, I guess. But you don’t really count, Spence,” he says.
He means it kindly, Spencer knows. But it’s an odd thing to hear--what does that mean? Is he implying Spencer is too boring, or too quiet? Before Spencer can spiral too much, Derek notices his uncomfortable silence and continues, “Hey, no, I mean because I like spending time with you. Like, it’s easy. I don’t have to think about it.”
Spencer has a flash of a vision of Derek dipping him right there in aisle 6 and planting a nice firm kiss onto his lips. In that vision, there’s a fog machine whirring and some Chopin playing. Vision-Spencer nips at vision-Derek’s lower lip.
Instead of all that, present-moment-Spencer nudges Derek’s shoulder with his own, murmuring a happy little “likewise,” and clinging onto the sound of Derek’s chuckle.
Derek kept his hand on the center console the whole drive home, and Spencer desperately wanted to reach out and grab it, to open his palm and lay in it, letting him be engulfed like a weighted blanket. But he kept his hands to himself, squarely on his thighs.
It’s dark when they return, and the bright LED headlights of Rossi’s fancy car seem out of place when they pull back into the camp. Everything seems out of place. Spencer can’t put his finger on it --- the buildings haven’t shifted, and the camp is exactly the same as it was before he left, and yet he’s got this strange premonition that something is just...off.
Spencer’s shoe is untied, and he can feel the laces whipping his ankle as he and Derek trek to Rossi’s office to return his keys to him. He’d reach down and tie them if not for the plastic bags of groceries in his hand---god forbid he let food sit on the dirty, unpaved path, no matter how many layers of plastic packaging protect it. Besides, the air feels thicker than usual, and each time the knit of his shoelace brushes his skin, Spencer is reminded just how uncomfortable everything feels and how desperate he is to be inside.
Everyone is packed into Rossi’s office when the pair gets there, and Spencer’s stomach sinks the tiniest bit.
Penelope and Emily are lounging in those sticky plastic chairs, showered and smelling like a cocktail of cheap, fruity shampoo. Behind them are Aaron and JJ --- JJ’s standing to braid French braids into Penelope’s wet hair, and Aaron just appears to be shaking out pent-up energy. How he isn’t tired, Spencer doesn’t know. Confused, and with hesitant movements, Derek pushes away a stack of bright-white papers on Rossi’s desk to make space for the grocery bags. “What’s everyone doing in here?” he asks. “I thought we were doing Shifts tonight.”
Now that campers have arrived at the camp, it’s become a little more complicated to hang out as a group in the evenings, as they’ve all got an obligation to be in their cabins just in case. Liabilities, and all that.
The first year Aaron was old enough to become a counselor---he was the first of the bunch to age up into the job---he devised an elaborate, elaborate system that allowed the group to socialize without any sleeping campers being left alone.
It’s complete with maps and rules and a very strict set of time shifts, so in addition to Spencer and Emily’s official training, they’d been trained on the side by a very drill-sergeant-y JJ in what Aaron all those years ago so aptly dubbed “Shifts.”
Neither Spencer nor Emily have got it down yet.
“Rossi has an announcement,” Aaron says, pulling his ankle up behind him into a simple hamstring stretch.
“Yeah, I heard he’s gonna promote you to Head of Grocery Shopping, Der,” Penelope teases, peering jovially at Derek through the corner of her eye.
“Haha,” Derek deadpans, and tosses her a pack of fruit snacks that he’d picked out specifically for her. They're the good brand, the blue bag, and she accepts graciously with a kiss blown in his direction. Derek catches it, and presses it to his cheek.
Emily has noticed that Rossi always slinks into his office after his guests have arrived. He’s never there waiting, never anticipating. She has no clue where he’s coming from, although she assumes it’s from his cabin. He always makes an entrance, always sits with a weird old-guy sigh, and then launches into whatever reason he’d called the meeting in the first place.
On cue, Rossi swings the door open and lowers himself into his chair slowly. Emily anticipates it and then there it is---Rossi sighs that damn sigh, and leans forward onto his desk. Although no one else moves, the air shifts towards him as well, and it feels like the seven of them are all standing nose-to-nose.
Penelope slips Rossi a fruit snack discreetly, sliding it across the table to rest by his elbow.
“You know I love you all very much,” Rossi starts, and Emily feels like she might puke. That’s the thing about her Rossi prediction --- the important part, the part where he speaks, is the part she’ll never be able to guess.
So, she feels like she might puke. Not because she feels ill, of course, but in her experience all of that cheesy, “I love you” bullshit always prefaces the worst news, and she has absolutely no clue what is about to come out of Rossi’s mouth. Her mind leaps to the worst possible conclusion---”You’re firing all of us,” she blurts out, relieving the tension just a tad as JJ bursts into snickers behind her.
Another sigh. “No, I’m not firing you.”
“A kid died?”
“Jesus, Emily, would you let me finish?” Rossi says.
Then, after a deep breath, “Developers are coming tomorrow to look at the land. I’m planning on selling Camp as soon as this summer is finished.”
Oh, Emily thinks.
It hits them like a punch to the gut.
There’s hardly room to breathe in the cabin, let alone fall to the floor, but somehow JJ makes it work. The sound of her knees hitting the wooden floor reverberates and warps through the space.
Emily and Spencer exchange a watery glance and mirror each other, biting the inside of their cheeks at the same time. They share a small, spiritless smile at the misfortune.
Penelope is gasping short and shallow breaths as she staves off cries, reaching down and behind her for JJ, who has tucked her head into her knees, pulling off an emotional Child’s Pose on the filthy floor.
Penelope crying is awkward because Emily is sitting right there, upset as well but characteristically less overt about it. Their knees are touching --- Emily’s right to Penelope’s left --- and yet, there’s no tissue for Emily to give Penelope, no way to console her without feeling irreparably out of place. Emily sinks lower into her seat, wishing she had the confidence to place her hand on Penelope’s leg as a tender signal that she’s there and she understands.
Derek is shoved into Spencer as Aaron pushes past him and out of Rossi’s office. It’s not a malicious push, and the sad look Derek gives Spencer is one of pity both for Aaron and for himself, too. An anguished cry comes from outside, from Aaron, and everyone’s eyes widen a little at the sound.
It’s impressive to Emily just how immediately everyone started crying. Before Rossi had even finished his sentence, there were tears welling up in Penelope’s big hazel eyes. Emily almost feels jealous at the brazen displays of emotion. She wants to love something so hard that she could cry at the drop of a hat over it. Nothing has ever touched her as Camp Firefly has touched Penelope, touched JJ, touched Aaron, touched Derek.
“I feel like my world is crashing around me,” Derek admits shyly. “As stupid as that sounds.”
Spencer nods. He knows the feeling. They sit on the porch of their cabin in creaky rocking chairs, a cloud of bug spray encompassing them.
“It’s like, I grew up at this camp. This camp saved me as a kid.” Derek shakes his head.
This camp is saving me now, Spencer thinks wryly before tucking that thought away in a deep corner of his brain. “I’m really sorry, Derek,” he says sincerely.
The door to the cabin creaks open, and a teary-eyed child steps out onto the porch. His feet are light, and he closes the door behind him slowly, clearly not trying to wake any of his fellow campers. “Derek?” he asks quietly. “I can’t sleep...and I kinda miss my mom.”
“C’mere, then,” Derek says tenderly, and gestures for the boy to sit in one of the unoccupied rocking chairs. “Spencer and I were just talking about how much we miss our moms, right Spence?”
Spencer agrees with a nod and a kind smile directed at the boy, then he takes a backseat to the conversation unfolding in front of him. He watches as Derek effortlessly consoles the weeping child before him by sharing his own stories of similar plights in homesickness and offering jokingly to sing the cabin to sleep next time.
After a few minutes Spencer’s mind starts to wander, curious on how the rest of his friends are sleeping tonight after the news of Camp Firefly’s imminent closure. He hopes Emily is chatting with JJ just as he’s chatting with Derek, comforting her and providing the very few words of solace that would help in this situation. He thinks of Penelope and Aaron, all alone, and he half-considers walking over to each of their cabins just to check on them. He doesn’t, though, because it’s technically against the rules, and because Derek is standing, wrapping up his conversation and holding his hand out to help Spencer up out of his seat. The camper, who Spencer has learned is named Alex, scampers inside, tears dried.
Derek holds intense locked eye-contact with Spencer for a second. His eyes are soul-searching, making it clear that he has something he would like to say to Spencer. Maybe he wants to thank Spencer for listening to him talk, or accompanying him to the grocery store. Spencer quickly flips through a plethora of ideas of what Derek could say next like he’s flipping through a book, but he comes up short.
Derek’s mouth is open slightly, like he’d taken in a breath to speak and then lost his train of thought. The sight of him makes Spencer sweat a little, and just for a moment he feels like maybe he should break the short distance between them and kiss him.
Then Derek is tearing his eyes away, dropping Spencer’s hand, murmuring a gentle, “Sleep well, Spencer,” and retreating inside and to his bunk.
“Goodnight,” Spencer replies, but Derek’s already tucked himself in and turned his back to where Spencer stands by the open door.
Emily is always the last one to fall asleep. She knows this based solely on a feeling, an energy that settles over the camp when everyone else’s eyelashes are finally closed and their breathing patterns slowed. It takes a little longer on this night, considering the 40 new bodies in the vicinity--Welcome, Campers!--and the obviously upsetting news that’d been delivered to her and her friends, but finally Emily feels it. She’s the only one awake.
As much as Emily doesn’t like to spend time to herself, as she often finds herself in rabbit holes of self-loathing thoughts, this nightly hour-or-so of atmospheric solitude is comforting. Usually.
Tonight, she’s reeling with visions of land developers coming to the camp in fancy suits, and clipboards, and leather loafers that are far unsuited to trek through Camp Firefly’s unpaved land. And it sucks to imagine.
Emily has only spent a week or so here at the camp, so she doesn't feel like this loss hits her particularly hard. The only reason she’s even at this tiny camp in the first place is the fact that it’s on the exact opposite end of the country from where she’d spent her spring.
When summer ends, and this camp is gone, all she’ll need to do to heal is move to a new city, and make new friends. Then she’ll repeat the process once she gets hurt or bored. The collection of people who have known and loved Emily Prentiss is so impossibly large, and as a result, large is the collection of people who have lost her and haven’t thought about her since.
With regret, Emily recognizes that the group she’s met and befriended this past week will eventually forget about her, remembering her only as the charismatic figure who took over the Craft Cabin the year the camp closed.
And yet, she feels differently than usual. She thinks of pretty Penelope, who is so sweet and sheepish and shy around her, but blooms into wide smiles and rosy cheeks around others. Of JJ, who eagerly taught her how to braid and make friendship bracelets on only their second day of meeting. Derek and Aaron, the rare macho men who haven’t made her want to gouge her eyes out but instead make her laugh constantly. She thinks of Spencer, the quiet intellectual who she feels such a warmth toward, considering him her baby sibling or her protegé.
She’s not entirely sure of what this emotion is, what it means or what it will mean in the future. What she does know, though, is that she’ll take up as much space as possible until her quiet disband from the mismatched group of friends. It’s how she always goes.
It’s then that she decides fuck the developers and fuck Rossi’s plans. If she’s going down and away with this camp, she might as well make it count. As she closes her eyes, finally ready to sleep, a plan begins to formulate in her mind.

