City Pigeons Bleed Green Part 25
masterpost
Despite the chill in the air, it was a lovely day to be outside. The sun was warm, the ground had dried out after a few days of rain, and the trees were in full color. Danny threw the ball again for Ursa, using the odd launching stick that Dick had gotten for them. It was appreciated, really. Ursa could run and Danny couldn’t throw the ball nearly as far as she wanted by hand.
Ursa raced back with the ball, just a cloud of black fur, and darted right past Danny. Danny spun around quickly, not wanting Ursa to jump on Alfred again (they were working on it), and almost swallowed his tongue.
“Ursa! Gentle, girl! Be gentle!” Danny called out as he took off after her.
Luckily, Ursa listened and planted her fluffy butt on the ground even if she was still wiggling around excitedly.
“Hi there, Ursa, it’s nice to meet you,” Babs said with a soft smile as she held out her hand to be sniffed.
Ursa dropped the ball in the offered hand with a quiet woof and a large grin. Luckily Babs didn’t seem to mind the sudden, slobbery present and threw the ball like Ursa wanted. Ursa was off after it like a bolt.
“Sorry about her,” Danny said as he scratched at the back of her neck. “Play time means fetch right now. She’s pretty determined about these things.”
“That’s okay,” Babs said as she wiped off her hand on her jeans. “She seems like a real sweat dog.”
“She is. It’s been really good to have her.” Danny didn’t even try to hide how found he sounded. He kept his eyes on Ursa, not able to look at Babs as he asked. “Did you… did you find anything?”
“I did.” Babs’ voice was gentle. “Do you want to know now?”
“I— yes, but no? I think this will… I guess… I don’t want to hear this alone, but I think that means I’ll need to explain everything.”
Ursa dropped her ball and came over to Danny where she pressed herself firmly against his leg. Danny buried a hand in her soft fur.
“They’ll all wait however long you need them to,” Babs said.
“I know. But I think… I think I do need to tell them, if I want to get better, and I want to get better.”
“Okay. I’ll make sure the family is on the way for dinner tonight and we can talk once they get here,” Babs said with that carefully gentle sort of voice that Danny always hated a little. Jazz used to do that too. “In the mean time, I’d love to get to know Ursa more.”
Danny cleared his throat. “So, I guess it’s obvious that she really likes fetch…”
-
Dick helped Babs settle onto the sofa. She didn’t need the help, not really, but the easy back and forth of movement was just natural for them, even after all of these years. It also gave him someone to fuss over that wasn’t Danny. What he wanted to do was scoop Danny up into a hug and never let him go. Dick figured that would be a bit too stifling though. Instead, Dick made sure that Babs had her laptop while the rest of the room got settled.
Danny chose the floor, apparently. He leaned back against Jason’s legs while Tim was pressed on the other side with Steph crammed next to him. Damian was on the floor next to Danny. The two were oddly hard to separate. Ursa had draped herself across both their laps; Danny dug his fingers into her mane. He didn’t look up at the rest of the room, even as Cass sat on the arm of the couch.
They hadn’t been told much about why they were there, a fact that ate at Bruce, but he worked to let that go. Danny had asked them to be there and to the one, they had shown up. Alfred was passing around hot chocolate with Duke’s help. The inclination that the comforting drink would be needed was probably right, as much as Dick hated that. He took his own mug and clung to it like a lifeline.
“The other night,” Babs started, “Danny asked me to look into someone for him, a Jasmine Fenton.”
On the television, a picture of redheaded girl appeared. The person who’s hair Babs had reminded Danny of, Dick realized. It looked like a school photo: mediocre studio lighting, bland background, a forced smile. She was late teens with a scatter of freckles and bright blue eyes.
“Jasmine Fenton, age nineteen, is currently enrolled at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, where her permanent residence is.”
“Arkansas?” Danny asked quietly.
Babs nodded. “She’s been in the state since she entered the custody of Alica Bayard, Jasmine’s aunt from her mother’s side, almost two years ago.”
Danny sagged forward, burring his face into Ursa’s mane. “Oh thank god.”
“Why did her aunt receive custody?” Bruce asked when none of the rest of them seemed able to.
The steadying breath that Babs had to take wasn’t reassuring. “Jasmine was removed from her parent’s custody after the living conditions were found unsafe. This was part of an investigation into the disappearance of her brother, Daniel Fenton.”
A familiar face joined Jasmine’s on the screen. It was the same, awkward sort of school photo and Danny looked even more uncomfortable in it. His hair was shorter, his eyes bluer, and there were none of the scars. This was Danny before everything went wrong.
“The parents, doctors Jackson and Madison Fenton, were never charged with anything relating to the disappearance. They moved away from Amity Park four months later, likely due to increasing hostility from the town.”
“They weren’t dumb enough to keep me in the house,” Danny said. His words were somehow loud in the room despite being muffled by Ursa’s fur. He gave a mirthless chuckle. “You know, I used to think they were … not dumb, but clueless, you know? That they were science smart and low in everything else. The hapless, accidentally mad scientists. And then… and then I find out how much they had planned. That all of me was planned… I don’t know if anything about them was real.”
Damian leaned over to press against Danny’s side, offering his silent support. Dick was proud of how good a brother Damian was to Danny. It was a small silver lining in all of this. Danny slumped against him.
Danny’s eyes flicked back up to the screen and his sister’s face. He glanced away a long moment later. “Is there… are there any picture of the lab from the report that you can put up?”
Of course Babs had the photos and soon they were cycling through on the screen.
Mad scientists was right. The place looked distinctly science fiction, full of every day objects and tools that should be recognizable but where three steps away from reality. Everything was gleaming metal accented with a toxic green.
“My… they… the Fentons are ecto-biologists,” Danny explained as the rest of the room cataloged the details in the pictures.
“Ghost biologists?” Tim asked with furrowed brows.
“Yeah. Not that they ever met the ethics that biologists go by. But they didn’t think ghosts were sentient let alone sapient, so I don’t know why they even called themselves that. They didn’t… the screams means it’s working,” Danny said, choking on something between a laugh and a sob.
Jason cursed, the words a low rumble of anger that echoed through the rest of the room.
Dick had to get up and pace.
He brushed his fingers lightly over his family as he moved through the room, assuring himself they were all there and alright. Bruce caught his fingers and squeezed. Dick huffed, but settled lightly on the arm of Bruce’s chair.
“There’s a lot I didn’t really think about as a kid,” Danny said, once the room had settled again. “I should have. But they were—I thought they were my parents. I thought they knew best. When I started to really pay attention… we didn’t see eye to eye pretty quickly, but I thought they were just misguided, you know? I thought that maybe, eventually, I could talk to them about all the things that I’d learned and show them that they were wrong. But I didn’t know.”
“Didn’t know what, sweetheart?” Bruce asked.
“That I was never their son. I was just a lab rat.”
“Danny,” Cass called softly.
Danny shook his head. “It’s true! They even said it: ‘you can love the test monkey, Danny, but you can’t let that get in the way of the experiment’. Apparently I was an easy monkey to care for. Not too demanding. Easy enough for them to just add to the effort they already put towards Jazz, their real kid. Easy enough to ignore when they wanted. For me it was all just… normal. Just how I grew up.”
Tim bumped Danny with his leg. “Don’t worry, Steph and I will teach you how to annoy everyone in this family so that they can’t ignore you.”
The little snort of laughter Danny made seemed to surprise even him.
“Not that we would want to ignore you anyways, Dandelion,” Jason said. “We’re not perfect, but we’re family. Real family.”
Danny leaned back against Jason’s legs, a faint smile on his lips. Dick felt something in himself unwind at the sight. Jason was right, they were far from perfect, but they were family and they would be there for Danny always. It would talk time, a lot of time, but Danny would be alright. And all along healing he’d be loved.
Bab’s caught Dick’s eye. She clearly had more to tell, but Dick shook his head slightly. Give everyone a moment. Let everyone process and drink their hot chocolate and eat some of the cookies that Alfred brought with his impeccable timing. When everything was calmer and the cookies almost gone, Dick got up and returned to his seat by Babs. He touched her wrist gently. It was as good as time as any.
“So I’ve figured out when the Fentons visited Gotham,” Babs said. An old, poor quality image of a convention banner popped up on the television. It was for alternative energies. Next to it was a list of booths, the Fenton’s ‘Ectoplasm Energy’ booth highlighted. “But what I don’t understand is why they chose to clone Bruce. They never tried to use it as a claim for child support or any of the obvious reasons someone would clone a Wayne for.”
“I, um, never knew the when,” Danny said, squinting at the images. “I didn’t… I didn’t even find out the who until I was escaping. It was stupid to stop and look, they could have come back at any moment, but I had to know, you know? But I know the why. Bruce registers as a liminal. I would bet all of you do except for Steph and maybe Alfred. Well, Jason is more like me and Dami is something other, something more. Duke’s totally different.”
Bruce leaned forward, elbows resting on his knees. “Liminal.”
Danny nodded. “Yeah. It can—like, it’s not the best term, really, because it can mean a lot. A lot of exposure to death, exposure to death at key moments, being somewhere liminal for a really long time, or longterm exposure to ectoplasm can cause it.”
“Is it dangerous?” Tim asked, mouth twisted in a curious frown.
“No,” Danny said quickly. “Think of it sorta like a meta gene? Some people are more susceptible to being liminal and liminals, if exposed to the right… incentives, can develop… not powers but kinda? Or, if things go really wrong, can turn into a halfa.
“My—the Fentons are really immune to being liminal, they learned that in college when their lab partner got really sick and then later turned into a halfa. I dodn’t know if… I don’t know if they would have tried to use Jazz like that did me if not. I don’t think so but… well, they didn’t have to worry about her when they exposed me to all sorts of stuff around the house growing up.”
“They chose to clone me simply because I was a liminal?” Bruce asked. He sounded befuddled.
To be fair, it was like the weirdest reason ever to clone Bruce Wayne and Batman.
“Yeah. A strong one,” Danny said. “Gotham itself is pretty liminal and you’re, you know, both her knight and her prince. I think you were sort of like the perfect choice for them to pick. I guess you went to the convention. They had you handle a device, it nicked you enough for them to get blood. They, um, would have played it off. Like they bragged, everyone always just thought D…Jack was just a bumbling fool. It let him get away with a lot.”
“They snagged Bruce’s blood and cloned you to just, what, have their own liminal?” Steph asked. Her nose scrunched up at the whole idea of it.
“Yeah. Apparently they tracking how much I was exposed to and what my levels where. I didn’t… I never noticed. It was just growing up. My, they always did my check ups. Experiments were left everywhere. I cleaned the lab. Sometimes hot dogs came back to life and attacked.”
“What?!” Duke squawked.
“One more reason to be vegetarian,” Damian tsked.
Danny just shrugged. “It was just life. But, um, I didn’t really get any powers or anything so they pushed things. They set it up for me to die and be exposed to a huge amount of ectoplasm at the same time.”
Dick stilled. “It was planned?”
“What?”
“You said they killed you, but it… that was planned. Killing you was planned?”
“Oh, yeah,” Danny said softly. “Like, I thought it was an accident, just being a stupid teen and not being safe enough around big science experiments. My friend just wanted a picture of me in the portal. It turned on and—”
Danny trailed off, fingers tight in Ursa’s fur.
“And halfa.” Cass said.
“And halfa,” Danny agreed. “Which I guess was the best outcome. I could have just died and been a ghost. It was proof that someone liminal enough could be dead and not at the same time. My, um, my friend Sam said I was responsible to fight the ghosts that the portal accident let out. It was just another way to test my powers and see how they grew. Not that, it wasn’t Sam testing me, but the Fentons would let ghosts ‘escape’ and I would fight them and get new skills.”
“You were a hero, Master Danny?” Alfred asked with a purposeful look to Bruce.
Bruce had the good graces to look a little chagrined. “It just seems part of the make up at this point?”
Danny smiled a little. “I guess. I went by Phantom. The city didn’t always like me, the ghosts could cause a lot of damage, but nothing ever got too bad. I really thought I was doing something important.”
“You were,” Tim insisted. “Even if the Fentons were the real villain behind it all, you still dealt with the threats that you knew about.”
“…I guess?” Danny agreed doubtfully. “I don’t know if it matters when they just were waiting for my powers to stagnate. Apparently they had pressure from the group that was funding them, the GWI, for results so they moved up their time line. I went to sleep and woke up in a box in a GIW lab. Then I was just a lab rat. I was just something to experiment on and cut into and—and—”
Dick moved to the floor and Danny’s side, pulling his newest little brother into a tight hug. “Don’t. You don’t have to think about that anymore.”
They had seen the scars.
They knew the sort of things that Danny had been through.
That those monsters had done.
Danny didn’t need to relive any of it just to try and explain things to them. Part of Dick wanted to protect his other siblings from having to be exposed to those horrors too, even with everything else they had been through. Danny sniffled wetly and buried his face into Dick’s shoulder. Hitched sobs wracked his body. Ursa huffed and tried to lick Danny’s chin. Damian leaned closer.
Dick looked up at Jason who was already watching Dick with a question in his gaze. Jason didn’t listen to anyone, not really, but this was a family mater and Dick was the oldest child. It was his call. Dick didn’t even hesitate to nod.
Jason looked viciously pleased.
Jason and Tim could handle the Fentons. The Titans would see to the GWI. The Justice League could deal with any fallout. The family would protect their own.
Dick pulled Danny closer as he let him cry.

AN: *lies down dead like Danny* this chapter was exhausting to write. I hope you all like it and it feels full.

Sorry that this isn’t an alpha!Barty thought, but I just had to say for your alpha!remus series with omega!reader
After they’ve marked eachother, their instincts are kicked up to an 11 and I can just picture omega!reader not knowing what to do with these new feelings of being territorial and alpha!remus comforting her (he’s feeling territorial too, so it works out)
hahaha our poor omega!reader, so cute! thanks for the thought <3
alpha!Remus Lupin x omega!reader who finally claim each other [837 words]
CW: fem!reader, background jegulus, omegaverse, alpha/omega dynamics, posessiveness, mating bites, siblings, fluff
“Shut the fuck up!” Marlene all but bellowed as she roughly grabbed Remus’ head, angling it in an almost painful way to get a better look at his neck. Or, rather, the mark decorating his neck. Your mark. Your mating mark. “When did this happen?”
Marlene’s outburst served to elicit a huff out of you, your eyes - slightly fiery - flitting between Remus’ own eyes, Marlene’s astounded and gleeful face, and her hands on him.
Remus felt a little badly about how much he was enjoying this fun little side effect of your recent claiming of him and he of you.
His quiet, docile, nearly nervous little omega had become what one might go so far to describe as possessive of Remus; distrustful eyes on even some of your closest friends let alone other patrons of the pub the group of you were currently at in honour of Mary’s birthday, looking like you were one wrong move made by anyone away from remarking Remus publicly.
It wouldn’t be necessary, though, and he noticed some of the tension ooze out of you when he reached over to squeeze your thigh affectionately.
“Guess you haven’t noticed the matching one on her neck either, then?” He asked instead of responding to the rather intrusive question.
This only served to have everyone push your hair away from your shoulders in an attempt to get a look at it which had Remus’ own hand tightening around the fat of your thigh.
“You lot finally made it official then? Does this mean I have to stop hitting on Y/N?” Sirius asked with a theatrical wink in your direction. Remus pulled you closer to him on the booth the two of you were currently stationed at.
“Down boy.” Lily laughed from across the table at Remus’ obvious irritation.
“The unmated omegas must just be heartbroken now that the Casanova is officially off the market.” Marlene tutted in faux sympathy for said omegas.
“He already was off the market…” You grumbled, quiet enough that Marlene from the other side of Remus probably missed it but he certainly didn’t, nor did James from the otherside of you.
“Yes I was.” He agreed quickly, pressing a kiss to your temple before removing his hand from your thigh only to reach his arm across your body and rest his hand on your opposite hip.
You quickly embraced his arm with two greedy hands.
“Ah, the territorial period.” James hummed with a knowing nod of his head. “Fun, eh? That was my favourite part after our mating bond; I thought Regulus might actually nonverbally and wandlessly light people’s hair on fire for looking at me a fraction of a second too long.”
This only served to have Regulus swat up the back of his alpha’s head.
“So nothing new, then?” Sirius drawled lazily from the rim of his pint, not even flinching when Regulus turned one such fiery gaze towards him that did indeed look like he may very well nonverbally and wandlessly light Sirius’ hair on fire from across the table.
“Another round for the table?” A cheerful server interrupted any verbal sparring that might have taken place between the brothers as she levitated a few empty pitchers in the direction of the kitchen, her smile directed immediately at Remus.
The only reason Remus knew she was directing her smile at him, however, was the way your grip on his arm - the same arm that was obvious to everyone was very protectively and possessively wrapped around no one but you - tightened to near painful levels.
“I think so, thank you.” Remus agreed politely, offering your hip two affectionate squeezes.
He turned to look down at you as you glared at the servers retreating back, squeezing your hip again to encourage you to look up at him.
“You’re okay dove, hm?” He offered with his most calming smile. “I don’t want you to feel anxious.”
Some of the fight left your eyes (and the near bruising grip on his arm) before you lowered your forehead to his shoulder with a frustrated and embarrassed huff.
“Awe…I wish I had an omega like that; isn’t she sweet?” Remus heard someone sitting along the bar comment. When he turned to notice a woman smiling politely at him, he knew he ought to have taken it as the compliment it was.
But instead, Remus tried forcing a smile back that probably looked more like a grimace before returning his lips to the crown of your head and asked if you maybe perhaps wanted to go home.
“Are you sure? This only lasts for the first few cycles after claiming, Moons; you should enjoy the possessiveness while it lasts!”
“Would you sodding shut up?” Regulus asked James in disbelief.
“Yes please.” You murmured in spite of the growing argument taking place on your other side, and his heart melted when he realised your cheeks must be burning something fierce as you hid your face in Remus’ shoulder.
“Okay dovey.” He smiled. “Let’s go home.”

