After a fourth beer, the party got too loud and the lights too bright. Normally, in a moment like this, he would run to you, wrap his arms around you, and inhale your sweet, calming scent. Just as he’s about to do it, the realization hits him like one of the waves nearby.

You aren’t together anymore.

He sharply inhales and looks around. His vision is softly spinning, but it’s no problem for him. JJ spots you in a second. With another boy.

You two are just talking. You don’t even know this guy, he came up to you to ask about something so random it got lost in your chat long ago. You give him one of those kind smiles, and JJ feels his fists clench. “Fuck.”

The music changes. As if he wasn’t already miserable, the speakers let out the first notes of your song. The one he first kissed you to. The one you two always played, alone at the chateau dancing on the back porch.

The memories flood his mind, and he can’t take it anymore. Jj feels his heartbeat loud in his ears, and he wants to leave. To go to any of the pogues, or, even better, drive away in the Twinkie. But his eyes cannot move from your face, and his legs just don’t work.

It baffles him. Not once in his life, he couldn’t move on. But this time, with you, it's different. It hits different.

You finally catch him. The guy is still talking to you, but your attention is on the other side of the beach. Before you can interrupt, you see John B. coming up to JJ. He tells him something, grabs his arm, and leads his best friend somewhere. You feel your heart sink. “Are you okay?” you hear the guy ask, making you turn your head.

“I’m so sorry, I have to go,” you quickly say, leaving him alone. You have to find JJ.

“Dude, stop this shit right now,” John B.’s holding the steering wheel, making his way to the Chateau. JJ's taken the passenger seat, shoulders slumped, and he runs his hand through the blonde strands.

"Yeah, easy for you to talk." he snarls, "You and Sarah are all happy together, you don't know how it's like-"

"I don't know because I don't just randomly break up with my girl over a bad day I had." John B. cuts him off and lets out a deep sigh. "JJ, you should talk to her. Everyone's done. You are constantly miserable."

JJ doesn't say anything. The words hit him like a slap, unnecessarily hurtful. Outside the window he sees the familiar place - they are at the Chateau.

"Get some rest, okay?" John B opens the door and helps JJ get in the house. "Call me in case something happens."

The blonde nods his head and plops on the couch, legs stretched out. Minutes pass, and he finds himself whispering your name, over and over again, as if he's scared he'll forget it.

His mind still replays that cold May night.

You two agreed to meet at the dock. The wind softly overflowed your face as you were waiting for him. When he finally came, you felt something was wrong. His usual smile was gone, and he didn't even look at you. You hugged yourself in your hoodie, "JJ? Is everything alright?"

He let out a shaky breath, leaning over the railings. "I think we should break up."

You blinked in surprise, your heart feeling heavy. "What?"

Your voice sounded smaller than you intended. You reached out for his hand, your own shaking.

"It will be better for both of us." JJ dismissively said, swallowing hard. A shiver ran down his body, and his throat tightened, but he brushed it off.

You felt so much hitting you. Tears burned under your eyelids, and anger started to bubble up. Did you do something? Or maybe he just decided you weren't good enough for him anymore?

"No," you whispered at first, but your voice was growing louder, "You don't get to just... just decide on my behalf!"

The moonlight fell on his face, and you tried to find any answers in his eyes. He stiffened, shaking his head before he repeated, "It will be better if we end it now."

You opened your mouth, but not a word came out. The tears threatening to fall finally flooded your face, a quiet scoff escaping your lips. "I can't believe this. This is how much it meant for you?"

You were met with silence. The atmosphere on the dock could be cut with a knife, and you couldn't just stand here. Before you registered it, your legs led you down, far from your boy- well... ex-boyfriend. JJ's eyes followed your every step. He wanted to run after you, to wrap you in his arms and never let you go. But he didn't.

It wasn't just a one-day whim he had. It stuck with him ever since you two decided to make it official. It grew with every late night you spent not on something you like, but on cleaning him up after another fight. You didn’t say anything—but he knew. He knew that sooner or later, it will be too much. He will be too much to handle.

The sweetest girl walking on the earth, a literal angel and him. A failure, a Pogue whose fate it was to end up just like his father—always drunk, always angry.