Let's rate all Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons summer themes! Why? Because it's summer at my half of the globe! SNES - I never really liked this theme. Too busy, too energetic, too repetiteve. It is fine enough to listen too though, but it was never one of my favs. GB/GBC - It's the same melody as SNES, but with the Game Boy sound font. For some reason, it actually sounds BETTER like that. Yeah, I prefer the GBC one to the SNES one. 64 - Hmm... I am torn on that theme. Similar to the SNES theme, it feels too busy for me and the first few notes are a bit grating, but the melody is pretty catchy and entraps you to hum along. Also, the quieter part of the theme sounds pretty good. Yeah, it's pretty solid ^^ If only the loud entry wouldn't be. GBC2 - YIKES! That was my reaction when it started, but it gets gradually better and turns into a pretty enjoyable little melody, sounds very much like summer. BTN - Aaah, now we are talking! This song is just FUN! It lets you think about a fun summer day on the beach. The melody starts a bit frantic and then gets calmer for the second verse, and you just want to wave your body along the melody and eat ice cream. It's a bit short though... GBC3 - Like pretty much every entry for this game, the music is pretty yikes. It just... isn't very good. It isn't an ear grater, but also not very enjoyable to listen to. AWL - While AWL lacks a summer theme on its own, because you can only play disks in your house and on your farm, it uses a song from Save the Homeland and that one is remixed pretty well. FoMT - It's the same melody as BTN but in the GBA sound font. It sounds well enough, but it can't beat the PSX version of it! Yes, I am biased, I prefer BTN over FoMT, end me if you please. BTN was the better game and I wished SoS FoMT would have been more BTN and less FoMT. MM - My husband goes around and hums this theme when I play Magic Melody ^^ And I get why, it's an earworm! It has this absolute summer feel, similar to BtN, from a summer day at the beach you want to spend with ice cream. It has such a tropical feel and once the main melody sets in, you can't help but hum along the music. I especially love the key change at around 1.17 ^^
StH Farm Theme - Ah, it's the theme got used in AWL, but this version is SO MUCH BETTER. I love the charming little melody, the guitar melody in the background, how the melody slowly splashes along and then turns into a flute to just tell you that you are on the countryside and sit leaned against the fence on your farm while there are 30 C and you are completely fine with it. StH Town Theme - Ah, this theme is a lot more energetic and quick. While it kinda remixes the farm theme (every StH theme does that), it doesn't carry quite the same nostalgia as the farm theme. The part that starts at 0.43 is super rad though and I love this bit. DS - I never have been a fan of this summer theme. It just feels like it starts and never ends. It just goes on and on and on and ugh... it annoys me kind of. At least you can switch the music in HM DS. IoH - This game kinda manages to nail all its themes, it is such a charming little song that makes me think of a summer breeze, but it's sadly, like every IoH song far too short. HoLV - Aw, what a charming little song ^^ The bassline melody and the main melody really contemplate each other and unite into a song that sounds like you want to let your feet doused by the river on a hot summer day.
ToT Day Theme - ToT goes a very different route with it's summer theme. It's a downright relaxing song. It is a joy to listen to, for it gives you the feeling that you are allowed to slow down and do your chores in your own pace. I really like the key change in this one. Sadly, the song falls short. ToT Night Theme - It's the same melody as the day theme, but... it sounds a bit haunted in my opinion ^^' ToT's night themes all have this problem. The key change though is really good here, make it sound like a warm summer night under the stars. SI - Hmmm... it's ok to listen to, I guess, but I don't actually feel a lot when I listen to this theme. It doesn't have a very summery feel for me and actually feels a bit chaotic. AP Day Theme - I LOVE THIS THEME! Ok, I say it, that is downright my favourite summer theme in the whole series! It starts with such joyful piano notes and then the piano takes a back seat with the same three notes that goes up and down while the main melody kicks in and just tells you that this is a summer day and you will enjoy it and you will have fun doing your chores and then sit at the beach that is right in front of your farm or share a cold drink with your sweet heart. My husband also can't stop humming this theme whenever I play AP, that shows how much of an earworm it is ^^ AP Night Theme - The melody is the same one as the day theme, but played more slowly and more relaxing. While I prefer the day theme, this one is super solid as well and a joy to listen too, especially the bassline of this song. GB - Ah, a fun little theme ^^ It is very fitting for the world of the game which seems to be set in the netherlands. I like listening to it, it is a song that you want to sway to.
ToTT - I hear the first few notes of this and instantly know that is summer, that is how much this summer theme got ingrained into my mind. It is one of the more relaxing themes though and there isn't much indication that it is a summer theme actually, so while it works very well as song, it isn't the greatest summer theme. ANB - Is it the 3DS game with the best music in the series?! It is! And ANB doesn't disappoint, the summer theme SLAPS! It is a joyful little song which runs at a quick pace and lets you feel like it is summer and you want to go to the mountains and sweat while you climb out and then go for a swim in the river on your way back up. The key change at 0.53 is just GREAT and it gets me every little time I play the game. TLV Day Theme - Aw, I always liked this little theme, it is a very relaxing theme and it fits the valley that is your playground in this theme. I just liked to terraform while this relaxing music played. TLV Night Theme - Um, are we at a jazz bar? Because that legit sounds like a theme that would play at night in a jazz bar, where you sit with your drink and just chill while you look at the jazz band performing. SoS Day Theme - SoS is special, because in that game you actually CAN SWIM IN THE RIVER, so I really like that the summer theme is so enjoyable to listen to, because you can actually cool off in this game ^^ Go swim and dive while this little theme plays, mostly played with plucking instruments. SoS Night Theme - Oh, this one starts a bit slow, but gets really nice to listen to once it hits the first 30 seconds. A very relaxing song, another one that makes me want to douse my feet in water and look at the starts while I stay on the countryside. SV Day Theme - I kinda always liked this tune. It is a fun little tune that feels like summer and has a nice melody to it, but that is pretty much all I have to say about it. SV Night Theme - Ah, we are back at the jazz bar ^^ The quiet piano melody is very jazzy and yeah, that is all I can say about it. SoS 3oT - It's a nice melody and enjoyable listening to it, but I don't really feel summer with this theme, so I am a bit torn on it. I think I prefer the fall and winter themes in this game. It's really nice to listen to though like I said, so I don't mind that it plays for 31 ingame days straight. LoH Day Theme - A nice song that totally sounds like summer to me, but like the rest of LoH's music, it just kinda... splashes along and nothing really happens. LoH Night Theme - Hmmm... it really isn't anything happening in this theme. It is more a melody so that it isn't quiet. SoS FoMT Weekday Theme - It's the tune of BtN but remixed.. and... in a good way actually! This song SLAPS! I really like what they do to my summer time beach fun song. SoS FoMT Weekend Theme - God, I LOVE this song! For some reason, SoS FoMT added a remix of the seasonal songs for the weekends and festival days and this one is such a banger, I can't help but bop to it, it's so good! It just sounds so much like summer and you just want to run around and dance to it while you enjoy your day off at the beach. Doraemon SoS Day Theme - What a cute little song ^^ It is on the more relaxing side, but it clearly has a summery feel to me. The video shows Nobita napping on the beach and well, isn't that a mood for this song ^^ Doraemon SoS Night Theme - Nobita still naps in the video and well, the music turned into his lullaby I guess ^^ It is mainly a guitar solo that is played slowly and very quietly, very very relaxing. I think I am falling asleep as well... OW - Sadly no one uploaded this music... which is a shame, because it is really good and the song gets remixed depending in which country you are. I really dislike how much hate this game got, because it is actually a solid entry and has some of the best music in the franchise. PoOT Weekday theme - I HATE THIS THEME! It isn't because the melody is bad, it's that DAMN TRUMPET! Why is the trumpet player playing it so... crazy? Why are so many notes sounding off key? The song would slap if the
trumpet wouldn't be there! I love every part of it, but then the trumpet ruins my day. Ugh! UGH! I legit had to switch the music off at first while playing until I got used to this horrible horrible trumpet. PoOT Weekend theme - Oh thank GOD! This theme is without the horrible trumpet. I prefer the holidays in PoOT summer a LOT because the song is actually enjoyable to listen to and it sounds very much like summer as well.

!CABIN, CUDDLY STUCK!
I can’t get out of my head the image of living with Steve and Bucky in a cozy cabin in the mountains that they made!
_______________________________________________________________
Steve smiled as his eyes opened to see Y/n curled up into his chest. Blanket jumbled all around her as she had her face buried in his chest. He looks over her to see that Bucky has moved to the edge of the bed. Which explains Y/n being so curled up to him, probably cold. Steve smiles softly watching her for a bit. He blushes her hair out of her face and leans down to kiss her forehead. “Doll, I got to get up.”, He whispers in her ear as he lightly shakes her. She mumbles a soft no , shaking her head. Y/n wrapped her arms around him trying to keep him there. He let out a soft chuckle, “Princess , I got to go get groceries before the storm hits.”. A huge storm was coming their way. Bring even colder weather and lots of rains. Usually resulting in The roads up to the cabin being closed or not able to drive through. They didn’t have enough food to last them till it cleared up. “No, warm.”, Y/n mumbles out trying to curl up even more into him. “You're welcome to come if you want.”. Y/n just shakes her head again , trying to stay in the warmth sleepy state. “Well then, Sorry doll but I got to get up.”, Steve pulls her off him easily. His heart breaking at the whines of protesting. He wishes he could just stay in and cuddle his doll. But he knows if he does they will never get groceries and be stuck with no food. Can’t trust Y/n or Bucky to get up and out before the storms hit. Or get back before them. Both get distracted too easily. So he got up early to go and get back in plenty of time so that he and Bucky can finish up cutting some firewood for storming. Steve ignores the whines and grabby hands Y/n makes at him, as he gets dressed. Once he’s done he makes his way back over to her. He sits on the bed and kisses her forehead. “I’m sorry doll. I’ll be quick and as soon as I get back we can cuddle as long as you want.”. Y/n lets out a loud whine as she reaches her arms up for a hug. Steve laughs softly watching as she acts like a little baby all while keeping her eyes close. Rolling his eyes at her behavior, he leans down hugging her. He kisses all over the side of her face and neck as she buries her face in his neck. As he squeezes her tight to him. He pulls back to finally be met with her eyes open sleepy as she looks at him with a pout. Steve leans down kissing the pout away. “Shh, go back to sleep I’ll be back soon.”, he says softly as he finally pulls away and leaves the room. Going quick knowing if he waited anymore she would end up pulling him back in bed with her. Y/n can’t help but sound like a baby crying for it’s parent as she pouts and watches Stevie leave. Missing him already and he isn’t even out the door yet. Once she heard the door to the cabin close she tried to go back to sleep. But she keeps waking up to being really cold. She doesn’t remember a time since dating the boys that she has been this cold. Always being warm even with just one of them next to her. Especially the warmth that she would feel laying in between both Steve and Bucky. Bucky?! Where is bucky? That’s why I’m cold . Y/n thought. She turned over to see her other lover had moved away in his sleep to the edge of the bed. “Meanie.”, Y/n whispered as she scooched over to Bucky. Not wanting to wake him up. Curled up in the blanket she moved his right arm so she could curl up into his side. Soft moans leave her lips as the warmth radiates off his body and warms her. She purrs as she tucked herself under his chin. Y/n smiles softly as she feels his arm wrap around her pulling her closer. To where she was basically half way on top of him. Before his eyes could open fully , a smile tugged on Bucky's lips as he felt the ball of blankets cuddle into him. He yawns , Fully waking up. A shiver goes down his spine as he feels a small , cold hand lay on his left shoulder. Something Y/n always did when cuddling up to him, even in her sleep. She would rest her hand on his left should/peck. Right on top of the scars from the arm. Lightly tracing them. Something Bucky hated at first, thinking she would be disgusted by them. But she wasn’t , she loves everything about Bucky. Even the things he hates about himself. He learned to love the touch and find it somewhat claiming. Like she made all the hurt go away from that part of him. But right now not so much. “Dear Lord , doll. Your hands are like ice.”, Bucky grabs her hand , brings it to his lips. He blows hot air on them and kisses them. Anything to get them warm. “Yeah , I’m Freezing! You're a meanie! You moved away and took my warmth away with you.”, Y/n Pouts as she moves so her chin was resting on his chest looking up at him. “Aw, I’m sorry doll.” Bucky leans down to kiss her forehead. “But I left you cuddled up with Stevie. Was he not warm enough?”