you grunt when you hit the ground. pain blooms through your ankle immediately, spreading through your leg and down your foot. “oh my god, are you okay?” your dancer kneels down next to you, holding a hand out to help you up. “i���m so sorry, i didn’t mean to trip you.” 

“it’s okay, i didn’t see you either.” 

you wince when you try to put weight on your right ankle. “are you okay?” 

“yeah, i just think i hurt my ankle.” 

“let me go find a medic.” you nod, limping over to lean against a wall while you wait for help. you can hear her bounding footsteps as she runs back to the studio with an emt following closely behind her. 

“can you stand on it?” he asks, helping you take your shoe and sock off. hues of red and purple have already begun spreading along the skin. the dancer you tripped over nervously hovers behind him, grimacing at the sight of your foot. 

“not really,” you wince when he presses down against the bone. “it hurts when i try to put weight on it.” 

he nods, standing up. “i’m gonna go get some ice and then i'll wrap it. tell me if you notice any intense swelling or if the pain gets worse. you'll be off of it for a few weeks.” 

“here, let me help you,” she says, supporting your weight with her own body. 

“thanks,” you whisper, letting her guide you to a nearby chair. she pushes another chair over to you, helping you lift your leg up onto it. 

“are you gonna be okay here?” 

“i’m alright, thank you so much.” she nods, lowering her head into another apologetic bow before she leaves. 

you’re left alone in the room for a few minutes before heeseung bursts through the door. “y/n,” he gasps, rushing to your side. he’s frantic, eyes wide and hair disheveled. he wraps his arms around you, pulling you into a hug. “i heard about what happened, i’m so sorry i wasn’t there.” 

“it’s okay.” you reach over to grab his hand, squeezing it. 

“does it hurt?” 

you shake your head. “it feels better with the ice.” 

“how long will you be off of it?” 

“they said it keep it elevated and put ice on it. they’re about to come back and wrap it for the next few weeks.”

heeseung leans down to press a kiss against your temple. “i’m glad you’re okay.”

you yelp as you fall, hitting the ground hard. your knee hits the ground first. pain immediately spreads through your leg. “y/n!” jay is quick to rush to your side, helping you sit up. you wince, failing to stand up. tears brim your eyes as you cling to jay. “are you okay?” he whispers. 

“i hurt my knee.” 

“can you stand?” jay helps you up as you slowly stand on your feet. you feel off-balance, pain still stinging through your leg. 

“it hurts.” you can see jay share a concerned glance with jungwon, calling a manager over. 

“we’ll get you to a hospital, okay?” her voice is quiet. she’s almost overwhelmingly sweet as she helps you into the backseat of a car before climbing into the front. 

the emergency room smells of hand sanitizer and rubbing alcohol as you wait to be seen. curtains surround your bed though they do little to provide you with any sort of privacy from the other patients. jay’s hand holds yours, fingers intertwined together. “you’ll be okay.” he whispers, pressing a kiss against your temple. “i promise.” you can tell he’s nervous by the way he squeezes your hand a little tighter than usual. 

finally, a doctor enters. she has thick black-rimmed glasses pushed high up on her nose. her shoulder-length black hair is tied back into a low ponytail. “l/n y/n?” she asks. you nod. “can you tell me what happened?” 

“i fell on my knee during a missed stunt.” 

her hands are cold as she pushes the fabric of your pants up, pressing against your now swollen knee. you wince when she presses around the area. “does it hurt when you straighten your leg?” 

“yeah. it hurts to stand on.” she hums, marking down a few notes on a clipboard. 

“i’m gonna do an x-ray just to make sure nothing is broken. it sounds like a torn medial collateral ligament.” 

“what’s the treatment for that?” jay asks. he squeezes your hand reassuringly when you nervously glance up at him. 

“we’ll put on a knee brace. you’ll be on crutches for a few weeks.” 

“thank you.” the doctor curtly nods before she leaves, closing the curtain behind her. 

jay wraps you into a hug, letting you bury your head into his chest. “it’s gonna be okay. it’s only a few weeks.” 

“i don’t want to let anyone down.” you whisper. 

he lifts your chin, making you look up into his eyes. “you could never do that. you’ll wear the brace and then you’ll get better and start performing sooner than you realize.” 

you nod, pulling him back into a hug. “thank you.” 

jay presses a kiss against your forehead. “anything for you.”

the pain in your leg is sharp. it burns - stinging each of your nerves with each movement you make. you wince, shifting your weight onto your left leg. jake’s hand ghosts against your lower back, coaxing your to lean against him instead. 

“let’s take a break. we’ll pick it up again in five?” your choreographer announces. murmurs of agreement ripple throughout the group as jake helps you to sit down next against the wall. 

“is everything okay?” he whispers. 

“yeah, just pulled a muscle.” 

