TRIGGER WARNINGS - abuse/bullying mention and trauma
*NOT CATRA/C*TRADORA, LONNIE AND ROGELIO FRIENDLY!
--
Once again, she feels like a complete screw-up.
Adora’s mask falls as soon as the door of Glimmer’s room closes behind her. Her friend insisted she would be fine, and that she and Bow had things to catch up. After that, Glimmer would recharge so she heals.
Which, due to Adora’s experience with Shadow Weaver, doesn’t convince her in the slightest.
Adora stares at the sword, the one given to her by the very person who’d stolen it. Just like the first time she wielded the weapon, Adora is… perturbed. Not that she dislikes being She-Ra, but everyone still gets in trouble because of her. Glimmer and Bow did. Entrapta did. It’s the way it’s always been, right?
But she can fix things, she will… Adora will heal Glimmer with her sword. She’s She-Ra, after all.
Even though Adora has absolutely no idea how, but she should figure it out in no time.
When she gets inside her room to train, she does jolt at the unknown presence sitting on her bed – and as an instinct, Adora lifts her sword to attack.
“W-Wait! It’s me!” They yell.
Adora drops her stance and feels stupid for completely forgetting about Kyle.
“Oh, Kyle! Sorry,” Adora sighs. “I have a lot in my mind…”
Kyle ignores the scene, instead asking, “A-Are your friends okay?”
Adora blinks and her expression falls deeper in her despair. “Bow is, but Glimmer…” She shuts her eyes for a moment and continues, “I don’t know what Shadow Weaver did to her. And I don’t know if I can…”
Adora falls quiet because she shouldn’t question it, she should focus on getting the answer to help Glimmer. But Adora is so lost, about her being helpful at all, her role as She-Ra, as a friend…
Her silence is deafening, yet Kyle speaks up.
“Adora… I’m sorry,” he says, “if it weren’t for us, she would’ve been fine. Y-You wouldn't have lost Princess Entrapta, either. We shouldn’t…” Kyle gulps, “I shouldn’t have helped kidnap them. I should’ve done something.”
The blond girl gazes back at him quietly. Adora doesn’t know what to say.
“Listen, you… you don’t have to trust me. I understand,” Kyle argues. “I hurt your friends, I helped hurt so many people…”
Adora doesn’t blame him. Not much.
“I… I trust you, Kyle,” she says. “It’s not like I’m the best example here,” Adora smirks sadly.
Kyle can’t help the smile either. It fades quickly. “Still, it doesn’t erase everything I’ve done…”
“Yeah, I know… But I’m glad you got out,” Adora tells him.
Kyle looks surprised and flustered at her position. Following that, he sighs exasperatedly, “Man, me too.”
Adora finally sits on the bed, that feels like home but at the same time, she knows it isn’t the same. Kyle hesitates but joins her, except he stays far from her; maybe afraid to approach her. While Adora doesn’t actually hold anything against him, she doesn’t think she deserves the comfort, either.
It’s strange, really. Adora and Kyle have never been this close. Sure, they’d been together for as long as they remember in the Horde, but they never had moments of closure, of reflection. Not while Adora had Catra, both under Shadow Weaver’s stalking presence. Adora couldn’t actually get close to anyone else.
Now is odd but… it’s not bad, either. Adora doesn’t actually want to be alone with her guilt swallowing her alive. It helps having some company.
The girl looks down at her sword, her reflection sad, regretful, exhausted, confused. Adora thought the sword would help her figure things out, but she only feels as lost – if not more than before.
Kyle must be feeling the same (under different circumstances, obviously). Especially as he breaks the somewhat comforting and understanding silence between them.
“Actually, I… I don’t know what I’m going to do now. The Horde was my entire life, you know?” Kyle opens up. “I never thought I’d get to leave it, even if part of me wanted to.”
Adora nods simply.
“When you left… I remember everyone got mad. Lonnie would say you ‘betrayed’ us. Catra didn’t really say anything, but… I knew she was upset, too,” Kyle continues. “But I guess no one really understood why you left. I didn’t, until I met Bow. He was… really understanding with me. He really cared about Princess Glimmer. All of your friends went there to rescue her, and you sacrificed yourself to save her…” Kyle looks at Adora with admiration. “I never met people like you. We were always told the Princesses were awful, horrible people… but you guys really care.”
Adora thinks about Glimmer and Bow, and the rest of the Princesses. How they went lengths to save their friends, and how… how devastated they are after losing Entrapta. Maybe they haven’t been to the Alliance in years – and now they’ve left again… but Kyle is right. They care a lot.
