DeerHead EMC-V2
My 3D printer is probably done for good (or for a very long time) after I've looked into it's situation further and tried a few more things to get it functional again, but I wanted to keep working on this robot so bad that I'd gotten corrugated plastic, and paperboard to try and do a cleaner recreation of it's original form, in something that won't collapse beneath itself; I think it's working awesome so far, currently any problems I'm experiencing are now due to my own design flaws, one pesky servo (One for the in-and-out movement of the back right leg that seems over-greased, even after I'd tried to clean alot of it off which was maybe a dumb idea but it was worth a shot; it can move, but moves very slow and often if I try to make it move too far from it's last position, too fast instead of easing into it slowly, the power surges), and my servo controller being quite noisy, leading to it having jitters that sometimes get so bad they make the Arduino reset; if there's no way to get to the bottom of that without replacing the controller, I feel like I probably will eventually just because it seems like this one (PCA9685) isn't really supported at all anyways compared to other controllers out there and I've already thought of replacing it earlier on in the project but wanted to power through! I think it's good enough to work on for the time being though :] though at the same time, the animations I'm doing are being based in Tim's Servo Program, which is written in binary specifically for this controller; meaning if I got a new one, it better be early on and not after I've done most of, if not all of the core animations! (Sitting, standing, walking and turning, walking at different speeds, anger, sadness, excitement, fear, kicking ball and other ball-related interactions, things along those lines; just baseline animations!)
Tumblr media
I only have one picture for now, taken with my ultra-HD 4K 10 million billion trillion megapixel laptop camera XD I took another one, but the stupid camera app seemed to eat it, since it wasn't in the gallery. He's way more chihuahua-like in head shape now too, featuring big floppy ravioli ears like little puppy chihuahuas have in particular ^_^ which wasn't entirely intentional, but because they turned out that way I think it's super cute so I'm happy with it anyways! I tried to make a walking animation for him, which I filmed, but the video has my face in it; I may censor my face and upload it to YouTube sometime, alongside the video there is of EMC-V1 walking; which surprisingly, turned out better than when I made this iteration walk which I'm a little worried about ,':1c I actually think that's soley because I didn't remember to make the dog enter a slightly-crouching stance to take it's steps, like an Aibo does, which was written right on my sketchbook but I was too tired to have skimmed past it because by the time I was finished actually building the new body, it was very late O_o'
Tumblr media
Epic laptop camera moment!!! Surely you can comprehend the writing through those like, five pixels? Looks like it was taken on a 3DS, the bloody thing! ToT Anywho, that's the scoop on DeerHead for tonight!! I'm hoping I'll get him to successfully move around without help soon, but if not, I feel like I should get a servo controller that's more specifically meant for projects like this and have software to work with, or compatible Blender add-ons (Robotics and Blender working as one?! I'd nearly want to jump for joy if I got to use that kind of workflow!!) anyways; then I wouldn't have to deal with those rather nasty jitters too, and only having the servos rapidly jerk through the basic frames of animation because I don't currently know if there's a way I can make smoothing happen on Arduino, and I'd otherwise have to boot up the raspberry Pi and stick the animation into there, and be at the mercy of it working.. Actually, the more I think about this process, the more I want to get a new servo controller XD I'm going to look into that a little bit!

Phun with Photos…and Phungus…and Phelines!
The kids and I have been messing around a lot with photos using the app Procreate, which I often use to design things to make on my Cricut. I started a video course on how to use all of Procreate’s tools and features on Udemy a few years ago - I never did finish the course, and I should prob go back and watch the portions I completed just for review - but even using the app near daily for a few years now has made me comfortable enough to tinker around and try to figure things out.
So the other day, we woke up in the morning and discovered this BEAUTIFUL, almost perfect mushroom growing in the landscaping right outside our garage:
Tumblr media
Don’t ask me why, but I was completely enraptured with this thing. Maybe it’s bc it sprung up overnight almost like magic, or bc of its perfect shape, or bc of the way the pretty morning sunlight hit it - but I dropped down in the ground and shot about a dozen pictures of the thing. I had this vision of having a little fun with it, and making some creative photo edits that would give the kids a laugh. And so I did!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I then honored a request from Vev to do a Pixel-centered edit:
Tumblr media
Hehe….some good, clean, nearly-free fun!
Not nearly as free (in fact, it’s sort of expensive)…. but the kids finished school last week! (Oops, that deserves a photo of its own) and started a five-day summer camp at a place called iCode in our neighborhood - it’s a center that teaches kids all about different aspects of coding, computer programming, and the use of various softwares for web development, digital design, video and audio creation/production, and other techy topics like robotics, drone aviation, game development, etc. I signed both Vev and Dey up for a five-day camp focused on 2D and 3D digital design. They seem to love drawing and painting, and also futzing around with digital photos - so I thought they might enjoy it. Day 1 got off to a good start! Here are some pics, as well as photos from iCode’s social media:

What are u playing picross on
Tumblr media
Behold, the only games on my phone lol. They’re the ones made by AppyNation on the App Store. The one on the left is just black and white, but I’ve been playing it for years it’s my fave :D It maxes out at 15x15 grids, which I find is best for my tiny phone screen. And it comes out with new sets of puzzles pretty frequently, every few months or so, plus I love the pixel art. It does have a daily login reward type of system to unlock new grid puzzles, which might be annoying, but it doesn’t really bother me and encourages me to replay old puzzles.
Oh my god why are the paragraph breaks on mobile so big. Anyway, the other one on the right is by the same ppl, and it’s essentially the same deal but this time it uses multiple colours in the puzzles instead of just black and white. Personally, I prefer the other one, but it depends on the person. This one goes up to 20x20 grid size, but it also has a whole bunch of different content too. Same deal with the daily logins. Oh, and both have unskippable video ads every couple of puzzles, which is :// but I get that they’ve gotta support themselves somehow. Either way, they’re really good for free apps which regularly update with new content!
Also you didn’t ask abt Sudoku but I use good ol fashioned sudoku.net. Ol reliable. Has both regular sudoku AND killer sudoku. Better on desktop than on mobile. I refuse to download their app.
Oh!! I nearly forgot to mention, there was this picross game on DS which I played obsessively and which got me hooked on picross in the first place, but I can’t remember it’s name now argh. But yeah ily DS Picross. The platonic ideal of picross playing hardware.

You couldn’t help but find yourself thinking about Rafe the moment you woke up, surprised that you managed to get a few hour's worth of sleep. Your mind still stuck on what he was doing, moreover, who he was doing it with at that particular moment.
Rafe always found himself sending you a message in the morning, even after the two of you broke up and considered yourselves to be on bad terms, he never forgot to send you a good morning message. Maybe he woke up a little late, you thought, but after hours went by and the clock struck four in the afternoon, you knew he was engaged in something else. This. This was what you wanted yourself to stay away from. You can’t be, you shouldn’t be attached to him when he isn’t even yours.
In his defense, he had forgotten. It had completely slipped his mind to message you when he woke up. He doesn’t really think of you, his ex-girlfriend when there is another girl beside him. It was difficult for you to not call him, to steer away from him and thinking about him. After all, he’s not yours.
A few hours rolled by quite quickly, you were still taking inventory in the comfort of your messy, unmade bed with your laptop binging shows that you’ve watched more times than you can count on your fingers. It was now a few minutes past 10 at night, you had eaten a well-serving dinner that made you want to throw your brains up due to the amount of food you had consumed, but it only took one text to change your mind.
rafe wanna come by our place? i’ve got some burger and fries
Rafe was already at the place, he knew that you weren’t going to deny his offer, especially with the food coming as a bonus. And when he saw you walking towards him wearing black shorts along with his t-shirt, he couldn’t be happier. It wasn’t on purpose, you wore his clothes out of habit since a number of them were present in your closet and looked the most comfortable. “Look at you, wearing my clothes,” he gushed, his cheeks were heating up at the sight of you, and fortunately for him, you couldn’t spot that. Your lips pursed upwards as you took inventory beside him, he wasted no time by wrapping his arms around your shoulders and pulling you closer, pressing a kiss near your ear affectionately.
“Where were you yesterday night?” you asked out of pure curiosity as you chewed on the fries brought by Rafe. He felt as though his throat was stuck, absolutely nothing was coming out of his mouth. He didn’t know how to answer you without sounding like the biggest asshole. “I, um, I was just hanging around,” you knew it by the way he spoke that he wasn’t just hanging around.
Trying not to let a frown overcome your face, your lips molded into a fake smile and looked up at him enthusiastically. He knew that you knew. It’s not difficult to see through a person who you have dated for over a year, and loved for way too many.