“i’m sorry baby.” his hands feel warm against your skin as he moves the fabric of your pant leg out of the way, massaging the sore muscle. “take it easy for the rest of the day, okay? it’ll get even worse if you try to push yourself too hard.” 

“i will.” 

“babe,” jake opens his arms, gesturing for you to lay with him. you comply, making your way back over to him. you lean against his chest as he rubs your back. “how’s your leg? does it still hurt?” you hum, voice muffled by his hoodie. jake chuckles. “i’ll take that as a yes.” 

you pull away a little, moving to lean against his shoulder. “it still stings a little.” 

“come on,” jake shifts so you’re laying on your stomach. “let me take care of you.” you chuckle, letting him maneuver you onto the bed. 

jake leans over you so his knees are pressed against your side. his hands are gentle as he presses them against your back. they feel warm through the thin fabric of your t-shirt. “you’re so tense,” he whispers. you can almost see his furrowed eyebrows and slight frown as he slightly increases the pressure. 

you sigh, relaxing further into the bed. jake moves lower down your body, from your shoulders to your back and eventually down to your calf. slowly, the pain dissipates from your leg until the numb feeling is no longer there. 

he moves off of you, giving you room to roll onto your side. “better?” jake asks. 

you smile, pulling him into a quick kiss. “much better. thank you.” 

“i love you.” 

“i love you too.”

you gasp when you trip, tumbling off of the edge of the stage. pain shoots through your ankle when you clamber to your feet as you force yourself to stand back up. a staff member rushes to your side, quickly followed by sunghoon. 

“that was a hard fall, i want you to get checked out by a medic.” 

“but-” your manager’s concerned look is enough to make you stop resisting, instead letting sunghoon support your body weight as you wait for the emt. 

“are you okay?” sunghoon asks. you sigh, avoiding eye contact. 

“i can’t believe i fell off the fucking stage.” 

“hey,” sunghoon moves so he’s standing in front of you, lifting your chin so you’re looking at him. “don’t talk like that. you made a mistake. it’s okay.” he strokes his thumb against your cheek, wiping away a stray tear you hadn’t realized had fallen. “we’ve never practiced here before. it’s not your fault.” 

you nod, letting his words console you. your ankle is already deep shades of red when you remove your sock and shoe. despite how gentle the emt is when he presses against the bones of your ankle, pain immediately shoots through your body. you flinch, tears building in your eyes. sunghoon rubs a hand against your back. you cling to his body as the medic looks up at you. 

“it looks like a hairline fracture,” he says. “it’ll take a few months to heal. we’ll get you some ice to put on it for now and then you’ll need to get an x-ray done.” 

“thank you.” he nods sympathetically at you before leaving, taking his bag with you. sunghoon presses a kiss against your temple, letting you lean further into his touch. 

“it’ll be okay. i promise.” 

“what about the concert?” 

“don’t worry about it.” he lifts your face so you’re looking up at him. “you just focus on getting better, okay? engene will support you either way.” 

“i love you.” 

sunghoon presses another kiss against your forehead. “i love you too.”

- ive mentioned hair before but like. that just really seems like an important form of intimacy for them i think!!! braiding it, brushing it, freud snuggling into euns hair when he sleeps or vice versa..... the lil things yknow?

- i do wanna touch on the falling asleep in his hair thing bc like. i think that would absolutely make euns heart melt. kind of hard to move tho

- on a similar topic, i do remember seeing a comic of freud giving eun an actual haircut as opposed to a wild boy never-had-positive-interactions-in-his-life mess and it was SO fucking cute so to me its canon that freud gave eun his haircuts & styled it and to eun that was like the second coming of jesus christmas (i bookmarked the comic but the tweet was deleted. Q-Q)

- in the maple m dialogue eun says freud gets quiet when hes angry, which i think only applies to like genuine fury, but also. no talk me angy

- i think the fact that one of euns moves is him transforming into a biggol spirit to slash at stuff is HIGHLY underutilized in fandom sphere... freud sees it for the first time and loses his fuckin mind

- i think they kind of represent different things to each other? like ive prolly mentioned i think freud is a source of stability for eun (not the least of which is cuz house), but i do think eun is a kind of freedom for freud. hes rather one-track minded- judging from his introspection in the journal event, he tended to miss the forest for the trees, getting too caught up in doing and forgetting why hes doing it. i can see fighting bm becoming an all-consuming thing in his life, and struggling to imagine a life outside of it, cuz hes already come this far. being w eun- considering how eun is- would prove as a reminder that he'll have a life after the battle, and no matter what he chooses to do, there will be people who back him up on the decision

- and on a similar topic freud is... probably repressed to the point of not understanding what romantic feelings feel like. he knows the signs of it on other ppl but hes like "hm i feel strangely anxious and warm and my heart is beating very fast... am i having heat stroke" (half joke, he would know, but still too repressed to say anything, i think. he just offers to house eun and stay with him through the good and bad times)

- hes a warm person, and its genuine, but i think often it may be kind of impersonal- more of a politeness thing. so being able to connect with eun and the other heroes is something very special to him, and hes very special to them!!!

