Okay so this'll be the last post I make regarding Critical Role until c3e119 airs since while the antipathy and, for lack of a better word, deflation revolving around 118 has been a little disheartening, I do want to throw a few things that continue to bounce off the inside of my head out there before we get to the next episode;

I don't think it's needed (as someone who very much wants them all to survive - including ones I like less than others - and be able to continue figuring themselves out) for BH to die or be betrayed or be subject to additional punishment to justify what's happening. This fight IS their punishment, their consequence, their Finding Out after Fucking Around

Also, if the gods refuse to help BH - if asked - it proves Ludinus right. Refusing aid would indicate that they really are picking favourites out of self interest, plus the taking on Predathos option was only proposed to BH by one of their own, so it'd be double scummy

Campaign 3 has still had some great, funny and heartbreaking moments that we shouldn't forget about just because these current events are fresh, plus C1 and 2 weren't perfect - worth reminding that too

Honestly, if FCG were alive the same thing would've happened anyway; Matt would've made the coin flip be indecisive so the cast could make the choice and Imogen would've chosen the same way

While we definitely could've built to this better, this fight will provide the floor for BH to confront a key character motivation; be it preventing the overtaking and corrupting influence of a malicious or feral psyche, having to decide whether to trust that their ally can overcome it or follow through with what a superior entrusted them to do as a countermeasure, or simply trying to protect and prevent another friend from dying - which, alongside the likely map change and expected unique minis, is actually kinda exciting

Just, let's go into 119 with an open mind, okay? They have to earn it for sure but it's not over until it's over.

your post about ewan mcgregor being hot because he feels *real* despite being objectively gorgeous and outside of the norm? 100% accurate.

there are so many actors who check off every box on the list of attractive features but still don't feel attractive because it's manufactured in a way that actually minimizes the impact. "oh yeah if someone goes on insane diets and routines every single day, they'll probably look like that." the attractiveness doesn't feel inherent and just an integral part of that person, and if you took away the toned abs and whatnot, then it's gone.

but ewan mcgregor specifically should go in top 10 male celebs who aged well. part of it is what you said about how he didn't get crazy work done (he's a celeb so i'm sure he gets care), he has lines and grey hair and all that.

and that's actually what makes him hotter. because we see these features and realize he's relatively normal...

but still looks exorbitantly better than us lmfao.

he's sometimes toned, sometimes soft, sometimes with a big bushy beard and sometimes not but always. attractive. which is something that average people don't have. i have one singular look that works for me, you know?

i guess that's why so many people go after the whole "effortless beauty" thing. because seeing someone who hasn't gone through cartwheels to appear attractive, but is still extraordinarily attractive. you can't beat that.

I agree about the top 10 celebs who aged well, and I’m also going to add to it, that he should be on it not only because he didn’t get crazy work done, and celebrates his signs of aging, but also because he was blessed with a face that allows him to still look good (or even better in my opinion xd) as he ages. He got lucky in the face lottery lol. I have so many actors who I considered super attractive when they were younger but then with age, they became kinda meh to me, but McGregor just really ticks all the boxes.

Favorite contentmaker in the Storm Hawks fandom? (Headcanons, theories, memes, etc.)

My three friends @/ya-boi-aerrow, @/ashe-alter and @/happypanda101 who I mentioned in the favourite artists post all have absolutely brilliant headcanons for Storm Hawks, but I think they're a bit too obvious for this XD

I hope they don't mind me mentioning them but @tuffdwightwest has shared some absolutely stunning lore with the discord server and I admit it can get a bit overwhelming with just how Much of it they have. 10/10, highly recommend, though they mostly post it all to Discord as far as I've seen.

I mentioned in the artist post that @rin-henricov has some fun ideas with Radarr and Stork, but I'd also like to recommend their other headcanon posts for general merbology and some of the darker paths that Storm Hawks lore can go down. I am, sadly, an awkward goober when it comes to interacting with people on Tumblr though, so I haven't left as many comments as I would like.

@brainrotgoverner has been an absolute saint with the gif posts and memes, and I'd also recommend you read their Hawkstober fics over on AO3 because they did a great job on them.

@stormseclipse, who I can't believe I forgot to include in the artists post, has some really interesting headcanons about the nightcrawlers that I think deserve more appreciation though I can't remember if they posted them to Tumblr or just discord, whoops.

Everyone in this fandom is genuinely so creative, and if I could list out and tag every single person without this post taking up several screens then I would XD Y'all are amazing.

okay so I’m gonna leave it here for tonight bc I’m on my phone which doesn’t have a proper ruler, but calculating from the pose in his shop which is 3.5 metres tall, it makes him about 13-13.5 metres long in total.

I did some digging and the thickness of a sea snake’s skin is somewhere between 2-9.8 micrometers (so 0.2-0.98 millimeters), and in terms of large terrestrial snakes (bc I couldn’t find anything on sea snakes), the skin thickness to width ratio is about 1:10 - 1:20 depending on species. The reason I’m doing this is bc in order to fillet the tail it would need to be skinned first before cooking and would therefore slightly change the body mass/actual cut size.

