Pillow Fight Crush x Reader Fluff
Wrote this for my bestfriend! @myrandom-fandomlife This is my first ever fanfic, so ya know don't judge too hard. I didn't proof read too much and I'm bad at honestly everything about writting but hope you like it!!!
♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
It was the last day of your sophomore year and you were the most excited you've been in a long time. Tomorrow you were having a party and there were going to be a lot of people there. One of which may or may not be your crush, C/N. You've liked him for the longest time but you never thought it would work out. He just doesn't see you that way but oh well at least you can keep him in your life as a friend.
The second the last bell rang everyone ran into the hall way. You saw your friends and ran over to hug them. You started to talk and a few of them started to cry. You felt someone tap you on the shoulder. You were so excited that when you spent around so fast you became dizzy.
"Woah!" You felt hands on your shoulders helping to steady you. "Don't fall!" Your vision cleared and you quickly realized that it was C/N. You felt a little embarrassed but you laughed along with him anyway.
"Hey, C/N! Sorry I'm just happy it's the last day but I won't see most of my friends over the summer so that's kinda sad but at least I'll see them next year." You shrugged not really minding. This year you had been so busy. You and your bestfriend were the football managers at your school and you both were cheerleaders too so you two were constantly washing the dirty jerseys, picking sweaty boys up in your cars to drive them to and from practice, all while going to the games and cheering for your team, going to cheer camps, practicing after school and going to work after all that. And when football was over you were on the volleyball team going to camps, practicing, and even going being in marching band. To sum it up you were tired!
"Well you'll see us all tomorrow!" He said smiling. God this boy was gorgeous. Everytime he was close you could only think about what it would be like to walk the hallways holding his hand. Knowing that he would be yours and only yours. You hurried to push those thoughts out of your mind hoping that you haden't been staring long. Realizing what he had said you replied, "You're coming?!"
"Yes of course I'm coming. I wouldn't ever miss it. I'll see you then, bye!" He leaned in and gave you a quick hug then ran off and started to walk by his friends. You watched him look back at you as he turned the corner. You guys smiled and waved at eachother goodbye - or at least until tomorrow.
That night you did everything. You shaved, exfoliated, put on face masks, lathered your entire body in lotion, and painted your nails. You looked amazing, felt like a baby, and your legs were so shiny you could see your reflection in them. You went to sleep at around 11. The party started at 1 tomorrow but you decided to wake up at 10. 11 hours of sleep was enough.
When you woke up you immediately got ready. You wore a pair of white denim shorts a pink crop top and white Van's. Pretty basic but it was cute.
People started to show up very fast. At about 1:30 everybody was there but you hadn't seen C/N yet and you started to wonder whether or not he was coming.
You went over to some of your friends and started to talk to them not as excited as before when all the sudden ...."Y/N!" Hands came up to your shoulders and shook you.
"OH MY GOD!" You basically died right there you got so scared. Well at least you knew C/N was here. When you turned around you out your head in your hand and started laughing, "Jesus, you scared me!" You took a deep breath and looked up while being pulled into a hug. "I almost thought you weren't coming."
You pulled away and crossed your arms. He got a tan scince yesterday and boy did he look good. He was basically a greek god in your eyes.
"What?! No, I told you yesterday that I was coming. I got held up in traffic. Ya know you live quite far away from me." He added in a 'matter of fact' tone.
About 30 minutes went by and the party had moved outside. Most people were playing some ninja game but a few of us were sitting in the shade having fun talking to one another.
It was about 97°F outside. So in other words freakin' hot. "Hey do you want to go inside because it's way too hot out here." You looked over covering your face as the sun had moved since you sat down and was now in your eyes. C/N looked over, "Yeah, I'm really hot." Yeah you are, you added in your mind.
You two headed inside to your room not wanting to draw any attention from your friends at the moment just wanting to cool down. You got to your room and shut the door both of you flopping down onto your bed, him laying down with his legs hanging off the bed while you propping yourself up with your arms.
"Hey, Y/N, can we turn on some music?" He looked over at you and you obviously couldn't say no.
"Yeah, you want to choose?" You gave him the phone and watched what playlist he picked. Great he went with your Aesthetic playlist. Almost every song on there was a love song. He looked through the playlist.
"I haven't heard most of these." He put the list on shuffle. Put Your Head On My Shoulder started to play softly in the background.
"What no this is a love song. Let's play something else." You proceeded to try and grab your phone when he suddenly pulled his hand back.