- theres a lot of parallels that need to be explored. the moon and mr left a hole open in the roof so he could stare at the moon. the ocean and the wind. the dragon and the... fox? deer? guy? i want so desperately to make a color comparison but their main colors are red and either black or purple so its. not the best of comparisons.

- THE FUCKING ROOF THING I DIDNT EVEN THINK OF THAT DID YOU KNOW. Your boyfriend is a very proud man. Although Bakugo did have his fair share of insecurities, they all seemed to be drowned out by how load he boasted about what he was confident about. His body was just one of the many things to add to that list.

Bakugo worked hard to have his current looks, intense workouts, and strict diets to achieve what he deemed perfection. Besides clothes, one of the first things he brought when you two moved into your shared apartment was workout gear, claiming he could not function without it. This dedication resulted in a mouthwatering physic, big broad shoulders, defined strong arms, toned abs, thick muscular thighs, attractive from all standards making you feel like an especially lucky gal that you get to have a front-row seat to Bakugo Katsuki's good looks.

♡ When you two cuddle, your favorite thing to do is squish his relaxed muscles. Early on in the relationship, it would just be his arms, squeezing and slapping the soft flesh and giggling when he would flex it to get you to stop messing with him.

"Look at you, all obsessive over me, tch.."

♡ You often lay with your head on his chest, smothering yourself in his pecs which are so pillowy and soft when he's not flexing them. Sometimes you even playfully bite them or mess with his nipples to which he will try to swat you away although he 100% is blushing and trying to hide how much you amuse him. ♡ Whenever you are tired or in pain from an uncomfortable outfit choice Bakugo always picks you up without fail. He'll watch you struggle for a bit, laughing when you stumble before he wraps his strong arms around your legs and holds you so you don't go tripping and get a mouth full of dirt. It never fails to amaze you how easily he picks you up.

"Here, gimme your heels, I'll carry you. I told you not to wear those shitty shoes, babe, I knew this would happen. Tch, so stubborn."

♡ It's always a sight to watch Bakugo cook, not only is he a master at it, but he often cooks with his shirt off when he's in the comfort of his own home. When this happens, you simply sit at the island counter behind him, getting a perfect view of his broad back flexing as he's wearing nothing but some sweatpants and an apron.

"Huh? Stop staring, dumbass, your fucking drooling. I slaved away to make you this meal so you better eat it, don't forget to compliment the master chef.''

♡  He always makes sure to pull out a stool for you to sit on while he works out, knowing you enjoy the view of him exercising. Bakugo is quite different when he's in the zone, face relaxed with only a slight twitch of his eyebrow, eyes no longer glaring and instead determined, mouth agape as he pants and on occasion smirks when he catches a glance at your expression. His muscles look so good, curves and ridges moving constantly as he pulls himself over the bar, handling his full body weight with ease. His skin is smooth, littered with battle scars which you took the time to admire every day.  Damn, you are so in love with this man.

"Take a picture, pretty, it will last longer."

♡ When Bakugo hugs you, to tease you he sometimes wraps his arms tightly against your back, laughing as you struggle to free yourself but he's just too damn strong, no matter what tricks you have up your sleeve you can never beat your boyfriend at this frustrating game he plays.

"Pfft, look at you, what's the matter, huh? I'm just too strong for you?"

♡ He often teases you about your attraction to him, smirking and wiping the sweat off his forehead with the bottom of his shirt just to give you a peek at his abdomen and chest, a sight which you enjoy thoroughly.

"And you call me a pervert. What? No, I didn't do it on purpose, in your fucking dreams."

♡ When you compliment his body or his strength best believe he will hold it against you, constantly teasing you about how good he looks to you or how perfect he is for you. He loves it when he receives any type of praise from you, you are always so genuine it makes him all giddy and proud that he worked so hard. Yes, being physically strong matters a lot in the hero world,  but he would be lying if he said he doesn't think about you whenever he creates a workout plan.

"Of course, you think I'm strong, baby, I mean who else would manhandle you in bed if it wasn't for thee Bakugo Katsuki."

♡ All in all, you definitely were a fan of his muscles and there were many sweet moments in the day to prove that.

I don’t know how based my opinions really are but I’ll share some for you. My opinions are based off my experiences as a kid when I watched it so I’m kinda biased to certain things. I’m currently doing a rewatch of 2012 so some of these might change for me later. Some of them are opinions and others are based off my own headcannons. I’ll make two lists.

