pairing: eddie munson x fem!reader
in which eddie masters valentine’s day through the art of eating pussy
cw: 18+ ONLY — SMUT oral (f receiving)
a/n: an early valentine from me to all of u. mwah mwah hope u enjoy ❤️
Eddie Munson doesn't really know what to do when it comes to Valentine's Day.
It's not like he's an idiot; he understands that typically a romantic dinner or a bouquet of flowers and some chocolates are the perfect show of appreciation and affection.
But those things are typically reserved for your girlfriend, and you're not his girlfriend.
But you're also, like, not not his girlfriend.
Eddie doesn't really know what you are, and that's the issue. It started off with you guys just hooking up. Late nights in his van parked behind the school or in a dark part of some neighborhood. Quickies in the bathroom during a break in Hellfire sessions. But it's slowly started to morph into... something else? Eddie isn't one hundred percent sure, but he's noticed that you come over more often, and you don't just want to jump his bones and leave.
Sometimes you guys don't even fuck anymore. Sometimes you invite him over just to watch movies, or he'll ask you to go for a drive with him. You hold his hand under the table when you go out to Benny's diner with the friend group, and Steve keeps waggling his eyebrows at him suggestively every time he catches you two sitting extremely close to each other. Which just makes Eddie blush like a loser.
And, every time you two are about to part ways, you look like you really want to kiss him before he goes.
And sure, you guys have kissed before. He's not about to hook up with you without at least kissing you stupid first. But this is different. You've been looking at him like you just want to kiss him, with nothing to come afterwards.
It all makes him sweat if he thinks about it for too long.
So for now, in the midst of his anxious unwillingness to ask you the horrifying 'What are we?', he's simply decided to show his appreciation for you on Valentine's Day with the one thing he's certain you'll love. He can deal with his feelings and stuff, later.
Your hand fists its way into his hair, fingers gripping his unruly curls like they're the only thing still tethering you to earth. His knees press into the worn carpeting of the trailer, his mouth latched to your cunt while his hands keep the fabric of your skirt rucked up at your waist.
You’re standing with your back pressed against the kitchen counter, your sneakers still on. He barely gave you a moment to settle yourself upon arrival before he was on you like a bad rash.
What can he say? When it all comes down to it, he’s a simple man, and you’re his favorite meal.
“Eddie,” you sigh, tilting your head back in bliss.
His tongue swipes its way through your folds before finding your clit and sucking on it. He can feel your body tremble, your knees nearly buckling with the overwhelming sense of pleasure.
His big brown eyes chance a glance up at you, at the exact moment you’re looking down at him. Your lips part in a moan, his tongue flicking rapidly at your clit, though he’s not sure if it’s that or the eye contact that forced the sound from you.
He’s guessing the latter, because something in your gaze feels different. The entire moment feels different.
Before, being intimate with you felt reckless, hot. Now it’s like he’s spilling every word he hasn’t said to you into the space between your thighs, hoping you’ll read his secret code. Hoping desperately that he’s not seeing this wrong, that you actually do like him as much as he realizes he likes you.
He needs to chill before he whispers an I love you right here on his knees.
He breaks your gaze after a moment or two, letting his eyes fall closed once more. He can taste how wet you are, he’s lapping up your arousal with every swipe of his tongue, and he honestly would kind of be okay with dying right here. His face is completely buried in you, nose bumping your clit, tongue on a mission to be as deep inside of you as possible.
You let your hips buck, nearly grinding on his face as he licks and sucks and bites, his ringed fingers squeezing the meat of your ass now.
“Eddie, ohmygod,” you cry, your white knuckle grip on the countertop keeping you from collapsing.
“What is it, baby?” he asks sweetly, kitten licking your sensitive bud before taking it between his lips and sucking.
That’s another thing, he’s started calling you all of these pet names lately. And the more he does it, the more he finds he doesn’t want to stop. He might actually be physically incapable of stopping.
“Feels so good, I—” you gasp at the sudden intrusion of two of his fingers. “I fucking love you,” you rasp out, your body reaching its peak at the exact moment the words escape you.
Eddie’s eyes shoot up to look at you, going impossibly wide. Yet he doesn’t stop what he’s doing, he brings you fully through your high until you’re shaking all over. Your words did nothing but spur him on, more determined than ever to bring you crashing down around him.
Only once you’ve come down do you seem to process what you said, and for a minute all you can do is stare at each other.
“Eddie, I—” you scramble, but he’s quicker.
“No. Don’t backtrack. Don’t do that,” he says, still on his knees before you. Still tasting you on his lips, still feeling you beneath his fingertips.
He rises to his feet, hooking a finger under your chin. You’re giving him that look again. The one that makes it seem like you want to kiss him more than you want to breathe.
And so he gives in. Lips smashing to yours, in a completely different context than any of the times before. He hopes you can feel everything he feels just through this kiss. Hopes he’s getting his point across.
The way you pull him flush up against you to deepen the kiss gives him the idea that his point was received.
Eddie Munson is great at this whole Valentine’s Day thing.

[I THINK HE KNOWS!]
𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐘: a fake and curated date in italy on valentine's day is no one's idea of fun except a publicist’s. but all it does it take a walk around monza to know the difference between what's real and what's fake.
𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐒: fluff, poor humour, fake dating trope, reader is a graduate uni student, lando being a dream boyfriend, kinda suggestive at the end, mentions of horrible fans and privacy invaded, me knowing nothing about italy let alone lombardy at the end as well.
𝐏𝐀𝐈𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐆: lando norris x fem!reader
𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐃 𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐓: 3.3k
𝐀/𝐍: third fic of my series! i really loved writing this one! fake dating is always such a hit or miss to write about but in this case, it was a lot easier. hope you enjoyed it!♡︎ // as usual, poorly proofread
𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 | 𝐦𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭
Life’s a funny thing really. Full of mistakes leaving you wondering how you ever got there.
And as you sat on a bench, looking over at the view of Lake Como in Lombardy, Italy, with ‘hidden’ paparazzi down the street, you began wondering the exact same thing.
“How long do you think they’ll be here?” You queried, turning your body to face Lando.
Lando tilted his head, resting his cheek in his hand as he leaned on the top of the bench. His blue eyes briefly raked over you and then where the paparazzi hid. He looked over at his watch. “Give or take twenty minutes. They’ll probably be hungry for actual food soon.”
You withheld your sigh. How did you get here? Time sure had flown as seven months ago you were just a graduating university student with loan after loan on her shoulders. The very student who still decided to have a sweet treat after handing in her assignment and headed to your favourite cafe. The very student who bumped into Lando Norris and had her bracelet snag on the sleeve of his jacket, landing you in a compromising position as you tried to take it out.
The very student who woke up the next day with her entire privacy invaded as ‘fans’ hunted you online and seemingly decided not only were you Lando’s girlfriend but the ‘perfect match’.
That was you.
Mere hours later, you had Lando’s publicist and underlings knocking at your door with a comprehensive contract and a promise to pay your student loans and pay you. You didn’t think it would last this long. Three months tops... surely.
So, you signed it. A contract declaring that you were fake dating Lando Norris.
They said it would help Lando’s image. And help it did. Lando had never looked better to his sponsors. Apparently dating a university graduate makes you look more polished and mature, enough to at least secure a dozen contracts. Most fans seemed to love you. Even the driver’s had taken a liking to you.
But to you, Lando, and a handful of selectively picked people, this was all fake.
Every decision was carefully made. The matching jewellery, what he said, what you posted, where you met, the hugs, the arms around the waist, the staring, the kisses...
And six months later, here you were. On a curated date with the Lando Norris at Lake Como on Valentine’s Day – the third day of your trip. You had both compromised, agreeing to each make a list of things so do in Lombardy, two of which had to be a couple’s activity for the sake of it.
You had completed most of both of your lists. A visit to Teatro Alla Scala, an opera theatre (your idea, obviously). A guided tour Villa Del Balbianello because Lando needed to see some more real-life scenes of Star Wars (mostly ended up taking photos of you the entire time). An agreed night out from the both of you to Navigli to consume ‘local food.’
Lando, who desperately wanted to have walk around Lake Como, was sorely disappointed when he spotted the paparazzi hiding around the corner. “I’m sorry,” he mumbled, watching your fingers trail the cracks in the wooden bench.
“It’s okay,” you assured. “It’ll be over soon anyways.”
Lando knew you were talking about the paparazzi. But he couldn’t help but think about your relationship with him.
That day at the cafe... the only reason people thought you two were in a relationship wasn’t just because you were barely a centimetre apart trying to remove your bracelet but in all the photos people had captured, Lando was staring at you like it was love at first sight.
And before he knew it, everything had gone down. The fans, his publicist, the media... it was a shitshow. And then you showed up two days later having signed a contract to be his fake girlfriend.
Lando hated it. Fuck, he hated it so much. He hated that he dragged you into this. He hated that every moment with you was planned. And he especially hated that he couldn’t like you openly. Not with you thinking it was fake.
Lando looked down back at his watch. He sighed, leg beginning to shake out of impatience.
You raised a brow. Naturally, you put a hand on his arm. “Lando... is everything okay?”
Lando flickered his eyes to your hand and back to your face. He moved his arm from your grasp, grabbing your hand instead. “Come on. We’re leaving,” he stated.
Your eyes widened as he stood up, bringing you up with him. “W-What? Lan–we’re supposed to leave in thirty minutes,” you murmured quietly, leaving only him to hear your voice.
“I don’t care,” he started, increasing his walking pace. “Whatever you do... just hold on to me, okay?”
You furrowed your brows. “Lando, what are-”
Abruptly Lando paused in his steps. He turned to you, blue eyes staring hard back at you. “Do you trust me?”
“I–”
“Do you trust me? Yes, or no?” He repeated softly.
You gulped nervously, unable to look away from him. “Yes.”
A look of relief washed over his face as he nodded. “Good. Then hold on. And don’t let go.”
“Lando, I still don’t get what you–MEAN!” You yelped as Lando began running in no particular direction. You tightened your grasp on his hand while your legs struggled to catch up to him. The problems of having an athlete boyfriend.
The wind felt serene. The sun was oddly warm despite it being the winter season. It was as though spring was trying to come a little early. All the early architecture you had seen on the way here was beginning to blur into one uniform colour. You weren’t sure where you were going or why but all you knew was that you were going way too fast.
“Lando! I swear to God, if you get us killed–”
“You said you trusted me,” Lando yelled back, cautiously looking over his shoulder. He could see the paparazzi struggling to follow the both of you.
You panted, pushing your legs to keep up. “I do! Breaking into a sprint all of a sudden with no idea in mind, however, begs a slightly different answer.”
Lando couldn’t help but laugh over the air and God, did you love it. You had heard of people saying that a laugh could so like music to one’s ears. You never understood it. It was a laugh. A reaction. How could it be musical? But in that moment, you understood. It wasn’t just the laugh. It required the context, the smile, the thought... and only then did it become an orchestrated musical masterpiece.
Another yelp left your mouth as Lando pulled you to the side, situating yourselves in an empty shaded alleyway. You rested your back as comfortably as you could against the stone while Lando stood in front of you, hand still wrapped around yours.
You both waited quietly. Turning your head slightly, you could see a small flock of black clothed paparazzi walk by, all ushering and yelling, mystified to how you both had disappeared.
“Okay,” you swallowed hard, turning back to Lando. “I think they’re...” You seem to have lost your ability to speak as you found Lando staring at you. It had been a common occurrence within the past few months and it never got any easier. “They’re gone,” you confirmed, chest heaving.
“You should probably start joining me on my workouts,” he mumbled, eyes flickering over you again, absorbing the sight of the thin sheet of sweat across your skin.
You narrowed your eyes, moving your hand from his grasp to hit him with the side of your bag. A groan fell from his lips. “Ow!” He yelled, making you clasp a hand over his mouth. Your head darted to the side, checking whether anyone heard him.
“What was that for?” He queried after you removed your hand from his mouth.
“For being an asshole. And for making me run. Which reminds me... why did you make us run?” You queried with a more than unhappy tone.
Lando grinned. “We still have one thing on your list to do.”
You furrowed your brows. “I didn’t add anything else.”
Lando’s hand rummaged through the pocket of his shorts, taking out a familiar piece of paper – the very one you had written all your activities on. And right at the bottom was an activity you thought you tore off.
Your eyes widened, hand darting out to grab the piece of paper but Lando was too quick. “Nuh-uh,” he tutted, holding the paper close to him. “I’m getting this framed.”
You skin burned at his words. You clearly remembered what you wrote.
Walk the Monza track with Lando (and preferably some gelato).
“I was supposed to take that off,” you mumbled.
Lando frowned. “You don’t want to do it? Or did you not want to do it with me?”
You blinked blankly at Lando. “Are you stupid? Did you read the same thing I did? Obviously with you. I just... we’ll probably get mobbed so it’s a stupid idea.”
Lando understood what you meant. Visiting in Italy for two days now had proven to be incredibly difficult with a fan asking for a photo every other minute. He was appreciative that you were so understanding but he felt awful.
“Yeah... I mean it would be crazy if you had a boyfriend who could rent out the entire track for a couple of hours,” Lando yawned, stretching his arms nonchalantly.
Out of the corner of his eyes, he could see your mouth fall open. “Lando... you didn’t.”
Lando rolled his eyes, grabbing your hand once again. “I did. Now come on. We’re going to be late!”
━━━━━━━━━━━
You blinked blankly once you arrived to the empty Monza track. You had preoccupied yourself in the car ride here, pointing out all the interesting things you were seeing as Lando drove to the track. You were going to fall asleep if you hadn’t arrived there any earlier. But now that you were... you didn’t think your eyes could get any wider.
“Is that a...” You turned to Lando with twinkling eyes.
“Just go pick your flavour,” he narrowed his eyes.
A squeal fell from your lips and before you knew it, you were hugging Lando tightly. You could feel his arms wrap around your waist, happily accepting your hug. “Thank you,” you murmured next to his ear.
Lando smiled calmly despite his heart beat pounding in his ears. He was sure he could stay like this forever if he could. “You’re welcome. I... It’s so much less than what you deserve, but it’s all I could think to do given the... circumstances.”
You stared at the pavement of the track heavily, Lando’s words swirling around your head. Right... the circumstances. You cleared your throat, pulling away from him even though you could’ve sworn you felt him tighten his grasp momentarily.
“Come on. Pick your flavour or I’m just going to get you all chocolate,” you called out, waking over to the gelato cart he had hired.
Lando sighed, briefly making a disgusted expression. He followed after you with a small smile. Despite the wind, he could still smell you on him.
You greeted the cart owner, excitedly eyeing all the gelato flavours. There were so many to choose from... how were you ever going to pick? “Can I get...”
“She’ll get mango, chocolate, raspberry, and lemon in a cup,” Lando finished, hovering behind you.
You gaped, snapping your head to Lando. “How did you know?”
“Better question is,” Lando started, resting his mouth right above your shoulder and near your ear, “why wouldn’t I?”
You shivered at his words, cheeks burning at the small grin playing on his lips. “I’m not sharing any of mine,” you muttered, moving your eyes to the gelato.
Lando pouted teasingly. “Please,” he sung, tilting his head so you could see him blink his eyes rapidly.
You gulped, taking a step away before you succumbed to his wishes. “I think I’m going to throw up.”
Lando gasped. “So rude!”
You chuckled taking the cup of gelato while thanking the owner. Lando narrowed his eyes at you, ordering his own combination of pistachio, melon, and orange.
You made a face at his cup as he walked towards you. “There is something so wrong with you.”
Lando rolled his eyes, nudging you forwards to the entrance of the track. “Just be quiet and walk.”
━━━━━━━━━━━
You and Lando walked comfortably at your own pace around the track, eating your gelato while he explained parts of the track or its history.
“I’m not gonna lie,” you started, finishing your spoonful of raspberry, “Curva Parabolica makes me feel sick. Every time it came on the TV, I thought I was going to throw up.”
Lando raised a brow, resting his spoon in his cup. “I thought you didn’t watch them?”
It was always Lando’s assumption you didn’t watch the races. Even when you came to them, if there was a camera, you’d flash a smile, otherwise there was no other reason to be there. You were at the podiums because you had to be, not because you wanted to be.
You snorted, looking at him incredulously. “Of course, I watch them. Why wouldn’t I? You’re freaking racing! I’m always so proud of you, no matter where or how you finish. You don’t see me next your mum and dad, cheering you on at the end of the race?”
Of course he did. You were the first person he would look for at a race. And if you weren’t there, he’d look at the camera in hopes you were watching. And all this time... you had been.
Lando’s mouth dried. “I just thought...”
You looked at his face and you could read his mind. “You thought it was fake.”
He blinked, regret washing over his face. “I’m sorry. I couldn’t help it,” he apologised.
You took a spoonful of your mango gelato and eyeing his mournful expression. “It’s okay. If there’s one thing you should know, my proudness and happiness for you isn’t fake. Even if this whole thing is.”
And there it was again. The bitter reminder that this entire relationship was fake. That perhaps the only real thing in your relationship was how you met.
But this was real.
This – the track, the gelato, the conversation – this was real.
Lando sucked in a sharp breath, moving his eyes to the rest of the track as he ate large soon of his melon gelato. He exhaled slowly, trying to remember where he was once again. “Okay... pop quiz! Who was Variante Ascari named after?”
You cleared your throat, pulling on a thoughtful expression. “Um Al.. Alberto Ascari? The Italian driver, right?”
“Thank God someone’s been paying attention,” he joked as you neared the named turn.
You rolled your eyes. “I should thank Fewtrell for that one. Remember that stream he made us join?”
“Yeah,” Lando laughed softly, all the memories hitting him at once. It was really sweet of Max actually. It was a time when some ‘fans’ were being particularly awful to you. Saying you were using Lando for fame because you barely knew anything about the sport.
Max then created a poorly made quiz about Formula 1 and got you and Lando to join. Max and Lando pretended not to know much so you were all in the same boat. And any time the right answer was mention, Lando would occasionally squeeze your leg to give you a clue. The stream was flooded with some of the kindest comments, telling you to ignore everyone else and just focus on your health and your relationship with Lando.
It was one of the moments where you realised how good of a friend Max was. Lando was lucky to have someone who cared for him that much.
Lando looked down at his cup and let out a dramatic sigh.
You didn’t even need to bat an eye towards. “I told you I'm not sharing,” you reminded, quickening your pace.
It didn’t take long for him to catch up. “Please, please. I can see you have like two spoons of mango and lemon. Come on. Sharing is caring.”
“No–Lando! Stop following me!”
All of a sudden, you and Lando were running again. But this time, you weren’t worried about some paparazzi or the destination. It was just you and Lando.
“No offense, but you are not outrunning me,” Lando called out from behind you, running with what you were pretty sure was a smug grin.
You huffed, trying to push your legs further but you could feel him hovering. You came to an abrupt halt. “You’re right. I can’t outrun you,” you smiled, turning to him. “But I can out-eat you.”
Lando’s grin dropped as you combined the two flavours of gelato and plopped them in your mouth. He stood there, dumbfounded while you happily ate the rest.
You replicated his smug grin from earlier and poked your tongue out. “All finished. Sorry,” you shrugged with no sound of an apology hidden in your voice.
Lando swallowed hard, eyes fixated on your mouth. A step closer to you, his body was pressed on yours. His hand travelled up your neck, the other hand resting on your waist to pull you closer.
You inhaled slowly, hairs on your body standing straight. You tried meeting his eyes but all you could see was him focus on your lips. Instinctively, your hand fell to his arm around your waist, fastening yourself to him.
“I... I think I can still taste it,” he said, voice hoarse and dry. He wasn’t sure if he could even recognise himself.
“Lando... I–we're not on the clock,” you whispered, unwilling to untangle yourself from his grasp.
“I don’t care.”
In the blink of an eye, Lando’s lips were smashed against yours and fuck, his lips were soft and pillowy as usual. Your stomach churned upon feeling Lando pushing you closer to him, if that were possible. His fingers were cold against your skin, creeping under the hem of your shirt to rub tingling circles onto your skin.
A breathy gasp fell from your lips while goosebumps littered your skin. Lando took advantage of this, groaning against your lips as he darted his tongue to explore your mouth. He could feel himself press into you, rubbing his hard-on against you.
You think now would be an appropriate time to self-implode. You had all the signs. Burning skin, dizziness, and the lost ability to breathe.
Lando almost buckled under your touch as your fingers scoured his taut torso, lingering dangerously close to his v-line.
“Holy fuck,” he gasped, pulling away to rest his forehead on yours. His hands had found themselves holding yours, preventing you from undoing him any further. His chest heaved, rising up and down while he stared at your swollen lips and moved his eyes to meet yours.
“I want this to be real,” he pleaded, moving your hand to his face. “Please.”
“Lando,” you started but he didn’t want to hear it.
He shook his head. “I think I’m falling in love with you. I think I have been since we first met,” he sighed out, collecting himself. “I don’t want to do this when it’s fake. I want to be with you because what I feel is real. Because you drive me crazy and I can’t imagine a future without you.”
You blinked, feeling his hand trail over yours as you caressed his face. Your heart raced loudly in your ears. How were you supposed to respond to that? “I...”
“Please say something. Anything,” he begged, blue eyes heavily staring down at you.
“As long as you promise to walk with me on every track. Oh, and get me gelato.”
Lando let out the biggest sigh of relief, almost collapsing against your hand. His head dipped down, pressing his lips against you once again, taking you into a long kiss. He sighed, pulling away.
His arms fell around your waist as he grinned at you. “I promise.”