His heart ached at this thought. You had so many opportunities, and if you decided to let it go because of him, he would never forgive himself.

Breaking up before he got even more attached was for the better. It had to be. Right?

JJ doesn’t know how long he’s been lying like this. His breathing is now steady and slow, and he has to remind himself to breath in again.

He closes his eyes, but can’t escape you. The memories come fast—not giving him much time for defense.

Your face. Always in the sun, glowing as if you were a goddess. The lips glossed from the cherries you’ve been eating. Your eyes, the creases forming in the corners almost constantly from smiling.

Your touch. All these quick brushes, the way you traced your soft fingertips over his forearm every time you sat nearby. The long, tight hugs during which JJ’s hands wrapped your waist, him hungrily inhaling your perfume.

His breath hitches. Is it truly the best this way?

Before he can answer, the quiet crack of a key opens the door. He darts up and immediately regrets it, as the whole room starts spinning.

“JJ?” he hears a soft whisper, and his heart skips a beat.

The warm lights of the Chateau reveal your face. He feels the heat rising to his cheeks, “What are you doing here?”

His voice is quiet, almost as if he’s scared you’ll disappear. You step closer, with a cautiousness that kills something inside him. He avoids your gaze, staring at the suddenly interesting floor.

“You’re not doing great, huh?” you say, but there’s no mockery or anger in your voice. There’s just… worry.

JJ turns around on his heels and sits down on couch, fearing that if he stands for a minute longer, he might just fall. He runs a hand through his hair, a habit that intensified over the two months.

“Stop it, Y/N.” he finally replies looking at you for the first time. The light reflects of his watery eyes, and his voice breaks when he continues, “Go back to the party and your new stupid little boyfriend.”

Your eyes widen. “Are you fussing over me talking to a guy after you broke up with me?”

JJ shakes his head, looking at the floor again, “Doesn’t matter. Not anymore, I guess. You really should go—”

“Why did you end this?”

The question feels like an arrow through his heart. You’re standing with your hands crossed, not planning on going anywhere. “Why, J? We were happy. Did I do something…?”

“It wasn’t you.” In the response, he hears a snort.

Your gaze is heavy, with your eyebrows arched up. “Classic. Then what was it, JJ?” The tone of your voice is pushing, and you don’t even try to control it, “What happened that you decided to just leave me?”

“I was scared!” he snaps before he can think of anything better to say. “How do you imagine it? You… you can’t suffer with me forever. It’ll break you one day and—”

“JJ.”

The way you say his name pulls him out of the spiral. It slips off your tongue smoothly, just like it used to. You grip his arm, and JJ forgets what he was even talking about.

“You don’t get to make this decision without talking to me. Did you ever asked me how I feel about this?”

A blush creeps up on his cheeks, and whether you want it or not, the corners of your lips rise.

He tries to make any sense, the tears dangerously close to falling. “I mean— You deserve someone better. Someone who will keep you safe and… I’m not that person. And I don’t think I’ll ever be.”

You sigh. “Maybe. But I don’t want anyone better, baby. I want you. That’s my decision.”

With these words, with what you called him, his walls crash. You pull him closer, your bodies touching and he can’t take it anymore. JJ lets out a muffled sob into the crook of your neck, gripping you like he’s never letting you go.

Your fingers find their way up to his hair, running through the golden strands as he’s shaking.

“I’m sorry.” he whispers, his voice barely audible. “I’m so sorry. So sorry—”

“Shhh,” You draw small circles on his back, and his breath slows down after some time. “We will talk about it tomorrow, ’kay? You’re super drunk right now.”

“Promise you won’t leave.” JJ sniffles, the tip of his nose pink. You giggle, but he pulls away to look at you, a serious expression on his face. “I’m not joking! Promise me you’ll still be here in the morning. Please.”

