However, winning didn't fill the gap in your life that it once did. As the years went on the international competition got harder. You were still the best but an upcoming Spaniard was raining on your parade. Both having very good stats you are head to head for the ballon d'or which she won that year.

You didn't talk to each other much. You can recall talking one or twice to each other . but you talked about one another a lot. The media seemed to spit you both against one another. You started hating each other in real life.

This summer your contract with Seattle fc came to its end and you chose not to renew. Offers were flying by but the one that caught your attention was Barcelona's offer.

They were willing to spend 1 million dollars on you. It was a precedent. No club had ever paid this much for a transfer. Thrie offer sticked your ego so much you accepted.

yn just thought he was busy that's all. he's a celebrity and celebrities are always busy, right? it wasn't until a week later where he finally invited her to a dinner celebration with other f1 drivers. his hand resting on her lower back the majority of the time as he whispered sweet nothings in her ear.

the thing about heechan is that he is so incorrigibly himself at all times that i never stood a chance. i think i've mentioned before how lune charmed me like thirty seconds into dkb's first peak time segment but heechan was NOT far behind! during their intro stage when he strode up, all swagger, absolutely thrumming with energy and yelled 이게 바로 멋인기라 !!!! i was TOAST. i didn't know it at the time but i was a GONER !! honestly. i can't think of a better introduction!! like. what could be more indicative of heechan as a performer. god i love him.

i think one of the reasons i do feel so protective of him is because he is always trying so hard. he is trying so fucking hard all the time he is always ALWAYS giving it everything he has and then he somehow finds it in himself to give even more. lmao it makes me want to cry ha ha ha. i am grateful every day for how hard he worked to get to where he is now and i want everyone in the world to perceive him!!! and also i don't want anyone to look at him unless they LOVE and RESPECT him as he deserves!!

heechan on stage is a force to behold — obviously i was absolutely enthralled by him lol like i was not immune to the sheer force of his presence !! but heechan offstage is like... so endearing. he's very earnest (i think his stage presence is earnest too, if you know what i mean) and is always striving to make sure fans feel seen and heard. i joke very often that heechan should be paying ME for subscribing to his bubble given that i do nothing on there but ply him with reassurance and praise lmao but honestly! he is so active and diligently sends photos to make bbs happy and he always updates us on how his day is going and as he goes to bed he often reminds us to send anything we want to tell him and that he really truly does read everything fans leave for him whether it's on fc or bubble or comments on his fancams (that he checks religiously aslkdjfalsk).

i think it's pretty clear that heechan is really someone who thrives in the spotlight, who loves being the center of attention, but !! he gives that energy back! all of the love and enthusiasm that's poured into him he gives back tenfold, with his boundless exuberance and his innate desire to make people smile.

I don't know if the community at large understands what an OC is anymore. Like. There's fandom OCs, where you create a new dude to live in an extant setting. There's fandomless OCs, where you create a new dude in either a new world or applicable to all worlds. There's OCs who were formerly canon related, such as when you were really into a franchise but ended up developing your original dude so contrary to later established lore that you just pull them entirely, or you so fell out of love with the source material you pack up a decade plus canon dude and start sanding them down away from the shit views of the creator. There's player character OCs, where you get to write your dude you played in an rpg. Many roads, same result.

Then there's some stuff I've seen recently that is baffling to me.

People filing serial numbers off of a popular FC's role and claiming that Blarbo, the 6'3" chainsaw wielding vampire clown whose FC is internationally recognized white man du jour Large McHugebig written for the Murderous Mimes of the Multiverse fandom, is totally different to Blorbo, the 6'3" chainsaw wielding vampire clown whose FC is internationally recognized white man du jour Large McHugebig, from the Murderous Mimes of the Multiverse film series. People can't actually think that's original content, surely. That's very clearly the same character with token adjustments. Why would you not just play Blorbo with some divergences or personal lore?

Or people who have purported to write OC concepts off of barely fleshed out canon elements, which is usually one of my fav OC bases... Except wait, that's literally a canon take on that concept from an extant adaption. Yes, Count Blorbinski's wife is an unnamed figure in the original novel, but the 1999 anime 'Blorbinski's Bouncy House of Doom' said her name was Blorbentina. How... Coincidental that your OC for Countess Blorbinski is also named Blorbentina. And has the exact same backstory and dynamic with the Count as from the anime. And you use the 1999 design for the Countess as her FC -- This isn't an OC, as much as you keep saying it. Bouncy House of Doom is one of the most popular anime out there too so how did you think this was going to work? Again, why would you not just play the 1999 version of this character instead of presenting her as your own creation?