“Then it finally came to me. The Horde… they don’t care about friendships. They don’t care about anything or anyone else. They only care about winning and conquering things, until there’s nothing left. You have to be useful, you have to fight and kill people, even who you grew up with, to get what you want,” Kyle says somberly. Adora doesn’t think he’s ever sounded this certain before. “A-And don’t get me wrong, I… I love Rogelio and Lonnie, and- and even Catra, I really do, but they don’t get it. In the end, that’s all what they think, too: that I’m a traitor. That we are the traitors.”
Adora is shocked at everything he’s just said, because she doesn’t think anyone has ever worded everything out so perfectly. Putting these feelings into words is… helpful. Obviously for Kyle, but for Adora as well.
Sometimes Adora wonders if she made the right choice at all. Sure, Madam Razz told her to follow what she thinks – but even so, Adora sometimes questions whether her thoughts are right or not. And considering she has messed up a lot, sometimes Adora doesn’t think she should have become She-Ra at all. She wonders if she should have stayed in the Horde with everyone else. With Catra.
But what Kyle said is so true. The Horde seeks to conquer everything and eliminate everyone that gets in their way. Adora… felt that in her skin. Shadows that surrounded her. Claws that sliced her back and her face. Words, endless words that wanted to entice her, that would try to draw her back to a place she was never free, and a place she was trained to hurt others, too.
Regardless, the fact the same claws gave her the sword and didn’t stop her…
Adora shakes her head. They’ve hurt her. They would keep hurting her to get what they want. She wouldn’t stand by it and let everyone else suffer. Adora chose to be She-Ra for this reason.
She will fix this.
“I… I miss them,” Kyle sighs, “I don’t think I’ll ever forget them… but I couldn’t stand being thrown away like that anymore. Nobody valued me. Nobody… valued anything else. I won’t be helping them anymore.” Kyle looks at Adora again. “If- If you want, I can help you guys. I also know about some of their plans. If they haven’t changed them. B-But it’s up to you, of course.”
Adora smiles proudly for the first time today. “We’ll fight them together.”
Kyle grins at her gratefully.
She admits she was surprised at first to have Kyle come along with the princesses… but right now, she figures out that it makes sense. Kyle is loyal, but not really to the Horde itself, she realizes. No matter how awful it was for him, Kyle would always stick with his friends. The friends that… weren’t really his friends.
Adora scoots a little closer to him and, with a few seconds of consideration, she places a hand on his shoulder. She’s not really good at this.
“I’m… I’m sorry, Kyle,” Adora apologizes. “I really wasn’t a good friend to you. I used you as a punching bag for all these years…”
“Oh.” Kyle lowers his gaze for a while. “It’s okay.”
“It’s not. You- You deserve better much better friends. And…" Adora pauses. "I hope I can be one for you now, if you want.”
She's a little startled by the boy's sparkling, tearful eyes. Before Adora can think, she’s already wrapped in the tightest hug she’s been in.
“Thank you so much,” Kyle tells her. “I’m really glad I’m here with you, Adora.”
Adora can’t help the flustered warmth in her chest. She relaxes her shoulders and hugs him back. “Yeah, me too.”

Decided to rewatch the whole series after seeing the finale, here's my thoughts as they come along part 3
There was an old He-man reboot that was cancelled after two seasons, season 3 was being set up as the horde conquering Eternia with He-man and his kingdom being forced into hiding as rebels. Apparently She-Ra would also appear, though knowing that show she'd be lucky to be 1/4th as interesting or engaging as our Adora. I'm saying this because, even though that cartoon was cancelled before it could finish it's story, we were lucky enough to see ours to it's end and in a way that story they wanted to tell exists here with us now. Plus I always disliked that they called themselves "The Rebellion" when they weren't really rebelling against anything, but they are now!
Poor Adora, even after all this time she still has that hero complex eating away at her, telling her she's useless unless she's serving others.
Entrapta's ramblings about space this season are very relatable.
Catra's face when she sees Glimmer be manipulated, you can see so much behind her eyes. Fear for her standing, flashbacks to her own manipulation, shock at how unprepared Glimmer is for this. Love how Horde Prime sees right through her afterwards, she has no power over him.
Poor Entrapta, she hasn't been with the other princesses since season 1, they're opinion of her has been soured by her betrayal and appearance to not care. We know she loves her friends and is trying her best, but the wound is still sore.
Horde Prime using Glimmer's dad as a bargaining chip is extra horrible when you remember that this is when she discovers he's alive.
It's great that the show takes a moment to allow Adora to come to grips with no longer having a clear destiny she can follow. She's so used to being told what to do, this is the first time she's truly making her own decisions. Agency that Shadow Weaver begins to take away from her later.
I love Catra's internal struggles in these first few episodes. She's trying to do what she's been doing, working her way up the ladder, but she can't. Not anymore. Her heart isn't in it, she knows this isn't what she wants, she's just going through the motions. Spending time with Glimmer is the only thing she enjoys, she finally slows down for a moment to just enjoy someone's company and really bond. Her turn to good isn't a 180, we see her mind working and how she comes to the decision of sacrificing herself. Seeing that Horde Prime is a complete psychopath helped of course.
