8, 9, 10, 13, 14, 15, 16, 19, and 20 for the book asks!! that’s a LOT so you can just answer the ones you want 💗💗💗
8. a book you finished in one sitting
The Missing of Clairdelune by Christelle Dabos!!! I kept on telling myself I’d put it down and go to sleep, but then Archibald was in danger and I couldn’t resist a beautiful damsel in distress <333
9. your favourite book of 2020
Maybe means 2020, 2021, or thus far in 2022, but I’m giving you answers for all of them. Because I can <3 2020: Entwined by Heather Dixon. This has actually been one of my favorite books for a while, but I rediscovered it in 2020. It has since inspired a Chrysi/Archibald AU. It’s a fun reimagining of the fairy tale of the 12 dancing princesses! 2021: It was The Death of Jane Lawrence by Caitlin Starling. I’m sorry, I know I’ve mentioned it in pretty much every ask. I just love that book. Memorie’s Pathetic Men Rights 2K21. I will make Augustine burst into tears on the spot purely so I can kiss him better. That’s all. (Thus far) 2022: ………. The Cruel Prince by Holly Black. I wasn’t expecting to love it, but my friend offhandedly said, “Oh yeah, you like pathetic men, don’t you?” when I was holding the first book in hand. I had to buy it and read it. I adored it. Sigh… why must I be predictable.
10. a book that got you through something
The Bone Witch trilogy by Rin Chupeco… also the Caraval trilogy by Stephanie Garber. Chryzure vibes AND my pathetic, pretty little Jacks… makes me happy <333
13. your favourite romance novel
…. The Bone Witch and also The Night Circus… I say the same four books every single time, but I swear I read more books than that. I also love Entwined by Heather Dixon, but the romance is definitely more secondary to the rest of the familial relationships.
14. a book that made you trip on literary acid
Not for the reasons you might expect, but Within These Wicked Walls by Lauren Blackwood! The pacing is all over the place, the characters deeply lovable, and sometimes I had no clue what was going on. It’s perfect. Also obsessed with the fact that she really did just allow everyone that went missing to Die and didn’t pull a Hail Mary out of nowhere. I respect that, even if it makes me sad.
15. a book rec you really enjoyed
I already mentioned it, but I’ll say it again: The Cruel Prince by Holly Black. I read the series in a 24 hour time period and immediately contracted brainrot. I didn’t know how to function. Thank God I finally liked a popular book though, because I can actually find memes and fanart for it. It’s a fun little ride! Not too deep, but who needs it to be? <333
16. a book you’d recommend to your younger self
Honestly, I wish I’d read The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle and The Princess Bride by William Goldman sooner in life. Also, Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones. All of those books would’ve been thoroughly enjoyed by little me.
19. a book that put you in a reading slump
It was probably The Night Circus most notably. I always mention this book. I’m so sorry.
20. a book that got you out of a reading slump
A Winter’s Promise, for sure! Ever since I read that, I’ve been pretty steady with reading books. It helps when it’s the first of four books! I had to keep reading at that point.