My opinions

None of the brothers are abusive to eachother I will die on this hill.

Seriously tho Mikey’s older bros like him they just get annoyed sometimes, it’s not even just Mikey every bro got annoyed with eachother at some point.

The show sometimes has a ‘ew feelings’ vibe when emotional development could’ve fixed some of the problems in the show

Splinter tried his best, he messed up but I don’t think he was abusive to the turtles. But overall he dealt with the cards he got the best he can despite losing a child and then gaining 4 more on accident.

The pressure put on Leo to be a leader and eventual caretaker for his family isolated him from his brothers and detrimentally affected him as a teen.

Watching him talk to a hologram of his only adult figure while his 3 same aged bros were outside broke me dude. Probably an older sibling thing but going to people you’ve been taught to look after for your emotional grief is almost impossible tbh

Raph and Donnie in true middle sibling fashion get sidelined when it comes to development sometimes.

Raph obviously struggles with feeling misunderstood and feels isolated, it causes him to lash out. His position as the team defender naturally makes him more inclined to value his bros over himself and it took a toll on his self worth and identity. Slash and Destroy kinda hurts man.

Leo got saddled with eldest daughter syndrome and ascended from big bro to mom. He’s jealous of Karai because she wasn’t shouldered with the responsibility he has but he also wouldn’t trade it for anything either.

Setting the romance arc aside, Karai’s a fun character to watch. Sometimes I’m like “Go girl! Kill them!”

Idk why people don’t love 2012 Casey more, he’s one of the only charming teenage troublemakers I’ve seen written well. Dudes hilarious

2012 April is not that bad, I was fine with the weird admiration triangle thing she Casey and Donnie had. Girl really loved the turtles and Splinter even without the romance subplot.

Leo killing Shredder was justified, it was an act of vengeance and revenge.

Raph, Donnie, and Mikey could’ve also been good leaders but they trust Leo to keep them safe more than the others.

Mikey’s high adaptive ability is overlooked but is a really good trait for a martial artist. Treating Mikey as a defenseless little kid makes little to no sense when he is the most adaptable physically and emotionally and the most intuitive bro. Mikey could take all of his bros if he needed to imo

Donnie’s sass has a body count

I think people forget that the bros are the same age, it’s such a big deal that they’re technically the same age. Like with Rise, we all know Raph’s the oldest and he acts and is treated as the oldest but in 2012 it feels much more like Leo was chosen to be the oldest. Splinter treats Leo as the oldest but the turtles see Leo as the same age and equal to them. It’s so uniquely jarring to have Splinter set Leo aside and tell him he has this responsibility and he has to be a parental figure to people who are the same age as him. And then having his brothers and teammates treat him like he’s a kid like them and openly challenge the principles hammered into him by his dad is too relatable to me lol. Like the power imbalance exists but at the same time it doesn’t, I have so many thoughts about Leo send help

The “rong” scene is possibly one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen.

Leo’s leg should’ve been a reoccurring thing, when a joint is dislocated it’s very easy to dislocate it again. One of my sibs dislocated their shoulder fighting, dislocated it again on accident and will need surgery someday to fully repair it.

I enjoyed the farmhouse arc and how it gave the characters more internal conflict and interpersonal conflict. Their dynamics shined in some of those episodes

If Leo wasn’t the leader he’d be the inside man and team medic.

The team is split as such: Leo-leader and strategist, Raph-brawler and defender, Donnie-tech specialist and medic, Mikey- wildcard and team morale maintainer

My headcannons that make the series better for only me

Leo and Raph are the twins ever

Mikey’s actually the most naturally talented martial artist but is too busy having fun to train seriously.

Donatello’s mutagen medicine was faulty because he wasn’t the team medic and never made something like medicine before. Leo was the medic and since Donatello was able to learn med procedures fast and knows their biology he opted to be the temp medic. He’s really well suited to it too despite the pressure and anxiety. He became the official team medic after the farmhouse arc.

Splinter didn’t want his sons to get too attached to him because turtles obviously out live rats by a wide margin and he knew he would only be in a small fraction of their lives. That’s a big reason why he was distant from them.

The other reason being losing Karai and thinking she was dead for 15 years.

Raph and Mikey are smart and reasonable like Leo and Donnie but like annoying their bros with chaos.

Donnie’s not actually a caffeine addict, the anxiety just powers him through anything.

Someone finally sat Leo down and made him understand that the team dynamic in Star Trek is what led to success on the show. Not just the captain.

Getting badly injured by Shredder ramped Leo’s mom protective instinct and self sacrifice to a solid 13. Going through the kind of pain your siblings could’ve went through does things to a sibling. Unfortunately for him, getting hurt so bad ramped up his siblings’ protective antics and now he has to deal with his own antics happening to him.

Donatello could build super villain weaponry but stopped when Mikey kept referring to his rocket launcher as the turtle-gun.

