Many of you know that I’ve been on a posting hiatus for the past two months to get ready for a vacation/family reunion coming up. Heres what you may not know...
Dave’s (hubby) uncle paid for plane tickets for the family and offered his hotel so his Grandpa could have a surprise 90th birthday party
Hubs is turning 40 in October
our 10-year wedding anniversary is in November
we haven’t been on a vacation in over 10 years
we never went on a honeymoon (they pricey)
Toddles has never been on a airplane, seen a body of water larger than a mountain lake, been on a trip, etc.
we were all “holy crap this a god send” because not only do we get a birthday/anniversary/family vacation for cheap, but we could see Dave’s grandpa for what is probably the last time before he goes
we were also going to visit my 70+ uncle who I’m close to for what is also probably the last time as he’s been battling cancer
here’s the catch
Yes, that’s Florida.
A: This is where my uncle (and my family) lives B: We are scheduled to fly into Tampa airport next Thursday C: I added this because it’s where my friend and her family live D: This is where Dave’s family and the hotel is
For those that don’t get it, here’s the current path of Hurricane Irma:

The thing is that none of these people are going to shelters. Dave’s uncle moved his grandpa inland to a friend’s house that was “hurricane proof”, and my uncle and aunt moved to my cousin’s house (they both live in trailers). All I know about my cousin’s place is that it’s a house and that he tied his boat down in the front yard. I’m not a Floridian, but doesn’t that make it a possible projectile?
That hotel is on a barrier island between the Gulf and a bay. Even if we fly down and are lucky enough to still have a rental car next to Tampa Bay, there’s no guarantee that there will be gas to put in it or a hotel to go to.
I’ve barely slept in 2 days and I’ve made myself sick with stress. If the worst happens, I’m not sure we’ll be able to fly in and help out our families and that’s killing me.
The reason for this post is to let you guys know that I’m not sure when I’ll resume my Miraculous Ladybug posts. Once this thing passes, I’ll have a better idea of where my time is going.
Edit:
Toddles doesn’t understand what’s going on, but she knows it’s Florida on the TV. She caught me crying this morning. I let her know we might not be able to go to Florida. She patted me on the back and said “Don’t worry, Mommy. We can go to New Florida.”
