curious as to what media u would recommend since u said spop isnt too good?
i sat on this ask for a bit bc honestly....spop being...not great....is my personal opinion lol. but there's also not rlly anything like it. so here's other stuff instead that's rlly good! the list isnt that huge bc my attention span is shit and my brain forces me to be unhealthily obsessed with su!! (which is also. hm) so sorry! also im basic
bojack horseman: is literally the best at representing themes of mental illness and trauma
mp100: is ultimately a show about normality and kindness
gravity falls: wacky show with good dialogue and great stakes
sally face: mystery video game with a hint of horror. very plot driven, but the characters are really fun
undertale: i was obsessed for 2 years straight and it made me almost cry
johnny the homicidal maniac: a great comic. makes fun of people, society, and most importantly, pretentious goth culture. main character is a homicidal maniac who kills people who inconvienece him. He's a likeable bitch boy. A bit of horror
i feel sick: spinoff of a character from jthm. not much to say except it's great to read if u like jthm. oh and the dude who made the series made invader zim
also here's animated movies that make me feel more than spop ever did:
rock and rule, belladonna of sadness, angel's egg, perfect blue, akira (definition of classic for a reason), barefoot gen (1 and 2), mindgame, cat soup, interstella 5555, adolescence of utena (u don't need to watch the anime to get it), paprika, grave of the fireflies, watership down, chirin's bell, filidae, ghost in the shell
and here's some books:
Song of Solomon
Everything I Never Told You
The Perks of Being a Wallflower
The Bell Jar
The Color Purple
Their Eyes Were Watching God
I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings
Sold (by Zana Muhsen)
Gabi, A Girl in Pieces
I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter
The Metamorphasis
Brace Face: a Memoir
My Sunshine Away (by M.O. Walsh)
and some books I didn't finish completely but still enjoyed:
The Autobiography of Malcolm X
How To Be an Anti Racist
Fear and Loathing in Los Vegas
The Beautiful Struggle: A Father, Two Sons, and an Unlikely Road to Manhood
The Road
Wuthering Heights
Frankenstein
Gone Girl
Les Misérables
On Earth We're Breifly Gorgeous (currently reading this!)
anyways that's all i can think of rn, sorry anon😔