Self Fulfilling Prophecy
Sirius Black x Potter!Reader
Summary: Potters love like it's a sport, but it seems that only a Black can challenge that.
WC: 3.6k
CW: Sexual leaning scene, Hurt Comfort right back to Hurt, background Jegulily, Alphard Black the gay.
The first thing you notice when you wake up is Sirius’s arm draped lazily over your waist, his fingers tracing slow, deliberate patterns along your bare skin. The sunlight filters through the curtains, casting soft golden light across the room, turning the tousled sheets into a hazy, dreamlike mess. The scent of Sirius- smoke, cedar, and something warmer, more distinctly him- lingers in the air, wrapping around you like a second blanket.
You shift slightly, careful not to disturb the warmth around you, and feel Sirius stir behind you. His breath brushes against the back of your neck, followed by the low rumble of his voice, thick with sleep. "Morning, trouble."
A smile tugs at your lips before you can stop it. “Morning,” You mumble, voice soft and still tinged with the haze of sleep.
Sirius leaned up on his elbow, the lazy grin he always wore stretched across his face. His fingers ghosted over the faint marks he had left along your neck, brushing over them like they’re something sacred. “Look at you,” His voice dipped lower. “A proper masterpiece. I should frame you.”
You swat at him, heat rushing to your cheeks. “Shut up.”
“Oh, I mean it,” Sirius smirked as he dodged your half-hearted attack. “If I didn’t know better, I’d say you enjoyed last night more than you’re letting on.”
Your fingers twitch against the sheets, and you fight the urge to glance at him again. You lose. He’s already watching you, that teasing gleam in his grey eyes, like he knows exactly what you’re thinking. And damn him, he probably does. Your eyes flick down, and that’s when you notice the marks on his chest- red scratches trailing down his sides, love bites peppered along his collarbone.
Your cheeks burned hotter.
Sirius noticed. Of course he does. He leaned in, his grin downright smug. “Admiring your handiwork, love?”
“I’m admiring the fact that you didn’t fall apart under pressure,” Your words were quick but locked any real bite.
“Oh, I definitely fell apart,” He murmured, his voice low and dangerously smooth, like silk sliding over bare skin. He trailed a hand down your back, pulling you just a little closer. “You made it easy.”
You laughed, soft and genuine, before gently pushing his hand away and sitting up. “Alright, that’s enough of that,” you said lightly, brushing a hand through your hair as you swung your legs off the bed. The warmth of the morning fades slightly as your feet hit the cool floor.
Sirius lets out a dramatic groan behind you, flopping onto his back like you’ve just delivered a mortal wound. “What, you’re leaving already? I thought we’d at least have breakfast. Maybe share a cigarette. Do that thing where you call me insufferable and I remind you you’re madly in love with me.”
You glance over your shoulder, raising an eyebrow. “You’ve got a hell of a memory for something that didn’t happen.”
“Oh, but it will,” He ran his fingers through his hair, propping himself up on an elbow, his grin widened. “Mark my words, love. You’ll miss me by lunch. Or sooner.”
You snort, rolling your eyes as you gather your clothes. “Whatever you say, Pads.”
“Mm, you kept a keen ear for what I said last night.” He teased in that insufferable song of his, watching you with an infuriatingly casual air as you pull on your shirt. “But you’re leaving in my favorite shirt, which means I’ll have to track you down to get it back. Convenient, isn’t it?”
You glanced down, realizing you are indeed wearing one of his threadbare band tees, and roll your eyes. “Consider it compensation. For the rabid assault one my neck I endured.”
“Oh, you wound me,” He sighed dramatically, rolling out of bed. “Stealing my shirt, leaving me all alone… You’re really a heartbreaker, trouble.”
Despite yourself, you laughed, slipping on your shoes and brushing your hair out of your face. Sirius was already pulling on his trousers, looking every bit the disheveled rogue he prides himself on. By the time you’ve straightened yourself up, he leaned against the doorframe, arms crossed, watching you with that lopsided grin that always makes you feel like he’s up to something.
“Need anything before you go?” He prodded, his tone light, almost mockingly polite. “Coffee? Another round of ego-boosting compliments? My eternal devotion?”
You shook your head, smirking. “I’m good, thanks. And as for your eternal devotion, I think James called dibs on that.”
Sirius chuckled, following you to the door. “Yeah, well, he doesn’t wear my shirts nearly as well as you do. Don’t tell him I said that, though.”
“Your secret’s safe with me, Pads,” You smirked, turning to look at him as you pulled the door open.
He stepped closer, brushing a lock of hair out of your face with a lazy affection that feels almost second nature. Before you said anything, he kissed you- not desperate or heavy, just Sirius, soft and familiar, like it’s the most natural thing in the world. When he pulled back, he grinned and muttered, “I love you,” that same way he always has, like it’s just another part of his vocabulary.
You smile faintly, choosing to ignore it. As you always have. “See you around, Siri.”
“Mhm,” He smiled easily, leaning against the doorframe as you step outside. “And don’t think for a second you’re keeping that shirt.”
You toss him a smirk over your shoulder. “Guess you’ll have to come and get it.”
Sirius stays in the doorway, watching you until you disappear around the corner. Whispering a soft curse as he watched you turn the corner.
~~~
In every single universe, a Potter falls for a Black.
And in every single universe, it didn't end well.
You knew it better than most. From the look in your brother's eyes in his seventh year, when you found him crying in the common room. He confessed to you then, about him. About Lily. About Regulus.
You would say you were surprised to learn about what those three had been up to together, but it only reinforced your firm belief in this messy web you were born into.
It was like a self fulfilling prophecy. Just a year earlier, you sat with your father in the kitchen, listening to stories about him and a young Alphard Black. He didn't have to tell you what he meant to him, you could see it. In the way he looked at the photo book- in the way he looked after Sirius.
Potters and Blacks would find each other in every reality, in every universe, in every bloody cliche. And every single time, it would end with someone shattered.
For your father, it ended with Alphard estranged and lost to time- the only true family he had left going to seek refuge in the arms of the man he once loved- their love buried under the weight of duty and expectations. For James, it ended with Regulus’s name carved into a cold, unforgiving wall in the Department of Mysteries, a ghost of what could have been.
And for you…
You weren’t sure yet.
You closed your eyes briefly, the crisp morning air biting at your cheeks as you walked further from Sirius’s flat. The weight of his kiss, his touch, lingered like a brand. It wasn’t fair how easily he could pull you back in, how effortlessly he made you forget the countless reasons why this wasn’t supposed to happen.
It’ll end the same way it always does, You reminded yourself. Sirius might love endlessly, recklessly, but love alone had never been enough for the Potters and the Blacks. You knew this was temporary, just another bright, fleeting moment in a cycle destined to burn out.
But Sirius wasn’t like your father, wasn’t like James. His love wasn’t something quiet and tragic- it was loud, defiant, impossible to ignore. He loved you like he was daring the universe to try and stop him.
What terrified you more than anything was the universe usually had the last laugh.
You reminded him every time you slipped into his bed. That it wasn't love, it wasn't more than this.
And every single time he just smiled, as if he knew something you didn’t.
Sirius Black never argued when you said it wasn’t love. He never fought when you insisted it was just a fleeting thing, something to pass the time, a distraction from the war, from the scars it left on both of you. He let you tell yourself that, let you believe it, but the look in his eyes always betrayed him.
Because Sirius loved with the kind of intensity that burned everything else away, and no matter how many times you told him this wasn’t forever, he never stopped looking at you like you were.
“Whatever you need me to be, love,” He'd whisper, his voice soft but steady, as if daring you to test the limits of his patience.
And that was the problem, wasn’t it? Sirius never played by the universe’s rules. He’d already broken them a hundred times over- leaving the Black family, choosing James and the Marauders, standing on the side of a war that could have killed him. What was one more rebellion, one more forbidden love?
But you weren’t Sirius. You didn’t have his boundless courage or his endless defiance. You couldn’t throw yourself into love with the same reckless abandon, couldn’t let yourself believe that this time, it would be different.
So every time you left his bed, every time you pulled on one of his shirts and walked out the door, you told yourself it didn’t matter. You told yourself it was better this way- better to keep things simple, fleeting, to leave before it got too real.
And every time, Sirius just let you go, leaning casually against the doorframe, a half-smirk on his lips that never quite reached his eyes.
~~~
You hadn't seen Sirius since that morning. Not like you were trying particularly hard, he had The Order and you had your Auror work to busy yourself with. The next time you did see him, you were scared half to death.
The panic in James’s voice is what froze your blood. He didn't explain much over the Floo- just a frantic “Sirius is hurt. You need to come. Now.”
You didn't hesitate, heart in your throat as you grabbed your wand and Apparated to the safe house. The spinning sensation barely registered as you landed in the living room, your eyes immediately darting around for Sirius.
Instead, you saw James pacing furiously, running a hand through his hair as he muttered to himself. Lily sat nearby, trying to calm him.
“He’s going to be fine, James,” Her tone was soft- soothing but almost tired.
James didn't respond, just kept pacing, his jaw tight. Across the room, Remus and Peter were talking in low voices, but you can’t hear them over the rush of blood in your ears.
“Where is he?” You hissed- but not out of anger- it was the only tone you could take without letting the tears in your eyes spill over.
James finally stopped, turning to you with an expression that’s equal parts relief and frustration. “He’s in the other room. He took a hit, but Remus patched him up. I told him to stay in bed, but of course, he-”
Before James can finish, the door to the kitchen creaked open, and there he was.
Sirius Black.
Alive, upright, and grinning like he hasn’t just shaved years off your life.
He was shirtless, a fresh bandage wrapped diagonally across his chest, and his hair is a wild mess, but he looked fine. More than fine, in fact, because he immediately started to crack a joke.
“See, James? Told you I’d have the most dramatic scar story at the pub.” He traced the lining of the bandages with a chuckle. “Birds love scars.”
The room collectively groaned, but not you. You couldn't seem to move, standing frozen as relief crashed over you in waves so strong it almost buckled your knees.
He noticed you then, his grin softening as his grey eyes locked onto yours.
“Hey, trouble,” He whispered, as casual as ever.
You didn't think. You didn't process. You just moved.
In three quick strides, you were in front of him, your hands grabbed at his shoulders as if to confirm he was really there. And then, before you could stop yourself, you kissed him.
It was hard and desperate, your lips pressed against his with all the relief, fear, and love you’ve been holding back for years. Sirius froze for a fraction of a second before he melted into you, his hand coming up to cup the back of your neck and his other slipping around your waist, as he deepened the kiss.
Sirius pulled back slightly, just enough to rest his forehead against yours, his grey eyes searched your face. His hand is still cradling the back of your neck, his thumb brushing small, calming circles into your skin. He looks completely love-struck, his lips quirked into a soft smile as he takes in your tear-filled eyes.
“Don’t cry, love,” He murmured, his voice low and tender. “I’m here. Still breathing, still kicking. It’s going to take more than that to get rid of me.”
You shook your head, your hands fisted in the fabric of his trousers. You tugged him closer, as if the space between you had personally offended you; hardly able to whisper “You scared the hell out of me, Sirius. I thought- I thought-”
Your voice cracked, and Sirius pressed a gentle kiss to your temple, his lips lingering there for a moment. “I’m sorry,” He whispered against your skin. “I’m sorry, trouble.”
“That's not fair.” You practically croaked, leaning closer to brush your own kiss against his lips. He smiled into it, no matter how careful and quick it was. Your voice hitched at the end, as if this was all some scheme, trying to get you to understand- maybe pity the poor fool before it was too late. “You're not playing fair.”
Sirius's smile widened slightly, soft and crooked, the kind of smile that could pull you under if you weren’t careful. His thumb continued to trace gentle circles against your neck, grounding you, tethering you to him. He tilted his head, his voice low and teasing, but the affection in his gaze betrayed him.
“When have I ever played fair, love?” He murmured, the words brushing against your lips. “You should know by now, I don’t give up.”
You shook your head, letting out a shaky breath as tears welled in your eyes again. “You make it impossible, Sirius. You make it so damn hard to stay away.”
“Good,” He hissed softly, his voice tinged with a vulnerability he rarely let anyone see. “Because I don’t want you to stay away. I don’t care how long it takes. I’ll wait. I’ll take whatever you’re willing to give me. Just… don’t walk away from me, alright?”
Your breath hitched as Sirius’s thumb brushed away a tear rolling down your cheek. His grey eyes softened as he tilted his head, his expression warm and teasing, but his voice tinged with sincerity.
“I hate you,” You whispered, your voice barely audible and cracking under the weight of your emotions.
“Yeah?” He murmured, his lips quirking upward, a hint of mischief in his grin.
“I hate you so much, Siri,” You echoed, though the words lacked venom.
“Do you, now?” Sirius teased gently, his voice soft as he slowly cradled your face in his hands. His thumbs traced light, soothing patterns along your jawline, grounding you.
And then he kissed you- soft and slow, like he had all the time in the world. It wasn’t desperate or frantic. It was Sirius: steady, deliberate, and impossibly tender. You felt your knees weaken as you melted into him, his warmth washing over you like a balm to the panic still lingering in your chest.
For a moment, it was just you and him, the rest of the world fading into the background. But then-
“Ahem,” Someone cleared their throat loudly, shattering the fragile bubble. You had to remind yourself you couldn't rim anyone up by their neck today- especially after the show you just put on.
You jumped back slightly, your cheeks burning as you turned to see James standing there, arms crossed, his eyebrows raised so high they were practically disappearing into his hairline.
“Well,” James said slowly, his voice dripping with disbelief and barely concealed amusement. “This certainly explains a lot.”
“Oh, bugger off, James,” Sirius drawled, not even bothering to let go of your waist as he smirked at his best friend.
James let out a sharp, incredulous laugh, gesturing between the two of you. “How long has this been going on? And why am I only just finding out now?”
You buried your face in your hands, your mortification complete. “This is not how I wanted you to find out,” You mumbled.
Sirius, of course, was utterly unbothered. “Well, Prongs, in all fairness- I just found out myself.”
Okay, that one did earn retaliation.
You quickly hit his side and he gave a sound of dramatic pain, leaning down to steal another kiss as if that was punishment enough for your abuse.
James let out another sharp laugh, his hands on his hips now as he surveyed the scene. “Oh, you just found out, did you, Pads? That’s rich, considering the way you’ve been looking at her for years. And the rest of us have had to sit through it without saying a word.”
Lily peaked from around James, arms crossed and a smirk playing on her lips. “To be fair, I think Remus had a bet going on how long it would take for this exact situation to happen.”
Remus smirked at you, looking thoroughly unimpressed but clearly amused. “I did, actually. I’m collecting later.”
“Remus!” You snapped, turning your mortified glare on him, though Sirius’s arms around your waist kept you rooted firmly in place. “You’re supposed to be the sensible one!”
“Oh, come on,” Remus replied, deadpan. “You’re lucky it wasn’t Peter. He was ready to start taking notes.”
Peter peeked out from behind Remus, his cheeks flushed but a sheepish grin on his face. “I thought it might help with… er, strategy. You know, for later.”
“Later?” Sirius grinned, ever the opportunist. “What, Pete, you planning to steal her away from me?”
“Godric, no!” Peter blurted, his hands shooting up defensively. “I’d never- she’s- you two- no!”
James threw an arm around Peter’s shoulders, laughing. “Relax, Pete. You’re not stepping on Pads’ toes anytime soon.” He turned his gaze back to you and Sirius, his expression softening just enough to let you know he was, despite his theatrics, happy for you. “You’re lucky he’s absolutely gone for you,” James muttered, the barest hint of fondness in his tone. “Otherwise, I might have had to step in.”
Sirius smirked, squeezing your waist with unmistakable pride. “Don’t worry, Prongs. She’s stuck with me now.”
You let out a groan, pinching the bridge of your nose. “You are all insufferable.”
Lily stepped forward, shaking her head with a grin as she took James’s hand. “Come on, James. Let’s leave them alone before Sirius starts waxing poetic.”
“Too late!” Sirius quipped, and before anyone could stop him, he pulled you closer and began reciting dramatically, “Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day-”
“Pads!” You hissed, trying to stifle a laugh as the others groaned and began filing out, muttering about needing stronger drinks to survive the two of you.
When the door finally closed behind them, you looked back at Sirius, shaking your head in exasperation. “You’re insane.”
Sirius tilted his head, his gray eyes dancing with affection as he grinned down at you. “So, does this mean we’re official now, or do I still need to charm you with my devilish wit and roguish good looks?”
You rolled your eyes, biting back a smile as you tried to shake off the lingering warmth from his teasing. “Oh, Merlin, don’t push it, Black. I already have James to deal with. I don’t need you adding fuel to the fire.”
Sirius feigned offense, clutching his chest where the bandages wrapped tightly around him. “I’m wounded! You’re only agreeing to this to keep Prongs happy? I thought I was irresistible.”
You raised an eyebrow, crossing your arms as you leaned back against the hallway table. “You? Irresistible? That’s a stretch. I just don’t want to disappoint James- his fragile heart couldn’t take it if I broke yours.”
He stepped closer, closing the small distance between you with that stupid, lopsided grin still plastered on his face. His hands found your waist again, holding you firmly yet gently, like you might slip away if he didn’t. “Admit it, love,” He murmured, his voice low and entirely too smug. “You’d hate to disappoint me, too.”
Your cheeks warmed, and you tried to look anywhere but at him. “You’re the worst.”
“Maybe.” Sirius leaned in, brushing his nose against yours, “Terrible, flea ridden, bug eyed, everything you could possibly think of- it's bloody maddening when all I want is to be yours.”
You sighed, shaking your head but unable to stop the small smile tugging at your lips. “You are Sirius.”
“Good.” He kissed you again, soft and slow, as though savoring the moment. When he pulled back, he rested his forehead against yours, his voice dropping into something quieter, more sincere. “Because I don’t care what anyone else says or bets on. I’ve been yours for a long time, and I’m not letting go.”
Your heart skipped at his words, but you played it off with a scoff, lightly smacking his arm. “You’re such a sap, Black.”
“And you love it,” He teased, his grin wide and carefree as he pressed another kiss to your forehead.
You didn’t deny it. You couldn’t. Because deep down, you knew you’d already lost the battle you’d been fighting for years. The love you carried for him had consumed you, piece by piece, until there was nothing left but him.
And so, you stopped fighting it. For years, you let that love pull you under, let it fill the cracks and scars you thought you’d buried too deep. It became part of you- wild, consuming, unrelenting.
Because in every single universe, a Potter falls for a Black.
And as you were reminded that October, as the leaves fell and the air grew colder, in every single universe, it doesn’t end well.

