At the start of the show, Ricochet sat stubbornly, crossing his arms. His eye remained narrowed even amidst the excited crowd.

"Cheer up, Rico," Brock said, leaning over to him, speaking loudly to be heard over the crowd. "C'mon, give the guy a chance. You can't judge him on how he looks alone."

"I can and I will." Rico said.

8-Bit grinned mischievously. Due to his height, he was standing on the seat next to Rico to watch the show. "Scared you might be replaced by the next model?" He asked.

Instead of answering, Rico reached behind  8-Bit, grabbed the top portion of his head, and pushed him forward so he was precariously on the edge of the chair.

"Stooop!" The arcade machine complained, trying to upright himself to no avail. Rico laughed.

Brock double-took and reprimanded them. "Hey! Behave yourselves. You're going to start something."

"Is everyone here ready to start!?" The announcer, Max, asked into the microphone. "Let me hear you cheer!"

Rico pushed 8-Bit back to normal in his chair as the crowd gave a resounding cheer.

"Glad to hear it!" Max grinned. "Before we get to the guts and glory of this event, I'd like to welcome back our opening act- Spectacular Stu!"

There he was, the top of the ramp. The spotlight made sure you wouldn't miss him. Rico rolled his eye as cheers resparked.

"If you were here last time, you'll know he took a nasty dive and got wrecked. But he's back and rollin' as smooth as ever!" Max assured them. "So without further ado, our very own Crash Robot!"

The Stuntdevil waved, pumping the crowd up even further. He spun in place, and geared up to rocket down the ramp.

He left tire marks on the top with a screech, and his engines revved. He had to pick up enough speed to make the jump through a lit ring, and over on the other ramp to make a loop.

Stu soared through the air and twisted through the fired-up hoop.

Even Rico had to admit that his aim was impressive. 8-Bit leaned in with awe as Stu stuck the landing on the second wooden ramp.

Oh, but wait-! Red flames trailed behind him, right on his cape, and traveled higher.

Stu looked back upon hearing the starting jeers of the audience. It was a good indicator of when something went wrong. "U-uh-oh..." he muttered to himself. He started to reach at the burning fabric to try and remove it, but he began to veer.

Stu began to panic. Was it more important to remove the flames and complete the loop, or get it off before it reached his main body-?

He didn't have time to decide. Stu made it up halfway through the first half, but was too far off-center and he flew right off the track.

He flailed, feeling the flames crawl up even further even as he began to fall.

He faceplanted, skidding and rolling a good amount of distance. At least the fire was put out.

"Ha, wow! That must be a world record of eating dirt!" He picked out from the crowd.

Cheers...for him..

His blue lens flickered and gave out.

"Yes! There we go!" His vision flickered on and he saw Max over him. "Up and at 'em, Stu! There's someone who wants to greet you outside. He insisted, and I gotta go now. Careful, because you aren't really fixed yet. I'm up next with Surge, catch ya' later!" she caught him up, and waved bye as she practically flew out the door.

Stu sat up slowly, still feeling his processors warm up. Max and Surge's show was the third act. Ugh...

Wait. Someone wanted to see him? A fan?

He hopped up from where he lay. He glanced at the mirror on the way, stopped in his tracks. No, no, not presentable at all! His clothes were burnt.

The bot rolled back to the mirror and changed into a different suit as swiftly as he could.

White suit, red cape. He looked dashing.

Stu rolled to the door, and paused briefly. Great first impression. He flung the door open.

"H-h-how's it go-o-going, champ?" He asked gleefully, before seeing that it was.. another robot. Oh. Not what he was expecting. And one that looked similar to himself too. Wait, wasn't he... Rico?

"Are you okay?" He asked.

Stu looked at him blankly. That was it? Just a question? He looked around. Well, a fan's a fan. "L-l-looking for an autograph? Advice?" Stu laughed, and spun once. "No free pho-o-oo-photographs." He said.

Rico looked at the bot in concern. "You're sad..." he pointed out.

Stu jolted back. "Wh-at?"