More and more often I see 'ten years ago this would have been an AU/fandomless blog for a canon but today we pretend this is original content' blogs pop up. I feel like if I rolled up with a Calishite Warlock named Cal'aydin who was bonded to a wind spirit and was fighting depression after his brother's death as well as the forces of the BBEG, you guys would righteously call me on 'this is K*ladin St0rmblessed reskinned for D&D. You didn't come up with any of this.' But more and more I see 'original content do not steal' except? It's already extant IP with one or two concepts changed to suit the mun's tastes. Everything else remains very clearly the work of [insert household name creative of the 20th-21st centuries here.]

It amazes me how often I see these blogs pop up, and just how popular some of them are. I cannot wrap my head around it. Like, it's their blog, they can do whatever, as long as they're not profiting off someone else's creative labor it's not a big deal. But it is one of those 'has become more common in the community lately' things that makes me want to stand up and ask 'is anyone else seeing this or am I just going crazy?' I feel like I'm in the minority by not caring for this trend/new definition of 'original character' just based on how often these blogs cross my dash.

after the main dancer was chosen for each class, they would complete the choreo and decide formations for their performances. one of the benefits of the main dancer was that they were always center. they also had the benefit of wearing more embellished clothing to stand out (most noticeable in x class, where rian the main dancer was wearing orange while everyone else was wearing green). here is the full list (mnet truly has the WORST camera angles, so i only included the full cam ver of the performances):

judges shared that lip j was the stand out of this class. she's the girl on the far left at 0:36. (it was originally her choreo but rian was chosen as the main dancer so that's why she is credited.)

i'm not sure how much creative input the main dancers were given regarding stage design... they didn't show it in the episode so i'm assuming that mnet just told them to show up and perform (because like, the rainbow thing they shot at the end of the leader's performance seemed so random? it didn't match what they were doing). after each performance, the main dancers from each class were asked to pick someone who they thought was the worst dancer. in doing so, the person chosen would lose points for their crew.

judges also chose an mvp crew they thought were the best. prowdmon (monika + lip j + others [sorry i don't know their names. the show really only focuses on these two]) was selected and this gave them the advantage of choosing which crews went against each other in ep4. so, it wasn't a random lottery draw! in the episode, they only showed the part where prowdmon chose to go against wayb (context: no:ze, the main dancer from the leader class, chose monika as the worst dancer. and this made her mad so she was like we're going against wayb - no:ze's crew). i'm not sure why they didn't show how the other crews were paired up. because ya, coca n butter + hook is definitely an interesting match.

also like, wayb was eliminated from the show after ep4's mission.

and it seems like from here on out, there will be a mission each episode to determine who will be eliminated. i'm honestly not too sure. for their next mission, they're doing a mega crew mission and mnet doesn't really explain it; but it seems like each crew is doing a performance on a larger scale (with more members added to their crew). also, like mnet is ass and doesn't upload all the performances onto their channel..... they only upload the ones that were the most popular/had the biggest public reaction which is why i had a hard time finding the clips for the classes mission. hopefully they do from here on out.

(also, pls let me know if i'm oversharing. u mentioned not caring for the competitive nature and drama so i'm not sure if i was adding too much. there really isn't drama imo. mnet tries to do their best to edit and make it seem that way but when u watch the show, the girls truly root for each other and are friends.)

mnet truly has the worst camera angles i hate them so much. also why are they still streaming on a goddamn potato. the quality is SO bad i can barely see anything!! there's a lot of me complaining in this one i'm sorry in advance.

1. assistant class

i have to assume that whoever they chose as the main dancer is the one that stays in centre because i cannot tell from the clothing at all. i don't think she was a standout performer here, but also the camera and the fire effects are WAY too wild to actually get a good grasp on who even was the standout. i also have to assume that the dancers have no say in the design because design is not a big part of street dance and this kind of chaos screams m 'too-much-money-dont-know-how-to-use-it' net. they built this massive set, barely used it, and didn't leave enough room for the proper formation spacing!! ugh. i hope the judges actually got to see a locked off version of this without all that fire in front of the camera because if i were them i would be squinting down the end of my glasses like a grandma at the screen. that's what i was doing anyways but still.