Deciphering your emotions instantly, he felt the need to hold you closer than ever in order to make you feel protected. “I love you, you know that, right?” it killed you every time he said that. It made you feel there was more to it, but there wasn’t. He’d be with another girl in a matter of days, if not hours if he got the chance. “I love you more,” you mumbled as you nuzzled your head into his neck, the warmth making your mind fuzzy as you felt all your problems fade away.
It was laughable. It was laughable to you how all your worries disappeared with him around, but he was the biggest problem you were facing.
Rafe was wearing a hoodie that was a size larger than him; it wasn’t his usual attire, but it was your favourite. His hair wasn’t swept to the side elegantly, instead it was bedraggled and it looked nothing like the usual Rafe Cameron. He didn’t look like the person who always had his guard up, the hard, least-vulnerable boy in the Outer Banks. He was in his most natural state, one which he felt most comfortable in, and it was only with you.
He played with the ends of your hair as he stared up at the night sky. The clock was nearing 11:15 and you had no plans of leaving. Rafe’s mind was clouded with thoughts, ones he didn’t wish to entertain. He knew all too well what he did last night with another girl, but he couldn’t help but wonder if you’ve ever connected with another guy in that way after the two of you broke up.
The thought of that made him want to burst in tears. It was selfish, he knows, but he couldn’t help it. His possessive instincts couldn’t show themselves now like they did previously. Before he could muster up any words, you saw something fall from the pocket of his hood, landing on your leg. It was a plastic packet filled with white substance, of course. “Rafe,” you began, your eyes motioning down to his belonging that he believed to be his support system aside from you. “Fuck, sorry,” he mumbled hurriedly, his voice was laced with anger for some reason, and you didn’t know why. He picked it up and without second thought, stood up, nearly making you fall due to the sudden emptiness beside you.
“I’ve got to go,” this time, he didn’t even say goodbye properly, didn’t kiss you nor hug you. He just left. For him, it was the only way he could handle this situation, no, the thoughts going on in his head. He had to run away from them. That’s what he did best.
You just sat there, the cold breeze causing you to shiver as your eyes became glassy. These little rendezvous’ weren’t working, especially not in your favour.
Hours flew by quickly; it was now 4 am. Your lips hovered over the ‘send’ button on your phone, trying to gain the courage to send Rafe a message. what was that all about? was the text you wanted to send. You went through a small crisis thinking about whether or not you should add a ‘lol’ or a laughing emoji at the end of the message, but you decided against it. You hit send.
Rafe was doing what he does best; fleeing his problems, leaving them in the dust till they need to be dealt with. He was at Topper’s house, once again, but a girl whose name he didn’t even know was beside him, making lines for him. “So, what’s got you all worked up?” she inquired, her voice was calm but Rafe found it to be the most irksome voice he could hear at the moment. He was not going to talk to her about his life problems. Cutting off him before he could answer, she glanced at his phone which was placed on the table, the lightening up of the screen causing her attention. “Ooo, who’s y/n?” she teasingly spoke causing Rafe’s eyes to go wide.
“Why’s y/n texting you at 4 in the fucking morning, dude? Begging to get back together with you or something?” Topper interjected after hearing the girl speak about you texting him. Rafe didn’t know what to do at that moment instead of lying, so he did. “Yeah, she’s being fucking annoying,” he laughed through his teeth, the lies pouring out of his mouth with no hesitance. The girl to his side let out a laugh, placing a hand on Rafe’s knee. “I’ll text back for you,”
When you heard the notification sound for the messages app, following with the name of Rafe showing up, you felt yourself grin ear to ear. The effect he had on you was crazy, you hated it. But when you saw the profanity he had thrown your way, insinuating you to leave him alone, you surprisingly didn’t felt yourself become upset. You were numb, at this point.
It was little things that made you become more and more weary of Rafe; the aura of perfume he’d never make use of radiating him when he came to your house with his hair disheveled and his eyes bloodshot. The hints that he mistakingly dropped about his meaningless one-night-stands which you always caught on to, but he never realised. The way Topper’s animosity went to an all time high when he saw you and when he poked fun about how much Rafe loathed you after your breakup. You knew there was a lot going on behind the scenes, and they were things you had zero control over.
Rafe, instantly after leaving the late-night scene at Topper’s house, messaged you a plethora of sorries, telling you it wasn’t him who sent the text. He was honestly surprised that you hadn’t blocked him. Once you asked him who sent it, he didn’t want to lie, he couldn’t. He told you it was another girl he had met, and it was a mistake on his end to not give you any context. He allowed you to assume that he was just with another girl, which could only really mean one thing.
you: you left to hang out with her, right?
Maybe it was the way you wrote it. Maybe it was the way you used a comma before her, signifying perfect punctuation, something you never did on text. Maybe it was how he could visualize you saying that in real life, and his heart absolutely shattered to pieces. Rafe could play the victim card, he could say that he’s free to do so since you’re not dating, but he didn’t. He could notice how you always bit your tongue from saying something about his ongoings with other girls, and the one time you didn’t stop yourself from saying it, he knew that you were hurt.
You couldn’t do it anymore. The times you had with him were ones you’d never trade for anything. But the way having these rendezvous’ instead of getting back with each other was bothering you. It was never going to be easy, you knew that. But it had become way too difficult to the point where it isn’t manageable anymore.
It wasn’t manageable because he hurt you, he did things that hurt you, and you couldn’t complain about it nor could you speak your mind on it because he wasn’t yours. It wasn’t manageable because you still wanted him more than ever. You can’t let go.

Gone For Too Long
Tumblr media
todoroki shouto x reader
warnings: fluff
word count: 2,595
a/n: okay so this hits home because my boyfriend and i are in long distance :) so this is basically 50% of the struggle of having a boyfriend who you can’t love as constantly as you can. also anon, loved this so much!!!!!!! AND I LOVE YOU MUAH HAVE A GOOD NIGHT
Tumblr media
“Pick up, already.”
You lay in bed, your laptop in front of you, the all too familiar ringing of FaceTime echoed through your apartment as you waited for your boyfriend to pick up. A tired grin comes upon your face as the screen turns black, and then the pixelated form of your boyfriend appears on the screen.
“Sorry, my computer glitched out for a bit,” Shouto’s voice flows from your computer speaker, the scratchy tone from it being online blending into his tone. “You’re calling late.”
“Oh yeah, sorry!” You laugh shifting your position while bringing a pillow to your lap, something you did often while calling Shouto, it helped make it feel like he was there with you. “We had a major breakthrough with the lab, it was so phenomenal, I think we’ll be done by this summer’s end.”
Shouto grinned, the pixels glitching just the tiniest amount as it tried to keep up with real-time, “That’s great! Two years later, and you’re almost finished!”
You groan at the thought of it being two years, that hurt a lot more than you realized.
It had been two years since you had left your home in Japan.
“Yeah…” You agree, your voice trailing off as you stared at the keyboard instead of your boyfriend. “When will you not be busy? I miss you.”
Shouto frowns, or at least you think he frowns, the lagging of the screen makes it hard to tell what emotion is occurring on his face at the time as he wasn’t the most expressive. “It’s just been a bit busy right now; when I have an opening I’ll make sure to come down,” Shouto explains, as per tradition.
It had been two years since you came down to London, England for a special experiment that you had been allowed to be the head researcher for. So you hadn’t had the time to go home to visit as you had to be there at the lab, except for the one time you went home last year.
It was a two-day trip back to Japan so that you could surprise Shouto as part of your third-year anniversary, but as you did this under wraps, Shouto had the same plan under wraps.
You remember getting back to Japan and arriving home to find the house empty. Thinking it was just Shouto being busy that day, the second you picked up your phone from a call from your boyfriend, you wanted to cry hearing that he was currently outside your apartment wondering where you were.
Shouto had tried to desperately get a flight back home, as you couldn’t afford to get your ticket moved, but like every month anniversary, the two of you spent your third-year anniversary via FaceTime. Only that you were in Japan and he was in England. And to make matters worse, he was back inside the airport two minutes after final boarding ended.
“I miss you, more,” Shouto sighs, and the two of you just watch each other through the screen. “You’re getting a bit of an accent.”
You can’t help the laugh that escapes your lips, as you quickly wipe a tear away from your cheeks and the two of you are thrown into a conversation concerning whether or not your Japanese was truly becoming muddled with an accent. There the two of you sat, chatting away, longing to be beside each other, but continued speaking so that the distance between you two just seemed a bit more temporary.
You were tired though, it was nearing two in the morning, and you had to be awake in a few hours to go back to researching. You rubbed your eyes as you listened a bit irritated as Shouto was explaining to you why Izuku, Katsuki, and himself were nearly arrested for starting a brawl over an arcade game.
“I can’t hear you.” You say again, your eyes burning from exhaustion as your hand goes to wave, a signal you guys did when the other was lagging due to poor connection. “Babe, wait…”
“I can’t—“ Shouto’s voice breaks through the laptop's speakers, and you sigh. “I—need to—can you??”