"No! I like this song!" You sat up and leaned over him to get your phone. He moved his hand from his side to above his head. You put your leg over him and straddled him, leaning over his head you still couldn't get your phone. Giving up you leaned back while sitting on him.
"I give up your arms are too long!" He slyly slipped his hands over the sides of the pillow.
"Liar! You can reach them you just dont want too." He stared at you laughing. You were very confused.
"And why would I wa-" BAM! A pillow wa shoved in your face. You couldn't stop laughing as you shoved the pillow down onto his stomach.
"Oops." He said while shrugging in a 'I didnt know' way. Right at that moment you felt the blood rush to your face as you realized that you were in your room, straddling C/N, and his hands were resting just above your knees. You rushed to look away. You were blushing so hard that you might just look like a red lightbulb if you stared any longer. You covered your face to make sure he didnt see you. You felt Y/N's hands leave your legs and land on your arms to pull them away from your face.
"Hey, what's wrong?" Fake concern was written all over your face. Does he know? No he couldn't plus he would never tease me like this if he knew just how much I liked him. You looked up and away smiling, "Nothing" you laughed a little.
"Oh yeah, then why is your face so red?" He pressed on.
"Oh my gosh. My face is always red!" Your heart was racing. He hadn't told you to get off or that you guys should go back outside. Your anxiety was at an all time high. One of his hands traveled up to your chin and turned your head. Your grin faded to a small slime when you met his eyes.
"No it's not. I see it enough to know." You didnt know how to respond you were so nervous. He leaned up on his elbows and whispered, "Come here Y/N." His hands pressed against your back you leaned down. Your lips met with his and it felt like the best moment of your life. His lips were warm and softer than you expected. You cradled his face and laid back down. He removed the pillow between you two and held you in a hug as tight as he could your lips moving in synch with his. You pulled away breathless but not letting it show.
"I hope that means that you like me." You opened your eyes to stare at his E/C ones. He took a deep breath and replied, "Of course I do. Who wouldn't?"
He chuckled and you both sat up. "So you want to be my girlfriend? Ya know, go on cute dates and cuddle in the movies?" You hugged him and whispered, "Yes! Oh my god, yes."
You just sat there and hugged for a while. He pulled away a few inches and started to kiss all around your face. You both were a giggling mess.
The door opened and there stood your bestfriend, B/F/N. "Oh. Wow. Well I hate to interrupt whatever is going on here but your dad is looking for you in the yard so ummmm.... you might want to get out there." She had a huge smile on her face, turned around, and closed the door. You look over and C/N says, "We should go now." You agree and go back outside.
After the party is over and C/N leaves you tell B/F/N everything that happened. Both of you were dying by the end.

In the early light of a May dawn this is what the living room of my apartment looks like: Over the white marble and granite gas-log fireplace hangs an original David Onica. It’s a six-foot-by-four-foot portrait of a naked woman, mostly done in muted grays and olives, sitting on a chaise longue watching MTV, the backdrop a Martian landscape, a gleaming mauve desert scattered with dead, gutted fish, smashed plates rising like a sunburst above the woman’s yellow head, and the whole thing is framed in black aluminum steel. The painting overlooks a long white down-filled sofa and a thirty-inch digital TV set from Toshiba; it’s a high-contrast highly defined model plus it has a four-corner video stand with a high-tech tube combination from NEC with a picture-in-picture digital effects system (plus freeze-frame); the audio includes built-in MTS and a five-watt-per-channel on-board amp. A Toshiba VCR sits in a glass case beneath the TV set; it’s a super-high-band Beta unit and has built-in editing function including a character generator with eight-page memory, a high-band record and playback, and three-week, eight-event timer. A hurricane halogen lamp is placed in each corner of the living room. Thin white Venetian blinds cover all eight floor-to-ceiling windows. A glass-top coffee table with oak legs by Turchin sits in front of the sofa, with Steuben glass animals placed strategically around expensive crystal ashtrays from Fortunoff, though I don’t smoke. Next to the Wurlitzer jukebox is a black ebony Baldwin concert grand piano. A polished white oak floor runs throughout the apartment. On the other side of the room, next to a desk and a magazine rack by Gio Ponti, is a complete stereo system (CD player, tape deck, tuner, amplifier) by Sansui with six-foot Duntech Sovereign 2001 speakers in Brazilian rosewood. A down-filled futon lies on an oakwood frame in the center of the bedroom. Against the wall is a Panasonic thirty-one-inch set with a direct-view screen and stereo sound and beneath it in a glass case is a Toshiba VCR. I’m not sure if the time on the Sony digital alarm clock is correct so I have to sit up then look down at the time flashing on and off on the VCR, then pick up the Ettore Sottsass push-button phone that rests on the steel and glass nightstand next to the bed and dial the time number. A cream leather, steel and wood chair