Optimus and Ratchet immediately get in front of her.

Starscream and Soundwave stand up slightly in front of their leader who was just starting to stand.

“Our chief scientist, Shockwave was experimenting on the latest relic we managed to acquire from the Autobots. There was no telling what they were going to do with such a relic. Shockwave had enough time to tell us some of the basics before the blast came through.”--Starscream

Optimus nods at the new information.

“How are you guys getting back home?”--Smokescreen

“Shockwave was making a failsafe in case something like this happened. In theory we should be back in a couple of hours. But seeing as he was halfway done with it when the flash came in… a week at most.”--Soundwave

Megatron turns to Prime.

“Will you allow my mechs and I a place of refuge until then?”--Megatron

Prime thinks before agreeing.

Optimus in turn begins to introduce himself and the rest of the team.

He named Buddy last.

This certainly had gotten a reaction from the three Cons.

“This is Buddy, our archivist and technical support of the team.”--Optimus

All three mechs stare a bit at Buddy.

Soundwave kneels down and gently pats Buddy’s helm.

“It’s--it’s good to see ya kid.”--Soundwave

He stands back up, making room for Starscream to kneel.

He offers her his servo to shake.

Buddy shakes it hesitantly.

Buddy took the first step towards this Megatron.

It wasn’t the fact that he took a step backwards that surprised her the most.

It is his optics.

Buddy slowly approached the giant and held out her servo.

Slowly he grabbed her servo.

It was shaky.

Nothing like the strong death grips she had grown accustomed to.

After the exchange it was settled that the three Decepticon’s would stay until their Shockwave got them home.

It was extremely tense around the base.

Starscream, strangely, got along well with some of the bots. This just surprised them when they found this Starscream to be way more tolerable than the one they knew.

For one, he wasn’t trying to kill Megatron ever second.

Starscream was surprised to hear his counter part wanting to do that to his leader.

He would never try and do that to his Megatron!

He was also caring to others, which was another shock to the team.

Bumblebee trips on a stray cube, slightly skinning his knee.

“Oh! Here let me.”--Starscream

Starscream pulls out a mini mesh kit to fix the joint.

Confused Bee noises intensifies.

Soundwave got along best with the kids and younger Bots.

It was only natural.

There almost wasn’t a second where he wasn’t making some sort of noise, whether it be music or talking, much to Ratchet’s dismay.

It was rare to hear him go silent.

He has mixed feelings about his counterpart’s silent but deadly behavior.

Mainly because he can’t stand so much stillness, ironic being the master spy he was.

Megatron stays mostly by Prime’s side as the two would have nice talks.

He was the slowest to be integrated into the group.

He did ask about his counterpart, but he noticed that no bot would outright talk about his alternative whenever Buddy was in the room.

There were always side glances towards Buddy’s direction.

Worried glances.

One thing each of the Decepticons noticed fast was that Buddy was never left alone with any of them.

Usually, she was accompanied by a bot or two.

But whenever Megatron came, it almost doubled in numbers.

Soundwave was the one who brought it up one day as he plopped down next to her.

“So, Buddy… how’s your Megatron doing? I mean why haven’t we seen him with you?”--Soundwave

“We aren’t exactly… on talking terms Soundwave.”--Buddy

“How come?”--Soundwave

Buddy looks over at Soundwave and the other Con’s nearby.

“I think you might want to sit down for this.”--Buddy

They quickly sat down by Buddy, as some of the other bots sat down close by.

She knew why, but she continues.

She took a vent in before telling them her story from the beginning.

From the moment Megatronus found her.

From the times she remembered being in Orion Pax’s care.

From when she met Soundwave and the minicons.

The Decepticons had gone silent.

Soundwave was the first to reach out for a hug.

It felt familiar, yet different.

She buried her faceplate into his neck cables hugging tightly.

Megatron hugged tight too but minded his strength and size.

From when he found her in the alley.

From raising her with his friend Orion Pax.

From meeting Starscream and Soundwave.

From the last time she would see her uncle Orion storm out of the chamber.

From the time Nemesis Prime had arisen.

From the time she had been a shining beacon of hope amongst the soldiers.

From the time she disappeared.

From the time Soundwave and him found Prime holding her by her neckcables, struggling out of his grip.

From the pleas.

From the last ‘love you’.

From the blast of the cannon.

From holding his daughter’s offlined corpse in his servos.

From moving to Earth.

From the continuation of the war.

Buddy only hugged him tighter.

He needed it.

They both needed this more than anything.

It was at that moment the light came through.

It was time for them to leave.

The Cons saying their good-byes to everyone.

“If you ever end up in our universe, wouldn’t recommend it, feel free to ask for any of us! Maybe we can show you the base!”--Soundwave

The Cons turn to Buddy, each giving their own long hugs.