I love how Horde Prime's ship has star themed beds.
I don't know how they did it, but they made Hordak recognizable among the other clones. It's like twins, once you get to know them the difference is obvious. You can look at a clone and see he's Hordak, yet he looks identical to the others. It's remarkable.
These flashbacks Catra has, wandering the empty corridors that her decisions have left her in, it's a testimony to how far she's come that they don't reaffirm Adora's betrayal to her anymore. She wants to absolve herself of her sins, and she decides a sacrifice is the best way. She wants to go out on one good grace, redemption by death, but that action and her apology is what makes Adora sure she still has good in her. Catra has shown she is willing to be good, and that alone is enough for Adora to give her another chance.
This is the first time the best friend squad has been together since Glimmer pulled the queen card, a lot of the wounds are still fresh. I definitely think this is the point Bow and her truly realize they love each other, they probably had a schoolyard crush but the realization of where they are without each other and how much they mean to each other, something really deep sparked here.
The Star Siblings are here to show what life under Prime is like, but also as a quick show of the Rebellion's message expanding. That's a little underdeveloped though, which is mostly a product of time.
Adora's little "she's not my friend" bit is adorable but a bit out of place imo, Adora hasn't really been this outwardly lovestruck over Catra before, and while Adora has decided to give her another chance I don't think that reignition of love would have happened yet.
The thought that Entrapta went out to find that LUVD crystal to bring with her in the slightest hope she would find Hordak and that he would recognize it. Plus the noises she makes and the fact she immediately adopts Wrong Hordak and that we get to see her without her mask, ah she is so cute!
Hive Mind Catra is terrifying and tragic, it feels so violating. He talks about how she wanted Adora to save her, how afraid she was when she was assimilated. We see that numbness and how it would seem appealing to her, but under the cracks Catra is still suffering, and Adora promises to bring her back, tells her how much she cares about her, transforms into She-Ra to save her. And finally, they are together again.
I love Adora constantly checking on Catra, this is the first time in years she has been with her, she just wants to be with her. Catra starts falling back into her old ways though, that anger still persistent, and Adora's honeymoon phase is over already and for a second we're all afraid nothing has changed. You can see Catra doesn't want to make that mistake again, and she finally lets Adora help her, and likewise Adora finally steps back and lets Catra help her too. They've both grown so much, and that growth is what allows their relationship to blossom.
It's great that Spinnerella and Netossa get their time to shine this season. Their arc here parallels Catra and Adora's earlier, and I would say it's unfortunate they have to go through this, but I love the angst.
Double Trouble! Back for a five minute appearance where they admittedly don't do much, but hey they're fun to watch and have some great lines so it's worth it.
Catra in a healthy relationship, with friends that don't fear her and people she sees as equals. People she can just joke around with and be teased by. You love to see it.
Melog is a pretty important addition, as he gives Catra someone that she can fully trust without the baggage from before. He's literally her therapy support pet, and he's the one that stops her from running away again.
Shadow Weaver's little speech here is great, she's been told that the First One's made the magic stronger when they did the exact opposite. It's a commentary on colonialism, "we brought you civilization, our conquest was good actually" is a very common lie.
Catra holding Adora's hand, Glitra kiss, Best Friend Squad hug, Catra's smirk when Adora says she's right. You love to see it.
I love how Noelle made a self-insert character and also decided she should be evil. "So the only person I'm fighting here is... My own wife" is a mega ouch.
I love Wrong Hordak so much, he not only shows how the Horde Clones are just regular people without the influence of Prime but he is also ridiculously cute.
Did I mention how much I love the new She-Ra look? I liked the old one but damn this blows it out of the park.
I will admit the Heart having a failsafe a d Mara having a rebellion of her own is a bit out of nowhere, but it was a nice reveal of the origin of Grayskull.
I'm a huge sucker for friendship saving the day messages I admit. Not the rainbow lazer kind, but that love and kindness reaching through Prime's control is beautiful. Plus it's wonderful for Catra to see what real friendship is like.
This is a great little moment with Castaspella and Glimmer, this is the first time they've seen Micah since his death.
I love Shadow Weaver so much, she sees Adora and immediately shifts into child manipulation mode. This is the first time I'm actually getting pissed at her though, obviously because she's starting to drive her chisel between Catradora but also because she's reversing all the development Adora has had up until this point.
Hordak: "Go, then maybe these memories and imperfections will leave me " Entrapta: "Remember, your imperfections are beautiful!" The fuck I'm crying in the club again.
I love this Catradora moment, "what do you want Adora" "I have to do this". Obviously their relationship isn't going to be easy after all these years, and both these girl's flaws and insecurities are flaring up again and driving each other apart.
