7 comfort films tag
actually, 6 at most
Tagged by @writings-from-the-hart, thank you! This was a fun visit down the memory lane, I went riffling through our collection of CDs since I’m not much of a movie-watcher. It reminded me of some other movies/series I still want to get into! 1. Ratatouillle
‘Nuff said. That scene says everything I feel about this movie.
2. Mamma Mia
YOU CAN DANCE, YOU CAN JIVEEE~
Iconic ABBA songs all over. This is my mum’s favourite movie and she used to put it on and sing and dance along all over the place, and I grew up singing along. And all the scenes they shot in Greece are just so beautiful and idyllic? And mum loves the friendship between Donna (the girl’s mother) and her two best friends the most.
3. The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe (Narnia series)
I really loved The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe as a kid (I recall having a mini Witch toy from Koko Krunch that changed colour if you put it in the fridge!). Prince Caspian/Dawn Treader while exciting, just didn’t have quite the same impact. So over the years finally finishing reading the Narnia series has been a to-do thing? Especially when I can find them in the library, my first school library didn’t have the complete set. Honestly, even the feeling I get from it now is ‘safe and warm’? Aslan imprinting There’s just something about 20th c British kids going on an adventure whether in a fantasy world and/or the countryside.
4. Mr Bean’s Holiday
Honestly, anything with the bean in it makes for good watching. The real-life-actor bean, that is. Long live Rowan Atkinson.
5. Rush Hour series
Jackie Chan!!! I’d watch this with my dad at night back when I was younger, and because of that Jackie Chan just stands out to me in any movie now. These guys made me laugh a lot! Don’t know if I’d ever watch this again or this has aged well but nevertheless, it gives me that rush of nostalgia and pure fun.
6. Journey to the West (any)
But for full nostalgia factor, it’s the 1996 TV series I grew up watching. Oh boy, there’s my Sun Wukong, all the other ones look rather too feral/orange eh (or just... no. The fake hair is not working.)
Unfortunately it really looks like that’s the best gif I can find for 1996, and goodness the fandom is right he still remains the best looking monkey king out of all of them BLESS
(and going by what I’m finding in the fandom... there’s DEFINITELY a reason why I liked it so much jfc did my first ship come from this show instead I REMEMBER THE MPREG ARC IT WAS SO WILD I--)
I definitely want to rewatch it if I can find it hoohoo, it’s been so long. They don’t really show it on local TV anymore that’s for sure.
7. stick any renaissance era Disney movie here, it’s either Lilo & Stitch, Mulan, Aladdin, or The Little Mermaid. It’s Disney, man.
Tagging: @sweetchcolate @bradburymeinfire @ererifan4ever @joey-yellow-county @daisyyly @cherryoblossom @tentative-wanderer @subdee @dalandana @puzzleshipper and anyone else who’d like to have a go, feel welcome!