So tomorrow what I’ll have to do is measure the width of the tail compared to the length, calculate the proportionate equivalent to determine the skin thickness and then take it off the total.

In order to get the fillet size, I’ll have to get stuff for like, bone size and density to see where to subtract from that, and then calculate the weight as well combining both human weight per cm and snake weight per cm (i am NOT doing it for every thing in the document, im aware it won’t be perfect but I’m not matpat)

So far only 6 one-shots! The rest of my multi-chapter fics are still ongoing.

This is my first year writing ACOTAR fics so I started 4 ongoing fics!

4. What was your favorite thing you wrote?

This is like picking a favorite kid haha, but Flying Changes has definitely change my life for the better. It just started off from a simple idea I posted and the reaction I got was explosive in the best way possible.

I rode for eight years when I was younger before I had to give it up for a lot of reasons. One day I would love to return to it, but for right now I'm reconnecting to it through my favorite couple <3

5. What piece was your most experimental or different from your usual style?

So two pieces I think best fit this question which is The Joker and the Queen and Labyrinth of the Night.

The Joker and the Queen is a fluff rom-com piece for the Acotar Gift Exchange and it's different my usual smut and or angsty fics, but in the best ways! It's such a fun piece to write and make Nessian be idiots in love.

I also chose Labyrinth of the Night as it's my only feysand fic (for now 👀). I'm a Nessian writer so writing outside my main ship is always a bit hard. I haven't always been a fan of feysand but I've read a few feysand fics that I just loved that I wanted to take a swing.

6. Did any fics surprise you - either while writing or their reception?

Honestly, The Blood on your Hands. I was mad about HOFAS once again, so I wrote a small fic of Cassian beating the brakes off Rhys for his reaction to Nesta (don't worry, Rhys is fine. Maybe I'll write a sequel where Feyre plays doctor xD).

I wrote this fic getting out my feelings and before I knew it the reception was huge. It's my most popular one-shot to date.

7. Do you have a fic you wrote and loved that went under the radar? (This is your sign to reblog/repost it!)

Probably Keeping the Summer Nights Away. It's a small fluff piece for Nessian week, and it's just very simple, but I honestly just loved writing Nessian doing a self-care night together haha.

8. Who is an artist that inspired you?

Oh jeez so many but to name a few - @dustjacketdraws madschofield (instagram), llibiarts (instagram), @jmoonjones, @janearts, @vivictory-draws.

These artists amazing at what they do and their art always makes my jaw drop!

9. Who is an author that inspired you?

Oh my goodness, again a lot of people but to name the ones who really convinced me (literally just by their writing alone) to jump head first back into writing fanfcition - @c-e-d-dreamer @kale-theteaqueen @separatist-apologist @moodymelanist to name a few.

I read ACOTAR back in 2020 so a little a before it really blew up, and eventually I ended up on Tumblr again seeking actoar content when Twitter got too toxic for me.

I was fanfic reader for the longest time. I did write for other fandoms when I was younger, but I either deleted or orphaned my works as I grew out of said fandoms. So for about four years, I just read fanfiction from the ACOTAR fandom. It was too the point that I tried to read whatever new Nessian fic was uploaded daily haha.

I wanna shout out one of the first Nessian fics I read, A Favor. It was the first fanfic that really spoke to me that I wasn't alone in how I felt about Nesta and her treatment with Cassian/the IC and vise versa. Come to find out years later, it's a classic for a lot of Nessian stans.

13. What did you learn about writing or creating this year?

That I should be kinder to myself, and it's probably best to start off small. I started a fic back in March/April of this year with Eris/OC and I think the concept was good, but there was so much thought I was putting into, that I just ended up bored. It was going to be a heavy plot story about Rhysand's daughter that he had with Amarantha that featured dragons and a ton of OCs, but it just honestly back fired lol.

It was way too complicated and I didn't have the spoons for it. And you know, it happens lol. I have since deleted the fic because I don't plan to work on it.

14. What is your advice?

It's the most basic writing advice, but write what you know. If you go too far out of your comfort zone, it may be more damning for you in the long run.

Also if you can, use a text-to-speech service to help hear your story before you post it. I use the immersive reader on Outlook (I don't send my fics anywhere lol, but immersive reader is available for drafts). It's not perfect, but it helps give me a second pair eyes when I'm tired of visually editing.

15. What are your creative goals for 2025?

Finish at least two if not three of my ongoing fics! Participate in more character and ship weeks/weekends. Maybe finally get enough money to get a commission done for one of my fics.

1. Are you named after anyone?

Nope!

2. When was the last time you cried?

Literally last night lol

3. Do you have kids?

No. Never even been in a relationship but also never want kids for various reasons

4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?