Adora tells off Shadow Weaver for good, she ruins people. This is a huge moment for this character, SW has convinced herself she is the good guy and that she is making the necessary actions to save the world, but this is the one moment she really looks back at herself.
"Adora chose Shadow Weaver, not me. Adora doesn't want me, not like I want her" oof ouch my soul. That with Adora's memories, it's clear they can't just go back to the way it was anymore. They're love is too important to them now.
My headcanon is that Shadow Weaver is drunk here. She's slurring, she's drinking, her daughter is going to sacrifice herself. Maybe her decision to die was one she made totally wasted lol.
Tumblr media
Catra promised Adora she'd look out for her, and the soft version of the promise song in the background. Ow ow ow ow my heart.
Glimbow canon!
Mara is here, telling Adora the same thing Razz told her in the 3rd episode of the entire show. Stop looking for what other people tell you to do, you have a choice.
Spinnetossa, Seamista, Entrapdak. It's cliche, but love conquers all is a message I'll never tire from.
I started tearing up with the Glimmer Micah fight, and full on sobbing when Angella appeared. Something that didn't really stop.
I was mixed on SW's sacrifice, but I think it works. Each of them were trying to take the selfish way out, to die for the ones they love. So it's fitting that SW is the one that does it.
Fuck yeah Hordak! What a monumentous but short lived moment.
CATRADORA!!! God, the confession, how Catra whispers it but how Adora hears it as a scream, how it wasn't Catra that made Adora weak but infact the exact opposite, how they're both so surprised and relieved that these feelings they've felt for years are real and strong and true and reciprocated. It's the best conclusion possible for them and it makes me cry so much.
This beautiful moment, where Adora saves Hordak, the ultimate repayal for him saving her all those years ago. He remembers her. Fuck I'm sobbing again.
Scorpia sees Catra again after leaving her, and of course she hugs her.
And it's over. The best show ever made. Netflix automatically resets your watch history and here I am looking at the button to play Season 1 Episode 1 again. This 1 and a half year journey feels like a millenia, it feels so long ago that Adora first picked up that sword. This is a show I will cherish forever, I can see myself binge watching in the retirement home already.

“ sometimes in the morning i am petrified & can't move awake, but cannot open my eyes & the weight is crushing down on my lungs, i know i can't breathe & hope someone will save me this time. “
adora she-ra | 23 | lesbian | bartender | just wants to be loved
─  the mirrors surrounding you did as they were meant to, reflecting back a spitting image of FLORENCE PUGH  -  but it’s clear something is wrong from the moment that a vision of PLANNING A BEST FRIENDS ROADTRIP TO RESTORE MAGIC TO THE UNIVERSE strikes you.  perhaps it was a passing daydream in the frenzy of the funhouse. you reassure yourself  -  you’re ADORA,  a TWENTY THREE YEAR OLD BARTENDER whose virtue lies in your + STRENGTH & + FEARLESSNESS, although you’ve been told that you tend to be quite - BLUNT & - SELF SACRFICING,  and you’re associated with THE SOUND OF A SWORD BEING DRAWN, THE SUN REFLECTING OFF WATER, AN ENDLESS STAR FILLED SKY by those around you.  suddenly,  however,  you’ve found THE SWORD OF PROTECTION on your person - was that always there? from the moment you leave the funhouse,  memories from your life in SHE-RA & THE PRINCESSES OF POWER have begun to return - leaving whoever you had been before in the mirror’s reflection behind you.  you can almost hear BETTER SON/DAUGHTER by RILO KILEY following in your wake.
canon ( full of spoilers so if you’d like to watch the show i wouldn’t read this part. i’m sorry it’s long, this is mostly for me to go back to if i forget something so really i won’t be offended if no one reads this part lmao )
grew up in the horde since an infant with catra, the two of them were raised by shadow weaver and were best friends.
it wasn’t a great childhood
was told how horrible the princesses were and they were the bad guys, they were always told they were a dangerous threat to etheria.
when she is older adora got promoted to force captain which she was extremely happy about.
the two of them sneak out and adora gets lost in the whispering woods. there she comes across the sword of protection and starts having visions when she touches it and it knocks her out.
her and catra return back to the fright zone but adora leaves again that night to go back to the sword.
there she meets bow and glimmer and they fight for the sword. neither of them trust her bc she’s a horde solider and adora ends up getting captured by them.
she learns from bow and glimmer how truly awful the horde is and how they destroy cities, lands, and hurt innocent people.
with the sword she transforms into she-ra ( and is v much horrified about it and the fact she’s a princess) that night when trying to fight off some robot bug.