designed by Eric Marcus is in one corner of the room, a molded plywood chair in the other. A black-dotted beige and white Maud Sienna carpet covers most of the floor. One wall is hidden by four chests of immense bleached mahogany drawers. In bed I’m wearing Ralph Lauren silk pajamas and when I get up I slip on a paisley ancient madder robe and walk to the bathroom. I urinate while trying to make out the puffiness of my reflection in the glass that encases a baseball poster hung above the toilet. After I change into Ralph Lauren monogrammed boxer shorts and a Fair Isle sweater and slide into silk polka-dot Enrico Hidolin slippers I tie a plastic ice pack around my face and commence with the morning’s stretching exercises. Afterwards I stand in front of a chrome and acrylic Washmobile bathroom sink—with soap dish, cup holder, and railings that serve as towel bars, which I bought at Hastings Tile to use while the marble sinks I ordered from Finland are being sanded—and stare at my reflection with the ice pack still on. I pour some Plax antiplaque formula into a stainless-steel tumbler and swish it around my mouth for thirty seconds. Then I squeeze Rembrandt onto a faux-tortoise-shell toothbrush and start brushing my teeth (too hung over to floss properly—but maybe I flossed before bed last night?) and rinse with Listerine. Then I inspect my hands and use a nailbrush. I take the ice-pack mask off and use a deep-pore cleanser lotion, then an herb-mint facial masque which I leave on for ten minutes while I check my toenails. Then I use the Probright tooth polisher and next the Interplak tooth polisher (this in addition to the toothbrush) which has a speed of 4200 rpm and reverses direction forty-six times per second; the larger tufts clean between teeth and massage the gums while the short ones scrub the tooth surfaces. I rinse again, with Cepacol. I wash the facial massage off with a spearmint face scrub. The shower has a universal all-directional shower head that adjusts within a thirty-inch vertical range. It’s made from Australian gold-black brass and covered with a white enamel finish. In the shower I use first a water-activated gel cleanser, then a honey-almond body scrub, and on the face an exfoliating gel scrub. Vidal Sassoon shampoo is especially good at getting rid of the coating of dried perspiration, salts, oils, airborne pollutants and dirt that can weigh down hair and flatten it to the scalp which can make you look older. The conditioner is also good—silicone technology permits conditioning benefits without weighing down the hair which can also make you look older. On weekends or before a date I prefer to use the Greune Natural Revitalizing Shampoo, the conditioner and the Nutrient Complex. These are formulas that contain D-panthenol, a vitamin-B-complex factor; polysorbate 80, a cleansing agent for the scalp; and natural herbs. Over the weekend I plan to go to Bloomingdale’s or Bergdorf’s and on Evelyn’s advice pick up a Foltene European Supplement and Shampoo for thinning hair which contains complex carbohydrates that penetrate the hair shafts for improved strength and shine. Also the Vivagen Hair Enrichment Treatment, a new Redken product that prevents mineral deposits and prolongs the life cycle of hair. Luis Carruthers recommended the Aramis Nutriplexx system, a nutrient complex that helps increase circulation. Once out of the shower and toweled dry I put the Ralph Lauren boxers back on and before applying the Mousse A Raiser, a shaving cream by Pour Hommes, I press a hot towel against my face for two minutes to soften abrasive beard hair. Then I always slather on a moisturizer (to my taste, Clinique) and let it soak in for a minute. You can rinse it off or keep it on and apply a shaving cream over it—preferably with a brush, which softens the beard as it lifts the whiskers—which I’ve found makes removing the hair easier. It also helps prevent water from evaporating and reduces friction between your skin and the blade. Always wet the razor with warm water before shaving and shave in the direction the beard grows, pressing gently on the skin. Leave the sideburns and chin for last, since these whiskers are tougher and need more time to soften. Rinse the razor and shake off any excess water before starting. Afterwards splash cool water on the face to remove any trace of lather. You should use an aftershave lotion with little or no alcohol. Never use cologne on your face, since the high alcohol content dries your face out and makes you look older. One should use an alcohol-free antibacterial toner with a water-moistened cotton ball to normalize the skin. Applying a moisturizer is the final step. Splash on water before applying an emollient lotion to soften the skin and seal in the moisture. Next apply Gel Appaisant, also made by Pour Hommes, which is an excellent, soothing skin lotion. If the face seems dry and flaky—which makes it look dull and older—use a clarifying lotion that removes flakes and uncovers fine skin (it can also make your tan look darker). Then apply an anti-aging eye balm (Baume Des Yeux) followed by a final moisturizing “protective” lotion. A scalp-programming lotion is used after I towel my hair dry. I also lightly blow-dry the hair to give it body and control (but without stickiness) and then add more of the lotion, shaping it with a Kent natural-bristle brush, and finally slick it back with a wide-tooth comb. I pull the Fair Isle sweater back on and reslip my feet into the polka-dot silk slippers, then