You rub your face with a free hand, the other continuing to wave until you can see Shouto waving back, the picture and audio now caught up. “I need to sleep.” You say, trying to suppress the irritation that is threatening to crawl into the tone of your voice.
“Oh, okay.” Shouto stills, his face emulating his sympathy towards your situation, the breaking up video was always something that irritated the both of you. “I’ll text you the story later, then?”
“Please do, I can’t believe you idiots haven’t gotten arrested, honestly.” You laugh dryly, trying your best not to sound irritated because you knew it wasn’t either of your fault the connection sucked. You watch as he nods his head, and you sigh for what feels like the millionth time.
“Goodnight and good morning, Shoucchan. Good luck with work, don’t stress yourself out, and know that I love you with all my heart.” You whisper to him, a truly tired yet loving smile on your face for your boyfriend.
“Sweet dreams, y/n. Make sure you set your alarms and good luck with your labs. I love you with all my heart and so much more.” Shouto whispers back.
You blow a kiss, and can’t help the laughter that escapes your lips as Shouto blows one back and produces two hearts with his fingers. “Kick some ass for me.” He says.
You roll your eyes but continue smiling as your finger traces up the touchpad and ends the call. You got up and turned off your lights, and returned to snuggle back into your sheets, hoping that your bed wouldn’t feel so empty without Shouto, even two years later.
A text message made your phone screen light up, and you smiled as you read the message.
shouto toa(d)orki - sorry video chat was crap, go to bed, i love you so so much
Knowing that if you replied the two of you would text for hours more, so instead you deleted the notification and came to stare at your lock screen.
It was a picture of the two of you during a wedding for your best friend back home. She was getting married, and naturally, you were one of the two maids of honors, and when the wedding party went to take pictures, they allowed pictures to be taken with significant others. Because love is love is love.
So you stood there in your pretty maid of honor dress, your makeup done and hair did, and there was a glowing smile coming from your face as you were in mid-laugh. But it was Shouto that made this one of your favorite photos of you. It wasn’t a professional picture, but instead, one caught by a bridesmaid. You were laughing because of a dry comment Shouto made that you had found hilarious, and instead of looking over to where the camera was, he was looking at you. The most lovingly affectionate smile on his face as he stared at your face. The two of you had already been entangled together as part of the pose, but he seemed so gentle that even now it never failed to make you cry.
Unlocking your phone, you stared at the home screen, which was by far your favorite photo of Shouto that you had managed to take when he was off guard. The memory was years ago, but you could remember it like it was yesterday.
“Shouto, I have the most serious question in the world for you,” You intensely state, sitting on your knees as you turned your attention to your boyfriend who was mid-slurp of his soba noodles. His quirked eyebrow letting you know he was listening, and with a splitting grin, you asked away, “Are you an ass man, or a boobs man?”
There is no expression on Shouto’s face for a second. Two seconds.
On the third second, a light blush comes across his face as he returns his attention onto his food. But you can hear the slight choking sound escaping his lips and you cackle just the smallest amount as you wait for him to finish his noodle. You drag his chair out from the table, ignoring the small and weak protests leaving his lips. Taking your phone and opening the camera app, ready for the perfect moment, you sat on his lap straddling his body to the chair, and you laughed.
Shouto’s eyes were looking past you, ignoring you as you adjust your position on his lap. With the arm that held your phone, you placed it on his shoulder, letting your hand hang, and with your free arm, you grabbed his hand that was stiff against your thighs. “Ass?” You ask as you guide his hand to your butt, and you remove it after a moment of lingering, “Or boobs?” And you gently press his hands against your breast. An ever so teasingly smile on your face as the blush on Shouto’s cheeks darken.
“I–um, well, I–” Shouto stutters uncharacteristically as you let out a laugh crushing him into a hug, “What are you–?” He stops mid-sentence at the sight of you bringing your phone out and snapping a picture.
So forever on pixels was the embarrassed looking Shouto who was staring at your breast as your cheeks were pressed onto his as you smiled brightly for your camera. Simple and sweet.
Approving the picture, you pressed a lingering kiss onto Shouto’s lips to which he responds to immediately. “Thank you!” You whisper against his lips, as you scoot off his lap.
Only that it didn’t go as planned as Shouto grabs you by your ass and immediately has you back onto his lap, “You can’t expect to leave me just like that?” He says, a fire burning in his eyes, and now it's your turn to blush as his lips come to meet yours with unwavering passion.
“And you still didn’t answer my question!” You whine quietly as his lips momentarily pause.
“I’m a man who appreciates all parts of my lover.”
“Mhmm.”
The rest of this conversation is further explored by the actions of that night.
You sigh as you turn off your phone and turn around, and with thoughts of Shouto on your mind you pass out.
⋆✭⋆✭⋆⋆✭⋆✭⋆
It’s a few days later when you find yourself home, a single day off after working for eleven months straight. You’re on the phone texting with Shouto, or at least texting Shouto.
He wasn’t responding to you, and he hadn’t been for around eleven hours or so. Yes, there was a time difference, but not enough where you couldn’t text during the day. You had texted him what you had been doing all day, updating him with every lazy detail of your day, and sending him every PigeonGame you could. No response.
Not even your friends could tell you where Shouto was, and typically he was with at least one of them.
You stare at your phone some more, wishing for something from your boyfriend, and when a FaceTime call comes through, you immediately pick up.
“HELLO!” You scream into the phone as it shows Shouto’s face on the screen.
He smiles down at the camera, god even at a downwards angle your boyfriend still managed to look good. “Hi, sorry, I wasn’t able to use my phone for the entire day. Something with the phone company.” Shouto explained, an awkward smile on his face, and you knew he was lying.
“M’kay,” You suspiciously squint your eyes, but let the lie slide, it wasn’t something you wanted to get on him about. Besides, you guessed that it could add up considering he was one to fall asleep before midnight, and it was currently three in Japan. “Where are you?” You ask noticing the grey interior of the car he was in, his interior was not grey.
“I’m in a taxi.” Shouto says with a small shrug, “I can’t use my car, so I’m using the taxi.”
“Not using the train still?” You ask a bit confused about the entire reason why he had started using a car all those years ago when you had a perfectly good public transport system at home.
Shouto laughs a bit, his eyes looking up at where the driver was probably at. “Uh, I just was running late, and a taxi was going to be faster than waiting fifteen minutes for the next train.”
“Okay,” You hum as you roll over on your bed and you swear you hear English, but ignore it as you pull the phone closer to your face as you watch Shouto exit the car, handing money over to the cab driver. “What are you grabbing?” You ask as you hear a click from the trunk. “Are you having a sleepover at Bakugou’s? Mina said that's what she thought was happening.”
“What? No.” Shouto gave you a weird look.
“Why are you getting to work so late anyway, isn’t it three? Just cuz your daddy runs the business doesn’t mean you can be a douche.”
“Aren’t you little ball of sunshine,” Shouto mutters as he begins walking, and you can’t help but laugh as you watch him walk up staircases. “Can you do me a favor though?” He asks.
You hum, letting him know you were ready for anything he could ask, not that you were sure as to what it would be.
“Open your front door?”
Your scrunch your eyebrows together as you get off your bed and walk to the front door, “Did you get me a gift? I’m not forgetting our anniversary, and it’s not my birthday.” You say suspiciously as you open the door, your eyes concentrated on your phone before you glance at the floor for some package.
Except, it wasn’t a box you found your eyes looking at, but instead a pair of white sneakers. You froze and you felt your phone drop from your hands.
Tears swam in your eyes as you slowly trailed your eyes up the body and landed your gaze onto Shouto, who was staring at you with an almost breathless expression on his face. As if you two had been meeting for the first time and were in love at first sight.
Tears fell down your face and Shouto gingerly reached a hand out to wipe away the water coating your face.
“Hi, my love.”
thats it for now my lovely readers! i hope you enjoyed, long distance relationships are some of the best and worst experiences, but i think it makes a relationship stronger sometimes too!!!! anyways, i just hit 400 followers and that makes me excited, and i need ideas of things to do for that milestone!!! send me ideas!!!
bonus!
“No, no. Do not move.” You mumble into Shouto’s chest as the two of you finished making out for what was the twentieth time in the past two hours. “You’re ruining my time with you!”
“I’ll be here for a month, dumbass,” Shouto says and the small reassurance causes tingles to shoot down your body. "Besides, you're the one who's been gone for too long."
“Do you think we can beat our old records in a month?” You ask suggestively as you let Shouto get up to go pee.
“No, because you’re working.”
“I literally called out for the month the second you told me the first time!”
“They let you?”
“No, but I did get two weeks!”