The tension in the air was thick, and your grip on the dagger tightened with every passing second. Aemond stood before you, unnervingly calm, his cold, piercing gaze meeting yours without a hint of fear. His posture remained relaxed, almost as if the weapon at his throat didn’t even faze him. But you couldn’t hold back the wave of fury that surged through you.
“Aemond,” you hissed, your voice laced with venom, “you’ve crossed a line this time.”
Aemond’s gaze shifted, his lips twitching with an almost imperceptible smile. “You always knew who I was, my love,” he replied, his tone ice-cold. “Did you really expect me to be loyal to you when the world has so much more to offer?”
Behind you, you could hear your mother, Alicent, and your sister, Helaena, desperately trying to intervene, pleading for you to put down the dagger. Their words were mere background noise to the storm inside your chest. The rage that had been quietly simmering for so long had finally boiled over.
You had tolerated his affairs, his coldness, his absence, but this… This was unforgivable. Alys River, the woman from Harrenhal, had come to your doorstep, a newborn in her arms, declaring that Aemond was the father. The mere thought of him being involved with someone else, and now with a child, was enough to break you.
“Is this your child, Aemond?” you spat, the words dripping with anger. “Are you really that heartless? Alys River, that harlot… You never cared about what you did to me, did you?”
Aemond’s eyes flickered, a trace of something—guilt, regret—flickering in them for a moment before he schooled his features back into their usual icy mask.
“I never wanted this, you know,” you said, voice shaking with a mixture of hurt and fury. “I’ve tried, Aemond. I’ve tried to make it work. But you… you’ve made a mockery of everything.”
Your breath was ragged, and the dagger trembled slightly in your hand, yet you couldn’t bring yourself to step back.
Aemond finally spoke, his voice as cold and detached as ever. “Put the dagger down, sister,” he said, his tone almost bored. “You’re not going to do anything.”
But you were done listening to his calm and calculating words. The betrayal had cut too deep, and the anger was too overwhelming. You didn’t care if he thought you were weak or if you would never see him the same way again. You couldn’t forgive him for this.
In a brief moment of clarity, you heard your mother’s voice, soft yet urgent, trying to calm you down. “Please, my child, think about what you’re doing.”
But the damage was already done. There was no coming back from this.
With trembling hands, you dropped the dagger, the metallic clang echoing through the room as it hit the floor. You stepped back from Aemond, his gaze unwavering, his silence deafening. The image of Alys Rivers holding a silver-haired baby replayed in your mind, each recollection stabbing your heart anew. Despair consumed you, the weight of your shattered marriage pressing down on you like a crushing wave.
Without a word, you turned and fled the room, the voices of your mother and sister calling after you lost in the whirlwind of your emotions. Tears streamed down your face as you ran through the halls of the Red Keep, seeking solace, but finding none. The pain was overwhelming, the betrayal unbearable. After what felt like an eternity, your feet led you to the door of your old chamber, the sanctuary you once called home before your marriage to Aemond.
You pushed the door open, only to find Alys Rivers inside, cradling the infant in her arms. Her presence in what was once your refuge felt like a dagger twisting in your heart. She looked up, her expression calm, almost smug.
“Aemond asked me to stay here,” she said, her voice soft, yet cutting. “He wanted me to be comfortable.”
The finality of her words shattered whatever remnants of hope you clung to. Rage and grief intertwined, fueling your steps as you slammed the door shut and stormed back to your marital chambers. The hallways blurred in your vision, your emotions a chaotic storm.
Once inside your chamber, you shut the door and locked it, leaning against the cold wood as your breath came in ragged gasps. The room, once a symbol of your union with Aemond, now felt suffocating.
A soft knock on the door pulled you from your thoughts, followed by Aemond’s voice, calm and composed.
“Let me in,” he said.
You clenched your fists, your nails digging into your palms. “Why should I?” your voice broke, laced with anger and sorrow. “You’ve made it clear where your loyalties lie.”
There was a pause, then his voice came again, quieter this time. “You are my wife. This is your home.”
You let out a bitter laugh. “A wife you’ve betrayed, a home you’ve filled with deceit. How can you stand there and speak of loyalty?”
Aemond’s silence spoke louder than any words. You turned away from the door, wrapping your arms around yourself, seeking comfort in the emptiness of the room. The weight of his betrayal pressed on you, each moment more unbearable than the last.
You isolated yourself for days, the world outside your chamber fading into a blur. The persistent knocks at your door, the gentle pleas of your mother, the worried whispers of your sister—they all went unanswered. You sat by the window, gazing down at the sharp iron spikes below, their menacing points gleaming in the pale light. The thought crossed your mind, a fleeting, desperate idea, but you dismissed it just as quickly. You were heartbroken, but not mad.
The whispers reached you even in the silence of your solitude, the rumors carried on the wind like a cruel taunt. They spoke of Aemond visiting Alys Rivers’ chambers, cradling his illegitimate son with pride. Each word felt like a dagger twisting in your chest, a fresh wound on top of the ones that already bled.
You thought of the promises Aemond had made to you, the soft words of love whispered in the dark, the vows of loyalty and devotion. They felt like hollow echoes now, every one of them a lie. How easily had he cast aside those vows? How quickly had he turned to another, to Alys, and their child?
Your hand drifted to the windowsill, fingers tracing the cold stone as your mind spiraled deeper into despair. The betrayal consumed you, leaving little room for anything else. The image of Aemond, once a source of comfort and strength, now filled you with anguish. His eyes, once filled with affection, were now a haunting memory of deceit.
Each day felt longer than the last, the weight of his infidelity pressing down on you, suffocating and relentless. You thought of your love, the life you had envisioned together, now reduced to ashes. The future you had once dreamed of seemed distant, almost unreachable, as if it had belonged to another lifetime entirely.
You pulled the thin blanket around you tighter, as if it could shield you from the pain. But nothing could shield you from the truth. The man you loved had betrayed you, and no amount of time could change that.
The searing pain in your abdomen jolted you awake, sharp and relentless, unlike anything you had ever felt before. Instinctively, your hand flew to your stomach, clutching at the source of the agony. Each wave of pain grew stronger, rippling through your body and leaving you breathless. Desperation drove you to rise from your bed, to make your way to the door and seek help, but your legs gave out beneath you. You crumpled to the floor, the cold stone pressing against your skin as you gasped for air.
It was then you noticed the blood pooling between your legs, staining your nightgown and the floor beneath you. Panic surged through you, your breaths coming in short, ragged gasps as tears welled up in your eyes. You tried to call out, your voice weak and trembling, barely louder than a whisper. “Help,” you managed, your voice cracking under the weight of fear and pain.
Outside your chamber, your mother’s voice called to you, her tone laced with concern. She had come again, hoping to coax you out of your self-imposed isolation. But this time, as she turned the handle, she found the door unlocked. Pushing it open, she was greeted by a scene that made her blood run cold.
“Aemond!” she cried, her voice echoing through the halls as she rushed to your side. Her hands trembled as she tried to steady you, her heart pounding in her chest. “Someone, help!” she shouted, her voice breaking with desperation.
Aemond arrived moments later, his eyes widening in horror at the sight of you sprawled on the floor, pale and drenched in blood. His feet seemed rooted to the spot, unable to move as he watched you in your fragile state. The guilt in his eyes was unmistakable, but he didn’t dare approach.
The maester arrived swiftly, his presence a blur as he stand beside your bed and assessed the situation. His face was grim as he delivered the devastating news. “She has lost the child,” he said softly, the weight of his words hanging heavily in the air. “The stress and lack of nourishment have taken their toll.”
The words hit you like a physical blow, knocking the breath from your lungs. You hadn’t even known you were carrying a child, and now that life was gone, ripped away before you could even comprehend its existence. The sobs wracked your body, uncontrollable and raw, as the reality of your loss settled over you.
Your mother gathered you in her arms, her own tears falling silently as she held you close, offering what little comfort she could. You clung to her, your cries muffled against her shoulder, the pain too immense to bear alone.
Aemond remained on the periphery, his face etched with anguish. He reached out, but then drew back, the weight of his actions pressing down on him. He had betrayed you, and now, in your moment of greatest need, he was powerless to ease your suffering.
In your mother’s embrace, you felt a small measure of solace, but the ache in your heart was far from healed. You had lost your child, and with it, a piece of yourself. The pain would linger, a constant reminder of the love and life that had been taken from you too soon.
The days passed in a blur of pain and sorrow. You remained confined to your chambers, your heart weighed down by the unbearable grief of losing your child. The world outside your room seemed distant, muffled by the heavy fog of your sadness. Your mother, Alicent, and your sister, Helaena, visited frequently, bringing food and comfort. They tried to coax you into eating, but you could only lie listlessly as they fed you, your appetite lost in the depths of your despair.
Aemond had not come to see you since that fateful night. His absence was a bitter reminder of the distance that had grown between you. You had heard the whispers, the murmurs that he spent his nights with Alys Rivers and their illegitimate child. Each rumor cut deeper than the last, fueling your anger and deepening your sorrow. The betrayal burned in your chest, an open wound that refused to heal.
But today was different. As you lay in your bed, the door to your chamber creaked open. Expecting your mother or sister, you turned your head, only to find Aemond standing in the doorway. His expression was cold, his gaze hard as he stared at you.
“I lost my child because of you,” he said, his voice devoid of any warmth or understanding. The accusation hung in the air, heavy and cruel.
You felt your heart shatter anew, his words slicing through the fragile threads that held you together. “How dare you,” you whispered, your voice trembling with rage and sorrow. “How dare you blame me for this.”
The pain and fury erupted from you in a torrent. You screamed at him, your voice raw with anguish. “It was you! It was your betrayal that brought me here! Your lies, your infidelity! You destroyed everything, not me!”
Aemond stood there, silent and unmoved, as you poured your heart out, blaming him for your suffering, for the loss of your child, for the broken pieces of your marriage. The tears streamed down your face, your body shaking with the force of your sobs.
Finally, exhausted and broken, you collapsed back onto the bed, your cries filling the room. The pain was too much to bear, the weight of your grief pressing down on you, suffocating and unrelenting.
A soft voice broke through the haze of your sorrow. Your mother, Alicent, stood at the doorway, her expression a mix of concern and confusion. “Why are you not resting?” she asked gently. “Why are you shouting at Aemond?”
Her presence only seemed to heighten your despair. “Because he blames me, Mother,” you choked out, your voice thick with tears. “He blames me for losing our child, for everything that has gone wrong. But it’s not my fault. It’s not my fault.”
Alicent hurried to your side, her arms wrapping around you in a comforting embrace. She stroked your hair, murmuring soothing words as you sobbed into her shoulder. Aemond remained by the door, his face unreadable, but he did not approach. The distance between you was more than physical now; it was a chasm filled with unspoken words, broken promises, and irreparable pain.
As your mother held you, your tears finally began to subside, leaving behind a hollow ache in your chest. The pain would not disappear, but for now, you found solace in the comfort of your mother’s arms, even as your heart ached with the loss and betrayal that Aemond had left in his wake.
The pain of Aemond’s betrayal was no longer something you could endure. His indifference, the whispers of his continued affair with Alys Rivers and the child that belonged to her, cut deeper each day. You couldn’t bear to stay in the Red Keep any longer, not with the constant reminder of what you had lost. Tonight, you made a decision: you would leave. You would find peace away from the walls of King’s Landing, away from Aemond and the deceit.
The cold night air filled your lungs as you quietly made your way through the corridors of the Red Keep, your heart pounding with the weight of your decision. You couldn’t stay here. You couldn’t bear another day in that house of betrayal and lies. You had to go, and Dragonstone would be your refuge, the one place where you could find solace in the company of your sister, Rhaenyra, and her family.
With a heavy heart, you made your way to the stables. The quiet rustle of the night was the only sound that accompanied your footsteps. The guards, bribed and loyal, had cleared the way for you, their eyes flicking nervously around as they ensured no one would stop you. You quickly saddled your horse, the familiar motions of preparing your steed offering a brief distraction from the turmoil inside you.
Once mounted, you headed for the Dragonpit, the shadows of the night enveloping you as you approached the towering structure. There, waiting for you, was Sharapis, your dragon. His massive form loomed in the shadows, his eyes gleaming as you approached. You had always felt a connection to him, a bond forged from years of companionship and shared journeys.
“Sharapis,” you whispered softly as you mounted his back, the dragon’s scales glimmering in the moonlight. His wings stretched out as if eager to fly, and with a single command, you took off into the night sky, soaring toward Dragonstone.
The flight was exhilarating, the wind rushing through your hair as you felt the freedom that had long been denied you. But beneath it all was the ache of betrayal, the loss of a child you had never even known, and the quiet despair that had taken root in your soul. The journey felt both endless and too short, your thoughts lost in the vastness of the night.
As you descended toward Dragonstone, you could see the familiar silhouette of the castle looming in the distance. Your heart fluttered with a mix of relief and uncertainty. You had made the decision to leave everything behind, but now that you were here, would it be enough to heal the wounds Aemond had inflicted?
When Sharapis landed, you dismounted and quickly made your way into the castle. The cold stone floors echoed beneath your feet as you walked toward the heart of Dragonstone. The guards at the entrance saw you and immediately went to alert Rhaenyra and Daemon. The sounds of hurried footsteps soon followed as your half-sister and her husband arrived, her face filled with surprise and concern.
“Why have you come here?” Rhaenyra asked, her voice soft yet filled with urgency. She could see the state you were in, the exhaustion and pain written across your features. “What has happened?”
You took a deep breath, your eyes meeting hers. “I couldn’t stay there anymore,” you confessed, your voice breaking slightly. “Aemond… He’s with her again, and I can’t bear it. I lost our child, Rhaenyra, and I can’t stay in the place that reminds me of all the lies and betrayal. I need to get away, to heal, and I couldn’t stay in King’s Landing a moment longer.”
Rhaenyra stepped closer, her hands reaching for yours. “You are always welcome here,” she said with conviction. “You don’t have to face this alone. Whatever happened, whatever you need, we will help you through it.”
The warmth of her support was a balm to your broken heart. You felt the weight of the world slowly begin to lift as she surrounded you with love and understanding. She hadn’t asked for details, and she didn’t need to. You could see in her eyes that they understood.
Tears welled up in your eyes, and you couldn’t hold them back any longer. The weight of the journey, the betrayal, the grief of losing your child, and the decision to leave it all behind finally caught up with you. In the safety of Dragonstone, you allowed yourself to break down, to grieve openly, knowing that here, at least, you would not be alone.
Rhaenyra held you tightly, offering you the comfort you so desperately needed, while Daemon stood a few steps behind, his gaze never leaving you.
“You will find peace again,” Rhaenyra whispered. “Here, with us, you are safe.”
As the morning sun cast its golden light over the Red Keep, your mother, Alicent, made her way to your chamber with a calm determination. She had come to check on you, as she did every morning, hoping that today might bring a glimmer of progress in your healing. However, as she gently pushed open the door, she was met with an empty room. Her heart skipped a beat, a sense of unease creeping in as she took in the sight of your untouched bed and the quiet stillness of the space.
Her eyes quickly fell upon a piece of parchment resting on the pillow. With trembling hands, she picked it up, unfolding it carefully. The words written in your familiar hand made her breath catch in her throat.
“Mother, do not worry about me, and do not try to find me. I have gone where I can heal and find peace. Please, annulled the arrangement of my marriage with Aemond. It is over. There is nothing left for me here.”
Alicent’s fingers tightened around the letter as a surge of emotions washed over her—relief that you were safe enough to leave a note, sadness at your departure, and a rising fury toward the one who had driven you to such despair.
Clutching the letter tightly, Alicent turned on her heel, her face set in a mask of anger. She knew exactly where to find Aemond. Her footsteps echoed loudly in the hallways as she marched toward your old chamber, the one where she knew Aemond was staying with Alys and their illegitimate child. Each step fueled her anger, her mind racing with thoughts of how Aemond had betrayed not only you but also the family’s honor.
When she reached the door, she didn’t bother to knock. Instead, she pushed it open with force, her eyes blazing as she entered. Inside, she found Aemond standing near the window, Alys seated with the infant in her arms. The air in the room grew tense as they turned to face her, Alys’s expression a mixture of surprise and smug satisfaction.
Aemond’s usual calm demeanor faltered as he saw the letter in Alicent’s hand and the fire in her eyes. “Mother,” he began, but Alicent cut him off, her voice cold and sharp.
“Do not ‘Mother’ me,” she snapped, holding up the letter. “Explain this. Explain why my daughter, your wife, felt the need to flee from her home in the dead of night because of your actions.”
Aemond’s jaw tightened, but he said nothing, his gaze flickering briefly to Alys, who remained silent, cradling her child.
“You have disgraced our family,” Alicent continued, her voice trembling with controlled rage. “You have broken her heart, her spirit. And now, you will face the consequences. I will see to it that this marriage is annulled. She deserves better than this, better than you.”
Aemond’s lips pressed into a thin line, but he did not argue. The weight of his actions hung heavily in the room, and even Alys seemed uncomfortable under Alicent’s furious gaze.
“I will not allow this to continue,” Alicent declared. “You will leave her be. You will not pursue her, and you will not bring further shame upon this family.”
With that, Alicent turned on her heel, her grip on the letter unrelenting as she strode out of the room. Her heart ached for you, for the pain you had endured, but she was resolute. She would do everything in her power to protect you and to ensure that you found the peace you deserved.
Almost two years had passed since you left the Red Keep behind, finding solace and a new beginning in Dragonstone. The pain and betrayal you once felt had slowly been replaced by the warmth of your family, especially Rhaenyra and her children. Your days were now filled with laughter and peace, and the exchange of letters with your mother had become a comforting routine. She had informed you that the annulment of your marriage to Aemond had been finalized, a message that brought a profound sense of relief. You were free, truly free, from the chains of a past that had once broken you.
Life in Dragonstone had become your sanctuary. The walls, the sea, and the skies felt like home, a place where you could breathe and live without the shadows of your past looming over you. In this haven, you had grown close to Jace. His kindness, his understanding, and his gentle presence had slowly woven their way into your heart. He had been a constant source of support, offering you companionship and care as you healed from the wounds Aemond had left behind.
One evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a golden hue over the castle, Jace asked you to walk with him along the cliffs. The salty breeze played with your hair as you strolled side by side, the silence between you comfortable and familiar. Jace had always been thoughtful, but tonight there was a certain tension in the air, a nervous energy you hadn’t felt from him before.
He paused near the edge of the cliff, the crashing waves below providing a soothing backdrop to the moment. Turning to face you, he took a deep breath, his eyes searching yours with a mix of hope and vulnerability.
“I’ve been thinking about this for a long time,” he began, his voice steady but laced with emotion. “You’ve been through so much, and yet, here you are, strong and resilient. Being with you these past two years has been the happiest time of my life.”
Your heart began to race, a mixture of anticipation and surprise swirling within you.
“I know you might think it’s too soon, or that you’re not ready, but I need you to know how I feel,” he continued, reaching for your hands and holding them gently. “I love you, and I want to spend my life with you. Will you marry me?”
His words hung in the air, filled with sincerity and love. You could see the earnestness in his eyes, the way he waited anxiously for your response, hoping you felt the same.
For a moment, memories of the past flickered in your mind, but they were quickly overshadowed by the warmth of the present, the life you had built here, the love that had grown between you and Jace. He had been patient, never rushing you, always understanding.
A soft smile spread across your face as you squeezed his hands. “Yes, Jace,” you whispered, tears of joy welling in your eyes. “I’ll marry you.”
His face lit up with relief and happiness, and before you knew it, he had pulled you into a tight embrace, holding you as if you were the most precious thing in the world. In his arms, you felt safe, loved, and ready to begin this new chapter of your life, a chapter filled with love, hope, and the promise of a future together.
As you and Jace walked hand in hand back into the castle, your hearts were light with joy and anticipation. The corridors of Dragonstone felt warmer tonight, the stone walls echoing with the soft whispers of your shared future. When you reached the great hall, Rhaenyra and Daemon were seated by the hearth, engaged in a quiet conversation. Their attention shifted as you both entered, Jace leading you forward.
Jace’s hand squeezed yours gently as he addressed his mother. “Mother, we have something to share,” he began, his voice filled with excitement. “We’ve decided to marry. She has agreed to be my wife.”
Rhaenyra’s eyes lit up with happiness, a broad smile spreading across her face. She stood and stepped forward, taking both your hands in hers. “This is wonderful news,” she said, her voice warm with genuine joy. “I am so happy for both of you.”
Her embrace was tight and filled with love, as if welcoming you fully into her family. It was a moment of acceptance and celebration, her blessing clear and heartfelt.
However, as your eyes shifted to Daemon, his expression was more reserved. His jaw tightened slightly, and though he didn’t speak immediately, you could sense the conflict within him. The legacy of your mother, Alicent, and the tensions that had long simmered between their families were not easily forgotten. Yet, he held his tongue, his gaze meeting yours with a guarded intensity.
“Congratulations,” Daemon finally said, his tone measured, but his words carrying a hint of reluctance. He rose to his feet, standing beside Rhaenyra. “I trust you will make each other happy.”
Though his words were polite, there was an underlying tension. He didn’t openly oppose the union, but it was clear he harbored reservations, likely due to the history that bound your families in strife.
Jace, sensing the unease, stepped closer to you, his arm wrapping protectively around your waist. “We understand this isn’t easy,” he said, addressing Daemon directly. “But we love each other, and we want to build a future together. That’s all that matters.”
Daemon’s eyes flicked to Jace, then back to you. After a long moment, he gave a slight nod, perhaps acknowledging the sincerity in Jace’s words, or perhaps choosing to set aside his reservations for the sake of peace.
Rhaenyra, ever the peacemaker, placed a hand on Daemon’s arm, a silent plea for understanding. “What matters is that they’ve found happiness in each other,” she said softly. “Let’s celebrate that.”
Daemon exhaled, the tension in his shoulders easing ever so slightly. “Very well,” he conceded, though his tone was still tinged with reluctance. “Let it be a union of love.”
Relieved, you smiled, feeling Jace’s reassuring presence beside you. Rhaenyra’s enthusiasm and Daemon’s begrudging acceptance were enough to make this moment a hopeful beginning. The path forward wouldn’t be without challenges, but together, you knew you could face whatever came your way.
The day of your wedding dawned quietly, the morning mist wrapping Dragonstone in a serene embrace. Unlike the grand, ostentatious ceremonies you had once known, this day was intimate, marked by simplicity and the presence of only those closest to your heart. The small gathering was a reflection of the love you shared with Jace, a quiet yet profound celebration of a new beginning.
As you prepared in your chambers, Rhaenyra stood by your side, her presence a comforting anchor in the swirl of your emotions. She watched as you adjusted the delicate fabric of your gown, a soft smile playing on her lips. “You’ve been through so much,” she said, her voice gentle yet firm. “But today is about you—your happiness, your future. You deserve this joy, and I’m so proud of you.”
Her words were a balm to your nerves, and you felt a wave of gratitude for her unwavering support. She had been more than a half-sister; she had become a true sister, a confidante in your darkest hours. Her hand found yours, squeezing it reassuringly. “This is your moment,” she whispered. “Take it, and let yourself be happy.”
When the time came, you walked towards the small altar where Jace awaited, his eyes fixed on you with a mixture of love and awe. His presence was calming, his steady gaze promising a life of mutual respect and affection. The warmth of his smile as you reached his side steadied your racing heart, and the nervous flutter in your stomach eased as he took your hands in his.
The ceremony was brief, the words spoken simple yet heartfelt. Rhaenyra and Daemon stood beside you, their presence a testament to the new family you were building. Alicent’s absence was felt, but her blessings had been given through her letters, and you carried her love in your heart.
As the vows were exchanged, you felt a profound sense of peace wash over you. This was not a union born of duty or political gain, but one of genuine affection and shared dreams. Jace’s hand in yours was a promise, a symbol of the partnership you were forging together.
When the ceremony concluded, and you were declared husband and wife, the small gathering erupted in soft applause. Jace leaned in, his lips brushing against yours in a kiss that sealed your new bond, a gentle reminder of the love that had brought you to this moment.
Later, as the day faded into night and the candles in the great hall flickered softly, you found yourself beside Jace, the simplicity of the day leaving you content. The weight of the past began to lift, replaced by the promise of a future filled with hope and love.
Rhaenyra’s words echoed in your mind, a reminder that you had earned this happiness. And as Jace’s arm wrapped around your waist, drawing you closer, you knew that this was the beginning of a new chapter—one where you could finally find the peace and joy you had longed for.
Time seemed to slip through your fingers like grains of sand, each day blending seamlessly into the next. It felt as though only yesterday you and Jace stood before the small gathering, exchanging vows. Yet, here you were, sitting in the sun-dappled garden with Rhaenyra, her laughter mingling with the soft coos of little Aegon in her arms. The gentle breeze carried the scent of blooming flowers, and you rested a hand on your growing belly, feeling the life stirring within.
Rhaenyra’s teasing smile was as radiant as ever, her eyes twinkling with mischief. “You know,” she began, a playful lilt in her voice, “Daemon and I couldn’t sleep for weeks after your wedding. The walls here are not as thick as you might think.” Her laughter was infectious, and you felt your cheeks flush with warmth as you looked away, embarrassed yet unable to suppress a giggle.
“Rhaenyra!” you protested, your tone a mixture of shock and amusement. The memories of those early days—filled with love, passion, and whispered promises—were vivid in your mind. The bond between you and Jace had deepened quickly, the love you shared blooming into something even more profound.
“But look at the result,” Rhaenyra continued, her gaze dropping to your rounded belly. “It seems all that…enthusiasm bore fruit.” Her hand reached out, covering yours as it rested on your stomach. “You’re glowing, and soon you’ll have a little one of your own.”
The thought filled you with a mix of excitement and nervousness. The prospect of becoming a mother, of bringing a new life into the world, was both thrilling and daunting. But the support of Jace, Rhaenyra, and the family you had found in Dragonstone gave you strength.
Rhaenyra’s voice softened, the teasing edge replaced with genuine warmth. “You’ll be an amazing mother,” she said. “This child will be so loved, surrounded by a family that cherishes them.”
You nodded, a small smile playing on your lips as you felt a kick from within, a gentle reminder of the life growing inside you. The future was filled with promise, and as you sat there, surrounded by love and laughter, you felt a profound sense of peace.
“Thank you, Rhaenyra,” you whispered, your voice filled with gratitude. “For everything.”
Rhaenyra squeezed your hand, her expression one of sisterly affection. “We’re family,” she replied. “And we take care of our own.”
As the sun began to set, casting a golden glow over the garden, you leaned back in your chair, contentment washing over you. The journey had been long and fraught with challenges, but now, with a new life growing within you and a family that stood by your side, you felt ready to embrace whatever the future held.
Jace had grown into a devoted and attentive husband, always watching over you with a protective fervor that bordered on overbearing. His love and concern were palpable, and while you appreciated his attentiveness, there were moments when you wished for a bit more freedom. Today was one such instance.
As you sat in the garden with Rhaenyra, basking in the afternoon sun, you heard Jace calling your name. His voice, laced with a mixture of worry and relief, reached you before he did. You turned to see him striding towards you, his brow furrowed, still slightly sweaty from his training session with Luke.
“Where have you been?” he asked, his tone gentle yet firm. “I looked for you in our chambers, but you weren’t there.”
You offered a reassuring smile, hoping to ease his concerns. “I was just spending some time with your mother in the garden. I didn’t want to disturb your training, and I felt like getting some fresh air.”
Jace knelt beside you, his hands gently cradling your face as he searched your eyes for any sign of discomfort or distress. “You should have told me,” he murmured. “I don’t like you wandering around alone, especially not now.”
His gaze flicked to your growing belly, a tender smile tugging at his lips. The worry in his eyes softened, replaced by the gentle adoration he always showed when thinking about the child you were carrying.
“I’m fine, Jace,” you reassured him, placing a hand over his. “Rhaenyra was with me the whole time.”
Rhaenyra chuckled softly from her seat, watching the exchange with amusement. “Jace, she’s perfectly safe here. You don’t need to hover over her every moment.”
“I can’t help it,” Jace admitted, his cheeks coloring slightly. “I just…I worry.”
You squeezed his hand, appreciating his concern but also wanting him to understand. “I know, and I love that you care so much. But I need you to trust that I’ll take care of myself too.”
He nodded, sighing softly as he pressed a kiss to your forehead. “I’ll try. But I’ll always worry about you.”
Standing, Jace offered his hand to help you up, his protective nature not allowing him to let you rise on your own. “Come on, let’s get you inside. It’s getting cooler.”
With his arm around your waist, guiding you carefully back to the castle, you felt a sense of warmth and security. Jace’s love, though sometimes overwhelming, was steadfast and unwavering. It was a love you cherished, knowing that it came from a place of deep devotion and care.
As you entered your shared chamber, Jace guided you gently to the bed, urging you to sit and rest. He knelt before you, deftly removing your shoes, his fingers tenderly massaging your ankles. His touch was soothing, filled with care, as he leaned in to place a soft kiss on your growing belly. His hands caressed your abdomen, his lips following with a whisper meant for the baby you both eagerly awaited.
“You’ve been so good to your mother,” Jace murmured, his voice full of affection. “We can’t wait to meet you.”
You smiled down at him, your fingers threading through his hair as you basked in the warmth of the moment. The quiet intimacy was interrupted by the sound of the door opening, and a servant entered, carrying a sealed letter. The servant handed it to you with a respectful bow before retreating.
Curiosity piqued, you broke the seal, recognizing the familiar handwriting of your mother, Alicent. The contents of the letter were an invitation to return to King’s Landing for a grand celebration in honor of King Viserys’s birthday. Your heart skipped a beat as you read her request, knowing the importance of the occasion. It was not just a celebration for the realm’s ruler, but a family gathering—a chance to reconnect with your roots.
You looked up at Jace, who had been observing your reaction closely. “It’s from my mother,” you explained, handing him the letter. “She’s inviting us to King’s Landing for my father’s birthday celebration.”
Jace’s eyes scanned the letter, his brow furrowing slightly as he considered the implications. “Do you want to go?” he asked, his concern evident. “I know things are… complicated with your family.”
You sighed softly, placing a hand over his. “It’s complicated, yes. But it’s also important. Rhaenyra and Daemon will likely want to attend, and it’s a chance for me to see my family, despite everything. I think we should go.”
Jace nodded, his expression thoughtful. “If that’s what you want, we’ll go. But I’ll be by your side the whole time. I won’t let anything happen to you or our child.”
His protective nature reassured you, easing some of the anxiety that had begun to creep in. “Thank you, Jace. I feel better knowing you’ll be with me."
As the two of you sat together, contemplating the journey ahead, a sense of anticipation mingled with the lingering tension of old wounds. The road to King’s Landing would not just be a physical journey, but an emotional one as well—a step towards confronting the past and embracing whatever the future might hold for your family.
The towering spires of the Red Keep came into view, casting long shadows over the bustling port of King’s Landing. You stood at the edge of the ship’s deck, the sea breeze tugging at your gown as you gazed at the familiar yet distant city. Jace was at your side, his arm a comforting presence around your waist, his hand resting protectively over the swell of your belly. His touch was a constant reminder that, no matter what awaited you in the capital, you were not alone.
You turned your head slightly, catching sight of Rhaenyra and Daemon nearby. They, too, were watching the city approach, their expressions a mix of resolve and nostalgia. For them, like for you, this was more than just a visit—it was a return to a place filled with memories, both bitter and sweet.
Leaning into Jace’s shoulder, you allowed yourself a moment of quiet respite, closing your eyes as his arms encircled you. The journey had been taxing, especially given your current condition, and the looming prospect of facing your past weighed heavily on your mind. Yet, in Jace’s embrace, you found a sense of peace and strength, a reminder of the life you were building together, far removed from the shadows of King’s Landing.
Jace pressed a gentle kiss to the top of your head, his voice soft and reassuring. “We’ll get through this together,” he whispered. “No matter what happens, I’ll be here.”
You nodded, clutching his hand a little tighter. The city grew larger, its walls drawing closer as the ship made its final approach. The sight of it stirred a whirlwind of emotions within you—anticipation, dread, hope. As the Red Keep loomed ever nearer, you took a deep breath, steeling yourself for the days to come. You had left this place as a broken woman, but now you were returning stronger, with a family of your own to protect and cherish.
Whatever awaited you within those stone walls, you knew that with Jace by your side, you could face it.
As you stepped down carefully from the carriage, the bustling courtyard of the Red Keep greeted you with its usual cacophony. Servants scurried about, arms laden with decorations and provisions for the grand celebration planned for King Viserys’s birthday. The air buzzed with excitement, yet you felt a weariness settle over you, the long journey from Dragonstone taking its toll.
Jace was immediately at your side, his hand steadying you as he helped you out of the carriage. His eyes searched yours, concern etched across his face. “Are you all right?” he asked gently, his voice barely audible over the din around you.
You nodded, though exhaustion weighed heavily on your shoulders. “Just tired,” you admitted softly.
Rhaenyra and Daemon approached, their expressions a mix of anticipation and something else—perhaps trepidation—given the complex dynamics that awaited within the Keep. As they prepared to make their way toward the throne room to greet King Viserys, you turned to Rhaenyra with a small, apologetic smile.
“Would it be all right if we went straight to our chambers?” you asked. “I need to rest.”
Rhaenyra’s face softened with understanding, and she nodded. “Of course,” she said. “Take your time. We’ll see you at the feast later.”
Daemon gave a brief nod of agreement, his gaze lingering on you for a moment before he turned to follow his wife into the heart of the Keep.
With Jace’s arm firmly around your waist, you made your way through the familiar halls of the Red Keep. The grand corridors seemed both unchanged and yet different, imbued with memories that felt like they belonged to another life. As you walked, you couldn’t help but notice the way the servants’ eyes widened in shock at the sight of you. Whispers followed in your wake, their astonishment clear as they took in the sight of the daughter of Alicent Hightower, once married to Prince Aemond, now heavily pregnant and walking arm in arm with Prince Jacaerys Velaryon.
Jace’s grip on you tightened, a silent show of support against the unspoken judgments that hung in the air. He leaned in close, his voice a low murmur meant only for you. “Let them stare,” he said, a hint of defiance in his tone. “They don’t know your strength, or ours.”
You glanced up at him, a small smile tugging at the corners of your lips despite your fatigue. His unwavering support was a balm to your frayed nerves, and you found comfort in the steady rhythm of his steps beside you.
As you finally reached the familiar doors of your chambers, Jace opened them for you, ushering you inside before closing the door firmly behind you. The quiet of the room was a welcome reprieve from the noise outside. He guided you to the bed, helping you sit before kneeling in front of you, his hands resting on your knees.
“You’ve been incredible through all of this,” he said, his eyes full of admiration. “Rest now. I’ll be right here if you need anything.”
You nodded, your heart swelling with gratitude and love. As you lay back against the pillows, Jace settled beside you, his presence a reassuring anchor in a world that still felt uncertain.
As you turned, the door to your chambers slowly creaked open, and there, standing in the doorway, was your mother, Alicent, her eyes filled with unshed tears. Beside her stood Heleana, your sister, who looked at you with a mixture of concern and love. They both stepped inside, and without a word, they enveloped you in a warm embrace.
The familiar scent of your mother’s perfume and the comforting presence of Heleana brought a sense of peace you hadn’t realized you longed for. You felt a lump form in your throat as your mother spoke, her voice thick with emotion.
“I’ve missed you so much,” she whispered, her hand gently brushing through your hair. Heleana joined in, wrapping her arms around you, her voice soft but filled with affection. “We’ve both missed you.”
Tears welled in your eyes, not just from the pain of the past but from the sudden realization that despite everything, they were here, with you now. You had built a new life, but the love of family—those who truly cared—was something that always remained.
Your mother, pulling back slightly, gazed at Jace, who had stood silently by your side, his protective arm still around you. She took a deep breath before speaking again, her voice steady but laden with regret. “I… I want to thank you, Jace,” she said, her words sincere. “For giving her what she truly deserves. For loving her the way she should have always been loved.”
She paused, her gaze shifting to the floor briefly before lifting it again to meet his eyes. “I’m sorry,” she continued, her voice now tinged with sorrow. “For everything. The way I treated you, and your family. You did not deserve that.”
Jace, ever the steady presence, simply nodded, his eyes softening as he met her gaze. “It’s in the past,” he replied gently. “We move forward now.”
A brief silence followed, the weight of the past few years hanging between them. But in this moment, there was understanding, a step toward healing. Your mother’s apology, though not easy for her to give, had an undeniable sincerity. You could see it in the way her hands trembled slightly as she clasped her own in front of her.
Heleana, who had been silently observing, finally spoke up, her voice gentle. “You deserve happiness, both of you,” she said, her eyes filled with warmth. “I’m happy for you. For the family you’ve created.”
Her words were like a balm to the wounds that had been left untreated for so long. And as the room settled into a peaceful silence, you felt an overwhelming sense of relief. It wasn’t just the apology or the reconciliation—it was the simple truth that, despite everything, you had a family that still cared for you, and that love was worth rebuilding.
Your mother’s gentle hand traced your growing belly, her touch warm and tender, as she smiled softly at you. “You look radiant,” she said, her voice full of affection, her eyes glimmering with love. She kissed your forehead, a motherly gesture that made your heart swell. “I’m so proud of you,” she added quietly, her voice filled with emotions she didn’t often let slip.
Rhaenyra, who had been moving around the room, paused to look at you. Her expression softened, a knowing smile curving on her lips. “You should rest,” she said, stepping forward to help with your things despite your protests. “Let us do this. You’re carrying the future, after all.”
You tried to decline, wanting to take care of things yourself, but Rhaenyra was insistent, and her tone was kind but firm. “It’s not about what you can do—it’s about what we can do for you now.” With that, she motioned to her attendants, who began to unpack your belongings and arrange them carefully.
Despite your desire to remain independent, there was something comforting in the care they showed you. Rhaenyra’s presence felt like a reminder of the family bonds you had begun to rebuild, and your mother’s soft touch was a reminder that, despite everything, love had endured.
You sighed, a sense of peace settling over you as you allowed them to help. It was clear that both your mother and Rhaenyra wanted to support you—especially now, during this delicate time. Their kindness, in its simplicity, was more than you had ever expected. It was healing in its own way, allowing you to finally feel at ease, even amidst all the changes in your life.
As the room began to take shape with the items that had been moved and arranged, Rhaenyra smiled at you. “You deserve this happiness. You deserve to rest, to be cared for.”
Your heart swelled with gratitude, and you reached out, squeezing Rhaenyra’s hand gently. “Thank you,” you said softly, knowing that no matter the journey you’d been on, this moment—this sense of family—was the true gift.
You let out a small, frustrated sigh as you looked at the dresses hanging before you. The reality of your growing belly settled in as you tried on one gown after another, only to find that none of them fit quite like they used to. Each attempt left you feeling more disheartened. The grand celebration tonight, your chance to present yourself to the court and your family, was approaching, but the idea of not having anything suitable to wear only made you feel more exposed.
You muttered under your breath, cursing softly at the fact that none of your formal gowns fit anymore. “Why did it have to be tonight?” you mumbled, feeling a growing sense of annoyance. The last thing you wanted was to feel like you were drawing attention to the changes in your body—something that had already been the source of too many complicated emotions.
As you stepped out of the gown you had just tried on, you caught a glimpse of your reflection in the mirror. For a moment, you stared at yourself, unsure of how to feel. The weight of everything—the pregnancy, the marriage, the responsibility—had taken its toll. And yet, beneath the surface, there was a flicker of excitement. Tonight was about celebrating, about reclaiming some sense of joy after everything you had been through.
You shook off your frustration and took a deep breath. You needed to find something, something that would make you feel confident. After all, this night was not just about appearances—it was about embracing who you had become, and all that you were carrying with you, literally and figuratively.
Just as you were about to give up, a familiar voice called out from the door.
“Need a little help?” Jace stood there, leaning against the frame of the door, his usual warmth and concern written on his face.
You smiled softly at him, despite the frustration bubbling inside. “I can’t find anything that fits for tonight,” you admitted, your voice tinged with exasperation.
You blinked in surprise as Jace gestured toward one of the servants. “Please bring the dress I’ve prepared for her,” he said with a smile, his voice carrying the tone of someone who knew exactly what was needed. You watched in confusion as the servant returned with a beautiful gown in her hands.
The gown was a striking combination of deep red and black, the colors of House Targaryen. It was unlike any of the dresses you had worn before—bold, yet elegant, fitting for the occasion. You could hardly believe it when Jace explained.
“I knew the formal gowns wouldn’t fit you anymore, so I had something made for you,” Jace said softly, walking over to you with a small smile on his lips. “I wanted you to feel like yourself tonight, regardless of… well, everything else.”
As the servant helped you into the gown, you couldn’t help but feel a sense of gratitude and warmth toward Jace. It was so thoughtful of him, and it showed how much he cared. The fabric fit comfortably, accentuating your form without being too tight, and the colors seemed to shimmer in the soft light of the room.
Jace stepped back, eyes scanning the gown with a proud glint in his eyes. “What do you think? Does it fit?”
You twirled around in the gown, the fabric flowing gracefully with each movement. It felt different from the gaudy or tight dresses you were used to—this one felt like it had been made just for you, a perfect blend of your strength, your heritage, and the love that surrounded you now.
“It’s perfect,” you said, smiling at him with genuine appreciation. “Thank you, Jace. This means more than you know.”
He grinned, the light in his eyes soft and affectionate. “Anything to make you feel special tonight,” he said. “And I think you already do.”
Your heart fluttered with a mix of emotions, but above all, you felt a deep sense of peace. With Jace by your side, you could face whatever the night held. And for the first time in a long while, you felt ready.
You stood before the mirror, gazing at your reflection, the elegant gown hugging your growing form. The deep red and black fabric seemed to hold your essence, a blend of strength and grace. Jace stood behind you, his arms wrapped gently around you, his hand resting on your swollen belly. The warmth of his touch grounded you, and a sense of peace settled in your chest.
As you stared into the mirror, you felt a small sigh escape your lips. The life you once knew, with its chaos and heartbreak, felt so far away now. The man behind you—Jace—was all you had ever wanted in a partner. He loved you not because of duty or obligation, but because he truly saw you. The love he gave was not a burden; it was a gift, something you’d never known you needed but now couldn’t live without.
Jace’s voice, soft and tender, broke the silence. “You look beautiful,” he whispered in your ear, his lips brushing against your skin as he spoke. “I can’t believe how lucky I am to have you.”
His words made your heart flutter. There was no resentment, no bitterness in his tone—just pure love. You turned your head slightly, catching his gaze in the mirror. His eyes were full of warmth, tenderness, and sincerity. His fingers moved slowly over your belly, caressing it as if holding your unborn child in reverence.
“I love you,” Jace whispered again, his voice a soothing melody that filled your heart with warmth. “More than you’ll ever know.”
You closed your eyes for a moment, savoring the feeling of his embrace. It was so different from the cold, harsh reality you had once endured. With Jace, there was no fear, no uncertainty—only love, acceptance, and a future that felt brighter than anything you had ever imagined.
“I love you too,” you murmured back, your voice thick with emotion. “You make me feel safe. Happy.”
The moment stretched between you, both of you simply holding each other in the silence. It felt right—like this was where you were always meant to be. Aemond’s betrayal, the heartache you had suffered, seemed distant and small now, swallowed by the love and comfort that Jace had given you.
“Tonight,” Jace said softly, breaking the quiet, “We’ll celebrate our new life. But for now, it’s just you and me. I’m so grateful for this—grateful for you.”
You smiled, turning in his arms to face him completely. He leaned in to kiss you, a soft, gentle kiss that conveyed everything words could not. His love was overwhelming, and in his arms, you felt whole again—no longer the broken woman from before, but a woman who had been healed by the love of her true partner.
In this moment, nothing else mattered. Tonight, you would share the joy of your new beginning, but for now, you were content in the stillness, with Jace by your side, loving you like no one ever had before.
As you walked side by side with Jace into the grand hall, the sounds of laughter and celebration filled the air. The atmosphere was lively, but as soon as you entered, a hush fell over the room. All eyes turned toward you. The weight of their gaze was undeniable, but it was Jace’s presence beside you that steadied your steps, grounding you amidst the scrutiny.
Your heart fluttered with nerves, but Jace’s hand held yours firmly, his reassuring touch offering you solace. You walked confidently toward your father, Viserys, who sat at the head of the table. A smile spread across his face as he looked at you, his eyes softening as they landed on your belly. He stood to greet you, his voice warm and welcoming.
“Congratulations,” he said, his gaze flicking briefly to your swollen belly before returning to meet your eyes. “I am so happy for both of you.”
You smiled back, the words of your father bringing a small sense of comfort. Jace squeezed your hand, his pride evident in the way he stood next to you. For a moment, the world seemed to narrow to just the two of you and your new beginning.
But as you made your way forward, you couldn’t ignore the intense gaze from across the room. Aemond sat at the far end of the table, his cold eyes locked onto you and Jace. His expression was unreadable, his lips set in a tight line as he stared without saying a word. Next to him, Alys sat silently, her child resting in her lap—an image that seemed to freeze your heart.
The sight of Aemond, his gaze piercing and distant, brought a tightness to your chest. You could feel his disapproval radiating from him, a silent accusation in his eyes. The child in his lap, a reminder of his betrayal, only added to the tension that pulsed between you.
You could almost hear the silent words between you and him, unspoken but heavy in the air. But you refused to let it affect you. You had moved on. You had found a new life, a new family in Jace, and no matter how Aemond looked at you, it didn’t change that.
Jace’s grip on your hand tightened slightly, a subtle reminder of his unwavering support. He could feel the shift in the air, but he said nothing. Instead, he simply stood tall beside you, his presence a shield against the coldness from across the room.
You walked toward your father and took your seat, the weight of the moment settling over you. Aemond’s gaze never wavered, but you refused to meet it. The past was behind you, and you were no longer the woman who had let herself be trapped by his coldness and betrayal.
Tonight was about celebration, about the new life growing within you and the love you had found with Jace. The past—Aemond, Alys, the hurt—had no place here, and you wouldn’t let it ruin your joy.
As the evening unfolded, the lively chatter and the sounds of the celebration filled the grand hall, but your attention was entirely on Jace. He had insisted you eat, even though your plate was still full. His worry for you, for the well-being of the child you were carrying, was evident in every gesture.
When the manservant brought forward a plate of sweets you particularly enjoyed, Jace smiled proudly and handed them to you, not noticing the amused glances from Rhaenyra and your mother, Alicent, seated beside you.
“I told you I’m fine,” you laughed softly, lightly pushing the plate of sweets away, already feeling full from the rich meal that had been served. “I haven’t even finished my dinner yet.”
But Jace was unperturbed, his eyes filled with concern. “You need to eat more, for the baby. Mother and your mother both say you should eat plenty, and they’re right,” he said, his tone unwavering.
Rhaenyra and Alicent exchanged glances, their laughter echoing softly across the table. You could tell they were enjoying the sight of Jace’s earnestness, the way he was fussing over you like a doting husband. It was both endearing and a little frustrating, especially when your stomach had no room for any more sweets.
“Jace, I really don’t need any more,” you said, gently pushing the plate further away. “I’m already full. Really.”
But Jace simply smiled, oblivious to your protests. “Nonsense,” he said. “A little more won’t hurt, will it?”
Your mother’s laughter rang through the air. “He certainly is determined,” she teased, her gaze softening as she watched her daughter and son-in-law interact.
You sighed, a mix of amusement and mild exasperation at Jace’s overzealous attention to your needs. But despite the small frustration, you couldn’t help but smile at how much he cared, at how he always made sure you were well taken care of, whether it was ensuring you ate enough or offering constant support.
“You’re impossible,” you said with a playful smile, and Jace just grinned, pleased with his efforts to look after you.
Rhaenyra leaned in, her eyes twinkling with humor. “He does make it hard for you to say no, doesn’t he?”
You nodded, giving Jace a mock glare before turning back to your mother. “I don’t know how you put up with him all the time.”
Alicent chuckled, brushing a strand of hair from her face. “It’s all part of being a mother-in-law. I suppose I’ve grown used to it.”
Though the playful banter continued, it was clear that your family, despite the turmoil of the past, had found a sense of joy and peace again. And that, in itself, made the night feel all the more special. You felt a slight tension rise in your chest as Alys approached, her presence undeniable as she cradled her child in her arms. She smiled warmly, offering her congratulations to you and Jace, her voice sweet and calm.
“Congratulations to you both,” Alys said softly, her eyes lingering on your growing belly.
You nodded politely, offering a small smile, but your mind couldn’t help but wander. As she mentioned her son, you glanced at the child she was holding. The little one had silver hair, unmistakably a Targaryen trait. You couldn’t help but comment, “He looks just like Aemond.”
Alys smiled, her expression gentle as she glanced down at her child. “Yes, he does,” she said, her voice filled with maternal pride. “Aemond and I are hoping for a sibling for him soon.”
Her words, though kind, hit you like a sharp pang in your heart. The thought of Aemond and Alys trying for another child, especially after everything that had transpired, was almost too much to bear. You forced yourself to maintain a calm exterior, though your stomach churned with a mix of emotions—jealousy, hurt, and frustration.
Jace, noticing the slight shift in your mood, squeezed your hand reassuringly under the table, his eyes flicking between you and Alys.
Alys, seemingly oblivious to the effect her words had on you, continued talking about her son and how happy she was with her little family. But your mind was elsewhere, struggling to reconcile the image of Aemond with his new family and the new life you were trying to build with Jace.
You did your best to smile and respond politely, but the conversation felt strained. It wasn’t that you harbored ill feelings towards Alys or her son—it was the reminder of everything you had lost, and how easily Aemond had moved on, leaving you behind in the wake of his choices.
Jace, sensing the shift in the atmosphere, gave you a subtle nudge, and you quickly redirected your attention back to him, offering a smile that was only half genuine.
“Thank you, Alys,” you said, your voice steady, though inside, a whirlwind of emotions raged. “I’m glad to see you and your son doing well.”
She smiled warmly, seemingly unaware of the tension that simmered beneath the surface. “It’s been wonderful, truly,” Alys replied before turning her attention back to her child.
As she walked away, you exhaled deeply, grateful for the brief respite from the conversation. Jace gave your hand a comforting squeeze, his silent support more than enough to help you regain your composure.
For a moment, you allowed yourself to lean into him, taking comfort in the stability he provided, a stark contrast to the chaos and heartbreak of your past.
The moment Alys left, a wave of relief washed over you, but it was short-lived. The atmosphere grew tense once again as you saw Aemond and Aegon approaching, the weight of their presence undeniable. You could feel your heart race, your body instinctively tensing as they drew nearer.
Aegon, ever the charismatic one, gave you a warm smile and congratulated you on your marriage. His words were genuine, though the tension in the air was palpable. Aemond, however, had a different aura—his expression was cold, his eyes sharp as he fixed his gaze on you and Jace.
“Congratulations,” Aemond said with a forced politeness, though his voice lacked warmth. He then added with a calculated calmness, “I must admit, your decision to marry Jace is quite the surprise. How could you marry a bastard like him?”
The words stung, but you didn’t flinch. You had grown accustomed to Aemond’s cutting remarks. You met his gaze with equal intensity, refusing to let him undermine your happiness any longer.
“How could I marry a bastard like him?” you echoed, your voice steady, but a fire burning in your chest. “And how could you, Aemond, have a bastard child with the bastard girl of Harrenhal? What’s the difference between us?”
Aemond’s face tightened at your words, his lips pressing into a thin line as he took in your response. The room felt smaller, the tension thicker. He opened his mouth, but no words came out at first. He had always expected you to cower before him, but today was different. Today, you were not the same woman he had left behind.
You saw a flicker of frustration in his eyes, but he quickly masked it with a cold, dismissive look. “You’ve changed,” he muttered, though it seemed more to himself than to you.
Jace, ever protective, stepped closer to you, his arm coming around your waist possessively. He met Aemond’s stare with a challenging gaze, unspoken tension hanging between them.
Aegon, sensing the growing hostility, quickly intervened, attempting to defuse the situation. “Let’s not do this now,” he said, his tone softer. “It’s a celebration tonight. We’re here to honor our father.”
But Aemond, still silent, looked between you and Jace with a mixture of disdain and something else you couldn’t quite place. He knew the words he had spoken had hit their mark, but you were no longer the woman who would let his venom affect her.
“I’ve made my choices, Aemond,” you said firmly, your gaze unwavering. “And I’ll continue to make them. Your opinion doesn’t matter to me anymore.”
With that, you turned your attention to Jace, your hand finding his, drawing strength from him as you walked away from the tension-filled encounter. The murmurs of the room faded as you and Jace made your way to a quieter corner, where you could finally breathe freely again.
Jace, ever the calm in the storm, gave your hand a reassuring squeeze, his eyes soft with affection. “Are you alright?” he asked, his voice low and comforting.
You nodded, a small smile tugging at your lips. “I am now.”
You had been spending more time in the Red Keep, adjusting to this new phase of your life. With your family, including Rhaenyra and your mother, growing closer, things had begun to settle. The tension between your family members had diminished, and there was a sense of peace that you hadn’t felt in a long time.
That morning, you found yourself sitting with Heleana, enjoying the company of her twin children as they played nearby. Their laughter filled the air, and for a moment, you allowed yourself to smile, feeling the warmth of family. Yet, beneath that smile, there was an ache—an uncomfortable pressure you couldn’t quite shake. It wasn’t just physical; it was as though your body was reminding you of the strain you’d been carrying.
As the children ran around, you tried to hide your discomfort, taking slow, steady breaths to calm the mounting pain in your abdomen. You didn’t want to worry Heleana or anyone else, so you kept your focus on the children, pretending that everything was fine. But the truth was, the constant dull pain had become something you couldn’t ignore.
Heleana noticed your shift in demeanor, her sharp eyes catching the subtle change in your expression. She paused for a moment, looking at you with concern. “Are you alright?” she asked softly, her voice laced with care. “You look like you’re in pain.”
You tried to brush it off with a smile, but it didn’t reach your eyes. “I’m fine, just a little tired,” you replied, attempting to downplay it. “I think I just need a moment to rest.”
But Heleana wasn’t convinced. She stood up and walked over to you, placing a gentle hand on your shoulder. “If something is wrong, you know you can talk to me, right?” she said, her voice warm and understanding.
You hesitated for a moment, torn between wanting to confide in her and not wanting to burden anyone with your concerns. But then, the pain flared again, sharper this time, and you couldn’t hold it in any longer.
“I’ve been feeling… off,” you admitted quietly. “It’s like there’s something not right, and I don’t know how to explain it.”
Heleana’s face softened with empathy, and she knelt beside you, taking your hand. “You should speak to someone, perhaps a maester, to make sure everything is alright,” she suggested gently.
You nodded, your heart heavy with uncertainty. You had been so focused on rebuilding your life and finding happiness that you hadn’t allowed yourself to acknowledge the possibility that something could be wrong.
“Thank you, Heleana,” you whispered, grateful for her support. “I’ll think about it.”
As you sat there, the laughter of the children faded into the background, replaced by the heavy thoughts running through your mind. Something inside you knew you couldn’t ignore this feeling any longer.
The pain intensified, each wave making it harder to focus on anything else. You clutched your stomach, unable to ignore the overwhelming sensation anymore. Looking at Heleana, you whispered, “Please, help me. I think it’s time… it’s time for the baby.”
Heleana’s eyes widened in concern, but without hesitation, she helped you up, supporting you as you staggered toward your room. She could sense the urgency, the change in your breathing, the way you were trying to hide your discomfort, but she knew you couldn’t ignore it any longer.
Once inside your room, Heleana didn’t waste a second. She quickly stepped out, telling you she would get Jace and a maester immediately. The moment she left, you were left alone, walking back and forth in your room, trying to ease the growing pain with slow, deliberate movements. Each step, each breath, felt like a small battle.
Time seemed to stretch as the pain surged and receded, leaving you wondering how much longer you could bear it. You were no longer just anticipating the arrival of your child; it had arrived in the form of this unbearable, sharp reminder of what was coming.
Minutes later, Jace burst into the room, his face a mix of concern and urgency. His eyes scanned you quickly before he rushed over, his voice barely above a whisper. “Breathe, love. Please, sit down."
You could hear the panic in his voice, the way he was trying to stay composed for your sake, but it only made your heart race faster. He gently guided you toward the bed, helping you sit down, his hands steady yet trembling with concern. “Stay with me, just breathe,” he urged, his hands resting lightly on your shoulders, his presence a comfort amidst the overwhelming pain.
The maester arrived soon after, and Jace’s face softened with relief as he stepped aside to let the healer do their work. The maester checked on you quickly, muttering words of reassurance as he confirmed that the time had come. “It’s happening,” he said, giving Jace a nod before he began preparing for the delivery.
Jace turned to you then, his eyes filled with love and worry. “You’re doing great, just keep breathing, alright?” He sat beside you, holding your hand, offering whatever comfort he could as the maester worked.
The room was filled with a tense silence, broken only by your labored breaths and the quiet, soothing words Jace whispered to you. The pain was unbearable, but his presence was the anchor you needed. His steady voice, his comforting touch—he was there, and that alone was enough to help you find the strength to keep going.
“You’re strong,” Jace said, his voice full of admiration. “You can do this. I’m right here with you.”
And in that moment, with his words and his love surrounding you, you knew you weren’t alone. The journey ahead would be painful, but with him by your side, you could face anything.
The sharp wave of contraction ripped through your body, and you couldn’t hold back the scream that tore from your throat. Your grip on Jace’s hand tightened, knuckles white as you clung to him like a lifeline. He was right beside you, whispering soothing words, but the pain was overwhelming, consuming every part of you.
Your mother, Alicent, and Rhaenyra were both there now, their presence adding a layer of comfort. They stood at your side, each offering soft words of encouragement, their hands brushing against your hair, wiping away the sweat that beaded on your forehead. The room was filled with a flurry of movement, the midwives and maester working efficiently, their voices calm and reassuring as they guided you through the process.
“It’s too much,” you gasped, shaking your head in desperation. “I can’t do this. It hurts… it hurts too much.”
Alicent leaned in, her voice steady and filled with a mother’s unwavering strength. “You are stronger than you think. You can do this. Just one more push, my darling.”
Rhaenyra echoed her, a determined look in her eyes. “You’ve come so far. You’re almost there. We’re all here with you.”
Jace pressed a kiss to your temple, his voice soft but firm. “I believe in you. You’re doing so well. Just one more time, love. For our son.”
Their words were a lifeline, pulling you from the depths of your despair. Drawing in a shaky breath, you gathered every ounce of strength left in your body. With a guttural cry, you pushed, the pain reaching its crescendo as you gave one final effort.
The room seemed to still for a heartbeat, and then, the sound of a baby’s cry filled the air. Relief washed over you like a tidal wave as the midwives worked quickly, bringing your child into the world. Tears welled up in your eyes, blurring your vision as they placed the squirming, crying baby into your arms.
“It’s a boy,” the maester announced, smiling as he stepped back.
Jace’s eyes were filled with awe as he looked down at the tiny bundle in your arms. His hand trembled slightly as he reached out to touch the soft, silver hair on your son’s head. “He’s perfect,” Jace whispered, his voice thick with emotion. “Just like his mother.”
You couldn’t tear your eyes away from your son, overwhelmed by a flood of love and relief. His cries softened as he nestled against you, his tiny fingers curling around your thumb. “Hello, my sweet boy,” you murmured, your voice cracking with emotion. “You’re finally here.”
Alicent and Rhaenyra looked on with tears in their eyes, sharing in the joy and relief that filled the room. “You did it,” Alicent said softly, pressing a kiss to your forehead. “You brought him into this world.”
Rhaenyra smiled, brushing a tear from her cheek. “He’s a true Targaryen. Strong and beautiful, just like his parents.”
Jace leaned in, pressing another kiss to your temple, his own tears falling freely now. “I love you,” he whispered. “Both of you. You’ve made me the happiest man in the world.”
In that moment, surrounded by the warmth of your family, the pain and fear melted away, replaced by an overwhelming sense of peace and joy. Your son was here, healthy and safe, and your heart swelled with a love that you knew would only grow with each passing day.
As you cradled your newborn son in your arms, a wave of relief washed over you. His tiny cries filled the room, a sweet sound that marked the culmination of your pain and struggle. Jace was at your side, his eyes shining with pride and love as he gazed down at his son. Alicent and Rhaenyra stood nearby, their expressions softened with joy.
But then, without warning, a sharp, familiar pain gripped your abdomen once more. You gasped, clutching at your stomach as the pain intensified. The room shifted from serene to alarmed in an instant, the midwives and maester springing back into action.
“It’s happening again,” you managed to choke out, your voice trembling with fear and exhaustion. “What’s going on?”
The maester stepped forward, his expression calm but urgent. “You’re carrying twins, Your Grace. We must act quickly. The second child is on their way.”
Jace’s grip on your hand tightened, his face pale but resolute. “You’re strong,” he whispered, his voice a steady anchor in the storm of pain. “You can do this. I’m right here with you.”
Alicent knelt beside you, her hands trembling as she brushed the damp hair from your face. “You’ve already brought one beautiful child into this world. You can do it again. We’re all here with you.”
Rhaenyra leaned in, her voice soothing and filled with determination. “Focus on your breathing. We’ll get through this together."
Drawing on their words, you summoned what little strength you had left. The contractions came fast and hard, each one sapping your energy, but you refused to give up. The thought of your second child, waiting to take their first breath, fueled you to push through the pain
The room blurred around you as you bore down, your body trembling with the effort. Time seemed to stretch endlessly, each second a battle against the overwhelming exhaustion threatening to consume you. But with one final, agonizing push, the pressure released, and the room filled with the cries of your second child.
A sob of relief escaped your lips as the midwives carefully placed your newborn daughter into your arms. Her tiny face scrunched up as she wailed, her voice strong and fierce. Tears streamed down your cheeks as you looked down at her, her delicate features a mirror of her brother’s.
“It’s a girl,” the maester announced, a smile breaking through his composed demeanor. “Both children are healthy.”
Jace’s eyes welled with tears as he reached out to gently touch his daughter’s hand, her tiny fingers wrapping around his. “She’s perfect,” he whispered, his voice filled with awe. “Just like her brother. Just like you.”
Your heart swelled as you cradled both of your children, the weight of them grounding you in this moment of profound joy and love. Despite the pain, despite the fear, you had brought them both into the world, and they were safe in your arms.
Alicent pressed a kiss to your forehead, her tears mingling with yours. “You did it, my love. You brought two beautiful souls into this world.”
As Jace wrapped his arms around you, holding you and your children close, you felt a surge of love so powerful it took your breath away. This was your family, your heart. No matter what challenges lay ahead, you knew that together, you could face anything.