valentine’s day is a day of love, a day of romance, a day of thoughtful gifts and heartfelt gestures. at least, that’s what it’s supposed to be. in reality, it’s a chaotic mess of procrastination, poor planning, and half-baked ideas that somehow still turn out endearing.
gojo, for one, is convinced he’s got it all figured out—until he realizes a week before that he, in fact, does not. cue the absolute frenzy of online shopping, where express shipping fees start resembling down payments on luxury cars. you have never seen someone willing to pay $250 to ensure a singular plushie arrives on time, but here you are, witnessing gojo justify it with “it’s the principle, babe.” and when one of the plushies arrives looking like a legally-dubious cousin of hello kitty, affectionately dubbed "salutations feline," you know better than to ask questions. you just nod, accept the gift, and pretend it’s exactly what you wanted.
toji is really trying. genuinely. he even set aside money in a little envelope weeks ago, determined to get you something nice. unfortunately, he has the memory of a goldfish and cannot, for the life of him, remember where he put it. after turning the apartment upside down in a mild panic, he sighs, gives up, and buys you flowers instead. the disappointment in his eyes is real. but then, in a turn of events that could only be described as divine intervention, he finds the envelope wedged in the back of his underwear drawer while changing after a couple’s shower. he immediately drags you out for a fancy dinner, smug as hell, as if he planned it this way all along.
nanami is not here to play games. doubting his valentine’s day preparedness is like doubting if gravity will continue existing tomorrow. the moment you started dating, he created an excel sheet of your preferences. the list includes everything—things you’ve mentioned wanting in passing, your favorite colors, gift ideas you’ve sent him, and couple activities you’ve liked on social media. by the time february rolls around, he is four and a half weeks ahead of schedule. while others are scrambling for last-minute gifts, nanami is already wrapping yours in high-quality, sustainably sourced paper with a perfectly tied bow. he will not reveal how much thought went into it—he simply hands you the gift, kisses your forehead, and tells you to enjoy.
geto does not do things halfway. when he plans a valentine’s day surprise, he plans a valentine’s day surprise. there is a live band. live dancers. a live chef preparing a five-course meal. for a brief moment, you wonder if you’ve stepped into a wedding reception. as much as you love the grandeur, a part of you wishes there was something more intimate—something just between the two of you. it isn’t until he gets down on one knee and pulls out a ring that it all makes sense. the hidden cameras, the elaborate setup—he wasn’t just planning valentine’s day. he was planning the moment he’d ask you to spend forever with him. naturally, you burst into tears, because what else is there to do when suguru geto proposes?
choso, bless his heart, approaches valentine’s day with pinterest. a mistake. the sheer volume of ideas overwhelms him, and suddenly, he has 598 saved pins and no clear direction. still, he tries. he does 60 of them—which is a lot—but somehow, he still sits there at the end of the night, shoulders slumped, muttering, “i should’ve done more.” you, surrounded by candlelit dinners, handmade gifts, and personalized love letters, have to physically hold his face and tell him he has done enough.
sukuna does not do valentine’s day. he has made this abundantly clear. and yet, despite his insistence that it’s a “pointless holiday,” you notice he’s a little different that day. his usual sharp comments are softer, his touches linger a little longer, and he does things for you without being asked. no grand declarations, no fancy gifts, just small acts of care—holding you closer, making sure you’re comfortable, easing up on the teasing (only slightly). and while he still grumbles about the holiday, you catch him staring at you a little too long, the corner of his lips twitching up in something dangerously close to affection. maybe next year, he’ll actually acknowledge the holiday. but for now, this is enough.

hey jade!!! do u think we can get a little something with bombshell and spencer 🙏🙏 missing them
—you and spencer get serious. 1.3k
“So,” you say, holding two hands behind your back, shoulders tight in a vague attempt at flirting, “come here often?”
“To Austin?” Spencer nods. “This is the tenth time we’ve been in the last five years.”
“Big city. Thirteenth most populous city in the entire country, right? That’s a lot of crime.”
Spencer smiles approvingly. “Right.”
“At least this one was easy.”
You’re standing in the sunshine outside of a bar near the hangar, waiting for the jet to finish loading, the rest of the team inside drinking a round of well-earned drinks. Spencer was in good spirits but didn’t seem to love the ruckus, so you’d made some excuse about feeling light-headed and promised you’d be alright as long as Spencer came outside with you.
You don’t not feel dizzy. You’ve been under the weather all week. Spencer’s concern has had moments of obviousness. He’s roped it in for now, only evidence of his worry the lack of space between you.
You’re enjoying the game you’re playing for now. You lovingly ignore him. “What’s a guy like you doing in a place like this?”
“Uh, trying to get home, honestly.”
“Yeah?”
“See, I know this girl,” he says, his voice a soft pattern of itself, “and she’s– she’s great. She really is. She’s smart, and she’s beautiful, and she’s stubborn as a mule when she wants to be. She won’t let me take care of her out here. I’m hoping when we get back, she’ll let me take her home. So I can look after her.” He has no intention of playing the ignoring game with you.
“Stubborn as a mule,” you murmur, leaning back against the bar’s brick exterior, lulled into security by his voice, and the sweet breeze that passes over you, the right side of cold as the sun begins to set behind the buildings across the street and beyond.
“You like that one?”
“No. Not my favourite comparison.”
Spencer holds his hand out across the way, palm up but low, his fingers still. “Stubborn,” he says as you slip your hand into his, “but in a good way.”
“…I don’t need you to take care of me,” you say softly.
“But I want to.”
You don’t know why you’ve been struggling with Spencer lately. It certainly isn’t something he’s done wrong, and it’s not the first time he’s wanted to look after you. But things between you are looking serious. Just a few weeks ago you took the ‘next step’, long overdue, and you told him you loved him. You do.
“If I did something–”
You wince and he stops. You knew he’d bring it up eventually, but it doesn’t make it hurt less. What a mess you’re making. “You didn’t do anything,” you say.
“Are you sure?”
“No, Spencer, it’s not you, really, it’s not, it’s me–”
The face he makes is of unbridled horror. You’re worried he’ll snatch his hand back. He squeezes tighter. “What are you saying?” he asks, his frown a pout that turns your heart.
“I’m not breaking up with you. I’m sorry, that was a fright wasn’t it?” you ask, squeezing him too, pulling at him as you slip against his side. Your faces are close enough to kiss. “Not breaking up. I can’t describe how much I don’t want that.”
“But?” he asks.
“But… there’s been some chafing, lately, on my end.”
“‘Cos of me?”
“Aw, Spencer,” you murmur, turning your front into his side as you hold your free hand over his heart, “no, baby. No… No, it’s not because of you, or– it’s not your fault. I was alone for a while before you, and I guess being sick just reminded me that things are different.”
“And you don’t like it?”
“Spencer, please,” you plead gently, rubbing your thumb against his chest. “You haven’t done anything wrong. I love you–”
“I love you.”
“–and I’m not asking for anything here, not space, not for you to change, I just want to tell you how I’ve been feeling so you can stop confusing it for something you might’ve done wrong.”
Some days being with Spencer feels like you’re the same soul in two different bodies. It’s moments like this that remind you of how human he is, the depth of his feelings, and how much he cares about you —how much you can affect his life. He’s frowning like he’s not far from tears and you regret ever bringing it up in the first place, but you have to finish now.
“It’s scary, for me, sometimes, to be with you,” you say eventually.
“For me, too.”
“I worry I’ll get used to you and one day I won’t have you.”
“I promise you will,” he says.
“But you don’t know that.”
“For however long you’ll let me have you, you can have me,” he says simply.
You tease a line into his chest with your two fingertips. “I love how you look after me. There’s nothing like it. I fall asleep sick and I wake up knowing you’re there to make me a cup of tea, and to help me shower when my head’s hurting, you don’t let me down. You know that?”
“So why can’t I look after you tonight?” he asks, eyes dark as pine tar.
“You can. You think I’m not going home with you?”
“I wasn’t sure.”
“Please let me come home with you.”
Spencer lets his forehead drop gently against yours. The breeze runs a loop around your legs and cools your too-warm shoulders, pulling your blouse from clammy skin. For a while, you wait for him to speak, but when he doesn’t you figure you’ve overwhelmed him with your confession, maybe you’ve upset him.
He rubs the tips of your noses together slightly.
“Are you still dizzy?”
“No.” Your voice is a croak. “I’m sorry.”
“For what, being scared of the future? It’s okay.”
“I think it sounded like it was your fault.”
“I won’t take it that way if you don’t mean it like that,” he promises. “I just want to look after you, angel. I want to be with you. I’m scared all the time that one day I won’t have you, but then you smile at me or you–” He laughs. “You tug on my hair trying to make me kiss you and I don’t feel that way for a while. I’m sorry if I made you worry.”
“The only thing that worries me is life.”
“Not much you can do about that,” he says.
“I know. I didn’t mean for it to get to you, too.”
He makes a nice humming sound, says, “I want you to feel better, and come home with me, and I don’t really care if I have to beg. You know I will.”
“You should know you don’t have to beg for anything. Not from me.”
Spencer’s hand comes up to your neck. He holds it carefully, pressing the soft of his cheek against your temple, the other hand working its way behind your back. “And you’re worried I might leave you?” he asks, laughing bashfully as he presses two kisses to whatever bit of skin he can fin, the side of your nose and the soft well under your eye. “When you’re saying stuff like that to me? In public?”
“It’s hardly the worst thing I’ve said to you in public.”
Spencer pulls away to meet your eyes. He's smiling. Worry and love line his gaze. “Do you wanna go find something to eat before we leave?”
“Yeah,” you nod, trying hard not to smile ear to ear. “Let’s go eat.”

steph catley x mccabe!reader | 2.7k | your first valentine's day with Steph
ˏˋ°•*⁀ this is part of the enchanted to meet you universe. this is set before world cup surprises, their first valentine's together as a couple <3 also i am very busy until sunday but wanted a little valentine's day fic for y'all. i might have time to write an alexia x lil mac one too but no promises <3 enjoy!
any and all feedback, comments, reblogs etc are very appreciated and welcome <3
‘Katie,’ You whispered out, ‘...Katie…’ Your older sister, unsuspecting while she slept, you had slowly crept into her room in the middle of the night. You sighed, waking up Katie had always been difficult so you started gently shaking her shoulder, ‘Katie! Wake up!’
‘What-’ Katie blinks, half sitting up, hands up ready to fight whoever is intruding in her room and in the process half pushing you back when she pushed your hands away from her.
‘Katie,’ You whispered a bit more firmly than before, but still a whisper trying to settle your sister who was still on alert.
‘Oh it’s you,’ Katie grumbled and laid back down, closing her eyes and slightly shifting her body away from you, ‘What you want?’ Turning her head back to look your direction, eyebrow slightly raised, a slight glare in her eyes.
‘Do you think she’ll like this?’ Suddenly your voice went small and you fidgeted with the little card you were holding in your hand. You weren’t nervous when you decided to come wake your sister up but now you were wondering if maybe you should’ve waited until at least a few more hours when the sun would make an appearance.
Your sister definitely would’ve been more forgiving and supportive, anyway you were here and already committed to waking her up. So you held out the card in front of her while she just gave you a questioning look, ‘Steph. Do you think Steph will like it?’
‘You woke me up at…,’ Katie blindly reached out for her phone, grimacing as the brightness of her screen lit up her face, ‘...at 3 in the morning to ask me about a…a handmade card?’
‘Katie,’ You whined out when she pushed the card back towards you, not really bothering to look at it. You, ever persistent and just as stubborn as your older sister in getting what you want, held the card back out towards her, ‘There’s more but, I didn’t want to push my luck in actually getting you out of bed,’
‘You and coming into my room in the middle of the night,’ Katie muttered under her breath, it wasn’t a common occurrence but there were plenty of times you’d woken your older sister up at all different hours of the night. Katie didn’t really mind, she’d always be there for you, your protective slightly older sister.
Slowly but surely making a move to get out from the coziness of her blankets into the chill of the night, ‘I’m gonna have to get a lock or just kick you out. Go annoy someone else,’ The way Katie’s lips turned upwards slightly in the corner was all you needed to know she wasn’t actually being serious. You’d be the same if the roles were reversed.
Katie’s eyes went wide when she saw the state of her dining room, ‘Not only did you wake me in the middle of the night, you woke me to show me you destroyed my house,’
‘You’re so dramatic,’ Rolling your eyes at your sister's comments, making your way through the scrap pieces of paper, glitter, markers and tape that littered the room, to pick up what you’d been working on, ‘So…?’
Katie’s eyes softened the moment you stood in front of her, the little handmade gift in your arms with a dumb proud look on your face, ‘Alright, give it here,’ Katie begrudgingly held out her hand so you could give her the gift so she could look at i properly. The more she looked at it the more she couldn’t be mad with you for waking her up, in all honesty Katie could hardly be mad at you for long anyway there was just something about you that stopped almost anyone from being mad or annoyed with you for a long time.
‘Mac, Steph is gonna love this,’ You let out a soft sigh, your eyes hopeful as Katie gave the gift back to you.
‘Yeah? Are you sure?’ There was always a flicker of doubt that crossed over you. Since Alexia you struggled a lot more than you had previously, doubting your actions and second guessing the things you did. You still hadn’t properly let Steph in, struggling to get too close in case things came crashing down suddenly.
You hadn’t been with Steph for a long time, though you know it was definitely long enough that saying ‘I love you’ would be acceptable. Steph was always understanding when it came to you, even without the little warning talk your older sister gave her, you couldn’t be more thankful. It was your first valentine’s together and you hoped that this gift would show and tell Steph that you love her, even if you couldn’t find the words to say it just yet.
You’d come a long way since you moved to England, but these little moments Katie hated when flickers of self doubt ran through your mind knowing where they’d stemmed from, ‘I’m 100% positive. Steph looks at you like you hung the moon and the stars yourself,’ You looked down, letting out a small breath, half a laugh, trying to keep your cheeks from heating up too much, ‘You could probably give her a speck of glitter and she’d talk about how she was the luckiest person in the world,’
Katie had definitely overheard way too many conversations Steph talking about you to Beth. At first she deliberately eavesdropped just to make sure Steph was treating you right but since then she wished she would stop running into that situation. There’s only so many times Katie can stand to hear it, especially since she has to hear it from you all the time.
‘Yeah…yeah you’re right,’ Your smile was bashful, always was when you thought of Steph. There was a moment where you didn’t think you would ever feel this way about someone again. After a long few years, you found and let yourself have that happiness again.
‘I always am,’ Katie smirked while stifling a yawn, a reminder at how early it was and that the two of you should definitely be asleep, ‘Now my house better not look like a glitter bomb exploded when I get up later,’ You rolled your eyes as Katie made her way back up the stairs to her room but not before shouting back down at you, ‘And maybe try to get some sleep,’
‘Yes ma,’ You shouted back up at her, laughing when you heard Katie’s door shut a bit more loud than normal.
ₓ˚. ୭ ˚○◦˚.˚◦○˚ ୧ .˚ₓ
‘Stephy, hi,’ You wrapped your arms around Steph’s waist, giving her a quick little hug, greeting her since you’d just arrived at training, ‘Happy Valentine’s day,’ You spoke softly, sitting next to her so your shoulders were touching and handing her a singular rose you’d picked up on your way to training that morning.
‘Aw, happy Valentine's day,’ Steph took the rose from you, giving you a kiss on your cheek, ‘You look like you haven’t slept,’ Steph commented, her hand brushing some stray hairs back from your face, a little bit of worry etched on her face.
‘She hasn’t and neither have I,’ Katie grumbled from the other side of the room. Steph looked between the two of you, silently questioning.
‘Don’t worry about it. You know how Katie is-’
‘Dramatic,’ Steph finished off what you were saying, sharing a laugh between the two of you before you were being hit with a shoe that came at you from across the room.
‘Hey!’ Katie just shot you a look that said you had it coming before she left the pair of you, ‘Anyway, we still on for tonight?’
‘Of course, I wouldn't miss getting to spend a night with you,’ Steph leaned her head on your shoulder, looking down at the rose that she was still holding on to. She was trying to stay calm but still every time she was close to you, her stomach erupted in that nice fuzzy, full of butterflies kind of feeling. Steph was grateful you gave her a chance, she didn’t know everything that happened in Barcelona, but she saw a lot of the aftermath when you moved.
After training Steph drove the two of you back to where you were staying with Katie, your hand placed on top of hers, lacing your fingers together. Katie wasn’t going to be home, you made sure of it, wanting to make your first Valentine’s day night together as special as you could. You’d already set up everything before you left this morning, triple checking everything so you didn’t forget a single thing.
‘I’m sorry we aren’t going out or doing anything particularly special,’ The nerves started taking over, you were worried that this wouldn’t be special enough, or just enough in general for Steph. You were putting a lot of pressure on yourself for tonight to be perfect.
‘Shh, love, a night in with you is perfect and just what I- we both need. I don’t care what we do, as long as I’m with you,’ Steph gently turned you so you were facing her, a hand lifting your head so you were looking at her. You could see in her eyes that she meant every word. Steph leant her forehead against yours, ‘Hi,’
You let out a giggle, brushing your nose softly against hers, ‘Hi,’ Your lips finding hers, a quick but firm kiss. Pulling away, or at least Steph tried to, but not before you pulled her back in for another little kiss, holding onto her so she wouldn’t go further than just in the doorway, ‘You gotta close your eyes,’
You also covered Steph’s eyes with your hands just to make sure she wouldn’t try to sneak a peek at your surprise for her. Trying to lead Steph throughout the house, whisper yelling at coopurr when he wouldn’t move out of the way, you didn’t want Steph to trip over anything and he just wasn’t cooperating with you.
You smiled at Steph’s laughs, you’d complained about the cat quite a few times to her, how he was always out to get you but anytime Steph was around he was always an angel, but to you was a different story, ‘Leave poor Coopurr alone, he just wants to see his favourite person,’ Steph teased
‘I’ll tell Katie you said that,’ Successfully clearing the path to where you wanted to lead Steph to.
‘You wouldn’t,’ Steph had already taken her little sister from her, she wouldn’t risk Katie hearing she was taking her son too, they still had to play together.
‘Try me babe,’ You smirked when Steph gasped a little in surprise when she felt your lips on hers. Your hands slowly uncovered her eyes, resting them on her waist and pulling Steph against you. You pulled away, slightly out of breath but still holding Steph in your arms. Her eyes widened when she took a quick glance over your shoulder.
‘All that…for me?’ Steph was in shock looking at everything you had set up. A teddy bear holding a bouquet of flowers, some heart shaped chocolates and chocolate covered strawberries, heart shaped balloons and in the middle of it all were three neatly wrapped presents. Presents you’d rewrapped a million times each, wanting to make sure they were wrapped perfectly.
It really looked like a scene from those cheesy rom coms the two of you had indulged in many times together. You’d gone all out but Steph meant the world to you and you needed her to know, ‘It’s our first Valentine’s together, I wanted to make it special for you,’ You had your arm around Steph’s waist, keeping her pulled into your side while she took it all in.
‘You make every day special,’ Steph leaned her head on your shoulder, turning her head to look at you. You looked down, smiling softly at her, ‘Thank you my love,’
‘Anything for you Stephy,’ You whispered, the music in the background seemed dull, the two of you lost in each other, ‘So which one did you want to open first?’ You nodded towards the presents, nervous but eager to see what Steph thought of them, in particular the one you had made for her.
Steph let out a small laugh, her hand gently squeezing yours and shuffling close to you, as if she could get any closer, ‘I’ve already got my favourite present right here,’ Turning her head she brushed her lips against your neck, a shiver shot down your spine. You bit your lip, closing your eyes briefly to try to compose yourself. Though it was always hard around Steph.
‘You’re my favourite too,’ You smiled sheepishly, slight redness appearing over your cheeks. Steph kissed your neck more firmly, her lips lingering. You could feel her smile against your skin and it was enough to send your heart racing, ‘Alright, no more teasing,’ You whined softly, feeling her press more kisses against your neck.
Steph reluctantly pulled away and let you lead her to sit on the couch. Your hands shook slightly as you picked up the present you’d spent hours making, hoping that holding onto it would make the shaking less noticeable. You knew Steph noticed when her eyes softened, though to be fair to Steph her eyes always softened when she looked at you but you could tell there was something different behind her eyes.
‘Hey,’ Steph spoke softly, her hand resting against your thigh once you’d sat next to her, ‘It’s just me,’ She smiled at you reassuringly. You relaxed as much as you could almost instantly, the effect Steph had on you, you both loved and felt terrified over it.
‘I just really hope you’ll like it,’ You looked down, placing the gift on Steph’s lap, ‘And if you don’t- I- There’s a few more, maybe you’ll like one of those,’ Nervously you rambled, a habit that would overcome you every time you got nervous or anxious.
‘Mac baby, it’s from you,’ Steph held the present, her smile never wavering, ‘I’m going to love it,’ You nodded your head, taking a deep breath. You still hated how unsure of yourself you could get, maybe one day you’ll get back to being your usually confident self more often than not.
While Steph was opening the present, your eyes were glued to your hands, not wanting to see any potential rejection at the present you made. Though what you really missed was Steph’s mouth opening in surprise, the few little tears that welled up in the corners of her eyes and the love she looked at every page with.
You spent hours putting together a little scrapbook. A scrapbook that held all the memories and love you had for each other. From the trips and memories you made while you were ‘just friends’ to the last few months that you’d officially been together for. You included Steph’s favourite colours amongst the markers, paper and glitter that you used. Lots of hearts over each page. So many photos of the two of you from over the last year.
‘Wow- I-’ Steph couldn’t find the words to tell you how much it meant to her. Your eyes wide when you finally looked her way, expecting to see a form of hatred or disgust, instead you were met with her lips on yours.
Blindly Steph put the scrapbook to the side, pushing you down against the couch, your lips never leaving each other. Your hands found their way to her hips, fingers grazing underneath the hem of her shirt, dancing along Steph’s bare skin. Steph put all of her emotion and feelings for you into the kiss, deepening it, pressing herself against you more.
Your cheeks were flushed, lips swollen when you finally broke away from each other, besides for the little pecks you’d both give, never getting enough, ‘So you liked it…’ You let out a breathy laugh, voice trailing off still getting your breath back.
‘More than liked it babe,’ Steph’s hand rested against your cheek, her thumb rubbing gently, ‘You’re too sweet and thoughtful. I really like you…’
‘I really like you too,’ There was a look of understanding shared in that moment. The words you both wanted to say were on the tips of your lips, even though neither of you actually said it, you could see it in each other's eyes and that was enough for now.