You waited on your bed as Shouto returned back to the room wearing nothing but his pants and socks, his shirt had long since been taken off. “Well,” He says as he climbs on top of you, “I guess there’s only one way to find out.”
Smiles adorn both your faces as your lips meet halfway.

For my Beauty in Mundane Brief, my ideas are shapes found in buildings. I plan to do a series of two layers for Risograph. For the other idea it will be a series of two-layer screen prints of shapes found at the Seaside. The idea that I have chosen was shapes found in buildings.  The first Risograph comes out pixelated because when enlarged and the crop the image becomes pixelated. For the second Risograph I used drawings of my local church and the other is of the college building. I got that idea from laying the two drawings on top of each other.  I could have done more work if my health was better and was able to be in college. When it was during this brief, I was nearly submitted to different hospitals three times with two different infections.
I used a photo of a band stand that got pixelated, when it was edited for the printing, but it turned out good but not as good as I hoped it would turn out. The other photo I used was a half tone of one collage in Laura’s class. It became pixelated, so I cropped it. I also did RISO graphs of drawings that I did of the church and college buildings. These prints come out better than the building and halftone print. I did one with edits of photos and drawings of buildings for Risograph, I also did the edits using Canva. I did tracings of seaside which added colour by painting it and added details to it with a POSCA pen for my second concept broad. Then I did the other concept broad with photos of drawings that I have done. I have also done two collages using brusho as a background and glue, cutting up photos of the drawings to the background. For my second collage I used Risograph print for a background, I cut around it and glued the photos of the buildings. I have used a different app to create halftone on the collage.
The drawings that I did for development turn out well, but I would like the drawings to come out neater, I could have used a mixture of charcoal and POSCA pen to draw my drawings. I could have done a print of the college of the buildings printed out in a brighter colour, so it could stand out more on the Risograph print. I could have tried different shape frames on the photo to make the prints more interesting. I could draw the line in the drawing a lot neater to make the drawings better. When I was drawn with the charcoal, I wished that I had sprayed them with fixer spray before I knew the details of the drawing to stop the old details from rubbing out I traced the photos on to tracing paper then free handed the bricks on the building. I wish I could have been better at free hand drawing so the details will come out finer.
For my final I used the Risograph print with two layers then glued the monoprint on top of the solid black background.
My strengths and Weakness
       Strengths

PUT YOUR PHONE DOWN (yes that’s the title)
We are surrounded by it. Is there ever a time when you don’t have your phone in your pocket? Everywhere we look it is Instagram this and facebook that. Oh you only got 100 likes? Guess your picture is not good enough to be showcased to the world. How many times a day do you think you look at your phone? How about a computer or any type of a screen? Every day we are constantly reminded that we are choosing to compare ourselves to the people around us. Social media of all sorts fills our heads with unrealistic expectations of reality. How do you contribute to society? American culture has evolved tremendously over the past few decades mostly due to the media and technology. My development as a young adult has also been heavily impacted by the media and it has transformed me into the savage queen I am today.
Can you even think about a time when people were not so readily available on social media? It boggles my mind to think that in the 80s when my parents were alive that they could not just call their friends on their personal cell phones. I remember growing up when I was taught to call up my friend on the home phone and say “Hello sir this is Nicole Bernier calling I was wondering if Naomi was available to have a play date?” And then I would wait patiently for Naomis Dad to go ask her if she wanted to bike over to my house. Nowadays kids don’t even talk to each other! The children I coach already have their own instagram accounts and get 3 times the amount of likes I do. I cant imagine being so young in a world of technology trying to figure out how they want to be viewed by society. Even as a young adult, I continue to waste my time stressing about how I want others to view me. We get here to college and expect that everyone has got their life path figured out when most of us have absolutely no clue what we are doing and spend more time on Snapchat than we do writing an essay.
When you turn on the radio there is a large chance that it will be some rapper singing about drugs, money or chicks. It’s tasteless how famous people want to present themselves by trying to promote bad behaviors. But oh no everyone loves Ariana Grande and Drake and how “lavish” their lifestyle is. How Nicki Minajs butt implants and Kylie Jenners lip injections are the new craze. Statistics have shown that the younger generations are more insecure due to the conveniency of social media and how the celebrities choose to promote themselves. The media can have a negative impact on certain people especially children because they often compare themselves with these unrealistic standards we are constantly surrounded with.
As an avid 50s music listener, I truly find it interesting how the lyrics of most of the songs are about love and romance or true heartbreak. It’s pretty rad how that is an artifact in itself and its so readily available to us all the time. It also shows how the music culture has changed over the years. Most kids I’ve met think my music taste is weird or what “my grandma listens to” but honestly in a world of people listening to the same genre, I like to be unique. I think everyone should give a good listen to some Dion and the Heartbreaks or Frank Sinatra and at least give it a chance.
So just a couple of months ago I had to go on a cleanse. Not a juice cleanse or a bath full of Lysol, no I mean I had to delete all social media off my phone because it was making me unhappy. Surprisingly (or unsurprisingly) the people I surround myself with told me that it also made them feel insecure and that they would be better off without it. This sparked my interest and I did a poll on instagram seeing how many people disliked social media and the results had me shook. More than half of my followers that answered said that they hated it. Why do we keep these apps on our phone if our happiness is not benefited by using them? I chose to be happy and after I deleted my instagram facebook and Snapchat I felt 1000% more productive.
Unfortunately I caved in after 2 months and redownloaded them because there was no way I was going to Europe and not showing the world pictures of how delightful my vacation was. I posted a whole bunch of fabulous pictures but in reality I was sick nearly the entire time so I couldn’t enjoy myself to the fullest extent. I posed and pretended I wasn’t hacking up a lung and I was thrilled to see that people “liked” my vacation more than I did.
Don’t get me wrong I’m the queen of taking pictures to the point where my mom is like “Nicole I am not going to be your photographer. Put your phone away.” I have to catch myself sometimes and remember that I am not living to please random people on social media. I am living for the experiences, for the laughs and the genuine connections.
Pictures were made to capture a moment but why force happiness to present a life you are not living? It’s almost like propaganda in a way because were only showing one side of how we live. Hey if you’re as happy as every single post on your insta then go you that’s awesome but most people can agree that life is not always just the happy moments. That’s the thing. Most people use these platforms to only show the attractive parts of their lives. It’s all just a game of comparison and perception. But who’s life really is the best? Are you genuinely happy in that picture you take on the beach with your butt hanging out of your bikini and Gucci handbag just so convenient placed in the frame of the picture?
When I think of media and pop culture I think of how my goal as a child was to literally become Sandy from Grease when she was all decked out in her red lipstick, leather pants and a cigarette hanging out of her mouth. I though she was the coolest person ever. I watched that movie on REPEAT because it was the only PG13 movie my mom allowed me to watch on my DVD player. Within a few years I was that kid who started smoking as a teen because I thought it looked “cool”. Now I’m stuck with a nasty habit that everyone thinks is gross because the media evolved to somehow make smoking cigarettes uncool but vaping apparently pretty dang cool. Guess I’m just a few years late.
When you’re young you need some kind of an idol or a person to admire. When I was a preteen I listened to Eminem and really resonated with his lyrics. His anger lit a fire within me and I became more and more defiant the longer I listened to him. I chose to be influenced by his freedom of speech and it gave me confidence to deliberately act upon my impulsive behavior. Parents hated Eminem because he got fame for promoting violence and presented himself in a negative way. I related to the fact that he was misunderstood yet also didn’t care about how people viewed him. As much as I want to forget 2008 me I will always remember how the music I listened to impacted my life and decisions at the time.
Speaking of 2008, I remember having a flip phone and trying to hold it still for about 4 seconds to make sure the pixelated picture did not come out too blurry. Now we have 12 year olds editing their face and their body on photoshop because that’s what the instagram models do. They wont ever understand how hard it was to type the s on the flip phones with no alphabet keypad. I was out here responding to texts hours late with one word answers and now here I am texting paragraphs like its none of my business.
Technology and the media is constantly evolving and shaping our culture into what it is today. It is changing so rapidly by incorporating technology into every little task and as much as I hate it I know that it plays an important role in who I am as an individual and how I choose to be viewed by others. People like to communicate with each other and that is why social media exists but there is a fine line between using it for practical purposes and allowing it control your life. To this day I struggle with using my phone as a tool rather than a time suck. Maybe Ill just pack my bags, and venture out into the wilderness to escape this crazy tech era. Hopefully they’ll have an outlet for my iPhone charger though.

A Hand to the Devil? A Gift to the Masses?
I’m thinking that this might be my last post here on Tumblr. I’m not antiTumblr, necessarily…it was a necessity in 2015 to get up and going as quickly as possible. But it has always felt clunky and now that we have other options: our official page, Medium, Patreon…it’s time to consolidate, I think. I feel like this blog has kind of been out in the wilderness a little and maybe it’s time to give it a better home.