When you started dating a famous person, you knew things wouldn’t be easy. Paparazzi, overzealous fans, and the constant need for caution every time you stepped outside, those challenges came with the territory. You’d prepared yourself for it, and over time, those things became just another part of your daily routine, barely registering as problems anymore.
What you hadn’t expected, though, was how difficult the distance would be.
Being away from Mark for days, weeks, sometimes even months, felt like torture. The only thing keeping you sane was the existence of technology—video calls, texts, and voice messages filled the gaps when he was free. But it wasn’t the same. There were nights when the loneliness hit harder than usual, when a screen or the sound of his voice through the phone just couldn’t replace the warmth of his presence. You didn’t just want him; you needed him there, right beside you.
But you knew that, no matter how much you longed for his presence, things couldn’t just change on a whim. Mark couldn’t simply drop everything he was doing to spend a day with you—even though he’d suggested it more times than you could count. The thought alone made your heart ache and swell at the same time, knowing how much he cared but also understanding the weight of his responsibilities.
Still, Mark always found a way to remind you that you were on his mind, no matter how far apart you were. Like the random voice notes he’d send in the middle of the night, whispering about his day because he knew you'd listen to them first thing in the morning. Or the surprise delivery of your favorite snacks and flowers with a note that simply read, "Thinking of you. Always."
It wasn’t the same as having him there, but it was enough to keep you going.
“So… you really won’t be here tonight?” The disappointment in your voice was clear as you lay on your bed, hugging the pillow tightly and pressing your cellphone against your ear. “You couldn’t make it for Christmas, and now this…”
He was supposed to come home today, and at least start the year with you after weeks without seeing each other. But something went wrong with their flight, and now they’d have to wait two more days to board another plane. Two days might not seem like much, but after being apart for so long, the thought of waiting two more days felt like an eternity.
“I know it’s frustrating, I really wanted to be there with you,” you could hear his sigh on the other end of the line. “I promise I’m doing everything I can to get home to you as soon as possible. These two days will fly by, I’ll make it up to you when I get there. Just a little longer, okay? I miss you so much.”
The warmth in his voice made the ache in your chest a little more bearable, but it still didn’t take away the longing you felt. “I miss you too, love, you have no idea,” you said, letting out an exasperated sigh. “I wanna see you so bad, Mark.”
“I know,” he replied softly. “I wanna see you too. Just hang in there for me, okay? I’ll be there before you know it.” Before he could say more, you heard faint voices in the background followed by his hum. “Baby, I… I hate to do this, but my manager’s calling me. I have to go,” he said reluctantly.
“It’s okay,” you chuckled softly, imagining the little pout that was surely on his face. “Go do what you need to do.”
“I’ll call you as soon as I can, okay? Promise. Love you.”
“Love you too.”
And just like that, the call ended, leaving the room enveloped in quiet once more, the only sound now your soft breathing. You let out a long sigh, staring at the ceiling. It was just you and the silence again.
But the quiet didn’t last long. Three firm knocks on your front door echoed through the room, loud enough to pull you from your thoughts. You glanced at the time on your phone—it wasn’t exactly the hour for unannounced visits, and you weren’t expecting anyone. Well, not anymore, anyway. Maybe it was your neighbor, they had an uncanny knack for finding reasons to complain about the tiniest sounds.
You let out a small groan and shouted, “I’m coming!” as another knock sounded, dragging yourself out of bed.
“Hi, how can I—” The words died on your lips the moment you saw who was standing at the door. Your eyes widened, and your jaw slackened as your hand remained frozen on the doorknob.
“Hey, beautiful,” Mark greeted you with that boyish smile you adored, a cute teddy bear in one hand and a box of chocolates in the other. The sight of him left you speechless, your heart racing as if it couldn’t quite believe what it was seeing.
Before you knew it, you had thrown yourself into his arms, the force of your embrace nearly causing the teddy bear and chocolates to slip from his grip. He caught you effortlessly, as if he had been waiting for this moment as much as you had. Your arms tightened around him, your face burying into his shoulder as his familiar scent washed over you, sweeping away the loneliness of the past weeks in an instant.
Mark managed to nudge the door shut behind him and guided you both further inside. Without breaking the hug, he set the teddy bear and chocolates down on a nearby surface, his hands quickly finding their way back to you. His arms wrapped around you firmly now, holding you close, as if he never wanted to let go.
You pulled back just enough to look at him, your hands cupping his face as if making sure he was real. “You’re really here?” you asked softly, your eyes scanning every inch of his familiar features.
“I’m really here,” he replied with a chuckle, leaning into your touch. He couldn’t help but find it adorable how you stared at him like he was some kind of alien. Covering your hand with his, he turned his head slightly to press a tender kiss to your palm.
“So… all that stuff about the airplane was a lie?” you asked, raising an eyebrow. His cheeky grin was all the answer you needed.
“I wanted to make a—” he started, but his explanation was cut off as your hands playfully squished his cheeks.
“Mark Lee!” you scolded, though the smile breaking across your face betrayed your mock anger.
Mark laughed softly as he tried to wiggle free from your hands, his grin never leaving his face. “Okay, okay, I deserved that,” he said, eyes sparkling with affection. “I thought it would be a good surprise, sorry.”
You let go of his cheeks, your hands sliding down to rest on his shoulders, then gently on his chest as you looked up at him. There was a moment of silence, the playful energy from before softening into something deeper, more intimate. You searched his eyes, your voice quieter, more sincere.
“And it was,” you whispered, your heart full as you leaned in slightly. “God, it was. I’m so glad you’re here.”
“I’m glad I’m finally here too, I missed you so much,” Mark said softly, his voice thick with emotion. It was his turn to cup your face gently between his hands, his gaze soft as he looked at you, almost as if he was memorizing the moment. Without another word, he leaned in, bringing his lips to yours in a warm, affectionate kiss that felt like home, his love for you pouring into every second.
The kiss lingered for a moment, slow and tender, as if both of you were savoring the reunion, letting the warmth of each other fill the space between you. When you finally pulled away, both of you were breathless, your foreheads resting together.
“You’re really here,” you whispered again, as if you couldn’t quite believe it, the words tumbling out like a soft confession.
Mark chuckled, brushing a strand of hair behind your ear. “I’m here, baby. For as long as you’ll have me.”
Your heart fluttered at his words, a rush of relief and joy flooding through you. You leaned in again, kissing him once more, this time deeper, pulling him even closer, as if you couldn't get enough. Mark’s hand found its way to the back of your neck, his other hand sliding down to your waist, rubbing slow circles that made you melt into him.
“Mmh, I missed that too,” he murmured against your lips, his smile evident in his voice as his hands toyed with the waistband of your pants.
“Mark…” you tried to sound stern, your tone a mix of warning and amusement as you attempted to pull away. But he wasn’t having it, his lips quickly chasing yours, capturing them in another kiss.
“What?” he asked innocently, though the playful glint in his eyes betrayed him. His hands slid lower, cupping your ass with a firm squeeze that had your breath hitching, pulling you impossibly closer to him. “You act like you don’t like it,” he teased, his voice low and dripping with affection.
You rolled your eyes, though the warmth spreading through your chest made it hard to be truly annoyed. “I didn’t say that,” you muttered, trying to keep a straight face.
“Exactly,” he smirked, his grip on you tightening slightly. “So let me make up for all the time I’ve been away.”
Before you could say anything more, he silenced you with another kiss, gently guiding you backward toward the bedroom. You didn’t try to protest or stop him, simply letting the moment continue as your arms wrapped around his neck. As you passed through the bedroom door, Mark felt his mind drift into a state of calm. The entire space carried your scent, wrapping around him like a warm embrace. It was just another one of the countless things he missed—the feeling of being surrounded by everything that reminded him of you.
Mark gently laid you down on the bed, his lips staying connected to yours as he followed you. The comforting weight of his body against yours made everything else fade away. His kisses began to wander, trailing from your jaw to your neck, then down to your collarbone and the delicate valley between your breasts.
You couldn’t take your eyes off him, watching his every move as your heart pounded in your chest, loud enough that you were sure he could hear it. With slow, deliberate movements, he lifted your shirt, his lips continuing their journey downward, leaving a trail of warm, lingering kisses along your belly. The soft sensation sent a ripple of tingles through you, drawing a quiet chuckle from your lips.
Mark glanced up at the sound, a side smile gracing his lips before he returned to his path, stopping just at the waistband of your pants. His gaze lifted to meet yours again, the intensity in his eyes stealing your breath and leaving you speechless, your entire body attuned to his next move.
Mark’s hands lingered at your waistband, his fingers brushing lightly against your skin, igniting a trail of warmth that made your breath catch. His gaze never wavered from yours, searching your eyes as if silently asking for permission. When you nodded, the smallest movement, he leaned up to kiss you again. Soft, tender, and unhurried, as though he wanted to savor every second. His hands worked deftly, slipping your pants down inch by inch, his lips following their descent with featherlight kisses that sent shivers up your spine.
“You’re so beautiful,” he murmured, his breath warm against your skin as his lips traced a path along the inside of your thighs. Every kiss, every gentle press of his hands, carried a tenderness that left no doubt about how much he’d missed you, full of care and unspoken longing.
Your heart raced as you took him in, the contrast of his soft, adoring gaze and the undeniably seductive way he moved leaving you breathless. He looked so unfairly perfect—both sweet and completely enticing—positioned between your legs, his intentions written clearly in his eyes.
“Mark…” you whispered, your voice barely audible as your fingers found their way to his hair, tugging lightly. You weren’t even sure if it was meant to ground yourself or encourage him further, but the smirk that tugged at his lips told you he knew exactly the effect he was having on you.
And you didn’t need to say anything more. His mouth had already found its way to your center, the thin fabric of your underwear doing little to shield you from the heat of his tongue as it teased over the delicate material. A sharp gasp escaped your lips, your breath coming in a long, shaky sigh as your eyes dropped to meet his. The way he looked at you, so intent and unrelenting, only made the anticipation coil tighter in your core.
He didn’t make you wait long. His tongue moved purposefully, pressing against the sensitive bundle of nerves even through the fabric, a sensation so electrifying it had your fingers clutching the sheets beside you. The soft suction that followed had a breathy moan slipping from your lips, unbidden and raw.
“Mark…” you whispered his name again, your voice a mix of need and surrender, your hips subtly arching toward him, silently begging for more.
His only answer was a soft hum that sent a gentle vibration through you, causing a soft whimper to escape your lips. His teeth gently tugged at your panties, pulling them down slowly, all while his gaze remained locked on yours.
Needless to say, you were already dripping, and that sight made his heart swell with pride. No matter how many times he found himself in this position, the view of you laid out before him always felt as thrilling as the first time. His gaze lingered for a moment, taking in every detail before he leaned in, planting a soft kiss on your clit.
The gentle press of his lips against your sensitive spot sent a jolt of pleasure through your body, making you gasp softly. His tongue darted out, circling around the delicate bundle of nerves with a teasing precision that had your eyes fluttering shut and your head falling back against the pillow.
He watched your reaction, a smirk tugging at the corners of his lips, before sliding his tongue down, parting your slick folds and licking through your slit. His movements were slow, deliberate, savoring every taste as he explored you.
Another moan left your lips as he continued, the warmth of his mouth combined with the skillful flicks of his tongue driving you crazy. His hands gripped your thighs, holding you in place as he worked, his own excitement growing with every shudder and whimper he drew from you.
His tongue continued its journey, alternating between long, languid licks and quick, focused flicks over your clit, building you up slowly, savoring every moment of your pleasure.
Your fingers tangled in his hair, gently pulling as your hips moved instinctively against his mouth. The sensation of his tongue, combined with the heat pooling in your core, was overwhelming, and you could feel yourself getting closer with each stroke.
Mark glanced up, catching the blissed-out expression on your face, and it only spurred him on. He flattened his tongue, dragging it up slowly from your entrance to your clit, then wrapped his lips around the sensitive bud, sucking gently. The change in pressure had you gasping, your thighs trembling around his head.
“You taste so good," he murmured against your skin, the words sending a shiver down your spine. His hands now gripped your hips tighter, anchoring you as he continued to work his magic, bringing you closer and closer to the release you craved.
Your breaths came quicker, each exhale accompanied by a moan. "Mark... I'm so close," you whimpered, your voice strained with need.
He didn't let up, his tongue moving in perfect rhythm, drawing out every ounce of pleasure from you. One of his hands slipped down, his thumb finding your clit to rub in tandem with his tongue, sending you over the edge.
Your body tensed, a wave of ecstasy washing over you as you came undone beneath him. A cry of his name escaped your lips, your back arching as he continued to lap at you, helping you ride out the high.
As the tremors subsided, he pulled back slightly, pressing soft kisses along your inner thighs, his eyes filled with satisfaction and adoration. He crawled up to meet your gaze, brushing a stray hair from your face and leaning in to capture your lips in a slow, lingering kiss, letting you taste yourself on his tongue.
Your hands roamed down his back, feeling the tension in his muscles, your fingers slipping under his shirt, tugging at the fabric. Mark's breath hitched slightly, the desire in his eyes deepening as he pulled back just enough to shed his shirt, revealing his bare chest. You ran your hands over his skin, savoring the warmth beneath your fingertips as he leaned down, capturing your lips again.
He shifted, pressing himself against you, and you could feel the hard outline of his arousal through his pants. Your hand moved between you, palming him gently, eliciting a soft groan from his lips, your touch becoming more intended as you began to unbutton his pants, sliding them down his hips.
He kicked them off, his body pressing back into yours as you wrapped your legs around his waist, pulling him closer. Mark positioned himself, his forehead resting against yours as he slowly pushed into you, the both of you releasing a simultaneous sigh of relief.
“You feel so good," he whispered, his hands cradling your face as he kissed you deeply. Mark's movements remained gentle, each thrust slow and purposeful, as if he wanted to memorize every sensation, every reaction from you. The room was filled with soft sighs and the quiet rustle of sheets as you clung to him.
His pace quickened slightly, the friction building a delicious tension between you both. You arched into him, your hands threading through his hair as you whispered, "I'm close again.” The sensitivity from your previous climax heightened every sensation, making your body tremble beneath him.
Mark's forehead pressed against yours, his eyes locking with yours as he adjusted his angle slightly, hitting the perfect spot that had you gasping, your nails digging into his shoulders. "Let go for me, love" he coaxed, his voice soothing, full of love.
With his encouragement, you felt the wave of pleasure cresting again, your body tensing as you cried out his name. The intensity of your release pulled him closer to the edge, and with a few more thrusts, he followed. A groan escaped his lips as he pulled out, spilling himself onto your belly, the warmth of his release spreading between you as he shuddered, his breath ragged.
Mark collapsed gently beside you, his breathing ragged as he pulled you into his arms, holding you close. The warmth of his body against yours was comforting, and the soft rise and fall of his chest helped calm your racing heart.
For a while, you both stayed like that, in silence, just holding each other, the only sound in the room was the soft rhythm of your breaths, gradually returning to normal. The warmth of his body pressed against yours was comforting, and neither of you felt the need to break the tranquility of the moment.
Mark kissed the top of your head and was about to speak when a loud thud echoed from the wall of the bedroom. His brows furrowed in confusion as he looked at you, his expression a mix of curiosity and concern and you couldn't help but burst into laughter, the sound filling the room.
"I guess we made the neighbor mad again."