2. leader class

i have to agree, i don't think noze stood out as the main dancer here. and geniunely i cannot tell that they embellished her costume more. like damn, that stylist took a masterclass in subtlety, because i was easily paying more attention to whoever was wearing those massive thigh high cutout garter stockings and woven bodysuit combo. i am assuming that the point of these challenges was probably to be noticed the most so that they can score points and pick who they went up against for the elimination round? i'm not entirely clear but my point remains; ngl i don't really like this method of creating performance because it means that no one is there to create a performance, yanno? troupe/group choreo like this thrives on teamwork to actually make it a good performance. i know it's a pretty classic method of weeding out people for auditions and stuff like that but personally i find it a wholly uncompelling viewing experience, especially when it's a fully produced stage like this. i know everyone very likely gets along behind the scenes but the incohesion of intent is very obvious. also what's up with the assistant class getting a massive set and the leaders getting a bunch of cars and some smoke pyrotechnics? i mean, i am glad they filmed it during the day, but i am confused by the disparity.

3. sub class

i wish i could describe how poorly mnet shot this. it's not a fucking mama stage, it's a dance stage!! we need to see the choreo properly!!!! and together!!! obviously i don't care about stitching together different takes for the final edit but just...not having a continuity at all in the choreo is a bit jarring. again, i am also not sure how one is supposed to evaluate how well these dancers did, because i can barely see what people are doing. or who the main dancers are. i know i'm railing a lot on mnet here but i can't give an accurate reading of the dancers because legitimately it is so hard to tell what's going on. if they want to bill this as a legitimate dance show, why are they shooting it like a kpop performance? the camerawork for kpop serves a specific function: to add to the visual spectacle and to highlight the idols' faces. you don't need either of those things for shoot choreography, so why do we keep getting closeups of dancers' faces? not that these dance videos aren't spectacle-y or fun, because they very much are, but they really suck at their one primary function, which is displaying the choreo.

4. x class

this is definitely the one where the camera work is the closest to what it should be, but then they go and fuck it up by adding rain! just the groundwater would have been fine, but noooo they had to add the extra rain so there would be extra water drops on the lens!! this is my favourite choreo of all four of these, i think there's the most cohesion and (excluding the rain) it's got a good mix of spectacle with the water and the blacklight and the right camera angles to show the choreo mostly well. i still don't understand why they cut in those sections that don't fit with the rest of the flow though. why. you could have one-taked this and it would have looked dope as fuck. i agree that lip j stands out the most, obviously it's her choreo so it's the best suited to her character and abilities.

if it wasn't a random lottery draw they should at least have the courtesy of showing people why who picked who!! that's the most interesting part! and i'm not that surprised about wayb being eliminated, prowdmon really stomped them into the ground with that revenge energy. i'm interested in this larger scale performances concept, because i'm not really sure what that looks like in this particular context. if they do end up on youtube i will review them! and you're not oversharing at all, the context is fine! i don't mind reading it as information, i just don't like actually watching it with my own eyes. i can't watch that kind of thing in reality tv because it makes me want to sit everyone down like a kindergarden teacher and go "ok, now why are we all yelling?". too many years of tense rehearsal conflict negotiation and i just want to whack everyone upside the head. it's not very cathartic for me lmao. i have no doubt that everyone is friends because dance scenes are small and i'm sure they've all worked together lots, but even just the editing sets off my fight or fight reflexes.

the role is for a sexy colombian man named alejandro, and he did get tan for that (he defo looked tanner than he usually does in that movie), ig to look more latin. idk. alejandro’s BIOLOGICAL family members are played by actual latine actresses, so i really don't see why they couldn't just hire an actual latin actor for the part instead of...ben if they're already doing that.

it's kinda...emma stone and tilda swinton, and scarjo, and catherine zeta jones are all prosecuted and banned by netizens for racebending and taking roles of colors in movies that are supposed to go to pocs but if it's the internet's sweetheart cishet male, ben barnes...it's okay? make it make sense!

im sure outside of this hes a lovely person but as a poc, i always feel sour every time a white actor takes the role that could've gone to pocs bc theyre are coded for pocs. like it's just....disheartening.

as a side note, i really wouldn't recommend watching this movie. the mom is portrayed as this super sexualised latina and often in the receiving end of sexual comments or lines or treatment. and the grandmother’s casted as the desexualised older catholic woman. 

there’s tons of comments and acts of racism thrown around in the movie (which alejandro calls out) bc the filmmakers want you to know that racism is bad!!! but they utilise a lily-white actor in brownface to send the message, so it just falls flat and conflicting at best.

p.s.:if u rp ben barnes, i won’t automatically hate you, that kind of bx is just stupid. my best friend still loves him and she actually would jokingly put a TW BEN BARNES for me wnv she sends me his gifs and we would just laugh about it. but i personally just dont like rping against this fc

