maybe unpopular opinion but i wish blogs were popular/more ‘normal’ again like they used to be like sometimes i wonder what some random guy i knew 3 years ago is doing now and what he wants for dinner. like instagram, twitter and other apps dont have that kind of appeal even though plenty of people “blog” on those sites (daily posts ig idk) even then people dont post to insta daily anymore like people used to tend to years ago. also im just saying this most likely due to my own biases with liking old layouts and stuff and i hate change. idk im just rambling but basically i wish people were into blogs again but theres more rambling in tags

This is late but i saw that anon you replied to who said they’re gen z but never got into IG or tiktok. I’m 22 and never had a facebook, twitter, instagram, and definitely will never have a tiktok. N tbh i truly am out of touch with people my age because of it, i fr do not relate to alot of women my age because they’re so into social media culture and are still in the dark depths of being super influenced to hate themselves and their natural bodies and to center men in their life, and I’m already at the better part of healing of all the self hatred and sexual objectification of myself, and i fully put that on me not being on these platforms like.. ever. I know for a fact i’d be the worst, most unhealthy me if i did what most women my age do on social media🤷‍♀️ but it’s a lot of pressure still, cause i feel extremely behind, and it’s isolating because i just don’t give a fuck to constantly talk about my appearance, tiktok beauty trends, dating and whatever else, it always seems to be the go to conversations when I’m in a group of women my age, it just drags me back to 16-17 year old me harming herself in many different ways to be “That Girl”. They talk how i did, it’s not a healthy setting or topics that should be constantly talked about for me or for anyone tbh, it’s too common for gen z women to bond over hating their bodies and the hyper sexualization of themselves. Imo it is a very different mindset between gen z women who are a part of social media culture and gen z women who are not. That’s just my personal experience and observation though!

TBH i dont separate myself from this because i'm also influenced by those types of social media platforms like a lot of women my age are, but just to a lesser extent. they're really built to shape your mind and have you reliant on them for a sense of validation and dopamine, literally like a drug lmfao. every other week there's a new trend on tiktok instilling insecurities directly into ppls heads and ppl even call it out for its ridiculousness but then will still internalise the message, it's exhausting.....anyway i get you. that's why i never got into insta really because i just couldn't fathom everything being so aesthetic and appearance-driven, all that performance and influencers dominating the space normalising extreme plastic surgery and face tune and tummy teas and whatever else - obviously you can curate your own feed, but it never felt fun at all. i think what you said about young women bonding over hating ourselves is extremely pertinent, so true. i see it all the time, in even the most casual of exchanges, and i think it'd be obtuse to say social media hasn't played a giant role in that! it upsets me bc i always wonder who we could all be and how we would all see ourselves if we hadn't been raised on this mental diet of bodies as a beauty trend and a commodity. im really glad you managed to circumvent this issue by building a healthy relationship with yourself and your own mind, without any sort of online pressure telling you who or what to be. i get that it can be isolating, though. hopefully in the future we'll see more ppl taking social media breaks and focusing on their mental health a little more, then it won't be so alienating. maybe that's wishful thinking on my part though, lmfao. ty for sharing <3

And yeah, I don’t think there would be anything wrong with her wanting to document her personal life. She was a sad teenager who now has a husband and three kids and people who really care about her. Her having a personal insta would not be the most unbelievable thing in the world.

She would most probably only scroll through insta from someone else’s phones or accounts, even then, only occasionally.

I could believe that she doesn’t use it as frequently as some of the others. Maybe there’s weeks or months between her posts. It’s definitely not the first thing she does in the morning. She might not even open the app every day. But there’s a time and place for it.

Everyone’s Youtube subscriptions or recs would be interesting! I can totally believe her putting something on in the background while she works, having diy or rebuild channels on. There’s one youtuber that I watched for a while who was rebuilding a cabin and I always thought it would have been nice if Emmy in the 9 years had a small cabin that she rebuilt, maybe as a place to go between school semesters, so she didn’t have to find a place to rent, and it gave her something to work on. It would have been a nice way for her to work through some stuff, process what had happened to her, and figure herself out a little.

I know I have some pretty plain ideas about how Emmy spent that time, but I, like everyone else, wish she had done something for herself and had a life worth remarking about outside of Thunder Bay, outside of Will.

it angered him a lot the first few times, but when he was around 14 and he saw it happen again, this time while they were in vacation in like fuck idk some place in the country or smth ok im tired. k lost it a bit and in his anger, he set fire to one of his father’s many cars. parents got angry at him. kavinsky spilled the tea that he knows both are cheating and it was Wild but im 2 lazy to describe it. dad compromised with him that if he doesnt tell anyone else & agrees to go to a boarding school of his parent’s choice, he can do anything he wants. 

the boarding school was in california & k was equal parts happy (bc hes away from his parents) but also severely angry (bc he absolutely despised the education system and school in general)

it’s a miracle that he made it to graduation tbh but he wanted to be able to do whatever the hell he wanted

currently he has no communication with his parents, or more correctly, he never answers his parents’s calls or texts

k moved to san diego after graduation & started working at the disney store in fashion valley a short bit after.