in which… bsf!jj runs to you when him and his dad get into another physical fight. (not proofread)
warnings: angst, fluff, mentions of blood, mentions of bruises, mentions of cuts, mentions of fighting
________________________________________
“mama.. please pick up the phone i need you.. please princess i need you..!” jj screamed through the phone. you finally picked up his frantic calls with your sleepy voice. “hi jayj, what’s up?”
you could hear his dad screaming at him and things breaking in the background. you instantly shot up, realizing what the call might be for. you put some sweatpants on with a random shirt you took from jj’s closet. “jj? listen to me what’s going on?”
he whimpered through the phone call. “m-my dad.. fuck baby my dad.. it’s bad- it’s bad this time.. please- come get me?” you didn’t need to be told twice. you snuck out your window and walked to jj’s house. “stay on the phone okay? i’m coming.”
“okay..” he said with a shaking voice. “how about we talk about something different yeah? what do you want for dinner tonight?”
you could tell he was forcing his voice to not come out shaking. “s-some of that soup shit you make when your sick, i want something warm..” thank goodness you had the things to cook that for him tonight. “your wish is my command love bug. pot roast it is!”
“that’s what it’s called?” he asked. “yeah.”
“how far are you?”
“not far, about two minutes.”
“you walk really fast.” you giggled. “you said you needed me, why wouldn’t i be fast?”
“you’re the best thing that has ever happened to me- not that i think of you as an object but-“ you cut him off. “i know what you mean jj and it’s fine, don’t worry about it.”
“can you- clean me up? like the cuts and shit? i don’t wanna bleed all over your room.”
“course i can, i was gonna do that anyway. we can shower together too.”
“fuck yeah, exactly what i need… can i spend the night?” jj asked, even though he knew the answer to that question. “you were spending the night anyway jayj. now come outside, i’m here.” you say. “don’t hang up til you see me please?” jj pleaded. “alright love.”
time skip…
“jeez jj.. this is bad- what happened?” i said as i wiped all the blood that was smeared on his face. i stripped him naked as he spoke. “he found out about the money, that i spent on that dumbass hot tub. we argued, got physical and that deadbeat beat my fuckin’ brains in.”
“next time ask me for money, i don’t care about the price or nothing, i don’t want you to get hurt like this anymore okay?” he nodded as you cleaned his face. “yes ma’am. will you still get in the shower with me?”
“yeah i will. cmon.”
as we got in the shower, i let jj cry into my neck as i wash off the blood that stained his beautiful body. he was so fragile. the best friend that never deserved to get hurt. the best friend that would protect you with his life and you’d do everything to protect him from his pain.
“fuck.. it hurts so much… he almost killed me- i almost killed him…”
“shhh, none of that now okay? let’s get you into bed, and i’ll bring you a bowl of pot roast. turn the tv on and watch something.” he nodded and stepped out the shower. i gave him some clothes that he usually leaves over just in case something like this happens.
“here you go, i’ll be right back.” he got up to give me a quick kiss to my lips. “what was that for?” i asked surprised, but not complaining- not at all whatsoever. “just want to, i dunno thank you for coming to get me and taking care of me.. i love you for this.”
“no need to thank me, and i love you too.” you walk out the room with two bowls, you come back up to your room and hand him a bowl. “here you go! i have some water up here for us too.”
he cuddled into your chest as you both ate. once he devoured his bowl, you set it down on the dresser and look at him, really look at your best friend, he was so precious, like an angel.
“can i kiss you?” he asked softly. “yeah you can.” with that, we shared a deep passionate kiss. “i love you mama- i love you so fuckin’ much..” you both finally break the kiss. “i love you too, cmon lay down.” he laid down on your chest, rubbing your stomach until you also fell asleep. “goodnight jayj.”
“goodnight my beautiful best friend.”

Hey is there any way you could do the reader takes on clients in order to protect Finnick? Like she goes behind his back and begs Snow until she can make everything stop for Finnick and then doesn’t tell him but eventually he finds out.
oh i am CONVINCED that finnick girlies THRIVE off of angst
AND ITS MY JOB TO SUPPLY YOU GUYS SOOOOO
My Angel
HEAVY content warnings: trafficking of victors, implied S/A, cheating accusations, angst
part one. | part two. (not necessary to read, but if you would like some background i would definitely suggest reading these first)
Finnick had noticed that something was off about you. For the past few weeks you'd been more skittish and distant.
At night when you both went to bed, he noticed that you no longer wanted to be held in his arms. In the mornings, instead of waking up next to him with a smile, you woke up with your back facing him, hiding a look of dread on your face. You no longer wanted to to go to the market or to the beach with him, only wanting to go alone.
You refused any sort of intimacy. Anytime he would go to hug you, kiss you, anything, you would flinch. Even with the lightest brush of a hand, you would flinch.
Your trips to the Capitol were more frequent and longer now too, but he didn't worry about that too much because he would always see pictures of you out and about, at interviews, photoshoots— the standard for any Victor.
You were both in the living room, you sitting in your arm chair, reading a book while he sat on the couch, fiddling around with a piece of rope. Silence filled the room.
He had offered for you both to go take a walk on the beach to watch the sunset, but you declined saying you were "tired and wanted to just stay inside for the night."
He watched as you read, he watched all your movements and tried to get a read of your emotions. Then he saw something strange.
But before he could get a better look, you stood up and made your way to the kitchen.
Finnick’s eyes followed you across the room, his gut twisting as his gaze laned on the small, barely-there mark on the side of your neck, he knew he hadn’t left a mark, with the way you'd been acting for the past week he'd be lucky if you let him hug you without you flinching. It was dark and a little red. A hickey. The sight of it made his heart clenched painfully in his chest.
Were you seeing someone else? Were you disgusted at what he told you that you felt the need to be with someone else?
Did you not love him anymore?
"Angel?" He called out softly, but you didn’t turn around. His voice cracked slightly as he repeated it again, louder this time, and you froze.
You turned, realizing what he may have seen, but it was too late. He had already seen it.
"Where did that mark come from?" Finnick’s voice was so quiet it was almost a whisper, but it carried the sharpness of someone who’d just realized something they weren’t ready to face. He couldn’t stop himself from stepping toward you, his feet carrying him across the room like an instinct.
You reached for the collar of your sweater to pull it higher, to hide it. “It’s nothing,” you mumbled.
"It's not nothing Angel."
You didn't know what to say, you didn't want to tell him the truth. "I- I hurt myself while I was swimming a few days ago."
He looked at you with a look of skepitcism, "No, don't lie to me."
Silence filled the room once more as you looked away from him. His mind was spiraling as a feeling of dread consumed him.
"Have you been cheating on me?"
Your head immediately shot back up. "W-What?"
Finnick took a deep breath. "Have you been cheating on me?" he says, his voice firm, his heart aching as he said it.
You shook your head, "No- No Finnick I-I'm not cheating on you-"
"Then where did the mark come from?" he says, his voice slightly raised.
You stayed quiet, something inside you was screaming to tell him the truth, but you just couldn't bring yourself to.
"Please angel. Please tell me you haven't been seeing someone else."
"Finnick please- it's not what you think-"
"Then what is it?! You've shut me out! I need you to talk to me! You've been so distant these past few weeks, you don't want to go anywhere with me, you don't want me to hold you anymore, you haven't even said 'I love you' to me in weeks!" he shouts.
His heart was breaking, if there was even the slightest chance that you were cheating, he didn't want to believe it.
"Angel. Baby. Please talk to me." he says in a desperate tone as he walks towards you, holding you in his arms.
You hesitate and take a shaky deep breath in, tears fill your eyes. "I-It's Snow" you whisper.
Finnick instantly feels a wave of fear wash over him. "Angel, what are you talking about?"
You close your eyes, shaking your head, a weak sob escaping as cling onto his arms, tears rolling down your cheeks.
He quickly cups your face in his hand, "Please talk to me angel, please." he says in a soothing tone, wiping your tears away with his thumb.
"I-I made a deal with Snow...that if I take on the extra clients you took on for me...you wouldn't have to deal with them anymore" you say as you burst into tears, holding tightly onto Finnick.
Finnick stood still, tears filled his eyes, his heart felt like it was breaking even more. Suddenly, everything made sense, why you flinched at his touches, why you distanced yourself from him. It all made sense.
He was quick to wrap you fully in his arms, resting his chin on the top of your head.
"Angel...why didn't you tell me. I would've been there for you."
You cling onto his shirt and cry, "I-I didn't want to be a burden...this was my deal with Snow.."
His heart just kept breaking. You, a burden? Never.
"My angel...you could never be a burden. Never." he says in a gentle tone as he kisses the top of your forehead.
He holds you close to his chest, letting you cry it all out.
"I-I hate it so much Finny- they hurt me- t-they treat me like I-I'm a toy. They laugh when I cry- they enjoy it."
Finnick’s world shattered at your words, he could your body shaking with sobs. “I know, Angel,” he whispered, his own tears slipping down his face as he kissed your forehead, his fingers tangling in your hair as he held you closer “I know."
“I’m sorry,” you whispered, voice muffled against his chest.
“Don’t apologize, it's not your fault angel,” Finnick murmured, kissing the top of your head. "Never think it's your fault."
For the first time in weeks, you finally felt like you could breathe again, wrapped in his arms, finally feeling the comfort you longed for. And for the rest of the night you would stay in his arms as he whispered endless comforting words to you.