head into the living room and put the new Talking Heads in the CD player, but it starts to digitally skip so I take it out and put in a CD laser lens cleaner. The laser lens is very sensitive, and subject to interference from dust or dirt or smoke or pollutants or moisture, and a dirty one can inaccurately read CDs, making for false starts, inaudible passages, digital skipping, speed changes and general distortion; the lens cleaner has a cleaning brush that automatically aligns with the lens then the disk spins to remove residue and particles. When I put the Talking Heads CD back in it plays smoothly. I retrieve the copy of USA Today that lies in front of my door in the hallway and bring it with me into the kitchen where I take two Advil, a multivitamin and a potassium tablet, washing them down with a large bottle of Evian water since the maid, an elderly Chinese woman, forgot to turn the dishwasher on when she left yesterday, and then I have to pour the grapefruit-lemon juice into a St. Remy wineglass I got from Baccarat. I check the neon clock that hangs over the refrigerator to make sure I have enough time to eat breakfast unhurriedly. Standing at the island in the kitchen I eat kiwifruit and a sliced Japanese apple-pear (they cost four dollars each at Gristede’s) out of aluminum storage boxes that were designed in West Germany. I take a bran muffin, a decaffeinated herbal tea bag and a box of oat-bran cereal from one of the large glass-front cabinets that make up most of an entire wall in the kitchen; complete with stainless-steel shelves and sandblasted wire glass, it is framed in a metallic dark gray-blue. I eat half of the bran muffin after it’s been microwaved and lightly covered with a small helping of apple butter. A bowl of oat-bran cereal with wheat germ and soy milk follows; another bottle of Evian water and a small cup of decaf tea after that. Next to the Panasonic bread baker and the Salton Pop-Up coffee maker is the Cremina sterling silver espresso maker (which is, oddly, still warm) that I got at Hammacher Schlemmer (the thermal-insulated stainless-steel espresso cup and the saucer and spoon are sitting by the sink, stained) and the Sharp Model R-1810A Carousel II microwave oven with revolving turntable which I use when I heat up the other half of the bran muffin. Next to the Salton Sonata toaster and the Cuisinart Little Pro food processor and the Acme Supreme Juicerator and the Cordially Yours liqueur maker stands the heavy-gauge stainless-steel two-and-one-half-quart teakettle, which whistles “Tea for Two” when the water is boiling, and with it I make another small cup of the decaffeinated apple-cinnamon tea. For what seems like a long time I stare at the Black & Decker Handy Knife that lies on the counter next to the sink, plugged into the wall: it’s a slicer/peeler with several attachments, a serrated blade, a scalloped blade and a rechargeable handle. The suit I wear today is from Alan Flusser. It’s an eighties drape suit, which is an updated version of the thirties style. The favored version has extended natural shoulders, a full chest and a bladed back. The soft-rolled lapels should be about four inches wide with the peak finishing three quarters of the way across the shoulders. Properly used on double-breasted suits, peaked lapels are considered more elegant than notched ones. Low-slung pockets have a flapped double-besom design—above the flap there’s a slit trimmed on either side with a flat narrow strip of cloth. Four buttons form a low-slung square; above it, about where the lapels cross, there are two more buttons. The trousers are deeply pleated and cut full in order to continue the flow of the wide jacket. An extended waist is cut slightly higher in the front. Tabs make the suspenders fit well at the center back. The tie is a dotted silk design by Valentino Couture. The shoes are crocodile loafers by A. Testoni. While I’m dressing the TV is kept on to The Patty Winters Show. Today’s guests are women with multiple personalities. A nondescript overweight older woman is on the screen and Patty’s voice is heard asking, “Well, is it schizophrenia or what’s the deal? Tell us.” “No, oh no. Multiple personalities are not schizophrenics,” the woman says, shaking her head. “We are not dangerous.” “Well,” Patty starts, standing in the middle of the audience, microphone in hand. “Who were you last month?” “Last month it seemed to be mostly Polly,” the woman says. A cut to the audience—a housewife’s worried face; before she notices herself on the monitor, it cuts back to the multiple-personality woman. “Well,” Patty continues, “now who are you?” “Well …,” the woman begins tiredly, as if she was sick of being asked this question, as if she had answered it over and over again and still no one believed it. “Well, this month I’m … Lambchop. Mostly … Lambchop.” A long pause. The camera cuts to a close-up of a stunned housewife shaking her head, another housewife whispering something to her. The shoes I’m wearing are crocodile loafers by A. Testoni. Grabbing my raincoat out of the closet in the entranceway I find a Burberry scarf and matching coat with a whale embroidered on it (something a little kid might wear) and it’s covered with what looks like dried chocolate syrup crisscrossed over the front, darkening the lapels. I take the elevator downstairs to the lobby, rewinding my Rolex by gently shaking my wrist. I say good morning to the doorman, step outside and hail a cab, heading downtown toward Wall Street.

