once again thinking (and crying) about melkor and mairon and the repetition of mistakes that would cost them everything ,,,

mairon being adamant about not being like melkor, about having learned from his mistakes, confident in his future victory, until he suddenly stands in eregion, in front of the same choice melkor had to make in valinor: lay down your cruelty, your selfish ambition, your trickery and deceit and instead choose the light and love so freely offered to them.

and mairon - just like melkor - turns his back to that acceptance and chooses his own undoing instead.

#i come on here just to scream about silvergifting and melkor x manwe #in my heart of hearts i truly believe that after some time together tyelpe knew who annatar was #mayhaps not exactly the knowledge of sauron #but he knew that his hands had wrought cruelty to the land under melkor's service #and yet his still took those very hands into his own and accepted all of him #just as manwe once did #miss me with that 'manwe couldn't understand evil' thing #manwe had hope for melkor #he believed in him and loved him #it wasn't ignorance or stupidity #it was love #screaming crying sobbing about them all