. Y/n lets out a big sigh as she flops back to laying on his chest. “He was, till he left me!”. Bucky finally looked over to see indeed that Steve was gone from his spot. Which wasn’t unusual , he liked to get up early to get things done. “Aw you poor baby.”, Bucky pulls her all the way up on him as he wraps his arms around her hugging her. She giggles as his facial hairs scratch her check as he rubs their cheeks together. “Where is Steve?”, He asks as he loses his grip on her , letting her lay on top of him. “Went to get groceries. Something about being back before the storm. I think he left almost an hour ago but I’m not sure.”. Bucky just nods as he moves his hands under the blanket onto her skin. He frowns to feel her skin is ice cold too, “geese doll. You're completely frozen.”. Y/n just nods holding the blanket closer as she pushes her body up against Bucky’s to get warm. “Here let me go light a fire for you.”, Bucky gently lifts her off, laying her down next to him. Y/n whined grabbing his arm. “Doll , I’m just going a few steps over there. Once I get the fire lit I’ll come right back.”, Bucky says kissing her cheek as he pulls his arm away from her to get up. Y/n pouted watching as he walked over to the small fireplace that was in the bedroom. Although it was a great view to see. Biting her lip as she watched the muscles on Bucky’s back move as he works on putting wood in and getting it lit. Her gaze was pulled away by the sounds of tapping on the roof. She turned to the window behind the bed. Her favorite part of the cabin. Something Bucky and Steve built just for her. One side of their room was completely windows. From the ceiling to the floor. Widows that Stark created. They casted a tint over depending on the light facing them. Their bed was a floating bed without a headboard , so you can lay whichever way you wanted. Y/n loved during the summer nights laying in bed and watching the stars. She frowns now at the windows seeing the rain fall down. Just a light one. With quiet rumbles of thunder and lucky no lightning. That was the only bad thing about them, Y/n hated storms. Always thinking the worst. She has never been more thankful for knowing Tony. He was able to also put in a feature that let them completely black out the windows and the sounds in the room for Y/n. Y/n let out a soft quiet whines as she feels a kiss to her neck. As Bucky gets back in the bed wrapping his arms around her. Y/n turned back to him, curling up under his chin again. Smiling as she feels the heat from the fire make its way around the room to her. They laid there for a while till they heard the door open and shut. “That must be Steve. I’m going to go help “, Bucky says trying to get up. But Y/n grips on him saying No into his neck. Bucky chuckles as he rubs her back. “Doll, I promise we will come back and cuddle you all day once we are done.”. y/n pouts letting him go. He smiled down at her. She looked cute with her pout. Bucky led down kissing her. But the pout stayed. He kissed her a few more times till it disappeared and was replaced by giggles. “I’ll be back, kitten.”. Y/n sighed watching him leave. After a bit she decides to get up. To see if they need any help. And if not to get something to eat. She wrapped the blanket around her as she got up. Making her way out of the room , down the hallway to the staircase. “Oh , there you are. I was just coming to get you. I got breakfast.”, She looks up and at the bottom of the stairs Steve is waiting for her. Y/n glared at him as she made her way down the steps slowly. Steve waited at the bottom , leaning against the railings. He raised an eyebrow at her as she stopped a step above him with a frown and her arms crossed. “What’s wrong , Doll?”. “You left me! And COld on top of that!”, She huffs as she stomps a foot. Steve bites his lip trying to hold in the laughter at how cute she is. “Aw I’m sorry , doll. But I had to. We were running out of food.”, Steve pouts to her. Y/n ‘hmms’ him as she rolls her eyes looking away from him. Steve also rolls his eyes at her. He grabs the blanket trying to pull her closer. “I am, babydoll. I’m so sorry. Can you forgive me?”. She looks at him with a raised eyebrow , thinking about it. “What did you get me for breakfast?”, she asked. Steve smirk at her knowing he’ll win her over, “ I went to that diner you love and got you your favorite breakfast sandwich. With the pancake buns and an iced caramel coffee with extra caramel.”. He held back a chuckle seeing her eye dealt with excitement at her favorite food. Y/n tried playing it off that she wasn’t , “Okay I guess I’ll forgive you.”. She says as she takes another step down. To the last step so they are basically touching noses. “Okay, Can I have a hug and a kiss then to seal it?”, Steve asks, looking slightly up at her. Y/n moved a bit closer to him. So their lips were almost touching. See lets out a hum as she looks at him. Right as Steve leans closer to finally meet her lips, Y/n ducks down and under his arms. “Um, no. You're not that forgiven.”, Y/n says smirking. Steve’s grip on the railing becomes harder as he stops himself from falling. He stands up and turns to her shooting her a glare as she softly laughs. “Not cool baby.”, Steve shakes his head at her. Y/n just shrugs at him. “Only my favorite gets kisses.”. Steve scoffs, putting his hand to his heart as he falls back onto the stair railing. “You said you didn’t have favorites!”, Steve raising his voice faking hurt. Y/n smirks as she shrugs , “Do Now.”. Bucky walks over from the kitchen to see what was taking them so long. He raises his eyebrow , confused seeing Steve leaning like he was just shot and Y/n laughing. Steve looked towards him, “Bucky, Did you know our doll has favorites?!”. Bucky shakes his head as he laughs. “Lucky me then.”, Bucky smirks wrapping his arms around Y/n. Y/n turned to look at him, “You not my favorite ether.”. Bucky's face fell. He pulled away and looked at her , “What?!”. “But you can still have kisses and hugs. You did make a fire to keep me warm.”, Y/n says smiling at him sweetly. Bucky let out a breath of air, “Oh thank God!”. He leads over leaving a big kiss on her cheek. Y/n giggled trying to push him away. “This isn’t fair!”, Steve whines, falling onto the stairs. Acting like he is dying. Y/n shakes her head at him, “You are such a drama queen!”. She walks over to him , straddling his lap. “I’ll give you a hug and kiss if we can eat in the bed and watch spooky movies.”. Steve wraps his arms around her as he sits up. “You drive a hard bargain, babydoll. But fine.”, he says. Y/n smiles going to get up but Steve holds her down. “No, no, no. Kiss and hug now, then we go.”, Steve says. Y/n giggles as she opens her blanket letting Steve in. As she grabs his face kissing. Steve smiles in the kiss as he holds her close, kissing her. As they kiss he stands up with her. Y/n pulls away, squealing out of surprise as she wraps her arms and legs around him. Steve laughs, putting her down. “Okay , go pick a movie, we'll grab the food.”. He smacks her ass as she turns to head back up the stairs. “You know she has you wrapped around her finger.”, Bucky laughs as he heads to the kitchen. “Oh and you aren't? You made her a fire. You complain every time I ask you to do it!”, Steve says. “That’s because she’s cute.”, Bucky winks at him heading to the room. Steve scoffs , “You don’t think I’m cute?!”. Bucky just laughs , shaking his head as they walk in the bedroom. Y/n had the movie up and ready for them. She frowns seeing Steve’s pout. “Stevie , what’s wrong?”, Y/n asked. “Bucky doesn’t think I’m cute.”, Steve pouts crawling into bed and into her arms. Burying his face in her neck. “Aw , It’s okay I think you cute.”, She says playing with his hair.”. “Really?”, Steve looks up at her. Y/n shakes her head yes giving him a quick peck. “Does this mean I’m your favorite now?”, He looks up at her leaving small kisses on her jaw. Y/n smiles shaking her head no. Steve pulls away hurt as he turns to get the food. “Wait if Steve isn’t your favorite and I’m not who is? Is there someone else we don’t know about?”, Bucky asks ,getting into the bed. Y/n nods smiling as the white fur ball jumps on the bed from where she has been hiding. “Alpine is my favorite!”, Y/n says as the cat walks over and cuddles into her lap. Purring as Y/n scratches behind her ears.

Reggie//i can't let you go now that i got it
Request: your last reggie mantle imagine was soooooo cute it was.... BIG FAV i'm still grinning! could you please do one where reader and reggie have been best friends their whole lives? she's super protective and sweet to him and like? she's been in love for years but has been hiding it well?? she gets him to come away with her to college because 'screw this town' and they live together? but eventually she starts going on dates and it makes him realize he's in love with her too?? mutual love confession
hey! so before you go any further trigger warning mentions of abuse, specifically around reggie and his dad. it’s not in detail but it is mentioned a few times so don’t read if that upsets you. the last thing i want you to be is sad. i hope you all have a good day anyway, whether you’re reading this or not! (title is from Børns ‘electric love’)
- For 18 years
- Reggie Mantle has been the only constant in your life
- Even when you were babies he was there
- Your mom’s sat beside each other in baby class, cooing and awing over each other’s kids
- All while 6 month old you stole 6 month old Reggie’s toy
- And then he cried so hard he vomited on not only himself but you as well
- Which then made you cry even louder
- And then your mom’s were asked to leave
- So instead
- It became a weekly thing for your mom to take you to The Mantle’s
- While her and Mrs Mantle gossiped and drank tea
- You and Reggie would hit each other with various stuffed toys.
- As you got older
- The weekly visits turned into daily ones
- Especially when you moved three houses away from him
- You and Reggie started to see each other more than your own parents did
- Your mom still went over once a week
- But when she arrived you were always usually there
- Either stood in the kitchen getting a snack
- Or lying on Reggie’s bed watching an awful movie he just ‘had to show you’
- They usually involved a hybrid of two animals
- Sometimes mythical, sometimes not
- But in all of them they were usually taking over the world
- They also always had the same four actors in
- But despite how much you protested
- ‘reggie? are you being serious? we watched this one last time.’
- ‘no, we watched molemaid last time. this is medusamaid. they’re completely different’
- ‘oh, sorry. my mistake’
- You actually secretly loved them
- Because they made him happy
- You would watch in awe as he laughed at stupid jokes
- And how his eyes would always light up at a particularly gruesome part, no matter how badly CGI’d it was
- You also listened to the countless of theories as to how ‘hurrik9’ is clearly the prequel to ‘hellhounds’ because ‘they’ve got the same main character! it doesn’t matter if they’re not played by the same person. y/n, they’ve got the same name.’
- You also listened to him complain about the inconsistencies between ‘werewombats 1’ and ‘werewombats 2’
- ‘no matter how much the director stands by the decision to make them turn on each other, despite the first film clearly stating that that’s the last thing they’d do.’
- But the thing you loved the most about it
- Was that he was only ever this way with you
- You’d been sworn to secrecy when you walked in on him watching ‘dinocano vs uniquake’
- And you promised never to tell anyone about his secret passion
- Or the fact that he had a stack of notebooks filled with plots and mini scripts for his own films.
- Reggie may have gotten popular
- But to you, he’s still the same Reggie you’ve always known.
- Whose scared of clowns but won’t admit it
- And cried when watching Edward Scissorhands but if anybody asks it was you
- And who hates hot chocolate, but its the only thing he’ll drink when he’s sick
- He also only eats pink marshmallows in months ending in R
- And white ones every other month
- But in December he has both...because its Christmas.
- Yeah, you and Reggie are best friends
- Always have been, always will
- But it doesn’t stop you from wanting more.
- It doesn’t stop the longing looks when you think no one is watching
- Or the lingering touches whenever he hugs you
- It doesn’t stop your heartbeat picking up whenever he walks into a room
- Or how you forget how to breathe whenever he looks at you
- You look forward to everyday, even if you have a pop quiz or homework you only remembered the night before
- Because he’s going to be there to make you smile
- Even if he isn’t doing it on purpose
- You look forward to the countless of texts he sends
- No matter how weird or ridiculous
- Like when he text you at half three in the morning to ask if birds were real because somebody told him they weren’t.