a/n: i just watched love actually for the first time and i NEEDED a hughes fic of the scene of david trying to find natalie so here i am 😋

"honey, you'll love it there. now i know it's different from our normal summer in colorado, but this is just better for us."
"so we're going to michigan cause we're poor and you don't want to deal with dad anymore?"
"y/n!"
"what? it's the truth. i'm well aware you got fired, and that's why we're driving thirty minutes away to go live in some air bnb beach house for the summer. don't sugarcoat it mom."
with those words, y/n stands from her bed, and walks out the door, leaving her mother there. her mother sighs. she expected this kind of reaction, but was sure she wouldn't have to be giving her daughter the same lecture she's been giving her all week, the morning of their trip. her mother stands, walking down the hall towards her son's room, letting him know about their departure.
in all twenty years of y/n's life, herself, her brother, and mother and father would go on the most wonderful and beautiful summer vacations to colorado. her aunt and uncle on her dad's side lived there, and it was amazing. y/n and her brother, thomas, got along well with their cousins, and enjoyed the slight climate change when they stepped out of the colorado airport.
but now that's changed.
y/n's mother, mary, had gotten fired from her previous job. why you may ask? she had an affair with the boss.
y/n couldn't help but laugh when she told her children the news. how predictable. it makes sense now as to why the family wasn't going to colorado. mary didn't want to deal with the after math of her personal issues. y/n's father hasn't been in the picture since. two months without the one person who y/n really cared about left her life, and now she's dealing with her mother's stupid consequences.
so she sits in the backseat of the car, vowing to never sit next to her mother again, waiting for the three of them to leave for the trip to northern michigan.
her younger brother got in the car soonly after shoving his bags in the trunk. things between the two have changed, to say the least. before, they rarely spoke. only making light conversation at family dinners, or congratulating each other on any school performances.
but now, they're practically inseparable. neither knew what to do after the affair, but they knew they had to stick together. the night their mother told them, they hid out in y/n's room, where they watched an old 80s movie and binged on snacks y/n had hidden away. it made them feel normal.
"alright, are we ready?" mary asks, earning a small response from thomas, as y/n just puts her headphones in her ears.
thirty minutes of listening to music is practically heaven to y/n, and is soon ruined as mary pulls into the driveway of a small summer house. the walls are painted white, but most are fading, showing the original brown slabs underneath. there's dainty lilies and other small flowers in bushes along the porch, and the three now stand in front of a bright yellow door.
y/n and thomas go upstairs to the small hallway, and are quick to assign rooms and unpack.
as thomas is in the middle of unpacking, y/n walks into his room.
"could you tell mom i won't be home for dinner? i'm gonna walk around."
thomas turns to look at her, "so you're just leaving me with her?"
y/n fixes her jacket hood, "i guess you can come," she jokes.
"you think mom will be okay here by herself?"
y/n gives him a pointed look, "do you really think she cared about being alone when she was hooking up with her boss."
thomas grimaces, "ew, gross."
y/n shrugs, "c'mon just throw some shoes on, i'm starving."
the nineteen year old groans as he follows his sisters' orders. the two slip out the front door seamlessly.
"mom must be busy unpacking," thomas notices, as the two begin walking down the street of houses.
ten minutes into their silent walk, thomas whines, "i should've eaten something before we left."
"why don't you look up somewhere to eat. there has to be some good restaurants around here."
thomas grabs his phone, and begins reading off the closest diners and dives. y/n's ears perk up at a decent sounding burger diner, and thomas is quick to list the directions.
the two get there fairly easy, thanks to thomas' pretty good directional skills, and are quick to sit at the counter. thomas claims the only bright green stool, making y/n sit in the yellow one next to him.
there's only a few others in the diner. an older couple occupying the booth to their left, a family of five at two tables at the end, and three others sitting at the counter with them.
a nice waitress is fast to take their orders, and now the two sit there, sipping on their respective sodas. thomas is busy looking around the place, taking in the bright and whimsical colors of the 50s inspired diner.
y/n however is finding a peculiar interest in her plastic cup.
until a voice breaks her out of her trance.
"are you two locals, or tourists?"
y/n and thomas both turn their heads, being met with a boy with long brown hair, sitting on the end of the trio of boys besides them. the one in the middle chuckles at his bluntness, while the other smacks him in the head.
"sorry?" y/n speaks up.
"you don't look familiar, and we usually know everyone around this neighborhood," the stranger explains.
"tourists," thomas answers the previous question.
"well we're in an airbnb, just for the summer," y/n elaborates.
the stranger nods, "so tourists."
y/n and thomas nod.
the waitress from before comes back with the siblings' orders, and for some reason the stranger continues the conversation.
"you two have anywhere to be tonight?"
y/n just sends him a look, while thomas responds, "no, i don't think so."
"great! we're going to the annual beach bonfire, you guys are more than welcome to join."
thomas looks at y/n, and she just shrugs.
"i'll just let mom know," thomas reasons.
"cool," the stranger replies, "i'm jack."
"y/n," she states.
"thomas," he sends a smile.
"this is luke," jack points to the one right next to him, "and this is quinn," he now points to the one on the end.
"you wouldn't happen to watch hockey do you?" luke pipes up, while quinn just sighs at his brothers' bluntness.
thomas and y/n both shake their heads, resulting in jack and luke high fiving. they honestly hated when people knew who they were. now of course they were grateful for their fans, but they'd rather people be friends with them for them, and not their job.
"are you guys leaving soon?" thomas asks, bringing up the bonfire again.
luke nods, "yeah, we can wait for you guys to finish eating."
it's as if a flip switched in thomas' head, making him shovel his burger and fries in his mouth faster than before.
"you are disgusting," y/n mutters, as thomas now stands from his bar stool, walking towards the not so strangers.
jack and quinn stand with thomas, and begin to walk out the diner.
y/n sighs, now trying to finish her meal to catch up with the others.
"i could wait for you," luke slides into the stool next to her, "i know jack and quinn wouldn't dare leave without me," he laughs.
she sends him a thank you, as he simply takes one of her fries.
she finishes her meal at a normal pace again, and begins taking her wallet out, before luke pauses her movement by placing his hand on her wrist.
"we sort of trashed your dinner with your brother, it's on me," he smiles.
the gesture takes y/n off gaurd, "oh, uh, thank you."
y/n and luke finally meet the others outside the diner, and jack begins leading the group towards their usual beach.
luke and y/n stay towards the back of the group, while jack and quinn are showing thomas everything he may need to know about the small city.
"so how do you guys know each other?" y/n asks.
luke can't help but laugh, not used to the question.
"we're brothers, actually."
"wait seriously?"
luke nods, "yep. i'm the youngest, jack's the middle, and quinn's the oldest."
"how old are you guys?"
"twenty one, thwenty three and twenty five. what about you guys?" luke gestures to thomas.
"i'm the oldest, and thomas is my only brother. i'm twenty, he just turned nineteen."
"and you said you guys are in an airbnb this summer?" luke questions.
y/n nods, "yeah, it's a pretty small house, and it's on the stupidest street name."
"well now i have to know the name," luke interrupts.
"family avenue," y/n recites, remembering the bright green sign she saw when her mother turned on the street of their destination.
luke's eyebrows furrow, "why is that stupid?"
y/n chuckles dryly, "my family hasn't exactly feeled like a family for the past two months."
luke now nods, not wanting to pry into any of the girls' family business.
luke goes to ask her another question, just wanting to get to know her more, but jack exclaims that they arrived to the beach. the group is met with a roaring bonfire in the middle of the beach. maybe fifteen people are scattered around, mingling and drinking whatever concoction is sloshing inside red solo cups. jack continues showing thomas around, while quinn wanders off to a group of people he seems to know well.
"you can hang out with me if you want," luke offers as him and y/n walk around the fire to a less busy space. "jack and quinn always seem to abandon me at these things."
y/n laughs, "i'm usually the one abandoning thomas."
the two begin to sit in the sand, but luke stops just as they're about to touch the beige grains.
"what are you doing?" y/n wonders, watching luke take his hoodie off. she can't help but inaudibly gasp at the faint outline of his abs she can see as his shirt picks up slightly.
"so you don't get any sand in your shorts," luke pats his hoodie that's now layed out next to him.
she thanks him for the second time that night, not used to someone she's just met to be so nice to her.
⋆ ˚ 。 ⋆ ୨୧ ˚
the following morning, y/n woke up with probably hundreds of text from the middle hughes brother, regretting giving the three her number as they departed last night.
all of jack's messages were asking if she was awake yet, if she and her brother wanted to go on their boat with them, and asking about any of her favorite snacks.
it wasn't even nine am, yet jack seemed to be living the day away.
just as she was about to respond, a knock echoed in her room. thomas explains it's him on the other side, and y/n mumbles a welcoming as her face is still smushed up against her pillow.
"can we go on the brothers' boat with them please," thomas drags out the last word.
"jack texted you too?"
thomas nods, "oh yeah, probably twenty times before i woke up."
"he's insane. doesn't he know people like to sleep in?"
the two chuckle, but thomas asks his sister his question again. the girl is quick to respond positively.
"anything to get out of this house. it was awkward enough walking in on mom still awake in the living room last night."
thomas agrees, "yeah. honestly i didn't things could get more awkward."
the two disperse, and begin getting ready. y/n makes sure to actually respond to jack now, letting him know her and thomas will be there soon. jack sends her his address just as she calls for thomas at the bottom of the stairs.
"jesus how far do these guys live? and why are we walking everywhere?" thomas complains.
"it's only a fifteen minute walk calm down, plus it's nice outside. and do you really want to ask mom to take the car when all she's gonna do is ask a ton of questions we really don't want to answer."
"okay yeah, i see your point."
y/n knocks on the wooden door of the address jack had given her, and her and her brother are met with quinn standing on the other side.
"hey you guys actually made it," he welcomes them inside.
quinn gives them a breif tour, before guiding them out back and down the dock towards their boat.
"holy shit," thomas exclaims, causing y/n to his his arm. "sorry! i've just never known anyone with a boat like this before."
jack and luke turn to see the siblings making their way down the dock. jack grabs their bags, as luke helps y/n onto the boat.
she begins to stumble as she steps inside, but luke catches her, his hand grazing over her waist ever so gently.
"hi," she greets quietly.
"hey," he smiles.
"lovebirds, move," jack demands, making the two chuckle or choke on air as he pushes his way towards the front of the boat.
quinn and thomas make conversation towards the back of the boat, while luke, y/n and jack talk near the driver's seat. jack is efficient when he finally pulls into a clearing, with a few other boats or jet skis passing them.
"so you guys just chill out here? like all day?" thomas asks as they all begin making their way to the back of the boat.
"yeah, pretty much," jack responds.
"that's awesome."
as everyone was slipping shirts and hats off, luke couldn't help but let his gaze fall over to y/n. of course he thought she was pretty when the two met yesterday, but seeing her in a red two-piece swimsuit was making his heart beat irregularly fast.
taking him out of his trance, jack falls into the water, thomas and quinn following soon after.
"after you m'lady," luke jokes, gesturing towards the end of the boat waiting for the remaining two passengers.
after probably six hours of swimming, multiple cannonball competitions, exploring and snacking on anything the brothers brought in the cooler, the five are sitting on the back of the boat. quinn's sipping on an hour old beer, starting to get warm from the now setting sun. thomas was finishing up a bag of chips, while luke was talking with him. jack and y/n had their feet dangling in the water below them.
"people who get pushed in the water, say what?" jack gets out as humanly possible as he can.
"wait what?" y/n asks, as her eyebrows scrunch together. however before she can begin to comprehend what jack had said, his hand is already on her back pushing her towards the water.
she lets out a yelp, not ready to be met with the colder water, thanks to the sun being hidden behind a close group of large rocks.
"dude!"
"what's your problem?"
"what?" jack shrugs, "c'mon she's fine."
y/n was not fine.
because she was wasn't expecting to go back in the water, she certainly didn't have enough air in her lungs, meaning she took in air when she was being pushed in. now resulting in the girl having a coughing fit as she emerged from the water.
"what the hell jack?" she gets out in between coughs.
"you looked bored!" he tries to reason.
once y/n's coughing fit has subsided, quinn speaks up, "are we all ready to start heading back?"
"wait!" y/n calls out, still treading water, "can someone go with me to go look for shells?"
"shells?" jack questions.
"someone people collect cds, or action figures, or flowers. y/n has her shells," thomas explains.
"luke, go with her," quinn states, "i don't want to have a search party."
luke is quick to comply, getting back in the water and swimming towards y/n. he knows a good spot where she can find her needed collectables, and begins swimming in that direction.
luke ends up guiding her towards a large rock formation, one with a flowing waterfall covering up the opening.
"it's just in there," he explains, pointing towards the waterfall.
the two swims under the waterfall, now being met with the much more quiet and dark small cave. they feel rocks beneath them, making them stand as the begin to walk futher inside.
"it's beautiful in here," y/n admits while looking around.
the sound of the waterfall is practically muffled, and the reflection of the water shines above the rocks above her head.
luke however is noticing the way she looks. this is the most peaceful he's seen her in the past two days. he watches as she starts looking around for shells, as he finally responds, "yeah, it is," without taking his eyes off her.
he helps her on her scavenger hunt and the two are surprised at how many small shells are scattered around the cave.
"how many are you looking for?" luke asks, grabbing a few more and putting them in his pocket.
"do you have pockets?"
"yeah," he responds, following her deeper in the cave.
"then however many can fit inside," she turns back and smiles at him.
as soon as she fills her hand, she walks the small length back towards luke. she slows, looking over how heavenly the boy in front of her seems. his hair is now damp, his curls already starting to form again as they dry. there's droplets of water sticking to his chest and arms. and god his thighs. y/n has to avert her eyes before she feels her cheeks starting to warm up.
"here," she pulls his attention, holding out her closed hand.
there skin touches as she passes the shells into luke's hand. he's careful to put them in his now full pocket, until he's looking back at the girl.
the two stare at each other for a moment, as the outside world seems to fade away. luke takes in a short sharp breath, as he realizes what's happening to him. it's only happened to him once before, but he's fallen for y/n. or love at first sight, as some would call it.
there's just something about her the draws luke closer; closer than he wants to admit out loud.
the way her hair is naturally drying, and starting to fall over her shoulders. the way the water is now reflecting off her eyes, as if that was the thing making luke more infatuated. the way she's looking back at him.
y/n can't not stare at luke. her breathing quickens at the sight of him. how he slightly towers her, making her bend her neck less than three inches up to meet his eyes. how soft his lips look after he sticks his tongue out to wet them. how close they've seemed to get to each other without speaking a word.
she looks down at the feeling of luke's hand latching onto hers. his long fingers leaving trails of newfound determination on her skin.
"luke," she whispers, not wanting to break any sort of bubble they've sorted around themselves.
silently, luke steps closer, reaching his hand up to cradle the back y/n's neck. within a second his lips are on hers. y/n's hands almost instinctively travel towards luke's abdomen, grazing over the faint lines over his torso, making her gasp against his lips. luke uses the action as an excuse to slip his tongue between her lips, deepening the kiss.
luke begins to pull away, but y/n chases his lips, stepping onto her tip-toes to get another taste of him.
"y/n," luke chokes out, moving his arms down to her shoulders, making her back away on her own accord.
y/n knows that look and sound too well. the feeling of being pushed away, literally and figuratively in this case.
before luke can begin to explain himself, y/n speaks over him, "we should um-" she steps back further away from luke, not daring to look him in the eyes, "we should head back."
luke sighs, but nods, cursing at himself over and over as they go back the way they came.
he makes sure all of the collected shells stay put in his pockets as he enters the water, and leads the way back to the parked boat.
"took you guys long enough," quinn jokes as he notices his younger brother get to the boat first, however he doesn't help y/n up behind him.
"you find your shells?" thomas questions.
y/n nods, "yeah, loads."
her brother is quick to notice the large difference in her behavior before and after she left the boat, but doesn't question it in the presence of the others.
quinn starts the boat back up, without giving any proper warning, and without making sure everyone is sitting.
the sudden movement causes y/n to stumble, as she was still standing. of course luck is totally on her side tonight after the events from the past ten minutes, as she ends up falling back and into luke's lap. despite their interesting circumstances, luke's arms reach out to grab her, steadying her on his leg.
"sorry," she mutters, while scooting over to sit next to him instead.
"all good," he quietly replies, not even sure if she heard him.
⋆ ˚ 。 ⋆ ୨୧ ˚
once quinn parked the boat back at their dock, y/n stands as soon as possible, claiming they have to be home for a "family dinner".
thomas is immediately confused, reminding her how shit their home life has been recently, but regrets it as the three hughes' brothers offer to let them spend the night at their house. y/n declines, not wanting to be around luke anymore than she has to be.
no, she didn't hate the kiss. in fact she loved the kiss. she loved how safe she felt in luke's arms, despite only knowing him for less than a week. she loved the feeling of luke's lips on hers, and only wanted to feel it again. what had she done wrong?
she doesn't let the thoughts consume her too badly as she practically drags thomas off the boat and through the backyard.
"are you okay?" he begins to question, now out of ear shot from the three brothers finally stepping out of the boat. "what happened back there with luke? you looked like you wanted to cry or scream or throw up when you got back to the boat."
"i'm fine," y/n responds.
"obviously you're not fine. why would you say we have a family din-"
"thomas, i said i'm fine."
at her tone, thomas quickly gets the memo and shuts his lips as they made their way around the hughes' house, and in the direction of their own summer house.
"um, care to explain what happened in the cave rusty?" jack questions his younger brother, using the nickname he knows luke's despises. the three bothers made it back inside and the two older siblings were standing in front of luke who was sitting on the couch, beginning their much needed interrogation.
"i kissed her," he simply replies, not meeting their eyes.
jack's eyes widened as quinn just laughed.
"that's what made you guys act like- well, that?" jack emphasizes while gesturing to the boat in the backyard.
"i don't know! probably!" luke replies, simply confused.
"did she kiss you back?" quinn asks, sitting down on the ottoman in front of luke.
luke nods, earning a small whistle from jack.
"so what exactly happened?" quinn continued.
"i don't know," luke responds after sighing. "i thought maybe i was pushing her into something. i mean, we literally met yesterday, but i just feel this connection with her. and i thought she felt it too."
a beat of silence passes, until jack speaks up, "you said she kissed you back?"
luke nods.
"so what happened after?"
"i kind of pushed her away."
"idiot," jack mumbles.
quinn covers up his words however, "well, do you think if you explained how you're feeling to her, that could help?"
"i doubt she wants to talk to me right now. she threw herself off the boat to leave."
"so? just go find her, kiss her, and make up."
"wow jack, great advice," luke rolls his eyes.
"actually," quinn turns to jack, "you have a good idea."
"i'm sorry, what did you just say?" it's luke's turn to question quinn.
quinn begins explaining, "she said she has an air bnb here, so obviously she has to be close, especially if they've been walking everywhere."
jack sits besides luke, him and luke taking in quinn's words.
"do you have any idea of where she lives?"
"shit, no," luke responds, making jack groan. luke can't believe he began to believe in their ridiculous plan.
"wait," luke suddenly remembers, "family avenue."
"that'a boy lukey!" jack claps his shoulder, running to grab his shoes and car keys.
"but what if she never wants to see me again?" he calls out to jack, and now to quinn who's stood up.
"you said you feel a connection with her luke. you haven't said that about any girl since samantha from high school, and we all know how bat shit crazy you guys were for each other."
"yeah, so we know y/n can't just be some girl we can let slip out of your hands," jack adds to quinn's words.
"come on! get your shoes on, we have an air bnb to find."
⋆ ˚ 。 ⋆ ୨୧ ˚
"let me guess, you don't know what house?" jack asks luke in the passenger seat, as he pulls up to their desired street. luke shakes his head, as quinn groans in the backseat.
"guess we're knocking," quinn reasons, as him and jack step out of the car.
luke steps out a second later, "i can't believe i'm actually agreeing to your stupid idea."
"do you want to find the love of your life or not?" jack asks him, making like just sigh. "that's what i thought, now c'mon, let's start ringing some doorbells."
the three brothers started knocking and ringing doorbells down the street. luke took one side, while quinn took the other, and jack ran a little down the road.
about twenty doors were knocked on by each brother. no one lucky enough to find the girl they were looking for.
luke had been met with an old lady who looked like he had just woken her up. jack was face to face with a lovely looking man with tattoooes covering his entire body. while quinn was greeted by three children, all questioning him on his hockey skills, claiming their older sister watches him play on tv all the time. all of those different home-owners, but still no y/n.
"this is useless," luke states as the three meet back up in front of a random house.
"why is this street the longest street ever," jack complains. "i don't even think we've made it halfway through these houses."
luke shakes his head in defeat, "let's just go home guys."
quinn grabs luke's shoulder, and points in between him and jack, "did you guys check that one?"
luke and jack turn to be met with an old white house. the paint is chipped in mulitple places, but it seems like the owners tried covering up the problem areas by planting lilies around the porch.
"it can't hurt to try," jack shrugs, "what's one more house lukey?"
luke takes the pathway up the driveway and the steps leading to the house. he knocks on the yellow door.
an older woman opens the door, and the hope starts spilling from luke's eyes, but nevertheless he asks the question he's repeated so many times tonight.
"hi ma'am, sorry to bother you tonight, but does y/n live here by any chance?"
the woman's eyebrows furrow, before she turns to yell up the stairs behind her, but still keeps an eye on the boy in front of her.
the girl comes down the stairs reluctantly at the sound of her mothers voice, "what?"
the woman gestures to the door, specifically who was on the other side of the door.
"luke," y/n exclaims, mostly surprised to see him standing in front of her.
"please, let me explain."
y/n steps between her mother and the door, closing it without explaining a single thing to the other woman.
luke inhales, not realizing his brothers' plan would actually work, so he takes a moment to think about his words. as he thinks, he looks over y/n, who's being bathed in the moonlight above them. she's wearing a large shirt with a pair of pajama pants, but luke still think she looks gorgeous.
"i did mean to kiss you earlier," luke starts, "i wanted to kiss you earlier. hell, i really liked kissing you earlier. i'm an idiot for pushing you away after. i guess it was just a habit, because of what happened in the past when i got super close to someone. but you aren't just someone, y/n. that's why i came here to find you, even though it took fucking forever to find your house," luke takes another breath, realizing he's been rambling.
"but the point is, i found you, and i just wanted to explain. y/n i really like you, and i want to make something work between us, please. please just give me another chance. let me make it up to you."
luke is practically out of breath by the time he finishes his speech, nervously running a hand through his hair.
"you know you didn't have to say all of that," y/n calmly responds.
"what?" luke's tone is laced with confusion.
y/n steps closer to him, moving her hands to hold his jaw, making the two lock eyes. luke keeps his hands in his pockets.
"you searching for my house, knocking on god knows how many doors, and wanting to show up was more than enough," she shares, before bringing his head closer and connecting their lips.
luke's hands immediately find home on her waist, pulling her impossibly closer. the kiss is quick to deepen, as y/n turns her head while luke takes the opportunity to slip his tongue between her lips, just like he had done during their first kiss.
however, clapping and whistles break the two apart, making them both turn their heads.
jack and quinn are stood at the end of the driveway.
"nice going rusty!" jack calls out, while quinn continues clapping. they'll take any moment to try and embarrass their younger brother, and the moment couldn't have been any sweeter for them.
luke begins ushering y/n inside her own home, "luke what are you doing?" she laughs.
"quick, just go inside," he mutters in a joking manner, "i'll just sleep here tonight, they'll leave."
"oh is that so?" y/n asks, "how do you know i won't kick you out?"
luke simply leans down and kisses her again once they're inside, "you wouldn't dare," he mumbles against her lips, and y/n swears her heartbeat just skipped three times.
she nods, "yeah, yep you're so right," she practically pulls luke up the stairs towards her room.
outside, jack and quinn begin walking back down the sidewalk to their car.
"best big brothers in the world, say what?" jack gets out as quick as possible.
"what!" him and quinn call out in the night sky, as they high five in triumph.

