Relevant meme I made
I just have to say itâs really refreshing to read your thoughts on the walrus/fairy post, as I also have very strong feelings about it. Thank you for sharing your opinion
For someone such as myself who is very pro-whimsy, tumblrâs collective willingness to believe in fairies is actually quite charming. I would like to be the type of person to quickly and without question accept that fairies are real if one knocked on my door but honestly Iâm a bit of a skeptic and thatâs not how my brain works. Iâm just more of a Scully than a Mulder I guess!
I think my bias here is that I studied wildlife forensics in vet school, and as a result I dare not underestimate the determination of wildlife smugglers. Yes, it would be hard to smuggle a walrus (even a juvenile) into a private residence. That said people have similarly smuggled Nile crocodiles, lions, spotted seals, cheetahs, chimpanzees, and so so many more species. There was even a case of a gentleman who was taken to court for planning to steal a walrus from an aquarium.
I also think some folks are underestimating the athleticism of a walrus. They arenât lazy slugs that just lay on a beach all day, but rather extraordinarily powerful and intelligent animals. People saying a walrus would never make it up their stairs make me chuckle because walruses in the wild can and do climb 200 ft cliffs. A walrusâ tusks could also glance against a door in a way that resembled knocking. It is highly highly highly improbable for a walrus to be on your doorstep. But not impossible.
If I find a walrus at my door, I have a bizarre but intriguing puzzle that I can immediately start trying to solve. If I find something like the tooth fairy at my door (and am able to discern it is no hoax), I have to re-evaluate my entire understanding of reality. Of physics, and biology, and my perception of the universe around me. That would definitely shock me more than an unexpected mammal in a place it shouldnât be!
#FINALLY SOMEONE WHO GETS IT#wildlife smuggling is a real thing. fairies are not.#i am much more willing to believe an improbable scenario than literally upending my entire worldview#i genuinely dont understand the fairy side of this discourse#ive tried but it makes 0 sense to me

i'm on a complete neutral side when it comes to seamoon. i don't mind its popularity nor its fans, hell i respect the ship because you're right! there IS a lack of w|w rep out there! to me, any w|w rep means i auto support. but i still fear how some of its shippers might attack me if i say i ship sea fairy with a different female cookie (anxiety kicking in lol). and it's also bc seamoon isn't really my cup of tea for some reason?? but that doesn't mean it's lesbophobic lol bc i have like, a ton of other w|w ships from cr (and other franchises) i personally love. it's just that seamoon, like any other ship out there, ended up becoming one of those i don't really vibe with but still respect and acknowledge it exists. but honestly, of all the ships in cr, seamoon will most likely be a canon thing sooner or later. personally, respecting heavily implied w|w ships are enough for me, tho i kinda understand how some ppl would wish for more than just acknowledgement. hope this ask isn't too much of a bother for you, i just feel like putting my thoughts here! please have a nice day or night!
oo ok so ur completely valid! actually i dont personally have a problem with ppl who ship sea or moon with other female or nonbinary cookies as long as they dont shit on seamoon.
honestly? its super fucked up to attack others for that, if u dont personally like seamoon but dont ship them with men then im chill cause like not everyone has to like it even if its canon or has the best chance to be canon! the point of protecting seamoon is because as u said the lack of wlw and the fact that media keeps queerbaiting shit like seamoon were its so obvious that the characters are gay but they dont outright state it ir make them make out on screen so other ppl can pretend they arent, if u acknowledge their lesbians and ship them with othwr women then ur fine completely!! seamoon shippers who attack others based off that r being disrespectful and using seamoon to bring down others, their the reason nonshippers think we're crazy imo, now if someone has seamoon as a comfort ship and doesn't want them separated thats fine but as long as ppl respect the wlw woth ships they can do what they want, within reason of course.