Megatron and Buddy give the longest hugs.

Megatron and Buddy give each other one last look before the three walk to the light and vanish just as fast as it came.

They both knew that the alternative couldn’t replace the other, they lost to time. But it still felt good knowing that somewhere in the universe, one was alive and well.

Your legs dangled off the edge of the couch as you take your pencil to your sketchbook. On the opposite chair, Hobie was strumming guitar, scribbling and marking his music. It was like a peaceful creative time you shared.

You take a peak up at your boyfriend before looking back down, sketching the features of his nose onto your paper. For the past hour you had been sketching him, multiple poses of him lying there, with his guitar, and him just smiling (which was a closed smirk but better than nothing). You were finishing a sketch of him messing with his guitar, drawing up his hair and piercings.

“Mm..” Hobie sighs before making that focused face he does, bringing out the crease on his forehead.

You smile and draw that out onto the sketch, enjoying how blissfully unaware Hobie seemed. You had numerous sketches of him, but he didn’t need to know.

As you stare down and take glances up, Hobie finishes with the current song he was messing with. He looks over at you, noticing how focused you seemed on your sketch. It was mesmerizing watching you work so passionately.

Quietly, he got up, sneaking over to your seat on the couch. He wraps his arms around you, peaking over your shoulder. “Whatcha workin’ on?”

You slam the book shut. “Nothing!”

“Oh? But I wanna see..” Hobie responds, reaching to grab your sketchbook.

“No no! It’s nothing!”

You shoot up to run to your shared bedroom, holding the book away from Hobie. He chases after you and shoots a web to grab the book. As much as you try to pull it back, he ultimately wins, taking the sketchbook in his hands.

“Le’s see..” He speaks, turning to the page you were working on. “Oh.”

You groan, throwing your head into a pillow. “Hobie..”

He’s quiet for a while, admiring your work. You make him look so.. incredible. All the pencil strokes bring out a different feature of him, and he’s never thought he looked this great.

"These are incred'ble, swee'heart." He says after a while, glancing up at you. “C’mon, don’ be shy. ‘s good stuff.” He assures you as he takes a seat next to you.

You snatch the book from Hobie, swatting him with it. “Ever heard of privacy?!”

“Mm.. ‘s good t’ know ‘s how ya see me.”

“Well.. it’s not even done.” You say with a sigh. Then, you get an idea. “Wait! I’ve got an idea.”

Hobie’s eyes raise. “Hmm?”

You turn back to open the page you were working on, grabbing a pencil and a red marker from the nightstand next to your bed. You look up at Hobie before looking back down, sketching something.

“Just stay still..” You request, sketching out some new features you can now notice from up close. “I wanna finish..”

Hobie chuckles, crossing a knee over his leg. “Mm.. ‘right, ‘ll be ‘ur muse.”

In turn, you give a smile, gently kissing his cheek before continuing to work on his profile. You sketch every little crease, freckle, blister he has on his face. Any scar or bruise he has from his hero ventures, you include. You start to get lost in your book as time moves on.

Your boyfriend just sits there, admiring the way you look so focused. He’s grateful you feel comfortable around him, to where you can allow yourself to indulge in your creativity. He loves how people express themselves, you especially.

When you start adding some colour, you see Hobie scoot next to you. “So talen’ed, ya know that?”

You smile gently, leaning into his shoulder. “I appreciate that, Hobie.” You respond as you continue putting in some highlights.

Once it’s done, Hobie sits back and praises your work like there’s no tomorrow. Many compliments, pet-names, and red blushing messes later, he’s pulling your leg to convince you to let him take them, hang them up.

Once you do agree, he also asks you to make him some stickers for his guitar. “Need some good stuff f’ my gui’ar. Make it flashy t’ fight facis’s.”

Once you do make them, trust, he’s going to brag to everyone he knows and is friends with who made the beautiful artwork displayed on his guitar.

The Autobot base was on edge after the defeat of Unicron. Not only did you have to come to terms with your own planet being a host for a god-like being, but you had to witness Optimus Prime be taken hostage by Megatron. Your screams and begs for him still echoing in your own mind. The feelings of hopelessness and despair as Arcee held you back from running after him weighed heavily on your heart. He had looked at your tear-filled eyes, not even trying to escape. He did not recognise his own lover but instead turned his back to you to follow Megatron. He abandoned you.

Curled up on the couch, you sobbed. The other members of the team tried to comfort you, but you ignored them. That was not the Optimus Prime you fell in love with. That was not the Optimus Prime that would greet you every morning when you wake up with a soft kiss upon your lips. It had only been a day since he was taken, but every hour feels longer without him. So, you bottled yourself up from everyone to cope while the whole team discussed possibilities of what had happened to their leader.