I've been listening to them ever since late 2017 so these are combined both first impressions and the retrospective... Not including their very first album "bad latitudes" from 2014 bc it's not on spotify or youtube and not even their bandcamp 😭 they deleted it from all platforms (except their website which u can - and should - check out here) after signing their first label bc they wanted to focus on pushing new music BUT IT'S SUCH A SHAME BC IT'S SO AMAZING....... anyway

Floral canyon from 2017

GOOD! Great even, I think. I have a weakness for like this garage indie rock (? Lacking a better term for this but it feels fitting) and this hit that spot so perfectly. The album has such great vibes of like "this band you've NEVER heard before but they come from your hometown and they happen to be playing at this bar you're at rn with friends" and I really love that. All the fucking reverb in this too, I just can't help but adore that. Raw (in terms of the sound, not the lyrics or whatever) and familiar-sounding in the best possible way!!!

Best song: plugged in. Feels like Edgar Wright's Scott pilgrim song if sex bob-omb was just slightly more acoustic

Weakest song: girlfriend..... its their most popular song ever on spotify with like a 3 million listens and I CANNOT understand that. Every time I come back to the album I try to give it another chance but its just so..... meh. They have so many more MUCH BETTER songs!!! Even the very first track on the album is a million times more fun.

Glazed from 2019

Well........ Its not very good. I mean like this is obviously very subjective but..... There's none of that garagey vibe from floral canyon. NO reverb!!! :-( now it's just, you know, indie rock. It's not BAD bad, I'd enjoy it as a soundtrack to a fun movie, or if I went to their concert, I feel like then I'd be like yeah that's good! But unfortunately it was suchhhhhh a disappointment for me back when it got released. At that point I've spent the entirety of 2018 listening to FC and then the first single got released in early 2019 and I was like..... Oh. Oh, no. Oh, nooo..... FC raised the bar too high, I'm afraid!!!!!

The thing that bothers me the most about this one was that it just feels like some after-breakup music... Not exactly sad mind you, but it feels like someone still really salty and frustrated tried to express their feelings. It's not really liberating in any way, you're just listening to it like... Hm. Everything else is there, so what's up with the outcome? Did a white instagram witch curse this album?

Best song: apocalyptic/pressure (both are fine, not a huge fan of either but they're more than alright for casual listening)

Weakest song: city of stars. I'm sorry but it legit sounds like a song Hillary Duff would be singing in a sad moment of her 2003 movie while sitting on the windowsill watching the rain!!

Live from home from 2021

When this was recorded, few of their new singles from the upcoming album was released (I'll talk about that in a second), so this one is a mix of different releases. Theres not much to say about it, I like it but don't prefer it over the original versions. The fact that Allie X also released a live recording album about a month earlier didn't help, I think. Hers was truly breathtaking ("love me wrong" was just.... Holy shit!!!!! The superior version), so my expectations for "live from home" might have been a bit too high, sadly.

Best song: not the one (live).. It's just great honestly!!!!!

Weakest song: girlfriend (live).... Well!

Very different from their other releases. Came out last November and although its not my favorite, it is good. Better than previous two releases for sure! Reminds me of Aly & AJ newer songs and I do like those a lot. A very sweater weather EP!!! Good for long drives indeed.

Weakest song: NONE!!! like not that I think this is the best album of all time or something but all songs are very pleasant and there's no skipping around bc when I'm listening to it im already in like this calm, soft mood so everything is great.

NEW RELEASES (2020-2022)

For an upcoming album that I don't know a single thing about (what's the title? When's it coming out? The singles are pretty spread out in time so are they all gonna be in the album?)...... Its all SO GOOD. STUPID GOOD ALMOST!!! The very first two singles that got released summer 2020 - wind in my sail/hold tight - I was kind of like yeah that's fine. I'm not super hype yet but it sounds good! And THEN they released "for leaving you" and I KNEWWWWWW I was already in love. And then I also discovered they released two track single for Halloween 2020 and it was even better than I hoped for (why is it not on spotify? Hello?? It DESERVED to be on my 2021 wrapped).

The garagey feel of it is back and it's even better than in FC!!! The cover art of the singles is great as well, the retro vibe works soooo good with it. Almost all songs are upbeat and feel like summer. I love that.

Best song: paranoid or pulling the strings. Both are amazingggggggggg but unfortunately paranoid is only available on bandcamp! :( I really really hope it'll get released in the album as well bc otherwise I'm gonna die.

Weakest song: hold tight!, so far. It's kind of more mid but not bad either really?