"Blue Visor." Was the blunt response.

"Hahahaha. B-b-buddy. This," Stu pointed at himself. "Is blue tin-ti-tinted. Ever her-heard of fshh-fashion before?"

Rico was in disbelief. "Then explain the broken regulator for your voice box?"

Stu's eye narrowed at the word broken. "R-ru-de. I cou-ouUol-cou-ou..." Stu stopped himself, feeling...just horrible. He could handle the jibes included in a cheering crowd. But being picked on like this was just plain cruel. "N-n-ot ev-everyone can b-be as lul-lucky as you, can th-they?"

Rico blinked. "What do you mean?"

Stu rolled his eye. "Ric-Co. The ro-r-robot just adored by every-everybody. All you-ou had to do was wal-wa-walk up here a-nd the ress-st is histo-ory."

Rico shook his head. "Even if that were important to this situation, I worked hard to make friends... But that isn't important right now. We're discussing you." He reminded. "You can make them stop putting up so much hazards. Or walk out. They can't force you to stay."

"I cho-oo-ose to, Dummy." Stu griped.

Color him shocked. "Why?"

"They love me." Stu said. "Now sc-scram before I ca-call se-see-security on you."

The bot couldn't wrap his head around that. Love? Did he not hear the rude comments? The laughs and jabs? Being used? He couldn't even begin to imagine Brock and 8-Bit treating him like that and seeing it as praise.

You can't help those who don't want to be... but Rico didn't want to leave without any indication of getting through to him at least somewhat.

He stepped forward with his arms outstretched and pulled him in for a hug.

Stu froze, surprised. He couldn't process anything right now. He just stood there, being hugged for the first time.

After seconds of silence, Rico pulled away. "I'll leave now. We should keep in touch. If you want." He suggested.

"....I-if I c-can find t-ti-time for you, buddy." Stu shrugged. "I'm a v-very busy bot." He rolled backwards to enter his room, and shut the door.

Rico sighed. He's tried his best. If Stu truly wanted help, he would have to take the next step.

On the other side, Stu didn't know how to feel. He wheeled slowly across the room, and caught a glimpse of the mirror. He rolled over and looked at himself. He was happy with his role. Happy.

...Just the same, he could grace that fanbot with an appearance every so often. Make his day. That... sounded nice.

UPRISING.   ↳     if ymir had truly stayed in paradis,  i definitely feel like this would’ve been the start of her biggest developmental arc.   her death ended in the bittersweet story of a girl who was never able to find a balance in her vices & virtues,  letting herself succumb to a part of her she tried so hard to suppress.   with historia kidnapped, and the chance of going through even more with her cadet class,  i think she could’ve gotten something of a medium in widening the tunnel vision she had grown accustomed to.

as a now-revealed titan, she was definitely held under suspicion for a while.   she was thrust into squad levi to be trained alongside eren, but the guy did not trust her nearly as much as he did eren.   it took a while for her to be brought back into things and the only people who really stood by her side at first were eren & historia.

#1 “historia” corrector when people would still call her krista.

made it a point to coo tf outta her real name whenever she could.

her biggest clash with capt. levi was when he pushed historia to become queen.   while, sure, she respects* levi enough now, she still resents him & believes historia wouldn’t have said yes otherwise ( i.e. doesn’t want the role / she’s playing the path given to her )

* ymir shows her respect by being slightly nicer and all this really means is she’ll tease you and be crass instead of snarling & ignoring your mere existence.

scares & annoys all the children in historia’s orphanage 24/7.   if someone shouts  “ill tell YMIR!”, you can bet everyone gasps and falls silent, a quiet, “... you wouldn’t”  hitting them from the back.