she also discovers light hope that night too
bow and glimmer take adora to a village that later gets destroyed by the horde and catra appears driving one of the tanks that wrecked the village
adora tries explaining how horrible the horde actually is to catra, how they’ve been manipulated by shadow weaver and hordak their whole lives and tries convincing her to go with her and leave the horde together. catra says no and that begins the first heartbreak adora ever experienced. ( rip that really broke her heart )
the two of them then become enemies ( cue the ‘hey adora’ )
adora as she-ra also accidentally transformed a horse into a unicorn, he’s able to talk, fly, and they’re now linked and he is her steed. his name is swift wind.
adora is now part of the rebellion, lives in bright moon, and the best friend squad gets the princess alliance back together
for a while whenever her and catra would go against each other she would try to convince her to come with her
the fighting between the horde and the rebellion goes on for like two years i believe
still v upset and hurt about catra not being with her but tries not to show it
shadow weaver ends up joining the rebellion
catra captures adora and wants to use her sword as the key to open the portal and she almost destroys etheria completely.
adora wakes up back at the horde with catra and with her memory completely wiped
something doesn’t feel right to her and she’s losing track of time and her memories start coming back to her.
reality starts falling apart and adora is trying to reach the portal to close it and save everyone and etheria ( also she has to fight corrupted catra rip )
once she finds the portal she learns she has to sacrifice herself in order to close it and save everyone, but glimmer’s mom does it instead because the world needs she-ra. the portal closes, but adora blames herself for angella’s death
because of what catra did adora completely cuts off catra and stops trying to convince her to join her, not believing things can be the way they used to.
adora learns about the heart of etheria project.
adora tries to stop the heart of etheria activation but glimmer want to activate it thinking it will help them defeat the horde she helps scorpia activate her runsestone. adora goes to light hope to confront her about it around the same time and light hope uses she-ra to begin activating it.
adora learns she’s not from etheria, but instead from eternia, she’s a first one and was sent through a portal as a baby by light hope to become she-ra and complete the heart of etheria project
once the planet is balanced light hope portals etheria out of despondos and back into the wider universe. this also means horde prime and his army can arrive.
adora as she-ra is able to fight the activation process and deactivates it, but in the process breaks the sword of power and believes she isn’t able to transform into she-ra anymore.
adora now has to relearn how to fight without she-ra like back when she was in the horde but it’s extremely difficult and she didn’t realize jsut how much she has come to rely on her power.
horde prime’s army begins attacking etheria, they also have captured glimmer and catra.
adora, bow, and entrapta go in the ship to rescue glimmer from horde prime’s ship.
while in space they receive a message from catra telling them she’s going to send glimmer to them and warns her not to come to horde prime’s ship that it’s a trap for her. catra apologizes to adora before sending glimmer her way.
adora becomes intensely worried for catra and doesn’t want to lose her and realizes just how deeply she’s in love with her.
their ship runs out of fuel and they stop at a planet that has the crystals they need for fuel. once there adora uses her inhuman strength as she used to when she was able to turn into she-ra to stop a rock from crashing down and realizes she still has power within her.
they go to horde prime to save catra.
once in horde prime’s ship that’s when she discovers her under horde prime’s mind control.
after being surrounded by horde prime’s clones adora is desperate to save catra and get them both out of there. she ends up being able to transform into she-ra and manifest a new sword.
she fights off the clones with catra unconscious in her arms and they return back to the ship.
once she instructs the ship to go home she goes over to catra and lifts her in her arms and heals her and she can’t stop worrying and checking up on catra the whole way home.
the two of them are back to being close and flirting with each other and it’s so obvious to the ppl around them how much they love each other.
once home they realize just how long they’ve been gone bc most of etheria is under horde prime’s mind control ( including some of the princesses ) and is being taken over with his clones.
shadow weaver comes up with a plan for adora to save the planet, despite it being incredibly dangerous and having to sacrifice herself adora agrees to it much to catra’s dislike. but adora will do anything to save people even if it means getting hurt or dying.
adora accepts the heart’s fail safe and bonds it to her soul to carry it to the heart to etheria
catra ends up leaving in the middle of the night not wanting to watch adora sacrifice herself, but adora catches her and begs her to stay that she needs her. catra leaves and adora cries out for her ( my girl is heartbroken again )
adora heads to the heart of etheria to use the fail safe once there she’s bombarded with visions of her past self  along with horde prime getting into her head and sending a monster for her to fight.
adora is wounded by the monster and cannot fight and can barely walk. catra appears and helps adora by trying to take out the monster. shadow weaver appears as well to help adora get to the heart.
they make it to the heart but adora hears catra scream and goes back to try to save her.
shadow weaver steps in to fight the monster herself and seals the opening for catra and adora to not come through. they have to stand back and watch as she sacrifices herself for them.
they go to the heart together
she is unable to transform into she-ra bc of horde prime’s virus and tries to convince catra to leave so she can do this on her own, not wanting catra to watch her die. catra ends up staying with her while she uses the fail safe.