Speaking of Patreon, our page launched last Thursday, and while I was very much looking forward to it, I can’t lie: I lost a number of nights of sleep over it. Why?
It’s the oldest way for artists to exist: through the patronage of people that want to support the artists in making new art. This practice allowed tons of artists do what they did for centuries, and happily. But this practice hasn’t really been a part of the modern world until “crowdfunding” became legal. Even then, it is one thing to ask people to help you pay for one thing. It’s another to ask for people to give part of their monthly income to you, not knowing about the thing, but hoping that a thing happens. So, anxiety.
It is thrilling and feels icky at the same time, to ask for people to be your patrons. On the one hand, why shouldn’t you ask? I want to create things, as an artist. I want to create things for a living, as an artist. Why would those two statements need to be separate thoughts?
I was actually taught that they were separate thoughts. If you are a son of two artists, you learn that money isn’t something that is easy to come by. You go to art school, you are encouraged to wear the “starving artist” badge on your sleeve proudly. Artists are special. They are different. Artists are poor.
Again, why? I don’t know. If you’ve never tried to make a living being a full-time artist, you might don’t know this. It’s hard. When I make money as a web developer, it sometimes makes me angry. Why do I make so much more money building a website for a marketing firm, or an app for a company that sells stocks? These jobs aren’t nearly as difficult or interesting to me as writing a song or acting in a play, but they are far more highly valued by society.
I like writing code. I like getting paid to do so. But I don’t like it as much as being on stage. I can (more easily) support my family writing code, and live a comfortable life, but if that’s all I do, I feel unfulfilled. I could build websites by day and act in plays at night, but that is sort of a drag for me because then I’m in two full-time day jobs and am always sort of strung out and exhausted and can’t give my best to any work I do.
This is just me, by the way. I’m just speaking about my experience as an artist. My fellow developers are very fulfilled being full-time coders. Tons of actors here in Chicago love to have day jobs for money and then put on their “Artist Caps” at night. They have the drive and energy to do that. I am not knocking their choices. I’m just a better person, a better artist, when I am single-tasking: getting paid to do one, fulfilling, creative job.
Jump, Little Children never got “famous”. We were successful for a rock band in that we could hit the road and have between 50 and 5000 people come see us when we played, depending on the location. In some cities we were almost a household name and in others very few people had heard of us. We weren’t as business-savvy and easy to swallow as Guster and we weren’t a sexy two-person band like Shovels and Rope. We just didn’t catch on enough, and there is no big clear reason why. We cannot really blame bad management and record label issues. The truth is that tons of amazing bands don’t catch on, don’t make it to Conan, but love writing and playing and do it for as long as they can financially and emotionally stay afloat. It doesn’t matter “why”. We gave it our all, made some good decisions and some bad ones, and were proud that it was our full-time job for as long as it was.
Of course, by “full-time job” standards, we were way below the poverty level our entire career. It’s expensive to run a business, and Jump was our sexy business, which meant that if there was anyone that was going to get a pay cut when times were tough, it wouldn’t be our manager, tour manager, lawyer, or sound guy. Just us. You keep going in the hopes that you’ll eventually be the ones making the most money; that didn’t happen for us and I have no regrets.
It was amazing to finally get paid a living wage when the band was done in 2005. The first time I made a weekly paycheck I couldn’t believe it. Making $30k a year for the first time was like being fabulously wealthy…and this was in my very late 30s. Being comfortable was intoxicating for a while, but not being a creative person for a living kind of left me with a empty feeling in my chest. My journal entries pre-2015 had a theme: ask after ask for the Universe to bring me something that would both be a fulfilling career and support my family at the same time.
Yet when the Universe brought the Jump reunion in 2015 to me, I was the last person in the band that said “yes”. I assumed that the chapter was closed and I was fine with it. The five of us weren’t that close at the time and I had forgotten what it was like to play music with people that knew you as well as Jay, Johnny, Ward and Evan knew me. I knew that saying “yes” was going to open up a lot of baggage that had been packed away, would be a ton of extra work for me personally, was going to be scary and emotional and possibly a big fucking failure.
It has been some of those things, too. But as you’ve gathered from this blog, it has also been incredible–a great creative lump of plaster putty to fill in my unfulfilled chest hole (gross!). Worth the being away from home, worth the pay cuts again, worth the anxieties and fears and insecurities. Lots and lots of sleepless nights. Worth it.
I’m luckier than the members of the band that don’t live on Facebook and Instagram, I’m luckier than those that don’t stay in the lobbies of rock clubs after every show until the venue kicks us all out. I’m luckier, because I can see the direct impact our saying “yes” to JLC in 2015 made on your lives and therefore on my life. You’re very honest about it, and I don’t take it lightly. The music has gotten you through bad times and good and happy moments and sad. The community has not just been a place to put your love of a rock band, but also a place to put your own dreams and hopes and needs. Every band might be required to say “we couldn’t do it without our fans” but I know more than anyone how true that statement is for Jump. I’m lucky.
So, Patreon.
Man, it is hard. I get it. For those of you that are a little taken aback at our choice to try this out in order to keep our creative little rock and roll world afloat, I feel you. Everyone is asking for your money these days. How can people that don’t have 9 to 5 jobs ask you to help pay for their lifestyle? Especially if you like your 9 to 5 job? I do not have an answer, because it feels a little icky and uncomfortable to me, too.
Cards on table: Jump, Little Children has two options in 2019. We can’t afford to do what we did last year and not get paid for the intense amount of work it takes to be a mostly-full-time band: writing, recording, touring, posting, streaming, marketing. We either try this Patreon thing out, or something like it, to see if it will help us be able to spend more time writing music and creating things, or we spend less time on the band and do more lucrative things to keep food on tables. Realistically, we will still have to do other things anyway, but anything helps. The days (and chances) of a big record label swooping in and paying us to write and record songs are over, and even when our big record label did swoop in, we didn’t get a pay raise anyway.
Friday morning I woke up with an idea to record some Irish music with my friend Amanda Kapousouz in time for St. Pat’s. And I felt a freedom to have that thought that I didn’t have before. Sure, I might have done the recording anyway, but knowing that I could at some point make a creative work like that happen and get paid for it was inspiring. I’ve just spent three hours writing this letter to you. Connecting with you has always been my job and always will be, whether I get paid for it or not, but it does take time, time that I could spend coding, I suppose. I’d rather write these love letters to you.
Patronage isn’t about putting a price on your love. We are putting a price on the pride we take in our work, the time we take to agonize over details, the care we put into everything from a melody, to a sentence, a pixel, a shade of hair dye. It’s not your responsibility to feed us. It’s our responsibility to find the means to feed ourselves. We would like to do that by writing songs and producing new content, and we are attempting to find new and creative ways to do so.
It could be a winning solution for everyone. If this works out for us, the goal is to keep writing music and performing. With something like Patreon, we could possibly have a new album next year. Without it, we might have a new album in 2022. That’s not a huge difference. Either way, it’s OK, right?
Support us on Patreon if you can, but if you cannot: please don’t. Please please don’t. If you like this idea and want to support us, but can’t afford to, let us know how we might help you make that work. Is it to change the tier prices? To put more stuff in the lower tiers? What would make it worth it? We need to have all the data at hand.
And if you can’t, please accept that we are still going to be around and not play games with your hearts? We’ll post to the same social media and do the same silly LIVE chats and tour and hopefully write new music. We are here, we love you just as much, so you can let other people pay while you reap the benefits, OK?
Whew. I feel better getting this off my chest…thank you. I’m gonna go record some flute, now, for fun…and profit?
We love you,
Matt “Overshare” Bivins

three Methods To Convert WMA To MP3 On Windows
Wma to MP3,MP2,WMA , WAV, OGG, APE, AAC(used by iTunes),FLAC(lossless compression),MP4,M4A, MPC(MusePack),AC3,TTA,ofr(OptimFROG),SPX(Speex),Ra(Real audio), and WavePack. I consider most video and audio fans know that RealPlayer can play a number of movies and audios, together with MP3, WMA, RM, MP4, WMV, MOV, AVI, and so forth and in addition can obtain videos from video websites, like YouTube, Metacafe, Dailymotion, converting wma to mp3 linux Vimeo, IMDb, and many others. but one other import operate RealPlayer features many people are not conscious of is that RealPlayer can convert some non-broadly used video or audio codecs to more extensively used video or audio codecs to watch or edit movies or audio on many several types of devices, media players or other packages. If you convert videos or audios with RealPlayer, the extra proposed output formats are flash, mp4, mov, wmv, mp3. Right here comes a question that's what if individuals need to convert to more video or audio codecs, like changing to 3GP, ASF, WAV, FLAC, and many others.? The following article will simply offers the solution to the above query. To transform songs presently in your iTunes library, open the software program and find the Preferences menu from the iTunes dropdown on a Mac or Edit dropdown on a Home windows computer. Subsequent, click the Basic tab, then discover the Import Settings within the lower part of the Preferences window. After that, click on the dropdown subsequent to Import Using, choose the format and click OKAY to save lots of that import format as the default setting. iTunes permits for batch changing, so the final step is to pick all of the recordsdata you wish to convert, click the File menu, http://www.audio-transcoder.com/how-to-convert-wma-files-to-mp3 then choose Convert and click on Create MP3 Model. In the event you selected a special output format, it shows that format relatively than MP3.