You gently squeeze his shaking hand and can’t help but smile. “I promise.”

you waited anxiously for mark on a park bench, fiddling with the hem of your shirt. he definitely said he'd meet you here at 7 o'clock sharp so what's taking him so long? besides, it was starting to get cold out...

you hadn't been dating for very long, but there was no way he already stood you up, right?

suddenly you hear the sound of someone running, making you immediately snap out of your anxious daydream. but to your relief, it was mark.

he had a bouquet of flowers in his hand, making you smile when you saw the flowers wrapped in the paper. he went to the local flower shop before the park, he really is romantic.

once he finally reached you he handed you the flowers, his hands immediately falling to his knees as he tried to catch his breath. you admired the flowers, seeing some of the ones you'd tell him were your favorite. "do you... do you like them?" he asked between pants. you giggled at his words and nodded, watching as he fully stood up and slipped his jacket off his shoulders, revealing his outfit of a white t-shirt and some jeans. even if the outfit was simple, he still looked handsome as ever. he placed the jacket down on the bench before sitting next to you and sighing.

"i left a little late and i thought i'd be able to make it on time but i guess i was wrong... sorry about that," he apologized, eyes fixed on your face illuminated by the street light. you looked at him to meet his gaze, placing the flowers on your lap.

"you have no idea how much this means to me mark... you're so sweet," you said before engulfing him in a hug. a small grunt escaped his lips before he quickly squeezed your body in his arms. "you're such a boyfriend."

he watched you closely as you pulled away from the hug, his hands staying on your shoulders. "i really try to be," he says while pushing a strand of hair behind your ear. "now, wanna go on a walk?"

you smiled at his words, "of course i do." he stood up and offered his hand to you after you stood up as well. you intertwined your hands with him, the warmth radiating off of him giving you goosebumps.

you watched as he picked up his jacket from the bench, remembering how cold you were. "i'm a little cold... is it okay if i borrow your jacket?" he immediately nodded, opening it up so you could slide your arms through the holes.

once he had successfully help you put the jacket on he smiled, "look at you, so cute in my jacket." he grabbed your hand again and squeezed it, starting to walk the path infront of you.

you walked around the park and talked about whatever seemed interesting to you two in the moment, laughing your butts off about what seemed like the silliest things ever. mark suddenly looked at you in a moment of silence, seemingly admiring your beauty.

"those flowers really suit you, hm?" he said with a soft voice. "i think you're prettier than them though."

there was a comforting silence between you two as you stopped in the middle of the path, just staring at each other lovingly. you'd never been so grateful for the park to be empty before.

"can i kiss you?" mark asked, his question coming out quickly like it was one word he smashed together. the idea of a first kiss between you two was bound to come up, but you never expected it to happen like this. without even responding you stood on the tips of your toes to grab the back of mark's neck, pulling it down so you could kiss him.

the kiss didn't last very long but it truly felt unreal. your heart never stopped beating throughout it, and your hand that was still holding the flowers he'd given you was shaking so muxh to the point that the flowers were shaking too.

"calm down baby, no need to be so nervous," he said with a calming voice when he saw your trembling hands. he lifted his hand to your shoulder and smoothed over your skin comfortingly."i really thought you couldn't get any more perfect but it turns out your lips are soft too."

you let out a giggle at his words, reaching for his hand again. "i'm perfect? you went running in the cold to get me my favorite flowers mark."

he smiled at your words, leaning down to press another kiss to your lips. "i guess we both scored the best kind of love for us, right?"

summary: when your jealous boyfriend, chris, interferes in your hangout with your guy friends

chris has always been the jealous type, and because of that you barely have any guy friends

but you decided that he doesn’t rule what you can and can’t do so you made plans with the few that you did have, and to be honest with yourself you only did this to piss him off

a few hours later you start getting ready to meet up with them, you guys were just going to an arcade, everything was casual

you had your hair slicked back in a ponytail, you were wearing a jersey and cargos, and for accessories was a few gold bracelets and gold hoops

you look down at your phone that buzzed to a text from one of them telling you that they’re outside, you get your bag and put your shoes on and walk out the house

you get inside the car and they all greet you in “hey y/n” “bro where have you been?” “we haven’t seen you in so long”

you look at them and reply to all their comments at once “i don’t even know why it’s been this long since we’ve hung out, but we’re here”

after about ten minutes, the car parks and you and your friends get out and go inside the arcade

one of them pays for you, and you guys all walk into the arcade and start to play the games, going from ones with guns, to pac-man, to air hockey

by now you’ve played a few games and you’re having fun, and a few of them have posted on their stories already

you then get a text from your boyfriend chris while you’re playing on the race cars, he’s asking you where you are and you reply “at the arcade” and set your phone down to continue your game

thirty minutes have now passed by, you’re talking to your friends and in the corner of your eyes, you see him, chris

you wanted to be surprised that he was here, but you honestly were not, you knew he was gonna do something when you got the text from him asking for your location

you excuse yourself from the guys and walk in his direction, the second you got close to his proximity he grabbed your arm and yanked you outside, holding the door open for the both of you

he takes a deep breath before speaking “why are you with them? the only girl might i add”