- You then got a text straight afterwards telling you that it would be great idea for a plot
- And you still answer every single one
- No matter how stupid they are
- It’s really a wonder how you get any sleep with your phone being on loud all the time
- But it’s worth it
- Especially when you get texts like
- ‘he’s done it again’
- Reggie’s relationship with his father complicated to say the least
- You remember when you were younger they used to be best friends
- Reggie idolized him
- And you’d have conversations in Reggie’s tree house, about how much he wanted to be just like his dad when he grew up
- But when he did grow up
- And started to develop a personality that didn’t just revolve around football
- Reggie no longer wanted to be just like his dad
- He wanted to be the furthest thing from him
- The first time it happened
- Reggie tried his hardest to hide it from you
- And for the first time in 8 years
- You went two days without seeing each other
- On the third day though
- You’d had enough
- So you went round to see him
- But when you asked his mom if he was in
- She lied and told you he had just gone out
- Even though you could clearly see him trying and failing to hide on the stairs
- So you did what any normal friend would do
- You climbed through his bedroom window
- With about as much grace and steal as you could muster
- Which surprisingly, wasn’t a lot
- And you gave him the fright of his life
- ‘what the hell are you doing here?’
- ‘you’re avoiding me’
- ‘i’m not. i’ve just been...busy’
- ‘doing what? fighting?’
- ‘what?’
- ‘your eye’
- ‘oh yeah...that’
- That was when you knew something was wrong
- You’ve known Reggie your entire laugh
- And you know the three things he’ll always boast about
- Girls, football and fighting
- ‘what happened?’
- When he told you
- You couldn’t believe what he was saying
- You wanted to find Marty Mantle and give him a black eye...see how he likes it
- But Reggie begged you not to do or say anything
- ‘it’ll only make it worse’
- ‘but its wrong. he should be locked up’
- ‘who’s going to believe me?’
- ‘me’
- ‘see...it was only one time anyway’
- So you agreed, reluctantly
- And you so wanted to believe it
- But then a few weeks later he turned up to school with a bust lip
- A month after that another bruise around his eye that he tried to hide behind sunglasses
- And by the time graduation rolled around
- Both of you had lost count of the sunglasses and excuses
- For three years he’d been trapped in a house with a father who thought hitting was the same as love
- And a mother who pretended it didn’t happen
- But now college was round the corner and that meant a chance for both of you
- Or at least thats what you thought
- ‘you didn’t get in?’
- ‘i didn’t get in.’
- ‘to any of them?’
- ‘nope’
- ‘reggi-’
- ‘it’s fine. my dad has always wanted me to work for him. i guess this will make him happy. even if i am the cleaner’
- ‘reg-’
- ‘please go’
- That summer was the longest one of your life
- It was even longer that the time Reggie had to get his appendix out and so you couldn’t hang out for a 3 weeks.
- For two and a half months
- You heard nothing from Reggie
- You text, called, DM’d and even E-mailed
- But you got nothing
- You went round at all times of the day to try and talk to him
- And every time Mrs Mantle answered and told you he was either out or busy
- Doing homework was her favourite excuse
- And Reggie has only ever done homework when you were doing the majority of it
- You even tried climbing in through his window again
- But he locked it
- So you watched every morning as he dragged himself into his dad’s car
- Wearing a stiff suit and a miserable expression
- No matter how hard you tried to get to him before the left
- How fast you ran or how early you got to his house
- They were always long gone before you managed to get anywhere close to him
- You missed the midnight texts about nothing
- You missed his stupid jokes
- You missed watching an entire room light up whenever he walked in
- You missed the way he made you feel, even if he was unaware of it
- You even missed watching his god-awful movies
- You just missed him
- And when he missed your leaving party
- That was the final straw
- At 7am the next morning
- You shoved the last of your boxes in the back of your car
- Said goodbye to your parents
- And drove away
- Three houses down the street
- Making sure your parents had gone back inside before stopping
- You sat outside for a few minutes
- Trying to think of what to do or say
- You knew his mom would answer the door
- And that you’d get the same excuses
- You also knew from the past few experiences that his window would still be locked
- So you threw rocks at his bedroom window in the hopes that when he’d check to see what it was, he’d leave it unlocked
- And he did!
- You watched from behind a bush as he hung his head out the window to look around
- His brow furrowed and hair messy
- Clearly he’d just woke up
- You couldn’t help the smile twitching at your lips
- You’d missed that face
- Climbing the window was a lot harder than it used to be
- Mr Mantle had taken the ladders away
- Another reason as to why he sucked
- But you managed eventually
- And you almost died only twice
- Which is good
- It’s better than three
- You landed on the carpet with a loud thud that made him jump half way across the room
- ‘y/n. what the hell are you doing here?’
- ‘it’s moving day. and i must say i’m very disappointed at the lack of preparation on your part. have you even started packing yet?’
- ‘it’s not funny y/n’
- ‘i know. do you see me laughing?’
- ‘i’m being serious y/n. just leave’
- ‘no’
- ‘what?’
- ‘the last time you told me to leave, i listened and i didn’t see you for two months, so no’
- ‘what about college’
- ‘what about it?’
- ‘it starts in three days’
- ‘i know. and if we stand here any longer we’re going to miss it. so get packed and lets go. it’s a nine hour drive and i’m not doing all of that alone’
- ‘you know i can’t go’
- ‘says who?’
- ‘my dad, every single college i applied for and me’
- ‘listen to me reggie. you are my best friend, you have been since we were babies. there’s not a part of my life you haven’t been in. do you really think that would stop at college?’
- ‘we didn’t spend the summer together’
- ‘and it was the worst summer of my life’
- ‘same...but that might have been because i was spending 12 hours a day in an office’
- ‘rude. but i’ll take it!
- ‘i did miss you though. it was weird not seeing your face everyday’
- That makes your cheeks heat up and you have to force the flutter in your chest to go away
- ‘it always cheers me up’
- There it goes again and you want to claw at your chest until it’s no longer there
- Hope is a terrible thing to have when you’ve been in love with your best friend for your entire life
- ‘you always cheer me up’
- Oh dear...
- ‘i love you...a-as a friend. this summer has been the longest and most depressing for both of us. i don’t want to live the rest of my life like that. i need you reggie. so please pack your bags, say screw you to your dad and to this town and lets go’
- ‘what about money? where am i going to live?’
- ‘we’ll figure that out on the way there. just hurry up’
- And he did
- You and Reggie threw the majority of his belongings into any bag you could find
- He took all the money he’d been saving out of the poorly disguised fake plant
- And wrote a nice little note for his parents
- You also may have added a few choice words to it
- But what Reggie doesn’t know won’t hurt him
- And the two of you climbed into your car and never looked back
- The 9 hour car ride was the most fun you’ve ever had
- It was like you were trying to fit the entire summer you’d lost into those few hours
- It was filled with off key singing
- And stories of your summer
- His favourite being about Archie being tricked into going skinny dipping by himself
- You laughed loudly like nothing had happened
- And cried silently because everything had
- Thankfully when you arrived on campus, it was already night
- So you managed to sneak Reggie into your room
- And when you nervously told your roommate
- She just grinned at you
- ‘it’s fine, my boyfriend will probably be staying over a lot too’
- ‘oh, he’s not my boyfriend’
- ‘we’re not together’
- ‘...okay’
- She said with a knowing smile and you and Reggie shared a look
- And a year filled with adventures started
- Reggie got a job as a bartender with a little help from Veronica
- And you started your classes
- But nothing is ever easy
- At least not when it involves you or Reggie
- It turns out hiding a whole human is a lot more difficult that you anticipated.
- It involves Reggie squeezing into your closet
- And a whole team of people to get him to and from the showers
- But it was also difficult for another reason
- Because it was easy to hide your feelings from him when you lived in separate house
- But now you’re sharing a room
- And a bed
- And every time he would wrap his arms around you
- And pull in for a half asleep cuddle
- You’d forget how to breathe
- You’ve never been more excited to wake up
- Because he’d be all messy hair and parted lips with just a little bit of drool coming out of them that it would be cute instead of gross
- And when he said good morning in the same deep, tired voice
- You wanted to live in that feeling forever
- But then 2nd year rolled around and everything changed
- It all started when you moved into your own apartment
- You knew you had to but there was a part of you that hoped you could keep everything the same
- You found a tiny, two bedroom flat that you could both just about afford
- Reggie was so happy to have his own room
- ‘i won’t have to sleep next to you and your freezing cold feet anymore’
- ‘i’ll just sneak into your bed when your fast asleep and put them on you then instead’
- ‘i thought we were supposed to be friends’
- It took a few weeks to get used to an empty bed
- But eventually you started to sleep properly
- And it was quite nice to have your own space again
- It meant you could study without having to listen to ‘nighthawk nightmare’
- Honestly, you don’t really know what the plot of that one is
- But you’ve still seen it 7 times
- You may be in love with him but it doesn’t mean he can’t be annoying sometimes
- And you were happy with going back to admiring from afar
- Your heart can’t get broken that way
- In fact a small part of you thought he felt the same way
- That one glimmer of hope you felt a year ago
- Came back all of sudden
- And soon
- You became aware of the lingering touches
- And the gifts he’d buy you just because
- He also asked what you wanted to watch for your movie night
- And he’s never, ever done that unless you were sad or sick
- And even then, when you broke your arm a few years ago, he chose the film
- The way he looked at you suddenly felt different
- You would feel him staring, but when you would check he would always be scrolling through his phone
- And you’re sure the was a little bit of flirtiness in his tone whenever he spoke to you
- But just because you think you can’t be burnt if you stand far enough away from the fire
- Doesn’t mean that the sparks can’t jump out and get you anyway
- Because all of sudden Reggie started bringing girls home
- And every time you saw a t-shirt that wasn’t yours on the sofa
- Or a pair of shoes discarded by the door
- You felt yourself die a little
- After a few weeks of this
- Something in you snapped
- You’d spent the majority of your life pining after some boy who saw you as nothing more than a friend
- And sometimes a small part of you thought as just an escape route
- So you moped for a few weeks before deciding it was finally time to move on
- Reggie would only ever see you as a friend
- And that’s fine
- The only way to move on, is to move on.
- So you waited for the right guy to move on with
- And there were a few
- But none of them were right
- Until you met Daniel
- Sweet Daniel with curly brown hair and dimples
- Who studied history
- And spent his days sitting in the coffee shop on campus
- For a few weeks the two of you spent your short interactions stealing glances and exchanging shy smiles
- That evolved to small talk with flirty undertones
- Until finally he asked you out
- And you said yes
- And you kept saying yes to each date afterwards
- They were fun too
- He’d take you to museum's and on picnics and at night he’d pick you up and you’d go star gazing
- He would make you laugh when he’d tell you a joke
- And make you blush when he’s whisper in your ear while staring up at the sky
- But he wasn’t him
- And that killed you
- It doesn’t matter how many time he takes you to watch some unknown indie film thats supposed to be the greatest thing ever made
- It has nothing on standing outside the only cinema in town that’s showing ‘sharkcano vs tigerana’ in the freezing cold with Reggie wearing an absolutely ridiculous costumes that Reggie threw together last minute and somehow roped you into wearing too.
- But what hurt even more was watching how Reggie acted around you when you and Daniel started dating
- He looked hurt whenever he saw the two of you together
- And you would watch him roll his eyes whenever you mentioned him
- Until eventually he would just avoid you all together
- Do you know how hard it is to avoid someone when you’re living in the same 2 bedroom flat that barely gives two foot to yourself?