Hamzah x (fem)reader
Description: It's the reader's birthday and she decided to host a "rager". Her friends are skeptical as she's never been interested in hosting parties. Little do they know, it was all planned with the hope that one person in particular would make an appearance.
a/n: I'm sure you can tell from my profile pic that I'm a huge Charli fan lol. This idea came to me as I was playing this album on repeat. Hope y'all enjoy <3
---
The bass thumped against the walls, the thick air overbearing with the smell of spilled drinks and hot bodies. You had never been one for house parties—especially not the kind filled with strangers you barely knew. But this made the party all that much more appealing right? Tonight was different.
Tonight was a gamble.
Your friends had raised their eyebrows when you’d proposed the idea. "Since when do you throw parties?" Taylor had asked, skepticism lacing her tone. You’d only shrugged, feigning nonchalance, while anticipation clawed at your ribs. You have just recently moved into a new apartment with lots of space, so this could be your chance to show it off. While everyone else thought this was just a random burst of spontaneity, you knew better.
You’d planned every detail of this night with one hope in mind:
that Hamzah would show up.
Hamzah had been your friend for years— at least, that was how you would describe him. You weren't even sure if he felt the same way anymore. Your friendship teetering on the edge of something more but never quite crossing that line. That was until one night you had said a few more words then you should have.
---
It had been late, just the two of you lingering in the glow of streetlights after the rest of your friends had gone home. He always walked you home.
His arms rested in his pockets as he looked down at you smiling while you recited a story you found hilarious.
"Can you believe that? She went that far all for some guy. I can't even imagine."
He chuckled, shaking his head. "I mean, people do crazy things for the people they like."
You laughed, a little breathless, but his smile made your heart skip. It was like there was a quiet understanding between the two of you, a connection that lingered in the spaces between your words.
As we arrived at my apartment, something in the city air made me feel a bit too confident. Suddenly, words tumbled from your lips before you could stop it. "Honestly, I can only imagine going that far if he was someone like you."
Too much.
Hamzah stopped dead in his tracks, mouth agape with wide eyes.
You had let your guard slip.
He hadn’t responded right away. His gaze had flickered, searching yours, his lips parting as if to say something—anything—but nothing came. The silence stretched too long, thick and suffocating, until finally, he had only managed a quiet, "I should go."
___
That was the last you had heard from him in weeks. You were too embarrassed to phone him or go by his house and apologize for making the situation so weird.
You tried not to scan the crowd too obviously, though your heart shot up each time the front door creaked open. Friends mingled, and people you barely knew were making out in corners. Almost everyone was enjoying themselves, dancing in dim lighting without a care in the world. Someone had taken control of the playlist, swapping your mix of what you liked to call, "gay club music" with Nettspend.
Still, no Hamzah.
You were starting to lose hope.
You went outside in an attempt to cool off. The view was the highlight of your new place. The city lights shined brightly as you looked down imagining what the rest of the world was doing tonight.
What he was doing.
Your head turned to see the steam rolling off the newly integrated pool on your balcony. Beside the view, it was your favorite part of the apartment, and one of the main reasons you fought so hard to secure this place. You looked back through the door you came from.
No one seemed to notice you were even gone.
You slowly removed the short dress you were wearing. As you kicked it to the side, you plunged into the warm water.
The warmth of the water wrapped around you, contrasting against the crisp night air. You let yourself float, eyes closed, taking in the sacred peacefulness. You felt your heart start to ache. You weren’t sure if it was the remnants of disappointment or the burn of anticipation that you couldn’t quite shake.
When you finally broke the surface, slicking your hair back and blinking against the city lights, your breath caught in your throat.
Hamzah was there.
Sitting by the edge of the pool, laying back on his arms, watching you with an unreadable expression. His dark eyes bore into yours with an expression almost unreadable The golden glow of the city cast soft shadows across his face, making the moment feel almost unreal.
You suddenly became acutely aware of your lack of clothes.
Your stomach twisted as embarrassment crept up your spine. You opened your mouth to speak, to explain, to maybe make a joke and defuse the tension, but nothing came out. He beat you to it.
“You always do this,” he said in a deep but quiet voice.
Your brows knitted together. “Do what?”
“Run away.”
You swallowed hard, shifting in the water as you hugged your arms around yourself. “I thought you were avoiding me.”
Hamzah let out a breath, shaking his head. “I wasn’t. I just… I needed to think.”
You nodded, though you weren’t entirely sure what to say to that. The air between you buzzed with an unspoken weight, the memory of your last encounter hanging between you like a feeling you couldn't shake.
Then, in the silence, he said it.
“I like you.”
Your heart stuttered.
“I’ve liked you for a while,” he continued, his voice softer now, like he wasn’t entirely sure how to say it. “And I freaked out when you got close because I didn’t know if you felt the same.”
You stared at him, chest rising and falling too quickly. The warmth of the pool did nothing to ease the chill spreading through your veins—not from fear, but from the sheer intensity of his words.
You started to move towards him.
Reaching for the ledge, you pushed yourself up slightly, just enough to get the bottom half of his clothes wet.
The space between you dissolves into nothing. Your fingers found his jaw, your fingers finally meeting at the side of his mouth before leaning in.
The moment his lips met yours, it was like everything clicked into place.
Your mouths moved against each other in fever as if you were both making up for lost time. Which you definitley were.
In one swift movement, he pulled you out of the water completely so that your drenched body was straddling his. The tension that had been lingering for weeks melted in the heat of the kiss. He tasted like the city night and something inherently him—something you had been wanting for longer than you cared to admit. His hands found your waist, fingers pressing into the slick fabric of your bra, grounding you in the reality of it all.
When you finally pulled away, foreheads touching, his breath mingling with yours, you couldn’t help but smile.
"So..." Hamzah said out of breath, "Who’s the lucky guest of honor?”
You shrugged, ignoring the way your pulse betrayed you. “Dunno. Just… felt like celebrating.”
He chuckled at this, something dark in his eyes shined as he leaned in close enough for only me to hear.
“Happy birthday, then,” he murmured, voice softer now.
Maybe—just maybe—the gamble had paid off.

—- he knows. ft schlatt. ᝰ
summary: after a bizarre discovery about your favourite streamer, you continue to fall down the rabbit hole of his other content. you were pleasantly surprised to find he also done audio's, and couldn't resist listening to his latest post.
— tags: smut, lunch club!schlatt, mutual masturbation.. technically?, schlatt does porn (duh), dirty talk, open ending again
authors note: helloo, part 2 has been served!! appreciate the love towards my first post, so i had to get this one out to you guys asap. once again, this wouldn't be possible without the lovely @fanficfox and her lovely mind! hope you all enjoy, and don't forget to lmk your thoughts!! ♡
it had been a few weeks since the day you had found schlatt featuring in fucking twitter porn of all places
you'd be lying if you said you hadn't looked again
of course you had
and not just at the original video. you had found a mix of older and newer videos
some were solo, some were with another girl
and either way, you watched them
something you had also found however, was a link to his other content. it was hosted on a website to soundgasm
interesting name, you thought, but alright
and boy were you glad you clicked
you were met with a profile— schlatt's profile— but it was under a completely different alias
but there were tons of audios on the site, dating back to even last year
you felt almost overwhelmed with how much content there, the audios having a wide variety of themes, and the lengths being short, small instances to long played out scenes
you had your night set for you, and you didn't know which one to choose
until you seen one had recently been uploaded, in fact it was posted just an hour before you had found the site
intrigued, you clicked onto the link and got yourself into bed, snuggled under the covers as you pressed play on the audio
the second you pressed play, you were instantly met with heavy breathing— low, deep almost needy-like breaths were being let out, as if he had been holding back for too long
there's a faint shuffle, slight movement before a small exhale escapes his mouth
and he's finally starting
the slick, slow slide of his hand can be heard, and the wet noises begin to fill your ears
you hear how quickly his breathing gets uneven, as he shifts between low grunts and muffled curses
it's not long before he starts talking into the mic, his low and raspy voice sending a shiver through your body, your thighs squeezing instinctively
"fuck, been thinking about this all day,"
"i've just been— shit— so fucking hard, waiting to do this. been wanting it so bad,"
the way he speaks, his voice switches from steady to uneven interchangeably, and it somehow turns you on even more
"bet you'd love watching me, huh? bet you'd fucking get off to it,"
he chuckles to himself lowly for a moment, before he continues, "fuck, who am i kidding. i bet you already are. or at the very least, you're already soaked for me, sweetheart,"
a small whine escapes you from his words because fuck, he was so cocky, and yet so right. the slick was coating between your thighs, there was a pool of warmth sitting in your core that wasn't leaving anytime soon
the audio continued on, schlatt continuing to jerk off and talk you through as he did. giving you visuals through groaned explanations, telling you when he was stroking or squeezing
you had slipped your hand under your pyjama bottoms, allowing your fingers to graze over your underwear as you pressed against your core, rubbing gently along with schlatt
it was nearing the end of the audio, when schlatt's breaths got more erratic and his talking became more frequent
"fuck— getting close.. 'm not gonna last,"
what could only be described as a whine escaped him, before he coughed and cut himself off with a low chuckle
"but i know you— you, sweetheart— i know you're listening in,"
you were sure this was another bit to entice the viewer in and make it more personal, and you weren't complaining. you sped your fingers up, rubbing the fabric against you faster, creating a nice friction
"and i know you'll be getting off to this, cause you seem fuckin' filthy. but let me— shit, let me ask you one thing," he started again, voice shaking more than ever
you knew he was close, and so were you
he groaned deeply, leaning closer to the mic before speaking up, "i know you asked whether i've been told i talk too much, but i know you like it, like it enough to tease me about it live,"
your mouth dropped and your fingers froze momentarily, as if edging yourself for a few seconds, but they sped up again when you heard schlatt moan loudly through the audio
his chair creaked and the moans came spilling out of his mouth, little fuck's along the way as he eased himself through the orgasm. the sounds were even wetter than before, mixing in with his stuttered breath was all you needed to hear to send yourself over the edge
you came just after schlatt, the wetness soaking and staining your underwear as you rode out the orgasm, practically humping your fingers as you whined to yourself, revelling in his breathy groans
there was no outro to the audio, just a simple "see you next time, fuckin' slut," before it cut out, and you were left in a haze
nevermind from just the orgasm, but the fact he had referred to you during the audio, you had been on his mind all day from your teasing
you didn't know how to feel, or what exactly to do. but one thing was for certain
you were going to be back in his next stream, making sure to mention tonight.

Just thinking about Fratboy!Jaehyun... who yes, of course he knows his birthday is on Valentine's Day, but that doesn't mean he's not going to ask you, his girlfriend, to be his valentine. He doesn't care that it's his birthday all that much because at the end of the day, he still wants you to feel special and loved.
So on February 13th, he comes home from his classes with a pretty bouquet of roses in his hands and a card with some cheesy pun and a smile on his face. Who would have guessed that the former fuckboy of Nu Chi Theta would be so excited to be in a committed, loving relationship and excited to ask his girlfriend of over a year to be his for a day that was usually all about him?
He comes into the frat house, sets his backpack near the staircase and finds you sitting on a couch far too dirty and unworthy of someone as precious as you and simply smiles. He loves how comfortable you are in a house that was once drowning in testosterone, you made it better for everyone.
"Sweetheart," he starts, entering your line of sight, "I know Valentine's Day is a little different for us, but I still wanted to ask, like I have before, if you'd like to be my valentine?"
You pout at Jaehyun with pure and utter affection, "Baby! I'd love to!"
Jaehyun leans down to press a kiss against your lips and hands you the bouquet and the card, "perfect, we can celebrate the day after tomorrow-"
"Well, I didn't finish," you reply awkwardly, "Haechan kind of already asked me to be his valentine..."
Jaehyun's face falls, "tell me you said no."
"Baby," you whine, cupping his face, "he's one of my best friends!"
"And I'm your boyfriend! Hello?! You can't be another guy's valentine on my birthday!"
"Well, it's not like we'll be going on a date or anything! We're just making each other valentine's baskets and that's it," you explain, pressing what you hope is a calming kiss against his lips.
"But it's my birthday," Jaehyun protests with a pout.
"Exactly, my love, so you know I like to treat you on your birthday. I'll spend the night tonight, tell you happy birthday right when the clock strikes midnight, we can put some of these flower petals to good use, and I have a special surprise for your eyes only," you whisper huskily, eyes dark while you trail soft, teasing kisses up the side of Jaehyun's neck.
He feels himself melting against the stained cushions of the couch, finding that in this moment he would say yes to anything you say or ask. His eyes fall shut, enjoying the feel of your soft lips against his sensitive skin while one of your hands finds its way under the worn cotton of his t-shirt, nails trailing over the pale skin of his abs. You smirk against his skin as a shiver runs down his spine, he's so pliable and docile in your hands when he's like this.
The make out session, foreplay, teasing— whatever, is interrupted when you both hear a sing songy, "oh, Sweetheart!"
You pull away from you boyfriend with a confused pinch in your brows. It comes as a surprise to both you and Jaehyun when you find the Jaehyun's core frat brothers walking toward the two of you all holding beautiful flower arrangements in their hands, your favorite snacks, and stuffed animals.
"What is going on?" Jaehyun breathes out, eyes zeroed in on his frat brothers with a matching look of confusion on his face.
"Sweetheart," Yuta starts.
"Will you," Johnny carries on.
"Be our," Jungwoo continues.
"Valentine?" Mark finishes off.
"God, another 7 guys to share you with?" Jaehyun breathes under his breath before turning his attention to the guys, "you guys know she's my girlfriend, right?"
"Jaehyun, she's frat sweetheart. This is literally the least we can do," Doyoung explains with a look that leaves no room for complaints.
And Jaehyun can't even find it in himself to complain, not when he sees the look of pure joy and the tears of happiness in your eyes as you go down the line and hug your friends one by one while accepting the gifts. He's so in love with you.