“chris calm down they’re just my friends, nothing happened, yet” you smirked slightly at the last word you said, you knew that wasn’t going to sit right with him

“yet?” he chuckles, his grip on your arm tightening “we’re leaving”

“wait let me atleast say bye to them” you reply

“no. you’ve had your fun, we’re going home” he says, opening his car door, setting you inside then slamming your door

as he’s making his way around the car to get to his seat you laugh, knowing you’ve won

he opens the door, sits down and slams his door as well, he takes a deep breath and pinches the bridge of his nose before going to speak “do you know how insane you make me feel whenever you’re with another guy that’s not me?”

“are you intimidated by them? they’re just some stupid guys-“ you try to finish your sentence, but you’re cut off by a loud voice

“no- no i’m not intimidated, i’m just frustrated, why are you even with them? did i do something wrong?!” he says, trying to keep his composure, but failed

you look at him shocked, he barely raises his voice at you

“okay, this is stupid, i’m trying to tell you that it’s not that serious, nothing happened, we’re just hanging out”

“okay don’t blame me for getting upset that my girlfriend is hanging out with other guys, alone” he says

you take his hand, and look at him “you don’t have to be, okay? i dont even like hanging out with them”

he looks at you, all confused “then why do you?” barely above a whisper now

“i just wanted to see your reaction, to be honest, but i wouldn’t have done that if i didn’t think you’d be this upset about it” you slightly laugh, trying to lighten up the mood

“Where ya goin' sweetheart?” Called Benny after pushing through the doors of Grand and Division, and walking out onto the quiet late-night street.

You ignored your boyfriend as you crossed the street, not even bothering to check for cars, just walking with an air of simmering anger.

He sighed. “What’s up with ya?!” Benny called, a little louder and annoyed. Like it was he who should be upset.

Unfortunately that was not the smartest move Benny had made all night. You stopped in the middle of the street, turning around and shooting the man a deadly glare. Which got the point across, you were far from happy.

“I'm done Benny" you called. “I’m done with you, I’m done with this all!” And moved your hands around in front of you in a circle.

For a moment he was taken aback by your words, his steps halting. But once recovering, Benny moved to you. “Ya done with me? Why? What’s wrong!?” His tone was a mix of worry and anger.

You stood your ground, his body getting closer until he was before you, looming over you. “Like you don’t know" you scoffed. “I hate how you let those women hang around you, flirt with you and you don’t set them straight!”

Benny's defences went up, jaw clenching as he let his face remain blank. “They don’t flirt. And even if they do, I don’t care about them. I have you!”

You sighed, moving your hands to your head, holding it in frustration. “Are you blind!? Those women are like an animal in heat, hanging around for anything you’d give them! Even if you have me or not!”

“Well I don’t care about them!” He shot back. “I only have eyes for you!”

You dropped your hands while rolling your eyes. “Sometimes I wonder if you really do. As it seems like it’s your bike and the club before me! I feel like I am second, no, third important!”

“Your important baby" came a smoother response, the one Benny would use to lull you into submission. Just not this time.

Taking a step back you held up a hand. “No, I’m not. Or else I’d be your first priority Benny...I’d be the one you want to be with. I’d be the one you’d spend time with, rather than fighting for it...”

Now it was Benny who rolled his eyes. “I should be askin' ya the same. You don't think I haven’t seen those boys fussing over you when we've gone to car shows, or when ya at work at the diner? They smile and flirt with you!”

You groaned. “Yeah, but I still tell them I am taken. Nor do I play along with them, like someone I know" you retorted with a sharp look upon him at the end.