How to Do Cate Blanchett’s Skincare Routine
If there's one celeb who inspires skin envy, it's Cate Blanchett.
At 50 years old, the Australian actress is as well-known for her flawless, luminous complexion as she is for her Oscar-winning film roles.
So it's no surprise that she was the global ambassador for the revered Japanese skincare line SK-II for 15 years, and now holds the same position for Giorgio Armani Beauty.
"Initially, when I signed on with SK-II, some people would ask me, 'But you don't use it, do you?' and I would honestly respond, 'Yes, I do actually,'" Cate told Gritty Pretty. "I understand that cynicism, but it's been a very organic relationship because the brand was only interested in talking to me because they knew I already used it."
It was her makeup artist, Mary Greenwell, who first introduced her to the range back in 2001, when Cate was pregnant with her first child and had developed melasma. "After that... I was completely stunned by the results. I don't know how to describe it, but SK-II sort of turns a light on in your skin. It illuminates it. I noticed a decrease in my skin's pigmentation probably after a month. I really started to notice the difference when I would have close-ups on film. Using SK-II made me feel more confident at work. And, as soon as I felt more confident at work and I didn't have to worry about breakouts, I was addicted.”
All these years later, the line's products—plus plenty of SPF—have kept Cate's skin looking like this:
"My skin is in pretty good condition and has been stable, because I found something that really works for me, and I’ve stuck with it," she explained to The Cut. "I think my skin is a lot more resilient. I have fewer breakouts than I did in my 20s, which you can say is partially hormonal, but also because I'm not changing it up."
Here's what's involved in Cate's skincare routine:
Cate’s Morning Skincare Routine
1. Cleanser:
"I just tend to cleanse at night. [But] if I've had a particularly late night and gone to bed with my makeup on, I wash my face in the morning."
2. Essence:
SK-II Facial Treatment Essence
SK-II Facial Treatment Essence: "I have been using the SK-II Essence for about 15 years now. It has so many purposes. I use it over makeup and under makeup. It's a moisturizer, but the key ingredient, Pitera, also works on the clarity and the radiance and hydration of my skin. When I can only pack one thing, it'll be that. If I had the choice between spending a lot of money on a foundation or buying a bottle of essence, I'd get the essence because if you use it over time you need less foundation anyway."
3. Serum:
SK-II LXP Ultimate Revival Serum
SK-II LXP Ultimate Revival Serum: "In terms of my regime every morning, it's so simple I don't even have to think about it. It's literally the essence [and] the serum.... I was quite freckly as a child from being out in the sun, but then I used the SK-II whitening products and all those freckles went away. It's not necessarily about bleaching the skin which is a long, ancient tradition in Japan. It's more about evenness of tone and that's what I find the range does. It just works on the luminescence of the skin."
4. Moisturizers:
Giorgio Armani Crema Nera Supreme Reviving Cream
Giorgio Armani Crema Nera Supreme Reviving Cream: "[My skincare] depends on the season. I always use good quality products and products that have a natural base. What I've been using recently because of the weather is Giorgio Armani Crema Nera. I use a cream moisturizer... every day."
SK-II LXP Ultimate Revival Cream
SK-II LXP Ultimate Revival Cream: "What I love about the moisturizer is that it's really hydrating. You can put your makeup over it and it's not shiny. You feel it penetrates immediately. You don't feel like it cakes onto your skin."