- It’s hard
- But Reggie finds a way
- Eventually you’re more roommates than friends
- And you really don’t know how much more you can take
- You feel like you’re about to break
- And Daniel can see that too
- So on Friday night he invites you to go drinking with him and his friends instead of staying in and moping
- ‘bye, i’m going out’
- ‘wait’
- The speed of which he runs from his room and into the living room where your stood, startles you to say the least
- ‘what?’
- ‘don’t go out with him.’
- ‘why not? what ever george has told you about is a lie. george does that. he once told a bunch of people that you streaked in an old people’s home and almost killed his grandmother’
- ‘because he isn’t me’
- You’ve dreamt of those words
- Built them up in your head for years
- But in all of your daydreams, there’s never been a scenario like this one
- Not one where you’re about to leave to go on a date with another guy
- ‘reggie? what are you talking about?’
- You need to make sure he’s saying what you think he’s saying
- Because you can feel yourself hoping again
- And you know if he doesn’t mean what you want him to
- You don’t think you’ll be able to recover
- ‘i love you y/n. you’re my best friend, you always have been, you always will be and i love you.’
- ‘reg-’
- ‘please tell me you feel the same way’
- ‘i-’
- In your head you had a full oscar worthy speech planned out just in case this ever happened
- But now you’re here in the moment.
- You have no idea what to say
- ‘it doesn’t matter. just leave’
- ‘no’
- ‘what?’
- ‘do you really think i’m going to walk away from you after that? when have i ever walked away from you?’
- ‘i-no’
- ‘i love you too by the way. if you care’
- ‘shut up...wait really?’
- ‘yes i do. i’ve loved you for as long as i can remember so are you going to just stand there or are you going to kiss me?’
- ‘i’m definitely going to kiss you’
- ‘good’
- And he does
- He’s standing in front of you before you can catch your breath
- His hands reach up to cup your cheeks
- His lips part as he stares down at you
- And you’ve never seen him look at anyone the way he’s looking at you
- Like you’re everything good and light in the universe
- And like he’s also been waiting just as long for this moment
- Maybe he has
- Maybe he’s been waiting all his life for this
- He just didn’t know
- You feel whatever breath you had left leave your lungs
- His lips are soft against yours, but he gets his point across
- And you’ve never been happier
- All the heartache and tears
- The laughter and stupid jokes
- The 3am texts
- The constant worrying
- The early mornings and late nights
- The damage to limbs from trying to fit in tiny closets
- And the scrapes on your ankles and bruising on your legs from crawling through his bedroom window
- They’re all worth it
- ‘are you still going on your date?’
- ‘what do you think?’
- ‘good. because they’ve just released werewombats 3’

Meg's Game of Tales: Tale 8
*Familiar characters are NOT mine! The original story of "The Swan Princess" is actually pretty muddled as far as origin, but it appears to be based off a Swedish or German fairy-tale*
Warnings: Swan Princess AU, angst, violence?, a little fluff. Kind of long.
Pairings: Viserys Targaryen x fem!reader
"Are you excited, Brother?" a young Daenerys asked Viserys as they waited once more for the yearly visit from your family. "For what? Another summer with that little brat? Not exactly my idea of fun, Little Sister." Daenerys rolled her eyes. Viserys was always like this when the summer rolled around. He hated not getting his way and never once had he gotten his way when it came to you and your family.
"Well I like Y/N. I can't wait for her to become my sister." A frown made its way to Viserys' face. He despised being reminded of the arrangement between your kingdoms. You and Viserys had been arranged to wed practically from birth. In order to make the idea more "bearable", your parents along with Viserys' decided that you and Viserys would spend EVERY SINGLE SUMMER together. And this particular summer would be the last before the wedding planning would begin. Needless to say, Viserys was not looking forward to it at all.
Growing up, Viserys had found you annoying. You were always trying inject yourself into everything he did. No matter what Viserys was doing outside of his own bedroom/bath chambers, you were there. He never knew if you were simply trying to bother him or if you were trying to get to know him the way your parents wanted you to. And as you grew older, you became close to the guards and other servants in the palace. You were constantly talking to them when Viserys wouldn't talk to you. It was almost like you were flirting with them. Viserys hated it and he grew to hate summers.
The sound of trotting horses reached Viserys' ears and soon enough, the carriage appeared. After a soft scolding from his mother, Viserys straightened up to his full height and he tried not to run as far away as possible. That usual feeling of annoyance and dread began to fill up his stomach while Daenerys chatted away. If she kept it up, Viserys was certain he'd box her ears.
When the carriage pulled to a stop, Viserys held his breath. Your father was the first to step out, offering his hand to someone inside. Viserys was struck dumb when he saw you step down from the carriage, smiling at your father. There was absolutely no way this was the same person that visited him every summer. How had he not noticed how beautiful you'd become?
Your eyes met his and you held your head high as you approached on your father's arm. Your gaze never wavered while you greeted Viserys' family. "Good day, Prince Viserys. It is lovely to see you again," you told him softly with a curtsy. Viserys barely managed to bow before you were all swept up into the castle for preparations for the welcoming feast for the evening.
The feast was, as always, a beautiful and probably over-done affair. But Viserys made it through, his gaze often making its way over to where you were sitting. Whenever you caught him looking, you'd given him a soft smile before going back to your meal. Viserys wanted to speak to you, but he had to wait. When it was finally time to begin the traditional after-feast dance, Viserys couldn't get to you quickly enough.
"Princess," he greeted before sweeping you up in his arms as the music started. For a moment, the two of you were quiet and then began making small talk. All-in-all, things were going well until Viserys made a comment about how beautiful you were. "Thank you, though I suppose that isn't a good enough reason to suddenly be happy about our arrangement."
"And why not? Why should my future queen not be beautiful?" You rolled your eyes. "Beauty isn't what makes a queen, Viserys." Viserys' brows furrowed. "Well, what else is there?" You suddenly stopped dancing and shook your head. "You are an idiot, Viserys. A complete and utter idiot."
With that, you ran off and no one saw you the rest of the evening. In fact, no one saw you the entirety of the next day either. It wasn't until evening that it was discovered that you were missing. The state of your chambers indicated that you had not gone willingly. Viserys instantly saw red. Someone had the audacity to sneak into your chambers and take you from him?! And where the hells were the guards when this happened?! Viserys was livid, executing the two guards that were supposed to be guarding you and your chambers. When he anger was finally spent, Viserys set out to find you.
*time skip*
Viserys spent weeks looking for you. Weeks! And there was nary a sign of you. Viserys was beginning to lose hope and when Viserys lost hope, people suffered. As he searched, Viserys realized why his family and yours had insisted on this arrangement and the summers spent together. You were the only one able to calm Viserys' temper. You could make him see sense. You were the compassionate one. You were everything a queen needed to be. Not just beautiful.
After another long day of searching, Viserys came to a clearing with a lake sitting in the middle. The moon was reflecting off the lake as Viserys sat down on a nearby bench. "Where are you, Y/N?" As expected, no answer came to him. Just a lone swan swooping in and landing on the lake. The swan stared at Viserys, making him a little nervous. That wasn't normal behavior for birds. Was it? Viserys didn't have a chance to think about it when a faint light hit his eyes.
The light grew brighter. So bright that Viserys had to shield his eyes. When he brought his hand down, Viserys was once again speechless. "You came for me," your voice was soft and tears welled up in your eyes. There you were, in the place the swan had just been. Viserys whispered your name and stood up. He barely had time to brace himself before you crashed into him.
"Y/N? What happened to you? Are you hurt?" You pulled away a little and Viserys missed the warmth of having you close. "H-He took me. And awful sorcerer used magic to get into the palace and took me. He's trying to force me to marry him so he can take my father's throne. When I refused, he turned me into a swan. I can become human again when the moonlight hits the lake. That's when he comes to ask me for my hand again."
"He cast a spell on you? Where is he? I'll tear him apart with my bare hands if I have to!" You placed your hand over his mouth and shushed him. "He'll hear you. You can't take him, Viserys. He's too powerful. You'll need the element of surprise. He may have magic but he is not a strong fighter like you." A voice calling your name had suddenly had you jumping away from him.
"You have to go. Go back to the castle and come up with a plan. Any plan. The spell should break if he's dead. Go now. Before he sees you." Viserys wanted to argue, but seeing the fear in your eyes made him do what you said. It was the first time Viserys had ever seen you afraid and that was enough to scare even him a little bit. So he did what you said and returned to the castle to plan a strategy. He would save you. He had to save you.
A few days later, Viserys had his plan and he made his way back through the forest to the clearing with the lake. However, as soon as he set foot in the dark wood, something felt wrong. There was something heavy in the air and a feeling of dread came over him.
Viserys tried to brush it off, but as he pushed forward, the feeling grew. Without even seeing you, Viserys knew you were in danger. He picked up his pace only to stop short when he heard a voice, raspy and eerily calm, calling through the air. "Hurry, little prince. Hurry and I might let you see her one last time." Viserys shook his head to rid himself of the voice, but it simply kept calling to him.
"You thought you could outwit me, but I cannot be so easily defeated. Your princess is dying because of your foolishness." Viserys felt his heart beginning to race and he forced his feet to carry him onward toward the lake. He could feel tree branches cutting at his face and nearly getting tangled in his hair, but he paid it no mind. He would worry about his vanity later. You were his priority. Well, you and making the sorcerer pay dearly for taking you. You were Viserys' and NO ONE took what was his. At least that's how he viewed it in his head. He'd never say that out loud to you. You'd probably slap him.
Finally, just as Viserys was about to give up hope, he broke through the trees to the clearing. Your captor was there, a gloating smile on his face. He didn't look like much. In a physical match, Viserys could easily overpower him. Still, he radiated power like Viserys had never felt before. But the dragon was never one to back down from a fight and this time, the stakes were higher than ever.
"Where is she?" he growled out. The sorcerer simply laughed before stepping to the side slightly. The lone swan laid on the ground, breath hitching more and more every second. You were really dying. "What did you do?!" Viserys shrieked and the sorcerer's disgusting grin grew. "You did this. You and the princess. You could have simply given me what I wanted and this wouldn't have happened. But no. You had to go behind my back. Now, she is dying and there is nothing you can do."
If there was one thing Viserys could not standing, it was losing. The only thing worse than defeat in his eyes was his enemy gloating about the fact. Rage consumed him. Viserys felt hot. Fire welled within him and he was not aware of what was happening until it was too late. The sorcerer screamed in fear as Viserys screamed in agony. His bones were shifting. His skin was changing. Sharp talons grew where nails once were. Wings sprouted from his back. A dragon. A true dragon.
The sorcerer was quicker to react the changes in Viserys, firing some magic spell or other at him. It hit Viserys and the dragon let out a screech of pain. He glanced down at your still form. Fueled on by his need to save you, Viserys steeled his nerves and did the only thing he could think of. He blew fire and before he knew it, the sorcerer was gone. Nothing but a pile of ash.
Once his enemy was gone, Viserys looked at you. No longer a swan, your body was still not moving. Where there was once anger, grief hit Viserys like a sudden storm. His wings and scales disappeared, his limbs shrank back, and the fire in his belly was gone.
As soon as he was back on the ground in his human form, Viserys was at your side. "Y/N?" He scooped you up in his arms and held you to him. For the first time in his life, Viserys felt his eyes filling with tears at the thought of losing you for good.
"You were right," he whispered though it was difficult for him, "There is so much more to marriage and being queen than being beautiful. And you are more than just beautiful. You are everything I ever wanted. Come back to me. As your future king and your husband-to-be, I demand you come back to me." He held you closer to him.
