You know, while we're talking about Homestuck's artstyle, I remember a quote from Hussie herself talking about her cloud-drawing abilities.

you are RIGHT !! I mostly don't read the print commentary books bc they were written after the fact and have spoilers, but I thought it might be there so I checked, and this is in the author's commentary for page 1407 (first look at LOLAR)

'I'm not going to sit here and brag, like some big piece of shit. But I will say I've never seen anyone slander me for my cloud drawing abilities.' (Andrew Hussie, ~2018)

AND to back this up, a tumblr post from last year [spoilers] where a lot of the comments fall into two categories: either 'homestuck/andrew hussie did lots wrong but did kinda go off with the clouds' or 'I know nothing about homestuck but those are some sick ass clouds'. so. perhaps this is the one thing about homestuck that everyone can agree on?!