Donnie will definitely develop resentment to splinter later in life. Not because he hates Splinter but because Donatello is one of the more observant and intelligent turtles. When he gets more mature he’s going to realize that things were messed up far more than they ever needed to be.

Raph had a little mob of birds, rats, and cats follow him around in the city for food and pets.

Raph paints as one of his anger management techniques but had to stop when Mikey kept taking his paints.

If he had more confidence in himself Raph would make a decent leader

Leo’s strong moral code is what gave him the ability to kill shredder, earlier in the series he’s very against killing henchmen. Completely shutting it down. But after Shredder had betrayed Splinter, killed his mom, separated his sister from them and abused her, killed Splinter, almost killed his bros and himself multiple times and tried to destroy his home over and over again. Leo finally killed him. He made that choice after all he went through because he had to or it would never end. Of course the other kills aren’t as relevant but shredders kill is so important to the story and the characters. imo of course

Soft Felix Escellun Headcannons

- when he’s overworking himself again and it’s getting really late try to get him into bed to sleep

- even if it doesn’t really get him into bed he will appreciate the sentiment as long as before you leave you give him his mandatory good night kith

- scratch him affectionately at the nape of him neck, it will make him melt 

- probably have gone shopping / window shopping for earrings 

- loves it when you take the time to pain this nails or do his make up 

- you touching his face softly and using make up brushes on his face calms him down. 

- !!! get those bunny headbands skincare things !!! he will wear it

- will never show it to anyone else other than you but he keeps the damn thing clean no matter what.

- when y’all go on walks through the meadows and the forest this man will make you a flower crown from all the flowers you see and think are really pretty. 

- he wakes up first and when he does he spends a good 15 minutes looking at your sleeping form and playing with your hair / stroking you cheek until he does get out of bed. 

- would most definitely say he hates it when you play with his hair but we know better 

- tease him <3 it makes him go all pink and he stutters a bit and !!!! he’s so cute

- let him vent; he hasn’t anyone to whom he can really just spill absolutely everything to

- he will probably just rant about his childhood ( how his father treated him and how the divorce really hurt him, the starsworn , the ordeal with Rime, and his relationships with other people, how he wants to find a way to send you home but doesn’t really want you to leave and go back to your realm etc.)

- fingerless gloves are probably something he’s into ; doesn’t find them practical but he still gets to show off his nails

Ok, so I keep seeing your posts and have had more Zutara thoughts because of them (thank you for that, btw 😊) so I was curious if you have read any fics or like the Mom Friend!Katara and Dad Friend!Zuko trope? It’s one of my personal faves.

Some common things I’ve seen with this are:

Zuko noticing Katara does a lot of the work while staying at the Western Air Temple and stepping up to help, but Katara is rightfully wary of him at that point and gets frustrated for varying reasons

Katara getting sick from constantly doing everything for so long and Zuko helping take care of her and the Gaang while she’s down for the count (usually happens after TSR so they’re slightly awkward friends at this point)

Katara and Zuko late night conversations where Katara isn’t just being Zuko’s therapist, or Zuko isn’t just being Katara’s therapist, but they’re giving each other advice and listening to each other in equal measure overall (even if some nights one is feeling more down than the other and they focus on that for just that night)

Katara and Zuko getting some solid cooking together/doing chores together/bending together content

Katara and Zuko getting teased by the Gaang bc they’ve started to call them Mum and Dad when they’re being extra Momtara and Dadko (you know what I mean lol)

Katara and Zuko working to comfort anyone else in the Gaang over relationship problems (usually Sukka stuff here with misinterpreting stuff and overthinking and all that), childhood issues (Toph and her stuff with her parents), not feeling good enough (Aang, the sweet boi son who is so nervous abt all the pressure on his shoulders), or just war trauma stuff (nightmares and cuddles from Momtara and Dadko - is best with Toph imo)

Toph accidentally calling them Mum or Dad while super tired is the wholesome stuff thing

Hello! Thank you so much for the ask, and I'm glad you are enjoying the HC's. We all deserve to have Zutara live in our minds rent free haha!

I actually don't think I've read a specific fic with that particular trope, sadly. I'm kind of new when it comes to reading Zutara fics and haven't spent too much time exploring ao3 (There's so much I was shook the first time I glanced at it!). I've seen a few fan art comics with this referenced, that's all though. But, I am totally on board with this headcanon and honestly think it's super accurate. It probably should be explored more!

Both Katara and Zuko seem pretty selfless when it comes to their friends and family, so it would make sense to me that they take care of the others first, either individually or together. And then in turn, noticing when the other is struggling and offering support. It's probably an interesting story to see how they navigate the rough waters, because Katara is probably somewhat skeptical of Zuko still, and Zuko just isn't sure how to handle the situation. They're also two of the most mature members of the Gaang, so it makes sense that they take it upon themselves to take care of the group. (Also the cuddle sessions? Talk about uwu).