WIP wednesday tagged by the amazing @rcmclachlan and @agentpeggycartering <3 thank you!
here is some more from the fic formerly known as phosphorescence, now renamed pothos | pathos or pothos fic for short. follows [this]
-
Eddie worries about Buck.
And, if he lets himself think about it, he feels a little guilty for only worrying about Buck now, and not before.
Sure, he'd felt bad for the guy when Tommy dumped him but, well, Buck had been dumped before. He always ended up fine.
Maybe Eddie should have caught on earlier to the ways things were different this time around. Part of that was because Tommy was his friend, and that made things a little awkward, but he'd figured out soon enough that if he just... avoided talking with Tommy about Buck and with Buck about Tommy, it was... fine. He was just a little more vague about it when he had plans with either of them. Easy.
It wasn't exactly like he didn't have anything else on his mind, what with Christopher speaking to him in actual multi-word sentences these days and the whole El Paso house hunt.
Still, he should have probably caught on the fact that it was weird, how easy it was to avoid the subject of Tommy around Buck. At least, in depth.
Sure, Buck talked a lot about how he wanted to reach out, how he'd seen Tommy bubble him again, and the baking... well, the baking spoke for itself. Still, it had taken Buck a full week to share any sort of details as to why he and Tommy had broken up, how it had happened. Even then, Buck had been pretty closed off about it.
And then Buck just... kept baking. And, okay, sue Eddie, it hadn't pinged anything at first because Buck has a tendency to get a little intense about things in general. Until now, those things usually only lasted for a short period of time before Buck wore himself out and things went right back to normal. Or he would go on to the next thing, which, for Buck, was normal.
But the baking went on, so Eddie had figured, hey, Buck had a new hobby. It was a way to cope that wasn't unhealthy for anyone except the people he kept trying to pawn his pastries off to. He was keeping local businesses running with his shopping habits. Buck was keeping himself busy, processing his emotions in a way that didn't involve suing the department or having to be bailed out of jail. You know, all good things. So surely it was fine.
But now... the Tommy thing.
Eddie had kept in contact with Tommy. They'd kept up their weekly hangouts and it hadn't been awkward, because they didn't talk about it. Tommy had looked a little more rough around the edges and he was a little quieter than he had been, but Eddie could tell he was dealing with it in his own way. Their sparring got an extra edge of intensity to it and Eddie enjoyed the extra challenge. Figured if Tommy wanted to talk, he'd talk. But he didn't, so they didn't. Easy as that.
Eddie thought it was, well, fine.
But now Buck is very clearly not fine, and Eddie just watches and sips his coffee while Buck gestures emphatically as he says something to Maddie.
“Have you talked to him?”
Chimney appears by his side and Eddie very nearly inhales his next sip. “Holy-- Chim, stop sneaking up on people like that.”
“Well, have you?”
Eddie dabs at his shirt, trying to figure if he's going to need to change or if the dark blue fabric masks the coffee stain well enough. Glances over to find Chimney still standing next to him, also watching Maddie and Buck.
“You talking about Buck, or Tommy?” Eddie finally asks.
“Either, or.”
“Talked to Tommy day before yesterday. He seemed fine.”
“What about Buck?” Chim says, turning towards Eddie. “Has he... talked to you?”
Somehow Eddie suspects he doesn't mean just in general. “About...?”
“His... theory.”
Eddie frowns. “No, he hasn't mentioned a theory. What kind of theory?”
Chimney ignores his question. “Nothing about Tommy seeming... off?”
“No, I...” Eddie hesitates, thinks back. “Well, he has been asking a lot more questions. But like, trying to be subtle about it, you know?”
Chimney hums.
Eddie casts him a sidelong glance. “Why? What'd he say to you?”
“I probably shouldn't say,” Chimney says. He's fidgeting. Eddie waits him out.
All it takes is a single raised eyebrow on his part and one glance up from Chimney, and Chim cracks. “Fine, but this stays between us, alright?” He glances around them. “He thinks Tommy isn't Tommy.”
Eddie lets the words sink in. Waits for them to make sense. They don't. “What the hell does that mean?”
“See? That's what I asked him, but he couldn't explain it. Just said he wasn't acting like himself.”
Eddie considers this. “I mean, he has seemed a little different, recently.”
“Different how?”
Eddie thinks its a good thing Buck isn't here to hear it, honestly felt guilty about even noticing it, before. “Honestly? Tommy seems... better.”
“Better how?”
Eddie shrugs again. “Calmer? Like he's actually getting some sleep these days.”
“Shit,” Chimney huffs.
“Yeah.”
“Don't tell Buck that.”
“Wasn't planning to.”
They finish their coffee in silence.

