I know its been years but the thing that baffles me to this very day about the whole "Raymond from animal crossing" fiasco is that you can get a fully functional bootleg AC amiibo for like less than 5 dollars on etsy. They work and look exactly the same (and arguably are better bc they're usually on a thick plastic card and thus are more durable.)

Like people were sending death threats and spending hundreds of real actual money to get this boring cat and bootleg amiibos were. right there.

#i have so many amiibo cards #i keep them in a little travel soap box #i was buying them left and right i was getting bulk order deals i preordered a sasha when he first came out #i bought all the power ranger ones for my boyfriend #i actually do have some real amiibo cards tho #i found a bunch at a bookmans YEARS ago and i was like OOP #bought em all #bc they were like a dollar each and i aint stupid #i just blindly bought them so fast that i didnt even notice that there was one dupe #but thats fine i gave it to a friend #and then actually very recently i was at a different bookmans and not only did they have a couple villager amiibos #but they had all of the special hello kitty character/furniture combo cards #bought those shits so fast #but the majority of my amiibo cards are bootleg