"Who gave you permission to order me around?" your voice rasped out. Viserys let his arms drop a little and he looked at your face to see your beautiful eyes staring back up at him. "You're alive." You nodded and smiled as you tried to sit up a little. "Thanks to you. I guess you really are a dragon." Viserys chuckled. You wrapped your arms around him.
"I love you, Viserys. So much." He didn't reply, but held you more tightly as if he were afraid to let you go. After a moment, you released him so you could look at him again. This time, your face was stern. "But seriously, don't think that just because we're to be married that it means you can order me around!" Viserys shook his head fondly and then captured your lips in a bruising kiss.
(a/n: Okay, so I had this ready over the weekend and just completely forgot to post it because I'm silly. That means you'll get 2 tales this week. These will be the only things I post during my hiatus since they're for a celebration. Anyway, I hope you liked it!)

Greetings fellow wizard fucker👋 I am very glad to find someone else who appreciates mr. Magic man! I would also like to request some headcanons of wizard and a shy farmer, please! Cause I would much rather hang out in a tower doing spells rather than overwhelm myself trying to befriend an entire town. Thank you!
aw shit this is so cute. not as general as the wizard and the (shy) farmer chilling but more specific as to how they got into a relationship mwah. lowkey based on the romanceable rasmodius mod and always @iniro's wizard portrait mod. quite long so you can check it out under the cut!
the first time you met him, there was a sort of relaxing feeling to his place. sure, cold stone walls and all that wizard jazz, but he wasn't pushy or too nice or judgemental. he was just... there
you liked that feeling. he didn't expect anything from you and you didn't expect anything from him. and he was rather good at ending conversations without making you feel awkward.
making friends with the townsfolk is cool but it's weird making friends with them just one at a time— you couldn't handle that. you had to choose.
the first time you visit the wizard for no reason in particular is a rainy, rainy day. lightning lights up the dark clouds and the thunderclaps are so loud it threatens to tear the sky apart.
you wanted to show the wizard some things you had found in the mines. a tiny, warm orb of swirling golden light, and a tiny, icy ball of pitch black ink. and you made sure to leave before it rained but by the time you stood at his doorstep, you were already soaked to the bone.
you hesitate a little— it was always like this at the start— and then knock firmly. once, then twice.
he is shocked to see you standing there, dripling wet at his doorstep. but he ushers you in after a slightly suspicious squint, and when he offers you tea and you hold the little orbs out to him as if sharing marbles, he is so, so, surprised.
he shows you what the orbs do, teaches you little snippets of magic, and then it carries on like so. it becomes a routine, a steady habit you didn't wan't to break.
he eventually tells you to call him by his name. magnus, you say, letting it roll off your tongue, practicing it. magnus, magnus, magnus. i like your name.
his amused smile helps you say with more certainty.
you didn't really want to go to the flower dance. you had no one to dance with and you had chores to do. but attending community gatherings is the first step to forging friendships, isn't it?
your hellos are weak and half-hearted. you finally crack— you don't want to be here ans you're desperately looking for a way out without getting spotted (bridge? pierre. river? willy, pam, leah, and elliott.)
eyeing a crack through the fences, you duck and slip past it, pushung past thick brambles and sidling past trees ubtil you reach what appears to be a steep sort of natural staircase. you climb it and, much to your surprise, you see a familiar face.
you aren't supposed to be up here, the wizard tells you. neither are you, you reply.
did you ask anyone to dance?
laughing, you say, no, i don't think any of them would like to dance with me.
funnily enough, he smiles back (though with a different sort of emotion, you couldn't quite tell which) and says, you could be wrong. you could be a very good dance partner for all you know.
oh, then, would you like to dance with me? you rib, grinning at him now.
the expression on his face shifts and it becomes unreadable. you're hardly surprised when he says, i wouldn't know the steps.
it is his polite way of rejecting you. you're quite sure of that. smiling, you tell him, well, i wouldn't know them either.
sometimes, you just watch him while he works on enchantments and spells. it's nice, watching him work on his craft while you read about firemaking, something you've been working on for a while. you've made a few crops bloom early and even grew a fruit out of season, but you've never tried making fire, something made of raw emotion and passion and magic.
you need to let the energy burst from you, magnus says. then, you need to pull it back in just so. he sounds like a broken radio at this point, always repeating it.
like a lighter? you ask, as if you haven't asked it a thousand times before.
yes, just like that.
you try every emotion. you try when you're happy, when you're sad, when you're angry, when you're not feeling a single thing at all, and when you can feel every damned feeling in the world. it doesn't work.
my hand is broken, you grumble, clutching your cup of tea so fiercely your knuckles are white. or it could be my feelings. probably my feelings.
don't be silly. your hand can't possibly be broken, magnus scoffs, taking the seat across you and picking up his own cup of tea.
incredulously, you ask, you think my feelings are broken? seriously?
magnus shrugs. yes, maybe, i don't know. put down your tea cup and give me your hand.
you oblige and lean across the table, outstretching your arm. he takes your hand in his (you've always admired his hands, rather large and long-fingered but still elegant. you imagined them to be soft... you didn't think you'd be right.) and you're taken aback at the sudden flare of emotion rushing through you. not one you've never known, but one you didn't quite expect.
he flips your hand over and his thumb presses into your palm. he is so, so, so focused on your hand (is that dirt under your nails?) that he fails to see you struggling not to blush
he tells you to flatten your hand, as flat as it can go, then he says something surprising.
how about you try and think of someone you hate? think of burning their face into ash. his face colors a little but his smile is razor sharp. that's how i first did it.
you laugh at that, startled, then you realize he's being serious. you try, trying to see your ex's face hovering over your palm being burnt to a crisp. you try and try and try until you're blue in the face.
it's not working, you tell him angrily.
a pensive look falls across his face. magnus has a tendency to stick out his lower lip as if he was pouting when he thinks. you feel your anger ebbing away at the silly face he's making. your heart pounds harder than ever and you can hardly look at him, your cheeks flushing.
he is still holding onto your hand when a fire bursts into life, white hot. it cools to a pale shade of blue, flickering like a kitchen flame. it is as hot as the summer sun on your shoulders, so hot it could burn.
magnus yelps. so do you, and the fire dies. your hand is unmarred but, clearly, at magnus' hisses of pain, you've singed his fingers.
i'm sorry, i didn't mean to! you cry out, a worried look on your face. to your utter shock, he smiles.
what did you think of? he asks, a pleased smile on his lips. your flame was as blue as spirit fire.
i- i- i didn't think of anything, really. i'm not sure, you stutter out, avoiding his eyes. fuck. you're screwed. he's always been good at seeing lies and he didn't like any kind of them.
his frown tells you that he didn't not believe your weak excuse.
you avoid magnus for a while. you break your comforting routine and you thrust yourself into making friends with people in town. it helps just a little, lifting your spirits. one day, in the forest, you see leah asking for your help-- she wants to reach a fruit on a tree. you never looked in the direction of magnus' tower anymore. you hesitate for a moment, then you help leah, your gaze anywhere but on the tower.
try as you might, your gaze is on the tower. how could it not be, when what you are drawn to is its sharp little roof and the large telescope sticking out of it, and the ivy creeping up and down its stone brick walls? how could you not be drawn to it when it was a place you could almost call home?
i shouldn't be prying, leah says all of a sudden once you've let her down and you turn to walk away. but you used to visit the tower's occupant, didn't you? i just always saw you walking back and forth.
you stare at her for a moment, and then two. yes, i did, you finally reply. i'll visit soon. just... not now.
you are far too confused to go back. not yet. did you really like magnus that way? or was it a fluke, just a lonely, touch-starved person reaching for a body to hold on to, friendships be damned? you didn't want to fuck this up. you haven't made a proper fire in a week. you miss the surge of energy, of power, of emotion. you miss him.
pierre has taken to selling bouquets. bright, colorful flowers. they're for a special someone, he says to you when he catches you looking at them curiously. for heartfelt confessions, if i couldn't be any plainer.
you buy one and keep it in your house, in a vase with water to keep it alive. you wonder if it is worth the risk. you can see the tower's roof from the second floor of your house. you settle in with the bouquet at your right hand and a cup of tea in the left.
it has been an entire two weeks since you've last seen him. in fairness, it is nearing the end of fall and most of your heavy rumination has been during your farm chores as you work to keep in pace with your harvest to prepare for the incoming winter season.
you decide to tell him that you like him romantically. and if he doesn't care for you in that way, you will try and salvage your friendship to the best of your abilities. it is a foolhardy plan, as magnus would put it, but it is the best plan you have.
the last autumn rain is slowly falling and you pick up the pace, not wanting to get the bouquet dripping wet. your bag hangs at your side, filled to the brim with glittering balls of light and darkness.
when you finally stand at his dooratep, lightning lights up the dark clouds and the thunderclaps are so loud it threatens to tear the sky apart. you are soaked to the bone, but you have heated up your hand just enough to dry your clothes at a pat and touch.
you hesitate a little— just like at the start— and then knock firmly. once, then twice.
the door swings open and the surprise on magnus' face would have been comedic, if it were not for the circumstances. he stares at you, lamely carrying a bouquet upside down, dripping wet.
can i come in? you ask, surprised at the unwavering tone of your voice. unless you're busy. then i'll go.
magnus nods mutely (you're confused for a second there, and he steps aside to let you in before locking the door behind you. for a moment, you two just stand there silently, drowning in the awkward silence. then, he breaks it just as you do.
let me get some tea for you, you're dripping water on my floor, you might get sick—
i brought something for you, you weren't actually doing—
for a moment, everything is back as it was and you laugh and he chuckles at the predicament. then, you try and stomp off as much water as possible right at his door. you keep drying yourself with your heated hand and you remove your shoes and socks, marveling at the warmth of the floor. magnus disappeared to make tea— you follow after him, careful not to ruin the bouquet.
so, why are you here? he asks, his tone careful, once you seat yourself at his tea table. you've been gone a while. busy with the fall harvest?
yes, i was busy. but i was also avoiding you, you tell him honestly, and you can see him stiffen at that.
why? did i do something?
no, i did. i was confused and scared... i didn't want to lose my only friend, you know. it wasn't right for me to just up and leave for 2 weeks, though, i'm sorry.
he sits across you and hands you your cup of hot, steaming tea. what did you do?
i acted like a fool, you say, taking a sip to warm yourself. you feel your confidence waning. you have never been so straightforward in your life— what on earth is wrong with you? so you see, magnus, this is for you. you jerk your head in the direction of the bouquet on its side, flowers a little limp and raindrops on its many bright petals.
he looks confused. confused but appreciative. er, thank you for the bouquet. it's lovely. and he leaves it at that.
you stare at him, bewildered. then, you start to laugh. you... you don't know what it means, then? you move your tea cup of the saucer and you rip your bag open, fumbling for the balls of solar and void essence.
no, i'm afraid i don't, he replies, starting to sound a little annoyed and exasperated. care to enlighten me?
you put the solar and void essence on the saucer and push it towards him. you smile a little mournfully at the sudden surprise on his face and say, it means i like you, magnus. romantically.
the room falls silent. he looks up at you and you can hear him thinking and you can see the flush on his face as he stammers out a response, but you shake your head, i was thinking we could still be friends if you didn't like me back. but that’s not fair for either of us, is it? you’re right and you know it, but that doesn’t mean you don’t feel the hot shame prickling under your skin.
you turn to leave. i’m really sorry about this. i’m so sorry i had to ruin it.
no, no, don’t go. i didn’t know what the bouquet meant, really, i didn’t. i’m glad you were honest with me. look, i didn’t say i didn’t like you back that way. don’t go. please? he says all this in a rush and you freeze, trying to comprehend what he just said.
you... like me back? you ask, your voice suddenly meek.
i haven’t ‘liked’ anyone since i was a teenager, magnus says, mirth in his voice. but, yes, it could be just that.
a hand clasps your wrist and you turn around to look at him, his eyes shining with warmth and his cheeks a soft pink. are you still going? he asks, his brows knotting. you know he’s referring to the storm.
no. no, i think i can stay, you tell him, and you take your seat once more. to your utter surprise an amusement, you hear the scrape of his chair and find him sitting next instead of across you this time.
making friends becomes easier during the winter. you don’t have much to do, really, and so you split your time between the mines, fishing, the pub, and the tower.
you didn't really want to go to the flower dance. you had no one to dance with in particular and you had chores to do. but attending community gatherings is important, especially because you’re part of the said community.
you greet everyone cheerfully and they ask you about your farm. you’re grateful that they are too eager for the festivities to begin to make any more conversation aside from small talk. it is time to make your exit, you think
eyeing a crack through the fences, you duck and slip past it, pushing past thick brambles and sidling past trees until you reach what appears to be a steep sort of natural staircase. you climb it and, to your amusement, you see a familiar face.
you aren't supposed to be up here, magnus tells you. neither are you, you say cheerfully.
did you ask anyone to dance? he says, and you can hear the jesting undertone.
laughing, you say, no, i’d much rather dance with one person in particular.
he smiles back (though with a different sort of emotion, you still couldn't quite tell which, but you know it is something warm and sweet) and says, not that i would dance down there, but i think i’d rather dance with a very specific person, too.
oh, then, would you like to dance with me? you rib, grinning at him now.
the expression on his face shifts and he huffs out a laugh. you're hardly surprised when he says, i wouldn't know the steps.
you shrug, then reply, well, i could teach you. what do you say?
he blushes, but smiles in return. later, perhaps. when we are alone.
leaning towards magnus, you press a kiss to his lips, one he gladly returns.