Chapter Three - Together
“Did you just call that guy grandpa?”
Mouth still left parted in shock, you stare at the back of Luffy’s head, waiting for him to answer Zoro’s question. Or, at the very least, clarify what exactly he meant by calling the Vice Admiral of the Marine Corps grandpa—because surely he was not actually related to your captain; your captain of a pirate crew.
Though, you’re at a loss to think of what else Luffy could have possibly meant.
Meeting Zoro’s gaze, the two of you stood directly behind Luffy, his expression matching your own.
“Hit the deck!”
You barely have time to register Usopp’s warning, only seeing something black and something very much like a cannon heading straight your way, before arms are grabbing you and pulling you down. You’re tucked into a chest, your own arms coming to protect yourself as you try to ignore the ache the sudden movement pulls on your stitches.
The rumble of the cannon hitting the ship fades, and slowly, you pull away, meeting Zoro’s gaze first, realizing then he’d been the one to pull you down (you don’t have time to think about how that makes you feel), before both of your gazes fall on the broken fence of your ship deck.
Pressing a hand to your waist, you move to stand, Zoro shuffling back to give you room. He offers a hand, to which you take, letting him help pull you up to your own feet.
“Everybody okay?” Luffy calls, and your eye falls on him in front of you.
“I think so,” Nami calls back, breathless. Both her and Usopp were further back from the explosion, up on the helm deck.
“No,” Usopp cries, popping up beside her. “Not okay. Not even close to okay.”
You shake your head, trying to ignore your own panic that’s bubbling inside of you. “We need to do something,” you urge, facing back towards the marine ship. “They’re just gonna keep shooting at us until we sink.”
Meeting your gaze briefly, Luffy nods. “Usopp!” He calls, pointing directly at the marine ship and his grandpa. “Fire back at them!”
“Or how about we sail away as fast as we can?” Usopp offers.
Luffy turns to look at him, looking bewildered that he’d even offered the idea. But Nami only extends a hand towards Usopp, clearly in agreement.
“Run from the Marines?” Luffy breathes, “no. Never! Nami, trim the… the sail thing. Let’s sink their ship.”
Usopp, probably despite his own fear, comes to meet Luffy with the cannon ammo.
“You want to sink a marine ship?” You echo in disbelief. “That’s… insane.”
“Not to mention, we don’t have time!” Nami argues, “they’re stealing our wind. If they pull up alongside us, we’re finished.”
Luffy just ignores her. “You’re the navigator. Do something.”
Turning to her, she meets your gaze. You offer a helpless shrug.
Nami huffs. “Zoro,” she calls, shifting her gaze past you. “Sheet in and hard to port! Y/N, stay there and don’t get more hurt.”
Feeling useless, you huff, but listen to Nami regardless. You knew you’d only pay worse if you didn’t.
“You know how to load a cannon?” Luffy asks Usopp, who chuckles nonchalantly in return.
You seriously doubt that.
“Yeah, of course. I’ve loaded thousands of them.” Almost as soon as he says that, he hesitates with the cannon in hand. “Uh, this just must be a different model than I’m used to.”
Huffing, you shuffle forward. “Load the cannon in the barrel,” you explain, pointing at the barrel as he turns to look at you helplessly. “Light the fuse and then get out of the way.”
Nodding at you, he shuffles forward, moving to the front of the cannon. Only, before he can load the barrel, he drops all the cannons in his hands.
“Usopp!”
Eyes widening, you rush forward to help, but Luffy holds a hand out to you, shaking his head as he moves to run after Usopp and the cannons which have gone down the stairs.
Pressing a hand to your forehead, you sigh.
“We’re so gonna die.”
-
Somehow, you don’t die.
After Luffy somehow manages to deflect a cannon with his belly, Nami quickly makes the five of you disappear into the thick of the fog. The second you’d gotten away, Luffy had crawled up to the bow and taken a seat. He hadn’t said a word since.
Nami had taken to steering, and since she was probably the most qualified person, you’d left her to it. You instead decide to lean against the railing, letting your eyes stay focused on the back of Luffy.
It wasn’t like him to be quiet, and you had no doubt it had something to do with the fact that his grandpa had nearly just destroyed his ship and killed him and all his friends. With how Luffy was, you figured he probably hadn’t come to terms with that reality yet and he would probably continue to ignore it until forced to otherwise.
“How’s the ship looking?”
Inhaling sharply, you glance over your shoulder, eye falling on Zoro as he shakes his head at Nami. “Broken railing,” he answers, “minor damage. Could’ve been a lot worse.”
Nami rolls her eyes; “could’ve been better.”
“Can’t see the Marines anywhere,” Usopp assures.
“Can’t see anything in this soup,” Nami corrects. “What we need is a place to lay low, wait out any reinforcements they send after us. My charts are useless in this fog.”
Zoro nods. “What did Luffy say?”
You sigh; “he’s on the bow,” you point ahead of yourself. “He hasn’t said anything since we hightailed it. I’m…” Hesitating, you chance one glance at his back before turning back to the three. “I’m worried about him.”
“Somebody needs to talk to him,” Nami says. “About this and that other thing.”
Zoro frowns. “What other thing?”
“Oh gee, I wonder,” Nami says, obviously sarcastic.
The expression on Zoro’s face tells you he really doesn’t know what.
“The Vice-Admiral-of-the-Marines-is-my-grandfather-thing.” Nami explains, looking at you all like it’s obvious.
You offer a shrug; “I’m confused too… but it feels wrong to interrogate him about it. Especially after the guy tried to kill us.”
Nami just blinks over at you.
“Yeah…” Usopp drawls, “I don’t really know the guy that well, so…”
Zoro nods; “doesn’t seem like a big deal.”
“Well, I wouldn’t say that it isn’t a big deal…” You say tentatively, wary of Nami’s reaction and unable to deny the curiosity you feel. It did beg questions and it was a little wrong that Luffy had chosen not to tell any of you. “I just don’t know…”
Nami hesitates a moment, before shaking her head, turning to Zoro. “You’re his first mate,” he reminds, “kind of seems like that falls under your job description, hmm?”
He glances at you and Usopp, probably hoping one of you will do it instead of him. Usopp sends him a sheepish smile, holding the straps of his overalls and rocking on his feet, making his answer clear. When Zoro meets your gaze, you press a hand to your waist and smile nervously; “I’m injured?”
You were worried, but you also had no idea how to breach a conversation like that with Luffy of all people.
It’s obviously an excuse, but Zoro doesn’t argue. With a blink, he turns; “fine.”
You watch him leave, before meeting Nami’s gaze.
“You’re aware that Zoro is probably the worst person to check in on Luffy, right?” You raise a brow, “no way he’s actually gonna find anything out.”
Sighing dramatically, Nami presses her forehead to the helm.
Sure enough, a minute later Zoro comes back, shrugging; “seems fine to me.”
“Did you even ask him?”
Before Zoro can respond, if he even was going to, Luffy suddenly stands; “hey!” Pausing, he sniffs, raising his finger. “You guys smell that?”
Your brows furrow. “Smell what?”
Luffy’s quiet for a moment, taking in the air, before he breathes out; “there’s something on the breeze.” Sniffing again, his eyes widen. “Smells like butter. Soy sauce. And meat.”
He grins back at the four of you.
“I can’t smell anything,” Usopp frowns, moving towards Luffy. He seems almost disappointed he can’t smell anything.
“Think he has brain damage?” Zoro asks you and Nami.
Nami huffs, crossing her arms; “I think that every day.”
You let out a nervous laugh.
“Look, Luffy,” Usopp scratches his head. “Playing follow the smell is fun and all, but we really got to get out of this fog.”
“I know,” he calls back, “but I smell food, which means that there’s someone somewhere cooking.”
-
You’ll never doubt Luffy’s nose again.
Turns out what he was smelling was a whole restaurant, and without having anywhere else to go and needing food, you’d all decided to dock there and get something to eat. Luffy and Usopp had been roaring to go the second the ship docked, barely able to stand still, which made Nami eager to get off the boat just so she didn’t have to deal with two idiots. You’re pretty excited yourself, but just as the ship docked, you’d noticed a bit of red on your shirt. You very quickly deduced it was your wound and obviously, after the excitement of nearly being hit by a cannon, you’d aggravated your stitches.
“You sure you don’t need help?” Nami frowns, hesitating to follow Luffy and Usopp off the ship. Zoro was hanging by the plank too, you couldn’t help but notice. He wasn’t offering to stay, of course, but he seemed concerned.
Shaking your head from the thought, you smile at Nami. “Positive.” You assure, sending her a thumbs up. “I just gotta change the bandage and my shirt and I’ll meet you guys there. Just let the host know I’m coming.”
Hovering for only a moment longer, Nami nods. “You can borrow one of my shirts again,” she offers. “Remind me next time we’re on an island to get you some clothes. When we’re not being chased by Marines.”
You laugh, nodding at her and turning to head to your and Nami’s shared room. You pause, however, when your eye catches Zoros’ once again. He looks like he wants to say something, and for some reason you find you can’t offer anything in return. It takes Nami, who’d seen the rather obvious and embarrassing display, to grab Zoro by the arm and pull him with her to get either of you to move.
Cheeks burning, you rush down to the room, trying to ignore the flutter of your chest or the nerves flooding through your entire body.
Seriously, it was starting to get too much. Before, you’d at least be able to brush it off as being intimidated by Zoro since he was, well, a pretty intimidating guy. But since the whole Kuro incident and you getting hurt, every time Zoro’s eyes seemed to fall on you, that narrowed and heavy gaze lightened into something soft. It was hard to ignore or not let get to you when he’d already made you all hot and flustered before.
He was attentive in a way you hadn’t experienced or expected from him. Everyone had been worried when you’d gotten hurt. You distinctly remember being surprised by how bothered Nami had seemed by it and even Usopp, who you’d just met, had checked in on you. But Zoro? Zoro had been concerned in a whole other way. Rather than just asking you or checking in like Luffy had, he’d hovered. He stayed near when Kaya had cleaned and stitched your wound for you, helping you walk there and then back to the ship even when you assured you were fine.
You’d never had someone so worried about you, let alone a man you were clearly attracted to.
You didn’t know if Zoro had any idea of what he was doing to you, but he was killing you. Your heart was always racing when he was near, which was always, and he made you feel like a fumbling fool, mind short-circuiting to the point of silliness whenever his eyes fell on you.
You’d never forget what he’d said about your eye. How he’d made you feel about it. Luffy and Nami had been endearing too, you would never deny that, but Zoro had spoken up first. And the look on his face…
Pressing your hands to your cheeks, you try to cool the heat you feel and your racing mind. This was silly. You were being silly. Zoro was just being nice and he probably just saw what a helpless fool you were and felt pity. There was nothing more to it.
Zoro was a strong swordsman, a renowned bounty hunter and Luffy’s first mate and you were… you.
Swallowing thickly, you sit down at the desk in your and Nami’s shared room, pulling up your shirt and glancing down. As expected, your wound has bled through your bandage. Momentarily, you worry that you’ve ripped your stitches, but the second you pull the bandage off, you’re assured that isn’t the case. You clearly just aggravated the wound and, pausing to clean the blood and apply the salve Kaya had given you, you place a new bandage on.
You take a moment more to find a shirt to wear, thankful Nami was being so generous with her clothing. You could tell the girl took her fashion seriously and you felt bad enough borrowing her clothes, but now you were ruining them with blood. You’d have to make it up to her somehow.
Cleaned with a new bandage on, you smile to yourself, feeling your stomach rumble almost as if reminding you.
Without a second more of hesitation, you make your way up and off the Going Merry. The Baratie is buzzing with people and you can’t help but let your gaze wander across the millions of different people going on with their lives, each in their own world. You continue to do so until you find the front entrance to the restaurant, and with a simple explanation to the host that you were here with friends and a small description of some friends, you’re led to the table.
You pause, however, when you realize the waiter is already taking your friends’ order.
The host leaves your side and with only a second more of hesitation, you make your way to the table, not having realized you’d taken so long.
“Do I still have time to place an order?”
Everyone's eyes fall on you at your question, and coming to a stop on the left of the waiter, right in front of Zoro. You frown when you notice the tense look on his face, concerned, but before you can ask, your captain is beaming at your arrival.
“Y/N!” Luffy calls, grinning. “You’re just in time! I ordered one of everything for us!”
You shouldn’t be surprised, but his words still pull a laugh from your lips. Of course Luffy would order the entire menu.
“I didn’t know I would be greeted by two beautiful maidens today. And one with such an infectious laugh.”
Freezing, it takes you a second to realize that the words had come from the waiter and that he was talking to you. Eyes widening, you turn to him, meeting his eyes with your left one, only to see him smiling at you. One hand is shoved into the pocket of his dress pants as he turns towards you with a certain suaveness.
Cheeks warming in embarrassment, your hands rise. “Oh, I—”
But before you can finish, the waiter is taking your left hand in his, pulling it up to his lips and pressing a kiss there. No longer just warm, your cheeks burn.
“Such beautiful eyes too, madam,” he grins, “I’ll never forget either of them.”
You’re hyper aware of the fact that your entire crew is watching this happen and that you’re standing there, gaping like a fish. You’ve never had anyone flirt with you, especially not someone so… persistent.
The waiter continues to stare back at you, never once looking upset by your lack of response.
An achingly long minute passes.
“Y/N.”
You don’t even have time to turn to Zoro at him calling your name before you feel hands fall on your hips, tugging you forward. A small yelp leaves your lips in response, stunned stupid, as Zoro pulls you in front of him, practically on his lap for a brief second, your hand slipping from the waiter's grip. Zoro moves you so you’re sat next to him, in between him and Nami who sends you a knowing smirk as you try to ignore your racing heart and flaming cheeks.
“Oi,” the waiter calls before you can, again, say anything. “Don’t be so rough with her.”
Zoro glares right at him. “Don’t be so handsy,” he growls back, not missing a beat. “Y/N doesn’t even know you.”
“She can get to know me,” the waiter challenges, curling a brow at your swordsman before his eyes shift back to you. “I’m sorry our introduction got interrupted, my name is Sanji. It’s lovely to meet you, Y/N.”
You’re sure you look as stupid as you feel.
“N-Nice to meet you too, Sanji,” you echo back, voice small.
Sanji grins just as Zoro leans forward, cutting you off from view. “Shouldn’t you be getting our food and drinks? The ones we ordered, waiter?”
The smile on Sanji’s face tenses, but he holds back whatever he clearly wants to say to Zoro, side stepping to meet your eyes once again. “Certainly, but first… what would you like, madam? Water like your lovely friend or something else? A sweet wine, perhaps? I can recommend some to you.”
You meet Nami’s eyes who just scoffs, obviously having received similar attention as you were now.
“Water,” you squeak. “Like her.”
“Not sparkling? Mineral? Ice or no?”
“Just water,” you nod, noticing the tick in Zoro’s jaw.
“Coming right up, Y/N,” he winks at you, smirking, before he turns away.
Silence follows, thick and heavy.
“Don’t worry,” Nami is the first to break the ice, lightly nudging you. “He was the same with me.”
Usopp snickers next to her, meeting your eye; “looks like you and Nami have got a boyfriend.”
Rolling her eyes, Nami just laughs quietly to herself. “Yeah, well, I don’t think it’s me we should be worried about.” Her eyes shift to Zoro, as does everyones, even Luffy who looks a bit lost, and finally, you turn to look at him too.
Your cheeks are still warm with embarrassment, mainly from Sanji’s flirting, but also the way Zoro had grabbed you. It wasn’t that you minded, because really, you didn’t, but—what the hell was that?
Meeting her gaze, arms crossed over his chest, Zoro huffs; “I’m fine.”
“Sure,” Nami drawls, smirking.
“I never seen you so angry, Zoro,” Usopp teases, grinning ear to ear. “Jealous?” He sings the word, wiggling his brows at the swordsman as you sink into your seat further.
“Of a waiter?” Zoro scoffs, careful not to glance your way. “Of course not.”
You don’t fail to notice the fact that he hadn’t denied he’d been jealous because of you.
With a little bit more laughter, the conversation drifts off as Luffy starts to ramble about the food. Once the attention is thoroughly off you and Zoro, you turn to him.
“Are you okay?” You ask in a soft voice, concerned and perhaps wanting to know more about why he’d done what he had.
Finally turning to look at you, you watch as Zoro swallows thickly. “Fine,” he says gruffly and you flinch, frowning. Seeing your reaction, Zoro sighs. “Just didn’t like the way he touched you…”
He says it with a grumble, and if you hadn’t been right next to him, you wouldn’t have heard it.
Lips parting, you blink; “oh.”
“No guy should touch you like that.” He adds.
You turn to him but he’s already looked away, clearly done with the conversation.
You can’t help but think to yourself, however, that he’d touched you like that.
And that you liked it.
-
“So… how long do you think the owner will make Luffy work for him?”
You glance up at your friends at your own question, curious. Instead of mirrored curiosity staring back at you, you find blank faces instead.
Frowning, you huff. “Is no one concerned?” You ask, genuinely worried. “We all ate that food… and he’s the one working for it.”
“I didn’t eat,” Zoro shrugs, “I just drank some beer.”
You glower at him.
Turning to Usopp, you hope maybe he’ll say something. Of course, he doesn’t and instead, he continues to slurp up the fancy fruity cock-tail drink he’d ordered, promptly avoiding your eye. You already know that Nami won’t be any help since she seemed rather hurt by Luffy lying about his grandpa, and while you couldn’t fault her for being hurt, you were frustrated at all of their lack of concerns.
Sighing, you push yourself to a stand, taking a step forward. Zoro catches you by the wrist before you make it two full steps.
“Where are you going?”
You glance down at him. “To find Luffy,” you gesture forward, as if the answer should’ve been obvious. Which it should’ve. “I don’t feel like drinking or…” You let your eyes drag across the bustling crowd of the bar. “...dancing. Maybe I can talk the owner into going easy on him.”
You go to do that, except, Zoro still doesn’t let go of your wrist.
“We should probably stick together,” Zoro says, never taking his eyes off of you. “In case the Marines come.”
You shake your head, pulling at his grip. He lets go easy, but the frown on his face makes it clear he’s annoyed by your persistence. “I’ll be fine,” you brush off his concern. “The worst thing I’ll be doing is washing some dishes, I reckon.”
Zoro looks like he wants to argue, but it’s clear he isn’t sure how.
You just sigh; “stay and relax. I’ll be fine.”
And then you turn before he can say anything else.
Shifting your way past the crowd of the bar, you make your way back down the steps that lead out into the outdoor bar. It isn’t hard to get back into the restaurant, but you’re careful not to catch the attention of any of the chefs or staff. Instead, you carefully slink your way towards the employee section.
At the sight of a chef with blue hair coming towards you, you’re quick to duck behind a wall. You hesitate, hovering, trying to listen for his footsteps to grow distant. Except, your ears pick up on something else.
Luffy.
Turning in the direction of the noise, your gaze falls on the hallway in front of you, seeing a door at the far end. With one more glance behind you to make sure no one was there, you make your way down the hall, eyes brightening when you see the word ‘KITCHEN’ labelled at the top of the door. A glance through the small circular windows only confirms your suspicions, lips curling into a smile at the sight of Luffy.
You also make note of the waiter from before standing in front of him and… it looked like the two were talking to a man you didn’t recognize. Sanji is ushering the man out the back entrance of the kitchen, and you use that as your chance to sneak in.
Pushing open the door, you pop your head in.
“Luffy?”
He turns at the sound of your voice, face brightening at the sight of you.
“Y/N!”
You wince when he all but yells your name, confident you were definitely not supposed to be back here. With one last glance back, you slip inside, letting the doors swing shut behind you as you make your way over to your captain.
“What’re you doing here?” He grins, confused. “I thought you and the rest went up to the bar.”
“We did… but I left.” You explain, frowning slightly. Setting your hand on his arm, you glance up at him. “It was a little awkward, Luffy. Nami’s pretty upset about the grandpa thing.”
Luffy’s face wavers at that, the same way you noticed it had during dinner when Nami had brought it back up then. Frowning at the sight, you squeeze his arm reassuringly.
“But mainly I came because I was worried,” you smile. “I didn’t know how hard that owner guy was working you.”
Luffy instantly eases at that, and his lips curve into a genuine smile.
“I’m okay. He just has me doing dishes,” he juts his thumb behind him, and you eye the stack of dishes with a grimace. “Though, I think I found—”
“Y/N?”
Startled at the new voice, you glance over Luffy’s shoulder to see the waiter back from wherever he’d escorted that man you’d seen before. He seems baffled at the sight of you, while you freeze at the sight of him, worried he’ll be mad you snuck in.
“Hello, S-Sanji,” you greet, offering a small wave. “I know I’m not supposed to be here but I was worried about Luffy—”
“I’m not mad you’re here, love,” Sanji grins easily, making his way over to you and Luffy with a shake of his head. “I just hoped you were having fun upstairs in the bar.”
Still not used to his charm, you flush. “Oh, well…” Eye trailing, you turn to Luffy. “I was actually going to ask Luffy if he needed help with—”
“Absolutely not,” Sanji cuts you off for the third time, leaving your lips parted in bafflement. He’s crossing the distance in the kitchen over to you two in two seconds, and before you can even realize it, his hands are on your shoulders, gently turning you towards the door to the kitchen. The one you’d just come from. “A lady like yourself should not be getting her hands dirty at all.”
“B-But…” Words trailing in your bafflement, you glance back at Luffy who grins back at you, unbothered.
“The chore boy will be fine.”
“I should really…” You reach weakly towards Luffy who just raises his hand in an eager wave, completely unbothered by Sanji who is all but shoving you out of the kitchen.
Before you realize, the two of you are back out in the restaurant and Sanji, still with his hands on your shoulders, is easily maneuvering you up the stairs and out of the restaurant completely. In fact, he doesn’t stop until he’s outside the restaurant, far away from anyone.
When he lets go of you, you turn to him, nonplussed.
He grins down at you, sincere and wide.
“Do you always drag girls you just meet to secluded areas to get them alone?”
He seems momentarily stunned by your words, as if not even realizing where he’d lead you, before his face eases and he leans back against the wall of the restaurant. You watch as he reaches into the pocket of his dress pants, pulling out a pack of smokes. “Not usually, but I thought this was the perfect opportunity to get to know each other. Like I’d offered before.” He sends you a wink that has your cheeks warming, eye watching as he places a cigarette between his teeth, lighting it.
Crossing your arms over your chest, you curl a brow at him, ignoring your flush. “Very… forward of you.”
He just grins, taking a puff of his smoke. “You don’t seem to mind it.”
“Only because Luffy didn’t seem bothered by you leading me away like that,” you shrug, moving to lean against the wall next to him. “Anyone Luffy trusts, I do too.”
Sanji raises a brow. “You sure have faith in him.”
“He saved my life,” you explain, thinking back to that moment he’d offered you to join his crew. Even before that, in that pub… you had no idea then how much Luffy and the rest would change your mind. “They all have.”
Sanji’s smile turns more soft at that, and he turns his gaze up to the sky. “That’s sweet.” You turn to look at him, and sure enough, a moment later, he’s adding with a smirk; “just like you.”
You scoff. “It seems you can’t control yourself.”
“Not when I’m around you,” he laughs, taking another puff of his smoke.
“Sure,” you drawl, snorting.
A second of silence passes, before Sanji speaks up again. “So, what’s going on between you and that moss head?”
Almost instantly, the light flush you’d had before burns into something more intense, as you jump, facing Sanji as you wildly shake your hands in front of you. “No-Nothing!” You squeak, unable to control the pitch of your voice.
Sanji eyes you for a moment, then, he chuckles; “sure.” He drawls, matching your previous tone.
“Seriously,” you argue, trying to calm your voice to sound more sure. “There’s nothing going on between me and Zoro.”
“Beautiful, anyone who gets jealous like that over a little flirting doesn’t think there’s nothing going on.” Sanji shakes his head, nudging you lightly with his shoulder. “Or, he hasn’t man-upped enough to tell you the truth.”
You’re positive you’re on fire with how hot you are in embarrassment.
“Zoro does not like me.”
“Okay,” he pauses, “but do you like him?”
Lips left parted, you blink up at Sanji.
“I-I… It’s none of your business.”
Humming, Sanji takes another puff. “Seems like you want to get it off your chest, love.”
You pout. “You’re annoying.”
He leans towards you, smirking; “I’m right, beautiful.”
Shoulders falling, you kick your leg out at a random pebble. “Fine,” you huff, glancing at your feet. “Maybe I like him… a little bit!”
You don’t see the way Sanji’s face softens down at you, and you almost think something’s wrong when he doesn’t say anything. But when you glance back up at him, he’s turned his gaze back up. “Shame,” he sighs, almost soulful. “You truly are enchanting.”
Eyes widening, you bite your lip. “Shut up.”
“It’s true,” he pushes, looking unbothered by your embarrassment. “You deserve far more than that moss head.”
“You don’t even know Zoro.”
He shrugs. “I can tell.”
“I—”
Whatever you’d been about to say falls silent on the tip of your tongue when you see a familiar Straw Hat run by in front of you. Stepping back Sanji, you glance past his shoulder, you watch as Luffy and Usopp run towards the Going Merry.
“Where’s Y/N?” You hear Luffy yell distantly.
“I thought she was with you!” Usopp calls back.
You frown.
“Something wrong?” Sanji asks, hand falling on your shoulder and your gaze turns up, realizing he’d seen the same thing.
“I don’t know…” You breathe, concerned. Stepping back from Sanji, you turn to him apologetically, lips parting to explain.
“Don’t worry about it, love,” he brushes your apology off. “You should go make sure everything’s okay.”
Face easing at his words, you smile; “thank you, Sanji.”
Cigarette in his lips, he glances at you out of the corner of his eye. You send him a genuine smile and a wave, before turning around to run off in the direction Usopp and Luffy had gone.
You’re quick to pick up the pace in your step, reaching the Going Merry in now time. You can hear the distinct voice of Nami and heart racing at how upset she sounds, you’re making your way down the stairs and towards them in seconds flat.
“But you are not better than him!”
Coming to a stop right at the bottom of the stairs, everyone’s eyes fall on you.
Nami instantly turns on you; “there you are!” Reaching you, she tugs you forward, and as she does, you see Usopp glance at you helplessly and Luffy softly smiling which gives you very mixed signals.
Finally, you turn to Zoro, who is… getting his swords ready?
“What’s going on?” You ask, helpless.
Nami huffs next to you. “Will you talk some sense to him?”
Lips parting, you shake your head at Nami. “Sure… but for what?”
“He’s challenged Dracule Mihawk, one of the Seven Warlords, to a duel.”
It’s like you can hear your heart plummet to the pit of your stomach. Nami, who is too busy turning back to Zoro in frustration, doesn’t notice the way your eye shifts, something distant flooding in. Usopp and Luffy don’t see it either.
But Zoro, who’d chanced a glance up at you, nervous for your reaction, sees it. His face falls briefly, everything else fading as he watches you closely.
“Y/N,” Nami presses, voice pitching in distress. “Tell him how reckless he's being.”
Still stunned, your mind a reckless bout of realization and terror, your gaze finally shifts towards Zoro. He quickly turns away and the sight makes dread flood you. “Z-Zoro,” you breathe, feeling as if your voice sounds like an outside extension of yourself.
Distantly, you realize that you’re not helping Nami and most of all, acting suspiciously. Swallowing thickly, you lean forward on the table. “You cannot fight… h-him… fight Mihawk.”
“Yeah,” Nami nods. She looks relieved you agree with her and you figure, even in the midst of your racing mind, the boys hadn’t been much help. With a frown and a huff, she throws her hand in Zoro’s direction; “he wants to go through with it! Even though it’ll get him killed.”
Zoro turns to her, still avoiding your gaze, and asks bluntly; “why do you give a shit?”
Nami visibly blanches, head jerking back in hurt. Her lips part, twisting to say something, and then, blinking back the betrayal in her eyes, she breathes out; “because you’re my friend, you idiot.”
“You said it yourself. You don’t have any friends.”
You see it in her eyes. His words are harsh and even though you’re still reeling from the realization of what was happening and clearly having walked into the middle of something, you see as the walls she’d slowly let fall around you all come back up. Brick by brick.
She glances around the room, meeting your eye last and then, she leaves without another word.
All of you, except for Zoro, watch her leave.
No one says anything, and then, Usopp is following Nami out, meeting your eye with a nervous panic before slipping out. Luffy follows him a second later, patting your shoulder.
You stay standing there, as if glued to the spot. You can’t bring it in you to chase after Nami even if you were concerned, but you also can’t find the words to say something to Zoro. You want to tell him off for being cruel to Nami like that, you want to tell him he was being an idiot that was going to get himself killed and you want to tell him…—
It takes Zoro a minute to speak up. “Not going to try and convince me like Nami?”
Swallowing thickly, the lump in your throat remains despite. With your hands hanging helplessly at your sides, you try to blink back the tears that well in your eyes. It was all too much at once. Your heart was aching with this anchor that had been thrown at you and it was too much to bear.
Still, deep in your heart, you know; “it wouldn’t stop you,” you whisper, voice cracking at the end.
You could beg and plead, get on your hands and knees, and you know nothing could stop Zoro from doing this. The only thing that might… you weren’t sure if you were ready to admit.
Zoro pauses, hands hovering. Then, he agrees; “probably not.”
Your breath hitches. “You could die.”
He turns to look at you. You don’t meet his eyes.
“He’s my goal.”
Fists clenching, you shake your head. “Zoro, please listen,” you cry, “you cannot fight Mihawk. He’s… He’s…”
But you can’t form the words.
“He’s what?” Zoro pushes, leaning towards you. “Say it, Y/N. I saw your face when Nami told you. Mihawk is what?”
You flinch, stepping back. You can’t look at him even as the guilt and panic tears you apart inside. You couldn’t.
Your mind races for something, something else, and then you remember your conversation with Sanji before. You remember your feelings. “W-What about me?”
“What about you?” Zoro’s tone is even, careful, but his blunt question hurts all the same.
Finally, you look up at him. His eyes are already on you, face flat and expressionless.
You come to terms then it’s pointless. Zoro wasn’t going to cancel the duel and nothing you were willing to say would change his mind. Anything more, and you’d just get yourself hurt. You think once again, in that moment, back to your conversation with Sanji.
You’d known of your feelings all along, just hadn’t been able to realize it. But you’d finally let yourself admit how you felt about Zoro. Finally let the truth out and the relief you’d felt in that moment, to a man you’d only met that day no less, had been imminent.
You’d gotten ahead of yourself then. Forgot that you were the only one who believed in Luffy’s wish to be a crew. Forgot that all the people you’d met had their own goals and you were someone just drifting alongside with them until it came time for them to leave.
You forgot that your life wasn’t just being a part of Luffy's crew.
You forgot that even if Zoro felt anything of what you felt for him, you were still just some girl he’d rescued from a pirate and nothing more than that. Zoro had his own goals and dreams, and you weren’t part of them.
What about you?
Answer made clear, you turn and walk without another word.
Zoro doesn’t see the way tears fall from your face the second you’re out of sight and you don’t see the way his leg kicks out in frustration at himself for being so stupid.
-
It was clear Mihawk didn’t know who you were, despite being your father.
You couldn’t blame him, though. He’d never met you. He didn’t even know that the random woman he met that one day eighteen years ago and spent the night with, had ever gotten pregnant. It wasn’t like Dracule Mihawk to stick around places for long, after all.
And the only reason you even knew he was your father was because your mother had told you the day she died. In her deathbed, with your hand clutching hers, she’d whispered his name and told you if you ever needed help, to go to him.
Something told you he wouldn’t be helping you here.
You watch him best Zoro in every single one of his attacks. He dodges his attacks without even having to lift a finger. It’s a fight unlike anything you’ve ever seen before, and the reality of watching Zoro unable to land any attacks is cruel and unforgiving.
Everything about this is cruel.
With your heart racing and your palms sweaty, you visibly flinch when Mihawk stabs Zoro with the tiny sword he told Zoro was the best match for their duel. It hits him directly in the chest, and you watch the flicker of pain in Zoro’s eyes as he stares his goal down.
And as you listen to Zoro refuse to give up, you can feel your heart tear into two.
Mihawk brings out Yoru. You watch as he unsheathes it from his back, heart plummeting. And you watch as Zoro places the Wado Ichimonji in his mouth, bringing the two black-handle katanas into either of his hands. This is it, you realize. This is the final attack.
After watching Zoro be unable to land one hit, you know this final one won’t be different.
There’s a moment of stilled silence, no one moves. And then, Zoro is running forward and Mihawk watches his pace. They clash, the sound of metal hitting metal reverberates in your mind, rattling your insides.
Zoro slides on his knees across the deck in front of Baratie, stopping just a few feet in front of you. He’s breathless, silent, and you feel your friends around you as you all watch with bated breath.
The two black-handle swords shatter into pieces.
The sob that wretches from your throat is beyond your control. It rips out of you, body shuddering in the reality you’re forced to face, watching as Zoro stands to his feet and turns to face Mihawk.
“You’re defeated,” Mihawk shakes his head. “Why do you persist?”
Sheathing the Wado Ichimonji, Zoro says without hesitation; “wounds on the back are a swordsman’s greatest shame.” Raising his arms in defeat, he holds them to his sides, waiting for Mihawk to make his final move.
“Magnificent.”
Tears welling in your eyes, you feel a hand slip into your own.
Glancing down first and then following the arm, you find Nami’s similarly tearful eyes staring back at you, squeezing your hand. You don’t know if it’s to comfort you or herself, but you appreciate it nonetheless. You turn to your other friends, seeing that Nami is holding Usopp’s hand too and he’s looking at you with concern. The final person you turn to is Luffy.
He meets your eye, and your whole body trembles.
You turn your head back in Zoro’s direction, and the second Mihawk’s arm swings to attack Zoro, you turn away again.
Your head tucks into Nami who startles at your movement, but her hand slips from your own to wrap her arm around you. You can’t see, but you hear the slice of skin and the sound of Zoro’s body hit the ground a minute later. You feel Nami’s body jerk in response.
“Zoro!”
-
Hugging your knees to your chest, you stare at Zoro. You let your eye drag across his sleeping figure, every curve of his face, the dip of his nose, all the way down to his chest, where his wound is tightly bandaged.
It was thanks to Sanji and the Baratie owner, Zeff, that Zoro’s wounds had been cleaned, stitched and dressed. It was thanks to them that Zoro even had a chance of surviving.
Talk to him. That’s what Zeff had said. The only thing any of you could do for Zoro now was talk to him and hope that that was enough to pull him from the purgatory between life and death.
You’d offered the first watch and no one had argued. Everyone was worried about Zoro in their own way, but the tears streaming down your cheeks and the visible mess you were in left no one willing to argue with you. One by one, everyone had left the room, with Luffy only glancing back at you one last time, before it was just you and Zoro.
You hadn’t moved from the spot since then.
That had been hours ago. Nami had come in at one point and asked if she could read to Zoro. you’d nodded without a word, sitting back but never leaving the room. Nami didn’t say anything and even if she had, you would’ve refused to leave. Luffy had followed her in shortly after and that had turned sour quickly when it was apparent that Nami felt Luffy held some responsibility for not telling Zoro to back out of the duel. You watched them argue, not saying a word. Then, Nami left.
“You should eat,” Luffy had said a minute after she walked out the door.
Never taking your eye off Zoro, you’d shaken your head. “I will when he wakes up.”
“Y/N, you—”
“When he wakes up.” The words had come out sharper than you intended and instantly, you’d felt guilt when you’d seen Luffy jerk at the sound. But you didn’t get up nor did you say anything else, and a minute later, Luffy left too.
That had been an hour ago. No one else had come in since.
You’d moved back to the chair next to Zoro, and let your hand slip into his and you hadn’t moved since.
Talk to him. How were you supposed to talk to him? What could you possibly say to him after everything that happened?
Head falling, you let out a shaky sigh.
“This is all my fault,” you whisper, barely even registering you’d said the words aloud. And as you breathe the words into existion, you realize that that was the only thing you could say.
Raising your head, you glance at Zoro’s face.
“I’m so sorry,” you say, squeezing his hand. “I should’ve… I should’ve told you the truth.”
Your chest feels tight, your body heavy. You know what you want to say, but you don’t know if you have the courage to speak the words. Mihawk was your father, it was true, but he meant nothing to you. That isn’t what made it hard to say. Not even seeing him in person for the first time today could make the feeling of indifference toward him fade. Mihawk didn’t even know who you were and he never would.
Today would’ve been your chance to tell him and it hadn’t even crossed your mind.
What you found hard to admit was that you’d been too scared to tell Zoro the truth and that cowardness is what got him hurt. If you had just been honest with him, maybe none of this wouldn’t have happened. Zoro wouldn’t have gotten hurt and nobody on the crew would be upset.
Why couldn’t you have just been honest?
“I was scared,” you tell Zoro. “Scared because there’s so much about my life I don’t know and the only thing I do know is so unimportant.” Breathing in sharply, you force the words out. “So what if Mihawk is my father? It hadn’t mattered before. But it mattered last night and I should’ve told you… If I told you, you wouldn’t be hurt and the crew wouldn’t have to be worried about you not waking up.”
Pressing your free hand to your forehead, you shake your head. “I’m so sorry, Zoro,” you sob, feeling your eyes water as curl into yourself. “I’m so sorry because you’re hurt and because I think I may love you… and my life is so utterly unimportant that you deserve better than someone like me… Someone who will just ruin your life.”
Your hand leaves his, pressing against your lips as you let yourself cry. You let yourself cry out the anguish in your chest that weighs you down and hurts. You cry and cry, stifling your sobs behind your hand, letting it all out.
Until, eventually, you fall asleep from the exhaustion.
The exhaustion of not sleeping the night before, of being tense and terrified for Zoro, for the guilt that feels like it might eat you alive.
You stay like that for a while, until soft hands gently shake you awake.
“Come on, love. Wake up.”
Letting out a soft groan, your eyes flutter at the voice, hands moving instinctively to rub at your eyes. It takes you a second to wake yourself up, confused as you slowly straighten out. You first see Zoro before your head turns, and your eye falls on Sanji who’s standing behind you.
“Sanji?”
“You need to eat,” Sanji says, ushering you. “Come on.”
You turn back to Zoro, licking your dry lips. “I shouldn’t leave him.”
Your eyes are puffy and your eyelids ache. The last thing you remember is crying, and it occurs to you you’d fallen asleep in the midst of your break down.
“Luffy can watch him,” Sanji offers, gesturing behind him.
Turning towards the door, Luffy smiles at you warmly.
“I’ll watch Zoro for you, Y/N. I promise I’ll take good care of him.”
Dazed and still a little sleepy, you let Sanji pull you to your feet, not fighting his grip as he guides you towards the door. You glance back at Zoro one last time, feeling that crushing guilt stab at you, just as Luffy squeezes your shoulder.
“He’ll wake up, Y/N,” Luffy grins at you. “I promise.”
You nod at him, finding his words reassuring and comforting despite the doubt festering inside you.
“I’ll whip you up something tasty, Y/N.” Sanji smiles softly down at you, “okay?”
He’s incredibly gentle the entire time. You relish in it.
-
“Can I have a moment alone with him?”
Meeting Nami’s eyes, you nod, moving to stand. She sends you a smile, though it seems off, as you walk past her.
Letting the door fall shut behind you, you make your way into the kitchen. You bite your lip, trying to ignore the nerves rattling your body. After Nami had come running into the kitchen where you and Sanji were, you eating after he’d made you a meal like he promised, it was instantly clear something was wrong. She had been going on about some pirate named Arlong, calling for Luffy in between explaining to you. Most importantly, she looked terrified.
Turns out Arlong was attacking Baratie looking for Luffy and the Grand Line map.
Nami’s attempt at getting Luffy to take the Going Merry and run had been fruitless and he, Sanji and Usopp had gone to confront Arlong. Luffy had told Nami to stay behind to protect the map, before turning to you and telling you to watch over Zoro for him. When you’d tried to argue and say you could help, he’d just shaken his head and said you were still healing from your last fight and Zoro was more important.
So, for the last twenty or so minutes, you and Nami were in the Going Merry. She’d disappeared elsewhere on the ship the second the three left, so you assigned yourself back next to Zoro, opting to read to him like Nami had before in the hopes that maybe that’d get him to wake up.
You had, at least, until Nami had popped her head into the room.
You hoped everything was going well. Honestly, you did want to go out and check on them, but you knew Luffy was right. Even if he hadn’t said it in that way, it was clear he didn’t want you coming because you didn’t know how to fight. You’d be more of a hindrance than any help and that reality left a sour taste in your mouth.
Hearing footsteps approach, you turn, face easing when you see Nami coming out of the room.
“Everything okay?” You ask, despite knowing in fact nothing was okay.
She nods, stepping out of the room and you smile at her as you walk past her, squeezing her shoulder in an attempt to comfort both her and yourself. You think nothing of the look on her face, chalking it up to everything that had and is happening just making her a little off.
At least, until you hear the door slam shut behind you.
Stilling right next to Zoro, your head snaps towards the door. You hesitate for a moment, baffled, before your feet instinctively carry you towards it, hand falling on the knob. Maybe she’d shut it by accident? Or maybe she wanted to give you privacy as you had for her?
Except, the door won’t open when you turn it.
“N-Nami?”
You know she’s by the door. You can see her shadow through the small opening at the bottom. You can hear her heavy breathing.
“Nami,” you call again, voice louder. “Why is the door locked?”
There’s a moment that passes before she answers.
“Sorry, Y/N. I can’t let you out.”
“What?” You breathe, bewildered. There’s something awful twisting in your chest. You try the door again, it doesn’t open. “Nami, what the hell is going on? What are you doing?”
“I’m doing what I always planned to do.”
Her voice is muffled through the door, but the low tone scares you all the same.
Using your left hand, you slam it against the door. “Let me out, Nami. Now.”
“You’ll be safe in there.”
You hear her take a step toward and your heart lurches, yanking on the door as you start to pound against it more aggressively. “Nami?”
“I’m sorry.”
You see her shadow disappear and soon, her footsteps are gone too. You stand there, stunned, before you start to yank on the door again. You pull at it, trying to twist it. But it’s clearly jammed shut.
Nami had made sure you weren’t going to be able to get out.
Minutes pass of you banging on the door, with no luck, until eventually you tire yourself out.
Head hanging in your hands, you try to ignore the shake of your body as you sit there, forced to wait.
At the first sound of footsteps, you jump to your feet.
“Hey!” You call, banging on the door. “Luffy? Usopp?”
“Y/N?”
It’s Usopp.
Yanking on the door, you call out to him; “let me out!”
It takes him no more than a few seconds to open the door, yanking it open as you meet his eyes with relief.
“Usopp,” you breathe, “you have to listen to me. It’s Nami. She—”
You move to ramble out what had happened, but fall silent the second you see the look on Usopp’s face.
“Usopp?” You question, voice quiet. “Why are you…?”
Just then Sanji comes stumbling down the stairs of the kitchen, with Luffy in his arms, the latter looking beat up and hurt. Both of them are sopping wet.
Your eyes widen.
“Nami, she…” Usopp speaks up, looking nervous. “She betrayed us.”
-
“Y/N, seriously!”
Shaking your head, you stumble behind Usopp. “Seriously what, Usopp?”
You’re mildly annoyed, but you figure he has a good reason—whatever that reason is. He hasn’t elected to tell you yet.
You’d been getting some sleep after Luffy had practically forced you to, letting you sleep in his and the rest of the guys’ cabin since Zoro was currently occupying yours and… Nami’s. After everything that has happened, it was clear you all needed some time to digest and recoup. Even though you’d been reluctant to leave Zoro’s side, you also knew you needed some sleep or you were going to make yourself sick.
And a twenty minute sob-induced cat nap hunched over a bed didn’t count.
Only, your sleep had been cut short but Usopp all but ran into your room, yelling your name with a wide grin on his face. You couldn’t even possibly begin to think what he could be smiling about given that everything was the worst it could be, but you didn’t get the chance to ask either before he was yanking you to your feet and dragging you with him.
“Usopp—”
Whatever you’d been about to say falls silent, however, when you realize where Usopp is leading you. Body freezing, you turn to him, him already grinning at you, letting the two of you come to a stop. You glance at him, then the room, and then realize you hear a very familiar voice speaking.
Your feet move before you can stop yourself.
All chatter stops the second you come running into the room, and sure enough, still on the bed, Zoro stares back at you, but awake.
“Y/N, look, Zoro’s—!”
You don’t let Luffy finish. You don’t even really hear him speak. You run over to the other side of the bed in seconds and practically fall onto Zoro. In your excitement, you forget about his wounds, to which Zoro groans in response to your hug. Your eyes widen, your first word to him about to be ‘sorry’, as you scramble to pull back.
His arm falls around your waist before you can.
Stilling in his hold, and now careful to not let your weight fall on him, he holds you for a moment, the entire room distinctly quiet.
Then, his arm leaves and you pull back, staring down at him.
“Hey,” you breathe, unable to stop the curl of your lips. Despite everything, that short greeting is what feels right.
It’s all you can manage.
His lips curve into a soft smile; “hey.”
-
Raising your hand, you softly knock on the door.
Zoro’s head snaps towards you, easing when he realizes it’s you.
You step into the room with a gentle smile, and nod at him; “let me.” You offer, gesturing loosely to the bandages surrounding him. “I got pretty good at it after…” You let your voice trail, and Zoro huffs.
“I’d bet. You never let anyone help you.”
Sitting next to him, you shrug. “I could do it on my own.” Laughing quietly, you pick up the bandages that are wildly thrown about the bed. “Unlike you.”
Zoro scoffs but he doesn’t stop you as you start to unwrap the bandages he’d loosely wrapped around himself, redoing it.
Silence echoes for a moment, before Zoro speaks up.
“I can’t believe the waiter is joining us.”
Huffing a laugh, you roll your eye. “Sanji is nice,” you defend. “And a good fighter I hear from Luffy.”
Zoro frowns. “He’s a waiter.”
You just shake your head, snorting to yourself.
Then, you hesitate, hands hovering. You can't help but ask, since it’s been weighing on you since she’d left. “You think Nami meant it all? That she never actually cared about us?”
“Don’t know,” he shrugs. “Maybe.”
Biting your lip, you frown. You don’t want that to be the truth.
“Y/N.”
His voice is serious as he calls for you, and it makes you freeze.
“I heard you.”
Your muscles tense, and you refuse to let your gaze wander from your hands, fiddling with your fingers.
Zoro doesn’t let you. In the next second, his hand is falling over your own, pulling them away from what you’d been doing. Your lips part as he does, heart fluttering as he shifts his hand so his fingers threads through yours instead of just being wrapped around your wrist.
Your cheeks warm instantly.
“Y/N. Look at me.”
His voice is raspy from being asleep for so long. It sends shivers down your spine.
Still, you listen, raising your head and meeting his eyes.
“I didn’t think you could hear me,” you whisper.
“I could,” he nods. “About your father and…” His voice trails.
Swallowing thickly, you choose to focus on the first thing first. “I… Does it bother you?”
Zoro’s lips part, stunned at your forwardness and you realize your mistake.
“About… Mihawk.”
“Oh,” he breathes. “No.”
It’s not what you’re expecting. He says it so bluntly, so sure of himself.
“It… doesn’t?”
“You have your reasons,” he shrugs, still holding your hand. “And it wouldn’t have changed my mind. Defeating Mihawk is my goal, that won’t change.”
His words hurt you, but you also know that you have no right to argue otherwise.
“I’m still sorry you got hurt.”
Zoro shakes his head. “It wasn’t your fault.” Then, when you don’t respond, he squeezes your hand. “It wasn’t.”
His voice is sharp and leaves no room for argument.
You nod. “Thank you,” you say, “I’m… so relieved you’re okay.”
Zoro breathes in sharply, and then he lowers his hand, taking yours with him.
There’s a beat of silence, then; “I think I love you too.”
It seems that Zoro is just full of surprises at that moment.
Body turning rigid, you blink at him.
His cheeks have a light flush and he’s now the one turned away. “I… You were wrong… I don’t deserve someone better than you. I… I want you.”
“Zoro…”
He turns back to you, quickly, as if the words are both hard to speak but leaving him before he can stop himself. “But I… I don’t know how to be… I don't know how to be with you,” he explains, the words awkward and forced. You can tell he’s trying, words stumbling off the tip of his tongue. “I’ve only had one friend in my life and she’s dead. Before you guys, I had no one. I don’t know how to be someone you can depend on.”
You let his words sink in and you take in the look on his face. He’s embarrassed, you can tell, but he’s waiting for you to respond, patiently. You realize he’s leaving the decision up to you.
You think of, once again, your conversation with Sanji. You think of how you felt when Zoro had been unconscious in that bed. You think of everything that’s happened.
“I…” You start, voice soft. “I don’t know how to either,” you explain, shoulders dropping with the weight of your confession. “I’ve been alone for so long too, Zoro. And at first I wasn’t going to say anything. I didn’t understand my feelings so I was just going to ignore them. But then… seeing you fight like that and get hurt… waiting for you to wake up… I know that it can happen again. To either of us. I know that neither of us will ever be completely safe. I know you will never give up on your goal.”
Zoro frowns, and there’s a flicker of disappointment in his gaze.
It’s you who squeezes his hand this time, pulling his attention back on you.
“But I don’t want to do any of that without you,” you finish. “I… want to do this all with you. I want to save Nami with you. I want to explore the Grand Line with you. I want to help you complete your goal. Not just as your friend but more.”
The second you finish, breathless, Zoro is pulling you towards him. His actions speak louder than words and it seems his instincts allow him to act without any fluster of embarrassment. It pulls a gasp from your lips but you don’t stop him, hands falling on his shoulders as you lean into his touch. You’re careful of his wounds as he tugs you into his lap, his hands settling on your hips as his forehead falls against yours, breathing heavily.
“Fuck,” he inhales sharply, before shuddering a breath. “Can I kiss you?”
You smile at his response, thinking it’s so very Zoro, and nod. “Please.”
His lips are on yours instantly, pulling you close to him as you cup his cheeks, letting your hands thread through his hair. Your stomach flutters at the kiss, feeling your insides turn to jelly at the sensation. His hands on your skin feel like fire in the best way possible, molding your lips against his as he tugs you closer and closer even when there’s nowhere else for you to go.
You let your nails drag across his scalp, his lips warm and soft against your own.
And then, just as your lips part to allow his tongue to slip inside, a voice calls out;
“Zoro!”
You both pull back, startled. Zoro groans softly as he twists his body wrong, agitating his wound while your head snaps round to see Luffy.
He pauses, hovering at the door, at the sight of you two, you on Zoro’s lap with the both of you looking thoroughly flushed.
Luffy looks confused.
“Luffy,” Zoro huffs, pressing his hand to his forehead, one still gripping your hip, as you laugh quietly to yourself. “Leave.”
Oblivious as always, Luffy just nods; “sure thing, Zoro.”
You’re positive you’ll be getting an earful from Usopp later.
His footsteps fade and you turn back to Zoro, giggling.
“He never knocks,” Zoro groans, pulling at his hair.
You pull his hand away, moving instead to hold it. Zoro flushes at the action.
“That’s okay,” you shrug. “I imagine it’ll be like that a lot.”
Zoro only groans further at the thought, but he knows you’re right.
You move to stand, slipping off his lap and panicking when you realize you didn’t finish bandaging him properly. Zoro laughs as you fuss over him, moving when you tell him to and watching you with amused eyes.
Just as you sit down next to him, though, he whispers out;
“Together, then.”
You blink at his words, cheeks still a light flush, before you remember your earlier words.
You smile; “together.”

