having a wedding genuinely sounds so scary to me like it's one of those personal hell scenarios the devil would concoct specifically for me if he existed

aside from the fact that i'd be agreeing to a legal contract that involves the state in my personal relationships & that i'm highly likely to break in the future (with an unnecessarily bureaucratic & long process may i add), doing it IN PUBLIC in front of multiple people for whom i have to provide food, entertainment, and place, sounds like a nightmare

and that's not even getting into all the details and bs that people i see who are getting married have to sort out, it's just incredible stress for the stupidest reason on earth

#marriage should be abolished for real like there is absolutely NO need for the state to be involved in my personal relationships #i get that it's useful for things like custody agreements alimony etc which protect women from being fleeced #but like those wouldn't be a problem if the patriarchal concept of marriage and ownership didn't exist in the first place lol #also i have the same opinion re:same sex marriage. i understand why it's important for the legal protections #but i'd make the same decision if i was with a woman #like there is absolutely no decoupling the concept of marriage from its patriarchal roots no matter who is in it i'm sorry #do NOT even get me started on the different tax brackets for married/childless people like marriage as an institution is actual evil #anyways thanks for coming to my anti-marriage ted talk. don't get married #lina laments.txt
