"If it weren't for Uncle Wayne I'd be dead." Eddie stared up at the night sky as if the stars held the answer to every question he's ever had. "Not in that deeply tragic way you're thinking, Harrington so don't give me that look. I can feel your eyes on me."

Steve's gaze lingered for a moment longer before he looked back at the moon. "What do you mean, Eddie?"

"My old man wasn't the nicest pops around, don't get me wrong. But he wouldn't have killed me. He woulda just gotten me killed, I think. Being the get away driver with me in the car and wrecking. Pissing off the wrong person he worked with after he robbed a place. Or maybe just not wanting to get arrested and losing a stand off with the cops. I dunno man, but I've thought a lot about it and I know if Wayne weren't there for me I'd be..." His voice caught, "which is crazy to think about and I usually don't but it's been hard not to, with all that happened in March." Eddie Munson, lead guitarist of Corroded Coffin, rumored Satan worshipper, and riddled with nightmares from the horrors beneath their feet. Steve could almost see the humor in that, might giggle with Robin when they've had one too many and it's just them in his house. "Who would I be if I had stayed with my old man? What would have happened here?"

Eddie turned so he was looking up at Steve now, stars reflected in eyes dark enough to be portals. Steve could get lost in them, he wanted to. He opened his mouth to reply and Eddie sat up so quickly Steve's words caught in his throat.

"They're rhetorical questions please don't answer them." A beat of silence. "I've thought about it, the other dealers in this town, who Chrissy might have gone to if I wasn't around." Steve watched his Adams apple bob as he swallowed hard. "I fucking..."

"Eddie." Steve wanted to hold him, to reach out and pull him close, to wrap his fingers in curls that had finally grown past his shoulders again, to see if Eddie's face fit as perfectly in the crook of his neck as Nancy's used to and Robin's does now. He wanted to soothe the hardlines that appeared around Eddie's eyes when he thought too long about what happened in March.

"I'm glad Chrissy was with me." His voice broke and Steve surged forward, wrapped his arms around the man, swept him up so easily and Eddie's surprised gasp was music to his ears.

Steve wakes up panicked.

The clock on his nightstand tells him he is late to pick up the kids from Hellfire. Not a couple minutes late, a full hour and a half late.

He had laid down for a nap three hours before he had to go get the kids -who are no longer kids- from the club. He's been feeling sick for some days, so he figured rest is the best medicine.

He gets up from the bed, his hair wet, his head dizzy, and steadies himself for a few seconds before rushing down the stairs. He races to the door when he hears someone humming in the kitchen.

When he goes to investigate it, he finds Eddie. He is cooking something over the stove, making himself home.

"Finally awake, Stevie?" Eddie asks, turning his head to look up at Steve.

"I fell asleep."

"Yeah, so we figured." Eddie goes back to cooking what looks to be soup.

"Are the kids-"

"I left them at school in the dark," Eddie says sarcastically. "Obviously, I called Nancy to pick some of them up and drove the rest home myself."

"I should go apologize."

"You should go lie down," Eddie tells him, adding something to the soup. "You need rest."

"I'm okay."

"How long have you been sick, Steve?" Eddie questions. Steve looks away, finding the wall suddenly very interesting.

"After dropping the kids, I came to see you," Eddie explains. "I know where you hide your spare key so I came in, went to find you, and saw you in bed."

"I was tired."

"You were burning up!" Eddie exclaims, mixing the pot. "I put a cold towel over your head and came here to make you some soup."

"So that's why my hair was wet."

"No, that was sweat."

"Gross."

"Yeah, you should probably take a bath, I will bring you the soup when you're done."

"I can't ask you to take care of me." Eddie scoffs playfully before walking towards Steve.

"You didn't ask, sweetheart," Eddie holds Steve's face. His hands are cold against Steve's feverish face. "I like taking care of you."

"You are even making me soup."

"Munson family special," Eddie jokes. "Now go, wash that sweat off!"

Steve can't help but laugh as he climbs up the stairs. He will be okay.

They managed to save Max from Vecna at the graveyard(thank God for Kate Bush)but now Steve was displaying all the symptoms of the people who had been cursed so far.

Steve wasn't buying it. He didn't believe that Vecna would just move on like that if he couldn't have Max. And Steve knew that as soon as he admitted he'd been cursed, Max would give him her walkman since it was the only one they had on hand. He wouldn't risk Max like that. Maybe Vecna was trying to fake them out so he could snatch Max away as soon as she gave up her Walkman. Steve didn't know for sure, but he refused to take that chance. She'd been through enough-all the kids had.

If only he'd told Eddie his favorite song when he'd asked.
