i feel like this take is gonna make me sound like a pretentious english major but it feels like they care more abt the book being pretty than its actual contents. in my main post i admit i was. mean abt the overall quality of the fourth wing series. however i have already seen reels of ppl complaining abt reselling them and upcharging them in the range of 200 USD and higher for a book that released Yesterday. i saw a woman taking off the cover to "rebind" it as a leather book n she was like 'no spoilers i haven't read it yet' like i have to respect the hustle but u aren't even going to read it first???

and frankly i've heard abt the publishing company behind them (red tower) specifically and i think they really lean into the special edition craze, a lot of people have complained about the handling of the release and the fact that it advertises "exclusive" art but just uses art that the artist has used for other things like d&d modules n edited it slightly so it's like. why would i buy an extremely overpriced copy of a book with art not original to the series from a reseller. for sprayed edges? no

i'm not really that much on booktok (or rather booksta bc i don't use tiktok) but i'm hearing abt the drama with the onyx storm release and i kinda just have to ask... why. like i feel like i haven't heard many good things abt the fourth wing series and i never have gotten the hype of special editions, maybe i just need to find more book series i'm rabid for but