If I were to add to this list, I think they would often scold the group if they were only using a single braincell between them all.

Zuko probably stays up the latest in the group to watch for any trouble. Sometimes he notices Katara or another member of the Gaang shivering, so he'll give them his blanket.

I can see them when they're alone complaining to each other about the group's shenanigans and finding comfort in being able to relate to each other.

Katara would scold the group for giving Appa too many treats. But then Zuko sneaks one more apple to the sky bison :)

This might not fit the HC, but maybe if Zuko needs to tell Katara something and he's afraid of her reaction (maybe it's bad news and they're all already stressed), he'll practice his speech on a badgerfrog.

Katara and Zuko definitely spar a ton together and they learn each others moves and tendencies well. That's why they're so in sync during their practice battle.

Hi anon! I’m sorry you’re dealing with that /: I also live in the US (Arizona) and truly. Getting it feels like a miracle almost???

I’m getting real honest up in here so if you don’t wanna read about my ✨uterus problems✨ there will be a tldr at the end under all my rambling under the cut.

So I’ve been struggling with my uterus and in turn my periods since I started having them. Like months of no bleeding, then months where I wouldn’t stop bleeding. Birth control also only made it worse somehow? And I’ve tried different brands of pills, the depo shot, the birth control patch, etc.

mind you I’m happily in a relationship with a cis woman so I was not doing this for contraceptive measures — I was doing this 1000% to get relief from my garbage uterus. Anywho

Last year I got an IUD, which my doctors thought would help, but I still had painful, aggressive periods. During this time I got diagnosed with PMDD, this was incredibly helpful for my getting the approval for my hysterectomy.

Now bc of all of this my doctors were like hey, maybe you have endometriosis? And I was like huh. Wild. Maybe. And unfortunately, the only real diagnosis you can get for endometriosis comes after explorative surgery. It’s very much a thing where you have to suggest to your doctor that you think you could have it and then you talk about symptoms and your doctor shrugs and they go “probably” and you move on.

After all of this and a lot of shitty doctors who didn’t give a shit about me, I was recommended an obgyn by a friend who had found a list of doctors who will help you get a tubal ligation without harassing you about your age or marital status (here).

My doctor, thankfully, after our first meeting immediately recommended a hysterectomy. She affirmed that no one should ever have to suffer with that just because I’m under thirty and don’t have kids. The fact that I’m queer and don’t want to birth my own children (if I ever have them) shouldn’t change the fact that I was being failed by the medical system.

My first appointment with my doctor was September 30th, and I’m getting my hysterectomy on November 16th, so the turn around on it was impressive honestly lmao (that’s also not factoring in somehow my body managed to push out my iud between my first appointment and getting my ultrasound literally 3 days later)

Even after all of this, I still had to wait the longest for insurance approval. And I had to tell my doctors repeatedly what I’d done up until now to just try and live with my period.

TLDR; I struggled for a long time, but having and keeping documentation of what you’ve attempted to do and what didn’t work for you is key to getting it approved, both by your doctor and by insurance. If your doctor isn’t listening to you, try to find a new one. Even in red states, there are resources and people who will help you, even if it’s just to point you in the right direction 🖤

Tendou:

Tendou is your guy when it comes to dealing with selective mutism

he’s already so used to building a strong relationship with Ushijima, someone who doesn’t speak that often, that it doesn’t feel much different with you

he’s bold, he’s loud, he’s distracting - it’s the perfect combination to take the pressure of you

when he first met you at school and noticed that he had never once heard you speak, he thought you were just a shy, quiet one so he never really considered selective mutism

but as you two started getting closer and creating your relationship, he saw a whole new side of you that loved to chat, joke and sing with him

when you told him about your mutism, his reply was simply, “Ok cool!” and went on with his day - it doesn’t matter to him in the slightest

he does though, of course, ask you a lot of questions when the two of you are alone, cuddled up in his bed where you felt the safest to speak, about how it affects you, what situations/people/places trigger it and what he can do to help you

he WILL learn sign language with/for you if you want to or do use it, you never have to feel like you are burdening him with learning this - “it’s just like volleyball signals, right baby?” he says with the biggest grin on his face

if not full sign language, the two of you do develop non-verbal signs or cues so that, in times where you cannot speak, you can still communicate with him

uses a lot of stimulus fading - he knows it can be so hard for you to meet people and make friends, so slowly one-by-one, he introduces his teammates to you, first taking control of the conversation, then slowly pulling back as you get better and more comfortable at joining in

he starts of with Ushijima, as he feels he’s the least overwhelming, and makes sure the two of you meet in one of your safe spaces (probably his bedroom)

he does his best to distract the teacher from you whenever they want someone to answer a question in class or read out a passage

struggle with eye contact? no problem for him! he knows you’re listening and taking note of what he’s saying

if you’re someone who gets clingier in situations where you cannot speak then he relishes in the feeling of having you clutching onto his arm or hand - he knows you do it because you’re anxious but he just loves feeling your touch

if people make fun of you about it, or ask him about you, he makes a joke as though he has no idea what they’re talking about, “huh? my Y/N? too quiet? maybe you’re just hard of hearing?”