5. Face Oil:
Giorgio Armani Crema Nera Supreme Recovery Oil
Giorgio Armani Crema Nera Supreme Recovery Oil: "I use... a recovery oil every day to give my skin an extra barrier from the weather."
6. Sunscreens:
Daylong Extreme SPF 50+
Daylong Extreme SPF 50+: "I'm eternally grateful that my mother always encouraged me to stay out of the sun and wear sunscreen [when I was growing up]. With very pale skin, it was especially important not to become a bronzed sun bunny. I think 90 percent of people who have issues with their skin—health-wise and also in terms of satisfaction with their complexion—are actually talking about sun damage. I use a very strong sunscreen. Even on [winter] days... I put on something with an SPF.... I think it's just a process I've inherited from growing up. There's a sunscreen called Daylong and I use that."
Neutrogena Age Shield Face Oil-Free Lotion SPF 110
Neutrogena Sunscreen: "The best piece of advice is to wear sunscreen and not go out in the harsh Australian sun. I was out for 15 minutes yesterday in the sun and it's just so intense. You really do have to put on 50 SPF and you have to walk in the shade. I use a good one by Neutrogena."
7. Lip Balm:
Lucas' Papaw Ointment
Lucas' Papaw Ointment: "I use it on my lips, elbows and heels. During allergy season, it helps reduce redness around my nose and eyes."
Cate’s Nighttime Skincare Routine
1. Makeup Remover:
SK-II Facial Treatment Cleansing Oil
SK-II Facial Treatment Cleansing Oil: "When I'm on stage or on a film set, I'll use the oil-based cleanser, which is really like an eye makeup remover as well—it's a lazy girl's cleanser. [It] really takes everything off. I am removing makeup three times a night, eight times a week. My eye area takes a bit of beating, but the oil cleanser is really gentle."
2. Cleansing Brush:
Clarisonic Mia Smart Anti-Aging and Cleansing Skincare Device
Clarisonic Device: "I have a Clarisonic brush, and it's great."
3. Exfoliators:
Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant
Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant: "I never used to exfoliate, but now that I do, I think it's a good thing to do regularly. You can't treat a problem unless you get the top layer of dead skin off, and we're constantly covered in dead skin. So it's important to get it off. Look at men in their 40s and then look at women in their 40s—for men, their skin looks really good because they shave every day. I would exfoliate every day if I'm filming, because you spend the entire day in makeup. I just need to do it psychologically, as well, to end the day. SK-II doesn't do an exfoliator, so I use one from Dermalogica...."
Intraceuticals Rejuvenate Enzyme Exfoliant
Intraceuticals Rejuvenate Enzyme Exfoliant: "Or this Australian company called Intraceuticals."
4. Essence:
SK-II LXP Ultimate Revival Essence
SK-II LXP Ultimate Revival Essence: "Pitera is the essential core so in the end, my desert island treatment would be the Facial Treatment Essence. Recently they rebooted it with extra Pitera to make the LXP version, which is what I use. It has become my number one product, not only because the packaging is gorgeous but the quality is so remarkable that a little goes a long way."
5. Serum:
SK-II LXP Ultimate Revival Serum
SK-II LXP Ultimate Revival Serum: "[My skincare routine before bed] really is the essence and the LXP Serum and the LXP Moisturizer."
6. Moisturizer:
SK-II LXP Ultimate Revival Cream
SK-II LXP Ultimate Revival Cream: "Then I put the LXP Ultimate Revival Cream on, every morning and night. You've got to really massage it into your skin and it stimulates your skin to receive the product; I've learned that from working with [makeup artist] Mary Greenwell."
7. Eye Cream:
SK-II R.N.A. Power Eye Cream
SK-II R.N.A. Power Eye Cream: "I finish with eye cream."
Cate’s Skincare Treatments
Facials:
Georgia Louise: "Cate is a natural beauty so she's all about natural-looking skin. I've been creating lots of custom facial treatments for her using micro-currents and radio-frequency, mostly non-invasive modalities to tighten and stimulate collagen. We keep her skin looking like glass, with lots of vitamin C to help brighten and a big emphasis on detoxing and de-puffing." — Georgia Louise, Cate's facialist
Oxygen Facials:
"I occasionally have an oxygen facial—they're great."
Massage:
"Always make time for a face and body massage. It's the best beauty tip I've learnt over the years and the one I continually tell my friends. It relieves the day-to-day stress we carry in our faces and bodies. Anything that increases the blood circulation to relax your face [is good], because we carry so much stress in our face."