There came an approaching honking sound, yet neither of you looked or move. In the end the car drove past you both, the driver yelling out at you both. But neither of you took any noticed. Too busy focusing on the other with heated gazes.

Benny was hearing you, and knew you were right. You had never shown any sign of accepting any other man's advances. Hell, you barely accepted his in the start. It took a lot for you to let Benny in. And in return, for him too to allow you to be so close to him. There was trust between you in the start. But now? It seemed to have weakened, just about completely gone.

He wanted to say the right words, to make you happy and fix this. And yet, Benny didn’t know what to say or how to say it without blowing this up further. He'd never been much of a talker, letting his actions speak louder then his words. But would that be enough? Or would you take it the wrong way? Could Benny be better for you?

That voice in the back of his mind spoke up, telling him this was becoming too real, too tough. That he didn’t need this, he didn’t need you. You don't need all this drama. All you need is the club, your bike and the road. You need to be free...

You could see it. Benny shutting down on you because the bubble was bursting. And that just angered you all over again. He did this every time you both clashed. Or something Benny didn't like was said or done.

“Here we go again...” you sighed, stepping back and turning to continue across the street, finally. “I'm done!” You repeated, feeling like a parrot.

Benny knew he should have followed, reached out and stopped you. And yet he remained where he was. That voice slowly winning. But he was challenging it. Yet it got its way, its victory. Benny’s shoulder's dropped, face blank and jaw still clenched. His baby blues watching you walk away.

“Fine!” He called, making you halt. “You win. It's over...that's better for you. It's better this way for you...you can find some one who fits ya life better then me...”

You turned around, watching Benny take a few steps back, eyes on you. They shone with a sullenness to them, which hit you hard. Your heart ached at the sight of a man, who looked liked a wounded kid, retreating from you. Eventually Benny turned from you, and dejectedly returned into the bar. Not even sparing a fleeting look to you.

There you stood, across from Grand and Division. Confused, hurt and hollow all because of a stupid fight. Which had finally went a step too far. You could feel the heat and sting to your eyes, tears welling up as it all came crashing down on you.

What had started out exciting and messy, ended messier and in a passionate disaster. Your heart – that the gorgeous Vandal stole – was now broken, possibly so badly it might never be able to be put back together.

Feeling a coldness washing over you the first few tears finally dropped, running down your face. And then more gathered before falling, your vision becoming blurry. That was when you finally wiped them away, and began your journey home.

Not long after you left, Benny came out of the bar in a huff. Hurt and angry because your fight, and break up. He got on his bike, before taking off. Johnny and a few other Vandal's had questioned him on what happened. Benny informed them you both were over, which lead to the men asking more questions or stating truths that he couldn't stomach. So he left. And that meant getting away for a while, or for good. Only time would tell...

i feel like during your whole 'friends but you it doesn't feel like your actual friends and you can kinda tell you both want something more' era, jason is definitely making all the efforts to extend the conversation, spend more time with you, and to get to know you better while youre the one dropping more subtle hints that you want something more (which have him staring at his wall at 3 am questioning EVERYTHING)

i hate to drag things on longer than the should but guys... you dont get together until AFTER the quest of the 7 (well 8 cause surprise shawtay! you spent months on a boat fighting the tension between you and jason ‹𝟹) and even then it takes a few months full of you dropping heavy hints, the contemplation to make the first move, and countless amounts of teasing from your friends for him to FINALLY ask you if you'd let him be your boyfriend

thankfully from there, things just began to flow easily :)

you went on dates pretty often, but at some point you stopped considering them to be dates because you spend so much time together and its a bit difficult to come up with something original in a summer camp

but once you eventually move out of chb (jason moved camps to be with you) and into your apartments (not shared cause we need some space), you both made sure you were both coming up with unique ideas and planned dates frequently :)

jason ends up working a job in finance (trust fund, 6'5, blue eyes), while you did... well wtv u want queen !!

honestly life further on out is so peaceful and simple between you two, any issues you face you always work them out together

communication is so big between you two likeeee

not to say stuff gets boring like ur kids? some of the most random childrento ever walk the earth like theres always SOMETHING happening with them

and you and jason dont allow yourselves to go boring either, you stay communicating and working out different ways to showcase your affection for each other