JERRY: I'm a type of outdated-faculty audiophiles that used to have the Discwasher and the costly turntables and $300 cartridges. And when CDs first happened in the mid-'80s, among the early digital recordings, even the digital recordings that have been reproduced on LP - Pablo and Fantasy each did that with jazz teams - sounded type of trebly. And I suppose it's the aural equal of wanting on the dots or pixels of a not very positive photograph. Moreover, we are accustomed to higher frequencies at a lower level; take a look at the "inexperienced stuff"—it is within the -60dB to -70dB range, that's, solely 10dB to 15dB louder than the overtones (again, an element of two to 3 instances as quiet or as loud). Will we hear the green stuff? The yellow stuff? The cyan stuff? I do not know. Earlier than weighing vinyl's, ahem, good and bad sides, wma2mp3 it helps to know how data are made. In brief, an engineer comparable to Gonsalves receives mixed recordings from the studio (or perhaps a band's laptop computer) to grasp and reduce to a lacquer, which is mailed off to be impressed upon the units of metal stampers which will press lots of or thousands of PVC pellets into vinyl LPs. Not every mastering engineering cuts lacquers — lathes have not been made in decades and are in short supply, which keeps owners like Gonsalves busy — and Gonsalves is often despatched digital files to work from reasonably than the all-analog tape one might expect. For what it's price, I took to Twitter with a couple of movies evaluating the best way the two speakers sound, and polled my followers as to which they most popular in each case. The brand new Dot was the clear favourite, incomes about 80 p.c of the votes in every test. Depend me amongst that majority - if I had to pick one to listen to my favourite playlist on, it'd be the new Dot. Then again, for those who blindfolded me and asked me to tell you which speaker I was listening to, I am unsure that I'd be capable to inform. The two are fairly close. Tidal's Hello-Fi offering permits the service to stream crystal-clear audio to customers' headphones or audio system that surpass the usual high quality provided by competing companies. With simplified execution, onlineconvertfree is a free online WMA to MP3 converter. The software has got some fascinating features such as the support of quite a few file formats and a wonderful conversion pace. It's got a few advertisements, however the web site's design is interesting and simply understandable. The modus operandi for on-line converter WMA to MP3 is a one-click on process. A1: Windows Media Audio ( WMA ) is an audio information compression know-how developed by Microsoft. The name can be utilized to check with its audio file format or its audio codecs. This software targets people who get pleasure from their music in high quality wma format but also want it into a highly portable format like mp3. The first and possibly most essential purpose that records sound different from MP3s and CDs is that in the digital realm, the artist can create just about any sound that they want and it is going to be faithfully reproduced within the digital world. Records, and particularly the machines used to make the master recordings (chopping lathe) shouldn't have the luxurious of unlimited dynamic vary and frequency response. Helps: WMA, MP3, OGG, WAV PCM, FLAC, APE (Monkey's Audio) and Audio CD conversion. One of the most common strategies carried out to transform WMA to MP3 is cloud convert. This freemium software can quickly convert between 100 different file codecs. This includes WMA and MP3. Nonetheless, there are some limitations such as the file measurement should not exceed 1GB and users are restricted to carry out solely 25 conversions per day. After conversion, the general audio high quality will likely be nice. Right here is how to use this free WMA to MP3 converter. Some analysis signifies that the ear is extra sensitive to those relative EQ adjustments than to the quantity change itself. In consequence, music or other acquainted audio sources that sound correctly equalized at one degree might sound just a little "off" at a distinct quantity. When the extent of a live performance sound mix changes by 10 dB, it may sound as if an invisible hand is reaching over to the P.A.'s system EQ and altering the curve by a couple of dB in lots of places. In order to acquire a factor, one thing of equal value must be lost. So whereas we now have managed to obtain the ability of packaging hundreds and 1000's of songs into our miniature music players, we now have needed to sacrifice a minimum of some quantity of audio quality, owing to the compression methods which are used to attain the dimensions discount of those audio recordsdata.WMA is a common audio format in Windows which enjoys the equal reputation with MP3 information. Even though you possibly can switch WMA to iPhone, iPhone can't play WMA files in the Music app. That's as a result of WMA is just not compatible with iOS units and Mac for some right protection. So you possibly can play your WMA on iPhone with 3rd-get together apps or convert them to MP3 while transferring to iPhone. MQA processing , developed by Meridian, particularly addresses time smear and should allow lower sample rates to sound nearly as good as the upper charges used for as we speak's high-resolution recordings. The opinions are optimistic, and I stay up for evaluating MQA playback from recordings which were MQA-encoded and ones that haven't.

Dragthing registration code
Tumblr media
#Dragthing registration code drivers
#Dragthing registration code full
#Dragthing registration code pro
#Dragthing registration code mac
#Dragthing registration code windows
Many of my most common tasks take additional time or mouse clicks to get to. The finder does not give me the classic MacOS experience. I get the beach ball sometimes on the most mundance tasks the open/save dialog boxes are completely unusable compared to OS 9 X is just too slow UI wise on my computer.
#Dragthing registration code full
You pretty much summed up why I don't use X full time (only when I need access to certain unix apps).
#Dragthing registration code mac
Users, but it's the hoards of people who like their Mac looking 'just so'Īs to using it everyday Nooo! One of the reasons I run my own business isīecause I don't like being told what to do! I was expecting difficulties, but the level of (visible) change looks to beĪn order of magnitude greater. Having heard the howls of anguish from system 6 users when 7 came in, The huge icons are a pain and more suited to Sesame Street than my desktop,īut at least I was able to eventually find a slider to globally shrink them. It summed up a lot of my own experiences of User testing is being done right now by everybody working with a Mac. On the other hand I feel that OSX is a good step forward but should be really be considered a beta-stage UI. In general I agree with you and what you wrote in the article. And I still don't know what's the purpose of those semi-transparent title bars. That works pretty much better for me on this CPU than the full redraw. Users should be able to switch off most of the candy in exchange for speed. Every time I print I have to tell him that it's not Letter size but european A4. The one thing that really annoys me in OSX is that it won't remember my printer's page size.
#Dragthing registration code drivers
I still CAN'T DO a lot of stuff in OSX because of drivers and applications but the multitasking performance is a huge, HUGE welcome. Mainly OS9 advantages nowadays is because of software. I agree with you that OS X is slow but I find it beginning to be more productive than OS 9. But all the apps I was running were classic, so they still crashed! The only single benefit I found in OSX was that it never crashed. I have switched back to OS 9.2.2 and it's so much snappier, easier to find thing etc. I have been trashing OSX's interface since the day I got it, and your article echoes my thoughts, in my role as an interface designer.
#Dragthing registration code windows
I use the Mac only for Digital Performer (the best sequancer and Digital Audio editor on the market) but I guess that MOTU will have to release Digital Performer for Windows in the future since MAC is DEAD. In the beginning I was using 80% of the time the Mac and 20% the PC. So now I have on my desk a Mac 8500 with a Newertech G3 500mhz card running beside a Windows box with 1.5 Mhz sharing the same Monitor.
#Dragthing registration code pro
Windows 2000 Pro is VERY stable and has the most popular programs available on the Mac running in it and then some. So I made the following calculation.Īpple will obviously put all their efforts in OSX. OSX might have appeal to the thousands of Unix or Linux users but not to the masses and masses is where you sell so masses is where developers will put their efforts into even if they develop their products on sophisticated OSs. I understood very early on that this is going to be fiasco for main stream users. Most of the apps I use will redraw the window outside of the menu bar, sometimes far outside, so that test is not nearly as reveling.īravo! But I did better. The same is true in the other direction, only it will depend on how the app deals with it as to how you see the difference. Take any Carbon app that remembers window positions, drag the window to the top in X, quit and boot into Classic, open the app, and presto, you'll notice the window is several pixels away from the menu bar. One thing I have noticed though is the menu bar is bigger on X then on Classic. Where things are fast and efficient (though I do crash every now & then.) I hope Apple rethinks this, as for me, I'm slap happy to be back in OS9 land Needed bright, big icons to find their way about. Improvements but I hated the Aqua interface. I loved the stability and some of the obvious What keeps me going is the hope that OS X in its current form is the System 4 of what was and we are in store for a lot of improvement.Īhh its like the Emperor's New Clothes! Your article expresses exactly what Hate on the Mac (the doc, the minimize button, etc.).Īpple is dead they just haven't realized it yet. Knock-offs, that I don't particularly like on Windows, but The Mac UI, and have replaced it with Copycat Windows They have removed/destroyed everything I loved about

When I was heading to France last week, I considered taking my Nikon d750 with me, because I thought, not unreasonably, that France might be a photogenic country and that I might want to get some high quality photos of the place. I decided against it for a number of reasons, but one of the major reasons was that a couple of weeks ago I got myself a Pixel 3 phone, which reviewers have suggested may have the best camera on a phone out there. I’d previously had a Pixel 2, the former “best cell phone camera out there,” so I was curious as to how the Pixel 3 would improve on the camera.