Just thinking about Marlene, James & Sirius working out some sort of system for reserving the astronomy tower for dates. Every Saturday they are like doing rock paper scissors during morning quidditch practice and arguing over who needs it more that particular evening.
They usually work it out pretty well until one Saturday Remus decides he’s going to surprise Sirius with a picnic. He sets it up while Sirius is at practice and really goes all out. Even finding a way to sneak into the kitchen and grab them dessert to eat while they watch the stars. He spends an hour setting up blankets and pillows and enchanting the room to have some music playing softly in the background. Once it’s perfect he heads back to Gryffindor tower to pick up Sirius and Prong’s invisibility cloak.
On his way back he doesn’t think anything of bumping into Dorcas and Marlene. They are in the stands by the quidditch pitch together even though it’s close to curfew.
“She’s got me running around the whole bloody castle because of some muggle romance book she found,” Marlene yells down to him with a fond eye roll. “Apparently it’s called a scavenger hunt.”
Dorcas just giggles softly at her and then cuts a look over to Remus. “Heaven forbid I try to do anything romantic once in a while.”
Remus throws her a sympathetic look, “Cheers Meadows! I am in the midst of a grand gesture of my own”
They wish him luck as he makes his way back to his dorm. Once he convinces Sirius to sneak out with him (he really takes very little convincing) he knows that his plan is going to work out perfectly.
That is until he walks up the stairs to the tower and finds Regulus Black licking chocolate frosting off James’ fingers tips.
Remus drops his hands from where he’s covering Sirius’ eyes and looks at James in disbelief.
“What the fuck Padfoot? I did the flying drills the fastest today. We agreed I was taking the tower tonight!” James says, glaring daggers at Sirius and Remus.
“Flying drills? What?” Remus is about to lose it. “You didn’t see the fully set up picnic and think that maybe you should find somewhere else to snog?”
“You didn’t even set this up?” Regulus looks half way between complete exasperation and genuine confusion.
James flushes immediately. “Well no… not exactly. I mostly brought you here to snog, the cake was just a nice surprise.” James and Regulus look at each other like they’re both lost in the memory of the frosting from a few moments ago.
“Yes, yes a wonderful surprise. Except it was my surprise for Sirius!” Remus hears his own voice raising like he’s about to start yelling. “Now Prongs, take your boyfriend and get the hell out of my date!”
“No Moony, I won this place today fair and square this morning, ask Pads.” They both look over to where Sirius is standing by one of the windows, eyes blown wide and laughing at whatever he’s watching approach the tower.
“We’ve got more incoming.” Sirius says. Before they can even ask what he means, Marlene and Dorcas come tumbling around the corner.
“Is this just a scavenger hunt of all the places we’ve shagged? Baby, you’re insane if—“ Marlene cuts herself off when she sees everyone else in the room.
She makes eye contact with James and immediately says, “Oh shit Potts I totally forgot you had the place reserved tonight.”
Now Dorcas, Remus, and Regulus have a weekly game of wizard’s chess to determine who gets the astronomy tower on Saturday nights.
everyone keeps having these moments at the top of the astronomy tower how are none of them bumping into each other

Don't worry, your dreams are like little stories for us so they are not boring or anything. I also have dreams like that often, literally plot and characters, background info about the world and all - so it's fun to know that other people experience it too (bc honestly it's fun to later think about it or even make it into a story)
I’m glad to hear that! They are fun because it’s like getting a story draft for free. All you have to do is connect the dots and improve upon what you already have.
A drawback is the character appearances and stuff can be a little cliche so I like to change them up a bit (didn’t do it this tome tho I just wanted to get what i had in my head onto the canvas)
I also saw your ouran high school host club comment about him and I’d like to say I hate you for cursing me with that realization. I’ll have you know my boy has white hair so he looks less like the twins🫵

I Don't Care!: Scarabia
Heartslabyul - Savanaclaw - Octavinelle - Pomfiore - Ignihyde - Diasomnia
Romantic Jealousy: Based on real or imagined threats to a romantic relationship. There could be a history of infidelity or flirtations; however, this could also be solely based on insecurities. Sexual/Suspicious Jealousy: Based on fears that a partner may have cheated or be engaged in inappropriate communication.
Does he get jealous?
Kalim Al-Asim
Kalim got along with everyone, he has no reason to be jealous of anyone! But when he sees how well you get along with Riddle, he starts to wonder...
Kalim crossed his arms over his chest, his bracelets jingled softly. His neck craned as he peered around the corner with garnet eyes soaking in the sight in front of him. He had invited you over for one of his weekend parties. He had also invited some of Heartslabyul for the fun of it. There were no dorm politics between them, and Riddle seemed happy to accept the invitation when Kalim mentioned you would be there. Kalim assumed it was because the two of you are friends.
And now, the Housewarden of Scarabia was hiding behind a corner watching Riddle interact with you. Appearing much more energetic now that Kalim wasn't visible. A strange sensation filled his chest. He could not recall any memory where he felt such an intense and discomforting emotion. It was foreign to him in the worst way possible. You were sitting on your knees surrounded by floor pillows with Riddle right beside you. Your legs just barely touching as he smiled sweetly. A pale flush on his cheeks as you talked and laughed.
The expression he wore had a familiar admiration. The way Riddle looked at you was the way that Kalim looked at you. The Housewarden of Scarabia turned away from the view and frowned. His bracelets jingling as he lowered his arms to his sides and rested his back against the wall. This is the part where he would rush out and say something. Shaking away whatever thoughts lingered by smiling and laughing with the two of them.
He couldn’t bring himself to do it. Kalim peered around the corner again. Riddle had gotten to his feet, giving you a small wave as he walked in the direction of the kitchen. Kalim emerged and made his way towards you, pushing a large smile onto his face. He wouldn’t blame you if you decided that Riddle was your type. He was extremely smart and elegant. Neat and tidy with a background that would offer you a secure future.
Kalim was at constant risk of assassination. He would never be able to give you the life that he claimed he could. If you chose Riddle, you had the chance to indulge in peaceful garden tea parties. To read books and admire the flowers. Riddle must know that too. That was why he had taken interest in you. Kalim exhaled what was left of his frustrations and pushed a smile onto his face. He left his hidden corner, and made his way over to you laughing and waving.
He just wants you to be happy. Even if that meant letting someone else have you.
Jamil Viper
Jamil didn't have time for jealousy. Besides if it’s someone like Rook getting close then he has nothing to fear. Right..?
Jamil’s eyes narrowed as he dribbled the ball from his left hand back to his right. You were sitting on the bleachers, staying after school with him as he practiced with the rest of the team. But there was an extra face joining you. Rook had seated himself next to you, smiling and looking at whatever you were showing him on your phone. Jamil didn’t remember Rook taking an interest in the sport, or you.
This was news to him.
Jamil stared a little longer before Ace called out to him. Waving and bouncing on his toes, careful not to crease his shoes as Jamil rolled his eyes and made his way over. Practice seemed to drone on. And Jamil only felt himself becoming more and more on edge. Every glance he took towards you and Rook made his eyebrow twitch. It forced the corners of his mouth into a scowl. He could even feel a throb in his temple.
It was nearing the end of practice. The team had split in half to start a scrimmage match. But Jamil wasn’t as focused as he should be. Instead his charcoal eyes kept lingering towards the bleachers. He watched with a frown as Rook showed you a little magic trick. He had made a little rabbit dance on the bleachers using his magic pen and a folded up piece of paper.
Corny. Lame. And so many other words Jamil could spit out as he watched. He didn’t like it. He didn’t like how he lacked the ability to spend time with you in the first place. He didn’t like how Rook just woke up and decided he wanted to see you out of every other day on his calendar. Something came over him. It wasn’t intentional, not towards Ace.
Maybe the redhead was just too close in that moment. But Jamil felt the brush of their sweaty arms too close for comfort as he and Rook locked eyes. When the blond’s soft smile became a smirk, Jamil body checked Ace to the ground. And with balled fists, he began to make his way off the court. The team was in a frenzy, except Floyd. Who was happy to cheer on Jamil regardless of if it was fists, or words first.

Chapter 8: unspoken but understood
Rating: General Audiences
Warning: none
Paring: Paige Bueckers x !photographer fem reader
Fandom: Women's basketball
Summary: everyone see it, everyone knows it... you're just not resfry to admit it
Welcome to the chapter 8 of Through The Lens. I hope you all enjoy and there is more to come...stay tuned my loveies!! 🏀💕📸
The time at home had been everything I needed—warm hugs from Granny, my mom’s home-cooked meals, and the simple comfort of being surrounded by family. It also gave me the chance to step back and see the bigger picture. My final project wasn’t just about basketball anymore; it was about capturing life, connections, and the emotions that come with them.
For the past week, I’d been documenting everything on my personal camera. From my morning walks through the fields to late-night chats with Granny, I wanted to remember it all. Paige had been right by my side, blending seamlessly into my family. It was surprising how easily she fit in, like she was always meant to be there.
One evening, I was in the kitchen baking peach cobbler with Granny. She insisted I follow her exact recipe, even though I’d made it a dozen times before.
“Now, don’t you dare skimp on the cinnamon,” she scolded, wagging a finger at me.
“Yes, ma’am,” I replied with a grin.
The next day, my mom organized a BBQ, and the whole family came over. My younger cousins adored Paige, dragging her into games of tag and basketball in the driveway.
“Paige! Paige! Show us your moves!” my cousin Jackson, an aspiring point guard, begged.
Paige laughed and spun the ball on her finger. “Alright, but only if y’all promise not to dunk on me later.”
The kids screamed in delight as Paige ran drills with them, pretending to stumble whenever they “crossed” her over. Watching her interact with my family made my chest feel tight in the best way.
That night, Granny and I sat on the porch swing, the crickets chirping softly in the background.
“You’ve got a good one there,” she said, nodding toward the house where Paige was laughing with my mom.
“She’s not mine, Granny,” I said, my voice barely above a whisper.
Granny gave me a knowing look. “Not yet, maybe. But the way she looks at you, and the way you talk about her? It’s only a matter of time.”
I bit my lip, unsure how to respond.
Granny patted my hand. “Don’t let fear keep you from happiness, baby. You deserve it.”
Paige’s POV
As Y/N and Granny talked on the porch, I found myself in the kitchen with her mom, helping clean up after the BBQ.
“So, what’s Y/N’s favorite thing to do on a night out?” I asked, trying to sound casual.
Her mom raised an eyebrow. “Planning something, are we?”
“Maybe,” I said with a smirk.
Her mom’s face softened. “She loves sunsets, anything strawberry-flavored, and quiet places where she can think. But honestly, she’ll love anything you do, as long as it’s with her. Also something about the water calms her. And if you want to impress her, take her to special place that no one knows about.”
I nodded, filing the information away. “Thanks, Mrs. Y/L/N.”
“Call me Mom,” she said with a smile.
I smiled, filing away the information. “Thank you.”
“Just take care of her,” she said, her tone serious now. “She’s been through a lot, and she deserves someone who will treat her right.”
“I will, momma” I promised.
Y/n Pov
The week flew by, and soon it was time to head back to Connecticut. At the airport, Paige noticed me shivering and draped her UConn warm-up jacket over my shoulders.
“You didn’t pack warm clothes, did you?” she teased.
“I didn’t think I’d need them,” I replied, clutching the jacket tightly.
As we walked through the terminal, I noticed a few fans snapping pictures. By the time we boarded the plane, Twitter was already buzzing.
At the next practice, Coach Geno wasted no time teasing us.
“Look at the lovebirds, back from their honeymoon,” he said with a grin.
“Not you too, Coach,” I groaned, my cheeks heating up.
Paige just laughed, nudging me with her elbow. “You know they won’t let this go, right?”
“I know,” I muttered.
The teasing didn’t stop there. During warm-ups at the next game, Paige convinced me to let her work the camera.
“Just point and shoot,” I said, handing it to her.
“You act like I’ve never held a camera before,” she said, rolling her eyes.
She ended up taking surprisingly good shots, though she couldn’t resist turning the camera on me a few times.
“Smile, Y/N!” she called, snapping a photo of me blushing.
After the game, a reporter asked Paige about our relationship during a post-game interview.
“Paige, there have been rumors about you and Y/N. Care to comment?”
Paige’s smile didn’t falter, but I could see the tension in her jaw. “Y/N’s a good friend and an incredible photographer. That’s all there is to it.”
The answer stung, but I understood why she said it.
Later that night, as we reviewed footage together, Paige leaned closer and whispered, “I didn’t mean it like that.”
“I know,” I said, my voice soft.
The truth hung between us, unspoken but understood.

Enhypen Heeseung Oneshot
pairing : boyfriend!heeseung x female!reader
pov : you're on your period and your boyfriend takes care of you
warning : period talk (mentions of menstrual cramps and related discomfort)
now playing : my love mine all mine by mitski (to truly immerse yourself in the mood of this oneshot, i highly recommend listening to this song as you read. its gentle melody perfectly capture the comforting vibe of a rainy day, the kind that wraps around you like a warm blanket when the world outside feels gray and distant)

the rain hammered against the window, relentless and loud. you lay curled up on your bed, clutching a heating pad to your stomach as sharp cramps rippled through your body. a rom-com drama was playing on television but you didn't really pay attention to it. you weren’t even sure what the plot was anymore. your focus was on the persistent ache in your abdomen.
you hadn’t moved much since dragging yourself out of bed to grab a blanket and even that had felt like a monumental effort.
the snacks you had optimistically gathered earlier sat untouched on your bedside table. the thought of eating anything made your stomach churn yet the nagging hunger didn’t help your mood. you pulled the blanket tighter around yourself, cocooning in its warmth as you winced through another wave of cramps.
you grabbed the remote, mindlessly flipping through the endless sea of rom-coms on the television. none of them seemed appealing. too cheesy. too dramatic. too happy. nothing really matched your mood. you settled on one you vaguely remembered liking a few years ago, letting it play more as background noise than a real distraction.
the rain grew heavier and with it came the occasional clap of thunder. you glanced at the window, watching rivulets of water snake down the glass in uneven patterns. a part of you found it oddly mesmerizing, the rhythmic tapping and swirling motions almost hypnotic. but then another cramp struck, pulling you out of your thoughts and back into your discomfort.
you sighed heavily, reaching for your phone to check the time. mid-afternoon. it felt like the day had stretched on forever and yet you couldn’t recall doing anything remotely productive. a quick glance at your notifications showed nothing of interest. no messages, no updates, no distractions. just the empty silence of a dreary day.
groaning softly, you set your phone down and shifted in bed, trying to find a more comfortable position. the heating pad slipped out of place and you fumbled to readjust it, muttering a curse under your breath. even small movements felt like a chore. you closed your eyes, willing yourself to drift off but the cramps kept you from finding any real rest.
another rumble of thunder echoed outside and the lights flickered briefly. you stared at the ceiling, half-hoping the power wouldn’t go out. the last thing you needed was to be left in the dark with nothing but your cramps and the rain for company.
“ugh” you groaned, burying your face in your pillow. the sound was muffled but it felt cathartic to let out even a small bit of frustration. you hated feeling this way, trapped in your own body, unable to shake the lethargy and discomfort. it wasn’t fair. none of it was.
it felt like your body was waging a war against you and there was nothing you could do but endure it.
with a shaky breath, you leaned back against the pillows, willing yourself to stay calm. it wasn’t the first time you’d felt this way and it wouldn’t be the last. but knowing that didn’t make it any easier.
your eyes were half-closed as the movie played on. suddenly, you heard a soft knock at your door.
you forced yourself to sit up, wincing at the effort and called out weakly “who is it?”
the door creaked open and there he was. your boyfriend, heeseung. he stood in the doorway, his hair slightly damp from the rain, a sheepish smile on his face. in his arms, he carried a large bag that looked stuffed to the brim. the sight of him standing there sent a jolt of surprise through you.
“hey” he said softly, stepping inside and closing the door behind him. “i’m sorry i’m late. i should’ve come earlier”
you blinked at him, still processing the fact that he was here. “heeseung? what are you doing here?”
he set the bag down on your desk and turned to you. “you didn’t think i’d leave you to suffer through this alone, did you?” he asked. “i brought some things to help you feel better”
before you could respond, he was already pulling items out of the bag, one by one. first, he held up a pair of thick, fuzzy socks. “for your feet” he said, kneeling by the bed. “i know it’s freezing today” he gently lifted the blanket and reached for your feet, slipping the socks on with careful hands. the warmth was immediate and you couldn’t help but let out a small sigh of relief.
next, he pulled out a thermos. “your favorite tea” he announced, unscrewing the lid and pouring some into the cap. the fragrant aroma wafted up and he handed it to you with a smile. “it should help with the cramps”
you accepted the tea gratefully, the warmth of the cup seeping into your hands. “how did you…?” you began but he cut you off with a knowing look.
“i pay attention” he said simply as though it were the most obvious thing in the world.
from the bag came your favorite takeout, still warm and smelling absolutely heavenly. he set it down on your bedside table and handed you a pair of chopsticks. “i know you probably haven’t eaten much today” he said. “and no, i’m not taking no for an answer”
you couldn’t help but laugh softly at his determination. heeseung always had a way of making you feel cared for even in your worst moments. you picked at the food tentatively and the first bite was like a warm hug for your soul. he watched you with a satisfied smile before diving back into his bag of surprises.
“ice cream and chocolate” he said, holding them up triumphantly. “for dessert of course” he placed them in your mini-fridge for later, knowing you’d want them when you were ready. then he pulled out a small box of pain relief patches and waved them at you. “these are supposed to help with cramps too. let me know if you want to use one, okay?”
you nodded, feeling a lump form in your throat. his thoughtfulness was overwhelming and you weren’t sure if it was the hormones or just how much you appreciated him but tears pricked at the corners of your eyes.
“and last but not least” he said, reaching into the bag with a dramatic flourish “a new plushie. because it reminded me of you”
he pulled out an adorable stuffed animal, its soft fur and big eyes making you smile. “it’s cute” you murmured, hugging it to your chest. “thank you, heeseung”
“i’m not done yet” he said with a grin, producing a book from the bag. “i remembered you mentioning this one. thought it might help take your mind off things”
you stared at the book in his hands, your heart swelling. it was the exact one you’d been eyeing for weeks but hadn’t gotten around to buying. heeseung really did pay attention.
“you didn’t have to do all this, you know” you said. “but i… i’m so glad you did”
he sat down on the edge of the bed, reaching out to brush a strand of hair from your face. “you don’t have to thank me” he said softly. “i just want to make sure you’re okay. that's my responsibility”
heeseung’s presence had turned what had been a miserable day into something entirely different, a haven of comfort and care. the ache in your abdomen still there but with him beside you, it felt more manageable as though his warmth somehow dulled the edges of the pain.
he had made himself comfortable beside you on the bed with his arms wrapped around you, his fingers gently tracing random patterns on your back, trying to calm you down.
“feeling any better?” he asked softly.
you nodded slightly, the corners of your lips tugging into a faint smile. “a little” you admitted. “having you here helps. a lot”
his smile widened at your words, the soft curve of his lips filled with affection. “good” he said simply. “that’s all i wanted”
for a while, the two of you just sat there, the silence between you comfortable. his fingers continued their gentle pattern and every now and then, he would adjust the blanket to make sure you were completely covered and warm.
“you know” he said after a while, his voice breaking the quiet. “i was really worried about you earlier. i hate thinking of you feeling like this and me not being there to help”
you looked at him, the worried look on his face made your chest ache. “i’m okay now” you said softly. “you being here makes everything better”
his hand slid down to intertwine with yours, his fingers warm against your own. “i mean it” he continued. “if there’s ever anything you need, you just have to tell me. i’ll drop everything and come running”
you squeezed his hand gently. “i know, heeseung. you’re amazing”
his cheeks flushed faintly at your words and he let out a small laugh, shaking his head. “i don’t know about amazing” he murmured “but i’ll take it if it makes you smile”
he shifted closer to you so you would feel warmer. his arms tightened around you, holding you close and the steady beat of his heart against your ear became your new rhythm. you sank into him, your body melting into his warmth and let out a contented sigh.
“do you remember that time we got caught in the rain?” he asked suddenly, his voice rumbling softly in his chest. “when we didn’t have an umbrella and ended up sprinting to that tiny café?”
you smiled against him. “and we were both soaked to the bone” you added. “the owner gave us towels because she felt bad for us”
“and you ordered hot chocolate” he said, chuckling. “but i remember you didn’t even finish it because you kept laughing at how ridiculous we looked”
“we did look ridiculous” you said, your voice muffled against his chest. “but it was fun”
“it was” he agreed. “even when things aren’t perfect, i… i don’t mind as long as i’m with you”
your heart swelled at his words and you felt a tear slip down your cheek, not from sadness but from the overwhelming feeling of being so deeply cared for. you didn’t say anything, simply tightened your hold around him, hoping he could feel just how much he meant to you.
he must have noticed because he pulled back slightly, tilting your chin up to look at him. “hey” he said softly, his thumb brushing away the tear. “no crying, okay?”
you nodded, sniffling slightly but smiling up at him. “okay”
he pressed a quick kiss to your forehead, the gesture so tender it made your heart flutter. “that’s better” he said with a grin. “now, do you want me to keep talking or do you want me to read the book for you?”
“talking” you murmured, your voice already heavy with drowsiness. “i like listening to you”
and so he did. he spoke about everything and nothing, his voice weaving stories and memories together in a way that felt like a lullaby. his hand found its way back to yours, his thumb stroking gently over your knuckles as he talked.
eventually, your eyelids grew heavier and heavier and you felt yourself slipping into sleep. the last thing you remembered was the sound of his gentle voice and the warmth of his arms around you.
when you were finally lost to the world, he looked down at you, a fond smile spreading across his face. he brushed a stray strand of hair from your forehead, leaning down to press one last kiss there. “sleep well, my love. i love you so much”