he will happily take over in social situations if you cannot do it yourself, whether that’s ordering for the two of you, or answering questions for you

he never wants you to feel like he’s just taking over though, he will always ask if you are up to speaking in different places or situations - he wants to hear you voice and give you situations where you can use it

he’s so so proud of you if you, eventually, speak in a situation you might not have done so before, he doesn’t expect sentences from you, but even if its just a quiet ‘yes’ or ‘no’ if he asks you a question

he can manage mood swings and any temper very well - he learns quickly what he needs to do and say in these moments and brings you to a safe space to let you relax for a while, he’s absolutely fine with having you stay quiet for a while after being in an anxious state

he’s amazing at reading you, so even if you cannot use non-verbal communication well during periods of mutism, he still learns how to tell what you are feeling or thinking

Sugawara:

as soon as you tell Sugawara about your selective mutism, he is instantly looking it up and finding out all about it

while Tendou takes a more lax approach to helping you, Sugawara is a lot more serious and structured

he will sit down with you in a safe space and ask you to let him know what he can do to help you, when the mutism is present and why, and of anything he should know

he has lists of your safe spaces and people so that he can refer to them if needed

he works on making a particular date-spot a safe space for you, maybe a certain cafe you two enjoy where he will slowly break down your fear in the place and encourage small bits of communication with you

he does his best to slowly integrate verbal communication into your relationship, such as sending you voice memos rather than texts or videos of him talking so you can get used to his communication style

he’ll keep an eye on you often in public places, especially in class, to know if you need anything, need to go to the bathroom, how you are feeling, in case you cannot bring it up yourself - the last thing he wants is for you to get ill because you were not able to express an issue

Sugawara is able to come up with a few signals with you for basic communication in case you need to ask or say something when you cannot speak - he wants to make sure that, even if it’s not verbal, that you have a voice somehow

he does his best to learn how different places or people affect you and always keeps in mind each different situation’s severity for you - he will make sure the two of you avoid areas where you cannot cope well at all to the point of struggling to move or use non-verbal communication

it takes him a little while to learn your ways of non-verbal communication - at first it’s a lot of guessing until he gets it right, but he gets there eventually with you help

he never gets frustrated with you, he is there to help and guide you and has no problem taking the lead

he’s the most likely to ask if you’ve considered therapy to help with your mutism

it’s not that it bothers him in the slightest, but he knows it is usually caused or brought on by extreme anxiety or other disorders, and he wants to make sure you are happy over anything else

he praises you when you communicate, but he never treats you any differently or acts surprised - he tells you that you’ve done well and that he’s proud but he does his best not to make a big deal out of it

Kuroo:

Like Tendou, he’s quite familiar with people who don’t talk much

while Kenma does speak more freely than you, Kuroo is aware and deals well with his anxieties, and can use this knowledge with you too

he knows well that you don’t talk sometimes because you can’t, or because you are too afraid, rather than because you just don’t want to, so he will never pressure you into talking

Kuroo is the best at stimulus fading - he will slowly acclimatise you to different people or situations by taking full control, then giving you little prompts to join in until he can step back and let you communicate without the need for them

he’s quite good at reading your non-verbal communication, even if its quite different from others and learns quickly what certain movements or signals mean

he likes to get you more prepared for talking by using familiarity techniques, such as reading a book aloud to you and, every now and then, asking you to read a line or a couple words back to him, or asking you to tell him about your interests since he knows they’re safer topics for you

quiet time between the two of you is no problem for him - he enjoys being in silence with you so, even if you are fully comfortable talking with him when its just the two of you, he knows you might need some time where you don’t talk if you’ve had a particularly anxious day

he likes to play games with you to try and strengthen your non-verbal communication without the need for you to talk - things like charrades or guessing games where you can act things out if you feel comfortable enough to do so

he’s a smart guy, so if you’re struggling with your school work but cannot ask the teacher for help, he is prepped with notes and study sessions together

also, if you have a school project that requires you to present in some way, he is very good at coming up with alternative ways of you being about to show your work with limited talking

he thinks therapy would be a good idea for you to look into, but he won’t bring it up often - it’s your choice how you want to battle this and he will be with you every step of the way no matter what

he understands it can be very frustrating for you so he takes a lot of time out with you to help you destress and manage your emotions, this includes writing out how you are feeling to try and make sense of them and making sure you are taking care of yourself

he tries his best to make light of the situation as he doesn’t want you to feel weird or out of place

this includes a lot of teasing Kenma about how he’s ‘even quieter than you’ when you’re doing particularly well at your communication

facing fears is a really big thing for him to do with you - he understands that you often may think ‘if I don’t do this thing/go to this place, I won’t have to speak’, so he always reminds you he will be by your side in case you need to rely on him