So I left the Nikon at home and used only the Pixel 3 to take shots while I was in France. I ended up taking something around 500 pictures while I was in country (many of the best of which I have collected in this Flickr photo album), and can now tell you what I think about the experience. Here are my notes, in no particular order, with occasional art. Please remember that these thoughts are from someone who loves taking pictures but is not a professional photographer, so I’m not going to go into the weeds with technical issues and jargon. I’m mostly noting the experience of just trying to take pictures.
1. Overall I was very happy with the quality of the photos and the intelligence of the camera — the latter perhaps being a weird thing to say, but the fact is what separates the Pixel line of cell phones as cameras is not the hardware (which is mostly high-end but standard issue for a cell phone), but the processing Google applies to the photo data once the photo is taken. The camera makes choices, basically, about how it interprets the data you give it once you snap the photos.
And those choices are generally very good! There wasn’t a situation where I thought the Pixel 3 wasn’t capable of handling itself. As with nearly all cell phone cameras (and, honestly, nearly every camera, period), the Pixel 3 works best when it has a lot of good, bright, natural light, but it did very well inside and also very well in visually challenging environments with a lot of contrast between bright and dark (like, for example, the interior of the Notre Dame cathedral). Not every picture I took was perfect or even good, but the reason for that had as much to do (and perhaps even more so) with operator error as it did with the camera itself. Which is to say I can’t blame the bad pictures on the cell phone camera; a lot of it was me.
2. What do the photos look like coming out of the camera? Here are five, which I’ve not done any post-processing to (i.e., no tweaking with the various photo editors I have). These pictures were taken with the settings the Pixel 3 has right out of the box, including the HDR+ processing turned on, without zoom, and recording to jpg. Right-click on the pictures to get a larger versions of them (choose the “open image in new tab” option), and see the various details.
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
Right out of the camera, the Pixel 3 a pretty good job of things. The colors are correct and not overly saturated, and the HDR+ mode does a good job of bringing out details in shadows without making them look overly processed. Note in particular the picture of the musicians in the conference room; the light’s behind them and their faces are shadowed, but the Pixel 3 does a pretty good job of balancing the data so you can see their faces clearly. In the rose picture there’s decent depth of field — not a lot, but the Pixel 3 knows what it’s looking at. There are limits, and you can see some of the choices the Pixel 3 has to make in the photo of the Notre Dame alcove, but those limits mostly show themselves in challenging situations where most any camera would show limitations of some sort.
I personally do a fair amount of photo-editing of my pictures, both to bring up details and for aesthetic effect, and the Pixel 3 gives me a fair amount to work with, even as it records the data into a lossy format like jpg (there is an option to have the camera record in RAW — the lossless format that gives photographers the most information to work with — but I didn’t turn that on and don’t really plan to except on very special occasions, because the files sizes are huge). It’s a fact that for a lot of photos, I don’t really have to do much editing at all — I merely straighten out sightlines or crop for better composition as much as I tweak colors or bring up shadows.
Out of the box, the Pixel 3 takes pictures that are better than “good enough,” and that’s a good thing. For people who like fiddling with photos like me, what comes out of the camera is even better than that.
3. One of the — perfectly reasonable — knocks on the Pixel 3 is that where other high-end cell phone cameras have an optical zoom function, the Pixel 3 doesn’t, Google instead opting to try to deal with zoom through processing (involving the minute unsteadiness of the human hand, or something, to help fill in interpolative gaps). I used the zoom function a lot while walking around and trying to get details that would otherwise be too far away. My verdict on the zoom is: well, it does something, but razor-sharp details isn’t it.
This is again probably best viewed, so here are four photos at or close to full zoom, three of statutes or architectural details at the Louvre, and one, of that tower they have there in Paris. Again, right-click on the picture for details (or in this case, lack thereof). Again, these pictures are straight out of the camera and otherwise unedited:
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
My impression of these zoomed in pictures is that they don’t look like photos, they look like pastel drawings, or what happens when you use a very light “oil painting” photo filter from Photoshop or some other photo app. They don’t look bad? But at the same time, this is not what I want when I zoom in. I zoom in because I want a closer look at something, not an artful, detail-smoothed representation of that thing.
I read in a review of the Pixel 3 where a reviewer notes that the zoom works as intended up to about a 1.5x zoom, and after that things start getting overly interpretive. My experience has been that this estimation is largely correct. I have some pictures that are moderately zoomed in that are perfectly good. But too much zoom means you’re getting the AI version of impressionism. My thought on this is that this iteration of AI zoom is only the first, and that Google will probably get better at it as it goes along, because that’s what Google generally does. So two Pixel generations from now, this will likely be a solved issue (or alternately, Google will throw up its hands and just put an optical zoom on future Pixels). Here with the Pixel 3 and today, however, be aware that the zoom works up to a point (1.5x or so), and then it gets kind of wacky.
4. The only other real issue with the Pixel 3 that I’ve noticed is that it feels a bit slower than the Pixel 2; sometimes there seems to be a lag between when I press the button to take the picture and the camera registers the picture being taken. It’s a relatively small issue but it’s been noticeable to me, and I wonder if other people have been experiencing it as well. I’ve not missed any photos because of it, fortunately. But be aware of the possibility of a bit of shutter lag.
5. On the selfie front, the Pixel 3 features a “wide angle selfie” mode — an optical zoom out, if you will, thanks to two cameras on the front of the phone. This actually is very useful for when you’re trying to get a lot of people into frame while taking selfies:
Do be aware the the wide-angle selfie mode has some distortion. But then, selfie cameras have distortion anyway (it’s why your nose always looks big in a selfie), so I guess you pick your poison with selfie distortion. What I do know is that I’ve used the wide-angle selfie function several times already, so this was a smart add-on on Google’s part.
6. This is not meant to be an exhaustive review of the Pixel 3 camera, but one that touches on how I’ve been using it. I’m not covering a lot of the functionality of the thing — I haven’t used the video mode, or the panorama mode or tried the “HDR+ enhanced” mode, or sideloaded the apparently super-cool but not-officially-released “night mode” into the phone to try it out (the night mode apparently makes it possible to take super clear pictures in very low light, and the key as far as I can tell is a long exposure time, which, well, yes, it would be, wouldn’t it). I’m not covering any of those things because, as noted, this is not how I’ve been using the camera. I’ve been using the camera in a pretty straightforward fashion, as I suspect most people will.
And as a “daily driver” camera, the Pixel 3 really works. It takes great pictures and in all sorts of circumstances, and with the exception of the zoom above a certain point, steps up when you need it to (also, as an aside, the fact that the Pixel 3 comes with unlimited storage in Google Photos is a point well in its favor, since you can store your photos there and keep your phone’s memory relatively uncluttered). We’re now well past the point where the average person has to wonder whether they’re missing out on really excellent photos if they only have their cell phone with them. With the Pixel 3, the answer to that is definitively “you’re not missing out.” This phone will get that great shot for you, most of the time.
7. Does this mean I’m ready to ditch my dSLR for the Pixel 3 full time? No; the dSLR still has a better sensor, better lenses, and does specific things much better than the Pixel 3 does or will (like, sorry, Google, zoom). But this isn’t an either/or situation; this is a “this, and” situation. I no longer have one excellent camera and one camera that I just happen to carry around; I have two excellent cameras whose use cases overlap but are not a perfect circle on the Venn diagram. I don’t suspect I’ll ever stop using a dedicated camera for particular things where a high-end, single-use piece of machinery makes sense. But, as noted above, when I have my Pixel 3 with me, I don’t worry that I don’t generally have enough camera with me.
8. Does it make sense for people to upgrade to a Pixel 3? I’m very happy I did, but I also acknowledge I’m a tech geek with a particular interest in photography, and I have enough money to indulge in this sort of thing (my other phone stopped working, which prompted me to get the Pixel 3, but let’s not pretend there wasn’t a good chance I would have gotten one anyway).