the biggest issue for us is people genuinely see moon or sea as bi or straight and i dont think they understand that while YES just because they love a women canonly doesnt mean they can't be bi or pan the issue is ppl deny the queerness is even there or call it onesided, this is coming from a person who does loath how fandom forgets ppl can like all genders but we NEED to establish the wlw before the wlm in this case because there are plenty of wlm female characters in media but only a handful of canon wlw and the fact seamoon is so obvious yet ppl ignore it means we have to be pushy and put our foot down on shipping either, ESPECIALLY sea, with men.
also ur no bother at all! giving ur insight is fine i like talkign to ppl about why certain discourse sucks and seeing new opinions, at the end of the day my opinion is this.
lesbains are constantly erased or used as sex objects in media, the fact that this kids game has 2 of its most important characters as 2 women in love is important, acknowledging their love is important because its rlly quite blantent imo and NOT SEXUALIZED, shipping either with men perpetuates that clear lesbian coding doesnt matter because girls need a man ir women loving eachotheris somehow creepy, do not do this even with bi or pan hcs do not, there are OVER A HUNDRED cookies its not thathard to make characters like princess or croissant or blackberry mspec so why do u feel the need to take away the two wlw ppl who are the most close to canon?
ppl generally forget how much lesbian eraser there is out there and seeing how some of yall treat seas love for mooncalling it onesided or creepy just because ppl cant understand what pining is id say those ppl dont actually care about representation for wlw if they find ppl wanting the HEAVY coding to be respected too annoying.
now all this being said i again want to make it clear, i dont condone harrassment, and i definitely dont candone threats of any kind, seamoon fans CAN be toxic i know, but those ppl do not devaule the center point, if ur soured on the ship cause of that thats fine ship them with other nonbinary or lesbain cookies or not ship them at all ur in the clear to do that but do NOT take that as a queue to be like fuck the lesbains and ship them with men, i do not care how much fire wants moon in his pants hes bi shes not end of story.

My thoughts on the 1700 fujoshi discourse
hella long post, cuz i got a shit ton to say
Iâm...so fucking confused??? I donât support either side, nor do I hate every straight person or support ALL LGBTQA+ people because people arenât defined by their sexualities alone,, just bc someone is straight doesnât mean they are like the majority of assholes and not all lgbtqa+ people are nice people who just want to live in a world where their sexuality is accepted / homophobia doesnât exist.Â
even though i am a part of the lgbtqa+ community, i donât really know much about where the line is drawn for certain things but Iâd really like to learn about it.Â
anyways, hereâs where i saw faults on both sides:
rhov and her supporters:
â instead of accepting that what she was writing did offend people, she continued to state that she knew better than actual lgbtqa+ people who were clearly offended by her writing
â she should have tried to educate herself instead of being like a powerhouse and using the fact that she has â1700 fujoshi fansâ as a basis to support her knowledge of how gay / mlm relationships work
ââ she should have never made this argument personal, it was based strictly on how she wrote this fic (which btw, i havenât read, and it probably would make more sense for me to read it so i could make a better argument but as an asexual i prefer staying away from sexual fics) but she decided to say disrespectful things instead and hurt the admins of fairy-tail-salt. totally not mature, at all.
ââ from what i read on her blog, i believe she didnât properly write the kinks/rape and made actual rape into some sort of fetish instead of a problem and claimed it as healthy? (again, i have not read her fic so i canât make much of an argument without just assuming things). that would clearly trigger many people, and she should have stayed away from that if she didnât know how to write it well. itâs okay to not know, but whatâs not okay is to publish it and have so many people read it and misinform them of how rape should be treated or how it actually works.Â
fairy-tail-salt and others:
ââ instead of making a meme out of it or just being angry (which is completely understandable) maybe you couldâve just educated her on the whole thing? like tell her whatâs actually right and how to properly write mlm and what stereotypes to avoid bc rhov couldâve just not known and possibly wasn't doing all this on purpose, like maybe she wasn't purposely trying to mischaracterize mlm or make it into a disturbing fetish/yaoi but she just believed that it was how it worked or how she saw it? (if this sounds familiar to you, then yes, i was the one that sent that ask)
ââ you canât really expect a straight cishet woman to understand all concepts of what itâs like being gay, i mean, itâs a little impossible when sheâs straight? to understand what itâs like being gay, i mean. like she could have a general idea of what itâs like but since she isnât gay herself she could never fully understand what itâs like or what we all go through as part of the lgbtqa+ community.