End of Chapter Note: I know that I’ve made the reader Mihawk’s daughter who is canonically light-skinned. I have left the readers mother open to try and be as ambiguous and inclusive as possible. Apologies to anyone that finds this detail stops them from being able to “insert” themselves into the story.

A Mystery Benefactor

Fandom: Criminal Minds
Summary: The BAU team begins to notice Spencer Reid’s sudden upgrade in accessories—an expensive watch, a designer satchel—sparking curiosity. When Garcia delivers a package containing a luxury tie and a note signed Love, Y/N, the truth unravels: Spencer has a mystery benefactor—his wealthy girlfriend. The team demands answers, and the next day, you arrive at the office, effortlessly charming everyone. Over dinner, they interrogate you about your wealth, teasing Spencer mercilessly. Despite his embarrassment, it’s clear—he’s completely smitten, and you have every intention of spoiling him for a long time.
Pairing: Reader/Spencer Reid
The first time the team noticed something was different about Spencer, it was subtle. A new watch—sleek, expensive-looking, but nothing too flashy. Derek Morgan had squinted at it during a briefing, noting how it gleamed under the fluorescent lights.
“New watch, pretty boy?” Morgan teased, nudging Spencer’s arm.
Spencer, who had been flipping through a case file, blinked and quickly tucked his wrist under the table. “Uh, yeah. Just something I—uh—picked up.”
JJ raised an eyebrow. “Picked up? Since when do you shop for anything that isn’t books?”
Spencer hesitated. He wasn’t exactly great at lying, so he just hummed noncommittally and went back to his papers. The team shared a look but let it go.
Then came the new leather satchel, replacing the beat-up messenger bag he had used since his first year at the BAU.
Emily eyed it curiously. “Is that… designer?”
Spencer looked down at the smooth, high-quality leather and gulped. “I… I don’t know.”
Morgan let out a low whistle. “Kid, that bag costs at least a thousand bucks.”
“That’s… that’s a lot, huh?” Spencer winced.
“Reid, where the hell are you getting all this stuff?” Rossi asked, giving him a knowing look. “Did you finally take my advice and start playing poker again?”
Hotch, though focused on his paperwork, raised an eyebrow at that. Spencer shook his head rapidly. “No! No gambling.”
More murmurs from the team. The mystery of Spencer’s sudden upgrade in accessories continued.
But it wasn’t until Garcia waltzed in holding a package that things got even more suspicious.
“Ooooh, my genius bean, something arrived for you!” she sang, setting a box on the table in front of him. It was wrapped elegantly, the brand logo discreet but expensive.
The team practically hovered as Spencer hesitated before peeling the wrapping away. Inside was a stunning silk tie in deep purple, along with a handwritten note.
Wear this tonight. Miss you. - Love, Y/N
Spencer’s ears went red.
Morgan snatched the note before Spencer could react. His eyebrows shot up. “Who the hell is Y/N?”
Emily leaned in. “Are we missing something? A girlfriend, maybe?”
The room went silent.
Spencer, realizing he was very much caught, fidgeted. “Uh…”
The team exploded.
“YOU HAVE A GIRLFRIEND?!”
“How did we not know this?!”
“Wait, wait, wait. She’s the one buying you all this fancy stuff?!”
Spencer cleared his throat. “She… she enjoys treating me, yeah.”
Morgan shook his head, amused. “Damn, pretty boy. You’ve been holding out on us. Who is this mysterious sugar mama?”
Spencer groaned, hiding his face behind his hands. “She’s not a sugar mama. She’s just… well-off.”
“How well-off?” Rossi asked, smirking.
Spencer hesitated before mumbling, “Very.”
“Ohhh, we need to meet her,” Garcia grinned.
Spencer sighed, already regretting everything.
***
The BAU team didn’t have to wait long. The very next day, as they wrapped up their morning meeting, an unexpected visitor strolled into the bullpen.
You walked in confidently, dressed sharply, carrying a small bag in your hand. The team barely had time to react before Spencer spotted you, his eyes going wide.
“Oh no,” he mumbled under his breath.
Morgan, Emily, and JJ all turned at once.
“Is that…?” JJ started.
“Ohhh, she’s gorgeous,” Garcia whispered, fanning herself dramatically.
You smiled as you reached Spencer’s desk. “Hey, handsome,” you greeted, leaning down to press a soft kiss to his cheek.
Morgan’s jaw dropped. “No. Way.”
Spencer coughed, his entire face heating up. “Um. Guys. This is… uh, this is my girlfriend, Y/N.”
“Girlfriend?” Rossi repeated with amusement. “More like mystery benefactor.”
You chuckled, holding up the bag. “Actually, I just came to drop off his lunch. He left it at home.”
Hotch, who had been observing with a rare smirk, finally spoke. “So, Y/N, should we be expecting more luxury deliveries for Dr. Reid?”
You grinned. “I do like spoiling him.”
Morgan shook his head in disbelief. “I gotta ask—how did you two even meet?”
Spencer sighed, resigning himself to the inevitable. “We met at a lecture I was giving a year ago. She—”
“I thought he was adorable,” you finished for him, smiling. “So I asked him out.”
JJ looked between the two of you, impressed. “And let me guess—he said no at first?”
You laughed. “Oh, absolutely. But I was persistent.”
Rossi raised an eyebrow. “Persistent and wealthy. Kid, you hit the jackpot.”
Spencer groaned, covering his face again.
Emily leaned back in her chair. “Alright, Y/N, I think it’s time for the real question. Just how well-off are we talking?”
You glanced at Spencer, who gave you a pleading look. Smiling mischievously, you reached into your bag and pulled out a set of keys, tossing them to Morgan.
He caught them and stared. “Wait. This is…” His eyes flicked to you in shock. “You drive an Aston Martin?”
You winked. “One of them.”
The team erupted into laughter and disbelief, while Spencer simply sighed in surrender.
***
That evening, the team insisted on taking you out for dinner to “interrogate” you properly. They chose a fancy restaurant, much to Spencer’s dismay.
Garcia, grinning, leaned in the moment you sat down. “So, Y/N, I have to know—what is it about our dear Spencer that caught your attention?”
You smiled at your boyfriend, who was already looking like he wanted to disappear into his seat. “Oh, that’s easy. He’s brilliant, kind, and the most fascinating man I’ve ever met.”
Spencer coughed. “I—uh, well—”
Morgan smirked. “And the fact that he looks like a model in a lab coat?”
You laughed. “That doesn’t hurt.”
Hotch, ever the observer, finally spoke up. “Spencer mentioned you were… very well-off.”
You sipped your drink before nodding. “That’s true.”
Emily raised an eyebrow. “Like ‘comfortable’ well-off, or ‘private jet’ well-off?”
You gave Spencer a knowing look before shrugging. “Somewhere in between.”
Morgan whistled. “Damn, pretty boy, you really did win the lottery.”
Spencer groaned again as the team laughed.
As the night went on, you fit right in with the BAU family. They teased Spencer mercilessly, but you could tell they adored him just as much as you did. And despite his embarrassment, he couldn’t stop sneaking little glances at you, his expression soft with affection.
By the end of the evening, Garcia threw her arms around you. “You’re officially one of us now, sugar mama.”
Spencer groaned. “She’s not a sugar mama!”
Morgan grinned. “Right, right. Just a very generous, very wealthy girlfriend who buys our boy luxury gifts.”
You squeezed Spencer’s hand under the table, smiling. “And I plan to keep spoiling him for a long time.”
The team cheered, Spencer turned bright red, and you knew this wouldn’t be the last time they teased him about you.

