sequential art where you have both a finished product and you keep developing a story!! art where you combine writing AND drawing!! huge collaborative things and people by themselves putting in so much work to show you a story!! like a television show where characters can develop and themes can continue but it's a DRAWING. you drew that!! fucking lettering it takes forever and i hate it. heck yeah i'd love to hear you talk about comics!!

GOD LETTERING I FEEL YOU SO MUCH ON THAT. lettering sucks so muchhhh. i used to have a font that i made out of my handwriting that i would use but i think i lost it when i upgraded computers and it sucked anyway bc i felt like it didnt have any. emotion to it anymore.

i need to go back to my old comic studies notes because the difference between using writing as in literal words to tell your story along side images versus using just images to convey a story. the breaking of the fourth wall. the breaking of the gutter. the absence of a gutter to play with time and space within your scene. words as both diegetic and non diegetic elements that the characters in the scene can interact with. page layout and book layout is soo fun to consider playing with and its why i kind of hate infinite scrolling comics sites like webtoon. because it makes everything run together and i like the way the breakup of panels and boxes is like the way punctuation functions in prose. it creates a flow of how the reader experiences the story. also i love physical copies of comics. i just got in the mail prokaryote season by leo fox and the way everything is laid out is soo beautiful and evocative and its what got me in this comic loving mood. love indie and self published comic artists .also just love everything by tillie walden i own three of her books lol. ive also been reading tiger, tiger, kill six billion demons (allison ruth and buffy should bond over being highly traumatized bisexuals thrust into destinies much larger and dangerous than they were ever expecting), and devils candy, as well as witch hat atelier (love the way kamome shirahama adds detail to everything just beautiful illustrations)