ââ Â i think the way you worded things could be executed better. i know you had good intentions and were upset at how she wrote mlm, but the way you said certain things is causing a lot of concern and fear for others as seen by how some people are now afraid to write mlm.
ââ rhov may be popular, and since you are trying to stray away from that fact by claiming that it doesnât justify her actions, then you probably shouldnât have responded to her at all...but now that i look at other things you said, the fact that she made it personal was what made you get involved, right? but anyways, looking aside from that personal bit, i think that she made a point when she said there are many writers out there who donât know how to correctly write mlm and make it into yaoi or a disturbing fetish by sexualizing them. but you guys responded to rhov and rhov alone and kind of reinforced her popularity by making her the main topic of concern when there are probably tons of other writers out there who do the same as her and werenât called out. yes, rhov should have been called out for what she did, but to go this far is bad, isnât it?
now what iâm confused about.... (feel free to clarify or correct me if iâm wrong on any of these, i really want to know whatâs considered right and wrong)
ââ this whole trope thing or whatever, like when writers who donât know the true concepts of wlw or mlm write them, are people offended by the fact that some writers write one of the men as a little more feminine or one of the girls as a little more masculine just so one can top and the other bottoms or something? i mean, physically, when sexual activity is occurring, doesnât one of them have to top and the other has to bottom at some point? they could obviously switch but maybe one of them prefers to be dominant and the other submissive. i dont entirely understand how that part is offensive, but i do understand being offended by the part that one of the males has to be more feminine just so the ship could work or be valid or one of the girls has to be more masculine for it to work because that would be homophobia and trying to force heterosexual stereotypes on gay people. (although, in some cases, that would be valid because we canât just erase that sort of thing from all relationships as long as that one way of thinking doesnât define every relationship.)
ââ some people, and rhov could be one of them despite how she executed her argument + the stuff she said in response, donât know all the rules of homophobia and transphobia or where the line is drawn and other people, the real bad people, know the rules and concepts and all that and yet still abuse the terms and have blatant hate whereas some people genuinely make mistakes and dont know and need to be educated instead of having hate thrown on them?Â
ââ for us to send hate to her and others for not knowing how to write mlm is a bit hypocritical. i mean, as part of the lgbtqa+ community we receive enough hate as it is from many people, but to do the same thing back to straight people or whoever is against us is not good either, since we are stooping to their level instead of being mature and level-headed.
ââ to me, gay and straight relationships are basically the same, the only difference being gender. i mean, itâs just a relationship between two people, and as i said before, sexuality isnât the only thing that defines you as a person. one half of the relationship doesnât have to act a certain way to be accepted as ârightâ but even if some stereotypes are mixed in, it doesnât make it awful or horrible. itâs not okay to have those stereotypes define the relationship or say that those stereotypes have to be how every relationship is like, but itâs not impossible for some aspects of those stereotypes to exist in some relationships.Â
basically, my main point is, it shouldnât matter too much how a relationship is written or executed, whether itâs straight or lgbtqa+ as long as itâs written in a healthy way and doesnât state that any stereotypes used is how ALL relationships should be or how they should work. of course there are some lines drawn but overall it shouldnât be too much of a problem. we are all human, we fuck up a lot and make mistakes, and we are all unique in our own way. there shouldnât be strict rules for how things work but there are baselines and all and that is totally understandable.
i hope i made things clear in my argument, and please tell me if i am wrong about something. i am still new to the lgbtqa+ world and if thereâs anything you want to tell me, hmu in the askbox or through the messaging thing. thank you.