Light Therapy:
GLOLite LED Mask
GLOLite LED Mask: "For on-the-go, I recommend devices, like my LED mask. There's no reason you can't do a treatment at home when you can't make it to an esthetician. Cate's really thankful for the devices because they can maintain a glow on the go." — Georgia Louise
Face Masks:
SK-II Brightening Derm Revival Mask
SK-II Brightening Derm Revival Mask: "I love to do a brightening mask [before appearances], because it evens out your skin tone and it helps to luminize it. It gives your skin more radiance."
SK-II Facial Treatment Mask
SK-II Facial Treatment Mask: "For a big event like a red carpet, I might do a treatment mask [to moisturize] the day before and then do a brightening mask while getting ready. And when I'm travelling, I'll do a facial treatment mask because it's really hydrating."
Cold Spoons:
"The biggest thing I took from [my mum] is putting spoons in the freezer for your eyes. If you haven't done that, you've got to try it! I flew into London and I was up with the children at 2am, so I got the hotel staff to put teaspoons in their freezer. I put them on before The Hobbit premiere; it's so brutal, you totally wake up!"
Cate’s Diet, Exercise and Lifestyle
Diet:
"There's no grand diet plan but I try to stay away from wheat, even though I love bread as much as the next person, and I avoid additives. Then again, you also need to live your life and there'll be evenings when I drink five glasses of champagne!"
Water:
"Even though it's very boring, just try to drink water."
Caffeine:
"I know when I don't have coffee my skin is much better."
Supplements:
Aethern Advanced Skin Beauty Program
Aethern Advanced Skin Beauty Program: "I just started taking these really great skin vitamins. It's called Aethern. I've never heard of it before, but someone recommended it to me. It's a liquid vitamin. I do think it's what you ingest. I've always been very big on my kids taking vitamins, but I often forget myself."
RMS Beauty Within Probiotic + Prebiotic Dietary Supplement
Probiotics: "The health of your gut is really, really important. To help your gut, take a probiotic—that's a thing I take. What I would say is good for everybody is taking a probiotic; if your gut is healthy, then you're more likely to have healthier skin."
Sakara Detox Water Drops
Chlorophyll: "My son's digestive system has been quite challenged so I've been doing quite a lot of investigation and have started to take chlorophyll in the morning. The only way that I can get him to drink it is if I do, too. I put a couple of tablespoons into water and I also have it at night. That's been fantastic. My son quite likes it because they must drink some potion in the Harry Potter films that looks similar! It doesn't taste bad, but it doesn't look great!"
Bragg Organic Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar: "A teaspoon of that. It just makes you feel clean—it's good for your gut. [It] makes me feel healthier from the inside. You do get used to it. It's just to make your system more alkaline. Stress makes it so acidic."
Exercise:
"I really like Pilates. I feel like it's made for actors' bodies. For me, I need to do it one-on-one. I find that when you go into a big class, you actually need a guiding hand. At home we have an elliptical trainer, which is good because that's often the only exercise I get. But my job is very active—I end up stretching each day before I go on, so I feel very taken care of in that way."
Sleep:
"You can't turn back time but you can try and sleep longer."
Lymphatic Cleansing:
Dr. Bo Wagner: "I've done a lymphatic cleanse a few times for liver, kidneys and gallbladder—there's a guy in Los Angles called Dr. Bo Wagner. It's not to lose weight, it's more of a detox but I felt fabulous after it. It's hardcore; it's a month long and all herbal and you detox, cleanse and then renew everything. You don't eat for a week but it really made me feel incredible."
Colonics:
"I think it's good every now and then to have a colonic. Yeah, not every day, but every now and again, because it's super hydrating."
Stress Reduction:
"You know when someone has a migraine or a headache and they haven't done anything to their face, but their whole face constricts? I think that anything you can do to remove stress will give you a better glow. Stress ain't good for nothing. So you've got to find those little moments where you can literally just stop and take a breath."
"We often talk about quick beauty fixes, but sometimes you just need to sit down and turn your phone off for 20 minutes, and that's all you need to make your face relax. People think you look so much better, and it's just because you've gotten rid of the stress. Give up social media. That'll take 10 years off you."
Attitude:
"There's a big difference between altering your appearance and trying to work with what you got. My philosophy is to work with what you got. It's about feeling comfortable in your own skin. But it's easy to form judgment on other people. For me, I've just grown up that way. My mother is not someone who has surgically enhanced herself. It doesn't seem natural to me. But that's just me—ultimately, I believe women have judged other women too long."