Ye, probably a little too much. And due to the way I talk thanks to my tism people often don't realize I'm being sarcastic LOL makes for some very awkward moments sometimes but I'm trying to get better at that lol

5. What's the first thing you notice about people?

Not sure tbh! Probably the outfit and choices they made about their appearance like Tattoos and Piercings. I just love seeing peoples different styles

7. Scary movie or happy ending?

I enjoy both but my silly little brain needs it's happy endings tbh, I'm already depressed enough as is LOL

8. Any special talents?

Not that I can think of tbh. I am a very average person LOL

A small town in the North West of Germany ^^

10. What are your hobbies?

Gaming, watching movies/shows, reading fanfic, indulging in fan content in general, listening to music

Nope! I used to have a bunny and 7 mice though but haven't had any pets since then. I hope one day I can get a pet raccoon, I love them sm

12. What sports do you/have you played?

I don't exercise like at all (I know, I'm fat n lazy but I just cannot find any activity I enjoy, fight me). I used to do gymnastics back in elementary school and was in a tennis club during 6th grade but as I said, nothing ever really stuck with me. P.E. was my worst nightmare back in school

173cm (5'7'' in freedom units I believe?)

15. Dream job?

Funny thing, this topic has been bugging me for a while. I never planned on making it past the age of 16 so here I am at the ripe age of 24 working in retail with no idea what to do with my future. I studied Media Design (so like Digital Art n stuff) but I can't see myself actually working in that field tbh, I mostly did it to not do nothing after graduating. My brain just shuts off as soon as it becomes mandatory to be creative. That and I don't think I'd be good enough for a proper job in the field. So yea, I'm just kinda rolling with it for now lol

I'm not sure who to tag so I'll just leave this open and say anyone who hasn't been tagged and wants to participate can join in on the fun!

thank you @haztobegood for tagging me! (also, since i'm also a Podficcer, this isn't solely about writing and has some podfic stuff mixed into it)

1. Number of stories posted to AO3: 100! (as of today)

2. Word count posted for the year: 44,393 (plus 441 minutes in Podfics)

3. Fandoms I wrote for: One Direction (Band), Deadpool (All Media Types), Spider-Man (All Media Types), Deadpool & Wolverine (2024)

5. Story with the most: Kudos: tingling right from my head to my toes Bookmarks: Yesterday’s gone (it’ll be better than before) Comments: Yesterday’s gone (it’ll be better than before)

6. Work I’m most proud of (and why): i think it's actually tingling right from my head to my toes. i dug around my blog and found 'Writing Goals 2024' and one was to write for other fandoms (again). it took me almost all year, but i managed it!

7. Work I’m least proud of (and why): in some ways, i'm proud of all my works and thankful how they shaped me in their own way.

8. Share or describe a favourite review you received: this is not a specific review but i've had a couple people by now tell me how much they enjoy listening to my podfics (and how they find my voice soothing). that really means a lot and i'm happy people get that enjoyment out of my recordings

9. A time when writing was really, really hard: basically all year. i've been struggling a lot with writer's block and even though i was writing and posting, it felt like i lost my Spark™️.

10. A scene or character you wrote that surprised you: writing Logan (Worst Wolverine). beginning of the year i didn't even imagine to ever write Wade in another pairing besides SpideyPool but then i watched Deadpool & Wolverine and here we are XD

11. A favourite excerpt of your writing: this is from my fic for the @1daroaceficfest which i hold very close to my heart. i kinda hope that maybe some people remember that :)

“Not that it concerns anyone,” he started, a hard set to his mouth. “And I would really wish that people would start seeing actors as people and not just objects used like props in a film.” Harry took a deep breath, outwardly oddly calm for the way his heart was racing in the face of what he was about to do. “Furthermore, I’d like to remind everyone that some people don’t have sex. And while there can be different reasons for that, that only they and the people they choose to tell are privy to, in my case, it is because I am asexual. I don’t experience sexual attraction. And while I feel rather neutral towards sex, I still don’t have it. It’s just something I don’t experience. So please, the next time you want to ask someone about their sex life, stop for a second and ask yourself, do I really need to know this information, or am I just nosy? And then hopefully make the right decision.”

12. How did you grow as a writer this year: i like to think i kept a nice balance between trying to overcome my writer's block while also not forcing anything... and eventually found my Spark™️ again. i also got back into the SpideyPool/Marvel Fandom for which i ended up writing 3 fics.

13. How do you hope to grow next year: i really wanna try keep my Spark™️ and maybe even make it grow. also, i hope to actually plan out/write a longer fic again; i have so many amazing prompts that can't and don't deserve to get squeezed into 10K.

14. Who was your greatest positive influence this year as a writer (could be another writer or beta or cheerleader or muse etc etc): massive, massive thanks goes to @harruandlou who patiently listened to me whine about my WB, kept encouraging me and celebrated with me, when i got back into the swing of things (and who supported me in pursues as a Podficcer!). i also wanna give a huge shout out to the Isn't It Bromantic? server and all those amazing people there (representative: @farmhandler @waterme-stories @babyboysnek)

15. Anything from your real life show up in your writing this year: i don't think so? at least nothing i can think of top of my head...

16. Any new wisdom you can share with other writers: don't force anything. (especially in fanfic) writing is supposed to be fun. it's okay to take a break, focus on other hobbies for a while and every now and then poke at your brain to see if the motivation came back.

17. Any projects you’re looking forward to starting (or finishing) in the new year: as of right now, the only project i'm excited for is hosting the @1daroaceficfest for a second round!