adora become unconscious and is on the verge of dying. during this she has a vision of her wish it’s her’s and catra’s future where they’re married. the vision is then interrupted by horde prime.
she’s dying and while unconscious she hears and sees catra and tries fighting to stay alive, it isn’t until catra tells her she loves her that she’s able to succeed in staying alive.
she wakes up in catra’s arms and tells her she loves her too AND THEY KISS
the failsafe works and saves the planet right before her friends and etheria is about to be destroyed
adora as she-ra appears where horde prime is and destroys his ship and heals the planet, as well as gets rid of horde prime for good.
the best friend squad ( which now includes catra ) agree on going on another mission to bring back magic to the universe
in alucard
growing up in alucard wasn’t easy for adora, she was in the foster care system since she was a baby and knows nothing about her parents or why they gave her up. she remained in a group home with other kids in the system, watching as some of the kids she became friends with got adopted into families while she remained in the home. the home was strict and adora is a stickler for rules so she always did what was told of her, she became a ‘favorite’ to the house parents. because of that she never got in trouble/punished when she occasionally broke a rule or two with the other kids. instead she would get numerous lectures about how much better she was than the others, how she shouldn’t follow them, and what great things she could do if she keeps listening to the house parents. adora didn’t understand it at them time, what they meant or why she was the favorite, but she did like attention and the feeling of a ‘parent’ looking out for her. she didn’t realize until she was older that the house parents were grooming her to be exactly who they wanted her to be. adora herself never knew what she wanted to be or who she truly was because she always followed what the house parents told her to be, always did what was told of her. all she wanted was to be loved.
after her eighteenth birthday she was out of the system, her house parents urged her to join the military. they told her it would be perfect for her because of how strong and how immaculate of a fighter she is. the more adora thought about it the more she realized she didn’t want that for herself, she didn’t want to hurt people. that was when adora made her first choice for herself, she decided to leave the home and begin her life without the influence of her house parents. she jumped from job to job for a few years, trying to make any money she could to be able to afford a place to live. she finally settled on being a bartender, even though it’s not the job she had dreamed for herself she gets paid well and it’s enough until she figures out what she’s good for.

the data disk - a first one’s tech that is able to corrupt and control any other first ones tech that comes into contact with it or whatever it controls. when the sword is infected with it  while adora is she-ra she enters a violent, berserk rage. she incapable to telling who is a friend or an enemy and goes after anyone/anything in sight. take the sword away from her and destroying the disk is the only way to stop the corruption. once the sword is taken adora falls into an inebriated state and she doesn’t remember what happened.
unclear mind - when her mind is unfocused or full of doubt she can’t transform into she-ra

Thoughts on She-ra Season 3
I still think they really should have combined seasons two and three but unlike season two season three holds-up as a stand-alone season just fine. I was more sucked into the story this season then I’ve ever been in this show and that’s a good thing.
I like Huntara. I like her voice, I like her attitude, I like how Adora is clearly attracted to her. I like everything about her.
Glimmer still has her moments (When your mom says you really need to plan before rushing into battle or people will get killed, she is right and you should listen to her) but she doesn’t have any really cringeworthy moments like the way she acted at the party in season one or yelling at Frosta in season two and her positive qualities (bravery, kindness, selflessness) really came through this season. I was starting to enjoy seeing her onscreen. I sure hope season four doesn’t do anything to ruin that for me.
Entrapta, honey, Hordak was never your friend. He was using you for your tech knowledge and treating you badly. Scorpia was probably the closest thing to a friend that you’ve ever had. For real though I've heard that Entrapa x Hordak is a popular ship and for now I personally don’t like it because beyond what his war has caused, he was never very nice to her beyond a few brief instances.
I personally have a huge trigger of people yelling in my face due to shit I’ve had to deal with so when it happens on screen it causes a knee jerk reaction of severe dislike for whoever did it, and I think this is going to be an issue with half of the characters I’m pretty sure are getting redemption arcs by the end of the show.
Whatever I may feel about Catra’s actions, I feel like she’s one of the best written characters on the show. It was nice to see her interactions with Scorpia in the crimson waste and see that when not being treated like garbage or set off by reminders to her shitty childhood, she can be a really nice person. It’s really heartbreaking to find the moments where she’s just starting to open up to people or find some piece in her life, only to pinpoint the exact comment or situation that causes her to put her guard up again. I do feel for her.
Kudos to the show for continuing to make Shadow Weaver a giant bitch nobody likes even after she switched sides and not giving her a half-assed redemption arc.
I still can’t make a consensus about whether that horse is annoying because he was barely in this season.
