I have never been asked this b4! :-O Im drawing at the moment so it wouldnt hurt to explain how i do my refs for example heehoo

First i shallablamkdabdomdb I Think. I brainstorm. Im like. How does this character behave and act towards their everyday surroundings. 🤔🤨.... and then im like BAM I GOT YOU NOW!!!!! Sooo for the ram , for example- shes around 17 and is like ,, Shes very messy yet energetic ,, a god of war at her age makes her very energetic and outgoing since she has all this power (and well i guess it doesnt help she has adhd but-) so i was thinking about her pose as something rlly silly and dynamic

As i got used to drawing poses it was actually smth i learned from a couple of my moots- one of my moots got a similiar ask like this nd i took it with a big bag of rice and RAN ,,, Its all about me wanting to make dynamic poses- im not the best at fluid bests For Now but IM GETTING THERE ,

But yes sorry; thinking about my poses, sketch it twice, begin linearting- but after i finish lineart, i create different layers of coloring because my brain (ocd) tells me things and if i dont do This Thag Way I Will Be Killed On Spot With A Nuclear Ray From The Sky

I do lineart first, draw the face over on another layer, do hair color first, then body color under the hair color,, after im finished with that i then go HEEERRRM. NOW. Does it deserve a little razzle dazzling? A little speckle spackle? Do i want to render it? Do i want to change the lineart color to highlight the characters main color scheme? Yap yap yap my process isnt ALWAYS like this but its usually that way-

For allure though i can use a good example for this- when drawing allure—if i want to line their hair with the darker beige—i create two more layers and then draw over their hActually this doesnt make any sense I MEAN. WELL. I COULD PROBABLY JUST SHOW THE TIMELAPSE. Oh yeah I overuse the undo and redo button as well as using a FUCK ton of references from pinterest

But heres what my canvas looks like atm :-] if i want to make size comparisons i lower the opacity of the finished art and sketch over that with how tall or small the character is- aaliyah here is the shortest and smallest so to make sure i did her height and body size right i use the transform tool to slide her across the grid and go "is she smaller than i made her ??? Is she TALLER than i made her?? Did i manage to do her body weight correctly???" Etc etc

For something like this i actually kept th sketch BWAHAHA- i didnt really feel like tracing over it again (at least more or so properly-) so i shrugged, went Fuck It, then made my sketch the lineart layer. I put the flat color beneath it afterwards, put Alpha Lock on so i can shade, and bada bing Bada Boom ,, background comes after everything else (BAD HABIT) (COMPOSITION AND PERSPECTIVE R HEAVILY INFLUENCED BY WHERE MY CHARACTER STANDS-)

Uhh what elseOhYeah if its a standalone sheet for me or a friend- i draw the two poses that come to mind first, write down all the information i was provided (eithet myself or a friend), and then draw anything else i want to next to the poses if theres space left,, this is my brothers lamb and so i went back nd forth asking doll if what was okay and what wasnt okay to add-

ABSOLUTELY YAPFESTING . SORRY. I HOPE SOME OF THAT MADE SENSE. I know this wasnt an advice ask but if people ever needed advice from me i usually fuck it up cuz my Very Own process confuses me sometimes-

I usually either take 1 hour or 2 days to finish something (yes im That chronically online and insane to draw for 48 hours straight without sleeping)

That or if i hate something i go insane (negatively) over it and refuse to ask for peer review (at least sometimes-) so im like Okay Fuck This Wip. This Doesnt Exist Anymore

DAY DIDNT START OFF SO GOOD… 😔😔😔😔

—since I was already drawing from last time I thought I might as well continue into next day and do some figure prac and sIGH. watching the time lapse of my fix redraw honestly bothered me. it felt like I was better than…. and I don’t think how I adopted drawing the ribcage lately is something im a fan of. it’s just something I picked up and I don’t think I like it…

—anyways from that and seeing how my first figure prac wasn’t amazingggg well. it just got to me and then when I tried to draw in my second figure using the way I used to draw in ribcage and stuff it really wasn’t going in great and ahhhhb I was really started to feel depressed about my arts again and all sorts of sad 😭😭😭😭 but I persevered and yayyyy things picked up REALLY nicely in the third one……

—I was drawing from ref but got an idea for how pose could go and so changed it to the idea and oh mannnn it came out so nice ♥️ im so happy ♥️

—but yeah the other two just sucked so I gave up and mannnn it got me sad about my art. maybe drawing character art would cheer me up but idk man. I couldn’t just draw more stuff. I think it’s cuz I feel like I’ve regressed in my art which make me sooooo sad. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 it doesn’t help that I want to draw more nicely but am not at that stage and I just feel frustrated I guess and want to just be more good at art…. SIGH…….

okay I did have a strong moment where I was really gonna give up on art and everything and then towards end of the day I realised how ridiculous that notion was, considering how I still partially was thinking about art and stuff and cuz I know myself and how many times I wanted to draw my stuff so I know I will be crawling back to art eventually. either I didn’t feel like drawing any more stuff today OR SO IT WAS…

—until I came across this animatir(?) Art of boru+his mom and I had the sudden urge to draw them together now and so I got my iPad to satisfy this bizarre urge and… end up doing some more figure pracs.