After your sobbing had turned to hiccups, Ratchet decided that this would be the best time to tell you their plan. And to tell you what exactly happened to Optimus. He walks over to the human area and rests a servo on the guard rail, think over what to say. He softly calls out your name.

“(Y/n), I’m not sure if you are listening, but we have reason to believe that Optimus did not recognise you because he has lost his memories,” Ratchet says, waiting for any reaction from you, “due to the sacrifice of the Matrix.”

You say nothing and only listen to his words, thoughts plaguing the back of your mind. You turn your head just slightly to show him that you are interested.

“He has reverted to his pre-prime state, Orion Pax.” Ratchets says. Your ears perk up at his words. Optimus had told you once that before he was a Prime, he was an archivist on Cyberton, working at the Iacon Hall of Records. It shocked you that Optimus Prime was not always a leader or had wanted to lead, but a quiet and nerdy Cybertronian who got mixed up in the mess of their politics.

“But I have hope that even though in his mind he is Orion,” Ratchet voice softens, “He has the spark of Optimus. And we will get him back, I promise.”

You watched with puffy eyes as Ratchet and the rest of the team go through the ground bridge, curling back into yourself to grieve. Ratchet’s words help you, but it did not help the pain that still tugged at your heart.

Night-time had fell and you had eventually fallen asleep on the couch, exhausted from crying. The base was empty, and the only sounds were your soft snores. In your sleeping state, you couldn’t hear the ground bridge portal and the clanging of pedes echoing in the base.

“This is… your base of operations?” A young Orion Pax looks around in wonder at his new surroundings, optics wide.

“Our base of operations, Orion.” Ratchet nods and places a servo on his shoulder, “We don’t expect you to remember anything yet, but this is the place on Earth that we call home, for now at least. Take your time to explore.”

Orion nods at the medic, walking around the consoles that control the ground bridge and the large computer, softly grazing a servo across the keyboards. Something that he was familiar with in this confusing time. He moves his optics over to the raised platforms and the small couch that resided there.

Orion turns to look at Ratchet, “The native lifeforms of earth, humans, are occupying this base as well?”

Ratchet glances to the couch then back to Orion, he was not sure if this was the best time to introduce him to you. But he knows that you would want to at least see that ‘Optimus’ is still alive and well, “M’yes, they can be rather… mundane at times. But they have proven themselves to be great allies to us.”

Ratchet watches as Orion moves closer to the human area, glancing around at the strange earthly artifacts and wondering what they might be used for. Orions optics then fall onto a small figure resting on the couch, they look to be in a stasis of some kind. Orion turns to Ratchet, “Who is this?”

“That is (Y/n), she’s asleep at the moment.” Ratchet looks down at the floor before turning around to return to the med bay, deciding that soon enough he will need some privacy with you, “She’s… been through a lot the last few days.”

Orion turns to look back at you, optics softening. He decides to get a closer look and peers over the guard rails to look at your face. He could not deny that you looked rather peaceful, and somehow familiar to him. Orion raises an optic ridge in thought. He had met the other humans and they were great but looking at you made him feel different in a way.

Unexpectedly, a flash of memories run through his processor. They were of you and him, spending time together, kissing, laughing together and… interfacing. A shock of electricity zaps at his spark and Orion had to stabilise himself to prevent him from falling over. His spark is humming and energon flushes to his faceplate, overcome by an urge in his spark that indicates that he needs to breed.

 Interfacing… with this human? I haven’t even met her, why do I have these impure thoughts of marking her? He thinks to himself. His processor is spinning with confusion.

Orion didn’t notice that you were stirring awake while deep in his thoughts. You yawn and stretch out on the couch, opening your eyes to find yourself face-to-face with who you thought was your love. In an instant you jump up and run over to him in excitement and desperation.

“Optimus!” You cry out, tears welling in your eyes, “I thought I’d lost you! Are you ok, baby? Did the cons hurt you? Why did you ignore me?”

Orion is brought back to reality and leans back slightly, unsure of what to say. However, he decides to be reasonable and begin with greeting you, ignoring the erotic memories of you he had moments ago, “Hello, (Y/n), is it? It is a pleasure to meet you.”

You stop in your tracks, your heart drops to your stomach at his words. In just seconds the unimaginable feeling of relief you had erased into shock. You look up into his optics with furrowed eyebrows, “What… what do you mean? It’s me, don’t you recognise your lover?”

It felt like his spark had stopped functioning. These memories were not a figment of his imagination, you really were his conjunx. He looks at the tears running down your face and feels a tug at his spark. He needs to say something.
