At this point, I think Zhongli could turn to the proverbial camera, look straight at the viewer and go "I consider Xiao a friend. He is my friend. F-R-I-E-N-D" and the Genshin fandom would still be like "omg i love this canon father-son bonding moment <3 He's such a dad"

bc how is it that in the 4.4 Lantern Rite Zhongli called Xiao his friend twice and explicitly attributed all parental knowledge he was imparting on Gaming's dad to Xianyun/Cloud Retainer (who the game was NOT subtle about having a mother-daughter relationship with her disciples during her SQ and with Zhongli outright saying she has "several fully-grown daughters") and people are still pretending seeing them as "father and son" is anything but their personal headcanon.