(Can be headcannon)     this isn't a "least fav" so much as "it makes me sad" but if either of them showed any sign of not being interested anymore the other is more likely to give up then push anything. sort of like "it was bound to happen, so i'll enjoy now until they drop me" or EVEN WORSE they think the other would be better off without them and pushes them away. so yeah the fact i can see one of these happening makes me sad.

If they aren’t a canon pairing, how would you get them together?     they give off "everyone knows we're dating but us" energy but at the same time i feel like they'd acknowledge there's something and just not define it bc a) they don't need to (misumi) or b) they're too nervous to (kazu). in other words i think one day they are holding hands and misumi says "kazu? is this dating?" and kazu holds his breath before asking "do you want it to be?"

Which character of your pairing would be the one to break up with the other? Why?     OOOOOH BOY well. i think it could be either of them. i don't think they'd break up for lack of love but too much love and wanting the other to be happy and thinking that the only way to give them that is to let them go. so i guess the question is which of them would be more likely to be selfish and hold on. thinking this way, i think misumi would be more likely to break-up, bc kazu has lots of friends who are better than him!! and misumi is more ready to leave if he thinks he needs to than kazu is. now im sad.

Are they relatable as characters or as a pairing?     THE NUMBER OF TIMES I'VE BEEN CALLED KAZU KIN... in all seriousness kazu's struggles with speaking out and (shinobi spoilers) his uncertainty over his future hit real close to home... while i don't relate as much as misumi, his struggles always manage to tear my heart into pieces... ((oversharing alert) i guess what really separates me from misumi is his struggle with his desire to connect with family who has treated him poorly... whereas im more "lol fuck you") tldr i relate to kazu slightly more LOL

On an estimate, how many posts have you made about them?    as of september 28th 2020 i make up 11/78 fics on ao3 in the romantic misukazu tag and 2/12 in the platonic one. i may have brainrot.

What made you decide to ship them?     TBH I FINISHED THE MAIN STORY AND WENT "OH MY GOD... THAT'S MY SHIP" but now that i'm here i continue to ship them because they have the potential to bring out both the best and the worst in each other and i'm all about that

Favorite genre for them? (Angst, fluff, etc.)     angst. i just. angst hurt/comfort all the way. im so sorry babies.

lol you thought there would just be 21 ANYWAY EXTRA 1: how do they spend breaks/vacation?    they'd travel a lot when they're older!! kazunari loves to travel and misumi would follow kazunari anywhere (also, new triangles!!) so they go somewhere new whenever they have the time. however i think eventually one or both of their future careers will take them anywhere and everywhere anyway, so their "ideal vacation" might turn into an evening in, cuddling and catching up (as if they didn't already send play-by-play updates over the phone of whatever they did during the day)

EXTRA 2: first date?     i don't they ever have an explicit first date, but if asked they'll cite the time they had a picnic in the park turned triangle hunt turned accidental dip in the duck pond. at least, kazunari will. misumi just tilts his head and wonders what you mean.

EXTRA 3: gifts?     IM FEELING REALLY CHEESY SO I'M MAKING THIS ABOUT ANNIVERSARY GIFTS they both end up getting each other jewelry (although kazu was really really nervous bc he wasn't sure if misumi would wear it). kazu gets misumi a bracelet (with triangles, of course although misumi only wears it sometimes because he doesn't want to lose it) and misumi gets kazu a pair of triangle earrings "so we can match!" and kazunari combusts at the implications

EXTRA 4: sharing clothes     THEY'RE ACTUALLY AROUND THE SAME SIZE (and tend to wear baggier stuff barring kazu's skinny jeans)... but they have completely different Styles so it's still really obvious when steal each other's stuff ahdjajdkaf. as cute as kazu would look in sumi's sweatshirt i think the much more likely scenario is kazu wrapping misumi in his jackets because this boy nEVER BRINGS HIS ANYWHERE anyway just. accidental shared wardrobe misukazu.

EXTRA 5: lake house au    consider: kazunari living in a house on the shore of a lake for a summer for Art Purposes (and a little bit for Dealing With Life purposes but he's not gonna admit that) and meets his lake neighbor misumi who kazu thinks might be a ghost or spirit for a while but he actually just lives further down the lake and misumi unknowingly helps kazu with his Life Issues and maybe they fall in love