hsr characters as your pets, namely cats. I hope you enjoy it. I apologize for the possible ooc.
reader x dan heng, caelus, phainon (separately)
Dan Heng
A very calm and non-confrontational cat. Gets along well with other pets, if they are in your house.
Not picky about food, but still prefers your cooking. If you feed him something delicious, you can hear him purring softly.
Unlike many other cats, he is not afraid of water. On the contrary, he willingly goes into the water if it is cool or warm. He calmly waits until all the spa treatments are completed, which makes your job much easier.
He's not the most talkative, affectionate and active cat in the world, but he always responds when you call him. He always listens attentively to you when you're talking enthusiastically. And at night he likes to lie down on your feet, warm them and purr softly.
If you're sad, in pain, or crying, he'll try to comfort you by rubbing against you, purring, and snuggling up to you. Needless to say, it more than helps?
You often lose some small things, such as keys, and somehow he always finds them and brings them to you. You don't understand how he does it, but it's still very nice.
As for outsiders, he doesn't particularly like them coming. He reacts calmly to them, but always stays away. For example, he's sitting on the couch and watching a new person in your house.
It is not strongly attached to its habitat, it is more attached to its owner, that is, to you. He'll miss the old house, of course, but he's also not against moving. He even shows interest in his new place of residence.
He loves you very much, just like you love him. You thank everyone you can for getting such a good friend and pet.
Caelus
And this is not a cat, but a disaster. Unlike Dan Heng, he is very active and constantly gets into some strange situations. He definitely has a talent for it.
He's certainly not picky about food, he'll eat anything you give him. Sometimes it seems to you that he has a black hole instead of a stomach, because how the hell does he fit so much and he's still hungry??
He's not afraid of water either, but you should be patient, because you won't be able to do spa treatments in peace. As already mentioned, he's very active, so you need to keep him occupied so that he doesn't think to leave the bath in the middle of the procedure. That already was, and you were ready to kill him.
Very talkative. It doesn't matter if you're busy with something or not, he'll say whatever he thinks. But if he's quiet and you can't hear him, then this can only mean two options. First, he's done something wrong and is trying to cover up the crime. The second one, he's not feeling well.
He is also very playful. You have a lot of different toys at home. But for some reason, the box and the packages are his favorites.
This kid is like ginger cats, you'll never guess what came into his head. At first he may purr and caress, and the next moment he wakes up in him the desire to bite you. Or he suddenly attacks you from around the corner when you least expect it.
Nevertheless, at night he likes to lie down next to you and purr like a tractor. And loudly. But somehow it's like white noise to you, and it's hard to fall asleep without it.
He immediately notices when you feel bad. He may not be very good at comforting, but the fact that he's trying to cheer you up, albeit clumsily, makes you feel better.
If Dan Heng is the one who finds your lost things, then Caelus is the one who gets your things lost. You find them in the most unexpected places. How did he even manage to hide the TV remote in the cupboard??
He is interested in every new visitor to your house. He won't be as affectionate and talkative with them as he is with you, but he won't stay away either. He will look at a person with interest and, for example, touch him with his paw or, if he likes a person, play with him.
Wherever you go, he will always be curious. He will actively explore new territory and get to know the world around him. He looks so cute in those moments, he's like a child.
Even though he's a walking disaster and often gets on your nerves, he's still very attached to you and loves you very much. He's not perfect, but that's why you love him.
Phainon
And here we are, have the perfect balance. Quite calm, but quite playful at the same time. Gets along well with other pets. And he doesn't give you any problems.
He's not picky about food, but like Dan Heng, he prefers your cooking more. He purrs softly if the food is really delicious.
He is very willing to go into the water. You can tell by his whole appearance that he enjoys spa treatments. That's why he always smells delicious and his coat is shiny.
As already mentioned, although he's calm, he doesn't mind playing either. You have several toys that he likes to play with.
He's a walking anti-stress guy, not a cat. It's enough for him to meow a couple of times, purr and settle on your feet, and your stress and fatigue go away instantly. At night, you sleep soundly with him in your arms. He purrs softly so as not to wake you up, and warms you up. Dream.
He's your little helper. He finds lost items even before you realize that you've lost something somewhere in the house, and brings them to you. You're very interested in how he does it. Or he calls you when you ask for it. For example, if you ask him to call you when the water starts to boil, he will actually call you. Sometimes it seems to you that there is a person in the body of a cat next to you, and not an ordinary cat.
When you're working, he either sits next to you or on your lap, waiting for you to finish your work. Needless to say, how does it add motivation to finish everything as quickly as possible?
Not to say that he's against strangers in your home. He won't shy away from them, but he won't fawn over them either. His affection belongs only to you. He will sit next to you and calmly look at the guest.
The change of location scares him a little, but he tries not to show it. While you're around, he's exploring a new area with interest and caution. He looks so cute that you can't resist taking a few photos.
Anyway, you have a whole photo album with him. He's too photogenic and handsome, there's nothing you can do about it. And it doesn't look like he's against it.
He's very attached to you and loves you very much. You feel the same way, so there's an idyll in your house. You don't even need a boyfriend with a cat like that.

"Caffeine and Affection"
Pairing: Spencer Reid x gn!reader
Genre: Fluff
Words: 2k
Warnings: excessive caffeine consumption, but otherwise pure fluff
Summary: For Valentine’s Day Spencer surprises you with a very special bouquet!
a/n: requested: yes! Thank you very much, hope you enjoy it!
The BAU ran on coffee.
At least, most of it did. Hotch practically had a coffee IV, Rossi wouldn’t touch anything under espresso-level strength, and even Spencer—who could rant about the adverse effects of caffeine for hours—drank coffee when cases ran late.
But you? You were different.
Your fuel of choice came in cans, not cups. Whether it was soda or energy drinks, you always had something sugary and carbonated in your hand. It had become part of your identity—something the team liked to tease you about but ultimately accepted.
Spencer, however, took a particular interest in your habit.
“You know,” he had told you one day, watching you crack open yet another can, “the excessive consumption of sugar and caffeine can lead to increased heart rate, insomnia, and dependency.”
You had grinned at him, unfazed. “Sounds like a problem for future me.”
He had sighed, shaking his head. “Future you is going to be very disappointed in past you.”
Despite his concerns, he never actually told you to stop. If anything, he seemed intrigued by your preferences—often asking which flavors you liked best, what brands you preferred, and even quizzing you on why you liked soda over coffee.
It was… cute.
Spencer had always been the kind of person who paid attention, but when it came to you, it felt like he noticed everything.
Which was why, on Valentine’s Day, when he approached your desk with a nervous expression and something hidden behind his back, you immediately knew he was up to something.
“Spence?” You tilted your head, setting down your can of soda. “What are you doing?”
His lips twitched in that shy, almost awkward way he did when he was nervous. “I, uh… got you something.”
Before you could respond, he revealed what he had been hiding.
It wasn’t flowers. It wasn’t chocolates.
It was a bouquet. But instead of roses or lilies, it was made entirely of your favorite sodas and energy drinks, all carefully arranged and tied together with a big, bright bow.
You blinked. Stared. Opened your mouth. Closed it.
Then, finally, you burst into laughter. “Oh my God, Spencer!”
His ears went a little pink. “I read that people appreciate personalized gifts, and I know you don’t really drink coffee, so I figured this was a more… suitable alternative.”
You reached out, taking the bouquet from him with wide eyes. It was surprisingly well put together—each can securely fastened with ribbon, the entire thing looking both ridiculous and oddly adorable.
“This is—Spencer, this is amazing.” You grinned up at him. “Did you make this yourself?”
He nodded, rubbing the back of his neck. “I had to look up a tutorial. It took longer than I expected.”
You could just picture him sitting at home, carefully arranging cans of soda into a bouquet, meticulously tying them together with absolute precision. The thought made your heart swell.
Without thinking, you threw your arms around him, squeezing tightly. “You’re the best.”
Spencer tensed for half a second before quickly melting into the hug, his arms wrapping around you just as firmly. “I’m glad you like it.”
You pulled back slightly, grinning. “Like it? Spencer, this is the most thoughtful gift anyone has ever given me.”
His smile was small but full of warmth. “Then it was worth it.”
You looked down at your wonderful bouquet and then back at him, your heart hammering a little harder than usual.
Maybe it wasn’t just the caffeine making it race.

…………………………………………………………………………….
“The treatment plan is this, you are to start chemotherapy followed by surgery to remove the rest of the tumor, then chemotherapy again for the final stage of treatment.”- doctors Adams
Joe and yourself sat in the two blue chairs in front of Doctor Adams. His voice sincere and mellow.
“So, chemotherapy then do the surgery and after surgery chemotherapy again?”- Joe
“Yes, correct.”- Doctor Adams
Joe looked at you.
You were still and quiet, picking at your fingers. Do you even want to go through all of this again? Should you? You knew you had to fight, but didn’t know how much strength you could give.
“How…how long would the treatment be?”- you
“Probably around 5 months.”- Doctor Adams
You nod.
“What times would she need to come in? Does she-”- Joe
“What happens if I don’t do the treatment?”- you
Joe looked at you confused.
“Then you will enjoy time with your family and friends. You still can while in treatment.”- Doctor Adams
“Right.”- you nod
——————————-
You guys were walking to the car hand in hand. The weight of the conversation weighed on both of you.
“Joe, I don’t know if I can do it.”-you
Joe stopped.
“I don’t know if I have enough strength to give. I went through this before. I don’t want to go through it again.”- you
“Y/n, it’s your choice, but at least try. You are the strongest person I know. You can do whatever you set your mind and heart to”- joe
“I just…I will do it. I just don’t want to have my last moments on this world having to be inside a hospital room filled with ill people. I want to be able to watch you at games and cheer you on with Bella. Not be in some hospital room.”- you
“Y/n don’t talk like that. You’re not going to die. You can’t.”- Joe
“Joe! Wake up. This is real. I know it sucks and it’s sucks to think about but it needs to be said.”- you
“I know. Let’s talk about this later, but I hear you and I see you. Whatever you decide I will stand by you..”- Joe
Joe kisses your forehead.
“I love you.”- Joe
“I love you too, let’s go home.”- you
Joe opens the car door for you to get in.
————————————————-
The room was filled with sweaty kids and the lingering smell of cigarettes and weird alcohol beverages.
“Y/n! Come here!”- Lily called you over
You nod.
Wearing your black Jean skirt with white tank top and obviously paired with your black converse.
“Y/n, meet Joe and Sam.”- Lily smiles
Sam reached out his hand for you to shake.
“Hi, I’m Sam.”- Sam
“Y/n,Nice to meet you!”- you
Joe then reached his hand.
“Joe.”- Joe
“Nice to meet you, Joe.”- you
You noticed he was kind of quiet.
“They play football. They are pretty good. I was telling them we are going to next week’s game.”- Lily
“Oh! Cool. I’m excited for the game, heard it’s a big one.”- you
“Yeah, against Michigan. Hate those guys.”- Sam
You laugh
“Oh, Sam, let’s go play beer pong!”- Lily
Lily pulls Sam away.
Now it’s just you and Joe.
“So, you play football. What position?”- you smile
“QB2.”- joe
“Wow! Not bad, Joe.”- you
Joe laughs
“I’m a back up. Nobody cares about me.”- Joe
“Don’t say that! I haven’t seen you play, but I’m positive you are a great player.”- you
“Thanks.”- joe smiles
You nod
The music is loud and the sounds of plastic cups falling keep filling the room.
“Where are you from?”- joe
“California. Born and raised in Huntington Beach.”- you
“Wow! That’s nice. I was born and raised in Athens, Ohio.”- Joe
“Oh! Ohio native, that’s nice.”- you
God, why did I say that. “Ohio native”
“Yeah, very different from cali.”- Joe
“Yeah, very different.”- you nod
“Want to go somewhere more quiet? I honestly can’t deal with all of this right now.”- joe laughs
“Sure, it’s a bit Loud for me too.”- you
Joe leads you to his room. The only quiet place where there isn’t shouting and speakers in your ears.
“I like your room. Surprisingly clean.”- you chuckle
“Thanks, I try.”- joe laughs
You then sat on the edge of his bed. Red solo cup in hand and legs crossed.
“Do you have any siblings?”- joe
“A sister. Her name is Spencer.”- you
“Nice.”- joe plays with the pen on his desk
“What about you?”- you
“I have two half brothers. Both way older than me. Jamie and Daniel.”- joe
“Oh, that’s nice. Are you close?”- you
“Yeah, when I was born they were In college, but I try to talk to them everyday even when they give me shit.”- Joe
You laugh.
Joe kept talking. The more you listened to him the more you felt more intrigued by him. His confidence, his demeanor, his humor, and his features. The way the corners of his eyes when he smiles crinkles up. The way he is really passionate about something he will start to get a spark in his eyes and get more excited about the topic.
After that night you guys kept talking more and more. After a while both of you developed feelings. Strong feelings. You guys became each other’s best friends. You guys would always be dying laughing on the floor about something, holding each other’s hands in public, watching the office every night, and holding each other in your sleep and never wanting to let go.
———————————————
Fast forward to present
“Bella, daddy and I want to talk to you about something.”- you pull Bella onto your lap.
You guys were sitting on the couch. Joe next you.
Bella sat up eager to figure out what you wanted to tell her.
You felt tears pricking in your eyes, but you knew you had to stay strong and not scare Bella.
“Mommy is sick. It’s going to be hard for her these next couple months. She will be very tired, but I know we will take care of her and give her the biggest cuddles, right?”- joe
“Yes!”- Bella
You chuckle
“Do you have the flu, mommy?”- Bella
“Um, no sweetie. I have something on my ovaries which is making me sick. I have to get treatment to make it go away.”- You
“But you will be ok, right?”- Bella
You take a deep breath.
“Yeah…yeah I will be ok.”- you
You giver her a kiss on the head.
“Go play with your dolls, baby. Dinner will be ready soon”- Joe
Bella gets off your lap and runs to her room.
A tear drops down your face. You wipe it away hoping Joe doesn’t see.
But obviously he did.
“Y/n-”- Joe
You get up from the couch.
“I’m going to make dinner. pasta and ground turkey sound ok?”- You
Joe doesn’t respond. You’re already gone into the kitchen.
—————————————-
The next couple months was spent going to game and cheering on Joe. The atmosphere was electric. The fans. The lights. The feeling of hope. Of course there were some loses but you stood by Joe and helped him in ways that he couldn’t.
You did your chemo. Going in and out of the hospital.
One day you were sitting on the couch reading a book. A romance novel from one of your favorite authors when Joe sits next to you.
“We should get a dog.”- you
“What?”- Joe
“Or a cat. I heard it’s great for dealing with grief and life adjustments. Especially for kids.”- you
“Y/n, stop. You aren’t going to die. I can’t let you do that.”- Joe
“Joe! You stop. You have to think realistically. It could happen. And if it does I want you and Bella to be able to have an animal that will help you deal with all of it. Like a dog or cat.”- You
Joe stands up
“I CANT LOSE YOU, Y/N! I cant physically be away from you. I just can’t lose you. I wont let that happen. You need to fight.”- Joe
You didn’t know what to say.
“Joe…I’m sorry. Im sorry this is happening. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me.”- you stand up
“You and Bella are my world. I fight every day. On good and bad days to be able to be with both of you. To see you laugh about a SpongeBob joke, to see you hug after a long game, to see you read bedtime stories until Bella’s eyes are tired, I want to be with you and her.”- you
At this point you were full on crying.
“I want to grow old with you. I want to see you win a superbowl and MVP. I want to see you laugh and cry. I want to see your smile the second I wake up and the second I go to bed. I love you even when we fight or argue. I love you when you come home from a loss and don’t even want to say anything. I love you so much it hurts. I’m sorry this is happening. It sucks. But it’s real and I need to realize that.”- you
“I’m sorry too. I’m sorry this is happening. I love you with all my heart.”- Joe
Joe holds you.
You wish you were in a bad dream hoping to wake up.
—————————————
12 months later
“Mommy!”- Bella
“Hey.”- you smile
Bella climbs onto your hospital bed.
“Look what I made you!”- Bella
Bella holds up a card. It you and her with flowers covering the page. It’s also filled with wonky hearts and a “get well soon!”
“Aw, baby, I love it. Thank you so much.”- you pull her in for a hug and a kiss
“You’re welcome!”- Bella
Joe walks around to the other side of the bed.
“Hi.”- Joe smiles
“Hi.”- you smile back
He gives you a kiss
“How are you feeling?”- Joe
“Tired and everything aches.”- you
Joe nods.
“How about we watch something?”- Joe
“Yeah!”- Bella
Bella cuddles in next to you.
Joe moves over the big chair to be seated next to you.
“Alright! Let’s watch Moana? How does that sound?”- Joe
“Perfect.”- you
“Yes!”- Bella
Joe hits play.
As the movie goes on Joe turns to look at you.
Bella was cuddled into your side. She was sleeping and so were you.
He took a mental picture. He held on to that moment.
———————————-
The door opens to the house.
“Teddy!”- Bella
The dog comes running over to her.
“Hi!”- Bella
Bella laughs
“Alright, let’s put your book bag down and let’s make a snack.”- Joe
“Ok, daddy!”- Bella
Bella follows Joe into the kitchen.
“Want some apples and peanut butter?”- joe
“Yes, please!”- Bella
“Coming right up.”- joe picks out the apples from the fridge.
He closes it. He stands there for a second. Looking at the picture hung up from a magnet on the fridge. A picture of you. A picture of all of you.
He smiles.
It’s been a year since you’ve been gone. A year without his wife. A year without Bella having her mom around. A year since both of there life’s been changed forever.
Joe remembered a thing you said to him before you passed.
“I want you to stay strong. I want you to move on, when you are ready. I want you to know I will always be here. In your heart. I will always love you Joe burrow. I will love you forever. I’m sorry we didn’t get to grow old together. But I’m hoping you will grow old with someone else. Someone who loves you just as much as I do. Someone who will make you happy. Someone who makes Bella happy. You are such a wonderful dad. She loves you. She looks up to you. Don’t ever forget that. I love you. I know you will go on and do great things. Stay focused and be the kind loving boy that you are. I love you with all my heart.”
————————————————————
The end.
Authors note: hi!! Hope you enjoyed! I tried to make it as realistic as I could. I don’t know if anyone of you has watched the move “we live I time” but it’s a great one! Definitely recommend!🤍
