Hi Quix, sorry for the bother but I've been possessed by the crafts demon but Im super inexperienced with clay, so... is there any brand/type you'd recommend? or like I should avoid?
cuz I could probably trial-error my way around the process itself but the clay is expensive where I live ($5~ for 57 grams) so id rather ask than become the clay monster
all the clay i use is original sculpey, I really haven't tried others besides airdry clay when I first started. it's a polymer clay and you just bake it in the oven according to instructions (all of mine are probably underbaked based on thickness, I don't know if this has effected things tbh). as much as I love what I do, I'm really not an expert. I use materials and tools that I'm used to and haven't tried new things since. getting better paint.
that's another thing, I don't use colored clay, but that's mostly just a preference thing. it's easier for me to take sculpting and colors as different steps.
good luck on your creation adventures anon, I look forward to seeing what you make o7
#i wish i had experience that matched up with my love for it. alas. scared pf trying new materials when This already works#hope this helps at least a little#a lot is preference based though. like i could never go back to airdry because i often dont finish things fast enough#but others like how you can actually use water with airdry#i do think it has more of a tendancy to crack than polymer clay too#also holy shit 5$ for 57g is PRICEY#i got almost 800g for 17usd... i know traditional art can cost more than other kinds but i always saw what i did as not too much 😭#crazy how bad different prices can be across the world#rambles#ask
