Hugs or kisses - Hugs! I love hugs! The warm feeling of human contact, knowing you’re wanted. Hugs are the greatest when it’s with someone taller so you can hide from the world in their embrace

Lips or eyes - I’m going with lips. Eyes are gorgeous, don’t get me wrong, but I love the way people’s lips move differently when they talk. Or the way lips stretch in different shapes when people smile... now I’m soft...

Shorter or taller - I always say I hate being short and hate having to look up at taller people but,,, honestly,,, I don’t mind it all that much. As I said before, hugging taller people is wonderful, and tall people make me feel safer, as if they can protect me.

Older or younger - I don’t think I care much. I have older and younger friends alike, but I have noticed I have the tendency to baby my younger friends much. Going in mother mode, calling them ‘kid’ affectionately, that sort of thing

Well.  First you must understand that there was drinking involved and so I may not 100% remember everything correctly but I do remember how I felt during our meeting.  I was talking to him with 3 other people and it was all very casual.  This was during Burcon last year.  I let him know I was a Dean/Cas shipper and that he was my favorite writer and that I thought he wrote Cas and Destiel best and that 9x06 remains one of my favorite episodes.  Anyway.  We got talking about different things (with me doing most of the talking, I’ll be honest).  I brought up the way SPN handles pop culture references to thematically tie into different narrative situations.  I used the group he mentioned in 9x06 (an offbeat reference that dealt with how children’s sexuality and consent was handled somewhere in New Guinea, idk, I’m sure it’s documented in the divine review of 9x06) as an example.  He told me that meta writers were VERY CLEVER but that sometimes the writers are not thinking of all these thematic tie ins.  And I KNEW that, I did, but to hear him say this against his own episode (which was FILLED with tons of dubcon references to reflect what was going on with Dean/Sam/Gadreel/Cas and Dean tricking Sam), was... jarring I guess?  

I never quite felt the same about meta again tbh.  And I’m actually grateful.  It made me refocus to a more emotional lens on the show but despite everything I still couldn’t “take off” the meta glasses completely, you know?  I hadn’t been truly enjoying Supernatural for a while by then (as you know).  Bob helped me get back to a place where I could enjoy it.  So now I’m not here to talk about pop culture references (I mean... I do, but only in the tags and offhandedly), I’m here to talk about TEXT, specifically dialogue and how it runs through each episode connnecting actions and more dialogue.  There’s more intent to be found there, obviously, and I still care deeply about where Dean/Cas is going but not caring so much that James’s dead wife in 13x03 was a mirror for how Dean sees Cas against Missouri/Sam’s influence of Jack/Patience.  

I know you’re not keep up but Dean is worried that Jack (Lucifer’s nephilim) is gonna get Sam dead just like he got Cas dead.  But the 13x03 focus wasn’t on that (Dean losing Sam), it was on Cas’ death and things that couldn’t be moved past without WANT/WORDS (Jack had to *want* to get the candy out of the vending machine in 13x01 and he had to WANT to move the pencil in 13x03 and he had to WANT Dean to like him enough to see that contacting Cas and getting him back is the only way to do that).  13x03′s structure revolved around “can’t” versus “want”, specifically Dean’s and Jack’s things that are making them “stuck in place”, which intersected only at the end, with Jack calling out to Cas because of how Dean felt.  

Anyway.  I’m grateful I got to talk to Bob, so grateful.  He changed the way I viewed the show but it’s a change I’m happy with and I feel offers me greater focus.  <3