Moments Between Laps
Genre: Fluff, Comfort
Warnings: Slight mention of anxiety, swearing.
Plot: After a tough qualifying session, Oscar finds comfort in your presence as he navigates the pressures of racing.
---
The paddock buzzed with a nervous energy as Oscar made his way back to the McLaren garage. His jaw was tight, frustration radiating off him in waves after finishing P8 in qualifying. Not terrible, but not what he wanted either.
You were waiting in the motorhome, scrolling mindlessly through your phone, trying to distract yourself. You knew how much this session meant to him, and the uncertainty of his mood kept your nerves on edge.
The sound of the door clicking open made you look up, your eyes meeting his immediately.
“Hey,” you greeted softly, setting your phone down on the table.
“Hey,” he replied, voice low, exhaustion evident. He didn’t bother with his usual playful banter, which told you everything you needed to know about how he was feeling.
He tossed his cap onto the couch and sighed, running a hand through his hair as he sat down beside you. The faint smell of rubber and sweat clung to him, but you didn’t care. You shifted closer, resting a gentle hand on his arm.
“You did well, Oscar,” you murmured, your voice steady but kind.
“P8 isn’t well,” he muttered, leaning back against the couch, his head lolling against the cushion. “I should’ve pushed harder in Sector 2. I just…” He trailed off, closing his eyes.
“You’re too hard on yourself,” you whispered, shifting to tuck your legs beneath you. “Eighth is solid. You’ll make up places tomorrow. You always do.”
He opened his eyes, turning his head to look at you. His expression softened slightly, the tension in his jaw easing as he met your gaze. “How do you always know what to say?”
You shrugged, a small smile tugging at your lips. “I don’t. I just believe in you.”
For a moment, he didn’t respond. Then, without warning, he pulled you into his chest, wrapping his arms around you tightly. It wasn’t his usual playful hug—this one was heavy with unspoken gratitude and the weight of the day.
“Thanks,” he murmured into your hair, his voice barely audible.
You stayed like that, wrapped up in each other, the noise of the paddock fading into the background. For Oscar, you were his moment of calm in the chaos, and for you, he was everything you didn’t know you needed.
Tomorrow would come with its own challenges, but for now, this moment was enough.
---
A/N
Sometimes, even the people we see as calm and composed need a moment to breathe. This little one-shot is a reminder that being there for someone—just listening and offering comfort—can mean the world. You’re someone’s safe space, and that’s such a beautiful thing. 💕

KISSING YOU IN MY MIND
Pairings: Eddie Munson x Fem! Summary: after your date with Eddie, it gets a little awkward between you. Warnings: mention of drugs
Here is the actual part 2!
Series masterlist here!
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───
you kicked a rock as you walked on the side of the road.
your backpack heavier than when you left home with it. it's probably just because you're tied from walking, though
you've been walking for what seems like forever when you hear a car drive slowly behind you.
you kicked the rock again and it tumbled off your path. not bothered to get it back, your turned around when you saw the corner stop beside you.
the window sketchily rolls down and your met with a certain smile that you haven't seen in a while.
"where ya going?" he asked, looking around
"where do you think?" you rolled your eyes.
"well i was gonna offer you a ride but after that comment" he shrugged, pressing on the gas and driving off slowly
you waited a second before catching up to him, making him smirk with his eyes still on the road
without looking over he leaned to the passenger door and opened it.
you got in and shut the door, sighing as you put your bag by your feet.
he started driving, turning down his music.
"so. how come you're walkin' to school?" he asked, looking over at you
"well I'm not walking now, am i?" you question, taking your waterbottle out and drinking a much-needed sip.
you swallowed the cold water and hummed
"I missed the bus" you answered, relaxing in the seat
You lean back against the seat, the cool air from the cracked window swirling in a lazy circle around you. The quiet hum of the engine fills the space, but neither of you seems to know what to say. You can feel the tension in the air thick and unspoken, and it’s like the weight of everything that’s not being said is pressing in on you both.
"so.. haven't seen you all week..ya'avoiding me again?" he asked in a half joking way- that much you could tell by the playful smile of his face, one that didn't quite reach his eyes.
and maybe you had been avoiding him, maybe you had been taking a different route, bearly going to your locker. but you just hadn't realised it until now
"no..no. i've just been...busy" you breathed lightly, playing with your fingers that sat in your lap
"busy" he repeated lowly. not fully believing you.
the old rundown van is the exact same as it was a week prior. the same rubbish littering the dirty floor. you didn't expect anything different. but it gave you a sort of comfort. now that you were familiar with his space. it gave you the sense that you knew him- really knew him.
The road stretches out before you, the occasional car passing by, the sound of tires on asphalt blending into the low volume of the radio that’s still playing in the background. He glances over at you, just a quick peek, like he’s making sure you’re still there. But it’s more than that—his eyes linger for a fraction of a second longer than usual, before he shifts his gaze back to the road.
You stare straight ahead, pretending you didn’t notice, but your pulse quickens anyway. There’s something about the way he doesn’t look at you anymore, but you feel like he’s aware of every little thing you’re doing, like your presence is too loud, too obvious, too close.
"Think we'll make it to class on time?" The question slips out before you can stop it, and as soon as you say it, you wish you could take it back. It sounds too light, too casual, like you’re trying to cover up the space between you that’s suddenly too big to ignore.
He looks over at you again, that same quick glance, but this time he doesn’t hide the small smile that tugs at the corner of his lips. It's a fleeting thing, barely there, but it makes your heart skip a beat. You want to smile back, but it feels wrong, like you’d be playing a part in something neither of you is ready to admit.
"we'll make it," he says, and the calmness in his voice catches you off guard. Like he knows the answer before you even asked it, like he knows you’ll be fine, even though everything feels a little off right now.
You nod, but the motion feels robotic, too forced, like you're just going through the motions without really thinking about it. There’s something about the way his hands move on the wheel, tapping in time with the rhythm of the song playing, that makes you wonder if he’s just as lost in his thoughts as you are. Or maybe he’s trying to ignore the fact that this, whatever this is, is just as awkward as it feels.
The silence falls back over you both. It’s not comfortable, but it’s not unbearable either. It’s just... there, like a quiet third presence in the car. You try to focus on the road, the trees passing by, anything that will distract you from the nagging feeling that you’re both avoiding something you can’t quite put your finger on.
When you get closer to the school, the moment shifts again. The buildings are visible now, looming ahead like a reminder that all this—this weird, half-formed connection between you two—has to end soon. The thought of it feels too sudden, too soon, and you catch yourself wishing the ride would last just a little longer.
He slows the car, turning into the parking lot, and parks a little too far from the entrance. You both sit there for a second, neither of you moving. It’s like you’re both waiting for the other to do something. You can’t tell if you’re waiting for him to say something or if you’re just stalling because you don’t know how to break the strange quiet that’s settled between you.
"Thanks for the ride," you finally manage, your voice sounding a little too stiff, like you’re trying to make it sound casual even though the words feel foreign on your tongue.
You glance at him, but his face is already turned forward, hands still resting on the wheel.
"No problem," he says, his tone almost too easy, like he’s slipping back into that comfortable version of himself that doesn’t have to acknowledge whatever this is between you two.
He opens the door, stepping out quickly, and you follow suit, grabbing your bag and slinging it over your shoulder.
You both stand there for a second, a few feet apart, but neither of you makes the move to walk toward the school. The silence is loud now, unbearable even, and you feel the tension between you, thick and tight in the air. Your eyes wander for a moment, trying to find something to focus on, but your gaze inevitably falls back to him.
He’s standing there, shoulders slightly hunched, like he’s unsure of what to do next. It’s almost like you’re both waiting for the other to break, to do something that might make this feel less strange, less heavy.
He glances at you, a quick look, before he shifts his weight and starts walking toward the building. You follow, the distance between you growing, but it feels like it’s not enough. Like there’s something unspoken that’s just hanging there, waiting for either of you to pick it up.
You reach the school entrance, and for a moment, you both stop, standing just outside the door. You’re not sure why, but you look over at him one last time, and there it is- the same look, the same hesitation in his eyes, like he’s caught between two things he doesn’t know how to handle. And then, just as quickly, he turns and steps inside, leaving you standing there for just a moment longer.
You walk in after him, but the weight of the unspoken words lingers in the air, and you can’t shake the feeling that something’s changed. Something’s shifted between the two of you, and you’re not sure what it is yet, but you’re certain it’s something that’s not going away anytime soon.
And the question you’re left with as you step into the crowded halls is simple: What would it feel like if you weren’t walking away from each other at all?
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───
Eddie couldn't get you out of his mind, ever since he dropped you off at your house after your 'date' and he realised he wanted to kiss you, you're all he can think about.
it's strange, he doesn't know what to think of it. he's never thought of any girl like that, the last time he thought about kissing a girl was when he was 14 watching Brooke Shields in the blue lagoon. but that ship sailed long ago.
but this was different, you were real, right in front of him, being nice.
he's felt weird all week. not knowing what to do. he's felt like you've made it obvious, laying it out on the table. you had so many options of teddies to choose from but you choose the one he has a tattoo of, that you've complimented?
but he was overthinking it, right? you had just thought it was the best choice? he would have chosen it before
he thought maybe things could be different now, that it would be better but after not seeing you for a week, and him so desperately wanting to, he thought maybe you didn't want the same
which makes sense. you told him all the date was, was pity, you felt bad for him.
that was it.
that's all it was, and all it will be.
but he doesn't like you, it was just the moment, he was tired, and you totally weren't looking at his lips when you left his van that night.
it didn't happen.
he needs to get a hold of himself
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───
"are you going to the party on saturday?" you voice echoed in his ears when you leaned against your locker, looking right at him as he rummaged through it, slyly making sure he had enough for the deal he's about to make in 10 or so minutes
he turned to you, a slight frown on covering his features.
he looked around to see a few people in the hallway and he opened his mouth to say something before stopping himself when he looked back at you
you didn't even try to make yourself look busy in your locker like you usually did. you weren't being quiet when talking to him like you usually did.
your eyebrows raised expectently before you spoke up again
"sorry.. didn't mean to catch you at a bad time, s'just wondering if it's a real party or a lame one"
were you asking him to go?
his puzzle look made you laugh softly
"are you coming to sell at the party?" you said again, making it more simple because clearly his brain wasn't processing, and to be honest, his eyes looked a little blown out and darker than usual, was he high?
he nodded quickly "uh i uh- i don't know yet, probably, need the money"
"good, i need something to make me relax, are you alright?" you asked, noticing his excessive blinking
"Yeah," he said plainly.
the word stretched too thin to feel convincing. His smile didn’t quite reach his eyes, and you couldn’t tell if he was just distracted or trying to get you to drop it. Either way, the air between you felt heavier now, like something invisible was hanging in the space where words should’ve been.
You shifted your weight, leaning back against the cold metal of your locker, and studied him for a moment. His hands were still in his locker, rummaging through whatever he was keeping stashed in there, but they didn’t seem to be moving with any real purpose. It was more like he was just keeping them busy. Avoiding something.
"You sure?" you asked again, softer this time. There wasn’t any teasing in your voice now, just a quiet curiosity that you couldn’t quite keep out.
He froze for a second, his shoulders stiffening almost imperceptibly before he pulled his hands out of the locker and shut it with a sharp click.
His head tilted, and he gave you another one of those smiles that didn’t feel real- more like a placeholder than anything else.
"Yeah, I’m good," he said, like he was trying to convince himself just as much as you.
You nodded, but the furrow in your brow stayed. You weren’t sure why it bothered you so much, why he seemed so off, or why you felt the need to press the matter, but it did.
He didn’t meet your eyes this time, and something about that stung more than you cared to admit.
"Okay," you said, drawing the word out slowly, like you weren’t sure if you believed him or not.
"Just... don’t overdo it, alright?"
he frowned "Overdo what?" he asked, his tone light, almost playful, but there was an edge to it. Like he was trying to steer the conversation away from whatever it was that had you asking in the first place.
"the drugs" you wanted to say, but you didn't.
You shrugged, feigning nonchalance. "Whatever it is that’s got you all..." You waved a hand vaguely in his direction, searching for the right word but not finding one. "...weird."
weird? what a new word he's never been called. but how is he supposed to act 'normal' when all he can focus on is the curve of your lips when you're talking to him, wishing he could feel them, wishing they were on his in what is a beautiful kiss.
but, alas,
he has to be weird.
trust me, i won't overdo wanting to kiss you Eddie thought to himself
His lips twitched, and for a moment, you thought he might actually laugh, but then the look in his eyes shifted again- softened, almost, and he let out a small sigh instead.
"I am weird," he said, quieter this time, like he was trying to reassure you without drawing too much attention to it.
You wanted to believe him. You really did. But something about the way he was looking at you now, like he was holding back a dozen things he didn’t know how to say, made it hard to let it go.
Still, you nodded, pushing yourself off your locker. "Alright,"
You stepped back to give him a little more space and looked down at the polished floor again
"I'll see you at the party then...or not...bye" You trailed off, suddenly feeling self-conscious about how much you were saying.
His eyes flicked to yours, just for a second, and then he nodded. "Yeah," he said simply.
You lingered for a moment longer, waiting for something, anything, but when he didn’t say anything else, you turned and started walking down the hallway. The sound of your footsteps echoed faintly behind you, and you wondered if he was watching you leave.
You didn’t look back to find out. But as you turned the corner, you caught yourself wishing you had.
and still wondering why, in that weird little head of yours, you still pictured kissing those plush pink lips of his.