If you already have a Pixel 2 (or the first generation Pixel), some of the new capabilities of the Pixel 3 camera are going to be available to you with software upgrades. So unless you’re already at the part of your upgrade cycle where you’re getting a new phone anyway, you can probably sit tight and be fine. If you have the latest generation of “flagship” phone from Apple, Samsung or any other high-end phone manufacturer, you’re also probably just fine. Cameras are the new hotness on phones and every manufacturer will tell you why their iteration of cellphone camera tech is the best. It’s getting a little silly (some upcoming phones will have up to five cameras on the back of a phone, which seems much of a muchness), but on the other hand if you’ve got a high end, recent phone, you probably have a very good cell phone camera no matter what. Finally, if you just don’t care about photos, either from your cell phone or in general, the Pixel 3’s camera capabilities won’t matter regardless.
But if you are looking to upgrade, do like taking pictures and want to have the possibility of taking genuinely good photos with your phone, are fine with Google knowing everything about your digital life, and (not trivially) have between $800 and $1,000 to splash out on a phone (or have Verizon, which will let you slide it into your existing plan for a monthly fee), then I can really very highly recommend the Pixel 3. Aside from (yes) taking some of the best photos possible on a cell phone, it is also otherwise a very solid high-end phone, with some features (call screening, I’m looking at you) that are amazing differentiators, and an operating system upgrade cycle that means you always have the best, most recent version of Android first.
For me, in any event, it’s been well worth the upgrade, and not just for the photos, although the photos probably would have been enough. I really like this camera, and I really like this phone.
Taking Pictures With the Pixel 3: Some Thoughts When I was heading to France last week, I considered taking my Nikon d750 with me, because I thought, not unreasonably, that France might be a photogenic country and that I might want to get some high quality photos of the place.

Smile For The Camera
I remember when I first got into photography. It was back in the 1970s, and Dad handed off his Pentax K-1000, a sturdy, reliable SLR. I fell in love with composing the shot, adjusting the ISO, f-stop, and shutter speed. I was completely in control, even if I did flub a lot of my early shots.
But experience begets quality, and soon enough I learned how to get great pics. The only problem was that I did not have a home dark room, and had to send off my film canisters in the mail to some faraway processor. In about two weeks, I would get a large envelop with all of my prints.
Try pitting that against the instant gratification of digital photography these days!
I got my first digital camera in 1996, a $600 pocket-sized Casio that produced photos in a stunning 320 X 240 resolution. Mega-pixels hadn’t even been considered at that point, but I could see the writing on the wall: film photography would rapidly become a dying art form. Digital was cheap (aside from the cost of the camera). Once memory cards were invented (yes, that Casio had internal storage!), it meant that film was as cheap as the price of a memory card, which could be copied and deleted infinitely as we stored our photos elsewhere.
Digital cameras kept improving, and come 2007, we had the first smartphone with its own camera. That initial iPhone was terrible in terms of picture quality, almost as bad as my first Casio. Skip forward to today, though, and smartphone cameras rival many of the best beginner and even advanced digital cameras available. My iPhone X has both front and rear 12 mega-pixel cameras. Take, for example, this shot of Lake Tahoe I took in September.
Tumblr media
One unintended consequence of all this technology is that everyone now thinks of themselves as a photographer. Decent entry-level cameras can be purchased for less than $500, and, well, since everyone also wants a smartphone, it means that a camera is seldom ever more than a few inches away from our shutter finger. It has made it tough on pro photographers, who have been losing out on wedding and event gigs to amateurs with fairly decent gear.
But with smartphone cameras steadily improving, suddenly the days for those beginner DSLRs may be limited. Phones can take amazing photos these days, and if you know how to frame the shot and work the light, you can surprise a lot of people with your work. While I still tote my Sony a6500 and Canon 70D everywhere I go, I also have my iPhone, and I shoot nearly everything in duplicate, meaning digital and phone.
Besides, often I like to post things to my Facebook or Instagram accounts, and even though the Sony has Bluetooth, it still takes a little bit of time to transfer photos from the camera to the phone.
Better yet is the proliferation of free and inexpensive editing apps that can make photos sizzle. I use the free Lightroom app to tweak many of my photos, like the one above, as well as this one at Scotts Bluff National Monument in Nebraska.
Tumblr media
This is all another way of getting to my main point: We have reached the point of practically everyone being armed with a solid camera. They may not know how to use it correctly, frame shots right, work the light, or edit, but they have cameras. My iPhone X camera is infinitely better than what I bought in 1996.
Perhaps the biggest benefit to society, though, is that we are taking more photos than ever before. Some day we will all be thankful for cheap photography, because it means we will have a better record of the past than what we do now of a century ago, when the process was far more complicated and expensive.
In the words of my photographer back when I was Editor of my college newspaper, “Shoot lots, and you are bound to get a few good ones.” He said that when he was rolling his own film, and had benefit of the university dark room. I’m sure he would say it today, except maybe, “Shoot lots...and then shoot again.”
As for me, I am grateful my Dad introduced me to this art form. When he died in 2016, he had three cameras at his ready disposal...at the age of 95. I can only hope to be clicking away with such fervor at that age. If I make that age.
And if you were still here, Dad, I’d be pointing at you and saying, “Smile for the camera.”

Progress update 26/01/2022
10am This morning I woke up to emails saying that the meeting today I was going to attend has been postponed. So I suddenly have my day back and I feel overwhelmed by all the options of really important things I could be doing...
I could finally check through all the receipts and file my expenses (I mean my contract only ended 5 weeks ago) or write some of the overdue things or send meeting minutes or contact the council or chat to EE about reducing my phone bill or go visit my nana...
I can decide. Paralysed by indecision. I'll just make grave plans instead I think, but despite having eaten breakfast, my hands are shaking as if my blood sugar is low. I feel a bit faint too. I think it might be anxiety. I hope it clms down. I keep fighting it to keep going even though now I'm yawning every few minutes as my brain fails to get enough oxygen. I feel sick too.
11.15am So I perserved, and even with still feeling really rough - really really rough - it took me an hour to draw the plan for HGE 13 so that was less time than I estimated yesterday, even with my hands fighting me all the way - getting the graves the right size (to the nearest pixel) with shaky hands sucks. I think it was quicker than usua because there are lots of paths and a big tree, so fewer grave markers. I really want to take a nap now, but maybe I should carry on with the inscriptions and other data. I'll try anyway - I'll try and keep going til 12.45 when my meeting should have ended - that's about another hour and a half.
11.45am Good thing I don't need to go anywhere til this evening now. With how I'm feeling so muddled I haven't had a shower yet and the washing machine has just kicked in so now I'm stuck in my dressing gown for at least another 2 hours. I've got one grave form done in the last 30 minutes. It was like fighting through treacle though.
2.45pm I didn't keep going solely on uni work, got distracted by a few emails and calls, but mostly I have carried on. Got HGE13 done now. So only 1 grave plan and 2 graves left to do!! If only it wasn't the most complaced plan.
Going to finally have a shower, hang the washing and eat something now. My back hurts and I'm really shaky.
5.40pm I finished the plan for HGE14 and it only took an hour, despite being really confusing and complicated. I've also cooked and eaten dinner. I'd really like to do the last 2 grave forms today, but my back is absolutely killing me from being hunched over the computer and I'm supposed to go to a Holocaust Memorial Day event in less than an hour, so I'd better go take a lateral flow test and get ready.
9pm It was really weird to be out of the house at all after being such a hermit this week. This was also the 1st time I'm seen being inside an actual building to watch live music, theatre or dance since before the pandemic - that made me cry nearly as much as the Holocaust survivor testimonies and the moving performances by the kids. I felt pretty safe as most people were wearing masks and the seating was spaced out. There was a bit of a row at the door when I arrived because you needed a COVID pass to get in. I don't remember seeing that on the event info the school sent, but I have the app on my phone and had just done a test (and remembered to upload it!) so I was able to get in quickly. If you didn't have the pass, they were doing testing on the door, so I'm not really sure what the fuss was about, but some people seem to get pretty angry about any restrictions now.
I don't want to carry on working now but being so close to the end of this task makes it tempting. I've moved the laptop to the sofa and brought my notes over with me but my back is still a mess so my arm twinges every few minutes while I try to type.
I'll see how far I get.
12.15pm I got them all done! I'm so relieved! Tomorrow I'm going to take some time back and do some of the other things on my to do list, and then re-read and make to do lists for my other thesis chapters. I want to make a trello board (or something, I'm not sure if Trello can do what I need) for all the tasks with time frames and mini deadlines. I need to try and overcome my disorganised brain somehow. Friday I start in ernest with the remote retreat!
