honestly a lot of those "protective partner" tropes/prompts/imagines just feel abusive and controlling to me. like the idea that another person is gonna TELL YOU what you're allowed to do and who you're allowed to see because they "know better" and get angry if you disobey them?? and they have anger issues and get pissed at your family or even YOU. like I know it's mostly for people in abusive situations or for people who haven't really been protected irl before but it feels so gross and uncomfortable. like even "I'm not ever gonna let anyone hurt you again" or making it seem like they're the ONLY trustworthy person. you should want to build a strong support system!!!!

loving someone means respecting them enough to Let them make their own decisions, even if maybe they aren't always the best ones