*8th Month of Pregnancy*
Standing at the mirror I placed my hand on my belly. I couldn’t believe I was just over 8 months pregnant.
Lily was getting more excited about the babies. She was talking more and was helping me with the nursery.
Jensen had been working and gone filming a lot. He’d missed a few appointments but I understood. At the last ultrasound appointment they were going to tell me the genders but I asked them to wait.
My heart ached for Jensen to come home. I knew his job was important and I was so proud of him. I just missed him.
It was late at night and Lily was in bed. I had changed and glanced at myself in the mirror again.
I could feel the little kicks and flutters in my stomach, it made me smile. A pang of sadness filled my heart.
Chalking it up to the hormones I tried to push the thoughts away. I know Jensen loves me, Lily and our children, but I couldn’t help but feel alone and unwanted.
When Jensen would get home he’d be exhausted and focused on other things. He hadn’t touched me in about a month. My heart ached for his touch. I didn’t say anything to him because I didn’t want to add more stress to him.
Sarah encouraged me to talk to him, but I couldn’t bring myself to do it.
I took out my phone and sent him a text.
Me: Hey baby. Just wanted to tell you I miss you and can’t wait until you’re home. You’re still coming home in a few days, right?
I watched the bubbles appear and disappear several times before it stopped. No reply came in. My message was shown read.
Maybe he’s on set and glanced at his phone. He’ll message me when he can.
I sat on the couch and turned on the television for some background noise and honestly to try to pull me out of my head.
I dozed off around 1am and didn’t hear my phone go off. I slept for a few hours, waking up around 5:30am I glanced at my phone and saw a message notification from Jensen.
A smile crept across my face, but quickly faded when I read the text.
Jensen: Thank you for tonight. I needed to blow off some steam. You looked beautiful.
I swallowed hard and my heart pounded in my chest. I felt sick. Who was this message meant for?! Who did he go out with?
I opened Instagram and saw a ton of new pictures Jensen was tagged in. He was out at some bar with the cast of his latest project and there was a female co-worker hanging on him. He had a huge smile on his face. She was gorgeous. Young, skinny, and very beautiful. The total opposite of me. The kind of woman Jensen previously had on his arm.
My heart broke. What was I going to do? How can I raise three children on my own? I’ve been a fucking fool to think he would stay with me. I sobbed.
Not knowing what to do I followed the pictures back to the original post and it was from her account.
The original post talked about how lucky she felt to be welcomed to this crew and how much she admired Jensen and his kindness on and off the set. The next part made me want to vomit “Thanks Jens for an incredible night. You definitely know how to make a girl feel special. 🫶🏻❤️”
I took a screenshot and sent it to Sarah. She said she’d be right over.
I sobbed harder. My heart felt like it was breaking in my chest.
Sarah showed up about 15 minutes later and wrapped me in her arms. “Shh, sweetie. I’m sure there’s an explanation for this. Jensen loves you so much. He’s loyal to you.”
Sarah held me as I cried. “Y/N, think about the babies. You’ve got to calm down. This isn’t good for them.”
“No, what’s not good for them is their father cheating on their mother with a fucking child!” Sarah had sent Steve a text and told him what happened before she came over. He said he’d call Jensen and get to the bottom of it.
Sarah’s phone went off and it was a text from Steve.
Steve: No answer yet. I’ll keep trying. How’s she doing?
Sarah: She’s devastated. I’m really worried about her and the babies. God I hope he didn’t cheat on her.
Steve: I’ve known Jensen for decades, he’s really not that kind of guy. I promise.
Sarah: I hope he’s not.
“Y/N, come on sweetie take a deep breath.”
I took a breath in and let it out. Then I felt a sharp pain shoot through me. Sarah made me lay down and brought me some water. “You have to relax honey. This isn’t good for the babies.”
I nodded and tried to relax. My phone went off with a message notification. Sarah wouldn’t let me check it.
Jensen: Hey baby. Yeah. I’ll be home in a few days as long as filming runs smoothly. I love you and miss you too.
Sarah read the message and was pissed. He completely ignored the message he sent in the middle of the night. So Sarah sent a reply back.
Me: Jensen, this is Sarah. You might want to make sure you know who you’re texting before you send it. Y/N saw the text you meant to send some other woman and I’m here picking up the pieces. I swear to god if you’re cheating on her I’m going to cut off your balls! “You had a great time and you needed to blow off some steam and she was beautiful?!” Who the fuck sends another woman a message like that?
Jensen read the message from Sarah and scrolled up. He ran his fingers through his hair “Fuck! I’m so fucking stupid!”
I was laying on the couch and had Sarah help me up so I could use the bathroom. I sat down and then I saw blood. My heart started racing. When I stood up my water broke.
“Sarah, come quick!” Sarah ran to my side, seeing the blood and where my water broke she took my hand. “Okay, this is fine. Let me call Steve and see if he can come over for Lily so I can take you to the hospital.
“Sarah, I need Jensen. He should be here. Please call him.”
She nodded, helped me change and called Jensen.
Jensen saw my name pop up on his phone. He took a steady breath and answered it. “Hey baby. I know we need to talk.”
“Jensen, this is Sarah. You need to get home. Y/N’s in labor. You caused her to go into labor. Please leave your girlfriend there and get to the hospital.” Sarah’s voice dripped with anger and venom.
“Sarah, I don’t have, you know what, forget it. I’ll be there as soon as I can. Please tell her I’m on my way and I love her.”
“Sure you do.” Then Sarah hung up.
I looked at Sarah, “He said he’s on his way and he loves you.” She scoffed.
“Sarah, please.” She sighed, “I’m sorry. It just pisses me off. You’re carrying his children and you’ve given up everything to be with him and this is how he repays you?”
“Sarah, please stop. He has a right to explain.” Another pain shot through my body. Steve had arrived and Sarah and I were on our way to the hospital.
I sent Jensen a text.
Me: Jens I’m so scared. Please get home safe and quickly.
Jensen: I’m boarding a flight now. I’m so sorry baby. I swear I didn’t cheat on you. I love you and our family.
Me: I hope not. I love you too. I don’t want to have these babies without you.
Jensen: I’m trying to get there as fast as I can.
Me: I know. We do have a lot to talk about, but first we need to focus on these babies.
I put my phone down as a contraction hit. Sarah pulled up to the Emergency Department and ran inside. She came back out with a nurse and wheelchair.
Helping me out of the car they wheeled me in.
I was immediately taken to labor and delivery and hooked up to the monitor.
My contractions were close, but not unbearable. I kept looking at the door hoping Jensen would walk in at any moment.
Sarah stood by my bed and held my hand during the contractions.
The doctor came in and checked me and said the babies seemed okay for now but we would keep monitoring them for any signs of distress. If there was any distress I’d have to have a c-section. I nodded in understanding.
A few hours later the contractions were closer and I was getting more worried Jensen wouldn’t make it.
The doctor came in and checked me, “Okay, it looks like you’re ready to have these babies. Are you ready?”
Tears started to fall, “No, it’s too early and Jensen isn’t here. Sarah, he should be here.”
She held my hand, “I know sweetie. He’s on his way. I’m right here.”
The doctor assured me once the babies were born they would be assessed quickly for any complications.
It was time to push and the doctor and nurses got me ready. Jensen still wasn’t there and my heart broke more.
“Sarah, does he really love me?” She wiped the tears away, “Oh Y/N I’m sure he does. He will be here soon.”
As if on cue Jensen walked in the door. Bag in hand and sunglasses and hat on top of his head.
He dropped his stuff and ran to my side, “Hey baby. I’m here.” He took my hand and kissed the top of my head. He looked at Sarah and then at the doctor. “How’s she doing? How’s the babies?”
The doctor explained to Jensen it was early, but the babies would be assessed and taken to the NICU if necessary.
Jensen nodded and kissed my head again. “I’m so sorry baby. We’ve got this. Come on baby, let’s meet our babies.”
I nodded and took his hand in mine.
About thirty minutes later the first baby was delivered. A healthy baby boy. The nurse took him to be assessed while I rested between deliveries.
Jensen wiped my forehead and fed me ice chips. He took a picture of the baby for me. “Jens, he’s beautiful. Thank you.” He kissed my lips, “God I love you so much, sweetheart. What do you say we deliver our next baby?”
The second baby moved into position and I was ready to deliver. I was exhausted but ready to meet my other baby. A few minutes of pushing, a tiny cry filled the room. I looked over and saw little legs and feet kicking wildly. I chuckled. Jensen walked over and took a picture.
“Is the baby okay?” I asked Jensen. He smiled, “She’s perfect. Real fighter like her mama.”
Tears filled my eyes, “We have a boy and a girl?” He kissed me, “Yeah we do baby. They are perfect.”
Sarah gave me a hug and kissed my head, “You did great sweetie. I’m gonna call Steve and let him know.” I nodded and thanked her.
As she walked out of the room Jensen followed her.
“Hey, Sarah. Wait up please.” Sarah turned and looked at Jensen. He could tell she was pissed.
“What Jensen?” “I just wanted to tell you thank you for taking care of her and making sure our babies were safe.”
She stepped closer to him and poked his chest, “You don’t have to thank me. She’s like a sister to me. She wouldn’t have gone into labor if it wasn’t for your cheating ass.”
“Sarah, I’m not cheating on her. I never have and never would. I love her. It’s not an excuse but I got drunk. I went out with the cast and we got drunk. The text was meant for someone else, but it’s not what you think. She was arguing with her boyfriend and some woman at the bar told her she looked like a cheap hooker, then kissed her boyfriend. She was devastated. I’ve known her for years, she’s like a sister to me. I can call her right now to clear all this up. Look, I know I fucked up and if there is anything wrong with my children I know it’s my fault, but I need you to believe me. I love Y/N and I have since the moment I met her.”
Sarah stood shocked. She saw the pain in Jensen’s eyes and she couldn’t stop feeling he was telling her the truth.
Sarah took a deep breath and touched his arm, “Jensen, go to her side. Tell her everything you told me. She loves you and I know you love her. You might have to call that friend, but if you truly mean it and love Y/N then you fight for her.”
He nodded and they hugged. Sarah walked away to call Steve and Jensen returned to my side.
I was being transferred to a private room. Jensen came in the room with his bag and set it in a chair. I was laying in the bed and looked over at him.
He smiled softly “Hey baby. How are you feeling?” “I’m okay. Sore, but okay. I’m glad you made it. Have you heard anything about the babies?”
He shook his head no, “No, but I can go find out if you want me to.”
I reached out my hand, “No, I think we should talk first.” He looked down solemnly, “Yeah. I think so too.”
Silence filled the room. Neither of us knew what to say or how to start the conversation. The weight of it all hung heavy in the air.
Jensen sat beside me and took a deep breath, “Baby I swear I have never nor would I ever cheat on you. The text was meant for my friend, Leah, but it’s not what you think. We all went out last night to celebrate wrap. Leah was there with her boyfriend and they started fighting. Some woman at the bar said she looked like a hooker and then kissed Leah’s boyfriend. She was devastated. I’ve known her for years, she’s like a sister to me. I just wanted to let her know she looked beautiful. I swear I didn’t mean it any other way. I love you and I’d never do anything to jeopardize what we have. I know I screwed up and you going into labor early is my fault. If there is anything wrong with our children that’s on me.”
Tears filled his eyes. I didn’t know what to say.
I lifted my hand to his face and gently touched him. “Jens, it’s not your fault our babies came early. I should have trusted you and not gotten as upset as I did. I just let my brain run wild. I thought you didn’t want me anymore. You hadn’t touched me in a month and I was afraid you weren’t attracted to me anymore. I’m sorry Jensen. I should have talked to you about what was bothering me.”
“What?! How could I not be attracted to you? Look at you. You’re beautiful and sexy as hell. Your beautiful body made and carried all three of our babies. I could never thank you enough for that. I was afraid I’d hurt you having sex with you. The last time we had sex you were in pain for a few days. I didn’t want to hurt you again. I’m so sorry baby. I should have been honest with you.”
He leaned down, cupped my face and his lips ghosted mine. He stopped and didn’t move.
“Is this okay?” I nodded and he crashed his lips to mine. The kiss was full of need and regret. When he pulled away we looked into each other’s eyes, “I love you, Y/N, so much.” “I love you too, Jensen.”
About an hour later the doctor came in and gave us an update on the twins. They both passed their tests, but would be required to stay in the NICU for at least a week to get their lungs strong enough. She said we could go see them when I felt up to it.
I looked over at Jensen and he smirked, “She’s ready now, doc.” The doctor chuckled, “Okay, we’ll be careful and call the nurse before you get up.” We nodded and called the nurse.
She helped me up and we went to see the babies. We saw our son first. The nurse had me sit in the rocking chair and she put him on my chest. He was smaller than Lily was, but he looked good. He cooed and looked up at me.
I gasped softly, he had the most beautiful green eyes I’d seen since looking into Jensen’s.
The nurse smiled, “So do you two have a name picked out yet?” I looked at her and then Jensen, “Yeah his name is Michael Alan and her name is Josephine Marie.”
The nurse smiled, “Beautiful.” She looked at Jensen and said, “While mom is holding him do you want to hold your little girl?” Jensen smiled and nodded.
He sat in the rocking chair near her crib and the nurse handed the baby to Jensen.
He looked down at his little girl and smiled. She looked just like Lily, but she had his green eyes. He looked over at me and smiled. “She’s beautiful. She looks like her big sister.”
I reached my hand out and held his, “We made some beautiful babies. Didn’t we?” “Yeah we did. Thank you baby. Thank you for our beautiful little family.”
We held the twins for a while and switched. I looked over at Jensen holding our son and I saw the pride on his face. My little girl fell asleep in my arms. I watched her sleep and she reminded me so much of Lily it made my heart full.
We put the babies down to sleep and Jensen helped me back to the room. Sarah and Steve were bringing Lily to see me and the babies.
Lily came in and climbed on the bed. She looked at my stomach and put her hand on it, “Babies?” “Mommy had the babies. You have a baby brother and sister.” She looked at me and then Jensen. “See babies” she said looked at Jensen.
“Well they are in a special room because they were born early, but you can see them through the window.” Jensen said and she nodded.
“Hey, I’ll take her. You rest” Jensen said as he leaned down and kissed my head.
He scooped her up and started to carry her out. Steve went with them.
When they left Sarah looked at me. “What?” I asked. “Did you two work it out?” I nodded, “Yeah. He told me what happened.” “Do you believe him?” I shook my head yes.
“Okay, I just want to make sure you’re okay. You deserve to be loved.”
I touched her arm, “I know, and I am. He loves me and I trust him. We even talked about why we hadn’t had sex.”
“And? What was the reason?”
“The last time we had sex I hurt for a few days after. He was worried he’d hurt me again so he didn’t pursue it with me.”
“Was that true? Did you get hurt?”
“Yeah. I was in some pain afterwards. It wasn’t his fault, but yeah. I understand his hesitation.”
She hugged me, “Okay. Well I still meant what I said to him if he hurts you.” We both laughed, “I know. You’re mean that way.”
*Time Jump 3 Months*
“Jensen, can you grab Michael and dry him off and bring me Josie?”
Jensen came into the bathroom and we switched off the twins for bath time.
They were now 3 months old and growing. Jensen and I were a great team with them and Lily.
Jensen still made time to play with Lily and she even helped feed the babies. She would help get diapers and wipes, but never changed a diaper.
When we first brought the twins home, Lily had a hard time adjusting. She clung to Jensen for about a month. Anytime he left the house she went with him. I was worried she felt pushed to the side, but Jensen was great at helping her feel loved and cared for.
After bath time we fed the twins and put them down for bed. Lily had her bath and we read to her and put her to bed.
Jensen and I had some quiet time for the first time in a while. We usually had one kid awake or we were both so exhausted we fell asleep. Sometimes in our clothes.
Tonight, however, we were both wide awake.
He sat beside me on the couch and leaned over and kissed my cheek. “Hey beautiful, why don’t you go take a shower or bath and relax. If one of the kids wakes up I’ll take care of them. You can relax.”
I looked over at him. I wanted him, I needed him. It had been months. Between the pregnancy and birth we hadn’t had sex and I really wanted to feel him again.
I straddled his hips and leaned down kissing his lips. His hands grabbed my hips and pulled me close. “Jens, take me to our room.”
He leaned back and looked in my eyes, “Are you sure?”
I kissed him. Pouring all my love, need and desire into it. “Yes”.
He lifted me up and carried me to our room. I tried to protest, “Jensen, put me down. I weigh too much.”
“No you don’t, you’re perfect.”
He carried me to our room, closed the door with his foot and laid me on the bed.
He leaned down, his strong arms on either side of me. He smiled and kissed my lips softly.
“You’re so beautiful, you know that?” I smiled, “Yeah, I’ve been told that a few times.”
Jensen chuckled and kissed me again. His hand slid down my body and to the hem of my shirt.
I bit my lower lip and my breath hitched. I could feel my desire course through my body. Jensen’s hand slipped under my shirt and to my breasts. He gently cupped them and I arched my back, moaning his name.
He pulled my shirt over my head. Jensen began licking and sucking each nipple. My fingers in his hair, pulling him closer to me.
He smirked against my skin as his hot breath caused goosebumps to erupt all over me.
Jensen slid his hands down to my waistband and past my panties. He felt how soaked I was and without warning slid his fingers past my folds and into my waiting pussy.
I gasped loudly as he hooked his fingers up. His thumb rubbing my sensitive clit. “Oh God, right there, Jensen. Fuck!”
He stopped and I whined. “Jens, why did you stop?” He leaned up and pulled my pants and panties down in one pull, “Had to get better access.” He chuckled.
Jensen continued and pushed me closer to my release. I felt heat and arousal fill my body. It had been so long since we touched each other I wanted it to last. My body was responding to Jensen.
The familiar coil tightened in my stomach. “Jens, I’m close.” He leaned forward, lips ghosting my ear, “I know baby. Let go for me. Cum on my fingers. Let me feel you.”
The coil snapped and I was cumming hard. My back arched off the bed and I soaked Jensen’s hand. My legs trembled as my body convulsed through my orgasm.
By the time I was done I was panting and could feel my arousal running down my ass. Jensen stood up and I saw his rock hard cock through his sweatpants.
I licked my lips and pulled my bottom lip in between my teeth. My breath hitched as he removed his clothes. He smirked, “See something you like, sweetheart?”
I nodded and smiled, “Yes, I do.” Jensen climbed back on the bed and used his legs to push my legs apart.
I laid looking up at him and saw the love in his eyes. My heart fluttered in my chest.
Jensen pumped his length a few times and looked down at me. I nodded and Jensen’s pink head slid past my lips and slowly sunk inside me.
I gasped and he moaned as he pushed in. Jensen stilled himself as he bottomed out.
“Fuck! I forgot how tight you were. Damn baby, even after three babies you fit perfectly around me.” He kissed my lips as he started to move his hips.
Jensen moved his hips slowly, pulling his length in and out of me slowly. His hands and lips trailing over my body. Our moans and pants filled the air.
I placed my hands on his biceps as his hips snapped into mine.
“Baby, I want you on top. I want to see your beautiful body.”
Jensen pulled out and laid on his back, I climbed on top of him and used one hand to steady myself while I used the other to guide him in me.
I sank down on his hard cock with a whimper and pulled a deep moan from his lips.
His hands gripped my hips as I rocked back and forth. Jensen snapped his hips up and pushed his cock deeper inside me. I grabbed the headboard and I continued rocking my hips faster.
“Mmm, yes baby. Just like that. God, you feel so good. Fucking me so good.” I moved faster as I felt my second release building.
Jensen’s hips moved faster moving up as I moved down. Our bodies were working together, chasing our release.
Jensen grabbed my body and flipped me on my back, his hips slamming into me faster. My legs resting on his shoulders as my hands found his chest. I was close again. My fingers slipped between us and I started rubbing my clit, chasing my second release.
My release hit hard and I moaned his name like a prayer. My walls clenched around his length and pulled his orgasm out too. He came with a grunt and his release coated my walls. Filling me with his seed.
He leaned down and kissed my lips as he softened inside me. “I love you, Jensen.” “I love you too, Y/N. This was perfect.” I smiled and nodded.
Jensen pulled out and kissed my lips. He got up, went to the bathroom, grabbed a washcloth and came back to the bed to clean us both up.
Tossing the washcloth to the side he crawled back in bed with me. Offering me his arm, I curled up to his side and laid my head on his chest.
My fingers drawing circles on his chest. “Jensen, thank you for tonight. It’s been too long and it was amazing.” He tilted my head up and placed a soft kiss on my lips, “Yeah it was. Thank you for tonight. I didn’t hurt you did I?” “No, baby. You were perfect.”
The two of us drifted off to sleep in each other’s arms. Finally reconnecting and falling more in love.
*Time Jump 3 months*
The twins were 6 months old and my birthday was in a few days. Sarah had planned a spa day for us and I was excited. Jensen was staying with the kids, and Steve was coming over too.
Jensen and Steve were cooking dinner and my instruction from Jensen was to relax.
Sarah came and got me and we headed to the spa. We got facials, full body wraps, manicures and pedicures. By the time we got back to the house it was close to dinner time.
Walking in the house it smelled amazing. Jensen was standing at the stove when I walked into the kitchen.
“Hey sweetheart, how was the spa?” I walked up to him and kissed him, “It was amazing, thank you. This smells amazing by the way.” “It’ll be ready soon. You go sit and relax. The twins are napping and Lily is playing with Steve.
I nodded and walked into the living room where I found Sarah and Steve whispering. “What are you two talking about?” “Uh, nothing.” Sarah giggled. “Okay, whatever. Well just don’t have sex where the kids can see it.” Sarah turned red.
A few minutes later Jensen was telling us dinner was ready. We all sat down at the table and ate. Jensen brought out a small birthday cake, candles and all.
They sang Happy Birthday and Jensen told me to make a wish. I smiled, “But I have everything I could ever want right here.” I kissed him and then blew out the candles.
We enjoyed some cake and ice cream. Later after Sarah and Steve left and the kids were in bed, Jensen and I went to sit on the back porch.
We sat on the swing under a blanket and listened to the crickets and looked up at the stars.
“So, are you sure there’s nothing you would wish for?” Jensen asked with a smile. “Jensen, I have you, our three babies and this beautiful life. I have everything I could ever need.”
He smiled and nodded. “I have everything I could ever need too, well almost everything.” I looked at him confused, “What else could you need?”
Jensen stood and dropped to his knee, “I’ve loved you since the minute I saw you at that convention. You and Lily came into my life when I least expected it. You’ve given me so much, a home filled with love, three beautiful children, and a companion for life. It would be my absolute honor if you would agree to become my wife. I love you, Y/N, and I can’t think of anything else I want more than that. Will you marry me?”
I gasped softly as he opened the ring box. I threw my arms around him and kissed him, “Yes! Yes I’ll marry you!” He kissed me and slipped the ring on my finger, “Perfect fit.” I looked at it and nodded.
About a month after the engagement Lily started to retreat into herself again. I began to get worried about her. I wasn’t sure if it was because the twins were getting older and required more attention or if it was the engagement.
I talked to Jensen to see if he could help with her, he went to her room to talk to her. When he came back I saw tears in his eyes.
“Jens, is she okay?” He shook his head no. “She thinks she’s not family because she doesn’t have the same last name.”
I sighed, “Oh no. Why didn’t I see it? I’m going to be an Ackles, and the babies are. She’ll be the only one who isn’t.”
Jensen took my hand in his, “Hey, this isn’t on you. It’s natural for kids to feel this way. I did find this in her room, that’s how I knew what was bothering her.”
He handed me a picture she had drawn, it was all of us and she wrote “Ackles” on the top. “Jens, is she asking what I think she is?” “I think so. So what do you say? How would you feel if I adopted her, made it official?”
“You’d adopt her?” “Of course I would. I love her like my own. I’d love nothing more than to adopt her. She’s already my daughter, let’s make it official.”
I smiled and nodded, “Let’s go tell her.”
We walked into Lily’s room. She was playing on the floor and Jensen picked her up and sat her between us on the bed.
“Lily honey, we wanted to talk to you.” She looked at me and then back at Jensen. “We were talking and wanted to ask you how you would feel if daddy adopted you. You would be an Ackles for real. What do you think?”
She looked up at Jensen and then back at me and squealed.
She leaped in Jensen’s lap and threw her arms around his neck, “Daddy, my daddy.” He chuckled, “Yes, Lily girl. I’m your daddy forever.” He looked over at me, “I think that’s a yes.” I nodded, “I think so too.”
Lily climbed out of Jensen’s lap and ran to her closet. She pulled out her suitcase and Jensen and I looked at each other confused. Lily opened it and dumped the bag out. We saw some clothes, her stuffies and pictures of her with the twins and the family picture we had taken.
“Lily honey, what’s all this?” Jensen bent down to help her pick up the stuff. “Lily, no go now.” I was confused then it hit me, She wanted to leave. I sat on the floor beside her and pulled her in my lap, “Lily baby, you will always be our baby girl. It doesn’t matter what your last name is or how many babies I have. You will always be my first baby and we will always love you so much.”
She put her arms around my neck and held me tight. “Love you mama.” “I love you too, Lily girl. So much.” Jensen pulled both of us in his arms, “And I love my girls so much.”
Sitting on the floor with Jensen and Lily I reflected on the past few months of my life. From taking a chance and going to a convention with Lily, meeting the love of my life and having his children, to being engaged to him and he accepting my sweet girl, I knew I was exactly where I was supposed to be, and I couldn’t ask for more.

note: happy ending for dean and reader this time! i am a swiftie, so it's no surprise that i had to write a fic with taylor incorporated. if it wasn't obvious by the title, the song mentioned throughout is 'mine' by taylor swift. there wasn't supposed to be smut, but the i was listening to 'so it goes...' by taylor and got a little carried away. this fic is very fitting because just a few days after starting to write it your girl secured the lover: live from paris vinyl!!! thank god, because lover is my favorite album. anyways, enjoy this, and look forward to more sam and dean fics coming because i am definitely not done writing!

“Damn it!” You’d heard that about six times in the last five minutes. It had been a calm day of driving. Windows down, sun shining in, and Dean’s hand in yours. Sam had been in the backseat, laughing along as you told a story from your childhood. The background music to your tale had been the radio softly playing a cassette that Dean had chosen before beginning the journey from Virginia to Michigan. Or it had been the background music until the lead singer had been cut off mid word by a crunching sound. This prompted Dean to slam his hand on the radio a few times before proceeding to pull into any empty lot to get a closer look.
“I can fix this,” he had claimed as he fiddled around with random things surrounding the radio. You watched him with furrowed eyebrows, knowing he had little to no clue what he was doing. Even if he did somehow know how to fix the thing, there was no way he could do it without any tools. After the aforementioned slurry of curses, you finally put the man out of his misery and placed a hand on his arm.
“Dean, let’s just listen to the radio like normal people.” Your words brought a scoff from him and he sat up in his seat. Sam watched the two of you with amusement. It had been enjoyable to watch his brother fall in love with someone who could keep up with him. Though sometimes the stubborn attitude you shared with each other caused brief bickering, there was no one else Dean would rather spend the rest of his life with. He hadn’t told you in all those words, but everything else he had said and done had told you that much. Sam would say that his older brother would take a bullet for you if he hadn’t already watched how that turned out.
“Fine.” Dean grumbled out as he started the car back up. He let you find a station. He was confident in your skills to find a suitable station for driving in the Impala. You knew exactly what he liked and exactly what he couldn’t stand to listen to. And perhaps you did. But that day, when your fingers turned the dial through the stations and you caught a snippet of a song, you were choosing for yourself.
“-believe it?, As we’re lying on the couch,”
“This one!” You perked up as the female voice filled the vehicle.
“No.” Dean’s voice had a finality in it you didn’t like. You frowned and turned in your seat. His eyes were on the road but he watched your reaction from the corner of his eye as he flitted his attention from the road to you. You weren’t happy with him, that was obvious, and he knew you weren’t going to back down. Neither would he.
“Yes.” You pushed back as the song played on.
“No.” Dean repeated.
“Just for this song.” You offered, knowing you probably weren’t going to like the following songs anyways.
“Fine.” Your boyfriend gave in to you far easier than he would have if it had been anyone else. In the silence after, you hummed along to the song, not yet knowing the lyrics. Dean continued to watch you, smiling as he did so. By the last chorus, you could sing along.
“Who the hell even was that?” Dean asked once the song had started to fade out. As if in the car himself, the radio DJ responded.
“That was country music superstar Taylor Swift’s new single ‘Mine’ off her upcoming third album ‘Speak Now’. Next up,-”
You moved the dial again, knowing the song you had just listened to would end up being the only hit you would enjoy from the station. You landed on a station that was playing similar music as what was on the cassette. Dean grasped your hand in his and you interlocked fingers.
“Thank you, baby.” You said to him. You knew he would have given in to you no matter what, but you still wanted to make him feel appreciated. His response to you was a bright smile.
----
The next time the song was heard, it was from the speakers on your laptop. You were strictly a researcher for the boys. No physical hunting for you. There was one time you had attempted to join the boys on tracking a lone vampire. Dean was far too distracted by making sure you were never out of his sight that he had missed the vamp push past the group. It had ended with Sam almost getting his throat ripped out, which had really pissed him off. After that, it was only computer work for you. You hadn’t complained. Historically speaking, you weren’t one for running for your life.
This hunt was pretty easy. A ghost had been terrorizing the residents of town under a local bridge, resulting in car crashes and a few pedestrians being struck. Once you had narrowed down the grave of the man, you sent Sam and Dean to burn his bones. In their absence you found yourself looking for the song from the radio.
There it was. A YouTube video displayed the cover art for the album as the upbeat song played. You wandered about the room, readying yourself for the night while mumbling the lyrics. The song played then moved on to one Taylor Swift song after the next for the next 35 minutes until the door to the motel room clicked open. You looked up from your notebook to see the boys walk in. Sam offered you a smile before going to the bathroom, assumingly having won the rights to the first shower. Dean raised an eyebrow at your laptop as he sat in a chair across from you.
“This the same chick from the other day?” He asked, which earned him a playful pout from you.
“Taylor Swift.” You corrected as you placed your notebook and pen inside your bag.
“My favorite singer.” You stood and took the few steps to reach him before sitting on his lap, your arms around his neck and his hands holding you securely. You placed a kiss on his cheek and grimaced at the smell.
“You stink.” You stated but made no move to get away from him. Your words were met with a pout from him, similar to the one he had received from you.
“I thought Bob Dylan was your favorite singer?” Dean asked. You shook your head and leaned into him.
“Nope. Taylor Swift.” You felt him breathe a laugh out. He continued to hold you until Sam was done with his shower, even if his leg had fallen asleep in that time.
----
“Do you remember we were sitting there by the water?”
The voice trailed out from your phone as you and Dean cuddled in bed. You had figured out how to download the song onto your device and it just so happened the first song you had heard from the blonde girl was your favorite. The lyrics reminded you of your relationship with Dean. It was the morning now and Sam had run out for breakfast. You and Dean had taken the time alone by sleepily making out and listening to music. Your music had been the winner since you were the only one with it downloaded onto your phone and your laptop was across the room.
You could tell, despite his objections to the fact, Dean was starting to enjoy some of the songs. Sure, it was because you enjoyed them, but you could have sworn that he hummed along to some of them.
You grabbed the front of his shirt in a fist as you two kissed. He held his hands on your hips to pull you into him. Your heart was beating quickly and you rolled your body up against his. There wasn’t enough time for what the both of you truly wanted to do, but that didn’t mean you could just turn it off. His response to your movements was to groan and kiss you harder. His hands trailed to your bottom and he pulled you up into him.
“Dean,” You breathed out. The music had been drowned out by the sounds of you and your lover. It was magical. His hands, his lips, all of him. Pleasure erupted where his hands touched you. It had been far too long since you had gotten to be close to him like this.
“I know, baby, I know,” Dean’s words came out in pants in between kisses. His hands were tight on you, fingers digging into your hips. You moaned into his mouth when you brushed up onto him in just the right way.
Fuck it.
That was Dean’s last thought before deciding he would be quick. He could get you off in the time it would take Sam to make it back to the room. His younger brother would have the sense to knock before coming in anyways, right? That didn’t matter in the moment as Dean disappeared under the blankets. The only thing racing around either of your heads was the need for touch. You felt him tug your shorts down, pulling your underwear with them. No time for the usual foreplay, Dean dove right into you.
His tongue dragged along your core. He groaned when he tasted you, just as sweet as he remembered. He used his tongue to lap at your entrance, causing you to curse under your breath. His nose nudged at your clit while he moved, creating an immense amount of pleasure to build up inside you. You moaned and bucked your hips up, trying to get impossibly closer to him. Dean’s response to this was to hold your hips down, his pace never slowing. The pressure from his fingers had pleasure, not pain, rippling through your body. There were sure to be bruises in the coming hours, but that was the collateral for what Dean did to your body.
God, his mouth felt heavenly. You pressed your shoulders into the pillows, needing to move. You were whimpering his name out in between moans. The sound of his name coming from your pretty little mouth only encouraged his actions. He moved his mouth like a man starved, and there were no complaints from you.
Your hands balled into fists, gripping the sheets tight enough Dean thought you were going to rip them, but he didn’t stop. That would be a problem for later Dean. Present Dean needed to feel his girl come apart under his hands. He continued to work at you, knowing when you were getting close when your breaths became shorter and quicker. The coil of an orgasm built up in your lower abdomen. You were right on the edge, ready to fall into the ocean of post-sex bliss, and the tipping point was Dean groaning into you at the feel of you fighting his hold on you. The noise reverberated through your body, making your skin goosebump at the pure desire of it.
You were trying to catch your breath while basking in the high of what Dean had done to you when the door opened. Sam, it seemed, had not known he would need to knock before entering. It was the shared room after all. He carried in a large bag full of fragrant food and a tray of coffees. Confusion bloomed across his face when he hadn’t seen his brother next to you, the emotion only increasing at the sight of the obviously empty bathroom. He turned his eyes to you, apparently not noticing the red of your cheeks.
“Where…?” Sam had begun his question, but let the rest of the sentence trail off when Dean emerged from under the blanket. His cheeks were the same red as your own, though he tried to hide this with a flash of a wide smirk. He had pulled your shorts back onto you before making his entrance, ensuring you wouldn’t accidentally flash his brother.
“Oh, gross!” Sam exclaimed and piled the food onto the table. It wasn’t as if it had been the first time he had walked in on his older brother, but it never ceased to make it less weird for him. You and Dean let out twin chuckles before joining Sam at the table for breakfast.
----
You were back in the Impala. The windows were down and the warm air of summer streamed in the windows. You let your right hand wave up and down in the wind, holding Dean’s hand in your left. His elbow rested on his own open window as he drove wordlessly, letting the music fill the car. Even Sam was quiet as he let the air that rushed into the vehicle to swish his hair around. The song - your song, as Dean liked to call it - was filling the space around your little trio. The cassette player in the car had been fixed, (turns out Dean did know what he was doing, which he boasted about for a good five minutes), but you had been checking the country radio station in between songs in the hopes that they would play the song. After a few tries, there it was, and you had been lucky enough to catch it at the beginning.
“But we got bills to pay, we got nothing figured out,” you sang along with the radio. You looked over to Dean.
“When it was hard to take, yes, yes, this is what I thought about,” Dean was, albeit very discreetly, singing along as well. A smile broke out across your face, one that caught Sam’s attention.
“Are you singing Taylor Swift, Dean?” Sam asked incredulously, a teasing tone in his voice. Dean glanced at the two of you, rolling his eyes when he saw the looks of astonishment on them. He knew there was no denying it.
“Yes, now shut up, the bridge is coming.” Dean shot back. Sure enough, the post-chorus just before the bridge was playing.
“And I remember that fight, 2:30 AM, as everything was slipping right out of hands,”
Sam had joined in on the sing-along, having the song practically memorized from the amount of times you played it. You giggled through your singing at the sound of the two men in the car with you. You all must have sounded ridiculous, three voices, four including the radio, blasted from the open windows. It didn’t matter though, you were all happy. You were all family, even if it wasn’t through blood when it came to you. You loved these boys and knew you would never want to live a day with either one of them out of your life. Dean, your true love, your soulmate, if that was even possible. Sam, your brother, your friend.
Dean pulled the back of your hand to his lips before the last line. You locked eyes with him and the rest of the world blurred away. A smile pulled the corners of your lips up. You and Dean sang the last line to each other, and though it was just a song, you both knew the lyrics to be true.
“You are the best thing that’s ever been mine.”