Tan Hands and Tan Lines
Day Three, Side A: Ubiquitous
(read it here on AO3)
Nobody wants to spend their summer vacation working. But spending it with your two best friends wasn’t too bad. So when Mercedes told Rachel and Kurt that there were two openings at the retro fifties diner in downtown Lima, they jumped on the opportunity.
Diner in the Sky started out as a relatively slow job. It had just opened a few months ago and the word hadn’t gotten out to much of the city that it even existed. In those early days, Kurt and his friends spent the afternoons and nights singing through the empty store, twirling on black and white checkered floors. Finn and some of the other New Directions would stop by before the sunset and order milkshakes with fries. He and Rachel would not-so-mysteriously disappear for five or so minutes, and Kurt noticed the way Mercedes and Sam giggled around each other. He eventually cornered her during a graveyard shift, and she admitted that they had been dating in secret since prom. It took two days for Mercedes to win Kurt back, after buying him the new Marc Jacobs piece he had been dreaming about.
It was a cute job with even cuter outfits. Until July fourth came around.
The mayor of Lima stopped by that night and made a big show of it all, forever putting the little diner on the map. The appearance knocked out every ubiquitous fast food joint in town. It’s been packed every night since.
“I need a number five without onions!” Kurt hears Rachel scream into the kitchen, followed by the clanging of a few plates. She storms out a minute later, hair sticking to the sweat on her face.
“I hate this job,” she grumbles to him as she makes her way to another table of hungry customers.
Kurt leans his body weight against the counter. The metal is cool against his skin, a nice distraction from the oppressive summer heat. The bar isn’t nearly as packed tonight as the rest of the restaurant, mostly just little kids ordering heart attack inducing malts and ice cream cones. He’s adjusting the stupid rectangle shaped hat on his hat when he hears the door jingle at nine o’clock on the dot.
Blaine Anderson strolls into the diner with his little private smile, pulling his usual denim jacket off as he goes. He’s humming again, a pop song Kurt notices. Probably Katy Perry. He overheard Blaine tell Rachel she was his most listened to artist last week. Not that he was listening to hear if his name came up in conversation or anything like that. That would be crazy.
They meet eyes for a brief second, hazel to blue. Blaine grins before sliding onto one of the red leather barstools. “Hell again?” His cheeks are flushed pink, but Kurt blames it on the heat.
“Yeah,” Kurt replies, sounding breathier than usual. Blaine has a way of doing that to him. With his funny quirks and ability to make restaurant issued bowties sexy, the Dalton Academy junior has snuck his way into Kurt’s heart from the second he started working with him.
There’s a particularly loud crash in the corner of the building, followed by a baby screaming. Blaine takes a moment to sober himself, eyelashes fanning out on the apple of his cheeks. “I better get to work. I mean, I should get to work.” He’s flailing, adorably so. “I mean, I should check that out.” Blaine stumbles. The back of his neck is red as he walks away.
“Remind me again why you won’t ask him out?” Mercedes says with a poke to Kurt’s shoulder. Her hair is still intact, textured curls bouncing at her shoulders. The only way you’d know she had been working was the ketchup colored stains on her baby blue dress and apron. “He’s obviously into you.”
Kurt’s thought about it so many times, and the answer is that he doesn’t know. Competing schools wasn’t an excuse, it was summer. Besides, the Warblers had been so gracious in their loss at Regionals that they invited the New Directions over for coffee at the Lima Bean.
Truth is, he was scared. He’s never had a boyfriend, let alone asked a boy out or even told one they were handsome. This is still Ohio, and being out and proud has its consequences. He knows Blaine is gay at least, so his crushing isn’t creepy.
It sort of terrifies him to care about someone so deeply. When Blaine came in with red rimmed eyes after his fifteen minute break one night in the middle of June, Kurt sat with him as he ranted about how awful his dad was. He’s the only friend Kurt has that likes to watch old black and white movies for fun. Blaine makes him laugh so hard he cries, and everytime he brushes past Kurt during the busy nights, the spot tingles for until he gets home.
Kurt sighs. “I don’t know.” He rests his head against the edge of the soda machine. “Crushes are so damned difficult.” Mercedes hums in sympathy.
“It’ll work out, boo. Even if Rachel and I have to force the two of you to close together like last time.” He can feel her laugh beside him, and soon he’s laughing too. That was a good night.
“Kurt! ‘Cedes!” Rachel all but screams, turning a few heads. After knowing the girl for two years, he’s convinced she only has two settings: Loud and Louder.
Her face is bright pink and there’s a deep crease between her brows. She’s got her Business Face on. “What’re you two doing? This large party just came in, and you guys are just sitting here! A little help would be appreciated!” She huffs, pumps tapping against the floor as she walks to the back at a dizzying speed.
Kurt and Mercedes share an eye roll before going opposite ways. The party Rachel was talking about is huge, five adults and three kids under ten years old. After finding a table large enough so they’d all be comfortable, he pulls out a notepad and asks what drinks he can get them started with.
An older woman starts speaking in rapid fire Italian, gesturing to the rest of the group, who nod in return. Kurt instantly regrets taking up French instead of literally any other language.
“I’m so sorry,” he says, hoping they could understand. “I don’t understand what you’re saying.”
A younger man with a beard cocks his head and speaks in an incredibly thick accent. How a family of Italians decided to spend a summer in boring Ohio confuses him. “Could we get another waiter?” He stutters through the sentence, and Kurt feels bad to inconvenience them.
There’s a familiar tingle on his left shoulder. “I can help them,” Blaine whispers, side-stepping him to get closer to the table. He says something to the family, who grin back at him. He has that effect on people.
“You speak Italian?” Kurt hisses. This guy is just full of surprises.
Blaine puts his head down and smiles. He shrugs like everyone in America is fluent in the romantic language. “I spent a few summers in southern Italy with my grandmother when I was younger.” Because of course he did.
“Oh,” Kurt offers lamely. “Okay, well tell them I’m really sorry for any inconvenience.”
Blaine smirks at him and turns to the table. He says something to them, laughing afterwards. Kurt watches behind him, amazed at the way Blaine can make anyone feel so important. Not to mention Italian is such a hot language to hear coming out of his mouth.
A kid who can’t be above twelve pipes up, pointing back to Kurt. The rest of the family looks back at him too.
Kurt pulls at the edge of his crisp button down. They’re looking back and forth between him and Blaine, unnerving him beyond belief. He feels called out and exposed even though he has no idea what’s being said about him. So he just returns a wavering smile and turns to leave and prepares to never show his face again when he hears it.
Amore.
That stops him in his tracks. Love? Kurt’s no language expert, but the word is pretty universal in every one of them. He turns around to ask Blaine for a translation, but to his surprise he’s gone uncharacteristically silent.
Blaine eventually stammers through a reply, hands stuck stiffly at his sides. Kurt hears him murmur, “I’ll be back with your drinks,” before walking into the kitchen as fast as he can. He won’t make eye contact with Kurt the rest of the night.
Diner in the Sky closes at eleven every night, and it takes another thirty minutes on a good day to scrub stains from the tabletops and lock everything up. It’s Kurt’s night to close up. Usually either Rachel or Mercedes is on schedule to help him, but since his luck is just absolute shit, he has to clean up the place with Blaine.
Closing up is usually an intimate job. Just two people, the nostalgia of an old diner, and a jukebox. Depending on who you’re with, it’s either heaven or hell. Kurt’s not sure which one he’ll get tonight. The other two times he’s had to suffer through it with Blaine, it’s been fun. They dirtied dishes making vanilla shakes and doo-wopping along to the jukebox tunes.
Tonight feels like purgatory. Blaine avoids him at any cost. If Kurt goes to mop the kitchen floors, he goes to the front room, and vice versa. He won’t speak to him, or even acknowledge him when he accidentally sweeps Kurt’s feet. It’s fine at first, Kurt can handle the awkwardness. But eventually, it simmers to anger.
“Can I talk to you?” He calls after Blaine. He stops like a kid caught in the cookie jar, hand freezing on the light switch. He turns slowly, eyes as big as saucers.
“Yeah?”
Kurt glares at him for a moment before speaking. “Look, I don’t know what that family said to you, but it gives you no right to be so absolutely rude—”
“They said I looked like I loved you.” It comes out as if it pains him to say.
That sentence makes any anger Kurt has, flow out of him and into a pond on the floor. Love?
He scraps up any dignity he has left and smiles to himself. “Well, do you?”
“Do I what?” Blaine snaps, coming to sit on the stool next to him. His leg trembles on the floor. Kurt can recognize now the little tells he didn’t know he ever noticed; how Blaine presses his thumb and ring finger together when he’s especially nervous, the way his eyes seem to light up when he looks at him.
“Love me?” Kurt continues, heart threatening to beat out of his chest. He wants to hear him say it.
Blaine doesn’t answer, instead opting to bury his head into his hands. Kurt hears him mumble to himself. Something about not the right time and tan messed everything up. His stomach flip flops.
“So,” Kurt drags, tapping the edge of the metal counter. “Love, huh?”
“Shut up,” Blaine mutters. They sit in comfortable silence for a little, until the hum of Ella Fitzgerald fizzles off the record. Then, Kurt feels a warm, almost clammy hand on top of his. It’s enough of an answer for him.

No Bad Student | 6 -- You're Alright, LaRusso
{x}
Pairing: Lawrusso (Daniel x Johnny) Genre: Angst Warnings: None Word count: 2287 Summary: KK2 AU in which Johnny ends up living with Miyagi and Daniel for the summer. Inspired by nadianecromancer’s comic, but I’ll try to avoid making any scenes similar to the ones they already did! Notes: This was originally posted on Ao3 here.
First Chapter | Previous Chapter | Next Chapter (coming soon)
They both shared a sigh of relief, though Daniel’s was perhaps more desperate. Silence filled the room again and both were just as unwilling to venture a glance toward the other. The pause seemed endless. It was like they’d be stuck in this awkward limbo for the rest of their lives. Then, as if things couldn’t get worse, Johnny started laughing. At first a little stifled chuckle, then, as the bedframe came down gently on its new legs, it turned to an all-out fit.
