there's supposed to be a very sharp contrast between old earth (where magic is integral to society) and new earth (where magic basically isn't talked about) but i don't really know how to. communicate that

#worldbuilding #plot tag #which. the concept is inspired by onward and that movie also didn't have a clear contrast between when magic was common and when it wasn't #but in that movie magic isn't like. something you're born being able to do. whereas here you literally can't choose to Not be a magic user #everyone is born with the power to do magic whether they want to or not #i guess like. making locations less magic dependant works. like having avian wildiner cities be grounded #in order for them to be accessible to everyone but in turn making it so theres no real reason for the people of the town to use their wings #but i think that kinda leads into a bigger discussion of. does the world really need magic anymore if it just made things worse #which is something i've debated for a long time and something that i think would be interesting to explore in s2