Spoilers for the portal and season 5 in the readmore
*sigh* lets talk about the portal, because it’s the season finale and we have to talk about it. As of right now I’m not too upset, I believe this was an in-character thing for Catra to do and a well-written turning point for her character. My ... concern is that the reason that I’m watching this show is because it’s kind of well known by this point that Catra gets a redemption arc later. I’m not going to comment more on that now (I’ll save it when I discuss the show as a whole), nor am I going to judge this season for things that haven’t happened yet in the story. Just know that when this redemption arc happens, I’m going to remember what happened and be watching she is made to answer for it in a meaningful way.
Best characters: Entrapta, Bow, Angela was pretty dope this season
Worst characters: Shadow Weaver, Catra
OTP: Huntara x Adora. They should at least go on one date.
BroTP: Entrapa/Scorpia is still best BroTP.
NoTP: Catra with anyone but especially with Adora. Beyond the portal thing Adora clearly triggers Catra’s deep-set emtional problems whenever they’re together. Both of them but especially Catra need space to deal with their issues and heal and Catra has some really serious amends to make before they could even begin to restart a friendship, let alone a romantic relationship.
My favorite moment in this season was when Shadow Weaver tried to pull her manipulative routine on Adora and Adora told her to shut the fuck up.
On a scale from 1 to 10 where a 10 is the novella I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream and a 1 is literally anything written by E.L James, this season is a 9. For anything negative I say about this show I do think it’s a good show. I wouldn’t be watching it if I didn’t like it. Looks like the plot is really going to start picking up now that the big villain knows where everyone is so I’ll be looking forward to watching season 4.

in honour of the third @glimadora-week being an au one and today being a free day here comes my superhero au that i came up with like half a year ago. the gist of it is
“a local not-well-known young superhero (Glimmer) gets a huge crush on other superhuman girl’s alias (She-Ra) and dreams of teaming up with her and kicking ass together, until she accidentally meets the girl in question (Adora). she is flustered and embarrassed and stops her fangirling, only to realize she’s actually falling for her now friend and teammate, this time for real”
a more detailed summary follows
Glimmer is a second-gen superhuman (teleportation powers obviously); her mom’s a first-gen with an impervious immune system who worked closely with a group of scientists to figure out the nature of her and other superhumans’ powers, which is how she met Micah (a scientist)
Glimmer juggles being a vigilante behind her mom’s back and attending college (tho skipping classes quite a lot). she exhausts and stresses herself out but refuses to quit because she wants to actually use her powers and make a difference. her and Bow are a hero duo (Bow is a regular human but is smart as fuck and one heck of an archer) and have matching costumes. they mostly watch over the protesters on rallies making sure cops or provocators don’t bother them. very occasionally there are actual criminals they get to stop, but usually nothing serious, just stolen bags and stuff. Glimmer is antsy and wants to do something big
one day a new superhero catches everyone’s attention. she’s strikingly different from everyone else: she doesn’t hide her face, she doesn’t talk to press, she vanishes from the scene as suddenly as she appears, and people only know her supposed name from the letters engraved into the massive blade she carries: SHE-RA
Glimmer gets a very obvious huge crush on her, which Bow won’t stop teasing her about. but it’s not only that ’girl pretty’ (altho, yes, that too): Glimmer is also absolutely enamoured by She-Ra’s seeming courage and confidence. while she has to hide her powers from everyone, wear contact lenses to mask her eye color and unnatural glitter, avoid other college students because she can’t trust herself to not accidentally blurt her secret out over lunch, while she feels like the whole world (and most often her own mother) is telling her to be ashamed of herself, She-Ra’s walking the streets without a mask on. Glimmer won’t stop dreaming about finding her and teaming up with her - until she bumps into a homeless blonde girl in some shady bystreet and the oh so familiar sword falls out of the girl’s backpack
Adora is a subject of an organization that experiments on kidnapped orphaned kids, trying to artificiality enhance their DNA and raising them to fight superhumans who are deemed dangerous. the organization considers itself kind of like a counter-force to the growing population of people with mutated genes and wants them under governmental control
being one of the most resilient and strong trainees, Adora is chosen for the project “SHE-RA”, gets injected with the DNA of a deceased superhero which gets triggered through the exposure to radioactive materials in She-Ra’s sword (specifically the stone). during the procedure things get out of hand, Adora is overwhelmed and loses control over her body, goes full berserk She-Ra mode, crashes the lab in a frenzy and escapes with the sword; she finds her way to the nearest city and, suffering a temporary memory loss, wanders its streets scared, confused and alone, only vaguely remembering that the sword is important and clinging onto it
she finds herself near sites of accidents more frequently than she would like to, and in these moments feels the sword responding to her emotion and desire to help. she doesn’t like the feeling of it almost forcing itself into her hands and is pretty scared of her powers - but can’t seem to let go of the blade. until it’s forcibly taken away from her by a total stranger (who apparently can teleport?), and the stranger is very angry and demands to know who Adora is and how she got her hands on a superhero’s property
