my little project just now has been to approximate a smart speaker by plugging my old pixel 4a into a clock radio from 2011 and remote controlling the music using my normal phone via my spotify account uhhh total additional cost $11 cuz i did buy a new usb c charger for the 4a but other than that no additional costs. good project if u want the semi autonomous music playback of a smart speaker but resent that they r functionally wiretaps and also it reduces ewaste 👍

#i factory reset the phone and it has 128gb storage so hypothetically this could be done fully w downloaded music not spotify #idk if it could b remote controlled in the same way but there r always playlists and also just picking up the phone #i want to transition to using saved mp3s or flacs but i need to look into how i could remote control it #for getting th music on there in the first place i think there is a soulseek/nicotine client for android #but if i can just have the phone offline that wld be preferable cuz i dont think it's getting security updates anymore #i was looking around for mp3 players before this and ones w adequate storage for .flacs r difficult to find + u dont know #if they even support the file type #& then i was like um. phone