—okay tbf, the figure pracs were… already there when I opened procreate and so I just got down to doing it. had realisation I just like.:..? doing these kind of poses () and also man legs are hard and I think I forgot how pelvis looks like and where they are placed and man im terrible at stuff where pelvis justs out… and also at angles where rib is more angled or whatever…? I have struggled with that

—also lol at one point I gave up properly doing these and turned really into more scribble-ly fun… also I was trying to shrug off these being serious stuff and just have fun drawing…. I think I needed that

—I got bored then… and went off to draw the boru+mom idea I had… I didn’t really have an actual idea tbh….. but then I realised I probs should get in some face pracs since I haven’t really drawn hina… and uhhhh yeah it’s been a hot while since I drawn boru and I have been thinking of prev art that made me feel sad when I think of it cuz I feel like my art has not been as good at drawing faces and so I thought to go back to prev brushes but before that in the naru folder I saw some gaa+love face doodles and these weren’t bad….?! anyways after one hard brush face doodle that wasn’t bad (but man do I need to practice drawing shoulders/bust up shots. I went to this other brush that I can’t spell…. And THIS IS WHERR THE MAGIC HAPPENED!!!!!! YES THIS WAS IT!!!!!!!!!

—and well of course not all the drawings were good…. and ahhhhh yeah I need to practice on side

—I wanted to do some skkr practice as you know what happened……yesterday…. I wasn’t gonna do it since it seemed a pain to switch to my ss folder but I just did it. And at this point the better in my pen was fighting for its life so I was quickly trying to get it down and hello??!??? while this is still not reaching the idea way I want to draw her. ITS SO MUCHHHHH BETTERER THAN PREF ATTEMPTS….. IM SO HAPPY…… also I think issue might be her longer narrow face…..? but I am very very pleasantly pleased at how she turned out overall. So happy. These day really turned around in the best way ever and im very happy heh.

i didnt use a ref for either of these and (which im not saying as a weird brag bc im aware its not Accurate, but more because:) even just cheesing it and adding shapes and lines of where i sort of remember stuff Vaguely Goes is so so fun + is so visually inchersting regardless of accuracy...all the bits and shapes that connect + interlock and fit together and overlap and squish and stretch and pull and pop out are soooo fun....i love it

hello firstly I wanted to say I love your art and artstyle, it's really nice and is inspiring me so... secondly, I've been meaning to get into art and drawing again (used to doodle in class a lot and called it art hahah!) so do you have any advice on how to draw bodies and facial expressions? Do you use references? How long did it take you to come this far with your art? ive been drawing since around 8 years old, but i only got serious about it when i turned 14. and i didnt start to get into digital work until i was 17.

and yes i always use references! what worked for me the best was when i started my classes, they made us do gesture drawings, which is basically finding the line of weight of a figure. it helps with posing and things like that, and helps your art look not as stiff. as for anatomy, i started off doing studies from stock photos online. honestly it helps. theres this website called Line Of Action that you can set a timer flr and draw from the refs they give you. it hinestly helped me a lot

i really didnt get decent at facial expressions until last year when i took a class for it lol. but i can say that sometimes looking at your own face is a good start and does help, even if the structure isnt exactly the same.

i also sometimes browse through here to get a general idea of facial expressions and how the face works. another thing you can do is pay attention to how faces move in movies and tv shows. taking the time to look at how faces contort in anger, pain or sadness, etc during movies helps, because theyre usually exaggerated anyway

How do you do backgrounds? I'm having the hardest time 😭😭

same tbh i dont draw them often BUT when i do, i use tons of ref. you can look up some basic 1, 2, and 3 point perspective with lines and boxes and such, like what they make you do in art school, but in my own works i usually use very loose single point perspective, if that LOL or just isometrics... i just idk kinda eyeball / fudge it xD cuz 2 and 3 point perspective usually requires me to put the vanishing points outside the canvas (unless u r into extreme perspective / warping) and thats Mad Work tm for me oops... ik photoshop and clip studio make perspective lines and whatnot for you but i use sai and work dumber & harder so yea :/ also, pro tip, things irl rarely line up perfectly to a vanishing point, so while it’s good to know how perspective *works* u dont need to be so meticulous about it imo... AND if you are drawing organic forms like mountains or snow covered hills, etc, those dont need precise perspective either so? id just say look up ref photos for bgs you are going for! youre not limited to one photo either u can combine multiple pics to suit your interest.

from the royal tailor (2014) i lov that film. i watch a lot of historical kr films / dramas and i screenshot as i watch for general bg ref, specific objects, designs, poses, etc! u just need ref pics lol and veeeery basic / rough / eyeballed perspective tricks! and if you arent doing interiors / buildings, you might not even need to make any lines or whatever!

^also sometimes i uh,, will draw the person first cuz idc abt anything else really lol and fit a bg around them which results in some whacko ass layouts that are a little wonky but idgaf XD and as you can see, none of the lines perfectly meet anywhere so yolo i luv this pic tho so idm :3c

i also love the look of old asian paintings and they didnt have perfect western perspective either so whatever, right?

I got the idea while thinking on a drawing prompt for rahafwabas (since she wanted one about either ut or mp100). Welp that silly one was what i got just after sending a prompt. I didnt wanted to add her more prompts overwhelming her, so i feel the urge to draw that one myself xD. (I know it looks crappy but idc xD)

Dimple may be thinking: this kid… its not a normal ghost or evil spirit…

I think Dimple can feel something isn’t right with chara. It feels as a weak spirit but also as a very strong one. (The LV might reset but it was there and that’s what dimple is feeling) xD

Now Reigen… he is just looking at the chubby skeleton in front of him. He doesnt understand what is happening. Has he gotten psycho powers too or is really there a fricking walking and living skeleton? Has he gone crazy?