Adora’s pretty angry too - both at the accusations of her stealing the damn thing and at the yelling girl herself. and wary of her, ready to take her down. she still can’t recall how she got where she is now but she does remember her childhood, her training and the things she was told: superhumans are unstable and dangerous
they both immediately dislike each other out of various prejudices and are this close to throwing hands while Bow is desperately trying to mediate the conversation. after somewhat diffusing it he asks Adora about her situation and offers her help. she, altho reluctantly, accepts it: she doesn’t have any better options, and these two seem... nice? Glimmer too starts feeling quite empathetic towards her very soon, finally noticing that Adora’s tired and clearly hungry, completely anihilating Glimmer and Bow’s lunch subs in under a minute. however she is still not entirely sure she trusts her, especially since Adora herself can’t really explain how she got She-Ra’s sword - that is until Glimmer get to see the transformation with her own two eyes, and is. quite overwhelmed. she’s only seen She-Ra on tv before, and now she is right here in her full radiant glory and that is a bit too much to handle
the squad of three starts their investigation trying to figure out what happened to Adora, at first unaware that the Horde is on their tail looking for their project
actually meeting Adora and getting to know her better makes Glimmer stop unconsciously idealizing She-Ra; she finally gets over her fangirly crush. eventually tho Glimmer catches herself developing actual deep feelings. the thought of Bow’s a) intensified teasing, b) happy excited meddling is terrifying
Adora is going through a lot. she doesn’t want to fail people who helped her, and Glimmer, not fully understanding the complicated feelings Adora has about her powers, comes off as a bit pressuring when she talks about the asses the three of them are going to kick together, now that She-Ra is on their side. they go through some communication issues, but eventually through her actions Glimmer manages to get it across that she genuinely cares about Adora’s well-being, making it easier for her to open up, so they can finally work it out. Adora in her turn learns about Glimmer’s complicated feelings about her powers and capabilities, how she desperately wants to be herself unapologetically and prove that she is worth something and use whatever power she has to make the world a better place. over time they both get to really know each other and learn how to help and support each other, growing closer and closer and developing warmer and warmer feelings. it’s a nice and cozy slowburn
Some other not glimadora-centric stuff:
Bow started his hero training before realizing he was trans, and ‘Bow’ was his first alias, kind of like a working title; being addressed by it instead of his deadname made him very happy, so he just adopted it as his actual name once he came out
‘Glimmer’ is also Glimmer’s actual name; Angela’s just Like That
the two have a freaking. Patreon page with 10 whole patrons. all of whom are gay college students who joined after Glimmer and Bow showed up at the local pride in their hero costumes carrying a huge banner with their team’s logo against the bi flag. ‘local teenage leftist heroes’ is kind of their whole thing
Bow lies to his dads about working towards his bachelor degree in history, while in reality he spends his days working on tech hoping to get a scholarship from Entrapta, a state-famous superhero and a brilliant inventor, quite wealthy and so influential she doesn’t need to hide her identity. she sponsors autistic kids and kids of colour who want to get into expensive STEM programs and holds regular engineering contests looking for candidates. Bow’s a huge fan
George was a part of the scientists’ group Angela worked with; after a horrible accident that costed them lives of superhumans and scientists alike (including Micah) he quit and cut off everyone he knew from it; the only exception is Spinerella and Netossa, because wlw/mlm solidarity. he and Lance needed another gay couple of their age to have brunch with
Spinerella and Netossa (that have. other names. normal ones) also helped Angela raise Glimmer and were her cool gay aunts. they had to move cities when Glimmer was 5 or 6 tho which Angela was quite happy about: it was painful and unnerving being around people from her old team, and she didn’t want her daughter following them on their path since the couple continued being superheroes. it was too late for that tho because her aunts were Glimmer’s biggest inspiration both through coming out and starting her vigilante business
Angela herself quit being a hero after losing Micah and currently works as a doctor, and is brilliant at her job. she often volunteers to work in quarantined areas, putting her immunity to a good use. it is possible that she doesn’t age and is immortal, they never got around to defining the exact limit of her powers
Angela, Micah, Casta, Spinerella, Netossa and George all knew Mara and worked with her. she died before the team fell apart, her sword and body were preserved by her friends. Weaver was a part of the research group as well and left when things started going south. she took (i.e. stole) some samples, including Mara’s sword and DNA, which she then used to bargain for a higher position in the Horde. project “SHE-RA” was her initiative
needless to say, everyone who knew Mara was deeply shocked by the new She-Ra suddenly appearing on the news. which makes Glimmer double as unwilling to let her mom in on what’s been going on in her life: Angela clearly doesn’t want to hear a single word about the new super in town