Entry 27: 4.20.20 @ 12:15 a.m.
Happy 4/20! I’m chillin’ in my room. Just got ready for bed.
Lately I’ve noticed that my face is dryer than usual, and certain spots are red and sensitive. I did a lot of research and realized that my routine was NOT good for my skin. I have very dry, dull skin. It’s also sensitive so I need a routine that is going to moisturize and protect from the elements. The routine I was previously doing was very simple and worked for me when I was in my teens. I would use an apricot scrub and moisturize with lotion. Of course, I was a teen that had raging hormones and prone to occasional breakouts. So, exfoliating and moisturizing was working for me. But, now that I’m in my late 20′s, I don’t break out and my skin is just very dry and sensitive. I noticed the change about three years ago and switched to virgin coconut oil as a moisturizer. It improved dramatically and now I’m older and see another change.
As I mentioned, my skin is very dry so when I wear makeup it looks caked a little flaky. Now I know it’s because I use an apricot scrub everyday...I use it twice a day now as well. In the last two years, I started showering twice. When I shower, I wash my face. I was really damaging my face without knowing it. So, now I have a little regime and intend to keep up on.
I threw away the apricot scrub and replaced it with a mild cleanser. Unless I’ve worn makeup, I start with the cleanser, then a toner and rinse it off. After that, I use a serum all over my face and then an eye cream for the darkness under my eyes. I roll the cream with a rose quartz roller that I keep cool in the fridge. I make sure to sanitize and keep it in a container, away from food. Lastly, I use a moisturizer and make sure to also get my neck. It’s only been a day, but my face and hands feel softer. Other than that, I’m going to be doing this morning and night. The routine is the same, but I do have two separate moisturizers, serums and eye creams. The day routine focuses on moisture and protection and the night is moisture and restoration. I feel great about it and next I will be finding a better hair routine.
Yesterday was Jasmine’s mom’s online anniversary party. I straightened my hair, did my makeup and put on a cute shirt. I wore pajama shorts because I knew no one was going to see the bottom half of me, lol. It was nice and fun. Her fiancé was very nice, and they seem to be very happy. I also got to see some of the family members I’ve met before and ones that I’ve only heard of. It was nice to talk to people, lol. That sounds bad but I was let go of my job and am quarantined. I also got to look cute for the first time in weeks and find a real reason to get wine drunk.
I don’t remember if I mentioned it, but I paid off my last two tickets and was waiting for the second payment to process so that I could pay the reinstatement fee on my license. It took three days but finally it went through! Tomorrow I need to call Dade and make the payment. I can’t wait! I’ll finally have my license back and be able to start saving for a car. Speaking of saving money, my mom texted me today. She sent me a news article stating that congress was in the middle of getting one of two bills passed. One stated that it was going to give people 2000 dollars a month for up to one year and the other was going to freeze mortgage and rent payments for up to one year. She then proceeded to tell me not to worry about looking for a job because I will be able pocket that money. I know it sounds like she is being helpful, but I can’t help but wonder if she has other motives. She is very manipulative, and we just had a fight about money last week. I haven’t even left Texas yet and she’s already starting to act like her old self. I haven’t told her that I’m reinstating my license, so I used that to my advantage. I told her, “Oh, good. If it works out, I can work on reinstating my license.” She agreed. I don’t want her to even think she can plot on my money.
My mother wants to move soon after I get there. She wants a two bedroom so that I can be comfortable and I honestly, I am very concerned. I don’t want her thinking that she can spend her money frivolously because I’m getting money and can cover it. I feel like she will try that and it’s going to piss me off. She makes a lot of money and she spends it on stupid things. When she’s tight on money, she will do anything to get it. She will use people, including myself. I hate it and its one of the reasons I left. This corona virus has screwed me over and I need a place to get back on my feet. That’s the only reason I agreed to go back home. I refuse to let her use me, drain my pockets and keep me stuck there! I’m fully preparing myself for so many fights over money because I WILL NOT bend to her will! I’m not the same weak, submissive girl she used to control and belittle. I don’t give a fuck about anything that comes out of her mouth and I will look after myself before I help her. That’s what she did to me growing up and it’s what I’m going to do to her now. She better be an adult and responsible because I will leave her in whatever situation in a heartbeat! I grew up in NC and have lots of friends and people that will gladly let me stay with them. I don’t need her.
