I LOVE THIS WHOLE SCENE

It's Knives indisputably being as honest as he's ever been, showing the roots of his ideology of his abuse of his aggression, stripped LITERALLY BARE as the energy is flaying him alive, as he accidentally confesses that underneath everything he never stopped being the terrified boy that found his sister in a jar.

No wonder he's willing to die for his ideals!

And there isn't any middle ground where Vash and Nai can meet! Both of their positions are all-or-nothing affairs. It's heartbreaking.