The sound brought up sharp, sudden rage in Daniel, who looked on with a scowl. “What?! What’s so funny, huh?”
“I--... Sorry, I just--...” He stifled the last remaining mirth, catching his breath. “That was just so fucking weird, man.”
“What was weird about it?” Daniel said before he thought.
“Are you kidding me? That was weird as fuck. Like… I never thought I’d be that close to you without like… kicking your ass right after.”
“Right, like you could.” Daniel got away with the first word-vomit, but, from the way the mood shifted in that instant, he was sure he wouldn’t get away with this one.
“What the hell is that supposed to mean, LaRusso?”
He decided to think a bit before he spoke this time. “Look, man, I just--”
“Don’t go backpedaling now, man. You think you could take me in a real fight, you’re dead wrong.” And just as quickly as they separated, Johnny stepped within a foot of Daniel, glaring down at him with deadly ire.
They weren't quite as close, but Daniel’s restless heart couldn’t tell the difference. He kept his gaze downward, avoiding Johnny; though, despite his efforts, Johnny's imposing figure took up much of his vision.
“You think you’re hot shit now that you won one fight? Nah, man. Just cause you have Ali doesn’t mean you can--”
“I don’t ‘have’ Ali.” He interrupted, some new rage burning in his words.
Johnny’s intimidation blunted, sending him back a few steps. “What?”
“We broke up a month ago.” His words were pointed but his expression was blank, as it was before. It was like he was confusing him on purpose.
“What’d you do?” Johnny responded without time for thought.
Daniel looked up with a scowl. “What the hell do you mean, ‘what did I do?’ Why’s it gotta be my fault?” Anger was a fine emotion to show him, apparently.
“‘Cause I know Ali, asshole. Now, what’d you do?”
“I didn’t do anything! She ran off with some football player from UCLA!”
There it was again, that laugh of his, like a cup of gasoline on an open flame.
“What?! What could possibly be funny about that!?”
Johnny replied firstly with a cruel grin, though there was something off about it. “Now you know what it’s like.” He said, softer than he should have.
Daniel turned away, his face flushing. “No! No, that’s not the same thing.”
“Oh yeah? How is it any different?”
“You hadn’t talked to her for weeks, man! You were done!”
“Two weeks.”
“She wanted nothing to do with--... What’d you say?”
Johnny’s words were spoken underneath Daniel’s -- quiet, solemn, same as before. “We were split up for two weeks, then you showed up.”
Daniel stopped at once, brown eyes wide like a deer caught in headlights.
“Y’know how long we were together?” He smirked, reveling in Daniel’s pain, but in his eyes, it was clear he wasn’t the only one hurting. “Two years.”
He was still too close. Anywhere in the room was too close. He stepped back, but couldn’t escape the horrible feeling bubbling up in his chest. He searched desperately for something he could throw back in his face, but how do you even respond to that? Eventually, he settled on the least volatile. “Oh,” he breathed out, eyes trained on the ground.
“Yeah, ‘oh.’” Johnny wandered over to take another defeated seat on his bedroll, though it felt more like a pyrrhic victory than a pure loss.
“Well, but--... But that doesn’t--”
“It doesn’t excuse what I did, I know.” He mumbled, absentmindedly twisting the cloth between his fingers. “But don’t you wanna go find that UCLA douche and kick the shit out of him?”
Daniel breathed a quiet laugh before he could stop it, erasing his smile as soon as he could manage. “Well, sure, but I’m not gonna. That’s not what Miyagi taught me.” He sat across from Johnny, legs crossed on the wooden floor.
Johnny’s eyes moved to the door momentarily. “What’d he teach you?”
“Karate’s for defense only.”
“Well, there ya go. I wasn’t taught that pussy shit.”
“It’s not ‘pussy shit,’ it’s real karate. Not like that garbage Kreese was teaching you.” Just as the words left his mouth, he thought back to the first time he brought up this same topic. He braced for impact.
But the impact never came. Johnny just sat on that bedroll, staring at the floorboards, solemn and silent.
Something about that hit Daniel harder than an angry outburst ever could. There was that image of him -- sitting on the curb, broken glass sparkling on the ground around him. It matched up perfectly. It wouldn’t leave his mind. “I’m sorry.” He whispered, just loud enough to break the silence.
Johnny’s eyes met his, puzzled. “For what?”
“I saw what happened with your sensei, I shouldn’t have mentioned him,” Daniel explained.
But the confusion didn’t cease. “Why do you care?” The words were spat out but were meant genuinely.
“Well ‘cause--...” Daniel started, then took a moment to consider his words carefully. “Mr. Miyagi says there’s no such thing as a bad student, just a bad teacher, right? So--... So I mean, you gettin’ all aggressive and acting like an--... Well, acting the way you did, that’s on him for how he taught you. Y’know what I mean?”
Johnny’s stare was unending as he tried to pick his words apart, his expression hopeful, then fearful, then ultimately clouded by rage. “And what about what you did, huh?”
“What? What’re you talkin’ about?”
“Sticking your nose where it doesn’t belong, not leaving well-enough alone? I was gonna call my guys off before you pulled that shit at the Halloween party."
“Oh, come on, Johnny, you and your stupid biker gang were kicking my ass every other day. You weren’t gonna stop. What am I gonna do, just sit and take it?”
“Well yeah, maybe! I mean, you were asking for it. If you would’ve just left Ali alone--”
“What, and nobody’s supposed to date her ever again?”
“Two weeks, man!”
“Yeah, and you had to be the one to tell me that!”
“Did you even ask?”
“Of course I asked! She said ‘weeks,’ that’s it. If she had any intention of getting back together with you, she would’ve said so, Johnny, but she didn’t. She said ‘weeks.’”
The tension in the air only heightened as Johnny considered his words. His lip curled up in disgust, but his glare faltered, and he was left staring at the floorboards again.
“I tried, man. I tried to just talk to you. I tried to tell you that guy was bad news, but you wouldn’t have any of it.”
“You don’t understand, man. You don’t get how much you took from me.” Johnny growled, desperate to shut him up.
“Goddammit, Johnny, I didn’t take anything from you! You lost!” Daniel half-screamed, the energy of the phrase lifting him from his seat.
Johnny followed. “I lost one fight and now, what, I deserve to be miserable? Maybe you’re a lot more like my sensei than you think you are.”
“I’m not talking about the fight, Johnny, for fuck’s sake, can you consider something other than fighting for once?”
“And what else am I supposed to consider, huh?”
“You lost Ali! You did! I didn’t ‘steal’ her from you, she stopped talking to you because you stopped being a person she wanted to talk to.”
“You got no idea what the fuck you’re talking about.”
“What, you think her snobby Encino friends ever stopped talking about how ‘great of a boyfriend’ you were? Do you know how many times I had to hear your name after that tournament was over? I probably know more about that breakup than you do!”
“Fuck you, man.”
“Fantastic argument there, Johnny, good one.”
“Well, what do you want me to say?! That I’m sorry?!”
“That’d be a start!”
“Well then, I’m sorry, alright?! God, of course I’m sorry! You think I feel good about beating the shit out of a person half my size? About lying to my mom about why my clothes were covered in your blood? You think I don’t hate myself just as much as you do?”
The room deafened. The adrenaline in each rival’s mind dissipated, giving way to fear, regret, and sadness. Then, as Daniel’s breaths became heavy, he noticed a glint in Johnny’s eyes that brought him both serenity and pain.
“I just--... I saw you with her. I saw how happy you were and--... and how happy you made her. And--…” His eyes widened to keep in the tears, focused forward, but still, they fell. “And I just thought… ‘I need to make him feel pain...’ God, that sounds awful when I say it out loud like that.”
His words still frightened Daniel, but not enough to prevent him from taking a few steps closer.
“What if--… LaRusso, what if your Sensei was wrong?” The rage was long dead. His eyes were wide, desperate, terrified. There was no less fear hidden in his icy blue gaze than there was in Daniel’s not a few hours before.
“About what?” Daniel said cautiously.
“What if it’s not Cobra Kai? What if it’s just me? What if I’m just a bad person? I mean, what if there’s something wrong with me?”
Daniel shook his head immediately, refusing such a thing without a second thought. Was it that he didn’t think Miyagi could be wrong, or that he saw hope in Johnny’s fearful expression? Maybe it was both. Or maybe it was that feeling, the one he couldn’t explain, pushing his breaths out faster, pulling his arm out to touch Johnny’s shoulder.
He looked at the hand, fear fading to confusion. “I--...” He started, but his mouth fell closed.
“It’s alright, Johnny,” Daniel said softly, then pulled him into a hug.
The warmth shocked him. It took a few seconds before his body relaxed, then his arms climbed across Daniel’s back, holding him the same way he was held.
“You’re not a bad person. Miyagi can help you, alright?” Daniel’s voice was muffled into Johnny’s chest.
“I’m--... I’m sorry.” Johnny repeated.
Finally, Daniel pulled away, keeping that same hand rested on his shoulder, maintaining all the warmth and comfort he could provide in a smile. “I got that part.”
Johnny laughed through his tears, a welcome sound, now.
“Now, you’re not planning on kicking my ass while I’m sleepin’, are ya?” Daniel said as his hand dropped, warm smile falling to a grin.
The grin was matched. “Depends,” he started, his voice still strained, “are you as much of a cocky little shit asleep as you are awake?”
Daniel laughed, audibly. Imagine that. Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence, smiling and laughing at the same time for once.
“I’m not gonna fuck with you anymore, man. I shouldn’t even be here. I won’t push my luck like that.”
“Why do you need to stay here tonight anyway?”
Johnny’s shoulders tightened, his fatigued smile falling, but not gone. “Got kicked out.” He regained his seat on the bedroll.
“Why? You do something?” Not a moment passed before Daniel plopped himself down in front of Johnny, leaning his back against the bedframe.
“Nah, my stepdad just wanted to get rid of me.” He said casually as if it were a joke. “Now you gotta deal with me instead.”
“So it’s not just gonna be tonight, huh?”
His smile dropped.
“Oh! Well, it’s not--... I’m not saying that’s a bad thing.”
“Nah, it’s alright. I get it. I’ll try to keep it as quick as possible.”
“Johnny, no, really, it’s fine. I’m not gonna--”
“Dude, you fucking hate me. I understand. You don’t need to pretend not to just ‘cause I cried like a bitch in front of you.”
“I’m not pretending. I really think Mr. Miyagi can help you.”
Slowly, that smirk of his returned. “You’re alright, LaRusso.”
Fear washed over Daniel for just a moment but was gone as soon as it came. He gave a warm smile back to him. “You said that before.”
“Oh yeah.” Johnny looked off, recollecting. “It was a fun fight, I’ll give you that.”
He hummed a laugh. “Glad to hear my terrified flailing was entertaining to you.”
“Nah man, that wasn’t flailing. You’re a good fighter.” Johnny fell back on the bedroll, blonde hair puffing up as he did. “Not as good as me, but pretty good.”
“Oho! Somebody need a reminder of who won that fight?” Daniel grinned.
Johnny chuckled lowly, his eyes fluttering closed. “Nah, man, I wasn’t prepared for your shit then. Rematch.”
“Oh, what, you think that’ll change anything?”
“Mhm.”
Daniel let a quiet laugh fill the lapse in conversation, then stood and began to pace. It was getting dark out, the last red-orange glow of the sun the only light in the room. It felt strange. It was like he was in a liminal space, or a dream: quiet, calm, but somewhat offputting. Still, a determination filled his spirit that wasn’t present before, at least not with a source like this. Finally, he decided. “Y’know what, you’re on.”
But by the time the challenge was accepted Johnny was taken by the coming night, curled up on the bedroll, silent and serene.