RETURN TO SHIGANSHINA.  ↳     ymir would’ve obviously been required to join in the fight here, and was likely perched on eren’s titan the whole time & ready to be thrown wherever depending on where RB show up to spread their power.

primary eren-ymir tactic is literally just eren softballing her into the ring like YEET

biggest takeaway here is just to remember WHY she chose to go with reiner & berty in the first place :  she felt like she was indebted to them.   in this verse, that’s going to taunt at her constantly.  if it ever came down to it, and she had to face reiner 1v1, there’s a 99.9% chance she couldn’t do it.   when eren was fighting him, she would likely be given the opportunity to drop down and end / grab reiner once and for all when eren has him in a lock for their first fight, but her hesitation gives bertl enough time to get to him instead.

i’d imagine she’d get called out somewhere around here,  and get a moment where the cadets kind of remind her they’re well, her friends ?   like they make it a point to show she matters and she’s more than just “that girl who’s around historia all the time” & a bunch of really gay shit that would make her cry & feel worth something and probably have some sappy inner monologue of “i thought i knew what my new purpose in this life was, but i guess in the end, none of that really matters anyways”  because she really starts to see that the world isn’t as simple as she was used to from her youth, and shit expands / changes and you just gotta go with the flow and let yourself enjoy the now.

she didn’t say shit for the serum bowl.   while she, personally, agreed erwin should take it, she could tell levi was hiding something, and high key, she trusts his decisions over anyone else’s, even hanji’s.

PRE-MARLEY.  ↳      direct EMA parallel where ymir grows closer to people other than historia tbqh & now her relations are just overall deeper. that's not to say she's not still a huge fucking Sap though she def sends her Ugly Ass letters daily no matter where she is & that includes straight up in mitras where she just leaves them outside historia's room before leaving for training so she can wake up to her thanks.

she wasn’t in the meeting for historia’s whole baby-carrier thing.   she could tell something was off the second historia got back out from it,  but historia wouldn’t tell her, insisting she needed to be somewhere & ymir couldn’t come along, and neither would eren or mikasa because they were just ?? too shook / disgusted to speak of it yet, let alone to Ymir of all people, knowing it’ll rile the hell out of her.   they all just exited to their respective rooms without even making eye contact.   she had to corner hange and squeeze it out of them, instead.

after learning what the fuck was up she immediately tried to beat up all 3 of kiyomi’s guards, had to be held back by the random new SC members who stayed behind & weren’t really sure what was happening because all ymir was saying was along the lines of  ‘ill fucking kill you’  and  ‘you disgusting bitch’  with no other real context.

held historia a lot and told her they could fight against this, but was told time & time again that this was fine / hisu didn’t mind ( cue ymir’s rendition of why the fuck you Lyin )

We’ve come to the end of 2017, my precious flowers (or should I said diamonds? 👀) Anyway. I’ll be honest with you and say that 2017 was one hell of a year for me. I’ve been through a lot. I’ve lost important people to me but found a lot of other people who were kinder; I’ve had relationships crumble and watched them come together again; I’ve fallen and gotten back up again multiple times and through everything, I eventually came out stronger. I really couldn’t have done it without the support that I got from a lot of you. Thoughts from a returning SnK fan

Like most fans during the peak of SnK’s popularity (2013-2014), I was pretty much going through a huge SnK craze. I remember following a bunch of SnK-related blogs, looking at fanart, checking and staying in the tags almost every hour, reading a lot of meta material, playing OSTs on repeat, the whole shebang. And like most fans, my interest dramatically fell by the wayside when the wait for S2 pretty much grew into eternity. Even when I got around to reading the manga (starting from where S1 left off), life became super chaotic and busy. But now I’m back! (And hopefully for good?) I’m actually pleasantly surprised that the fandom on here is still going strong. Obviously not to the same hype everyone was living up to back in 2013. To those who’ve been committed to the manga and fandom after all these years, major kudos and I’m sure your tired eyes have seen a lot. So although I had let go of this series, I’ve been playing catch up these last couple of months simply because SnK holds a special place in my heart. With everything I’ve gathered up up to this point, here are the immediate and nonsensical thoughts coming from a returning fan, fresh and untainted by years of shipping wars, fanon vs. canon wars, misconstrued meta discussions, and other fun stuff that comes with being in a fandom:
